How do u make your yearly budget ? I remember you posting about your budget spreadsheet once. Pls I am v interested on how you set it up

I simply must ask if you're the FBI agent in my phone, because I genuinely just sent a message to a friend saying how excited I was it's the end of the month, meaning tomorrow I get to start with a fresh new slate in my budget hahaha

alright let's talk:

I don't do a yearly budget, technically! I budget month-per-month. There are lots of styles of budgets—some allowing for a yearly/more Long Term view—but what worked for my income level was a month-based system.

I lurked on r/personalfinance on reddit for a long while and actually pilfered my budget template from there!

I use this one, which I like both because I've used it for five years and because it's just plain ol' simple. I don't need charts to automatically populate and I don't want to categorize every purchase I make. I just want to see how much money I have per month and how much I'm spending.

That's also crucial to how I personally do budgeting. I don't set aside $X for food and $X for activities and $X for going out or whatever every month. That isn't productive to me; my life looks different every month depending on what's going on. I don't use my budget to be prescriptive; outside of my fixed expenses (rent, utilities, etc.) I just use my budget to track 1. where my money is going and 2. how much of it I have left.

If you want something with a bit more frills, there are lots of other options (one, two, three) on reddit, but I've [personally] found all their bells and whistles overwhelming. If they have useful features you want to use (like, some will have tabs for you to track debt and payments toward it), you can experiment with them, but I don't recommend them for someone new to budgeting.

...I also don't inherently recommend my preferred spreadsheet, either. It doesn't work for everyone. I've shown it to some friends and they almost immediately knew it wouldn't work for them. The reason it works for me is because I am kind of neurotic about budgeting.

To me, "peace of mind" is maintained by having a really close eye on my finances. That means that I track what I spend daily. I manually input every purchase into the spreadsheet. I manually put every paycheck into the spreadsheet. I keep the Google Sheets app on my phone for this very purpose.

That isn't something everyone's willing to do, and there's no shame in that—we all find the different tools that work best for us! But if you don't think you're able to keep up with manually tracking every cent you make and spend, I don't think that this method will be good for you.

If you need more automation in your budgeting, where you can get things autofilled and so on and so forth, I would have pointed you towards Mint, which I've heard good things about, but it's sadly shutting down this March. The article I linked provided an alternate recommendation, but I can't personally vouch for any of those services.

I've been tempted by YNAB a time or two — I like the idea that they intentionally work you towards living off of old paychecks instead of the money you earn month-of [which is a financial goal we should ALL strive for, even though it can be very hard], and I like that they encourage giving every dollar a "job", but you don't NEED their service to do either of those things. I don't like paying money to save money, you know? lol

I keep a secondary, simple spreadsheet with my "rolling funds" in it — money I set aside every month (which I input as a monthly "expense" in my normal spreadsheet) which I allocate to specific funds, like car funds, travel funds... I even had a "hockey game fund" for a few years, haha.

I prefer that method to paying for a service to do it for me. I'm sure YNAB has some nice bells and whistles, and it's clear MANY people love being integrated into their system, which has some automated bits that definitely make budgeting "easier," but I like Ye Olde Spreadsheet. Having to input every purchase keeps me accountable, I feel. Also it sometimes discourages me from spending money, haha, which is probably a good thing in the long run.

idk. I'm a huge advocate for budgeting. I know it can be really hard for some people, but I sincerely think there's some budgeting method out there that will work for you, you know? I credit my budget spreadsheets for keeping my head above water during the many times where money was/is tight. Knowledge is power and all that.

Not to sound like a #girlboss shilling my financial advice on tiktok (of which there are too many), but being aware of where your money is going is sincerely the biggest, most important step you can take towards building financial safety for yourself. My budget saved my ass this last year.

It's fascinating sometimes how wildly different Bionicle fans see the characters in their minds' eyes. Because while we know that the set forms are just an abstraction of their appearance based on how they move and act in the story, there's a wide spectrum of just how abstracted fans imagine them to be.

The movies were many fans' first introduction to this concept, that there's more to their physical form than we see in the toys, there's flesh and sinew around it all, and on top of all of that, mouths for every character. But given how the movies deviated from and abridged the greater story, and also redesigned the appearance of many characters for more homogeneous designs (for better or worse, they stole Pohatu's hips and gave him and Onua long arms, among other changes), the movie depictions never settled as the "definitive" look in the community.

Designs I've seen among other fans since I started interacting with the community have varied greatly. There are those I'm not too fond of, like designs that take the abstraction to an extreme and make the Toa and Matoran basically humans with cybernetic patterns on their very fleshy bodies, and designs that basically make them into armored soldiers like something out of Halo or Destiny, for instance. I just don't like how very "human in a costume" these feel. And there are designs I can appreciate, such as some hybrid movie/set designs I've seen in the canon contests, and various comics I've seen scattered on here and Discord.

Personally, I like the skeletal/alien look of the toys, and like to factor that into my mental picture of how the characters look. In my mind, Toa and Matoran have three layers: mechanical skeleton, synthetic biological tissue, and armor. A Toa without any tissue or armor would be like if you took the Toa Inika, gave them metru heads, and took away all armor pieces on the limbs, their masks, their chestplates, etc. Skeletal and unseemly, with equally long arms and legs. In my mind, the tissue would then fill the chest cavity with lungs and wrap sinewy muscles around the joints in place of servos like a robot would have. And then armor would be placed around the body to protect these organic and skeletal components in key places. The mask would be static over the head; I greatly dislike Toa with mouths and expressive faces outside of Toa Inika with their organic Kanohi. To ingest herbs for antidotes, they would lift up their mask and place it in the circular opening on their head, where it would be molecularized and ingested; this would be the closest they have to a "mouth" like an organic being. Its placement there would simply be due to their creation by organics, the Great Beings.

The difference between a Toa and a Glatorian then, despite following similar body plans, would be obvious in the design of their heads and in the amount of biological tissue. Glatorian and Agori, being cyborgs, would have fully organic limbs with armor and cybernetic attachments. But otherwise, from a distance, one could easily mistake a Toa for a very emaciated Glatorian with a large, static mask, as one was created in the image of the other.

Anyway, this was just a stream-of-consciousness reflection on the appearance of Bionicle's primary cast of characters, with a heavy detour into my own headcanon and interpretation, as I don't think I've ever fully put this out there before. You're welcome to disagree, and if one if the things I listed unfavorably is reflected in art you like or make yourself, know I'm not singling you out and value the bredth of interpretation in fandom. To each their own, and these are just my personal tastes on my personal blog.

Like he generally remained himself, but he also became that pathetic hetero bro friend Atlus is so fond of, sexually harassing girls (aka his alleged friends) and the like. God fucking damn, it would’ve been SO much better if they had just KEPT HIM BEING GAY FOR THE LOVE OF-

Kinda unrelated, but they also really really really could’ve made Naoto a trans boy. I’m not saying I didn’t like her storyline because I loved it. But for the life of me, I cannot get that line out of my head when her Shadow says she’s going to undergo a body alteration process or something like that (I can’t remember the exact line but it was SO trans-coded, I swear).

Before any of y’all go “Naoto isn’t trans, you idiot”, I FUCKING KNOW THAT. And maybe some shit was lost in translation in the English version that would’ve subverted any confusion. But I really don’t care. Trans ppl deserve to have their stories told—and frankly, even if trans hate wasn’t a thing, they still would. Cis folk are boring. We’re everywhere and it’s overplayed. Let’s move on.

anyone else notice the… stuff with Maggie in the show? Her first introduction is her misspelling a word (writing “urgrency” instead of “urgency”), and we later learn (episode 5?) that demons are notoriously bad spellers (“give us the angle” “T-O-S-T… E.”), she invites the demons in when they’re antagonizing her, even though it doesn’t make any sense for her to have told them to “come in and say it to [her] face!”. And on that scene, it seems odd to me that Shax was targeting her specifically, and seemed to know a great deal about her life (mentioning the record shop nobody goes to, being in love with Nina, says she’ll live and die a nobody), we haven’t seen demons do this specific thing previously, and as far as the audience knows, Shax didn’t do any research on who would be there beforehand (how would she know, anyways?). Also, if nobody ever bought any records other than Aziraphale (and maybe The Ressurectionist? unclear on if they’re buying records or if she just sends them over free of charge), how is she *only* 8 months behind on rent? Or does she, like Aziraphale and Crowley, have alternate ways of acquiring money? Not to mention the only named place she sends the records to just so happens to be the pub Gabriel and Beelzebub have been meeting at. She also doesn’t notice the 70 ish demons following her out of the record shop, doesn’t notice the sudden fog and green lighting that appear out of nowhere, she doesn’t seem to notice a lot of odd things (doesn’t need explanations like how Nina does when Aziraphale is trying to explain what’s happening). I’m also sure that the theme of demons and angels not remembering each other (Crowley not remembering Furfur or Saraqael, Gabriel potentially not remembering Saraqael) is related as well, somehow. I know I’m going to have to, but I can’t wait to see if any of this means anything in season 3 (if we get a season 3, looking at you, Amazon).

my cute blob, pancake 🧡 it’s been two weeks since i’ve seen her. i assume she was buried for so long because she had a big meal and just wasn’t hungry, but two weeks is the longest she’s stayed buried so i started to worry.. i gently brushed the dirt away and scooped her up to check on her, and she seems fine! gave her a weigh too, she’s 180 grams now!

Nobody asked but here's my very complex headcanons & theories about how the cube species works within The Last Reality. Essentially, it's based on the idea all the members you see during the Cube invasion are part of one species at different evolution stages. (Think Pokemon evolution.)

So the literal cubes, like Kevin, are functionally the babies. They have very basic needs - energy consumption. They prepare for mass consumption by placing their runes, and more minor consumption by killing life forms. They can create corrupted versions of said lifeforms as a result of this, who work similarly to the next of two phases;

The Husks are sort of battle troops, and that's it. They're primarily for stifling all forces of resistance from the reality that's about to be dominated, and they're easily discardable due to a lower level of consciousness, primarily operating on the instinct to kill and harvest. They can also harvest energy, but it's less effective, and they cannot create Corruptions.

The Anthropormorphics, such as Cube Assassin and Geometrick, are what bring in the societal aspect of the species, having their own language and societal norms. Most will wear a little bit of clothing, or none at all. Most clothing is reserved for those of higher status, like Royalty, since they don't really need clothing, it's just there for aesthetics. They may ascend to royalty if chosen by a lone Royalty if their partner is no longer in the picture, either through abandonment or death.

Corruptions, aka the mirrored lifeforms, are similar to the Anthropromorphics except they do not have a cube-esque thing for a head, making them resemble Royalty. For this reason, they're often deployed to watch realities that have already been conquered instead of a part of the general society on the Mainland.

Royalty are ascended Anthropormorphics and are capable of creating more of the baby Cubes. They can also be created from Corruptions, but it's rare. There's normally two at a time, but there can be more if they so choose. They are the head of the hivemind created within Husks.

The reason that they collect energy is because that is what the species need to live instead of things like food, water, and shelter. There are defective Cubes, such as the Origin, that cannot hold onto their energy properly and release it in forms such as fire or electricity. They need to have a more stable flow of energy fed to them quite frequently, which is what the prison suit inside of his Seven suit is most likely for according to this little headcanon-theory, which is why he decided to keep it on instead of like... Not dressing like a prisoner everyday

Leafpool is the next parts, All i can taste is this moment, all I can breathe is your life. Her missing Mothwing and then as the lyrics fade to the between lyrics she’s with Crowfeather, even tho she’s with him she feels broken and hidden. The next part is them both.

With them both it’s their reunion, Leafpool is hurting and knows she’s done something she can’t just push away, and Mothwing just lost her brother.

The repeating lyrics are their fates after. Leaf giving up the three in secret, her hurt and pain as she watches them grow up without her, having to keep up the lies she’s woven but being able to let it all go when she’s with Mothwing. Mothwing learning to accept the pain Hawkfrost caused her but also grief the brother she lost, pushing past the expectations she gets placed on her for being atheist, and having someone to talk to where she can show her struggle and feel better (Leafpool).

And I don't want the world to see me 'Cause I don't think that they'd understand When everything's made to be broken I just want you to know who I am x3

The very last bit is when everything revealed, the first line is the fire scene, the next the gathering when Mothwing would jump up to protect Leafpool, and the last them being openly together after everything’s happened at the great battle.

Got a bit out of hand with the prompt XD I ended up doing a scene inspired by this fic! Based on that time Marcille Izutsumi and Chilchuck were sharing a bed in chapter 47. It felt very memorable so I tried to recreate it but I kind of went offscript because I was basing it on my recollection of the fic lmao

^Obsessed with this guy and how he lets Izutsumi use him like a hot water bottle bc it's comfier.

I think he'd hardly ever act this soft + tolerant of physical affection unless it's situations like this: When the others are too sleepy to remember it LOL

only like 2 have a real purpose anymore cos theyre on servers tht other ppl i played with are on but ive done so much on some of them waa….. i dont wanna delete them even if i just keep them for like oc purposes…… also i have invested at least some time in all of them lol

from top > bottom, left > right:

schrodingers catgirl (euro, catgirl, flex but "canonically" does guns), grim eve (jpn, girl, "canonically" black/white mage), xinriel khar (jpn, boy, magic but "canonically" heals)

reede and vrin are half siblings, the rest dont have familial ties between each other

as a general rule the ones on jpn servers** were made originally to help me learn tank/heals etc when i was still new and was anxious abt starting on my main character (and also to make characters as diff races/genders cos the emote/animation differences and outfit differences are cool) but i developed them too much as characters and now im love them all. help

** note that i started on jpn servers cos aus players either went onto na servers or specifically one of the jpn worlds, and my friend was already set up on the jpn server so the jpn alts are on the same world
