Chronivac Twins

The moment I saw this AI image, I knew I had to write something. Probably one of the hottest things I have ever seen.

Empty beer cans filled the table in front of the two men. The room was silent, the TV showing the console home screen, and darkness was creeping in from the night. The night was winding down, and the two friends were enjoying peaceful moment before the night truly wrapped up.

Mason breathed a heavy sigh, comfortable in his current state. He was clearly drunk, but happily drunk. He fished around in his pockets, feeling for the recent purchase he had received that day: a brand new Chronivac tablet. He pulled it out of his pocket, powering it on for the first time, watching the screen suddenly brighten, flashing the Chronivac logo.

“Check it out!” Mason suddenly exclaimed, surprising even himself with his boldness. “I got this new Chronivac in the mail.”

Beside him sat Chris, Mason’s best friend since grade school. Chris was drunker than Mason was, with his eyes closed and his body still, but he too was in happy state of intoxication.

“Oh yeah? What is that?” Chris slurred from the other end of the coach. The back of Mason’s head was resting on the top of the sofa, leaned back in an almost unnatural position. A massive drunken grin was plastered on his face, highlighting the comfortable state he was currently in.

Mason held up the sleek tablet to an oblivious Chris. A loading screen flashed again as the system booted up.

“Yeah, it’s a tool that lets me change a part of my body. Actually it will change a part of both of us. They had a deal on the twins package.”

“Cool…” Chris breathed.

“Yeah. I know you have been feeling down lately, so I thought it would be nice to spice things up for you. Plus, you know you’re my bro. We’ve been buds since we were five years old. I figured it was time we made it official.”

Mason began tapping at the screen, swiping at different sliders and dials. There were dozens of different settings with labels like “Hair”, “Muscle Levels”, “Race/Nationality”… Mason balked at the overwhelming choices and options, but forced himself to stay focussed; this was a change he had wanted for a while.

“So I was thinking of doing some kind of mixed race. Hmm. Japanese and Mexican? I don’t think I’ve ever seen that before. I bet that would look hot. With jacked muscles, like body builders. And since we’re gonna be twins, you’ll get it too. Sound good to you Chris?”

Chris only smiled and laughed to himself, the way drunk people often do. It was clear he was not fully present in the moment. Mason took Chris’ drunken laughter as a sign of agreement and continued with the settings page. He slid up the muscle slider to the max, added jock personalities and details such as personal trainer and fitness influencer. He double checked the ‘Race’ tab, making sure that Japanese and Mexican were both checked off. Pleased with his work, he continued on to the last section, “Target Selection” and “Transform”. He allowed the device a few moments to calibrate before confirming the two bodies in the room. He double checked that the “Twins” button was selected and hovered over the Transform button.

“All right bro. This is it. See you on the other side!”

And with that he tapped the button. The screen went blank for a moment, creating a quick sense of panic in Mason’s heart, but reappeared with a white, animated progress bar.

Mason looked down at his hands and arms. “I don’t feel any different,” he said.

He checked the screen again. The progress bar had moved up by one pixel and showed a time remaining of 1440 minutes.

“Oh shoot! I set the transformation duration to be 24 hours. Well that’s okay. When we wake up tomorrow, we’ll definitely see some changes! Next time you see me Chris I’ll be be a huge muscled-out bro. And a completely different race. And so will you! We’ll be twins. Pedro and Miguel. We’re gonna be so fucking hot.”

A gentle and rhythmic breathing came from the other end of the couch. Mason turned his head and grinned at Chris who had passed out on the couch.

“See you in the morning, Miguel,” he whispered.

Bright sunlight was pouring into the apartment. The morning was late, but the day was still young. Chris stirred on the sofa; he was now lying horizontally on the couch, shirtless and in his underwear. He blinked his eyes in the sunlight, rubbing his eyelids with a balled up fist, and stretching against the soft cushions of the sofa. His broad feet pushed against the far armrest, and his arms stretched off behind him. He sat up, and noticed his first change.

Looking down at his chest, Chris saw his pectoral muscles had ballooned out in front of him to a God-like proportion. He cupped his chest, making note of how his nipple had slipped down below his eye line, and squeezed the new muscle.

“What the fuck?” He exclaimed. “Why do I have tits?”

Mason launched himself off the sofa and dove into the bathroom. The flickering fluorescent light clicked on, revealing the extent of Mason’s initial changes. Below his chest were the unmistakeable beginnings of 6-pack abs. Mason ran his fingers over top of his stomach, remembering the slight beer gut that had been there the night before.

He leaned in closer to the mirror and begin poking and prodding his face. His nose seemed wider and his eyes were narrower. His lips were plumping as well, into two thick pillows. He ran his meatier fingers through his darkening hair; it seemed thicker, curlier and shorter than it had before. He pulled a strand and watched it bounce back into place on his scalp.

The sound of a door slamming brought Chris out of his trance. He stepped out of the bathroom and back into the main room.

“Bro!” Mason called from the entry-way. “Are you up?”

“Yeah! What the fuck is happening to me?” Chris replied in anguish.

Mason came around the corner and Chris immediately became aware that the changes he was going through were also happening to Mason. Mason appeared to be several inches shorter, and Chris noticed that he was roughly eye-level to himself now. His chest and abs were similarly large and muscled as Chris’ were, except Mason’s shoulders and arms were much wider. Veins pulsed across Mason’ skin and over his bulging biceps. His nose and eye shape seemed strangely familiar, as did the plumpness of his lips. Mason noticed that Chris’ hair was shorter on top with a shaved, faded appearance on the side.

“Mason, what the fuck is happening? I pass out drunk and wake up all top heavy like this! And then you waltz in looking like that! What the fuck?”

“Chill out bro,” Pedro said. “And my name isn’t Mason anymore. It’s Pedro. And your name isn’t Chris, it’s Miguel. You’re turning out to be such a hot twin.”

Chris/Miguel was unable to get anymore words out as sharp pains coursed through his arms and legs. He hunched over, wrapping his growing limbs around his torso. In front of his eyes he saw the muscles in his arms and legs double, triple and quadruple in size, into massive slabs of muscle. His trap muscles ached and burned as the fibres inside re-stitched themselves, growing to match the mass of his arms and chest. Across the room Pedro grinned in anticipation, as his adonis belt thinned out, becoming lean and chiselled, into his tight pelvis and butt.

“Miguel, we’re going to be so hot!” Pedro’s voice was deeper and more coastal sounding. His jock-instincts were bubbling in his brain, overwriting whatever personality he had before.

“Don’t call me that. My name is Miguel. I mean Chris.” Chris stammered. “How did you even do this?”

“Bro, it was the Chronivac. I told you last night. Just embrace it. I paid good money for this twins package.”

“I need to call them. There has to be a way to reverse this.”

With a wide stride, Chris/Miguel walked over to where his phone was, but doubled over as a burning pain seared through his stomach. He squeezed with his hands, feeling the muscles underneath swell and grow under his touch. Before his eyes his abs went from flat and empty to being completely ripped. His waist got tighter as his adonis belt and hip muscles also tensed and flexed, just like Pedro’s had.

“Bro, I have a six pack!” Chris exclaimed, his voice cracking as it matched the timbre of Pedro’s.

“They match mine, bro!” Pedro said.

Chris shook his head. If he could just call the company and explain what the problem was, then he figured he could stop the changes. He found his phone and brought it to his face, waiting for Face ID to unlock. The phone vibrated in his dark and meaty hand, refusing to unlock. In the black mirror of his phone, he saw a completely different face than the one he was used to. His nose was wider, and his jaw was leaner. His eyes had narrowed into Asian-like features and his hair was shorter and darker than before. His face was looking identical to Pedro’s, right down to the plump lips.

In a panic, Chris typed in his passcode and Googled the number for Chronivac. The phone began ringing.

“Hello?” said a voice on the other end.

“Hello, is this support? My name is Miguel, I mean Chris. My name is Chris. I don’t own your product, but my brother Pedro — I mean my best friend Mason does. He used the Chronivac on me last night and I woke up with big muscles and my face is looking Japanese and Mexican? And the same thing is happening to him! He says we’re becoming twins. This has to be against your Terms of Service! I didn’t agree to this.”

A dark skin spot formed on the back of Chris’ hand, spreading across his skin and up his bulging arms. His skin was darkening, to match his new ethnicity.

“It sounds to me like it might be too late to intervene. Our records show Pedro and Miguel Watanabe.”

“That’s right,” Miguel interjected. He was Miguel, not Chris.

“Yeah,” the agent continued. “So your brother got the Twins Package, and since you are legally twins now, there’s nothing that can be done to change back the transformation. But it’s going to be great being a pair of super hot Latino-Asian influencers, right?”

“Yeah,” Miguel replied absent-mindedly, and in a voice that was deepening. “Thanks anyway. Peace.”

He hung up and tossed the phone aside. Pedro wandered over and wrapped his hand around his twin brother’s shoulder.

“It’s at ninety-nine percent,” Pedro said, indicating the transformation process on the Chronivac.

Miguel felt another spasm in his thighs and legs and saw his skin was now completely browned and tanned now. His legs were thick and bulging, and so was the rest of his body. A wave of emotions came feelings rolled over his brain, and Miguel stood silently in place as his brain and personality adjusted to match his new physique. Pedro stood still for a moment too, as the twenty-two year old twins realized they could speak English, apanese and Spanish and had a long history of lifting weights and posting work-out videos on TikTok. The transformation progress bar clicked up one last pixel to one-hundred percent, snapping the twins out of their daze.

“Bro,” Pedro said. “You wanna get a workout in?”

“You know it!” Miguel said, high-fiving his twin brother with a grin.

I am always so upset when I learn that some people STILL think she was some untalented pretty face who was only a success because of her relationship with Hearst. Please watch literally any of her movies, silent or sound, to see how untrue this is. She was successful in spite of Hearst's constant meddling. She really shines as a comedienne. Just watch her imitate other silent stars in The Patsy, or her screwball antics in Show People. I've watched so many silents just for her, but she was also really good in sound films, too, like Blondie of the Follies. She's absolutely adorable, and she deserves to be recognized for her talent, alone.

Rita Hayworth (Gilda, Cover Girl)—Absolutely, drop-dead gorgeous. She steals every movie she’s in; she was Fred Astaire’s favorite dance partner, as you can see in clips from their movies [link][link]. Born Margarita Carmen Cansino, Rita's story had its tragedies—her father was awful and had her performing in nightclubs way, way too young; the studio totally remade her look because they were afraid of her hispanic image, putting her through painful treatments and diets; she had a string of failed marriages. But beside all that, I think there's something about Rita that still glows through—an inner beauty that has nothing to do with the studio, or the men who pinned their dreams on her. Rita brings an incandescence to roles that's impossible to replicate, and was truly a great actress in that she could switch from herself—shy Margarita—into a bold and glamorous femme fatale so convincingly everyone fell in love with her as Gilda. She's my favorite movie star, and I think she was a beautiful human through and through—Rita, gorgeous and real and shining bright.

If anyone is looking for a tragic infamous funny fav, this is your girl! She came from a catholic convent to become a showgirl! As many of these early Hollywood stars, she fell victim to falling in love with the wrong man. She had a long lasting affair with a older powerful married man, William Hearst. Their story was so iconic and scandalous that it is largely what inspired Citizen Kane. She gained her fame through him, which eventually gathered her the reputation of being social-climbing and taking advantage of more her looks than her talent. This made her controversial, which wasn't helped by her flirty fun personality and attitude towards other actors (including Charlie Chaplin). All of this hate meant that she was eventually ostracized by Hollywood and even blamed for Hearst's death. My poor girl was excitable, funny, charismatic, energetic, and extremely talented. I believe that at her heart and soul, she was truly a clown. She possesses an incredible gift for mimicry, a deceptively animate face, and an absence of on-screen ego that allows her to throw herself into anything, no matter how foolish or potentially embarrassing, with all of her considerable energy. And it's those ridiculous moments that are almost always her best in film, because to me, that's really who she was. She was silly and sweet and so so so so so funny! And she deserved better than the tragedy of the life she got.

HOW TO: Make an Animated Google Search Overlay

A few people have asked how I did the effect in my pinned post and this set. So, in this tutorial, I’ll show you how to do this typing animation and give you a download to a template I made for the overlay! Disclaimer: This tutorial uses Video Timeline and assumes you have a basic understanding of gif-making in Photoshop.

PHASE 1: THE BASE GIF

I’m not going to show how I made this gif, but if you need any tips on basic gif-making, I have my full gif tutorial here. Instead, here are some tips for making a gif with this effect:

1.1 – Make your gif 540px width, especially if you’re using my template. My gif is 540x400. 1.2 – Use more frames. If you have a lot of characters in your search bar text, you’ll want to make a longer gif (i.e. one with more frames). The gif I made above was only 50-ish frames, so I doubled them and reversed the duplicates so it would play like a boomerang. That gif is a total of 98 frames 😅 1.3 – Have a “feature color” aka choose one color to make pop and make it the same as the overlay. Also, lots of contrast is especially ideal when you have an overlay set to Difference/Exclusion. (Check out the color tutorials on @usergif if you need help making your colors pop!)

PHASE 2: THE OVERLAY

2.1 – Download my template if you’re doing this layout I made this template myself, so all I ask is that you don’t claim it as your own and that you give me proper credit if you decide to use it! Get the PSD with the transparent background here!

2.2 – Download the font Karla (optional) The font I used for the search bar is Karla, a Google Font. It’s not THE Google Font, but I like the way it looks — which is more important to me than accuracy for this part. Here’s the Google Font link. 2.3 – Import the overlay You can either drag the whole folder onto your gif from tab to tab or right-click the folder, select Duplicate Group, and select your gif as the destination document. Just make sure this overlay group is above your base gif! 2.4 – Set the overlay blending options If you’re using my .psd, all the settings are already in place! If not, to get the metallic color effect, simply set the overlay to Difference:

Then, add a gradient overlay that matches your base gif feature color. Here are my settings:

PHASE 3: THE TYPING ANIMATION

*Anakin Skywalker voice* This is where the tedious stuff fun begins...

3.1 – Add your full text Create a text layer with the full text you want in the search bar! Here are my text settings: — Font: Karla Bold — Size: 26 pt — Letter Spacing: 25

3.2 – Create a layer mask This is how we’re going to create the typing effect without typing a new layer each time. You can add a layer mask to your text layer, use the Marquee tool to create a box around all but the first letter of your text, then fill the box with black to erase it. Now, all you can see is the first letter ‘t’

Btw the reason we wouldn’t use keyframes for something like this is because we want each letter to appear in a flash, not with a smooth, sliding reveal like a fade transition. 3.3 – UNLINK THE LAYER MASK This is super important so you can freely move the layer mask with each letter. Just click that chain so it disappears!

3.4 – Trim the text clip SEVERAL times When I say several times... I’m not joking lmao:

Btw, you can click these images to view them at full size and zoom! Now, this part is a little tricky for me to break down into steps, but here are some key tips: TIP A – Trim, Move Layer Mask, Repeat To make it as easy as possible on yourself, the best method is this: — Start with your original text layer (pre-trim) with the layer mask only exposing 1 letter — Move the playhead (red vertical line with the blue arrow) to the spot you want to trim (see Tip B) and click the scissor icon to split the clip — On the copied layer, move the layer mask (white box in the layer panel) to the right to expose another letter. Make sure your layer mask is unlinked (See Step 3.3)! You can see my layer mask moving by the dotted lines in the gif below. — Move the playhead the same amount of spaces as before and trim again: you should now have the original trimmed clip (first letter) and a second trimmed clip (second letter) — Repeat until you’ve done all the letters AND the spaces

TIP B – Make your trimmed clips about 0.03 seconds long. I’ve found this works well for me, especially because I’m working in Video Timeline. It reduces the amount of duplicate frames I get because, for whatever reason, Timeline pauses every 0.03 seconds (at least for me when I click the forward button). In the section above the pink line (image below), you can see I started with my full text clip. Then, under the pink line, you can see how I used the scissor/trim tool to clip them each to a duration of 00:03.

↑ Note: That screenshot is zoomed into the Timeline 100%. The other screenshots are zoomed out which is why the clips look bigger here. TIP C – Your text shouldn’t start at the very beginning. Give yourself some space to let the cursor blink a few times, just like when you pause while typing on a computer. Where you start your typing animation is up to you! In the image below, you can see the first small purple block starts about 1.06 seconds into the gif:

TIP D – Backspace I’m sure you’ve probably figured this out already, but to get the backspace effect I have in my gif, you just move the layer mask to the left to cover the letters you want to “delete.” Then once they appear “deleted,” just edit your next text layer clip with the new word you want to replace it with! (In my gif, I deleted “nik” and replaced it with “@sith-maul.”) Here’s what the gif looks like without the blinking cursor animation:

Now that’s all explained, you basically do a similar thing with the blinking cursor! But no layer masks are involved :)

PHASE 4: THE TEXT CURSOR ANIMATION

4.1 – Create a text layer with just a vertical line like this one → | I’m using the same Karla typeface as before, but thinner. Here are the settings: — Font: Karla ExtraLight — Size: 26 pt

4.2 – Trim, Move, Repeat (Letter Version) This step will be super easy because each cursor clip that follows a letter will be the exact same duration as the letters you’ve already done: 0.03 seconds long. Take a look:

For each letter you reveal, move the text cursor so it’s slightly to the right of the letter, like this:

Do this for all the letters and even the spaces! 4.3 – Trim, Move, Repeat (Blinking Version) This type of text cursor is slightly different because: — These clips are “slower.” The reason is that the Letter Version cursor goes too fast for the Blinking Version. So I doubled the duration of the blinking cursor to 0.06 seconds! — There are spaces between these clips that are the same duration as the clips themselves: 0.06 seconds. — This text cursor starts at the very beginning of the gif and continues after the text is finished “typing,” directly after the last Letter Version cursor. Just add however many blinking cursors you want to the beginning and end of your gif, skipping over the parts where you already did the Letter Version! Here’s how it looks in the Timeline at the beginning of my gif:

PHASE 5: EXPORT

That’s it!! Just convert from Timeline back to Frames and export your gif! As always, I recommend checking your frames when you convert from Video Timeline back to Frame Animation — just in case you may have gotten any duplicate frames. shawn asked me a question about the mensis ritual and mergo and the process of trying to answer it in short became a catastrophic failure.

this is going to be a nightmare (hehehuhehehe) to try to explain in broad strokes to people who don't know bloodborne or even to people who do, but i'm going to do my best. anyone who tells you they know what happened or they have "solved" the mensis ritual is a liar. the timeline is muddy and deliberately vague, up to and including how long ago everything happened. i have educated guesswork but that's it.

i will post pure speculation in italics and important nouns in bold. i am peppering this with as many wiki links as possible to back up my claims. not gonna lie this looks like a fucking MAD magazine editor went to town on it or like the timecube website submitted a guest article.

but much like how you need to first make the universe in order to make an apple pie, we must first talk about the history of yharnam before we can talk about its newest resident, mergo.

untold eons ago, a race known as the pthumerians served the great ones as they slumbered. after becoming exposed to the deliberately vague notion of "the eldritch truth" (it is unclear if this is a specific phenomenon, like the secret to their longevity, or simply the knowledge of the great one's existence), they developed a unique and startling appearance: pallid skin, black eyes, and slacking jaws. i mean, they also lived underground so they look like underground creatures do. either way, they are distinctly inhuman humanoids.

this civilization became lost, but did not die; they continued to serve the "gods" underground, excavating tombs and chambers without rest. over time, they elected a leader, yharnam, pthumerian queen, who was given a ring imbued with special meaning by the great ones indicating her commitment to bearing a special child, a child of blood (the ramifications of this are not known). she still wears the ring today.

arguably, a civil war breaks out in pthumeru, (as evidenced by the armors left by what must have been early cainhurst knights, but i have not looked into this enough to be satisfied) that results in a schism that pushes some pthumerians to the surface, where they become the modern day royalty of cainhurst. the cainhurst royalty and the pthumerian royalty both aspire to have a child of blood and have knights that work explicitly to further this goal, putting them at odds with each other. today's cainhurst royalty maintains some of the "pthumerian look" but not to such an exaggerated degree, with the resemblance fading with each removed generation.

anyway: a bazillion years later or whatever. the cainhurst royals rule over a land that includes the victorian england-ish city of yharnam, named for the forgotten queen of pthumeru. the main appeal of yharnam is its proximity to a university of bold, weird research.

the school of byrgenwerth and its scholars were once an archeological and historical research center. however, during the course of their studies they discovered a vast labyrinth beneath the school where (if the first location they discovered was the same as ours this would be the pthumerian labyrinth) they encountered ancient humanoids, women with the ability to re-animate corpses, an perpetually burning dog who somehow still lives and, most intriguing of all, a creature that defied all understanding. further investigation revealed an unspecified "holy medium", ritual blood, which does not coagulate. this is the ritual blood found in old yharnam on the altar.

further investigation of the labyrinth was halted by the first encounter with a beast. here is a longer post about that encounter and my evidence that leads me to believe it occurred.

this is where things get really fuzzy as to which event happened first. im going to post this part without italics because all the events do happen. its just not clear in what order.

in order to combat these newfound beasts gehrman, a student of byrgenwerth (as he has dialogue where he refers to willem as "master"), took up self-styled arms (the first trick weapons) and became the first hunter. he was followed by a collection of self-styled mercenaries that would come to be known as "the old hunters". there is evidence of the old hunters having once been in the labyrinth as you can summon one to help you fight and the bell descriptions reveal that they were used by the first hunter after discovering them in the labyrinth.

the miraculous healing abilities of the old blood (the origins of which are not specified but i can show you my guesswork later lol) in the labyrinth became known to the students at byrgenwerth. the blood is used to combat the beasts by use of invigorating injections. blood is plentiful and works quickly to heal.

byrgenwerth also begins study and collection of the "phantasms" present (or were once present) in the labyrinth. the discovery of the augur of ebrietas, a slug that summons flailing tentacles of unknown origin, and the arcane properties of pearl slugs drives the school's continued plunges into the depths in spite of the danger posed. part of this research involved discovering the parasitic qualities of these creatures, which could inhabit eyes.

while continuing to investigate the ruins, byrgenwerth became aware of a fishing village where a washed up carcass of a monster was teeming with otherworldly parasites and a stillborn fetus. the parasites had caused the villagers to transform into fish-like monster people not dissimilar to the monster on the coast. the villagers seem alright with this change and actively cultivate millions of the parasites for daily use, such as especially potent lamp oil [1].

upon arrival to the village, the school and its hunters helped themselves to a little bit of genocide just for fun. villager's heads were treppaned open in the search for "eyes on the inside" (a visual metaphor for insight as well as a literal phenomenon) and the monstrous corpse was desecrated by the byrgenwerth researchers who took her child (as the villagers of the fishing hamlet chant) and one of the orphan's three umbilical cords, the one lined with eyes.

i know we find this in a weird place later. we'll get there.

but this wasn't just some pile of fish goo they were fucking with, it was the corpse of the great one, kos (or as some say, kosm). kos's wrath and retribution would come in due time. this event triggered the creation of the hunter's nightmare, a sort of eternal, bloody hell for hunters who participated in the massacre and those who become "blood drunk" where the must relive the event for all eternity. notable hunters trapped in the nightmare from the time of the old hunters include ludwig (not yet notable), laurence (looking awful but he had a busy couple of years before he wound up there), some named NPC hunters such as yamamura and gratia, and lady maria.

lady maria, gehrman's apprentice, could not tolerate her role in the fishing hamlet massacre and threw her beloved weapon into the fishing village well. she, with others, joined laurence when he split from byrgenwerth to found the healing church. its not explicit that the fishing village massacre was the reason for the split, as there were ideological differences (and family matters) brewing that also came to a head, but a one sided genocide seems like a matter that would cause a splinter between one faction that is ruthless in its methods and another that appears to be in the business of healing.

but thats a whole other post.

Who I think the Lost Boys' favorite Monster High characters would be

This turned out longer than I expected, but I also included explanations for my picks. Let me know your guy's thoughts :))

(I did try to put a read-more link, but it fucked up the picture formatting, so I apologize for the long post)

David: G1 Toralei Stripe and G3 Draculaura

For Toralei, David LOVES a messy bitch. He supports women's wrongs always, and Toralei causes almost every problem in Monster High. I definitely see David as a cat guy, and Toralei is the true embodiment of cat-attitude. She's a leader and your classic mean-girl, but doesn't like kicking people who are already down, and you know what? He respects it. He respects it a lot.

When it comes to Draculaura, he didn't really get the G1 hype. She's very sweet and pink, which is Totally not his style (so he says), and he thought the Monster High take on vampires was incredibly silly. But by G3, Draculaura's grown on him. He doesn't really get the whole vampire-witch thing, but he's surprisingly fond of her new style. He likes the dainty little sheer details on her main doll's top especially. Also, the image of this "cool" vampire with a cute little pink doll is Very Good.

Marko: G1 Venus McFlytrap and G3 Frankie Stein

Look at Venus and tell me Marko wouldn't be obsessed with her. Her overall personality is really inconsistent, but he's super fond of her being depicted as a loud, chaotic party animal. He really likes her bold colors and all of the patterns she wears and the fucking sharp teeth on her shoes. I could see him trying to recreate that. He'd also add little details of his own to her battle vest.

He wasn't really big on G1 Frankie because she was sort of basic to him, but really likes the new take on their preppy/punk style, especially the new bright color palette. Neons really stick out to him. The new prosthetic leg is so goddamn cool y'all, and he'd be all over the idea of Frankie doodling on themselves. Also! Canon trans doll! I headcanon Marko as transmasc, so the inclusion of a nonbinary doll that actively binds? Sign him up, he wants that.

Paul: G1 Lagoona Blue and G3 Ghoulia Yelps

Lagoona is such a cute monster, and she's so fucking friendly. She can get along with any monster without letting anyone walk all over her (except for Gil, who Paul HATES), and Paul would just adore her passion. He really likes how she leans into the whole fish-aesthetic with her outfits, and he just thinks she so cool. Like, look at the fishnet shorts!! He'd love that shit!! Specifically I think he'd like her Dawn of the Dance look, but moreso the official art rather than the doll.

G3 Ghoulia is so cool y'all. He already liked G1 Ghoulia, who was easily in his top five monsters, but G3 has that skater/gamer aesthetic and this man just eats it up. I feel like he'd be disappointed that she doesn't speak Zombie anymore, but her new cool-girl schtick makes up for it. He definitely gets rid of her eyebrows with nail-polish remover as soon as he gets her out of the box though. Thinks she looks better without them.

Dwayne: G1 Clawdeen, G1 Abbey Bominable, and G3 Ghoulia Yelps

Yes, Dwayne gets THREE because I genuinely couldn't decide between G1 Clawdeen and G1 Abbey for him, and I didn't feel like G3 Abbey was really his style.

G1 Clawdeen is That Bitch. She's confident, bold, and does not hesitate to call someone out on their bs. I think Dwayne would really admire her feircly protecive nature and her no-nonsense attitude. And that fur coat? That fur coat that she wears to high school? Increadible. Amazing. Showstopping. Dwayne would also figure out how to curl doll hair just for Clawdeen because he Knows what she deserves. The irony of a vampire liking a werewolf character is not lost on him.

Is Abbey's accent accurate to the Himalayas? No. Does Dwayne care? Also no. Abbey is way too charming of a character for him to be terribly bothered by her Russian-esk accent (even though he points it out Every Time). She's honest to the point of accidently insulting her friends and doesn't really understand a ton of cultural differences, which Dwayne thinks makes her more fun. He'd really love her dry sense of humor and her strong disposition. And honestly? Maybe I just think he has a thing for faux fur.

Another G3 Ghoulia enjoyer. I feel like we've somehow collectively forgotten that Dwayne skateboards. I haven't forgotten though, and I think Dwayne would redecorate Ghoulia's skateboard and then promptly lose it (he'd end up stealing Paul's and then gaslight him into thinking it was his the whole time). I think he'd really enjoy this more confident version of Ghoulia, but again, disappointed by the language shift. (I'm projecting at this point.)

Star: G1 Spectra Vondergeist and G3 Cleo De Nile

Look me in the eyes and tell me that Spectra DOESN'T make you think of Star. She's pretty reclusive but a mega gossip, and she's super quick to make judgements. Spectra will literally make shit up and then start to believe it herself, including lies about her own past. Her aesthetic is somewhere between the lost boys' and Star's, which looks both cool and super flowy. Star would totally see herself in Spectra in both appearance and personity, and as another supporter of women's wrongs, I think that she'd adore her.

Honestly I feel like G3 would be a hard sell for Star because she's already so attached to the original versions of the characters, but if she had to pick, it would be Cleo. Her jacket and accessories are so fucking cool, and Star definitely wishes she could see herself properly so she could do makeup like that (she does NOT trust the boys). She would try to paint Cleo's molded-on bandages and ruin the plastic, but she'd wrap real fabric around it to hide her fuck up.

Michael: G1 Frankie Stein and G3 Deuce Gorgon

Michael is nothing if not a basic bitch. G1 Frankie is very peppy and constantly confused since she's somehow always 16 days old, which I think Michael can relate to. She has the messiest fucking love-life known to man, and he gets it. She's exploring and trying to learn everything at once, which includes relationships, and Michael isn't exactly known for thinking things like that through. He isn't the biggest on any sort of fashion, but I think he'd like her color palette and the little stitch details. That, and I think he'd find her heterochromia really cool.

G3 Deuce is the first time Deuce didn't look like a weird asshole to Michael, and I think after meeting the lost boys, he's definitely more into alternative men's fashion than he used to be. This new Deuce is what Michael considers "cool" in a cartoonish sort of way. I wouldn't put it past him to try to figure out how to decorate his jacket a little to resemble Deuce's considering the lost boys all have something unique going on, but I think he'd end up regretting the snake motif since it isn't really Him.

Honorable mentions: G1 Jackson Jekyll, G1 "Slo Mo" Mortavitch, G1 Iris Clops

Sam: G1 Draculaura and G3 Twyla Boogeyman

He's going with the safe choice, but he's right. Draculaura is sweet, sensitive, and a shopaholic (something he can related to, Mr. Born-to-shop). I think, like Star, he'd be the type project onto her. He'd get as many different Draculaura sets his grubby little hands and mostly-empty wallet can get and he'd talk to all of them like, "You hearing this shit, Draculaura?" Even though she's a vampire and he's recently been on the anti-vampire bandwagon, he makes an exception for her because she's vegan.

I feel like he was surprised with how much he liked the new Twyla since he wasn't terribly fond of G1 Twyla, but I think changing the green to a nice teal really helped. Her patterns don't clash as much (neither do her accessories, which he was SUPER bothered by in G1), and her hair Actually looks nice. She just feels more cohesive, which really sells her to Sam. He's still a die-hard Draculaura fan, but there's room in his heart for two cute monsters.

what if,,,, hypothetically speaking,, i do a frame by frame analysis of the nocti v nigel cg,,, ahahaahaaaa,,,,,,

I AM GONNA PUT THIS HERE NOW THERE ARE SPOILERS FOR SANDS OF WRATH AND, OBVIOUSLY, SPOILERS FOR THE CG

i do recommend watching the cg first before reading all this since i will mention a lot about nocti and nigel's movements using timestamps for the vid since my storage hates me and i can't really properly add multiple clips 💔

I WILL ALSO BE USING MTL FOR ALL THE DIALOGUE SO I'M VERY SORRY IN ADVANCED IF THE DIALOGUE IS INCORRECT TO WHAT IT ACTUALLY IS

from the get-go i will mention that before nocti entered this fight, skk had a m.i.n.d link with nocti. and since skk is poisoned, nocti is gonna feel the same over the time

aside from him coughing up vital fluid at 0:39, you can really see the poison start getting to him when he fights. starting from 0:14 you see nocti's movements getting slower and slower which becomes more obvious when you see him throw less punches/kicks and his reaction time worsening, allowing nigel to easily counterattack

callback to his last fight with nigel shown at the beginning of the chapter

i would also love to point out how nigel is such a good foil for nocti. from the opposing color schemes to their behavior. nigel having a black color scheme to fit with the whole idea that he is an assassin hiding in the shadows (which is an often recurrence of him throughout the story by either him watching nocti in the distance or showing up unexpectedly). black can also be associated with power and death, connecting to the fact that nigel carries such a strong poison to where there's no known cure, which allows nigel to easily control others to his bidding and/or make them suffer. as opposed to nocti having a white/vibrant red color scheme to fit how bold or loud he is. red can be associated with anger and white can be associated with purity/innocence so it fits with his personality too (since nocti is often left in the dark of a lot of situations back when he was in the purifying force)

ever since the beginning of this chapter nocti has implicity or explicitly stated (whether it be through his first encounters with skk or in flashbacks of his hubris being in the purifying force/early days of cerberus) he prefers to work alone and leave it at that. he thought it'd benefit everyone if he didn't rope people into his mess, and he fully believed finding and confronting nigel again is something only he should burden

skk, cerberus, and the people of new oakley however say otherwise.

skk, in their words, "took a gamble" and just had a gut feeling to stick around and help him and even be down to consider him as a partner

it should probably be noted that skk saying they believe him "just because" carries a lot more weight than at first glance. having someone believe him without him really needing to prove himself with evidence makes nocti appreciate skk a lot more than when he first encountered them in EX05 or at the beginning of this chapter, showing that skk isn't like everyone else he's met and perhaps has a chance to be friends or more with them

and the people of new oakley see him as a brother/friend they could rely on and share a drink with

ER05-09 after nocti saves new oakley he gains a lot of respect from the people in town and they all decided to celebrate nocti's win

for most of his life he was practically feared or looked down upon by the people he was with 'cause of his loud and reckless demeanor, and to finally have that revelation that he IS wanted, needed, LOVED even, that people are able to put their trust and faith in him, that allows him to be the best version of himself he could ever ask for

am i looking too deep into this? probably

there's probably a lot of bias from that whole analysis i just love nocti ok—

i do wish we can see more of his backstory. he's one of the few that actively hide it (with the addition of vera not revealing it out of some respect for him), and i just wanna do a deep dive of how he became the way he is today. he's also one of the older constructs given his frame id (BPO-03), makes me wonder how or why he became a construct in the first place-

i know ive reblogged that post a couple of times now about how old internet wasn't "better" in terms of the content on it (pain olympics, rotten, meatspin, etc) but there was definitely more agency in being exposed to that content. as others in the thread said, you developed a kind of 'street smarts' about the internet, knowing which roads to avoid/which links to click and where they might take you. yeah youd take some wrong turns but thats how youd learn. just like the real world has seedy back alleys, the internet did too. and most of them were 'dead ends' anyway: tubgirl and lemon party were just the isolated image. it's not like they automatically subscribed you to mailing lists or downloaded viruses or notified your neighborhood that you'd visited. they were closer to gross-out pranks than anything nefarious, if anything just making both kids and parents more mindful of what they could find online.

i learned pretty early on that not every website about pokemon was safe just because pokemon was for kids, and i learned to identify and stay away from them; it helped that many sites/webrings were clearly labeled as either containing hentai or being 'hentai-free'. i recall many 'shrine' sites having a separate 'hentai page', like the back room at a video store, with bold #FF0000 "WARNING 18+" as a splash page before the main index. nothing could stop me from clicking it of course, but i knew what to expect if i ever did. sure there were the occasional porno popup ads, but like the seedy back alleys those were indicators that i was in a 'bad part of town' and should be hightailing it out of there anyway, malicious more often to software than psyche.

neopets and beheading videos existed on the same internet, but there was zero chance of grainy footage of iraqi POWs showing up in the same window as meerca chase. with the congealing of individual sites into The Big Four glorified RSS feeds, there is no delineation between these things, no demarcation -- site as location is eliminated. this simultaneously atomizes and flattens both war crime evidence and virtual pets into "media", bits of decontextualized data, the dreaded "content", dissolved and extruded as slop into a digital trough. a literal feed. the marked difference between internet of then and now is that i had the power to both detect and avoid that kind of content because they were in physically separate locations, whereas in modern day internet everything is in the same place, so it gets directly beamed into my face.

one of the primary reasons i never migrated to twitter was because my friends would follow porn on their main accounts, which would not affect me at all except that twitter would go "hey! look at this post your mutuals liked!" and it would be porn. like sure i can go to the public square's market for my groceries since it's popular and convenient but there's also people being drawn and quartered there sometimes (something something foucault discipline and punish surveillance state etc). the algorithm forces content on you against your will and the only way to curtail that is to feed the algorithm your information, placating a wild beast holding you hostage, hoping the panopticon will avert its gaze a moment, versus the old internet of being able to go out and hunt. if i go out into the wilderness and see a dead animal, that's unfortunate but that's life. that's their habitat. if roadkill is continuously delivered to the front door of my apartment, that is not me being a 'puritan who cant handle """"dark themes"""" or the reality of death' or whatever. thats an issue of it's my fucking house and i shouldnt have to build it up like a fortress of browser extensions to be able to choose what goes into it.

8. Valentine Everett (He/Him) @furbyskinlobotomy

This man has slowly become immortal by turning evil rocks into evil goo and becoming one with the evil goo, and is now plagued by an evil goo ghost. he may have conducted some unethical experiments regarding evil rock chemistry but it's fine because he's gay and trans. I will defend this man and his crimes until I die.

29. Dr. Blackbyrd and Dr. Eosin (Any Pronouns) @cherry-spot

Dr Blackbyrd and Dr Eosin are absolutely a recipe for disaster, both being digital beings that helped found (with two of their other coworkers) CMYK Labs, a genetics facility that also focuses on more niche subjects depending on the branch.

Byrd primarily focuses on robotics, altering animals in her experiments to test the capabilities of artificial intelligence and cybernetics. She even added a good amount of augmentations to herself; she used to be a purely organic (albeit, AI, but has a physical body) harpy, but now she has a variety of features such as metal claws, a bladed tail, and metal teeth.

He's very eccentric and chaotic, often working on impulse with the wild ideas he spawns in his head. He can be a bit on the cruel side sometimes, leading to his closest friends and partners leaving him, causing him to stick by Eosin's side (who encourages this behaviour).

Their favourite experiment is the creation of Thanatos, an altered lioness that they practically remade to be entirely robotic, featuring a bold metal mane as well. She's essentially their guard lion at this point - being their biggest and strongest experiment, as well as most loyal.

Eosin focuses on otherworldly creatures and monsters, as well as advanced computer viruses. They're responsible for a virus that effects Byrd's behaviour, and even managed to build augmentations on their coworkers in order to hold power over them as well. Their main goal is to essentially make the world their own personal sandbox, getting Byrd to team up with them to use her digital powers to achieve this goal.

Eosin is a lot more calculated and mysterious compared to Byrd, only speaking when necessary and always being careful with her words. She comes off as very polite as well, trying her best to appear as rational as possible. If brought to violence, though, she's a swift force to be reckoned with, practically an eldritch being of sorts, her incredible height of 11ft tall aiding her as well.

His favourite experiment is the virus he injected into Byrd, named nov288.vax, or "Nox" for short. It's a worm that overstimulates her system to the point of her having a meltdown if she tries to get rid of it, as well as giving her a boost of euphoria if she continues to act cruel and malicious.

Art in HotD - 1x04 “King of the Narrow Sea”

I didn’t set out to do an episode by episode analysis, but it’s not my fault this show keeps giving me material, so,,, Also I’m sorry for not embedding the references in the post and linking them out instead, but Tumblr keeps a ten images limit per post and I’d rather anchor the commentary in screencaps.

The episode opens with a look at the inside of Storm’s End (which we never got a description of in the books because all the action happens outside). It’s very spartan and undecorated, which sort of tracks with the Baratheon vibe.

Back in King’s Landing, we get a shout out to the textile art of Qohor and Norvos, which shows that they really are doing their homework because the tapestries are only mentioned in passing in the books when describing the council room. Unfortunately we don’t get to actually see them because Viserys decides to be a dick about it to Alicent. Boo.

We get a good look at the fresco under the wisteria arbor in the godswood. It seems like another instance of Valyrian taste being inspired by Roman antiquity, as it’s reminiscent of Roman garden painting:

It seems to be a more naturalistic, loose style of painting compared to both the more archaic looking erotic art from inside the Keep and the “international Gothic” style painting behind Viserys in the previous episode. This decorative naturalism tracks with both the paintings we got from imperial Rome, and the Renaissance approach to landscape.

Are those braziers to the left here dragon shaped or griffin shaped? the way the wings are rendered makes me unsure, but I would actuaally love if - kind of like in the real Middle Ages - the heraldic representation of animals wasn’t entirely accurate (see also the Velaryon seahorse sigil). Or it might really be a griffin, a Connington gift or an Essosi import just like the aforementioned tapestries. I also wondered how many pieces on set were commissioned and how many bought ready made because they fit with the aesthetic.

The dragon in Rhaenyra’s room. At least she doesn’t get sex/fertility art in the room where she supposedly grew up. My immediate reaction to the picture, however, was to associate it with the erotic paintings because it’s sort of flat and the lines are bold, but it’s also very flowery and ornate in a way that I associate more with the hunt painting from episode three that I “dated” to Jaehaerys’ reign. On the other other hand, the fact that it hides/signals a secret passage makes me think this might also come from Maegor’s reign.

And now, on to the good stuff: the scene where Daemon is banished to the Vale by Viserys gives us a clear, well lit look at the columns in the throne room. Let’s rewind the tape for a moment: the Great Hall in GoT looked like this...

It makes sense that it looks different two centuries later, and it has become richer and more refined. It also makes sense that Robert’s regime would have tried to hide or destroy the Targaryen signifiers around the Keep as much as possible (though in the books it seems limited to Robert taking down the dragon skulls and no substantial structural change is mentioned). But I also think HotD is jumping at the chance to imbue its design choices with lore in a way that GoT never cared to do, so - besides having an Iron Throne that’s more in line with how it’s described in the books - it makes the throne room another celebration of the history of House Targaryen. And once again it does so by looking at Imperial Rome: enter Trajan’s Column.

Trajan’s column was a monumental column, and as such didn’t serve a structural purpose like the ones in the Great Hall, but like their obvious inspiration they seem to depict war scenes - if you enlarge the screenshots above you can see soldiers wearing helms, warriors on horseback, archers, and in the bottom frame of the column on the right what seems like a cluster of shields (maybe a callback to the testudo formation, also depicted on Trajan’s column?)

The middle row here is the most interesting because it seems to depict a dragon wing flying over soldiers, while a crowd overlooks the scene from a balustrade (possibly cheering for the dragon?). If we assume that these columns have been designed with the Roman blueprint in mind, the narrative should be continuous across the different rows, so it’s unlikely that this scene is the conclusion of a war as it’s in a middle row.

Hard to tell which war, though. The armors and weapons depicted are stylized enough that it’s difficult to date them or even place them geographically; these could be scenes from the Conquest (the first two Dornish wars?), or wars from Valyrian history. Either way, this version of the Great Hall has been designed so that people who enter it see not only grandiosity, but also a long and victorious history; makes sense especially because relatively to Westeros, Targaryens are *new* and foreign, even more so when the Keep was built. The decorations on this most public facing room establish loud and clear that the house of the dragon is strong and has a history, something the sometimes very old nobility of Westeros has got to respect - and fear.

Working on a fanfic that I consider the ultimate betrayal because Amiya and Mephisto aren’t completely awful to each other in it. If you don’t know, I derive great amusement from their dynamic as enemies. Normal people AU but I can’t ever stop myself from writing Mephisto as annoying and mean because he is too emotionally immature and lacking in morals to just play nice. At this point every character I write acting rude and self centered to each other just happens on its own.

As for fanfics where they are just awful to each other, I feel kinda bad for abandoning my long fic and I will come back to it after finishing the above one. It was made when I was starting to write fanfics and I didn’t know how to tell the story I envisioned. So it became impossible to continue as it was. I have most of a new chapter hidden away, but I honestly want to restructure the whole thing and tell a tighter story.

I have a WIP sequel for Halo Effect linked above that is even more angsty and tragic.

If you've stumbled on this blog at random, I suggest having a read of this!

Reason being, the topic of this blog is related to a very niche community and probably won't make any sense at all without context. :P

First thing's first, a quick introduction to me: I'm Rook, a queer agender adult. I use they/them pronouns, thanks!

I'm a daemian, and have been for over a decade. ^u^ I'm going to be crossposting modified versions of my analytic interpretations from TDF to here!

Right, before I get into explanations, some blog info!

I categorise analyses posted here with tags for different groups they belong to. So an ant analysis might be tagged with #invertebrate, #insect, #hymenoptera, and #ant.

Important note: posts here will likely contain images of animals, and that includes animals that may be triggers for those with phobias (such as spiders and snakes)! I will always tag these with the animal for categorisation purposes (e.g. spiders will be tagged with #spider) and I'll try and remember to tag them with trigger warnings too (e.g. #tw spider).

I don't prioritise writing analyses for well-known or iconic animals. You can expect a bit of a mixture!

Yes, you can request an analysis! Bear in mind these things take a big chunk of time to research and write, so please be patient with me. I'll edit this if my inbox gets too full. '^^

Okay, Q&A time~

Wait, wait, you lost me. Daemian?

Right, context time! A daemian is a person who practices daemonism. Despite how it might sound, this isn't a spiritual practice or a religion -- more of a psychological thing for most of us!

Daemonism has its roots in the fan community for His Dark Materials (HDM), a book series by author Philip Pullman.

In HDM, every human has a sapient companion called a "dæmon" that represents their inner nature. Dæmons begin their lives as animal shapeshifters, but when their human reaches a certain age they settle into a permanent animal form which represents their human in some way.

Daemians took this idea and built a community and practice around it! Daemonism has two sides: one is to learn to communicate with your daemon, who is usually a psychological aspect of yourself or your mind; the other side is to find a fitting form. The latter is what this blog is concerned with!

The daemian community is a pretty old one by internet standards -- about two decades old now, if I'm remembering correctly! It's always been niche, but we're super welcoming to those wanting to learn more or give it a try. c:

So what's an "analytic interpretation"?

Within the daemian community, a few different ways have emerged to find what form your daemon might take to represent you.

Some of these align closely with the way daemon forms work in HDM -- they use cultural associations and animal symbolism. So, a lion might be proud, bold and lazy!

Analytic is a bit of a different beast. The analytic system was thought up by the daemian community, who wanted a system which more aligned with real animal behaviour rather than anthropomorphisation.

Analytic is a system that translates animal behaviour into human personality traits. There are conventions for how this is done, which give the system a bit of consistency -- but ultimately it's still more of an art than a science, and not everyone would interpret an animal in exactly the same way. That's okay, though! It's just part of the fun. :P

Analyses are write-ups which describe how the author interprets the animal's behaviour. That's mostly what I intend to post on this tumblr!

Analyses are written as resources for the daemian community, to help them find a form which they feel fits who they are. ^^

How does someone find what animal fits them?

Analytic form-finding is a big, big topic! There's a lot of depth to it, really.

Most people start their analytic journey by making a list of their personality traits. They can then compare this list against existing analyses, find animal behaviours that may align, or share the list with the daemian community so others can make suggestions!

If you're interested in getting involved, I highly recommend joining the daemian community!

There's two main, active centres for the daemian community online. The oldest is The Daemon Forum (TDF), which -- given it's a forum -- isn't the busiest place, but there's still folks around!

TDF also has a Discord server, which is a bit more lively! It's a good place to ask questions and interact with members of the daemian community.

Can I ask questions about daemonism / analytic forms / etc. here?

Yes! Absolutely feel free! Daemonism is my special interest of all time, I love talking about it. :D You can ask stuff about general daemonism too, not just forms or analytic stuff!

❝ △ — HEADCANON : miscellaneous / i.

here is an overview about my rendition of the hero of twilight, i will expand further on these concepts at some point in the future but this is just to serve as a general overview on how i write link :)

link found that the more and more he took on his wolf form, the more it seemed that the abilities tied to it also became apart of his mortal being as well--he can understand and even speak to the animals not just in ordon but hyrule overall… the goats can be quite chatty. also, he still has the sixth sense from his wolf form, though it can be a bit overwhelming sometime, causing him headaches. when in human form, if he see's a stray cat or dog or any cute cuddly animal really link will pick them up and love on them--he has always been extremely found of animals but even moreso now as he feels they better understand him than people.

paired with the above, link has developed a strong taste for raw or damn near raw meat ( blue rare steak, beef tartar, exclusively eating fish as sushi, sashimi, or ceviche style ).

while being apart of the destiny tied to hyrule and the three golden goddesses--he doesn't really have faith in the religion aspects behind it ( kind of hard to believe in something that you are ): with this, he'll attend meetings at hyrule castle as the hero but does not partake in the political discussions regarding the kingdom nor give opinions. now, depending on the topic, link can actually be a bit of a chatterbox but he is always wary of damaging the image of 'the green garb he wears/the kingdom's savior' so he chooses to remain silent in the vast majority of situations, allowing others to do the speaking. plus, he still views himself as a simple country boy with an obvious southern-slang ridden accent and isn't the most proper mannerisms wise outside of being a strong fighter.

while a shepherd / farmhand by trade link is actually very smart in a plethora of intellectual pursuits—if not playing with the kids in ordon or working, he can usually be found at home with his head stuck in a book on a variety of subjects, his favorites being those of magic and swordplay…because of this he was able to put a lot of book knowledge into actual practice during his journey, shown when he is highly adapt at using the various tools in his arsenal: bombs, boomerang, bow, ball & chain, clawshot, dominion rod, etcetc ( though as the inheritor of the triforce of courage i believe it also comes with the past knowledge of its past wielders / his incarnations ).

my thoughts on lila: he does not love lila in a romantic way, he definitely views her as a very close friend, even as a younger sister. she helped him a lot when he first came to ordon as a young child with his parents ( his mother was frail and his father thought the peaceful village of ordon near the spirit spring would do her health better ): and has always been kindhearted, he admires that about her—even with everything destiny has tossed his way, link is glad she was apart of it. even if at times the things she says can make him flustered, out of the sheer boldness.

the hero shade (hero of time link): spent a good deal of time actually talking with link, outside of just teaching him the seven hidden skills of the blade. specifically about the true burdens of the destiny he was born into and his own regards as the legendary one, as well as how to cope with the whole wolf think ( as he, too was once transfigured not of his own digression ): the relationship is even greater than mentor and student, but a grandfather to his grandchild. note: if you play 'hero of time link' while this is true for this blog's canon, i can always omit it in threads with you, if you have a different version of the hero shade.

you will rarely find link out during morning. he has become a strong night owl, preferring dusk-the witching hours (12-3am) after his adventures with the twilight princess, he longs to see it again and while, searching for a way to see midna / the twilight realm again, he clings to the brief spans of time when it seems the world of light and shadow coexist.

he has frequent nightmares, leaving him in a constant state of sleep deprivation and dark bags under his eyes. he knows he defeated ganon, he knows zant is long dead but he worries for the world he no longer as access too as well as the future fate of his own.

link wishes that another 'soul of the hero' is never needed. he wants to spit in the face of the golden goddesses and even hylia to a degree ( from what has been told to him from zelda about her, she's as bad as the rest but not as much ): to tell them the next time they need a hero do not look to him or any of his descendants. his talks with the hero shade have helped a lot regarding his feelings but link's unable to go back to the life of easygoing peace he once knew, he craves adventure--even if also terrified by the notion of needing to save the world again.
