Guys. I have news! :D :D
I've been accepted into a university!! Wooohooo!!
I'm VERY excited. My Year 12 results aren't here yet, but this one didn't require the grades, only an entrance exam...... which I apparently did pretty well on. So..... YES. It's in the next state, though, which is sort of scaring me since I'll be living away from home for the very first time, but it seems like a great option from pretty much every angle. My course is a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature, by the way :) :)
I will be applying to other unis too, but I think it's about 75% certain that I will end up going to this one. In any case, it feels INCREDIBLY comforting and reassuring to have one acceptance in the bag, even before my final year results are out!!
So.... yes. Just thought I would share that :))

Are you named after anyone? A little girl my parents knew. I wanna say they used to babysit her, but I could be getting my stories mixed up. Dad thought she was just the cutest thing, and he loved her name. I've never met her myself, but she did wish me a happy birthday on my mom's Facebook post about me turning 20.
When was the last time you cried? Yesterday. Some video of a guy doing something nice got me.
Do you have kids? No kids, just a lot of cats. But I do have a five-year-old in Peru that I sponsor.
Do you use sarcasm a lot? It's my first language.
What sports do you play/have you played? Kickball, and my sister's been attempting to teach me pickleball. Once in a blue moon my family gets the volleyball bug, and we get a big group together for that, but kickball is our go-to.
What’s the first thing you notice about people? Their face? I guess?? I'm not the most observant person.
What’s your eye color? Dark blue.
Scary movies or happy endings? Happy endings ftw!!
Any special talents? Writing, singing, and drawing. I can't do anything super realistic in the drawing department, but I am good at nailing expressions.
Where were you born? My parents' bedroom in our old mobile home.
What are your hobbies? Writing, making fan vids and gifsets, the occasional crochet project, photographing my cats and pretty things outside.
Do you have pets? Many cats. Some of them are strays/dumpees, some are my uncle's barn cats who migrated to my house, some are descendants of my house cat from her philandering days. I have 3 cats indoors (first cat + two of her daughters), plus my sister's Petsmart adoptee. We have two dogs that were dumped down our road, and one who was adopted from a shelter.
How tall are you? 5'8"
Favorite subject in school? English and literature (yes, just "literature", there was no specifying adjective in front of it. 🌸Just homeschool curriculum things. 🌸)
Dream job? Author. Not necessarily a bestseller, but a big seller at least. I'd also really love to be an engine mechanic, but upper body strength is not something I have in spades, and I would need to seriously up my hands' skin care.

i demand more bookworm sophie. if i as a child had to escape through literature then so did she. sophie that still loves all his human books. sophie that cannot get along with bronte until they start talking about books. tam and sophie bonding over what books they like. sophie reading human poetry and ugly crying in the middle of the night bc "he just like me fr" (but the poetry equivalent. you know the one.) sophie.

You are so correct, I know Sophie's got a lot going on in his life right now and so books' priority has dropped. But also. Every day I am haunted by the knowledge that he is a bookworm, that he's a reader and lived his childhood between the pages of stories.
I know in the beginning of his story and in moving to the elven world he left his books behind (piled on every available surface!), that later on he called them "a bit ridiculous now with their wizards and dragons and demigods on the covers" (Exile, p. 421), and that was part of his mindset to help him with this huge, traumatizing transition. And I can understand that.
But also. I would love for him to rediscover that part of himself--although likely not with the same stories and literature--once his life calms down. And for him to turn to stories and creation as part of his processing. To poems and tales and people like him.
And!! Tam too! I personally see Tam as a reader, I've got two fics where it's mentioned off-handed that the reason he was up at midnight/2am is because he couldn't sleep and turned to books. To poetry. And while he might seem like someone who'd brush that off on the outside, I think he'd be an excellent analytic partner who can really get to the meaning behind the writing.
I want to see Sophie come back to it and find himself outside of the Black Swan. Also that doodle is phenomenal! Love love love sketches and you can see exactly what the scene is and the effect the poem has on Sophie, the way it captures how it feels when you find something so poignant and resonating out of nowhere and you don't know what to do with it. 10000/10 tenderly tucking these doodles into my pocket to carry with me everywhere

ok so you know my name already but hana :D and idk if you saw this coming but I pick kuroo :D
I think my personality would be uhhh let's see I'm kind of shy around new people??? But I get very comfortable if you get to know me and I think I can be fun to hang out with if I'm comfy with you. I will always listen to or atleast try to listen to my friends' problems and try my best to give solutions and I try my best to create good first impressions!! I'm definitely much quieter around ppl I'm not exactly close with and I'm kind of an overthinker cuz I overanalyse the smallest situation lol. I also love hugging people and being hugged (also again if I'm comfortable with one then) and I really like words of affirmation and acts of service. I mean if people write texts saying they appreciate me I find that very sweet and I'll prolly love you forever lol (ty saki for that birthday wish I still read it and it makes me blush).
I really like music and literature as well as movies and tv shows (fleabag and dead poets society ftw) I also love greek mythology and mythology in general I like polaroids and film photography too! Oh and also hot chocolate and vanilla scent! I do not like people who interrupt others or like yk when you're trying to get a point across but the other party just isn't ready to listen? It infuriates me!!! Also hate carrots yuck;( oh I also don't like math and learning up history

૮(ˊ ᵔ ˋ)ა 💭: you and kuroo’s relationship seems like it would be light-hearted, supportive and mature. it’s exhilarating like a rollercoaster ride, or a summer day at the beach, but at the same time, it can be calm like the waves in the early morning. this relationship is full of teasing, playful banter (which would be initiated by kuroo) and giggles, and prolonged embraces and meaningful apologies when jokes accidentally cross the comfort border :)
SO... WHY ORANGE CHIFFON?
orange chiffon, in my opinion, looks like a colour that resonates with happy moments, laughter and encouragement, which are things that i think encapsulates you and kuroo as a couple. i believe that in this relationship, you and kuroo spend a lot of time teasing each other (whether it be you making fun of his bedhead, or him making fun of your height), and that is what makes your relationship light-hearted. i can also imagine you and kuroo spending a lot of time laughing with each other—maybe you share the same humour, but i’m sure it’s because you’re both comfortable with each other. i feel like kuroo would also try really hard to make you laugh as he views it as an accomplishment that fuels his confidence!
you’re both incredibly supportive of each other’s dreams and goals, and you both catch each other when the other falls. he knows you like it when he writes you little notes, so on the day of any big event you have (a presentation, an exam, or an interview), he’ll slip a note of encouragement in the top/side pocket of your bag, hoping you’ll read the note (because you reach in there the most).
however, orange chiffon is much lighter than the typical orange colour, and also toned down in vibrancy. to me, this somewhat represents a sense of maturity. a typical orange colour would be brighter, indicating more energy, which i think, would be more likely to associate with naïve teenage relationships. while you and kuroo have your fun being together, it’s slightly different to a relationship between two sixteen-year-olds who fall in love for the first time. i also have a feeling that you’re not each other’s first loves, but you’re each other’s most memorable love—the kind of love that you cannot forget. you could have started off as friends who attended the same high school, and eventually as time went on, when you’re both older and wiser, you fell in love with both the good and bad parts about each other.
because of kuroo’s constant teasing, i feel like disputes mostly arise from that. it sometimes seems like he’s never taking things seriously, but he just assumes that a joke here and there could make you feel better. or sometimes, he goes a little bit overboard, and says something insensitive. while kuroo is proud, he’s never unwilling to admit when he’s done something wrong. he handles most disputes maturely, and as an indirect way to ask for forgiveness, i can see him cleaning the dishes even though it’s your turn to do so today, or taking out your set of pyjamas and leaving them on your bed so you don’t have to get them yourself. it might take you a while to forgive him, but at the end of the day, you always walk back into his arms while he profusely apologises. and of course, his way of making up to you is by spending time with you, suggesting to watch your favourite movie or television show while cuddling you the whole time.

On Brideshead Revisited (1981), shipping, and queerbaiting
To get the most out of my Black Friday Amazon Prime 2-month Britbox subscription, I sat down to bingewatch all my childhood PBS Brit-com favorites: I got reacquainted with my old Friday night friends... Fawlty Towers, To the Manor Born, Are You Being Served, Keeping Up Appearances, and so on.
And then there it was, my first crush, my first love: Brideshead Revisited (BR). Charles and Sebastian, the ship that launched a thousand... well, ships.
It's easy to remember but difficult to describe what it was like to be thirteen years old, in the summer of 1983, when everything was new and exciting, not just for me, but for the whole world, it seemed. My friends were discovering boys; I was discovering my friends discovering boys but failing to understand what the fuss was about. That is, until I saw a promo picture of BR in People magazine and two pairs of luminous brown eyes belonging to Jeremy Irons and Anthony Andrews.
Two pairs of brown eyes, it would seem, that were only for each other.
"Beautiful young men falling in love with each other" became my favorite song, one that would be played over and over for the next 40 years. It informed my entire pop-culture aesthetic, from poetry (second-generation Romantics FTW!) to music (oh, hello there, Morrissey) to movies (Birdy, anyone?) to monsters (*winks at Lestat and Louis*).
I do not exaggerate when I say watching BR when I was thirteen changed everything about the way I would see the world and I am honestly not sure who I would be had it not hit me at the right place, in the right time, in just the right way.
Fast-forward to almost 40 years later and I'm watching BR again, supplied with a whole new toolbox of critical thinking skills because I got a couple of degrees in English literature in the interim... MY GOD they were young, almost as young as I was; I'm middle-aged now, hmmm, do beautiful middle-aged men fall in love with each other too?
Don't be silly, of course they do.
I mean, do they EVER.
OFMD was a complete game-changer; when Ed kissed Stede, every "would-they-or-won't-they" ship that came before was suddenly dismissed as so much hollow queerbaiting; fuck you Nygmapot for teasing us so mercilessly, fuck you Murder Husbands, and most definitely fuck you Destiel for leading us on for eleven goddam seasons...but what about Charles and Sebastian? They never kissed for the camera. Does that count as queerbaiting?
I don't think so, for the following reasons:
It stuck to the source material: Charles and Sebastian never overtly kissed in the book, either. Whatever they did was implied subtextually, more innocently, and being kept under wraps, about ten times hotter.
They never teased it: There were many longing stares, smouldering glances, and lingering touches, but there was never any hint about what might happen if they leaned just a fraction closer, or gazed just a second longer. We never wanted to see it because we didn't have any hope we might have seen it.
It was a different time: I know that sounds like an excuse, but we simply did not get passionate gay kisses on prime-time TV in the 80s and it would have been too much of a distraction to happen then.
Nobody was denying the queer narrative at work: Antony Blanche, God bless him, made sure of that.
BR holds up, 40 years on, in a way that Gotham and Supernatural probably will not and do not deserve to. I can't resent BR for what it didn't do, because of so much that it did do. When Sebastian takes Charles to the botanical gardens for the first time, "to see the ivy"; I walked through that iron gate right along with them and nothing would ever be the same again.
