My best friend, Haley, left town recently. And it's... been hard. You know... until this year, it's-it's always been us against the world. We pretty much grew up together and... now she's just gone. You know, I... I understand the leaving part. Trust me... I just wish she woulda called me; before she left. I wish... I coulda talked to her about it. I mean, not to change her mind... or to tell her what to do, but... just to say I love you... and I miss you.

Awe okay sorry this is so random! But I was looking around for best friend videos and found this one! Lucas and Haley from One Tree Hill have probably my favorite tv friendship, I love that they can be best friends and not have to have it mean more. n my head this is how I picture the Jean x reader relationship :D

Platonic besties who support each other and are there for each other even after an argument and the people in their lives know how much they mean to each other and when/if they have kids with their s/o would be the best aunt/uncle, etc, etc.

I ain't saying I'd NEVER pair them, but it wouldn't be in the same universe.

y'all. i've stolen my brother in law's hulu account and now i can binge rewatch one tree hill! which means i need me some oth inspired plots and ships! to liven it up a bit and take advantage of the awesome setting, we're also gonna layer in some 'rich kids of instagram' feel. 

these bbs are rising juniors at maidstone prep and (with the exception of the lucas) have more money than they know what to do with because of whatever their families have done, and have known each other since they were smoll. they have been attending the prep school for years, with the exception of the lucas (again) who will be transferring in in the fall on scholarship (and starting practices over the summer!). minus lucas, they have enough money to get into and out of just about anything, and they take advantage of that fact. the three popular kids (carson (the nathan), the brooke, and blaire (the peyton)) have been close for years and flaunt making dumb rich kid decisions and stuff together, while thea (the haley) and the lucas have been separately close for years and are quite a bit more toned down. we aren't planning to stick exact to the oth plot, but would like to keep general personality traits and relationships intact.

carson and the lucas are half brothers, and have always been rivals! their father chose carson and his family, and the lucas grew up in eastleigh with his single mother, who worked hard to make ends meet. the lucas and thea have been bffs for years and have while thea's family places her well into the elite world of maidstone, she’s more comfortable with the lucas, which has only made them closer. blaire and the brooke have a bit of an opposites attract friendship, but a very strong one none the less. they’e been friends since childhood, and can’t imagine that changing any time soon. the lucas has harbored a crush on blaire for years, but has never acted on it. carson and blaire are currently together, and have been in a tumultuous, on-again-off-again relationship for what seems like forever. 

this year, however, everything is going to change. the lucas has always been a talented athlete (basketball) and earned an athletic scholarship to maidstone for the fall term - with the help of a little influence from the rhodes family. the rivalry flares to epic proportions, and the stakes and the drama ramp up. carson will makes it his mission to get close to thea to get at the lucas, but neither count on developing the feels. blaire will finally starts to notice the lucas, and their chemistry is off the charts. what starts with banter leads to ignoring their curiosity about each other, leads to realizing that despite their first impressions, they could be something real. brooke throws her hat in the ring with just about everyone, but eventually starts to grow and mature and find herself, and become and amazing young woman and another confidant for thea.

THE NATHAN SCOTT - carson cole, 16, hayes hrier, played by erin 

big man on campus. arrogant and charismatic. under quite a bit more pressure than he lets on. lucas’ half brother - the prince. currently dating blaire - badly. 

THE LUCAS SCOTT - first last, 16, open fc 

talented underdog. introverted good guy who sometimes gets carried away. has a lot to prove. Lives with his single mother in a modest eastleigh apartment above the cafe she owns. met thea through the cafe  when they were kids and clicked - besties. arson’s half brother - the pauper. crushing on blaire hard. 

THE HALEY JAMES - thea rhodes, 16, kaia gerber, played by kay 

girl next door type. intelligent and clear headed. much more likely to let her emotions get away from her than she lets on. platonic soulmates with lucas, avoids the rest of them. willing to give people more chances than the deserve. 

THE PEYTON SAWYER ‐ blaire last, 16, brec bassinger, reserved for ash 

tortured artist disguised as an it girl. looking for more than this shallow life. definitely damaged. Currently dating carson - badly. best friends with brooke. will start noticing the lucas soon enough. the first to be friendly to thea.

THE BROOKE DAVIS - first last, 16, open face 

stereotypical it girl. shallow, selfish, and promiscuous, but can be sweet and loyal. hasn't found herself yet. has a lot of room to grow. best friends with blaire. eventually very closer to thea.

OTH Drabble - This Means War

If someone told me a few months ago that I would be spending my early morning run time not running but instead hanging out at Lucas Scott’s room, my father’s abandoned first son, I would have been equal parts amused and offended. That we are trying to hack into my girlfriend’s, Lucas’s bestfriend, account would be even more incredulous.

And yet here we are.

I slowly typed in ‘HotScott23’ and ignored Lucas snickering from behind me.

“Dude, seriously?!”

“Shut up.” I grumbled when a warning message popped out that this is the second attempt at logging into Haley’s account using an incorrect password. The last try would effectively lock her out.

And then Lucas and I will have to die horrible deaths at the hand of one Haley James.

“Try, Mr-Waffles-two-one-eight-eight.” Lucas said, hovering behind me. “No spaces. Uppercase M and W.”

I must have given him an incredulous look because he let out a dramatic sigh before pretty much elbowing me out of the way. He squinted at the screen, not even glancing at the keyboard, just typing it all effortless and efficiently quick.

Fucking show off.  

“Ha!” Lucas triumphantly exclaimed after a few seconds.

“No way, man!” I pushed him away a little too roughly. Before I could even take a good look at Haley’s inbox, Lucas was quick to log it out. I only managed to see that most of her e-mail exchanges were from her siblings and surprise, fucking surprise: Lucas. I don’t even know what they could be emailing about when they are literally together almost all the time.

Lucas was shaking his head. “I told her to not use her birthday for her password. I have to remind her to change that.” He straightened up, throwing me a look of pure smugness. “That’s another point for me, Nate.” He made a gesture of flicking his wrist as though he had just shot a perfect three pointer and this time, I pushed him hard enough that he stumbled into his unmade bed. “Jeez, you really do hate losing.” He snorted as he rolled over, watching me as I stood up to grab my water bottle, making my way towards his door.

I rolled my eyes. “This isn’t finished yet.” I told him, my voice sounding harsher than I had intended. This was starting to annoy me. At first it had been a silly little bet, something we joked about. I can’t remember exactly how this escalated into a real, keeping score competition between us – like we need any more of that – but there was no way that I am going to let Lucas win this one.

I am determined to prove him that I know Haley better than he does. He might be the childhood bestrfriend, but I am the boyfriend. That should cancel out everything.

Right?

I was half way out of the door when I realized something. Poking my head back inside his room, I asked: “Who the fuck is Mr. Waffles?!”

Lucas blinked at me before slowly smiling, raising his eyebrows. “Wouldn’t you like to know?”

Far from being amused, I let out a huff before slamming the door shut. I swear I could hear Lucas giggling inside. Giggling.

Stupid asshat. Forget silly stupid bet. This is war.

Wow. I think the last time I ever wrote a One Tree Hill fic was, 10 years ago? I might turn this into something longer. But for now it’s just a short drabble.

how did you feel about the friendships in oth?

When I think about OTH friendships, I immediately think of Laley. Lucas and Haley's friendship is probably one of the best things OTH has ever done, and possibly one of the best friendships on the TV in general. I'm so grateful that they gave us a clear friendship, without even one romantic try, or feeling. That is really rare these days in tv shows, so I will forever love that OTH did it. Laley could possibly be one of my favorite tv friendships ever.

Talking about other friendships, I actually like how they developed Lucas and Nathan, from enemies to brothers. They really became friends and family to each other, and they are one of my favorite duos on the show. They didn't do it too quickly, they connected them through basketball, but Haley the most and the way Nathan changed for Haley made him ready to let go of the past and let Lucas into his life, and that made Lucas ready too. I enjoyed their development.

Next important friendship of the show must be the one between Peyton and Brooke. Now, I don't think that their friendship was the worst, but I was never that much invested in them anyway. I actually liked Haley and Brooke as friends a lot more. But, talking about Breyton, I think Peyton's treatment of Brooke was really terrible a lot of times, but I have to say that when they were on good terms, the show made a good job with them and it would actually make you appreciate them as friends and even sad that they can't be like that more. I just think that Peyton generally didn't know how to be a good friend? She never really developed a deeper friendship with Haley, I mean yeah, they were friends, but were not on the same level as Brooke and Haley. She treated Brooke awful at times and that was a shame, because, as I already said, when they would not be fighting, their friendship was really enjoyable. It would even be more enjoyable if Peyton hasn's repeatedly treated Brooke bad. I think that out of all of Peyton's friendships, I liked the best the one she had with Nathan? I love how they stayed friends after the breakup, that is the one thing that she and Lucas were never able to do, but it was probably because Nathan and she never worked romantically, they were so bad for each other while dating, and I think that is why they were so enjoyable as friends. I just wish we got more of that friendship.

I already said that I enjoyed Braley a lot more than Breyton, and that's because while Brooke's friendship with Peyton was messy a lot of times, her friendship with Haley was so much healthier. I enjoyed watching these two developing from frenemies to best friends. Haley's speech at Brooke's wedding was so beautiful and it just reminded everyone how far the two of them have come. I loved how much they supported each other always. They are my second favorite frienship on this show, right after Laley.

Brooke, Haley and Peyton as a trio were enjoyable, but I can't deny that even when it would be the three of them, it was obvious that Brooke's connection with both of them was stronger than the one Peyton and Haley had, but I actually think that's pretty realistic because when you have a group of friends, no one has exactly the same connection and friendship. So, I enjoyed them as a trio a lot.

One thing that probably makes me the saddest is that we never got a lot of Brooke and Nathan's friendship? Which is really a shame, because all of the friendly moments we did get were so amazing. If they just develop them more and gave them more screentime I think they would be one of my favorite friendships too.

Also, I was a big Brucas shipper at the beginning, but then I realized Brooke deserved so much better, so I gave up on them, but I have to say this: no matter how bad Lucas treated Brooke while they would be dating, he treated her great when they would just be friends. I just think that Lucas was a lot better friend to Brooke than he was ever a boyfriend. He in general knew better how to be a friend than a boyfriend. So, I enjoyed their friendship because while he didn't know how to appreciate how amazing Brooke is while they would be dating, he always appreaciated her more than anyone when they would be just friends. That's kind of funny, but it's how they worked I guess.

Mouth and Brooke were just amazing, I first thought that they would be a classic unpopular-kid-pines-after-a-popular-girl type of relationship, but how they developed them was so unnexpected and beautiful. They were to each other exactly what they both needed the most: someone to appreciate the hell out of them and show them how amazing they are. Since they were both pretty unsecure about themselves it was beautiful to see how in contrast to thinking so little of themselves, they would think so much of each other and in that way they would make each other feel loved and appreciated which was exactly what they needed to realize how much of an amazing people they were.

I think that OTH in general knew how to make friendships good, because every friendship seemed to have a big potential, it's just sad that they would not use that potential for all friendships, but rather just some. But, I think that it says a lot that I was able to enjoy Breyton when they would be on good terms, no matter how much I hated it when Peyton would betray Brooke. That's not an easy task to accomplish, considering that Peyton's treatment of Brooke was lousy at times.

One thing that I think the show did wrong is that they didn't make Lucas a better friend to Mouth and Skills. I loved them, but I just think that they were always better friends to him than he was to them, often kind of not appreciating them enough while they would always support him more than anyone.

But, dynamics they developed between Brooke and Jamie? Jamie and Skills? Jamie and Quentin? JUST AMAZING. Some of the best things on the show which says a lot because this show had so many excellent things.
