I'm always looking for good livebloggers, since you apparently follow some, who do you recommend?

Oh, that's a great question!

I have to preface my answer by saying that I don't have much information on livebloggers who are specifically liveblogging The Owl House (or Amphibia), because I'm not seeking out liveblogs for either show at the moment for obvious reasons. Generally, I look for liveblogs for shows I've already watched, such as SU. (SU in particular is the most popular subject for liveblogs as far as I've seen, so there are a lot of them!)

With that said, here are a few liveblogs I'd personally recommend, mostly either complete or ongoing. I'll just be highlighting the shows they've watched that I'm personally familiar with, but some of them have watched plenty more than what I mention.

loreweaver-universe - as far as I know, this guy was one of the first SU livebloggers, if not the first. Has complete liveblogs of SU and OtGW, plus I think a couple others? One of the three (3) people I've ever seen liveblog Mob Psycho 100 (and the only one who’s still active), though has stalled indefinitely on that one at two episodes in as far as I can see. To be honest, I’m not... entirely sure what his schedule is at the moment? I'm not actively following him right now, because as far as I'm aware, he's currently liveblogging both The Owl House and Amphibia, and I’m trying to avoid spoilers.

But from what I can tell, he seems fairly active, with a couple of liveblogs every month or so, I think? Plus a bunch of game streams in between. Probably the liveblogger who’s remained active over the longest period of time that I've ever seen, so he’s definitely a good one to follow for consistency. That said, I think he’s pretty well-known as far as liveblogs go, so you probably already know about him! I’m mostly including him as a technicality.

zephyrthejester - currently appears to be on an indefinite hiatus, but did a lot of liveblogging back in the day scratch that, it looks as if they're currently active on their youtube channel! One of the few livebloggers whose episode rating system I’ve actually liked, as they rated episodes purely based on personal enjoyment. While they’re not actively liveblogging at the moment, they got through quite a few shows back when they were.

Has done a complete liveblog of SU, plus both FMA anime adaptations! Did a few other anime as well. On their let's play channel, they have a complete playthrough of the Ace Attorney trilogy, and they appear to have gotten started on Apollo Justice recently. It seems they’ve also done a challenge run of Hollow Knight. If you’re interested in let’s plays, or their completed liveblogs sound fun, check them out!

thelreads - unusually for most of the liveblogs I keep up with, they exclusively liveblog stuff through reading it rather than watching! Has liveblogs of BNHA and Spy x Family, plus a couple others. As far as I can tell, they're pretty active for the most part! This blog is a good one to follow if you’re interested in any of those series!

suworkbook - including this one on a technicality, since all of her liveblogs other than SU are on hold indefinitely. Other liveblogs can be found here: includes the beginnings of OtGW, A:tLA, and a couple others. Currently liveblogging SU only; active but updates pretty infrequently. I enjoy her observations a lot! If you feel that good liveblogging is worth the wait (as I do), she’s a great one to follow.

cheesy-kitten-liveblogs - exclusively a SU liveblog so far, and probably the one I’m following most actively, because they’re an active liveblog blogging a show that I know fairly consistently. They’re a good one to follow if you like SU liveblogs and great analysis! They’re just now finishing up Season 1, so it’s a great time to check them out.

I probably took some subconscious inspiration from them for my own blog’s URL and colours but I didn’t really think about it until I was already set on both

light blue just feels like a liveblog colour, you know?

There’s one other blog I can think of, but it’s not exactly a liveblog blog, so I’m going to leave that one out of this for now.

I’m certain there are other good liveblogs that I’ve forgotten about or simply am not aware of, so I’m extending an open invitation to anyone to add on to this post with any recommendations of your own!

2022 Omniverse Rewatch + Episode Ranking

Part 1: Intro and Arc 1

What I’m doing: rewatching each episode of Omniverse, in honor of the 10th anniversary of the show, giving my thoughts/reactions, and re-evaluating/ranking them accordingly as I watch them. Basically going to be rewatching each episode and ranking them higher or lower than the last one, both per-season and in comparison to the rest of the show, as opposed to what I did the first time I liveblogged and ranked all the episodes, where I ranked each season best to worst, then put all the episodes with the same number in order from favorite to least favorite. I’ll also be comparing my original rankings from when I did this in 2016.

Who is inspiring me to do this: A combination of people!

Loreweaver Universe, who has done the same ranking system especially with Steven Universe.

Matt @yo-its-matt and Rob/Kuro the Artist, probably the biggest Ben 10 fans I know of, I appreciate all of their content, they make great stuff

The From the Spirit World podcast and their multiple episodes on ranking the Avatar the Last Airbender/Legend of Korra episodes.

Why I’m doing this: again, 10th anniversary of the show, I know I’ve liveblogged it all but I wanted to give each episode a re-evaluation, and I just like watching it. Also I’ve watched some episodes more than others, but I wanted to see some of the ones I’ve only watched once or twice in addition to my faves.

When I’m doing all of this: because there are exactly 8 weeks between August 1st, the premiere of The More Things Change part 1, and September 22, the official premiere of the show, and there are 8 story arcs in the show, I will be covering exactly 1 arc a week between today and September 22nd so as to encompass both premieres.

Other stuff: will also be watching these in production order, and also watching them on Hulu, where they are unfortunately in airing order. Will be ignoring that. Also this is just me having fun and my own opinions/biases, so take that as you will.

assorted thoughts/observations (not completely in episode order, just as I thought of them), part 1:

so why is Gravattack’s name spelled “Gravitonn” at first

“Incursean” and “Milleous” are spelled wrong in the captions

Ben mentions “dunk tanks”, which come up later

Episode 3, which includes Rook mentioning Alien X, flows much better into episode 4, where he uses him

Contemelia ship looks the same as in the final episode, but darker

I do really like that Ben is trying to figure out the Nemetrix aliens thing

1x05 is the first time in this series that someone says “curse you, Ben Tennyson”

1x05 also has a Nemetrix time-out noise reminiscent of the OS Omnitrix time-out noise I think

Rene’s Azmuth voice is a bit higher-pitched than I remember. Maybe it gets lower later on?

maaaan. I wonder what Malware could have done with Corrodium if he found it/what effect it would have on him

Corey’s Malware voice in Trouble Helix is kind of a blend of his Megatron and his Ratchet

Trouble Helix: Helix turns red because Albedo was messing with it, Malware connects to it

Showdown part 2: Malware connects to it again and the Helix turns red as he I guess sends himself into the planet and blows it up

I still remember every word of Malware’s speech (off the top of my head: “Evil? No… VISIONARY! I feel power building inside me. I see a world that only I can create! It was Azmuth who thought me flawed. He gave me the name Malware. But I am not the flawed one. It is all the rest that are inferior! They bend and stretch, mimic and manipulate only what others have created. I do not upgrade others’ creations, they upgrade me! And I will upgrade myself with Azmuth’s greatest creation.”)

still wish Malware being “visionary” had been elaborated on, although that may be related to the “him wanting to become a living planet/wipe out all life on Galvan Prime and Galvan B and start over” thing

like did he want to create Galvanic Mechamorphs from himself, absorbing the power of the Helix? Would that be the only way he could create Mechamorphs?

Albedo: “destroy the moon with us on it”, *Malware voice* “Excellent suggestion.”

Coriolanus Labs, huh? it doesn’t go anywhere obviously but I like the name

this is def. Corey Burton as this police chief, his Seebik voice is very similar to this

I forgot Ester was only half-Kraaho

also forgot Ben mentions Computron, is that a real thing or a fictional thing in this universe

Rad Dudesman can be seen in the beginning of Have I Got a Deal for You

amazing how Hokestar’s name resembles both “huckster” and “hoax-ster”

Screegit episode is Omniverse’s Fool’s Gold but only better because there’s no alien poop involved

this music sounds like what happens when you use the weed SCP in that Containment Breach game

can’t believe there’s a sumo slammers Mario Kart equivalent

wait so is Psychobos an actual doctor. does he write actual textbooks?

okay, so the fight was staged from when they were in Max’s shop onwards, although it does feel very real

yeah you can definitely see it’s a soda can

love that transition from the nemetrix to malware’s hand

so how the hell did malware get from earth back to psychobos’s planet

Malware clearly isn’t there to make friends, also his voice does sound different

you know what, “Crude, corrupted, incomplete” does pretty much describe Malware himself exactly in addition to describing the partial Omnitrix blueprint he got.

it’s interesting that he calls Ben “Azmuth’s pet”

so Psychobos was waiting for 5 years for Khyber to take Ben down?

also why did there just happen to be an error in the omnitrix in this episode

and you’re not gonna mention where you got the sword, Khyber?

interesting that it’s “Revonnan” here, and not “Revonnahgander”

weird that we see Malware in his third form there, unless that’s supposed to be while Khyber is collecting that DNA and thus after Malefactor

so is Phil running from the Rooters there, or about to join them?

what does Khyber mean, “bargaining power with my associates”?

also interesting that Khyber calls them his partners

I think the real problem is that Ben just never looks at the omnitrix dial anymore to see what he’s actually transforming into

so it implies that Khyber wanted to turn Zed into Gray Matter’s natural predator? except he didn’t have it yet? although I guess really any predator could take him down

Khyber has a halberd, I love it

Also in general, I love that Gwen and/or Kevin appear at least once a season (whether it’s in a season premiere, like in Arcs 1 and 2, a season finale, like also 2, 3, 4, AU Gwens in both halves of 5, 6 obviously, and I think the first half of 8, or some other episode in between, like every arc after 2)

Also I still kind of wish we would’ve gotten like, how Psychobos and Malware met, or how Psychobos knew Khyber well enough to hire him to get the DNA samples for the Nemetrix, especially the former because we know that Psychobos has something against Azmuth, and Malware is a creation of Azmuth, and how would that have affected their teaming up for the first time? Although it was probably an ego-booster for Psychobos, to have someone who was made by someone you perceive as your nemesis agree with you on how much said nemesis sucks. And it must have been validating for Malware too, to see someone agree with him.

Basic thoughts: I think this season is pretty good! I was surprised by how much I liked So Long and Thanks for All the Smoothies and It Was Them, I thought both of those episodes were very good and featured Ben being smart, and in the latter episode he’s proactive about searching for Khyber and figuring out that mystery. The former is just a really fun episode, a lot of recurring villains show up for the first time in Omniverse, and of course you get that ending, which sets up several episodes to come. I was also surprised by my ultimately ranking the series premiere’s part 2 above part 1, I think that was because it did feature more of a plot than part 1 and lacked the first episode’s kind of “beginning-of-a-series awkwardness”. Also Psyphon was actually a good villain here. The main plot is still my favorite, even if I chose part 1 of the season finale over Trouble Helix because I didn’t particularly care for the Ben and Gwen bickering in Trouble Helix and the season finale works really well when you watch it for the first time and rewatch to pick up what you may have missed in hindsight after seeing part 2. Bottom 3 are still the same as the original time I did this, I just didn’t vibe with them.

Tumblr has become unreadable with Ublock origin on. Unless someone give me a solution to this that doesn't involve turning off my adblocker my response is not going to be to turn off my adblocker to give Tumblr more ad dollars or to pay them for "ad free" which still has certain ads it's going to be my response to every site that wants me to open up my computer to viruses by loading their ads and to finally stop using Tumblr for good in favor of one of their competitors. If this isn't solved in three days I'll be posting my Pillowfort and Cohost addressees for my mutual.

If anyone can recommend me bloggers in the vein of @loreweaver-universe, @mindareadsoots, @missfinefeather, @amateur-ornithologyure, @cheesy-kitten-liveblogs, @lampmanliveblogs, @bliveblogs, @what-the-heck-is-rwby, @researchhpurposes, @thewertsearch, etc. on those platforms it would be highly appreciated. The liveblogs were all that was keeping me here in the first place and even here it's hard to find new ones.

Recommendations of blogs on those platforms about autism, adhd, anarchism, general leftism, and social justice matters would also be helpful.

elon musk saying he wants to start charging people money to use twitter is exactly the kind of thing these billionaire/trillionaire business owners would do if they owned social media, now imagine if jeff bezos owned youtube and started charging people 15$ a month to use it, hands down we’d fucking riot if that happened.

side observation: also charging people 15 to 20 a month to use a social media; 15 or 20 dollars!? you kidding me! thats the kind of thing people pay/get charged for, if their playing an MMO like world of warcraft or something, with the difference being that an MMO is game that is trying to make money while a lot of these social media platforms are freely accessible with no charge! fuck outta here with that shit

Ok, so goblins are always described as short, with greenish or greyish skin, wide mouths, ugly at least by human standards, oversized hands and feet, and long nose and ears. Sometimes it’s also added that they eat insects, snails, and other things humans usually wouldn’t.

Now the nose is generally accepted nowadays to be a racist tack-on, poking reference to Jewish people and associating the Jewish population with the conniving greed of goblins, so let’s take that away.

The ears are basically fantasy anatomical shorthand for “this human-shaped thing is not human,” so let’s nix that too.

We are left with something small, grey or green, wide-mouthed, ugly (to most people), with very large hands and feet, and a penchant for chomping on invertebrates.

Pearlescence: I know, but she’s not, and the cannon is missing. We’ll have to find another solution.

ShieldsNRoses: If it belonged to my mom, I bet my dad knows where it is. He can help us save the day!

MotelCalifornia: Shields we hhavent decided your dads charatcer yet. I was hoping to bring him in later…

ShieldsNRoses: But they need Mom’s cannon. You've gotta know where it is, like a cave dungeon or a cloud fortress, or in a clam at the bottom of the ocean!

MotelCalifornia: ok Greg ties the other end of the cord rope to the van, then drives it forward until the cannon is out.

Pearlescence: Wouldn’t that cause everything else to come out with it?

MotelCalifornia: …yes.

ShieldsNRoses: This thing could save the city, we've gotta get it to the beach!

MotelCalifornia: *Greg* How? It’s too big for the van. rolls 3 …um. a wagon rolls by?

ShieldsNRoses: That’s perfect! We can just put the cannon into the wagon!

Pearlescence: Steven… I don’t think that any wagon that Greg is going to own will be strong enough to hold the cannon.

ShieldsNRoses: well its what we got…. it has to work

MotelCalifornia: alright Steven we’ll roll for it Easy does it. Greg puts the cannon on the wagon. Steven, roll?

ShieldsNRoses: *rolls 8* Is it gonna be okay?

MotelCalifornia: The bottom falls out and the cannon hits the ground. the rest of the wagon is in good shape though. *Greg* shrugs If every pork chop were perfect...

MotelCalifornia: That should work. We get in the van and drive to the beach, the cannon dragging sparks behind us.

MotelCalifornia: Greg is really disturbed by the enlarged Red Eye. That thing’s getting huge, it's freaking me out.

MotelCalifornia: Red Eye’s gravity begins to pull everything towards it, causing rumbling and destruction. The fryshop sign falls over.

AwesomeSaucem: no not the fry shop!

MotelCalifornia: shingles are coming off the roofs, telephone poles are being pulled towards the eye, the wind is crazy

STELLA: WE HAVE TO USE IT NOW

Pearlescence: I don’t remember how she activated it. I think it was a password. I don’t know how it works, it was Rose’s!

ShieldsNRoses: Dad, how do we use it?

MotelCalifornia: I can’t just tell you that. I don’t think greg would know anywho

Pearlescence: Steven, this is serious. The gem. You have Rose’s gem.

Pearlescence: Can we get a hint? Your puzzles aren’t usually this difficult.

MotelCalifornia: I figured you guys wouldn’t remember so I’ve already given you hints.

MotelCalifornia: The gravitational pull intensifies and pulls the van and cannon.

MotelCalifornia: Greg unhooks cord from cannon *Greg:* I got this. *rolls 2* *Greg:* Ugh, wait, nope, maybe I don’t!

ShieldsNRoses: I start talkin to the canon Please work, unlock, activate, go, please! Everyone’s counting on you, you can’t just be useless! I know you can help. i gotta be able to find the password if i just keep talkin rite?

MotelCalifornia: That’s actaully pretty good. I’ll give you another hint. *Greg:* It’s okay, Steven. We’ll figure out something else, something even better.

ShieldsNRoses: right… if every pork chop were perfect, we wouldn’t have hot dogs.

MotelCalifornia: that’s right! you activate the cannon.

Pearlescence: It’s working!

MotelCalifornia: The cannon starts folding out like rose petals it shines bright pink, then it falls forward and is now aimed at the horizon

ShieldsNRoses: the horizon?! where is the red eye?

MotelCalifornia: almost diagonal up in the sky

ShieldsNRoses: I try to lift the cannon

MotelCalifornia: roll for strength

ShieldsNRoses: *rolls 19*

MotelCalifornia: hold on let me look at your character sheet

MotelCalifornia: ok you do a good job lifting it. But its still too heavy for you to get it all the way.

MotelCalifornia: I’m glad I get to use this again. It explodes and *rolls* falls destroying parts of the city boardwalk. a giant crack in the ground. Mr Frymans car falls into the crack
