And here's the actual sketch, for those who prefer not to watch videos! [Image description: Three cartoon animals on a white background. They're all drawn in a fairly loose way, and the colours are often overlapping the lines. All three animals are facing the left hand side of the image, and are stood up on their back legs, in a vaguely anthropomorphic way. On the left is a short claw otter, holding its hands in front of its torso politely. In the middle is a hippopotamus who is clearly smiling, with their hands on their hips. On the right is a pigeon, with its wings outstretched kind of like arms reaching forward.]

I've spent the last week or two slowly re-updating the etsy shop. I took it on holdiay during Covid, and just never quite managed to get it going again... until now!
Sloth Wedding Cards are up there, as is the remaining stock of the Pride Party (Discounted, in an attempt to clear the stock so I can start working on redoing them!). And, as a special treat, I've put up the last of my watercolour postcards from when I was last doing the con circuit - again, I want to get a fresh start on those before I start doing cons again!

Spent a chunk of today practicing drawing different animals than my sloths - gotta stretch those art muscles, you know! So here, have a badger, an armadillo, an axolotl, a hedgehog and an elephant shrew.
Expect more of these in the future - I've got a whole list of little guys to work through, and feel free to suggest more critters! [Image description: A white background with five animals drawn on it digitally. All five animals are drawn in a cartoony way, standing on their back legs (or sitting down in the case of the hedgehog). They're all facing the left hand side of the image. They're coloured very roughly, with blobs of colour outside the lines. in a lot of places, faint sketching lines are visible behind the finished pictures. On the top left is a european badger; the bottom left is an armadillo. In the middle of the page is an axolotl. On the top right is a hedgehog, and on the bottom right is a black and rufous elephant shrew.]

Darry, Thresher Majestic and Bill - Watercolour SLF Impact LARP Commission
Darry and Bill were a paired concept for Fall and Rise of Impact - the client played Darry (on the left, with the beard), and I played Bill (on the right, with the red hair). They were effectively old college pals who ended up working together after the world ended. They were both members of Ryko's Furies, one of the knightly orders of the setting, hence the red and lightning bolts.
In his downtime, Darry ran farm with his partners. Bill didn't have anyone else to bother, so he frequently ended up hanging out at the farm… not that he learned anything there.
Thresher Majestic was Best Boar at the 14AI Edson's Stand Agricultual Show, and he knows it. He's the best pig. (He's a Kepri Old Spots in character; out of character, he's based on a Gloucestershire Old Spots.) [Image description: A watercolour painting of three cartoonish characters: (L-R) Darry (a light skinned man), Thresher Majestic (a very rotund pig), and Bill (a light skinned man). The three are stood in a muddy field, with mud all over their boots or feet. Darry and Bill are both dressed largely in red with a graphic white lightning bolt on their chests. Darry is wearing a comfortable looking sweater, light grey trousers, and dark boots. Bill is wearing a red tunic under a tabard with the lightning bolt, tan trousers and dark boots. Darry looks very proud, smiling widely with his hands on his hips. Bill is squating down slightly and looking closely at Thresher Majestic with a slightly confused or intrigued look on his face. Thresher Majestic is a light pinkish colour with dark grey/black splotches. His ears are flopped over his eyes. He's lying down in the mud and looks as smug as a pig possibly can.]

Water Genasi Rogue - D&D Character Commission
This one took a while to finish - I got the majority of the work done before the holidays, but then I had some medical stuff come up and I wasn't able to finish it until the last few weeks - but I'm super happy with how it came out!
The character is a Water Genasi Rogue who's super bubbly and cheerful. The client included the lobster crossbow and boots as specific items she carries - I was a little scared of the Lobster Crossbow at first, but I think it turned out really well!
I always love getting to draw D&D or other Tabletop characters - there's something about bringing a character to life who's never been seen before that's a special little treat.
[Image description: An illustration of a young looking woman, standing mostly front-on to the camera, smiling broadly and waving with her left hand. Her skin is light blue, and she has long dark blue hair with bright pink tips tied up in a high ponytail. Her hair is floating as though it's under water. Her ears are slightly pointed. She's wearing clothes in varying shades of teal, turquoise, blue and green: a short feathered cowl, which hangs to about her elbows, over a studded leather jerkin. Her shirt and trousers are in darker shades of blue, and she's wearing boots that look like they might be made of leaves. There are daggers strapped to her thighs. She has several pouches hanging off her belt. In her right hand, she's holding a crossbow that looks like it's made out of a lobster, pointed at the ground.]

Salutations from Stormwatch Station - WotW Commission
This one was actually finished before the big Darkwood Family one from yesterday, but the same client commissioned both of them and wanted them posted closer together, so I held onto it until now!
(For those who didn't play the LARP, the creature is a Penguin Dragon. Most of the player characters hated them, and rightfully so. But there's always one person who just can't help but love a horrible critter…) [Image description: A portrait oriented cartoon drawing. There are two figures in the foreground, standing on a rocky outcropping. Behind them is a lot of ice and a roughly blocked in set of buildings that gives the impression of a research station of some kind. In the top right hand corner of the image is the text "Salutations from Stormwatch Station" in a typewriter-esque font. The figure on the right in the foreground is recognisably a person, but they have a big round head, which is out of proportion with a slightly squishy looking body. This figure has long brown hair, and has coppery skin and little horns. They're wearing a blue robe over a black shirt, grey skirt and black leggings. On one shoulder they're wearing a scaled pauldron, and they have various pouches and such hanging from their belt. They're in a sort of "penguin-pose" with their arms at their sides and their hands pointed outwards, standing on one leg, as they swing the other one around. It's clear they're immitating the other figure: a large round creature vague reminiscent of a penguin in shape, except that it has four flippers/wings (two on each side, stacked on top of each other), four feet (two pointed forward, and two pointed backwards), and very sharp teeth in its open beak. It's coloured in mottled greys and blues with a white belly.]

SLF Darkwood Family Portrait - WotW Commission
L-R Back row: Valdo Middle row: Bruno, Thea (holding Socks the Dragon), Hal, Kai, Gulliver, Mimi, Aurie, Veremund, Spectral Winter Front row: Philomena, Adria (holding Nero the Dragon), Lucrezia, Rosa, Elsie (and the Rock Dragons)
Most of these are player characters from Weight of the World, the LARP I helped to run that finished earlier this year. This group ended up as an extended family group, centred roughly on Gulliver Darkwood (in the centre there). The family dynamic here led to a lot of interesting gameplay, and it was really neat to watch all these characters grow and change over the course of the game.
Unfortunately the original files are TOO BIG for tumblr, so these are smaller versions I saved from deviantart, so you should go there to see the full resolution versions. (full colour, sepia) [Image description: Two nearly identical images; the top one is in full colour and the bottom one is in sepia, like an old photograph. They are both cartoon illustrations of a group of people wearing fantasy and steampunk looking clothing. The dragons in the pictures are all about the size of large cats. The people have squishy looking bodies and large, round heads out of proportion with their bodies. Some of the people have extreme scars on their faces; some of them are metallic colours and have horns; one of them looks a bit like a ball bearing; one of them looks like she's made of stone and has gems in her face; and two of them have cat ears and are patterend after snow leopards. They're grouped up in four groups all clustered around one figure in the centre, seated on a chair. There's a group of five on the top left; below them is a group of three on the bottom left; on the top right are two pairs standing close to each other, and then on the bottom right one more pair of people.]

Happy Holidays (2023) - Personal Work
I usually try to sneak the phrase into the actual image, but I didn't quite manage it this year.
It's silly how pleased I am with the giant-snowball-Jai.
The last of my holiday cards are in the post now, so for everyone who didn't get one - and for all those who'll be getting theirs after the holidays have already passed! - here's this year's Happy Holidays from the Polyarmoury.
May the winter be filled with warmth and cheer and may 2024 treat you all well! [Image description: A portrait-oriented image showing a snowy hillside with the faint image of other trees and mountains in the background. On the hillside are three cartoon figures, with oversized round heads on small chubby bodies: the first figure is wearing blue snow gear, a brown toque and is skiing. The second figure is wearing red and black snow gear, a grey toque and colourful scarf, and is snowboarding. The third figure is a large ball of snow, with a little puff of blue hair sticking out one end, a glove sticking out from the middle, and a pair of boots sticking out from the other end. The first two figures are in front of the snowball, as though it's chasing them down the hill.]

Cardboard Robot Sloth - All Hallow's Sloths
Happy Hallowe'en at last! Here's the final sloth in the series - there's always that one kid who goes whole hog on their costume, and the sloths are no different. If you watched the timelapse I posted yesterday, you might have noticed that I coloured everything on the cardboard body in its orignal colour before covering it up with the silver. Can you tell from the final piece? Nope. Was it worth it for the fact that I'll always know? Oh definitely.
Have a great Hallowe'en today everyone! [Image description: A cartoon sloth standing bipedally. It is dressed in a cardboard robot costume. A large carboard box makes up the base of the torso of the costume, and there is a smaller box on the sloth's head. The boxes are coloured so that it looks inexpertly spray-painted silver, with some of the brown of the cardboard still showing through. The front of the large box has various things glued to it, including a CD, as well as painted on dials and switches and things. The smaller box has one side cut out so that you can see the sloth's face. On the sides of the box are two protrusions, about where ears would go, and there's a small antenna on the very top. The arms of the costume are made from flexible ducting tube, and the sloth is clearly having to hold its arms at odd angles in order to wear the costume properly. In one claw it holds an orage, pumpkin shaped bucket with a jack-o-lantern face drawn on it. The sloth’s eyes are closed.]

SLF Alethyniera - Keystone LARP Commission
A fun little watercolour commission - the client had a specific set of woods at a specific time of year in mind as this character's "home", and sent me some really lovely photos of the area to work from. I'm really super pleased with the trees on this one! Probably my best trees ever, honestly… [Image description: A cartoony watercolour painting of a figure in a forest. The figure has a large round head, well out of proportion with the body. The figure has feathers for hair, a brown goatee, and is wearing a green wrap-around shawl, a green floor-length skirt with an ombre effect, a brown belt with pouches, an olive green shirt, a brown headscarf and brown shoes, along with assorted jewelery. In the left hand, the figure holds a wooden staff, and in the right a small lantern. The forest is mostly rendered as a mix of oranges, reds and yellows with very few distinct leaves, and a number of spindly tree trunks.]
