Here’s more for this Lost Toys “AU” This weeks edition: The Cupbros.

Starring Cuphead as the toy soldier figurine and Mugman as the toy knight figurine.

For this Lost Toys AU each character is designed to be a certain toy I believe reflects their personality and situations in IM. For the cupbros I decided to make Cup a soldier to represent his willingness to obey a higher power. Or, rather, his fear of the outcome if he disobeys. I then chose Mugman to be a knight to represent his willingness to pursue freedom in comparison to his brother. Also because Calix Animi. Plus Cuphead’s willingness to go to extremes to survive. And mugman wanting to change and persue chivalry, honor, good morals, etc, etc.

Never mind the fact I pretty much dressed up Cuphead as my first fictional crush… ahem… 👀

I’ll have to get into backstories at a later time but that is all I have for the time being!

alright, Build A Bear is absolutely wild with their releases and archiving. if I look at the official Build a Bear wiki, my childhood bear does not exist. That is because, this

I just learned it's a "Blow Kisses" or "Blow A Kiss" bear today! every single selling post with him in it advertises it as super rare, and I thought this was just something old Build A Bear sellers did.

remember those zoobles plush posts i made a few months ago? well i think i might turn it into a series on here, where i will post about obscure/unreleased merch that interests me. today we have the mystery of the spacy brothers tamagotchi friends figure.

tamagotchi friends was a very short lived figure line for the very short lived tamagotchi friends release in the us. they were released in 2014 and only at toys r us. some figures came in playsets, some in single packs, and there was one(?) pack that had 5 characters in it. some characters are harder to find now than others, yumecantchi being the rarest in my opinion since i rarely see her go up for sale. i loved this figure line and i got into the tamagotchi anime on the tail end of this release, meaning a lot of these figures were now super cheap because the line flopped in america. but one thing that i always thought was weird were the choices of characters they made figures of. main characters like memetchi and kuchipatchi didn't receive figures yet characters like harptchi got figures? very strange. however, a while ago, i stumbled upon this image:

as i said before, this line did not do well in america and was forgotten about pretty quickly. so my first thought was "well, since this didn't do well, these are probably prototypes that were never released." but do you see the set below spacytchi? the "dream school classmates" set? that was released.

here's an ebay listing from last year that hasn't sold. and there's another on ebay from this year that also hasn't sold. (probably because they're both over 80 bucks....)

so if these released, what about kuchipatchi and spacytchi? i have yet to see any photos of spacytchi or kuchipatchi online. it could be possible that they released but have little to no documentation online.

while making this post, i also thought that it may be possible that this set released because they are just variants of already existing figures with different faces. (julietchi and himespetchi are the exact same figures). i also noticed that i have never seen the single pack for mametchi online anywhere, so that leads me to believe only this set was released.

and again while making this post i went back to the original post from ashkeilolita, and i found a comment from user auronsgirl saying the following: Someone asked about these figures on the Tamagotchi Friends FB page. And they said they were figures they were planning on releasing but no stores wanted to pick them up to sell them. So they won’t be getting made and sold at all now.

so... i guess that solves that mystery :(.

BUT, maybe there are unreleased figures out there? kuchipatchi has plenty of figures, but spacytchi only has one (a rare gashapon) and his brothers don't have any. it sucks these didn't end up releasing, but i can kinda see why. i would rather tamagotchi made new characters like these rather than rereleases but oh well.

what did yall think? i wanna do more of these so let me know if you have any ideas for things i should look into!

Yo unrelated to regular blog clownery, but like, does anyone know what these are? I've had them since I was a kid, but I can't tell if they're knock off lps. If anyone knows what collection these are from, I'd greatly appreciate a dm 🙏💕

on a hunt for my childhood favourite toy that i lost several years ago.

all i found was a nine-year-old article about John Lewis (the shop) making a one-off copy of an out of production toy for a kid who had lost theirs.

This was the image attached. That's her. that's my childhood. i can remember what texture her nose feels like and how much she weighed when i held her.

So now i know who sold her, and when(ish) she was in production, and that she's not anymore, and i also know that its unlikely that I'm gonna be able to buy a new one so i wont see her again. :(

APLAP (Assigned Pathetic Lifeform at Padawanship)

New padawan Obi-Wan trying to figure out how the FUCK to make his master listen and not abandon him to go running off following "the will of the force" when it hits him. Qui-Gon is perfectly happy stopping and taking care of pathetic life forms, but not Obi-Wan. That's it. He's always been prepared, always been dutiful, strong, self-sufficient.

He's cracked the code. He needs to be more pathetic.

The next time he senses Qui-Gon's about to run off he coordinates a scene of utmost pathetic-ness, that is, he throws himself into the nearest fountain. He trudges up to his master sopping wet, water-logged robes swallowing him, with hair sticking to his face and containing bits of algae from the fountain. He mumbles out an apology for being clumsy before looking up at Qui-Gon with the biggest, most woeful eyes possible to ask if he happened to bring any spare robes (he didn't, Obi-Wan knows this because he is usually the one to pack spare robes for them both). His wet hair is dripping water into his eyes that's beginning to turn them an irritated red, and there's algae sliding down the side of his face, it really is masterful work.

"Oh...I'm sure I'll be able to find something by myself, it's okay Master, I know you had important work to do."

Qui-Gon visibly hesitates. Obi-Wan starts shivering. He turns to walk away. He's stopped by his Master's hand on his shoulder. His Master, who walks back with him, who gets clean clothes from their hosts, who has folded like wet flimsi and even explains his stupid, stupid plan before choosing to hotwire a hoverbike with a passenger seat! Oh, Obi-Wan really has cracked the code!

Afterwards, Obi-Wan stages an increasingly pitiful accident for himself every time his patented 'Qui-Gon Jinn Bullshit' detector goes off. Eventually, his Master stops leaving him behind at all, even giving him funny looks when he turns around and Obi-Wan isn’t next to him. It never fails to make Obi-Wan grin and run to catch up. Sure, his reputation as a perfect padawan is in tatters, alongside his dignity, but it’s a small price to pay for a place at his Master’s side, for him to remember there’s a place for Obi-Wan there.

When the ray shields come up on Naboo, Qui-Gon doesn't charge ahead and leave his padawan behind, he hasn't for years. He waits for Obi-Wan because it feels wrong to do otherwise, his padawan belongs at his side.

Much, much later, when Obi-Wan is drinking to the end of the war with friends, Commander Cress will ask him how he kept General Jinn from running off for entire decade. Obi-Wan laughs, informs him, and resolutely ignores the scene Quinlan is making as the man cackles and pulls up a book to shove at them both, titled Classical Conditioning 101: A guide to subtle psychological manipulation.

New AU/drawing concept?

Found out about this story from the lost media wiki forums and thought it was so interesting and funny. I am hoping toyblr can have more info on this toy.

In 2003, there was a toy recall at Walmart, but not for any of the expected reasons. The toy was a baby's sound machine, meant to soothe babies to bed. The toy was shaped like a tugboat, with some cute sea critters to top it all off.

The problem? Many parents listening to the ocean wave sounds heard a faint voice repeating "I hate you" over and over again. Whether the audio of a voice saying "I hate you" was actually in the sounds, or if it is a case of pareidolia is unknown, however interestingly in one news article*, Walmart did not chalk it up to the phenomenon, calling the noise parents were concerned about "beeps" instead.

The toy was very quickly recalled, no evidence of its existence is documented outside of photos and news articles from the time period. It is a miracle the high quality photo displayed above exists at all.

This is where I think toyblr could step in, if any of you guys have collected toys from 2003 or know someone who has, see if you have this toy and if its audio still works. It would be an incredible find for such a bizarre and somewhat funny search.

More important info:

This toy was under Walmart's "Kid Connections" brand and was presumably manufactured in China. However, the toy could have been manufactured anywhere outside of America as stated in a rant against the brand:

To save money, Wal-Mart contracts with manufacturers to make several private label toys, which are sold under names such as Wal-Mart's Kid Connection. Profit margins on these products, many of which are manufactured outside the United States, are often twice those of brand-name toys, said the executive, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he continues to do business with the retailer.

This toy was made as a cheaper alternative/competitor to Fisher Price's Ocean Wonders Aquarium toy. While there's similarities in design and function, Ocean Wonders Aquarium does not share the same audio as the recalled toy.

I would love for this to be found some day, for the novelty factor and curiosity if the audio really did include that "subliminal message".
