Most of these are player characters from Weight of the World, the LARP I helped to run that finished earlier this year. This group ended up as an extended family group, centred roughly on Gulliver Darkwood (in the centre there). The family dynamic here led to a lot of interesting gameplay, and it was really neat to watch all these characters grow and change over the course of the game.

...and we got people who'll protect you and patch you up afterwards.

meeting wyll at the grove, as someone who the tieflings trust enough to train their children, says so much about him. it's so sad that he doesn't get explored in acts 2-3 as deeply as the other companions, when his problems are equally intense. the average player probably long rests once before coming across the grove, but even if not, in that time wyll has already proven to the tieflings that they can rely on the Blade of Frontiers.

this is the immediate first thing he chooses to do after being condemned to slow death via ceremorphosis. his priority list in the first conversations with tav is: 1) hunt down a dangerous devil, 2) help zevlor with the goblins, 3) once nothing threatens the tieflings he will gladly search for a tadpole cure. wyll is perpetually his own last priority, and i wonder if it has to do with the lore about souls.

if he believes mind flayers' souls have been destroyed, and fiend warlocks will all have their souls sent to the hells after death, then becoming a mind flayer isn't the worst possible way for him to die. he would never become a mindless monster to save his own soul, but he's not gripped by horror the way that some of the other origin characters are. lae'zel has been made revoltingly impure to her people, astarion is terrified of losing the scrap of bodily autonomy he just regained, gale is guilt-ridden over the orb detonation if he dies, shadowheart has to survive to prove herself to her cult leader, and karlach has also just regained bodily autonomy and is desparate to live.

this is just another quest for the Blade, whose persona guards wyll ravengard against the vice of self-concern when he ought to be concerned for those in need.

My favourite thing about hermitcraft boat boys is Joel casually inserting the obession bit in every episode (I'd say smoothly but Joel's never done anything smoothly in his life) while Etho very awkwardly inserts trying to poorly act out his side of the same bit now and then like a D&D player who just realized they created a pc out of their comfort zone.

i love it when bad is very specifically a good roleplayer by giving other people good prompts. like casually bringing up wilbur now to tallulah. or when he put missa in the petting zoo. or all those times he Tormented the Lesbians so they could protect each other from him. its just so !!!! I love watching roleplayers be considerate of other roleplayers and gleefully hand over something they Know the other person's character can react to. i've seen cellbit do it, too (that time he handed his knife to bbh. oh my god). it's not a rare thing, and it's possible to be a good roleplayer without keeping that sort of considerate back and forth in mind, but its one of my favourite things to notice. foolish does it too, sometimes- i haven't watched him much, but i did take note of when he Made Sure to bring jaiden along with him on a cucurucho quest. and basically every interaction he had with bad when the eggs were missing. its just so so good

Confluence is a ridiculous project. This TTRPG features a fantastic system for making your characters to go experience all that Ajurea, the land of Confluence, has to offer, but it also features diegetic Atlases (yes plural) that are massive books at 9 1/2x11". Diegetic meaning in-world, as if they were written by, used by, and doodled in by people from the world.

Some mechanics will be in the mechanics books, the catalog, but some will only be findable in particular locations within the Atlases, prompting you to explore the world at the table, and take pieces of the world into your character through unique regional specialties and traits.

We have been working on this for a while, a team of 14+, and are working our way through our playtests now, and making sure the material we put forward is everything you need to really delve into the incredible world of Ajurea. Come check out our team, see more art, and more over on the website!

Darry, Thresher Majestic and Bill - Watercolour SLF Impact LARP Commission

Darry and Bill were a paired concept for Fall and Rise of Impact - the client played Darry (on the left, with the beard), and I played Bill (on the right, with the red hair). They were effectively old college pals who ended up working together after the world ended. They were both members of Ryko's Furies, one of the knightly orders of the setting, hence the red and lightning bolts.

In his downtime, Darry ran farm with his partners. Bill didn't have anyone else to bother, so he frequently ended up hanging out at the farm… not that he learned anything there.

Thresher Majestic was Best Boar at the 14AI Edson's Stand Agricultual Show, and he knows it. He's the best pig. (He's a Kepri Old Spots in character; out of character, he's based on a Gloucestershire Old Spots.) my favorite part of gba’s writing is how he continuously asserts that albus can never be and will never be in a “traditional romance”.

when he lives in his own ideal world, he lives in a world void of the woman he claims to love. the only relationship he cares to really cultivate is the one with his family, more specifically his brother.

Even in the non-canon ending of BW, the relationship between albus and faithful is very hedonistic. While he prioritizes the safety of faith and the kids, he stays distant and his non-sexual affection/intimacy is small.

its almost like he cant express himself without the sacrifice of his body and skill.

almost like no one ever taught him.

like he never had the chance.

like no one ever did that to him.
