Buck has a pink stain over his heart. I wonder whether that points to his having relatively innocent intentions regardless of whatever goes down. The color also matches Eddie's outfit, which can't be a coincidence. Really curious to see what goes down in this hour of TV.

A show can still queerbait even if there are canon queer characters on it (SPN comes to mind). And I don't think the tags you quoted are entitled, I think they're very true. If a man and a woman stand next to each other on TV, it's a sign they'll get together because it reinforces heteronormativity. But two same sex characters can basically raise a kid together and they're still just bffs and the possibility isn't even considered.

I think it's fine if people want to leave because Buddie doesn't happen, particularly if 911 tries to sell Tommy as Buck's forever love after 5 minutes on the show. No one is saying they're going to send angry tweets to Tim Minear, just that they're going to stop watching something that no longer interests them, which is fine.

It's just a show. People can react however they want as long as they're not hurting real people.

this show isn't queerbaiting you. there are multiple CANONICAL fulfilling queer relationships on the show, multiple important queer characters and

i need you to understand that you are not entitled to canon!buddie just because people have written some stunning fanfic of eddie and buck being brilliant together

it's like everyone on the show has said: if the showcreators decide to go that way, it can happen. but currently, there is no slowburn buildup here.

Been thinking about this but what if Buck has been monetarily preparing as Chris' guardian, he has a fund prepped and is saving up? Because he is the one person who doesn't have family expenses overtly shown but also has this responsibility fully in his mind. And what if THIS reveal is how Buddie actually talk about the Will again? Or maybe this is how others find out that Buck is Chris' guardian??

tbh Buck putting money aside in case shit hits the fan just in general, but also including the possibility of having to take in Christopher (though he would probably also get Eddie's assets until Chris turns 18 or something along those lines) for me that sounds so logical, it might as well be canon as is.

I don't know if that's a direction the show would go with the convo, but maybe? it could be a quite organic way to go there and I still can't find the interview (though I think it was one of the ones they gave together with Oliver) but Ryan actually brought the will up when talking about buddie, so he does think about it — now if it's because he, as an actor keeps this in the forefront of his mind or because the show is finally circling back to that storyline I don't know, but I would love to revisit it for sure!

In my eyes, the reason Buck and Eddie’s dynamic work so well is because Buck has been searching his whole life for someone to hold him whereas Eddie yearns for confirmation that he’s able to hold someone without them crumbling beneath his touch

they’re trying to TRICK US releasing all these promos and stills of the bachelor party and almost nothing else really. it’s kinda like with 7x05 when they released the stills of Eddie presumably staring at Buck & Tommy on their date….. and then that scene fully just did not happen. Buck & Tommy left the restaurant like right after the interaction with Eddie.

all these promos & stills are Buddie-centric, which just tells me that the Madney of it all is gonna be so insane. i can’t wait to see them get married. her makeup all cried off and her dress kinda messy, him all busted up. this wedding is about to be heartwarming and heart-wrenching all at once.

watch eddie start to get tipsy and want to be so supportive of newly out baby bi buck that he’s like “let’s go find a lgbt party for you!!!” and then everyone at the party starts thinking they’re like together together (“you guys are such a hot couple!”) and buck goes to correct the first person who says it but now a slightly drunker eddie grabs him by the bicep and shouts “this is my partner buck!!! he’s bisexual!!!” and everyone just cheers and well… buck just forgets to correct anyone and that is how 50 or so people believe for the entire night that eddie and buck are getting married to each other because they keep talking about a wedding and their son and they’re touching and beaming and radiating love.

I would also like to state, physically cheating isn’t the only form of infidelity.

Buck and Eddie may almost kiss or actually kiss (which I don’t really want, but can see the potential unfolding story if they do) but that doesn’t automatically mean they will start an affair or have done it with intent.

Neither Buck nor Eddie seem aware they have feelings for the other (if that is where canon is going) so them getting drunk off their asses and giving in to feelings they’re both unaware they have, is a compelling story based on how their friendship has gone all these years.

That said, an almost kiss or no kiss but one or both of them still realizing down the line they are in love with the other, while still being in a relationship with Marisol or Tommy, is emotional cheating. Yet people still want that.

Buck cannot in good faith stay with Tommy after he realizes he’s in love with Eddie, because he’s too involved in Eddie’s life. He helps him care for his kid. He breaks down whenever he’s in danger. They fought like a couple on the verge of divorce when Buck sued the LAFD.

Eddie can’t in good faith stay with Marisol after realizing he’s in love with Buck, because Buck helps him raise his kid. Buck is in his will to obtain guardianship of his kid, over all other family and friends. Including those who are currently or have already raised children. As well, in the middle of him dying, Eddie was more concerned with whether Buck was injured or not.

The two of them have too much history built up in just five/six years, for any other love interest to compete if it becomes canon that they are in love. So while I obviously don’t want Buddie cheating to be their origin, I am curious how all those opposed will justify either one or both of them being in love with each other, while still being with someone else?

Because again, this isn’t typical “I met someone else and we connected.” It will be, “I realized I’m in love with the person I consider my best friend, and I didn’t distance myself to try and get over him.”

Unless of course they do that, but even then… the storyline would have to address it. Unless they go the unrequited feelings route for one of them, how can they justify Eddie or Buck forcing themselves to stay with Marisol or Tommy, despite being in love with someone they have a deep history with? Despite being so in love with someone else, they have to upend their life to make it work? They can’t.

The only way it works, is if Buck and/or Eddie have their realization, then become single. Because there is no way to view their emotional unavailability to a partner you want them to not cheat on, as not cheating emotionally.

Now, I for one am here for emotional infidelity. I think it’s way more complex than a physical affair, but again, I can see how a kiss or almost kiss can also be interesting story wise for Buddie. Because it can lead to emotional infidelity, without Buck nor Eddie realizing that’s what is happening until it happens. But you know… folks don’t like any sort of storytelling that paints lovable characters in a bad light anymore. Everything has to be spelled out or done the respectful way, which I understand to an extent, but no one is this hung up about it regarding Hen. And she made an active choice to cheat, even if she regretted it.

That is also a storyline I don’t like, but again, it was compelling enough to not ruin her character. Why can’t the same be said for anything Buck and Eddie might do? Because them figuring out they like each other in a way they both would never want to happen means they’ll fight it harder and likely beg to be forgiven, despite not being able to shake this newly discovered want.

And that is not feeding into stereotypes about bisexual or questioning men. That is writing bisexual and questioning men, who happen to be best friends, realizing they're in love and having it fuck up their lives due to how long they’ve known each other, yet been oblivious to how deeply involved they’ve been over the years.

LOL, I love that Buck is a little insane, it makes him oh so relatable to me. 😂

I don't know if escalation is really the right word because hurting other people has been a risk for Buck this entire time. But I think the reason we haven't seen that happen until now is because of the escalating nature of emotional issues - first you hurt yourself with them and, as they grow, you start to hurt and push away others. Also, Buck's relationships are playing a more prominent role this season than they've played in other seasons, so it makes sense that we're getting more into the effects his actions have on other people for that reason.

But yeah, I think it's a big old metaphor for abandonment issues. Buck is afraid to face what he feels for Eddie head on because he's afraid of being left, so his coping mechanisms come out and Eddie gets hurt because of them. Tommy should have been a bit more critical of Buck there (though I obviously understand why he wasn't - he was crushing on him and also injuries in sports, especially men's sports, are fairly common). I think the reason we never saw the apology is because Buck's apology, in a narrative sense, is going to occur when he finally confronts and admits how he feels about Eddie to Eddie, rather than trying to hurt himself for attention. So, the "apology" technically hasn't happened yet, that conflict is still ongoing. I also think that, because Tommy and Eddie are parallel characters, much like Eddie got hurt physically because of Buck's inability to admit to what he's feeling, Tommy is likely going to get hurt emotionally for the same reason, once he realizes that Buck is dating him because he's afraid to go after Eddie.

Anyway, I love mess and I love that Buck is kind of a messy person in general. And I hope that even if he doesn't handle things perfectly, people are still willing to stick with the story. I think it's much more interesting this way.
