Was tagged by @astriiformes to name 10 songs I like with names in the title, which was a fun little challenge. Here’s my list:
Baba O'Riley - The Who. One of my all time favorite songs! The title refers to spiritual leader Meher Baba and composer Terry O'Riley.
Bela Lugosi's Dead - Bauhaus. The original goth rock track.
Michael - Franz Ferdinand. Half their songs have names in the title, but this is probably the one I like best.
Song for Bob Dylan - David Bowie. I could make this entire list out of Bowie songs, but I'll just stick with one.
MLK - U2. Bono has written so many songs about Dr. King, but this is the only one with his name.
Andrew in Drag - The Magnetic Fields. I love this slightly problematic song.
Lola - The Kinks. Also slightly problematic, but actually very sweet.
Jane Says - Jane's Addiction. What can I say, it's a bop.
Whatshername - Green Day. That counts, right?
Judy is a Punk - The Ramones. Can't beat a classic.

Last Sentence Tag
RULES: Post the last sentence you wrote (fanfic / original / anything) and tag as many people as there are words in the sentence.
I was tagged by the lovely @staceymcgillicuddy. Here's the last sentence I wrote in that Hellcheer fic I haven't fiddled with in over a week but really do intend to get back to! (It doesn't help that it's about a heatwave and the heatwave here broke so I've been slightly less inspired than I was when I began. But we're only having Fake Fall, and the 90s are returning next week, so that may just motivate me.)
"How about a cannonball instead?"
I can't remember who all has been tagged to do this, so forgive me if I'm double-tagging! @gloriousclio, @handypolymath, @lafseanchai, @misscrawfords, and @mxkelsifer

Bonus content includes more conversations about the show, legends, and how we’re still relating to these characters and situations today. Plus things that don’t even have to do with Robin Hood, because it is more fun that way!
Remember - Never Forget The Outlaws, and We Are Robin Hood!

Come join us on April 26th when we drop the pilot episode, “Will You Tolerate This?” (a question which goes double for our podcast)!

That post about the smoothest person on earth that you just posted - I saw that the other day, and my first thought was I could totally seen Jonathan Queen doing something like this - going to haunted house with his college buddies or going with Abby and some other friends, and his Arrow instincts kicking in before he reins in it and just goes into flirt mode. It was a great image to add to the awesome story of the post.
It makes me ridiculously happy that Jon lives in your head too. Oh my actual goodness.
Ha, Jon or Oliver in a haunted house.
There aren’t a lot of pranks or jump-scares in the Queen home, because everyone knows that tripping their startle reflex is a great way to end up concussed on the floor. I’m sure they could rein it in for the duration of The Mortuary on Canal Street, but damn that would be funny.

The Hunnicutts Build Their Dream House Chapter 3
Complete.
For @lafseanchai, just what she wanted I'm sure.
Mom laughed. “He doesn’t seem to have changed.” “What do you mean? Of course he’s changed. Haven’t you seen the caterpillar on his top lip?” Not to mention the lines on his face and bags under his eyes. To say nothing of the trauma that he carried with him, the guilt.

As someone who knows a fair bit of Norwegian, seeing written Danish and Swedish is so funny because like. Danish feels just a little bit uncanny, like just slightly to the left, to the point that I have gotten the two confused before. But Swedish just feels like you are messing with me on purpose.

Like a month ago @rhubarbdreams tagged me to share the last line I'd written! Thankfully in the interim I've ... actually done some writing! This is from the Pacific Rim AU which I am making slow but regular progress on, little bits at a time:
Grace begins talking. After the first few minutes, Dani feels queasy. Not long beyond that, and both she and Sarah need to sit down.
I'm supposed to tag as many people as there are words in the sentence, but I can't think of enough people to tag! Right back atcha @rhubarbdreams and also tagging @astriiformes @lafseanchai @dreamlogic @redead-red @sugarfey and YOU if you're reading this!

Me: Oh my god. He just had a minor heart attack and has no idea why. His grandmother felt that insult.

@mxkelsifer tagged me last Sunday to do Six Sentence Sunday, but I was so busy writing I didn’t actually get around to it! So here’s six sentences from Guidance Counseling Chapter 11, which may or may not be finished by Monday...
I tag @a-strange-inkling, @bratanimus, @cricketsatnight, @hangon-silvergirl, @lafseanchai, and @little-scribblers-heart and anyone else who wants to do it. (And if you don’t want to do it, absolutely no pressure!)
***
"Oof," said Jeff, "them's the breaks, man."
Eddie whipped himself in the face with his hair as he jerked to glare past the empty passenger seat at his bandmate. "What do you mean, them's the breaks?"
"I'm sure it was a beautiful dream while it lasted," Shawn said.
Eddie slammed the passenger door and stalked around the front of the van, climbed behind the wheel, and slammed his door, too. "Chrissy's not going to break up with me because we were late to school, shitass."

"Five BBCRH Things We Can't Stop Talking About, and One We'd Really, Really Rather Not Ever Have Mentioned"
“Will Saw London, Will Saw France, Will Saw What Was Lacking in D’Jaq’s Underpants”
Turk Flu will always hold a special place in my heart as the first Robin Hood episode I watched in full (I’d caught a few others here and there and it piqued my interest).  But it also holds a special place for the introduction of this character:
Tumblr media
Djaq.
There was no doubt that this character was going to make an impact on the gang and the audience from the get-go.  When the magnifying glass came out, Djaq didn’t wait to try and reclaim it.  He was unafraid to show anger at the idea of converting to Christianity.  And he did manage to flip the idea and get into Much’s head.  He was the negotiator between the other captives and Robin. The knowledge from his physician father helped save Little John.
Bravery, cleverness, and smarts all made Djaq a good fit for the gang.
What might have not been a good fit was this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Djaq was not a he, but a she!
It was certainly a surprise (hush, Robin, you just want to be right all the time), but it wasn’t a problem for the other outlaws.  Djaq became a part of the gang.
It wasn’t the first time that we had a gender reveal in the show, with the Nightwatchman being unmasked to show he was Marian.  But Djaq’s reveal was a bigger deal in a lot of ways.  She was introduced as a complex character instead of a mysterious figure.  And she stays with the gang and becomes a part of the group, instead of being a satellite as Marian is to the outlaws.
Djaq was a breath of fresh air to the gang, bringing a new perspective with her desire to help and make a difference, and she makes her own place as much as she is accepted into the gang.
And we get some comedy with the reveal as well – Will gets smashed in the face with a branch and the shock of realizing that Djaq was a woman. And later, John’s face while he tries to balance the person that he assumed was a young man was a woman is as hilarious as it is quiet.
But past the comedy, we get so see an interesting start to Djaq and Will’s relationship.  Will doesn’t say anything, and the plans to free the slaves and destroy the mine are seen to without throwing that bit of knowledge into the mix.  It was irrelevant at the time.  And his outing of Djaq’s gender was out of a protective instinct – “It wouldn’t be safe here, to join us,” he says, directing it to Djaq and not Robin.
In short, Djaq promised to be a fascinating and fun character from the get-go, but the revelation that she was a woman made it that much more interesting and awesome.  Here we have a woman of color, knowledgeable in science and medicine.  She’s strong, smart and able to hold her own; yet we can see vulnerability in how she waits for the gang to agree to let her join them. And all this in just the first episode she’s in!
Turk Flu is a favorite for many reasons, and Djaq’s introduction – the slow unfolding of which takes most of the episode – is high on that list.
Never forget the outlaws, especially Djaq!

@lafseanchai replied to your post:
Why did you obtain this lore?
I knitted a scarf/shawl thing that’s intended to be a gift for my very-soon-to-be-sister-in-law out of an acrylic blend, and I was really frustrated with the way it wouldn’t lie flat, so I googled whether you can block acrylic, and the consensus seems to be that you can’t really block it per se but you *can* murder it!
so i did that.
