honestly i’m fascinated by loki and mobius’ relationship platonic or romantic. i really hope they address it more in this season (although fat chance because haha disney) because it’s honestly incredible to see how different this loki is from our mcu!timeline loki and it’s the tva and mobius who has helped him change so much
i think the pie scene (OH MY GOD THE PIE SCENE) was a step in the right direction BUT WHY WASNT MOBIUS THERE

ok so here's my theory...
that episode wasn't actually real. It was some of the scariest shit i've ever seen. Compression cube torcher. The dying screams of dozens. B-15 walking in the room and seeing the remaining cube of flesh. Victor Timely just instantly being exploded into strings of flesh. A nuclear explosion of light that just expands until it gets to you, and then its all just black, the instant you die.
This is the stuff of nightmares.
What's something that exists at the TVA? The Department of Nightmares. So this is all happening in someone/s head, maybe their hallucinating it, something like that. I don't know how it's interfering specifically, but it could be any of these
the time door Victor went through actually went to the department of nightmares/he got lost entering the tva and went there
the failing of the time loom and tva technical issues means that some of the stuff in the department is seeping through
the flesh cube stuff did happen, but when they rebooted the tva, something in the department of nightmares lost containment
and here are some worse theories just for funsies
they introduce the Watcher and he says "damn, that sucks... back to the other tva" and we go back to ep 3
we're back in the castle at the end of time during s1, and kang says "and that's what happens if you kill me"... and sylvie doesn't kill him
the white explosions didn't actually kill anyone but instead removed a secret force field that was hiding the tva from the rest of the multiverse and now outside the window is the council of kangs
the white explosion beam didn't actually kill anyone, everyone just stands around blinking profusely from the light, and mobius says "so that just happened."
episode 5 takes place in Valhalla

I am sad about Loki leaving Mobius to deal with the aftermath of Sylvie's tirade by himself but I think there's something worth pointing out about him following Sylvie.
Someone had to tell her that enough was enough. She had consistently been shitting on everyone, not just Mobius, and taking everything out on everyone but herself. If Loki hadn't followed her, defended Mobius and told her to stop, she would have continued speaking to everyone that way with no remorse. Someone needed to tell her to stop, and Loki is more likely to defend Mobius than himself after last season. He does feel guilty for betraying her and he will let her talk to him in a way he won't let her talk to Mobius.
He left to make sure she doesn't hurt anyone, especially not Mobius, again.

Loki s2e4
WHY does Sylvie come back to the TVA after they take Timely? Like, I know thematically why she's there, but realistically, why is she there?! She claims all she wants to do is fuck back off to McDonald's 😭 I guess she just didn't trust Loki/Mobius to actually save the timelines.

How they messed up
They've been in a hurry the whole episode but situations after situations keep stalling them... Victor Timely getting distracted by seeing the TVA for the first time, him and OB meeting and both being starstruck for a moment, all of the exposition and explanation required to get everyone up to speed, OB not being able to complete the machine to fix the loom until Victor came with the tool to fix it, Victor getting hot chocolate and getting whisked away by Ravonna and Miss Minutes, Loki and Sylvie taking ages to pick up the telephone in that scene by the elevator, the list goes on. At first I thought it might just be a problem with the pacing but, esp knowing that the Spaghettification Forces increase with time, the stalling feels deliberate. I think that's where they messed up — they literally just ran out of time. What is that symbolic for?

Oh! Yeah, my gosh, I love love loved that Loki finally confronted Sylvie!!
She’s been doing more character development this season and I think (hope) that conversation really cemented it
No, you can’t just give everyone free will and walk away Sylvie.
I love that he brought up Thor’s affection for Earth as a parallel for his affection for the people at the TVA (yes, Loki, allow yourself to be attached!)
I love that he explained that walking away and burning things to the ground is easier (the choice he’s made his entire life) but the right thing is hardly ever the easy one (yes, Loki growth!)
I love that she wondered if they were playing god.
But I especially love that he said, “We are gods.”
!!!!!!! Yesssss!!! An MCU Thor property not shying away from them being gods!!! Wow!!! (We only got a sliver of that in Love and Thunder, amongst some very bad jokes…)
And gosh, yes, he handled that whole conversation sO WELL!! Like, shockingly well. He was calm and composed. He acknowledged her struggles, but he firmly established his reasoning against that. He didn’t push or demand (or cave! Or beg! Or desperately flop around in hopes that Sylvie wouldn’t leave him!). He simply said his piece and left. He knew he couldn’t change her mind if she didn’t want to change, he just hoped she would, but it wasn’t his responsibility. It was honestly some amazingly emotionally intelligent behavior from Loki. I loved that scene. So much. It felt like Loki. It was perfect.
