─── ♡ treasure ::
[stan] ⌗ [familiar] ⌗ [unfamiliar] !
── ✩ favorite member(s) / bias line :: yoshi 🤝 hyunsuk (🤝 asahi 🤝 haruto) NFBFNF — i have had . a time u know … a very . Time .. ‘nd i lov a bit too much u know … bieline(trsr edition) !! : hyunsuk = yoshi > asahi >/= haruto > junkyu = jihoon > mashiho = jaehyuk = yedam > doyoung >/= jeongwoo = junghwan ^^ ! ( the last three … my sons ……… 💓✨💕 )
── ✩ which member(s) i’d fight (& why) :: I Want To Play Rock Paper Scissors Against Jeongwoo . ! i think it’d be funny .. a little haha if u will … < 3
── ✩ favorite song(s) :: SLOWMOTION I LOV U I 💗 U I LOV U SO BAD !!!!!! also my treasure …. and going crazy …. and i love you …. and jikjin …. and u ….. and darari ….. and volkno …. and boy …. and
── ✩ favorite thing about the group :: how !! excited they always seem to be to just … Exist . like … watching their content feels almost like you’re watching a found family movie fjfjfj — it also just so fun to hear them playing around with different ‘pop’ sounds through each cb / promo-track !! !!
── ✩ something i’d like to see from them :: maybe … more pop-punk-ish sound ? think it’d be super fun to see them really bounce around / experiment with the different sounds to it ^^
─── ♥︎ to1 ::
[stan] ⌗ [familiar] ⌗ [unfamiliar] !
── ✩ favorite member(s) / bias line :: donggeon !! <3 current-bieline(to1 edition) is still somewhat shaky past geon since … u know what … however !! : donggeon > daigo = jaeyun > j.you = jisu > kyungho > chan = renta = yeojeong ! 💓

── ✩ favorite thing about the group :: how resilient they’ve been throughout …. all the crap their company’s put them through :< !! they’ve managed to keep pretty strong confidence & motivation throughout the .. Trials and for that ? kudos u know … !! BUT OUTSIDE THAT …. genuinely love how much they stuck with each other throughout their careers ?? if that makes sense ???? like even if at the end of the day, they really are more coworkers than besties at this point, the ogs within the group have really just !! !! been so determined to stick with each other that it’s just !! !!!!!! u know ( i’m v rambly here sorry but … u probs get the gist of what i’m sayingfjfb ) — but also i just really love how they perform ! ! like .. they bounce off each other in both the choreos and in the actual songs ( both studio & live ) !! keeps you listening/watching their entire performance, and that’s so fun & really ! ! ! i just lov it <3
── ✩ something i’d like to see from the group :: i’d honestly have a fun time seeing something like the drummin’ concept again ! ! it was soooo cute & really fun to watch ! plus her choreo… was so neat … <333333

BAND AU - Bakusquad as songs in my library + position in the band !
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Not requested but i thought of this while mid writing my one-shot lol
Feel free to request anything !
Warnings: none
a/n: please remember these are my personal thoughts so feel free to exchange your opinions too ! :D
work under the cut !
All together:
"Teenagers - My Chemical Romance"
Dont ask me to explain this one. They just seem like that one band thats literally so badass together i cannot explain how jealous i would be of them.
All together they're an Alternative/Rock band !
Mina Ashido:
Tumblr media
"Crushcrushcrush - Paramore"
I feel like she'd BODY this song </3 Her style of performance (personally) would fit paramore's concept so well #girlboss. Her and Denki are probably the most energetic in the group. The showstopper; all of her stage outfits bring attention wherever they are and definitely brings in a lot of attention (male + female). She's also very flashy, always exaggerating her movements and amplifying the environment; you can count on her to liven up the crowd. She helps a lot in concept making and bringing new ideas to the table. You can thank her for all of their bizarre and new concepts.
She'd be either lead vocals or electric guitar + backup vocals !
Bonus !; Theres a mina fanclub because how favored she is and bakugou is SICK of the attention they get when they're out in public. She loves it.
SERO HANTA:
Tumblr media
"Happy song - Bring Me The Horizon"
Definitely more of a hard rock kinda guy. Probably listens to songs like this 24/7 before any of their gigs ! Though he listens to music like this, he's probably the most laidback in the group but he'll join in on the fun! THE LEVELHEADED ONE. if the others go too far, he'll be the one going after them and apologizing for whatever stupid shit they did. Lyrical genius, he focuses mo re on the songwriting and composing for the band (ofc they all try to work together though ! hes just a little better at it)
Definitely the bassist and does some backup vocals !
Bonus!; He knows how to play almost any instrument since he loves writing and is open to anything ! LOVE <33
DENKI KAMINARI:
Tumblr media
"A Match into Water - Pierce the Veil"
ok i said i wasnt gonna use this song bc its so popular for him BUT IT FITS SO I FOLD !! Definitely listens to this kind of music no matter the occasion, i also feel like he'll dress like how emo/punk people did back in 2010 but like- pull it off yk? The most energetic in the group, THE COCKY MF !! just bc hes pretty with all of his piercings he always gloats how everyone in the crowd is there for him which he receives a hard smack in the back of the head for (everyone say thank you bakugou). He also works on branding the group rather than the actual songwriting process.
He'll most likely be the lead singer + another guitarist when he's not flirting with the crowd.
Bonus !; has a bright ass tongue piercing so whenever he sticks it out on stage, the crowd goes CRAZYYY.
Eijirou Kirishima:
Tumblr media
"Can You Feel My Heart - Bring Me The Horizon"
Probably one of the heaviest rockers in the group (alongside bakugou). He definitely is most naturally intimidating of the group due to his intense getup (leather, hella face piercings + tattoos. Also i hc him being tall as FUCK and with all of those muscles too? yeah no id be running AWAY if i saw that mf on the street at night.) . ANYWAY, although hes the most naturally intimidating person there is, hes actually the nicest one of the bunch. Never misses a moment to help the stage crew for anything they need, and constantly checking on all of the bandmates. I LOVE THIS MAN SO MUCH Definitely helps in the composition and production of songs.
I see him switching of drums with bakugou (DRUMMER KIRISHIMA <333333) and a bassist/another guitarist.
Bonus ?: since he he has such a rough voice and cant really sing smoothly, whenever they have more hardcore songs, you best know that he's behind that mic tearing that shit up !
Katsuki Bakugou:
Tumblr media
"Hayloft - Mother Mother"
ok yk i had to give him this song i mean COME AWNNNN NEOWWW. He definitely is one of the crazy rock enthusiasts of the group. The least but most levelheaded of the group (idk if that made sense-) KEEP AWAY FROM ANNOYING CROWDS!! All of them have to watch him because if he hears one thing, its over for everyone. Although he's such a natural standoffish person to his bandmates, he does care for them. He may call half of their ideas stupid and crazy (read; Mina and Kaminari's) but he does consider their thoughts and input for songs/concepts. Another one of the composers and tries to help song write but Sero keeps on saying his lyrics are "too aggressive and malicious" which he believes is stupid.
Switches off the drums with Kiri but prefers to stay on them. He also knows how to play every other instrument so hes able to fit around in any area.
Bonus !; The most tatted of the group. Definitely has a lot of chest/back tattoos and arm tattoos here and there. He usually wears those sleeveless muscle-tees so theres like hundreds of fancams of just his peck tattoos (pretends hes annoyed by it but his ego is just boosting every time he see's one.

22 year old trans girl, 5'9". I have long curly brown hair, chubby and happy w/it. I'm really into cartoons and folk punk, and have been learning how to draw and trying to get back into biking. We could go to a river beach and jump into the river from overhanging rocks where it gets deep, and then drive to the ocean and watch the sun go down and the stars come up :)
Sounds like a date love <333333

Hi!! I love your blog and I was wondering if I could get a personal ship with Castiel please? I'm sarcastic and a little cold when you first meet me but I'm actually just a introverted nerd who can be very sweet at times. I love reading, writing, drawing, baking and anime. My favorite colors are black and blue and my favorite genre of music is either KPOP or Punk Rock. I hope I did this correctly and thank you again
***A/N: This is a text chain between you and Castiel.  I LOVE doing Castiel text chains!!! ^^ ***
8:30 pm
Castiel: What is the type of music you prefer again?
You: Uh...KPOP?  Why do you ask?
Castiel: Dean has made a comment about how only his music is considered pleasing.  I rather enjoy your music, so I wanted to defend it.
You: Oh, no!  Castiel, don’t!
Castiel: Why is Dean laughing at me?
Castiel: I don’t understand...  Is KPOP not a genera of music?
You: Oh sweetie...
Castiel:  Oh, I understand now...Sam has explained it to me.  He says Dean is being a woman’s hygiene product.
You: ...
You: He’s being a what?
Castiel:  A woman’s hygiene product.
You: Hold on...
[You text Sam for clarification]
You: A douche.  He called him a douche.
Castiel: Is that not what I said?
You: ...It is exactly what you said.  Love you!
Castiel: Love you too.
1:23 am
Castiel: I was unaware that you and Dean shared similar tastes in movies.
You: Cas...look at the clock...it is too early for this.
You: ...wait, what?
Castiel: You both have an enjoyment for animated films.
Castiel: This seems to be a very intense animated film.
You: Cas, that...that’s not the same thing I watch.  That is nothing close to what I watch...just, turn it off.
Castiel: This reminds me of the pizza man.
You: CAS TURN IT OFF!
Castiel: I don’t understand...why would Dean prefer this over the pizza man
You: I’m going to bed. It is too early for this.
1:27 am
Dean: I caught your boyfriend watching...stuff on my computer!
You: Seriously?  It’s called a clock! Anyway! Why are you so angry?
Dean: It was on my computer!
You: IF YOU DON’T WANT HIM TO WATCH IT THEN DON’T DOWNLOAD IT!
3:15 am
Castiel: Sam was kind enough to download some movies from the genre, he called anime, that you like.
Castiel: I enjoy these movies much more than the ones Dean has.
You: Clock. Look AT IT!
8:20 pm
Castiel: Sam is unable to find any more anime for me to watch...do you have any?
You: I have some here, why don’t you stop by and we will have a movie day? ^^
9:45 pm
Dean: Uh...So, we kinda need Cas’ help on this hunt...can you send him back?

Just a Sticker: Roll Like A Girl
A few months ago there was something I was excited about on kickstarter. I know; that’s pretty much every day these days, isn’t it? But this was a small thing, really, and I spotted it on twitter as I sat down with friends at Breakout Con in Toronto. Alysa Avery was kickstarting “Roll Like A Girl” enamel pins, and I loved them, and heck yeah I wanted one. Fast forward to last week.
 Whether she knew it or not, Alysa hit everything I wanted with this one little graphic.

I knew they’d been shipping and there was a tiny package in my mailbox; I guessed that was what it was and I was correct. Even better, we’d hit the stretch goals to all get stickers of the pattern, so when I opened it up there were also four stickers, one in each color. It was like the best present to future me I could have imagined. I spent several days deciding which sticker I was going to commit to on my water bottle, taking into account things like the age of the water bottle and its current life expectancy.  And finally, I put one on. And I LOVE it. I love this pin. I love this design. Whether she knew it or not, Alysa hit everything I wanted with this one little graphic. Indulge me as I dissect this wonderful little piece.
Finally decided which of these awesome roll like a girl stickers to put on my water bottle! Much thanks to @Lissinatorr for the awesome Kickstarter—so glad I jumped on that! pic.twitter.com/tVZ9IippHx

Firstly, it proclaims “Roll Like a Girl”, wrapped around a d20 showing the 20 side up. Critical success. Heck yes, I roll like success, I roll like winning, I roll like I own this die (oh wait, I do, it’s my die). This is both how we are successful today as women in gaming, and our future success — a promise to ourselves, if you will, of the continuing progress to come. Of the outcome of our ongoing efforts. We know it’s better than it was, and we can celebrate that success while working towards a more inclusive tomorrow, for everyone.
The d20 is embedded in a variety of flowers. They are soft, scented (I mean it’s a sticker but they give you that feeling) and lush. Sure, it’s stereotypically feminine, but here I am, a soft girly girl who likes feelsy games. That’s not every girl in gaming and I don’t presume to say it is, and in other colors of this sticker they pack a little more punk rock grrrl power punch, but for me, this works. It’s not hard and tactical, it feels welcoming. You might even say it’s blooming — the same way we can bloom as people when we play together, learn from each other, and share that time and ourselves with each other at the table.
 Even if this one is pointed at me, I want the next one to be pointed at you, friend, because I want you to have this feeling too.

It’s a simple thing, a cute graphic sticker (I have the pin also of course — I am deciding what place of honor it will get), but it’s something that makes me feel included and like I can really belong and represent myself in the gaming community. It connects me to my chosen space in a way that I am proud of. I want everyone to have a symbol like this, that connects to them and their chosen space like this does for me. I want gaming to have that space for everyone. I want it to be safe and supportive for all the different experiences we bring to the table. So this sticker is also hope — a hope that we can all get there, together. Even if this one is pointed at me, I want the next one to be pointed at you, friend, because I want you to have this feeling too.
If you are interested in the roll like a girl design, you can still get it as a shirt from Red Bubble — check out Alysa Avery here: alysaavery.wixsite.com/illustration or on her twitter @Lissantorr. Heresay has it the pins may show up on her Etsy store soon so keep an eye out!
Is there some piece of geek fashion or accessory that makes you feel like you belong? I want to hear about it!

The Dickies Trigger A Bunch Of Whiney Emo Kids At The Warped Tour
When I typically think of the Warped Tour, the first thing that comes to mind is a crowd of middle-class teenagers with dyed hair safely moshing about to the crying “whooos” and “ooohs” of their favorite emo-metal hybrid bands. Let’s face it, the Warped Tour today isn’t the same Warped Tour that I remember from the 90’s. I remember how lame it was back then, but at least the factor of tears still wasn’t a thing. All we had to deal with were obnoxious Korn kids disrupting the circle pit with their dank bounce mosh.
Now enter punk rock legends, The Dickies. And if there could be an annual Grammy award given for punk rock, these vets deserve it. This past weekend, they took to the Hard Rock Stage at the Warped Tour in Denver, CO. Now if you’re a veteran of the punk scene, their stage antics shouldn’t offend you the slightest. But then again, the majority of the people who attend The Warped Tour aren’t exactly punk rock buffs to say the least. That’s why a group of emo kids became triggered during The Dickies’ set. Let’s face it, they’re a bunch of crusty old men playing actual punk rock. They’re not a tattooed screamo band trying to look cute on stage so they can impress a fan-base of 15 year olds.
And because their singer, Leonard Graves, made a joke about going down on showgoers, a triggered girl in the crowd accused him of being a predator. The group accompanying the girl continued to heckle the band and even attempted to assault them with a sign that read “Punks Not Predatory.” Graves unleashed the almighty “c*nt,” which raised the factor of tears so high that The Dickies got booted off The Warped Tour. If anything, the girl was probably looking for an opportunity to appear heroic and righteous and the poor Dickies happened to be on the receiving end of her idiocy. The ironic part about calling The Dickies a bunch of old predators, is that while they tend to joke about it, they’re not actually following through with it. The same can’t be said about all these emo/screamo bands comprising of grown men being worshipped by 13 year old girls. I mean, just take a look at every emo kid’s hero, Ian Watkins.
The bottom line; you can’t call yourself punk rock, and at the same time, be triggered by a band like The Dickies. Most of these kids who continue to cry about this band and insult them on social media would have never survived a punk show in the 80’s or even 90’s (when I got into it). They would cry so hard, they’re heads would explode. And if you’re one of these kids, then check out the song I left for you below. It’s actually pretty good, and since it’s about crying, I’m sure you can relate to it. It might even expand your taste in music. Also check out the statement given by The Dickies:

It has come to my attention that a snippet from a recent incident during the Van’s Warped Tour is floating around the internet, indeed here in every comment section on The Dickies page.
This is the context: While doing our show a handful of people took it upon themselves to express their ire with my routine–a routine that includes apish antics, a penis puppet, and often ends with me saying, “You’re a great looking bunch of kids. We’d love to go down on each and every one of you but we just don’t have the time.”
Apparently this group thought I meant it literally as they were holding a sign on the side of the stage (which was then thrown at me) that read:
“Our teenage girls don’t need to be subjected to derogatory jokes by a disgusting old man” “Punk isn’t predatory”
It appears the audience and myself were to be lectured about common decency as well as the very raison d’être of Punk Rock by this woman and her friends during the entire set.
I finally let my anger get the better of me. I let her know what I thought of her ageist, nasty, Leonard-hating behavior. I used very rude language. I understand the word “cunt” is inflammatory and that many women have been abused by this word. I should have called her an “asshole.”
It wasn’t my proudest moment … but neither was the time I urinated on the audience. I wasn’t there to “prey” on anyone’s child. In all honesty, as fine as most of my audiences are, I’ll pass on having oral sex with each and every one of them. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to affix my groovy new “I *heart* Beaver” magnet (that I picked up in Beaver, Colorado) to the refrigerator and listen to “Beat On The Brat” by The Ramones. If some of you kids haven’t heard of them yet, check ’em out! They’re pretty cool.

Album Reviews: The Buttertones 'Gravediggin'
Genre: Garage, surf, punk Release Date: March 31, 2017 Number of Tracks: 11 Label: Innovative Leisure  Rating:
Purchase MP3 / CD / Vinyl
Los Angeles surf-garage outfit The Buttertones operate in a different era than many bands to emerge from the garage explosion of recent years. They’re musical landscape of 60’s throwback surf-rock and proto-punk is convincing enough to believe they could’ve been spawned from the Golden Nuggets era. The band doesn’t waste any time on their third studio album Gravediggin’. Without introduction or anticipation, they jump right into “Pistol Whip” with punked-up rhythm guitars, surfy drums and sinister vocals.
ch_client = "dprice80"; ch_width = 450; ch_height = 90; ch_type = "mpu"; ch_sid = "Chitika Default"; ch_color_site_link = "#164675"; ch_backfill = 1;ch_color_title = "#164675"; ch_color_border = "#B0C9EB"; ch_color_text = "#333333"; ch_color_bg = "#FFFFFF";
Gravediggin’ sounds like something straight out of a Southern Cali action film. Maybe it’s the Dick Dale-esque surf leads that evoke similarities to Pulp Fiction. Or perhaps the doomy aura of a Western film on “Neon Cowboy.” But the band flexes their surf-punk prowess with twangy guitar chops, Cramps-esque vocals and the abrasive static-filled saxophone on “Sadie’s A Sadist,” “Moroccan Mansion” and “Two-Headed Shark.” The band reveals their tamer side on the doo-wop ballad “I Ran Away,” which embodies something of a 60’s teenage love song.
Grave Diggin’ could possibly be the most dynamic and melodramatic garage-rock album of 2017. The Buttertones aren’t just another garage band citing The Sonics as their main driving force. These guys are the real deal. Their substance-driven and authentic sound speaks for itself.

Album Reviews: The Jesus And Mary Chain 'Damage and Joy'
  Genre: Alternative, post-punk Release Date: March 24, 2017 Number of Tracks: 14 Label: Artificial Plastic Records Rating:
Purchase MP3 / CD / Vinyl
Brothers Jim Reid and William Reid, now approaching their 60’s, may have been at each other’s throats since 1985’s Psychocandy, but sometimes with great conflict comes great music. The two have managed to tone things down over the years and come to terms with the fact they they truly despise each other. On “Facing Up To The Facts,” Jim reiterates the lyrics “I hate my brother and he hates me / that’s the way it’s suppose to be.” In fact, the two can barely spend any duration of time in the studio together.
ch_client = "dprice80"; ch_width = 450; ch_height = 90; ch_type = "mpu"; ch_sid = "Chitika Default"; ch_color_site_link = "#164675"; ch_backfill = 1;ch_color_title = "#164675"; ch_color_border = "#B0C9EB"; ch_color_text = "#333333"; ch_color_bg = "#FFFFFF";
After quickly descending from the noisy post-punk era of the 80’s, The Jesus and Mary Chain reached their final form of atmospheric alt-rock. It’s been nearly two decades since the band has released anything new, but they’ve picked up where they left off on their seventh studio album Damage and Joy. In comparison to 1994’s Stoned and Dethroned and 1998’s Munki, the band’s vital sound has yet to diminish. The Jesus and Mary Chain never went completely dormant. In fact, much of Damage and Joy consists of rerecorded songs written by Jim Reid and other side monikers.
Rock n’ roll seems to be a common theme covered by The Jesus and Mary Chain, and somehow they manage to slip it into their songwriting without sounding cheesy. Monki starts with “I Love Rock ‘N’ Roll” and ends with “I Hate Rock ‘N’ Roll,” leaving behind a trail muddling love-hate relationships with the genre. But on Damage and Joy, Jim Reid clarifies that he’s a “rock n’ roll amputation” on the the opener “Amputation.” He ends the album with a message to the United Nations that “you can’t stop the rock” on the feathery T-Rex-ish closer “Can’t Stop the Rock.” Of course, this is something we would expect from that 80’s cock-rock band that are only relevant to those with a knack for irony. The cheesy lyrics sound all too casual coming from Jim Reid and that’s why it seems to work.
For an aging band, Damage and Joy is an eon of post-youth buoyancy. At the very worst, the filler tracks just sound exhausted but tolerable. The album was produced by Killing Joke bassist Youth, which could explain the heightened post-punk elements brought into the mix. Barreling tambourines, shoegazy guitars and breath vocal harmonies have always been the staple for The Jesus and Mary Chain’s soundscape, and it’s all still intact. The hooks are particularly strong on “All Things Pass,” “Always Sad,” “Get on Home” and “Simian Split.” That’s just to name a few and for a band that hasn’t released anything in 19 year, Damage and Joy sounds just as relevant as The Jesus and Mary Chain’s earlier discography.

Album Reviews: Pissed Jeans 'Why Love Now'
by Dillon Price on February 24, 2017
  Genre: Rock, metal, punk Release Date: February 24, 2017 Number of Tracks: 12 Label: Sub Pop Records Rating:
Purchase MP3 / CD / Vinyl
Pennsylvania noise-punks Pissed Jeans unleash an assault of sludgy guitars and grumbling vocals that bemoan about the insanity of modern life. The band is scheduled to play SWSX, which may seem detrimental to their style considering the typical hipster turnout. But even the most indifferent and soulless hipsters might find themselves cringing at Pissed Jeans’ earth shattering sound with the driving force of barreling guitars and brash vocals.
ch_client = "dprice80"; ch_width = 450; ch_height = 90; ch_type = "mpu"; ch_sid = "Chitika Default"; ch_color_site_link = "#164675"; ch_backfill = 1;ch_color_title = "#164675"; ch_color_border = "#B0C9EB"; ch_color_text = "#333333"; ch_color_bg = "#FFFFFF";
Vocalist Matt Korvette’s growls the lyrics “I use to play punk / now I’m just singing the blues” on opening track “Waiting On My Horrible Warning.” The sludgy downbeat, sluggish bass lines and raspy blues-driven vocals fall somewhere between Tom Waits and Killdozer. Speaking of playing punk, much of Why Love Now embodies some of the noisy elements of Black Flag’s Damaged, particularly “Ignorecam” and “It’s Your Knees.” The dynamic buildups on “The Bar Is Low” and “Cold Whip Cream” propels Pissed Jeans’ muddy sound into a barreling attack of punk rock abrasiveness.
Like the rest of Pissed Jeans’ discography, Korvette expresses scorn for the mundane situations we face everyday. In that sense, Korvette often sounds like one Facebook friend who rants about annoying people on a daily basis. In context, there is very little to speak of politically. But Pissed Jeans’ feminist approach to “I’m A Man,” sounds more comical than convincing. The sarcastic spoken word tells the story patriarchal privilege in the workplace, but ends up sounding like one of those infomercial skits on Saturday Night Live.
Korvette ends Why Love Now with cynical lyrics about relationship troubles on “Not Even Married.” His angry and brash vocals screech over barreling guitars, reminding us of all the things we have to be bitter about. In terms of production, Why Love Now is raw and muddy. The only downside is the missing echos and slap-back vocals that gave somr of Pissed Jeans’ earlier music an aura of Cramps-esque raunchiness.

Album Reviews: Crystal Fairy 'Crystal Fairy'
by Dillon Price on February 22, 2017
  Genre: Rock, sludge, metal Release Date: February 24, 2017 Number of Tracks: 11 Label: Ipecac Recordings Rating:
Purchase MP3 / CD / Vinyl
What happens when Melvins’ Buzz Osborne and Dale Crover, At The Drive In’s Omar Rodriguez-Lopez and Le Butcherettes’ Teri Gender Bender infuse their musical prowess? Supergroup Crystal Fairy captures the idiosyncratic fragments of sludge, psychedelic and punk espoused by collaborating members. The proto-concept of Crystal Fairy was conceived during a 2015 Melvins’ tour with Le Butcherettes when the two bands bonded over their love of pizza and Bikini Kill. The 11 tracks on this album are shape-shifting and genre bending, but the elements of sound brought forth by each member are too distinct to overlook. Osborne’s crunchy and barreling guitar riffs are driving force that propels the supergroup’s sound forward on “Chiseler,” “Crystal Fairy,” “Bent Teeth” and “Vampire X-Mas.” Osbourne ushers in his Melvins sludge aptitude on”Moth Tongue” and “Secret Agent Rat” with deep earth shattering guitar riffs.
ch_client = "dprice80"; ch_width = 450; ch_height = 90; ch_type = "mpu"; ch_sid = "Chitika Default"; ch_color_site_link = "#164675"; ch_backfill = 1;ch_color_title = "#164675"; ch_color_border = "#B0C9EB"; ch_color_text = "#333333"; ch_color_bg = "#FFFFFF";
Something about the elements of sludge metal bring out an alternate tonality in Teri Gender Bender’s vocals. While Le Butcherette’s music differs from Crystal Fairy, her voice is flexible enough to adapt to the driving force of Osborne’s guitar. But Gender Bender’s vocals are the touchstone of lead single “Drugs on The Bus” and “Sweet Self” where everything else seems to trail behind. The progressive aura of Mars Volta is subtle on most of the album, but their experimental and mathy touch can be heard on “Posesion” While Crystal Fairy delves into a sonic twilight of defiance, they occasional adhere to rock n’ roll traditions. The hooks on “Necklace of Divorce” are vivid and straightforward. Self-titled track “Crystal Fairy” is another no-frills track with added traditional rock overtones and cheesy 80’s rock banter after the second half of the song.
Overall, Crystal Fairy is diverse, dynamic and progressive. Whether Gender Bender’s vocals wouldn’t work with the Melvins, or Osbourne’s guitar style wouldn’t work with Le Butcherettes is irrelevant. Every piece of the mix captured by Crystal Fairy seems to work.
