Xiao Li Cheng: "I could pick any of the HIStory men because they all have that bisexual swag, but it's Li Cheng's commitment to his bisexuality that makes him the winner among his fellow HIStorians. Li Cheng had been in love with a former classmate, and when she started working with him, he convinced his best friend to be in a fake relationship. Why Mu Ren agreed is also why I nominated Li Cheng - the swag! Mu Ren put up the smallest fight because it's hard to tell Li Cheng no when he looks like a god, but while Li Cheng was trying to get the girl, Mu Ren was falling slowly in love. YET Li Cheng was the one to confess first by licking Mu Ren's mouth! Li Cheng was insane for that move, but he made sure to do his homework. He confided in his gay roommate. He asked his other gay friend who was in a long-term relationship. He told the girl he was originally after. This was a team effort, but Li Cheng put in the work to know how he felt before putting his whole being into confessing to Mu Ren, and that's why he has the best bisexual swag. Li Cheng could get anyone, but he wanted his best friend. The swag didn't come natural. He had to study. He had to ask questions. He had to figure it out, but a bisexual who makes the effort is the bisexual who gets the cookie."

I have also been avoiding watching H4 Close to you because of all the blazing trigger warnings about the show. But I saw a little bit and it looks intriguing??? I don't know I am so confused, but I like Vegas Pete. So I wonder what can be more toxic than that?

OMG.. I don't know what to tell you.

But for sure the questionable couple is nothing like Vegas Pete. It's more dark I guess. I'll not spoil in case you decide to watch it, but know that KP was a mafia show, some morally grey stuff is given in that kind of stories. So Vegas Pete are taken in that context.

But youngjie and xingsi will prick you like a thorn in a bouquet of roses and make you bleed. It's uhhhh not at all pretty.

It's two opposite stories going parallel. (Imagine that pic of a pink house and black house making rounds on the internet)

Li Cheng and Mu Ren are the typical straight dudes best friends gay only for you kind of couple. They have everything going correct for them. You get to see consent, healthy jealousy, public claiming and really cute dates etc.

Youngjie and Xingsi are step brothers not blood related. Youngjie is obsessed with Xingsi. He is twisted in his head, the only purpose he has is to make Xingsi his. It's not even love and he is aware of it. He has no remorse whatsoever he owns up to every fucking thing he does without any sign of guilt. (Sexual assault is involved in their story)

Story wise they never tried to show any growth in any of them especially Youngjie.

All 4 are the exact same when they started as to when the show ended. And a lot changes between their dynamics and relationships with each other. It's the story of how they adapt themselves to new circumstances which happen in their lives.

It's really fun to watch that story being told the way it is told.

But because I am a kind of a person when I see a questionable and morally gray character, my first thought is not how can I fix them or why are they like this, but it's to see if they can be accepted by someone for who they are and will that make them realise or change or feel loved ? And Xingsi and Youngjie as a couple delivered on that.

And now I think of it, that's the only similarity between Vegas Pete and Youngjie/Xingsi that they just accept each other with all the flaws.

And the one you think who is a good boy is also just really fucked up too.

The other similarity is both these couples got the best intimate scenes I have ever watched in a BL. Youngjie/Xingsi actually wins this round by a couple of points there. (If nothing just watch the scene where Xingsi teaches Youngjie how to sweet talk or the library kiss).

Sorry this answer got too long, you might think that I am advocating watching it, but be warned I am not. Only go for it fully knowing it's not for everyone, if you can digest that then I guarantee it will be a fun ride.

I love the idea that everything (positive) that Lila lies about somehow comes true for Marinette.

Lila lies about having connections to the queen of England? Suddenly, Marinette is getting regular commissions from the queen herself and forms quite the acquaintance-ship w the royal family.

Lila "is practically family" to an Italian mafia? Marinettes grandmother has quite an eccentric background, and through her, Marinette somehow manages to get a local Italian Mafia to pseudo-adopt her. (Only because she refused to actually be adopted, much to their disappointment)

Lila "went on tour" with Jagged Stone? Guess who wants his favorite designer to accompany him for his U.S. tour during the summer?

Oh, Lila says she acted in a movie for Graham de Vanily Films? Guess who ends up accidentally staring in a Graham de Vanily film?

I just want all the positive things that Lila lies about to happen to Marinette, who is sufficiently surprised every time (you'd think she'd be used to it by now), meanwhile, in the background, Lila gets progressively more pissed.

And the worst part? Every time she tries to upstage Marinette with something even bigger and grander than Marrinettes' own accomplishments? No matter how ridiculous, Marinette somehow ends up stumbling upon That. Exact. Opportunity.

It's incredibly frustrating.

You could say Marinette has some miraculous luck, despite how adamantly Tikki denies any involvement in these increasingly ridiculous turns of events.

All in all; Lila is frustrated, Marinette is frustrated, and Tikki is very amused (as are Adrien and Plagg, who watch this shit-show from the background).
