Mama Bear-Cat Seeks New Home

I went to a show tonight (K.Flay at The Wiltern, with a friend I hadn't seen in... at least 6 years?) but that's not what I want to write about. I did have some truly "in the moment" MOMENTS but I was plagued, have been plagued by our downstairs neighbors. I left Des with a sitter (obvs) and primed her on their hypersensitivity. Maybe I didn't need to, because management sent out an email today reminding everyone that "house rules" for quiet time are 10PM - 8AM. NOT 6:15 or 7:30 or 8:17 you TWITS. 

I think I've written about this before - perhaps last July, because they complained on the morning of July 5th, after the loudest holiday of the year? And then during the heatwave, when it was 103 out but we still attempted to GO TO THE PARK because of these precious assholes?

We got into it the other night, after I got a "can you please keep it down" text at 8:17 (that seems to be their breaking point) on Saturday while we were putting Desmond's toys away.

Listen, I have LITERALLY been fucking tip toeing for these fools for a YEAR. I feel defensive and fierce. Yes, I can make an effort but am I going to ask my developing preschooler to tip toe? Absolutely fucking not. I tell him to walk when putting his toys away after 8pm. When we play in his room I ask him not to jump because its above THE BABY. The other day he got mad and stomped and I scooped him up and took him to our bed because I couldn't deal with both upstairs and downstairs emotions. The night of the text message war I was rage-crying, and then Desmond cried because he thought I was mad at him, and it WAS A THING. I had to compartmentalize. We played a funny rhyming game. We talked about cheese. He says if the neighbors make me "scared"again he will "cheer me up."

I will not raise this kid in movement captivity.

Our across the way neighbors moved out and I ALMOST wanted to ask if we could just shuffle on over there. But it would not keep me from wanting to scrape the faces of those downstairs plebs. I have BEEN a downstairs neighbor. I know what's considerate and what's not.

People have been mad for me. My stepmom, my mom friends, my sitter. They say: Take up space you don't owe them anything you pay rent he's just a boy live your life.

But, it's stressful. I find myself hoping the next tenants will wear heavy boots and come home at 2am. Dance more than at 15-second intervals. (This was a real complaint, while my mom was reading The Three Little Pigs via Portal). I feel acid leaking into my gut when we drive home from preschool - will Des want to play "baseball" with disposable cups and a cat toy? Could be too loud. Even if we've been out all day - at the garden, at the park, at the library - will our footsteps disturb? I, we, can't live like this.

Looking for a 2bd or a big 1 bdr, cat friendly with a parking spot.
