i havent looked at gl 1960 #40 in about two years and it’s suddenly getting me so emotional not only because john broome had written a fair bit of alan in the golden age too and now he got to show him all grown up twenty years later having achieved real true success as the president of the gbc but because in effect nothing had changed between alan & doiby (and wouldn’t for another year or two) they still lived together and gbc’s employees actually referred to doiby as mr scott’s man friday... likeeeee. i won’t say it but we all know where i’m going with this. tearing up btw

Regarding what you asked a few post ago. I don’t think the sex was too rushed! There was too much sexual tension already they were likeeeee waiting for waaaayyy too long. The party where he told her stuff you could tell there was so much sexual tension between them but Eddie was a huge idiot. A big dumbass in that chapter. I think it was good that they did it chapter 9. They needed it. Plus I’m sure there’s gonna be more angst with reader and Vecna and her brother. And Eddie feeling like crap.

Regarding Steve I also like that reader and him never had a deeper relationship. One bcs she’s always been in love with Eddie. Since like forever. So if she has a relationship with Steve it just wouldn’t have made sense? Bcs I assume she never was in a serious one bcs she was in love with Eddie so she never gave the time of day to anyone else. Much less Steve bcs she didn’t want to lead him on. Plus the fact that Steve never had a chance makes the story better. Kind of like he never got to be with her so now he has to go through the jealousy and the anger and their temporary rupture in their friendship. Kind of like the boy who never got the girl. Personally I like that in this story steve doesn’t get everything he wants for once

The tension would be unbearable at this point, so it kinda just happened naturally & they trust each other (even tho they arent close but at the same time they kind of are? does that make sense?) And you’re right, there’s definitely a lot more angst coming in the future chapters! Not the kind that we’ve seen in the previous ones but still!

And you’re right about Steve! I think, she could’ve given him a chance, he really loves her & I think, she could’ve loved him too but it would never be the same as it is with Eddie, so it wouldn’t be fair to Steve. That’s why she probably never even considered dating him, even when she was 100% convinced that Eddie hates her and that he’d never want her the way she wants him. She could’ve tried moving on but for her it was, Eddie or no one.. Poor Steve never gets the girl but.. he will still always have her, she’s his best friend after all 🥺

Based on what I’ve seen on my dash(I follow a few people, including you that watch the show)New Amsterdam seems inconsistent and badly written and also short changes the WOC. I’m not fond of how Lauren and Leyla met either, and how Lauren’s attitude only seemed to change once she was told Leyla was a doctor but I’m likely going to watch for myself to form a proper opinion but based on how things are currently would you recommend the show ?

well... okay in fairness to lauren, the first time she ever met leyla, all she knew about her was that she was the patient's uber (drive time in the show) driver who had no personal relationship or knowledge about her medical history, coming in with medical suggestions before lauren herself got to run any tests. so that's why she was initially dismissive of her diagnosis. then the second time they met they got into an argument because leyla, who again is just a random person with no medical training to lauren, stabbed her patient with a needle instead of running to the trauma room 50 feet away to grab help. likeeeee i think it's understandable why she got pissed?

my two cents, if you're going to watch it for the ship alone, it's probably not worth it. this show has always been very focused on it's main characters (max, helen, iggy, floyd, lauren, vijay (s1-2)) and everyone else, while loveable, exist to supplement their respective main's story. as much as i love leyren as a ship, my fondness for them is amplified because of the journey that i've followed lauren's character through from s1 to now. so i guess i'd recommend you give the first couple episodes a try and if you find yourself invested in any of the main characters, continue giving it a go. if not, call it a day. we don't always get the full context or only a very specific perception of a show through dashboard watching so. no harm in giving it a try.
