Tobias Forge and the LARP Character Progression, by me, a LARPer of 10+ years
1st Character: "I have a concept but I don't know what to do after the first twenty minutes of roleplaying. I'll just chill in the inn and drink Mountain Dew."
2nd Character: "Ok now I know what I'm doing. I have a ✨Cool Prop✨ now. This is my emotional support prop."
3rd Character: "I'm so tired of being serious and everyone at game is too afraid to talk to me (I'm only level 3, costume adds 5 levels)"
4th Character: "Oh shit....what if I had a BACKSTORY???"
5th Character: "The most sustainable character is just ME but at 125%"

SLF Darkwood Family Portrait - WotW Commission
L-R
Back row: Valdo
Middle row: Bruno, Thea (holding Socks the Dragon), Hal, Kai, Gulliver, Mimi, Aurie, Veremund, Spectral Winter
Front row: Philomena, Adria (holding Nero the Dragon), Lucrezia, Rosa, Elsie (and the Rock Dragons)
Most of these are player characters from Weight of the World, the LARP I helped to run that finished earlier this year. This group ended up as an extended family group, centred roughly on Gulliver Darkwood (in the centre there). The family dynamic here led to a lot of interesting gameplay, and it was really neat to watch all these characters grow and change over the course of the game.
Unfortunately the original files are TOO BIG for tumblr, so these are smaller versions I saved from deviantart, so you should go there to see the full resolution versions. (full colour, sepia)
[Image description: Two nearly identical images; the top one is in full colour and the bottom one is in sepia, like an old photograph. They are both cartoon illustrations of a group of people wearing fantasy and steampunk looking clothing. The dragons in the pictures are all about the size of large cats. The people have squishy looking bodies and large, round heads out of proportion with their bodies. Some of the people have extreme scars on their faces; some of them are metallic colours and have horns; one of them looks a bit like a ball bearing; one of them looks like she's made of stone and has gems in her face; and two of them have cat ears and are patterend after snow leopards. They're grouped up in four groups all clustered around one figure in the centre, seated on a chair. There's a group of five on the top left; below them is a group of three on the bottom left; on the top right are two pairs standing close to each other, and then on the bottom right one more pair of people.]

Gene Lublanc
New Guild of Darkness character that will be debuting at next weeks social, or rather this is a younger version of him. Yes, he’s character design was inspired by Band of Brothers. Me and my partner watched the show late last year, Gene walked into my head and demanded I play him and here we are. I’m looking forward to playing something different

idea i’m rotating in my head: instead of the classic ‘reverse-sexist warrior woman from matriarchal society’ bit, a character who totally isn’t a reverse-sexist, not at all, sis!
Sorry, i know some fellas get all offended by that but I just use ‘sis’ in like. a gender-neutral way, you know, it’s how i was raised. But nah i’m a modern 24th century woman, I don’t buy any of that “if it don’t bleed it don’t lead” shit. I think boys - sorry, men - can be just as good at all that stuff as women.
*approaches a group of people, instinctively assumes a woman is in charge and is corrected.* “Ohhh, yeah, ok. Hey, good for you. Hashtag Yes He Can.”

"LAY-DEES, Gentlemen, and THOSE for whom TIME is a factor, I bring you the FINEST, absolutely PALACE-GRADE goods so that you, too can REACH the GREAT BEYOND with SAFETY, SECURITY, and most of all -- QUALITY.
Yes, step right up my friends to see what we have to offer. Do you need to speak to your dearly departed mother and ask where she kept the pin-money? Do you want the spirits to ask if he truly loves you? Do YOU need that HORRID little SPIRIT excised from your house?"

Oh, yeah i have some speculations about HBO adaptation of aegon's conquest. Rest assured that the plot will be surrounded by a drunken lout middle child who on a spur of the moment decides to conquer an entire continent. An alleged dark sorceress firstborn who'd probably be jealous of her younger sister. The doomed youngest child who will embrace death first. [She also loved music, dancing, and poetry, but those traits might be erased cause who cares, right??] A half-brother who will be portrayed as a backbiter and harbouring resentment towards the conqueror trio because he is a bastard. I won't be surprised at all if Harren the Black is shown as a tragic figure. And it may also feature a happy and harmonious westeros where everyone lived amiably before evil megalomaniac freaks with purple eyes, who also rides fire breathing flying lizards decided to invade them.

in vampire the masquerade the Catholic Church somehow is big enough to both be puppeted by the lasombra vampires and ALSO fund a centuries-old vampire hunting organization. some poor sucker definitely balances budgets that include both charges for mysterious vampire business and the society of leopold’s yearly supply of stakes and holy water

Darry, Thresher Majestic and Bill - Watercolour SLF Impact LARP Commission
Darry and Bill were a paired concept for Fall and Rise of Impact - the client played Darry (on the left, with the beard), and I played Bill (on the right, with the red hair). They were effectively old college pals who ended up working together after the world ended. They were both members of Ryko's Furies, one of the knightly orders of the setting, hence the red and lightning bolts.
In his downtime, Darry ran farm with his partners. Bill didn't have anyone else to bother, so he frequently ended up hanging out at the farm… not that he learned anything there.
Thresher Majestic was Best Boar at the 14AI Edson's Stand Agricultual Show, and he knows it. He's the best pig. (He's a Kepri Old Spots in character; out of character, he's based on a Gloucestershire Old Spots.)
[Image description: A watercolour painting of three cartoonish characters: (L-R) Darry (a light skinned man), Thresher Majestic (a very rotund pig), and Bill (a light skinned man). The three are stood in a muddy field, with mud all over their boots or feet. Darry and Bill are both dressed largely in red with a graphic white lightning bolt on their chests. Darry is wearing a comfortable looking sweater, light grey trousers, and dark boots. Bill is wearing a red tunic under a tabard with the lightning bolt, tan trousers and dark boots. Darry looks very proud, smiling widely with his hands on his hips. Bill is squating down slightly and looking closely at Thresher Majestic with a slightly confused or intrigued look on his face. Thresher Majestic is a light pinkish colour with dark grey/black splotches. His ears are flopped over his eyes. He's lying down in the mud and looks as smug as a pig possibly can.]

Sean Woods, an Empire Larp Character
Depression brain over the past few days had me struggling for drawing ideas, so I asked my housemate for ideas and he suggested a portrait of his Larp character. Super pleased with how this one turned out :3

technically we're ALL, always LARPing, because the Self is only a construct,
2rsquared: I want a new character
theprettyboysclub: Then make one.
mundanemerman: "Then make one" has the same energy as "then perish" but like. Opposite. Same and opposite.
