The Worst Decision

The worst decision in American history was made yesterday. Roe v Wade has been overturned. Reproductive rights for women are all but gone and the Supreme Court won’t stop there. They’re going to target contraceptives, gay rights/marriage, and even interracial marriage next. America is heading down a dark path and I greatly fear for its future.

As an African-American woman, I am fully aware of what this decision means for my community.

This means that poor women (especially women of color) who don’t have access to or knowledge of contraceptives will be forced to have children they can’t afford which will lead to impoverished homes or even child abandonment. This is assuming that the Supreme Court will likely get rid of Safe Haven laws too.

Women who are victims of abuse or SA will be forced to have children who will remind them of their trauma which will lead to a terrible cycle of abuse and neglect or even worse. This is especially bad if the child is a product of incest since interfamily abuse is quite common in the black community and the abusers are always protected and treated like royalty.

Women will resort to illegal abortions which can lead to infertility or death. Or they’ll end up committing suicide while pregnant or straight up committing infanticide once the baby is born.

This is a horrible setback for America and I weep for my fellow women who are affected by this. Unfortunately I live in one of the states with trigger laws (Tennessee) so this affects me as well.

Godspeed America. Get ready to burn because the riots and protests will definitely be coming and it’s well deserved. We need to take control of this country and make it ours again. This will not stop us and we will rise up against this tyranny.

So my roommate is also into One Piece. I’m not sure if he’s watched any of the anime, I know for sure he’s watched the live action, but earlier tonight he came upstairs and watched a few episodes with me while waiting for a food delivery, and then he got hooked, and then he sat and watched MORE episodes with me without really knowing what was going on. But it was still wildly entertaining to him, esp since I’m right in the middle of one of the (arguably) best arcs rn, and now he wants to finish the arc with me LOL. NOBODY is immune to One Piece propaganda. Or Bon-chan 🥰

It was a bone-headed move on ABC's part to 1) stir up a ship war to increase engagement

2) advertise the next episode almost exclusively with clips and content from one ship

3) admit at the 11th hour that the clips used to advertise the episode for 3 weeks most likely got cut

But I suspect that's all it is. The folks who put together advertising for the show don't always communicate super well with the people making the show, especially when episodes are being cut as the show is airing. And the people advertising are going to give the audience whatever creates the most engagement. The same thing happened with Succession s4 - a ton of scenes used in previews ended up on the cutting room floor. At the time, the misleading promos really tainted the viewing experience for me but looking back, it was still a phenomenal season that people bts worked really hard on. I know each episode of Succession had like 2 - 2.5 hours of footage that had to be cut to an hour.

Networks aren't trustworthy and, sure, it's possible that they're baiting us with Buddie for ratings. But I think we should view the episode before deciding that. There may still be a lot of great Buddie content in it. And, obviously, the Madney wedding itself (which, lbr, they should have advertised more) is going to be spectacular. I get that it's annoying but people aren't perfect and poor logistics happen.

I like just found out this week that ppl think ofmd fandom is particularly annoying but honestly every time a fandom breaks containment ppl make a big deal about how annoying they are 🙄🙄🙄 this is just what fandom looks like. A bunch of ppl being super enthusiastic about something.

#Aren’t there professional sports fandoms that like #Routinely start riots and throw things at players from the stands?#And do domestic violence because their team lost??#Maybe let’s relax about how super annoying it is for people to be excited about something that makes them happy #Or even for people to argue and get worked up about their vision of this piece of fiction and how their interpretation is the best #This is just what people do when they care a lot #And yes people caring a lot about something you’re not interested in is boring and can be irritating but like #It’s just part of life get over it 🤷🏽‍♂️
