Trafalgar Law x GN! Mugiwara! Reader // Words : 750 // Warning : Law is a bit OC by being flirty. (no beta reader)

Luffy had once again emptied the food stock, earning a kick from Sanji, a punch from Nami and a death glare from Law. The Straw-hat boy was an expert to thwart Law’s plans. The Heart was getting used to it.

The Thousand Sunny and the Polar Tang berthed next to another on the big docks of White Castle, an island known for their marketplaces. It was the perfect place for Sanji to fill up the pantry and for everyone to do some purchases. Everyone was content with that unforeseen stop.

Law was leaning on the railings of the submarine, looking at the city.

“Are you really staying here sulking until the evening?”

He turned his head to you, standing on the quay, and smirked at your remark. “And who’s going to keep the sub if I’m leaving?”

“Close it? Moreover, Zoro’s keeping the Sunny, he can keep an eye on the Tang too. I’m suuure if there is a place you can find a medical book you don’t already have in your huge collection, it’s here.”

Law knew you were right. About Zoro. And about the book. And he found it entertaining to hang out with you. He already had before, during missions or free time on your both ships. You had many interests and hobbies, some he shared, which led you to lots of interesting conversations, sometimes with crewmates, others just the two of you. The man wasn’t naïve; he knew he had fall in love with you and that he couldn’t do anything against it but be there, enjoy your presence and protect you whenever you’d need it. And expect you feel the same. Because he wasn’t sure.

“Look, isn’t it the book you wanted the last time?” Law walked closer to you and watched the book you pointed to. You were right, he was looking for it. That was the kind of thing that made Law thought you could love him too. All those moments you would point out something he likes or wants; or despises, just to kid him with your mischievous smile.

“Yes, it is. Thanks (Name)-ya.”

Law kept looking at the medical section with you before going to the cheek out. The shop assistant registered it and asked him. “It is a gift for you (gender)friend? I can gift-wrap.” Law was wondering what made them think it would be a gift for you, that you answered. “We’re not together.” And Law, in a murmur, added “not yet”, without knowing you heard.

You went on and on with different kind of shops, through different marketplaces, until “I’m hungry.”

“Oh, so it was your tummy rumbling. I thought it was an earthquake.” You punched him lightly on the arm to which he responded with his signature smirk. “What about here?”

He showed a bakery a little forward. The both of you chose quickly and the waitress took your orders. You were still looking at the pastries in the window when she addressed Law: “We have tables for couple on first floor. It will be calmer.” “Thanks.” He simply answered before turning to your confused face. “What? You’re coming?” You nodded and followed him upstairs.

Law sat and looked around, waiting for your order to be brought. On your side, you watched him… It was the second time he implied you were a couple in the same afternoon. When he eventually looked at you, it was your turn to look around. He noticed and smirked silently, the waitress coming with your orders.

“Here. Ice teas. The tiramisu for…?”

“My boyfriend.”

Both the waitress and Law turned to you, surprised by your words. On the other hand, you were looking at him dead in the eyes; if you felt sure of yourself on the outside – which you highly doubted – you were freaking on the inside. The waitress giggled and left, with a low “thank you” from Law, that didn’t stop looking back at you.

He eventually unfreezed and let out a laugh.

“Hey, don’t laugh at me!”

“I’m not. I am not laughing at you. It’s just… Why?”

“I heard you at the book shop and that you didn’t correct her about us by a couple… So, I wanted to confirm something.” You took a sip of your drink, not seeing Law’s hand reaching for yours until he grabbed it.

“I wish your verification went well.” His thumb brushed the back of your hand, sending a shiver down your spine.

“It did.” You answered before intertwining your fingers with his.

Gwent was boring because Trent had no personality in TDI. I like to say that he got “female character-ed” meaning the only role he serves in the plot was to be Gwen’s love interest. When he did stuff in TDI, it was do stuff with Gwen or talk to other people regarding Gwen (with very few exceptions), otherwise he either was killed by a box of oranges or fell out of a plane.

Zoey isn’t boring in roti; she just wasn’t given enough time to develop.

This is gonna be LONG but I stalk ur blog now. I’ve read ur tags, and I’ve come back for more, Maria discussions, Maria headcanons, and Maria love… Jasper can come along too ig, only because he worshiped the ground she walked on. (His words not mine lol.) Anyways, it’s loving Maria hourz.

I wanna talk about the strikethrough because YES! Maria totally didn’t expect to develop feelings for Jasper down the line but she did. They ARE lovers! I don’t give a damn what Meyer says! I don’t care about all the “Mate” stuff because none of that holds up when you really look at what we are shown instead of told. Their actions portray that of two people who have love for each other and it’s so ridiculous to me that some ppl try so hard to deny that when it’s obvious. It’s honestly so much more realistic and interesting to have them be lovers, and damn what the deniers say! They’re just mad and uncomfortable bc they think Maria will be a threat to their ship but she’s just existing and minding her business lol. Maria deserves to have love and be loved. Latinas in general deserve to be love interests and not just “evil brown seductress”. *eye roll*.

They’re obviously into each other. It’s the only thing that explains their weakness for each other. They’re both known as people who are willing to kill anything that threatens them… except for each other lol.

They spent a few years paranoid around each other knowing they were “planning” to kill, and both parties could have easily done so… they never did the deed and now I lowkey believe they weren’t even that serious about it lol, they were both on edge and probably just trying to scare each other away bc they’re dumb and can’t handle their feelings.

Ppl claim Jasper left so quickly when Peter and Charlotte came back for him bc he was just so miserable and all that, but I think another reason Jasper left so quickly is because he really didn’t want to have to face the possibility of killing Maria and/or he simply couldn’t handle this new sour relationship with her when it was never like that between them before. They were each others closest companion. She’s the reason he stayed so long because he loved her, and being around her… her confidence, ambition, brightness, genius, vibes, and mind-blowing sex was his getaway from everything else and was his only source of goodness when they were both surrounded by war and destruction.

I highly doubt he would have stayed so long if Maria was just so mean, bitterly angry, disrespectful, and violent towards him the way some ppl try to characterize her. To me, logically speaking, Maria is and would have to be hella charming, charismatic, bubbly, hospitable/warm in a scarily insane way for her to have so many followers who are not only afraid of her but are also blindly devoted to her, especially when one of them is an emotion detecting/manipulating empath. If she’s this hugely manipulative person as they say why would she be ruthlessly angry and bitter towards everyone?? Why would anyone follow her?? She wouldn’t have been as successful with & without Jasper if she was just stone cold evil all the time. I think she breathes life into everything she does (even war and destruction lol) because that’s just who she is.

We later find out that Jasper was actually Relieved that he didn’t have to kill her. Imagine that lol. Peter suggested they go back and do so… Jasper said No. He just didn’t want revenge against her and vampires are like, known for revenge in their universe. Like what’s the explanation for Jasper:

1. Being so willing to protect Maria, even from himself.

2. Being relieved he didn’t have to kill her.

3. Rejecting his friend Peter’s suggestion to go back and kill her.

4. STILL not killing her later when she found him in Calgary and ultimately “forced” them to move (still don’t know how), theoretically putting his new family and Alice in danger… He was ready to kill Bella for the slightest hint of danger that she brought, but Maria??? No, she must be spared, she’s just a baby lol.

5. Still being kind/thoughtful enough to wish her well, even telling his friend Peter to relay that message to her if he sees her because it’s THAT important apparently and not just a passing thought to keep to himself…

A lot of ppl like to say Jasper was “saved from Maria”. But not only was Peter okay with Jasper’s rejection to killing her, he was also okay with him asking to tell her he wishes her well, even when they both knew how unlikely it was they’ll run into her. If Peter saved Jasper from Maria why are they so chill with her now? Why not actually go seek revenge? Peter saved Jasper from War and Destruction. Not Maria. Because Maria wasn’t really the core problem like some ppl make her out to be. It was their surroundings.

She’s lowkey still considered a friend. Jasper is so okay with her existence that he’s even thinking of seeing her again to ask for help. Like he’s such a big ass softie for her, even in times when you’d think he wouldn’t be and she’s not his lover??? Make it make sense please!!! Like I said, no man is doing ALL THAT for a woman he doesn’t love. If going to literal war for a woman for nearly a century isn’t enough evidence then this should be… That man loved her (and probably still does) and whoever disagrees is blind.

More: Ppl seem to believe that Maria didn’t care at all about Jasper and had no romantic feelings for him but she literally treats Jasper with the same caution and softness that he does. They’re BOTH weird asf when it comes to each other.

Maria is seen as this ruthless, unfeeling demon… but she had a whole family and a lover before, so obviously that means she’s capable of feeling love and she’s also loveable. Allegedly she’s an evil person who doesn’t care about anyone and will hunt you down and yet, not only did she let Peter and Charlotte go. She let Jasper go too. She put Jasper in charge and trusted him with things I’m sure she used to handle herself.

When Lucy & Nettie betrayed her, I think she became closer to Jasper considering he was the one who warned her and they took them out together. They protected each other on and off the battlefield. When their relationship soured she still couldn’t kill him even tho it was her army, she trained him, and it could have been done without much effort on her part… now if she was this evil unfeeling devil, she would have. But she didn’t. She’s a ruthless warlord who has killed for less, she didn’t trust him at the time and she believed that he was thinking of betrayal like Nettie & Lucy so she had a STRONG motive to get rid of him, and she just waits for a couple of years with only a hanging threat of killing him??? She didn’t really want to kill him and it shows. She didn’t wait that long to kill Lucy & Nettie lol. If she truly didn’t care about him she would have easily and quickly gotten rid of him at the first thought of betrayal. She wouldn’t have waited those few years and if he did manage to escape. She would have found him much sooner and killed him.

Speaking of finding him, why did she even care enough to look him up years later, and decide to visit anyway? (For the record: I don’t believe Maria initially came to kill or cause trouble bc why would she? If that’s the case she wouldn’t have come alone for a whole coven of vamps. She’s too smart and good at survival for that) If Maria is this uncaring person, why would she care enough about someone that is supposedly “disposable” to her??? Probably because he meant more to her than she’d care to admit. I can only imagine/headcanon how badly she was AT WAR with herself over that too. Especially considering how she previously lost her “mate”. I have so many headcanons about how she handled her feelings for Jasper when she finally realized and bbygirl was going thru it! Lol.

Because lbr, she may not have had strong feelings for him in the beginning but she definitely developed feelings for him after all that they went through together. That’s literally the only explanation for her actions with him. We are told she’s more ruthless/dangerous than Jasper yet she’s literally let him get away with so much and still thinks about him and she’s CONFLICTED about it! Which is gonna be yet ANOTHER conversation that I’m totally gonna return to your inbox for lol. I love angst, love, and complicated things between these dumbasses who clearly have unresolved feelings for each other. They are SO interesting and their story is so powerful. Like imagine what JasperxMariaxTherapy would look like. 😭

Speaking of finding him, why did she care enough to look him up years later, and decide to visit anyway? (For the record: I don’t believe Maria initially came to kill or cause trouble bc why would she? If that’s the case she wouldn’t have come alone for a whole coven of vamps. She’s too smart and good at survival for that)

first: let's acknowledge the fact that the Cullens weren't able to detect María until the last second & that a coven of seven with THREE (3) gifted vampires was too scared to take on one (1) María. QUEEN

second: María DEF wasn't there to harm them bc 1) wtf does María care about Canadian territory? 2) if the Cullens were her enemies they would already be dead.

she's there for Jasper. probably not to ask him for advice/help. she got by fine without him. María being María she's also not going to come to him like "i'm still in love with you."

that said, she IS a ride or die. if she thought Jasper was in exceptional danger she would warn him. the Volturi likely have their eye on María & (for other reasons) the Cullens, & she got wind of it. she was looking out for him, & maybe even hoping for better diplomatic relations Just In Case. even if the Cullens naïvely believed their happy little (powerful) family wasn't being watched, María knows better. she's careful, calculated, & she knows the Volturi will make trouble for the Cullens (& by extension her) in the future.

Jasper is also a ride or die. & him telling her to "keep her distance" is to protect HER. not him. not Alice. not the Cullens. bc he knows "keep your distance" as a threat/warning is pointless. girl will do whatever the hell she wants. but he also knows she put herself in a vulnerable position to find them. he knows if the Volturi weren't watching her then, they certainly are now that she has visited the up-and-coming Cullen coven. "keep your distance" is akin to him saying "take care of yourself."

this, & "tell her i wish her well," is the closest they will get to saying "i still love you."

but they don't have to say it. they already know.

my 'they're kind of cute, and i lowkey ship them, but i'm not too invested' ship: kurapika and melody. i think i mostly love them as friends but korapika deserves a polycule tbh

so it happened. i watched top gun: maverick again, and my God it’s just as good the second time around. because head empty only top gun brainrot, here are some of my thoughts which are basically all over the place:

the ending scene. jfc. i already had a slight discussion with a lovely tumblr user here because that ending scene was one of the best scenes i’d ever seen (pun intended lol) in quite some time. and that’s saying something bc the movie itself had tons of great scenes. apologies bc i’m gonna dissect the fuck out of this sequence. you’ve got penny and mav meeting up, with the score “penny returns” in the background. (and “penny returns” is really just a lovely orchestra rendition of “hold my hand”). there’s so much emotion from the audiences at this point: there’s happiness that the mission succeeded, hope that mav and penny have a happy ending, and even more happiness that mav and rooster have reconciled. and then lady gaga’s “hold my hand” comes in. it flows with “penny returns” as mav and penny get into mav’s plane (which i hear is tom cruise’s actual, personal plane??? to be expected ig from The Actor when it comes to realism lol anyway), and i bet for many people in the audience this visual only brings that sense of satisfaction with a tinge of nostalgia because it’s that scene in the movies, where the hero rides (or in this case flies) off into the sunset with his love interest. the strings in the orchestra (disclaimer that i’m not a music nerd) bring that specific emotion to a head, and then we get to rooster facing that locker with mav’s pictures. we focus on that picture, the one with goose and mav and wow the nostalgia’s really kicking in. rooster then knocks on that picture twice and God, it’s so many things. it’s closure for the past. it’s acknowledgement of the wisdom he gained from the present - learning to trust his instincts, to don’t think, just do. it’s resolve to move towards the future. it’s everything, all held together by one thought: i’ll make you proud, dad. there’s a beat of silence in the music, we’re given literally a second to absorb all that. and then the chorus soars as we focus on one final picture: mav and rooster after the mission. in the backdrop of lady gaga’s powerful vocals, the ending is breathtaking: it’s great because we’re given that layer after layer of emotional pay off that’s just right and doesn’t come off as too corny.  we’re given the perfect closure to what’s probably a perfect sequel (and perhaps, the perfect closure to every major player’s arc). if ever i’d go and see the movie a third time, just getting to watch that final scene again would be completely worth the trip and the money. 

this may just be me lowkey fangirling about the score now but that scene where hangman tells rooster to give ‘em hell always gets me for a couple reasons. one of them is the fact that right before they meet, you see the tension in rooster’s walk. you hear it in the score as those short, tense notes (again, not a music nerd so do feel free to correct me!) and then we get to hangman. because this is probably their first interaction right after mav announces rooster as his wingman, it’d be fair for us to expect any type of negative reaction from hangman. but then he says “give ‘em hell”, and the music swells. it becomes larger, fuller: it aids in making this feel like a big scene for them despite lasting only a couple seconds because this is where the secondary protagonist and his antagonist (for lack of a better term) start to see eye to eye. i remember listening to the track (You’re Where You Belong/Give ‘Em Hell) and repeating those couple of seconds over and over again bc i could see the scene in my mind’s eye bc despite being a subtle scene it was just so good. (from a shipping viewpoint it was just a whole yep they have a Thing scene for me so really thank u to hans zimmer for confirming hangster lol)

 speaking of hangman, just how much has he changed this entire movie??? i’ve lowkey spoken about it at length here but seriously, watching it a second time just makes you realize how much the story would’ve changed if hangman never existed. there are a couple plot points but the one that comes to mind right now is the whole love interest shebang. right so at this point we all know that way back then, phoenix was supposed to be the canon love interest for rooster. and honestly? completely fine with me. would’ve been nice ofc if they didn’t make the only lady in the main squad a love interest but then again there’s the whole “a good strong female character shouldn’t be deprived of love” which i also agree with but. i digress. the point is it would’ve been fine as long as the writing was good. the fact that they scrapped the canon love interest plot point entirely and simply maintained phoenix and rooster as really good friends (with a very plausible romantic future if we go down the rooster/phoenix hole)....was this because of hangman? did he singlehandedly change the love interest route too? did the filmmakers and editors and hell, even the actors realize that ya know what? why not. let’s honor the first top gun and make things a little ~ fruity ~. this is basically me just having fun but imagine if miles and glen were all “mmkay u know that bar scene we have together? yeah i’ll be all coy and do the whole lip bite thing while eye fucking u as i say my line" “for sure for sure and i’ll just be sneaking a look at ur lips while ur talking and we’ll let the audience decipher whatever the fuck our characters have going on”

top gun really has a history of having the weirdest sex scenes huh

the beach scene. ah yes. the scene that singlehandedly changed my life. yeah yeah it’s an homage to the original beach volleyball scene but just like its predecessor, it’s gratuitous fan service in the form of an eye candy-fest. but hey, it works. it’s team building, even if that team building involves an unforgettable dancing rooster. so no. it's no longer enough for me to watch top gun multiple times. i HAVE to be in the beach scene watching them all work up a sweat. HAHA. but for real, it’s a great scene because i always love me a good team bonding scene. and you just get to see these characters and even the actors behind them having so much fun with each other. the gorgeous sunlight/filter really helps set the mood of summer too. if anything, it probably pulls up memories for a lot of movie goers about their own fun times in the sand: just playing with their buddies and, maybe just for a couple days or a couple hours, not worrying about responsibilities or in this case, the weight world peace on their shoulders. back to the movie though, the cast already has great chemistry. so to see it play out on screen in the form of faux competitiveness and just a general all around great time....that scene has my heart.

MAV AND ROOSTER. seriously can’t get enough of their interactions. even though mav is older and supposedly wiser, it feels like rooster is the adult holding the brain cell whenever they’re together. case in point: when they were about to steal the f-14 before the final dogfight. mav heads off to check out the f-14 and rooster’s all mav no but eventually he says ok in the most resigned, we’ve-already-almost-died-once-so-fuck-it-what’s-a-second-go, mom-friend voice you could possibly hear. 11/10 would not be surprised if bradley bradshaw is the actual mom friend of a group, no matter how carefree he seems to appear. kinda makes you wonder too about how all their interactions pre-pulled-out-papers were. willing to bet it’s that meme with a dude struggling with two dogs on a leash going in separate directions but it’s rooster as the dude and both the dogs as mav.

speaking of rooster, now that i’ve thought about it more, i’d love to see more of miles teller as rooster. the role fit him like a glove. i remember that one twitter post criticizing miles as a top contender for rooster (back when glen was a top contender for rooster too so really, funny how things work out) and now it’s crazy to imagine anyone else. he played rooster with all of goose’s sass, all of carole’s frankness, and put a lil bit of his own swagger in the role. and his chemistry with everyone is just. so. good. literally with everyone from mav to hangman to phoenix, it’s just been an absolute pleasure watching him on screen. (that electric tension with glen’s hangman though...whew. they knew what they were doing they KNEW.) and i guess that’s one of the reasons too why the ending hit me so much: bc it’s him being our movie’s “ending fairy” and i can’t accept that we’re not getting a minute more of canon rooster content beyond the 2 hr 10 minute runtime of TG:M.

speaking of the ending (bc i clearly can’t get enough of it), i think one of the reasons why it’s good is because it also deals with passing on the torch. these young aviators (with special mention for rooster) are the inheritors of mav’s spiritual position - that role of crazy, daring fighter pilot who would dive below the hard deck just to take the shot. of course, there’s no replacing mav. however, as the film decides with its ending, he’ll always be there but he doesn’t have to always be there. everything he’s left them would be enough to push that legacy forward, in-universe at least. but out of universe??? ehhhhhh.....

.....on a potential top gun 3.....hmmmm. at this point i’d for sure love to see more of the history and chemistry between the young bloods. the community of elite naval aviators graduating from one of the most prestigious programs on the planet is probably a small one, so everyone definitely knows everyone (’cept for bob, poor baby :( ).  while i’d love for that to be explored, i also feel like it’d be too much of a good thing. it could even go the other end of the spectrum and fall into the trap of becoming another tired franchise. plus, the movie already ended things so well that unless we had a really, really good script, i don’t think we should disturb the sanctity of top gun’s brilliant ending. can a top gun movie be carried on the shoulders of rooster, hangman, phoenix, and the rest? maybe. completely without maverick? that’s a much trickier question. for now, i’m satisfied with what we have, but a sequel isn’t something i’d hate. a top gun 4 though? ehhhhh, maybe 3′s enough.

Ok so? Chemistry? Decent potential there. Healthy, interesting dynamic? Def there. Can u have an arc about internalised homophobia, like byler? Def, on both sides. Can Lucas deserve Will & be an unwavering good friend worst case scenario? Ya

Okok now let’s go into the specifics

Ok because Will’s character/whole arc is about healing through trauma & accepting change/letting go, and self-discovery too ig, while Lucas’ is like, accepting himself and strenghtening his identity and convictions and stuff... Lucas can be Will’s constant and support while Will is Lucas’ moral compass and his anchor, his reminder that being different isn’t something to repress, but most of all, a reminder of who he used to be as a kid when he allowed himself to just be.

I’m a elmax shipper so Max isn’t an obstacle to me, and if she is that can be good angst/character arc material there. Like! Ya want parallels? I’ll dish ya parallels of Will letting his love for Mike go & Lucas accepting that him and Max aren’t good for each other romantically

Dynamic? Ok they actually mesh soooo well, like think about it. [Skip the whole paragraph if u don’t want my take on other Will ships, no bashing i just find them boring srry, idk i like comparing ships when explaining my like of one in particular, it just clicks to me. I’m aware this paragraph might turn ppl away but I just wanna share thoughts :( ] Will shipped with any of the other kids is kinda milktoast. Mike? Cute/emotional symbolism and narrative but tbh not much substance /chemistry in practice (imo, no bashing intended), Will likes Mike’s kindness and idealism but them dating would kinda just be Will being cute about liking Mike and them holding hands and doing things together ig but,,, talking? Idk how one would write byler dialogue tbh it feels like kinda just prose, mostly bc that’s what it’s meant to be in canon i think- like, a narrative instead of a ship. ANYWAYS I GOT SIDETRACKED. Will with Dustin? Twilight Sparkle x Pinkie Pie energy which is cute, but again if u dig deeper there’s not much to exploit besides aesthetics. They could banter and Dustin would crash Will’s dnd games and they could have cute wild & free spirit x prissy rigid thinking soft artist imagery & interactions but like,, they wouldn’t really bring anything to the relationship, esp not something that their friendship doesn’t already give. Will with Eleven? Well, sibling dynamic now, but they’d always kinda just have been the 2 misfits having an understated soft romance n being sidelined lowkey. They could hurt/comfort but bot much else, and again this is smth that a friendship does already, and better i think. Will with Max? This one is actually kinda interesting to consider, esp if u think about them both having upside down personal haunting trauma, but that’s mostly bc Max & Lucas are similar in personality/character anyways, which is one of the reasons the lumax ship kinda fails at being interesting and endearing (to me).

But Will with Lucas? It fits so well.

It’s the "we’ve been friends for years but we’ve kinda grown distant lately, but even now when we don’t hang out much and spirits of the past are haunting us, I can see your pain while no one else does". It’s "I understand how you’re hurting because you want to fit in, because I wish I could, too". It’s "we’re both kinda getting sidelined from our friend groups, aren’t we, and we’re both not fitting in with the others quite like we did before, and we don’t play d&d together much anymore, really, and we’re lonely and stuff but we see each other and idk, i find it easy to click with you, like I always have. Wanna go grab an ice cream?"

It’s the best of every world!! Fluff?? Very doable! Angst? Soo easy! Poetic hurt/comfort inner monologue, my beloved? Super tonally compelling. Platonic instead of romantic? Also such untapped potential, but the relationship being of a romantic nature does bring something to the table!

Logical yet bold Lucas. Soft yet driven Will. Lucas being there to comfort Will unconditionally, but also being able to confidently tell him, when he’s having self-doubts, that it’s all bs. Lucas reassuring him that heartache isn’t the end of the world when he notices his love for Mike, ever observant, then Will doing the same for him when he goes through his last breakup with Max, and a connection forming from there. Them just hanging out, alone the two of them for whatever reason, because everyone else has a lover, or they just feel like it, and they hang out and talk and chill. Will and Lucas having one on one d&d sessions!! Because the others aren’t available for Will’s schedule and wants, and Lucas misses it, and also he’s always loved the ingenious creativity of Will’s campaign ideas and the passion with which he roleplays. Lucas, the out of place jock, and Will, the bullied misfit. Gimme the AUs!! Gimme the slow burns!! Gimme the secret pining narratives!! Everything would be SO good

Ok hot take but not really, but I was lowkey pissed at how the season just, doesn’t talk about Lucas and sports at all? The show kinda implies that he joined the basketball team and everything just for the brownie points with the popular crowd, to be accepted and all, but does Lucas just not care about the sport?? Does he not like basketball?? Is he naturally gifted to have landed that winning score or did he spend many hours desperately training to have a chance of popular kids accepting him? We don’t know!! Why don’t we know when that’s like, such an obvious loose thread?! I always kinda just thought that he, y’know, wanted to do basketball on the basketball team but the way it’s all done and how Lucas says something like "I should never have joined the team bc they suck and i have u guys" in the last ep, I was like?? So was the basketball just an extra to making the team or? To be clear, there’s nothing wrong with that narrative, it’s actually really compelling. But the thing is that the show doesn’t address it at all, it kinda implies it but doesn’t state anything or does anything with it so it kinda just dies a no closure death and feels off and ruins the potential when all the cards right for it was laid out Actually that last criticism is a common flaw i’ve found throughout the season tbh. ANYWAYS where i was gonna go with that is, Lucas teaching Will how to play basketball and do scores and them playing ball together, even if Will is clumsy and shy/reluctant about trying sports <3 Lucas chilling on Will’s bed head on his laps, prob listening to music or audiobook or thinking about life as Will draws. And when Will wants to show Lucas his drawings, Lucas immediately shifts his focus on it and is genuinely invested in them and loves it, and it rekindles his love for fantasy and d&d that he thought he had lost. And maybe Will allows Lucas to be soft, after all. With Max, he wanted to be though and worthy, to prove he could be the best boyfriend, that he shouldn’t be dumped, that he was as cool as her and that her brother shouldn’t have seen him as someone she shouldn’t hang out with. With the rest of the gang, he has to be smart and bring something to the conversation, keep them safe, be useful, offer reasons for why he wants to do some new things instead of playing d&d with them, why he hangs out with them less lately because of inner turmoil he doesn’t wanna share, the insecurities of having to be more mature, more adult, more responsible and irreproachable, and of needing to conform to be accepted where you think it matters. To keep appearances up, to have it both ways and overlook shady behavior of your new pals until they threaten your real, old ones who you debate on ratting out or saving them at the cost of your safety and status. And now when you look at all of them, you can only hope they’re ready to forgive and forget the time you ditched them for assholes and had to be pushed to the brink to go back to their side fully, hope that you can one day forgive yourself. Hope that Max can love you, and that maybe this time you’ll feel whole when you convince her to get back together with you, because you dedicate all you have to her and if she doesn’t want that then maybe you can never be enough for anything. He has so much to prove.

But with Will? Ya, he can chill with Will. Doesn’t mean angst disappears, it just means that he feels less pressure and in a way, they’ve seen the worst lows of each other in a way that feels liberating, instead of putting standards and expectations on their shoulders. And maybe Lucas can let himself be a dork, if Will is there being the hugest dork of them all and is still so lovable and amazing and thriving. And as Will rambles about his new convoluted worldbuilding and campaign ideas to Lucas, Lucas entertains the visions of fantastic grandiosity and dragons and heroes saving the world with the power of goodness. And he loves what he sees, what he says, and he loves the voice, and he loves the way he rambles and talks about it all with such a spark, passion that Lucas himself had become to think was impossible to muster for anything anymore, and he loves him, and maybe that means he can bring himself to love himself, and love life. And they chill in Will’s room, and life is good and sweet and they’ve both found someone they can truly, fully enjoy being in love with.

apparently in the description of the legion comic issue 4. it says that Susie had a crush, and I am hoping that it's not one of the legion members (espically Julie or Frank). (if Julie ends up being that crush I will be very upset and a little happy at the same time because I relate to Susie a lot and I view her to be a sapphic so seeing her canonically be a sapphic makes me very happy but if her crush ends up being Julie it'll make me very upset because I never liked "the gay person has a crush on their best friend but it's clearly obvious that it's one-sided" because it reminds me of the time I had a crush on my best friend and it was so painfully to me that those feelings I had for her will never be returned the same way I liked her so seeing a character who brings me lots of comfort going through something similar to what I went through makes me sad) (if Frank ends up being her crush then I will be very disappointed because I don't like the idea of it and I view them to have a sibling like relationship so yeah). i highly dought her crush is joey because there was nothing that implied Susie and joey hang out together (you know without Frank and Julie) unless we get to see the two interact with each other alone but overall i just hope it's a new character we get to see in the comics because that would sound way more interesting.

They did cause some trouble together in Julie's Tome as well (causing those car accidents together n shit), so who knows! We still don't know as much about them as Frank and Julie, so I don't wanna assume anything quite yet, so for all we know they could be really close considering they most likely knew each other pre-Frank. Also they'd defo be/get close if they're both in The Legion together. Julie would be interesting as well if they play their cards right, but it'd defo end in a one-sided crush since Julie's with Frank, and I just don't think it'd fit well within their story. I personally HC that Susie had a small crush on her growing up, but it never led to anything (obv) and fizzled after a while, which Susie never really minded. What I'm most curious about, though, is whether or not it'll be Pre or Post Fog? Considering its mentioning a first kill, I'm assuming Post Fog, since their first kill was the janitor (unless they retcon this, which I'm PRAYING they don't, which I'll discuss another time). So this could very well lean into a Survivor being involved or somethin, which I'm also not really keen on, since idklkjfdskjfds I'm just not a big fan of the idea of Killers falling in love with Survivors and vice versa, its just not for me. Somewhat befriending in an obscure way, sure, but not anything more than that. So unless this happens Pre Fog, which I wouldn't mind whatsoever, I'm just leaning towards Joey at this point, since I fee like he'd probably be the best choice here.

like dont get me wrong its lowkey terrible but like???? that's like the bulk of the appeal. put these two fuckers in a room together and tell them they have to hug and watch the chaos ensue as they try to get out by doing anything but that. basically you cant give me two characters that kiss up to/crave the attention of the same guy and NOT expect me to imagine them working together

i definitely dont like it in a romantic sense or even really a platonic sense, but in a, like, idk common goal sense??? does that mean anything. like i want them to be put in a setting where they're forced to work out their differences and cooperate. i think that would be an interesting look at their personalities. affogato is already sympathetic in most of his goals (he's still a shitty person tho, especially having voluntarily joined up with DE's gang) and i feel like if they were forced to work together, caramel arrow might take some sort of pity on him and understand what he's feeling???? idk i want to treat them like two little gerbils and put them in the same enclosure together ig. my thoughts on them are so complicated that even i cant figure them out.

1. LOOK LOOK LOOK. STARDUST CRUSADERS IS THE BEST PART IN MY HUMBLE OPINION. the team dynamic, the characters, the relationships, the VILLAINS, the fights, FUCKINF DIOOO it's literally so good. dude i literally rushed through the anime in like 4 days it was sooo exciting. i know many people criticise part 3 for its repetitiveness but to be honest, i didn't feel like it was repetitive at all, i found it really entertaining and wasn't bored for a single episode. the last fight is inarguably the most iconic jojo fight ever and IT DESERVES THAT PLACE. sc is so fucking good i could talk about it all day long but i don't wanna pick apart every single thing rn 💀 all i wanna say is that we're never going to get another part that feels like stardust crusaders. i watched it in like the middle of march and it's already nostalgic to me 😭 there's just this immediate connection that i formed with the characters that made their deaths even sadder for me

2. golden wind. the team dynamic is really good too in this part. tbh for golden wind i'll talk about anime only because i didn't like the manga as much as the anime, and the main reason for that is that the anime adds a lot more to the characters backstories and relationships imo. do you fucking know how shocked i was when i found out that fugo's backstory and that scene of bucciarati and abbacchio meeting isn't manga canon. like wtf?? also the relationship between trish and bucciarati which literally makes me want to violently throw up and cry myself to sleep is shown way better in the anime. giorno as a jojo isn't exactly my favorite tbh, but the side cast balances it out, they're all very interesting characters. also this part really established the fucking ass pull stands that araki made up they're so funny. cioccolata's stand for example, or melone's like how the fuck do you come up with that. oh since we're talking about the villians, i liked la squadra, they were cool but a bit underused (is that even a word??). it would've been sick as fuck if la squadra and team bucciarati would have collaborated, they basically had the same goal of finding out diavolo's real identity. diavolo is bad villain imo, i already explained why in the last ask. changing the topic real quick i also find it cool how you can see how in this part araki made like, a bigger deal out of the whole fashion thing, i love the character design in gw. also fighting gold is the best jojo op
