Just watched the currently still patrons only Litte Joel video and I’m glad to hear that the avatar adaptation is completely without levity, constantly serious, and overemphasizes lame action and exposition. Amazing that producers never ever learn their lessons and do the same lame shit over and over again. To everyone in my life who was excited for this show, I told you so.

Hello! Thank you :DDD You didn't specify a character so I'm going to do this for Mr. Joel Smallishbeans on the Empires SMP S1

1.how did they find out about age regression?

It started with Jimmy! He had known about age regression because Jimmy was a regressor, and had been for a long time, even when he was a kid. He didn't really consider it for himself until he was a bit older, and things just got more and more stressful until he just needed something to help, and he slipped into little space. So from a friend in a sense, but he did a lot of his own research on it because of Jimmy, and that's really what led him to regressing for himself.

3. why do they regress?

A mix of stress + simpler times. He was crowned King of Mezalea when he was young, younger (in relative terms) than the others when they were crowned. He definitely lost some of his childhood because of this, plus being a prince is stressful too. As an adult, he just likes to feel at peace, for everything to become less serious and intense, and too be able to hang out with his friends without things like allies and enemies hanging over his head. He does regress when he's particularly stressed, but also to just have fun sometimes.

4. is their regression more voluntary or involuntary?

A good mix of both, I think. Joel definitely does regress involuntarily on occasion, when he's very stressed, or super excited about something. He can force himself out of headspace, though at the cost of a good mood, but he tries not to do that, so there are occasions where he doesn't mean to slip and he does, and just decides to go with. Sometimes he does pull himself out of headspace forcefully, and then absolutely crashes into regression the moment he can. Voluntarily is more likely with Joel, he does it as stress relief and for a way to enjoy life more, so he'll make a time to regress and commit to it, or sometimes it happens spontaneously, but still voluntarily.

6. are they a stuffie or a blankie kid?

Joel definitely has a specific plushy that is his most valuable possession ever (probably named Jeremy), but he also loves blankets. His bed is more of a nest of blankets, and he loves to build blanket forts with Jimmy and Lizzie, and Scott! Scott has the best fabrics, and Little Joel has definitely made his way all the way to Rivendell just to get more blankets (much to the worry of his caregiver that day).

8. in what ways are they different when they're regressed?

Joel is more shy when he's regressed, he doesn't want to be a bother or be annoying, so it can lead to him being oddly quiet on occasion. He's still very high energy and loves to play, but he has moments of reservation, and needs lots of praise/reassurance that he's not being annoying/bother from his caregiver.

16. where do they tend to regress?

anywhere and everywhere! He's actually less likely to regress in Mezalea (past the first couple of times) just because he likes to be with other people when he's small, and the clones aren't the funnest company for a 6 year old. He loves the Swamp Kingdom, because mud and also Jimmy is there, and Rivendell for the soft fabrics. The Ocean Kingdom fascinates him, but it's a big scary because Little Joel is very bad at swimming. Sometimes he'll regress in Mezalea with other people, and they'll do painting with dyes and such.
