book runs based on tv shows are usually mediocre at best, like star trek, torchwood, doctor who, etc etc, but i would give anything to get a book run of the BBC Ghosts hotel i need to know what shenanigans those guys get up to in there
#bbc ghosts#bbc ghosts spoilers#six idiots#i think a hotel would be so fun for them#like enrichment#absolutely nothing that happens in there matters in the slightest but they all care so much about everything so really#the weight of any hypothetical plot does not matter#a short story series for example would be great#give me 5 pages of the captain deriding robin about the mouse family he follows and then stalking off to go watch his ants#give me 20 pages of fanny and julian watching something unsavoury going down in one of the rooms only to discover they were wrong#and actually what's happening is totally innocent#give me 15 pages of julian battling for TV remote control with a guest who can't figure out why the remote is malfunctioning#give me fanny accidentally getting in a teenager's selfie and the teen facetiming with her friends about the haunted room she's stuck in#while her parents are on this dumb golf trip#and kitty is jealous that fanny is getting all the attention because this is supposed to be girls night with the teens she's decided#captain and julian watching golfers out on the green#thomas cooing over a blossoming romance and subsequent breakup like its his new personal soap opera#pat sitting in on games out on the lawn and getting way too into it prompting julian to start making bets with him on lawn darts#fanny snooping in guests' luggage and being scandalized by perfectly normal things she considers risque#give a book deal to ben and larry they'd have a ball with it i just know it

There's some dude (derogatory) on FB who is PISSED people are pricing their farm fresh eggs at $2 and $3 a dozen instead of $4+, saying it's "disrespectful" and "undignified" and "I'm trying to feed my kids" like Sir, you are on a Facebook group page bitching about your neighbors egg prices because your pet chickens aren't earning you a living wage and you think it's your neighbors' fault, you do not have a leg to stand on here wrt dignity.
Also half the answers are like "I give them to friends and family free" or "I donate them to food banks" or "I'm making them affordable to folks who might not otherwise be able to get them now that they're so expensive in the store" and "if you think you're going to turn a profit keeping backyard chickens you have been wildly misled" and so on, and so forth, and I'm so living for it.
and I can tell you right now, he did NOT like my answer of "if you're trying to feed your kids, I hear eggs are edible."
#chickens#like buddy you are never going to actually make a profit#and if by some miracle you do#it's going to be VERY SMALL#Considering the money you put into building or buying a coop#plus feed and bedding and equipment (waterers feeders perches etc) costs#egg cartons and enrichment and gas to go get the feed#the cost you (personally) probably put into building the egg stand you mentioned#a 50lbs bag of feed will feed 12 adult chickens for 8 days#12 chickens generally lay 6-12 eggs per day#usually less in the fall and may even stop in winter#a 50lb bag of feed is usually $12-15#and you wasted the first 6 months going eggless until they were old enough to lay#and that doesn't factor in oyster shell or anything else you may need to do for them#like worming or treating for coccidia or anything#and doesn't take into account your time#like asjh;dsfkgdh you really thought you were gonna make a buck doing this???#wank for ts

I am BARELY resisting going full red-strings-corkboard on this season. And by barely resisting I mean not resisting at all here is an extremely long list of the events those pins would be marking out.
BigB getting a Task that was a different color than everyone else's. It's not just a randomly assigned Hard Task, bc Scar rerolled for a Hard Task and his was also just a white envelope. It's fundamentally different.
That task taking BigB away from socialization, and seemingly being an incredibly time-consuming and dull request. Of profound disinterest to any watchers.
The phrasing of his Task!!
Dig a big hole. All the way down. At least 3x3. Make it your base if you want.
Everyone else's are direct and formal - the only one with more than one sentence was Skizz's, with the rule clarification of "One attempt only." Bigb's Task is four short abrupt sentences. It is also the only Task to contain extraneous information, 'Make it your base if you want.' The requirements (at least 3x3) feel like an afterthought to mimic the numerical/specific demands of the other tasks.
Evo symbol on the face of the Secret Keeper statue.
The fact that there's a statue at all; the fact that there is a physical representation of what is assigning tasks that everyone must complete, when previously everything was always handled via commands and unseen RNG.
Grian talking to the statue, and (bc of his Actual Role as game organizer) acting as a mediator for the impartial decisions handed down, speaking for it.
Grian making one last bad joke and saying he doesn't know if it counted or not- depends on whether we the audience laughed.
Grian asking for task recommendations from the audience. The watchers are making the tasks. The Watchers are making the tasks.
Again I could be off-base, and I'm not usually even that smitten with bringing in Evo lore. I don't want a Big Bad really...but. It feels like something very unusual and intentional and cool is happening in this series. And I'd guess we'll know if theres something going on once we have more than one data point.
My largely unfounded suspicion is that there is another being (maybe Listeners, maybe something else) trying to reach out to the Players via decoy Tasks, and BigB was the first recipient. Get them alone, make them of disinterest to the watchers, and tell them something we don't get to know.
Because that's the really, really fucking cool part (if my wacky theory is remotely right): We're the bad guys. We're the ones giving out tasks - hell, we're the ones actively brainstorming harder and crueller tasks in Grian's comments!
If they actually made a story where the Players have to keep secrets from us I will be delighted. Bc that is the same genius bullshit that made Evo Watcher lore so fun

ill be honest as much as i love to criticise the use of fatphobia for comedy ill never be able to hold the fatphobic jokes in kung fu panda against it
like yea those movies are guilty of dipping into The Usual Tropes for a cheap laugh but not only is the character writing for the fat characters the strongest and most sympathetic ive Ever seen literally just the character designs of the pandas in the 3rd movie get me choked up sometimes. theyre all so appealing and clearly treated with the same care and attention as everyone else without copping out and making them Barely Fat. po is already a size that doesnt exist in film protags and hes still the thinnest person in that whole village and that meant a lot to me
#i havent seen the movies in ages but the design of the ribbon dancer is sooo . AUGH#like not just to have that many fat characters but have them be REALLY fat without being treated as ugly or nasty#OR THEIR FATNESS BEING TEMPORARY !!! its their natural state thats how theyre meant to look!!!!#its easy to get caught in the thinking of like. having fat characters be a minority in a lineup to reflect 'real life'#EVEN THO that isnt always true but regardless#having a cast where the nonfat characters are so few and far between theyre hardly present at all. so fucking enriching 2 me#imo writing-wise the third one is by far the weakest but it still is just so important to me that they designed the pandas like that#can i kfp post on main is that allowed#idk i watched a video essay im emotional abt this again

...and both categories manage to be a poignant statement about the nature of war and what it does to the people in it.
#everyone always talks about the more dramatic bits of rvb with the speeches and the 8+ seasons of plot development as the anti-war part#but the comedicization of the violence and death that the characters go through. the tongue-in-cheek gung-ho attitudes.#the way that they're so desensitized to the idea of death or gruesome injury to the point that it's!!! a comedy show!!!#all of that is just as much a statement of the fucked up nature of war!!!#it's like Col. I do find it funny that when people find out about my giant minecraft pits they immediately suggest things that would remove digging from the equation when like, the digging is the point. It's not even about having a big hole at the end, I'm doing this bcs I find digging fun. People are just genuinely shocked by that and I will never not be amused and slightly baffled that it's so hard to believe I enjoy removing the blocks by hand. Like do you really think I'd be doing this in the first place if I didn't like digging? Come on.
