Whiterun, Morthal, Riften!
Whiterun - Do you tend to do Bleak Falls Barrow before or after meeting with Farengar?
after... i'm always determined to fly straight to whiterun with the news from helgen so that riverwood can be safe. like it will affect anything material in the game. the golden claw can wait a bit there's a literal dragon
Morthal - Do you enjoy exploring dungeons and ruins? Why or why not?
i mean there's not much else to do is there. it does get a bit samey after a while though. kind of a mindless run of blowing stuff up and not questioning the map layout. and then you go to morrowind and realise that dungeons can actually make logical sense
oh i am too hard on skyrim... some of the ruins are pretty impressive. the dwemer ones are imaginative. and thinking up the best way to vapourise as many enemies as you can in one go is always fun
Riften - What's your favourite guild? How do you feel about their questline?
i don't much favour any of them if i'm honest. have already mentioned that i find the thieves' guild more interesting and imaginative than the other major guilds, but still lacking... actually if i'm allowed to call the dawnguard a guild, then i might say them, since dawnguard blows the rest of skyrim out of the water like a dragon reanimated after a thousand years in a lake. and all the characters are kind of off the wall which is always a plus

"Saturday" aks: Riverwood, Ivarstead, Markarth, Blackreach
from this ask game
Riverwood - Hadvar or Ralof? Why?
i've always gone with hadvar in the tutorial just because that's kind of what happens if you play it straight. but he's also a more rounded character i think... somehow has more voiced lines than most npcs (and will not shut up). he intrigues me a little, in that it's atypical at best for a village-born nord to think the empire will be the shining light that saves his homeland from the stormcloaks. but his logic seems a bit askew
Ivarstead - How do you feel about the Greybeards and Paarthurnax?
i understand their complete pacifism as well as i understand delphine's sheer frustration at their inaction... oh it's a tricky one. paarthurnax becoming like. king of the dragons. at the end is slightly alarming i will confess... but i also want to believe him when he says he's overcome his past self. will confess that my dragonborn's story has taken a bit of a turn and she may or may not end up killing paarthurnax, but that's because of a wholly other dilemma in her story
(Markarth - answered here)
Blackreach - What's your favourite enemy in the game? What's your least favourite? Why?
i must confess that when you have the overpowered explode everything spell from anniversary edition, most enemies start to seem the same. least favourite is that guy in the peryite questline who's completely resistent to magic because i'm pretty sure that's illegal. does hermaeus mora count as an enemy because i hate him but at least he's interesting... (*scrolling through the wiki list of skyrim bosses*)... they really could have had some more memorable villains in this game. i don't get why people have crushes on miraak but i do get why they find him distinctive. brynjolf is my personal enemy but you don't get to explode him so

Markarth: If you could rewrite one questline in Skyrim, which would it be?
i would make an alternative ending to the thieves' guild to bring it in line with the other games... well i'm not sure it was quite heading for full-on altruism like jim stacey. but karliah and gallus seemed a lot more fun and less like. evil. than most of the current members. yet by the end, little seems to have changed... and i will confess i do find it one of the more interesting questlines, more variety of things to do and less just killing and fetching things than the others, but still falls flat somehow
i really need to get to writing my fix-it fic... in which - not to spoiler it too much - the betrayal of nocturnal has had repurcussions far beyond skyrim; karliah is working with a shadowy figure claiming to be none other than the grey fox; and all the ex-bandits and dark brotherhood allies lounging around in the ragged flagon because it paid better for less bloodshed are given a right good talking-to

so like. hassildor puts a guy he's pretty sure is a necromancer in his main customer-facing role. because if you're convinced a man is dangerous you should definitely just skip the dbs check and put him front of house. but he waits for someone else to test out this theory because uhhh talking to people is scary. so yours truly has to meet the necromancers at the cursed mine at witching hour or whatever, ready to deal with them. which is to say, i immediately run and get the guards. hassildor shows up in the middle of all this. hassildor punches the necromancers and then the guards for some reason. guards stab hassildor until unconscious and are then killed themselves leaving me and a couple of rubbernecking shepherds to deal with the necromancers. hassildor eventually staggers to his feet and has the audacity to call ME the idiot

well obviously the ships used to levitate past leyawiin but then they banned levitation because nobody ever remembers leyawiin and now they have to put wheels on them or something like when trains change rail gauge
or the tide comes in, leyawiin disappears underwater, the ships go past, the tide goes out, everyone wrings out their underwear, everyday life resumes

so i picked up some dark seducer armour and gave it to my follower who promptly wore it because of course he did. and because his chest was like. right out. i was curious what happened if a woman wore it. and it turns out she does not wear the same armour she wears the cut-out from the boob window. what is skyrim
