What’s your fancast for the Cullens since you despise the live action casting
For this one, we must assume that the time-space continuum has collapsed and I am able to pluck any actor or model I want from the past century and stuff them in my movie. That, or I stole a TARDIS.
In order of the alphabet:
Alice: Twiggy. Emaciated but beautiful, her strange features shouldn’t come together so well but they do. An odd-looking, unconventional, tiny beauty.
Bella: Kristen Stewart was a good call, she problem was she played the wrong character. My fancast for her would be a young Jodie Foster. She has that frail, sensitive, expressive beauty going, easy to overlook at first glance but grows more beautiful the more you see her. She’s a phenomenal actress, very good at silent vulnerability.
Carlisle: I expect no one to be with me on this one, but: David Bowie. Otherworldly beautiful, something ineffably alien about the man, his face makes you drop whatever you’re doing, and there’s so much happening in those eyes. I could believe that Bella found this face blinding like the sun. As an additional plus, he looks distinctly British. (Second ref).
(Shoutout to a young Peter O’Toole for also having that certain kind of aura I would expect from Carlisle. Plus, highly attractive. He’s already my fancast for Tom Riddle, though, and it’s embarrassing to always be pointing to the same guy.)
Edward: Robert Pattinson was a great cast, though he was a bit old already in Twilight, and like Steward he did not play a character I recognize. Cedric Diggory is far more Edward than what Pattinson played in the movie. If I had to come up with an alternartive, I’d go Timothee Chalamet. Beautiful, and the kind girls flock to.
Emmett: Jean-Claude van Damme. A ruggedly handsome muscle mountain. Dudebro, but imposing. (Second ref)
Esme: Hard to cast, because not a lot of people make me think “Ah, yes, this is Snow White in the flesh”. Rachel Stirling as Caroline Crale in “Five Little Pigs” is my best suggestion for her, because I can see that in her. Caroline is older, a bit rounded, yet easily the most beautiful woman in the room. Hers is a face you write poetry about. In addition to this she is every inch the ideal woman for her time and culture, so dignified and good it hurts. (Photo ref)
Jasper: Clint Eastwood, hands down. The easiest fancast of all the Cullens, to the point where if I were casting for a Twilight reboot today I would still cast Eastwood, even though he’s in his nineties. The movie Unforgiven is the reason why. Throughout his career, Eastwood played these terrifying, badass men surrounded by violence. His life is garbage and he knows it, but he’s top dog in the dogfight. Dirty Harry especially comes to mind, Harry is a cop who’s earned his moniker because he does what others won’t, even as he hates every inch of this life. Unforgiven is the movie where he got away from it all, he’s found happiness as a humble hog farmer raising his two young children. Just, the way Eastwood plays these characters, the way he makes what would be an unremarkable action movie badass into a tired soldier powering through for reasons he doesn’t quite remember, all the while having this confident air of the top dog who’s won every fight and knows he’ll win this one as well, makes him spot on Jasper. Also the fact that he’s ridiculously good-looking.
Rosalie: Dianne Argon is painfully beautiful, she’s every ideal at once. More, her demeanor is… she’s good at the haunted thing. Those who have seen her in Glee will know that she’s extremely good at being fine on the surface, even when she’s completely unhappy - and you can tell at once glance she’s unhappy. As the inverse of Foster she’s easy to dismiss as just beautiful, then you truly look at her and she’s so much more.

28 August 2018 (#605)
Last night I was going though my Twitter feed and was stunned when I saw a really gorgeous selfie from Brianna Hildebrand. This made me again think just how beautiful people are with short hair.
Here are some amazing people (with short hair) that I just gawk at every time I see a photo of them:
Brianna Hildebrand: She was such a great addition to the Deadpool movies and she looks stunning with short hair.
Bex Taylor-Klaus: I first saw her in the Scream TV series and just loved her. Just love that she is so open and she is probably the first non-binary celebrity that I heard of.
Austen Marie: She is an artist and Twitch streamer that I accidentally stumbled across just as she shaved her head. She is drop dead gorgeous and so talented. On top of that she is just a really nice person.
Morena Baccarin: I first saw her with short hair in the V TV series reboot. She is just stunning (with short or long hair).
Kristen Steward: Another gorgeous celebrity that looks just amazing with short hair.
Ruby Rose: Oh my word she is another gorgeous person with short hair. Can’t wait to see her in Batwoman.
Chris Hemsworth: Just had to add him to this list. I may be alone in this but I just loved him in Thor Ragnarok with short hair.
You don’t need long hair to be absolutely stunning. Do with your hair what makes you feel good.

Zack Snyder’s Vicious Wonder Woman Photo Reflects Warner’s Early Internal War
https://ift.tt/3hrGuKh
While the bellwether day-and-date HBO Max release of Wonder Woman 1984 left audiences divided, there can be no question that the sequel’s storyline reinforced writer/director Patty Jenkins’s vision for Gal Gadot’s version of the DC Comics heroine, reflecting ideals of compassion and mercy with pathological nuance. However, shockingly vicious imagery from an early concept photo displayed by the character’s first directorial steward, Zack Snyder, presents a stark contrast to her current ethos of unbridled optimism.
The photo (see the article’s main image,) was prominently showcased by Snyder in the background of a virtual interview with ComicBook Debate, in which the director’s upcoming HBO Max miniseries version of Justice League, a.k.a. the once-mythical “Snyder Cut” of the 2017 film, was the main topic of discussion. Supposedly set during the Crimean War (1853-1856), the photo, which further surfaced on social media, shows Gadot’s Wonder Woman posing stoically at a military encampment among a surreally-diverse group of warriors, notably joined by an arguably-hilarious kicker, a fully-armored Japanese Samurai (don’t ask why). Yet, the catch here, is that she’s holding a trio of severed heads—presumably of Russian soldiers, given her depicted allies, and the war’s historical catalyst being that country’s territorial seizures in the Middle East.
Here is a clear look at the pic shown during Zack’s interview today, it was used as a placeholder in BVS and was taken before Patty was hired and took on Wonder Woman’s origin Story. Thanks boss @ZackSnyder for letting us share this.#UsUnited #ZackSnydersJusticeLeague pic.twitter.com/qeBFCev9MT
— NQ Cole & Nana #UsUnited (@TheNerdQueens) January 4, 2021
So, how and why did the concept of Wonder Woman holding heads—that she presumably severed—exist in the first place? Well, such imagery was the byproduct of studio Warner Bros. and its long-held ambivalence about how to approach a big screen rendition of Wonder Woman, who, despite being an iconic DC character, primarily remained associated by laypeople with the campy, sexified 1970s television series, as played by Lynda Carter. Yet, Jenkins, who had broken big directing Charlize Theron in 2003 crime drama Monster, had been pitching her concepts for a Wonder Woman movie sporadically since 2004, only to be repeatedly countered by intractably dark and violent visions from studio suits. However, the studio ultimately greenlit the film in 2014—contextually, after Gal Gadot had already landed the role for the movie that would become Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice—and hired director Michelle MacLaren, a successful small screen helmer from shows such as Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead.
Unfortunately, the MacLaren era of Wonder Woman saw the studio conspicuously circle as many as 30 scripts, which led to a significant amount of confusion over the general direction of the film and the character herself; a dilemma that Jenkins recently described on podcast WTF with Marc Maron (via The Playlist) as “an internal war on every level about what Wonder Woman should be.” Indeed, the confusion remained ongoing, even after MacLaren’s 2015 departure and Jenkins’s subsequent hiring. “They wanted to hire me like a beard; they wanted me to walk around on set as a woman, but it was their story and their vision,” Jenkins continued, further explaining of the studio’s expectations of an ultraviolent Wonder Woman, “Even when I first joined Wonder Woman it was like, ‘uhh, yeah, ok, but let’s do it this other way.’ But I was like, ‘Women don’t want to see that. Her being harsh and tough and cutting people’s heads off, that’s not what— I’m a ‘Wonder Woman’ fan, that’s not what we’re looking for. Still, I could feel that shaky nervousness [on their part] of my point of view.”

Wonder Woman’s Power of Flight: DCEU Versus DC Comics
By Kayti Burt
By the time Jenkins had finally stepped into the Wonder Woman director’s chair, Gadot’s first performance as the character in Snyder’s Dawn of Justice was already in the can, shaped—albeit in a limited capacity—by his vision. Thus, while Jenkins had finally procured her dream gig, she was dealt the dubious task of crafting a proper introduction for a character that Snyder had depicted in the 2016 film as a sword-and-shield-wielding super-powered femme-fatale; one who, in the fog of war, you could envision being ruthless enough to decapitate villains in order to move things along. Of course, Jenkins’s work on the 2017 solo film brought poignant dimensions to the character, presenting an artful mix of action sequences with comical fish-out-of-water tropes and genuinely heartfelt moments, which yielded tremendous audience acclaim and financial success.
Nevertheless, Snyder’s wall art—apparently a placeholder for the Easter Egg World War I-era photo we eventually saw in Dawn of Justice foreshadowing Chris Pine’s Steve Trevor and the gang—is a shocking scene for fans. This is especially the case after the sanguine, literally stratospheric note on which Wonder Woman 1984 ended, and the film’s compassionate treatment of antagonists Maxwell Lord (Pedro Pascal) and Barbara Minerva/Cheetah (Kristen Wiig). Indeed, both of her enemies were given relatable backstories and motivations that defied cinematic definitions of being “villains,” despite the fact that Wonder Woman could have easily mitigated the global threat of the wish-granting Dreamstone by chopping off a couple of heads quick enough to be home in time to watch Miami Vice. Moreover, she no longer even carried her once-trusty sword and shield in the sequel, proving that some 70 years of living in human civilization as Diana Prince made her reluctant to dish out the more brutal aspects of Themysciran justice.

Wonder Woman 1984 is still currently available on HBO Max, although you might want to catch the film before its initial streaming window closes on Sunday, January 24.

RECAPITULATION, VOL. 1 OF 12
 The first five weeks.
{January 2nd-5th of February}
For the past five #artstew52 weeks I’ve been watching artists love on each other without thought or hesitation. It’s like, I know we care for others and all but I know sometimes it’s hard to find a way to tell them or give back, especially online. You guys are beyond willing to care about each other’s work and you have also emboldened me to keep cranking out the prompts and effort for the Art Stew.
It started as a project for myself and @alyssa.kinde ! Two people. Alyssa already tends to create content quickly and I thought she would be a good one for motivating me and holding me accountable.
When I’ve done these projects in the past they tend to fizzle around five weeks (we’re at five weeks now so we’ll see) ;) but on a whim I decided to DM all the artists I could think of that I already had a bit of a connection with. Even in that one night when I sent out the proposal EVERYONE responded they were interested!
SINCE then the support for the stew has been happily simmering and bubbling and boiling… (I love these stew metaphors—sometime we need to make punny t-shirts.)
So I guess what I’m trying to say is I have two things on my heart especially.
1. I’m very appreciative of everyones passion for this project so far and for everyone that is supporting as observers.
2. I find myself feeling warm and fuzzy and smiling everyday that I read your comments on each others contributions. I want your ways to rub off on me and I think it’s more likely that will happen if I stay surrounded by all of your stewy hearts.
Okay, now for a recap.
WEEK ONE—A WORD FOR 2017
There were so many words floating around. I think most everyone was feeling positive or trying to think of a word that would double as a resolution. (Everything in bold is a link to the art piece.) :
Dino-mite, flourish, pursue, fight, rooster (year of the rooster), do, grace, can, determination, heal, patience, love, wild, wellness, possible, journey, spark, faith, bravery, passion, abundance, self-belief.. one Steward’s word was vision and he designed a 3D art piece that resembled an eye. (I think it was so brilliant we probably didn’t catch it right away.) Another Steward said their word was despair which I found so hilarious and humorous in it’s honesty and contrast to the others.
Tumblr media
Art by: @alyssa.kinde (Core Artist), She articulated it best for the Art Stew, “The prompt for this week was "a word for 2017″. A word I had already chosen for this year was - adventure - the project came together nicely and I think it does have "the spirit of adventure." Happy New Year everyone! Have lots of adventures!” See all of Alyssa’s contributions here: #alyssastew52
WEEK TWO—SNUG
Week two I believe was my personal favorite because we had enough time to really focus on the prompt and on each other. The prompt kicked off the Art Stew community in all the snugly ways (and I mean all of them.)
For example:
Tumblr media
Art by: @kristentillmandesign (Core Artist), “It's week 2 of #artstew52 and this week's prompt is "snug". I thought of cozy socks, cuddly babies and such, but I couldn't get this ink elephant vision out of my head!” See all of Kristen’s contributions here: ktartstew52
@mich.elle.imagery however interpreted the other side of snug for us very nicely, “Cozy socks, wool blankets, candles and oversize sweaters encompass all of these things. Beyond that though, after full days of getting out of my comfort zone, I also believe it's a feeling to come back to at the end of the day as a way to recharge before starting the next day of adventure.” (I’m seeing an adventure theme here.) See Michelle’s photo for snug here.
WEEK THREE—EVERGREEN
This week was jam packed with simplicity and beauty. Exactly like @ariellebacon ‘s piece here and this written piece below:
Tumblr media
Prose by: @a_hilst (Writer), “The woods always smell of burning, a strangely comforting smell, that smell of dying trees. I walk under a gray sky, sticks snapping under my brown boots, the ones I wore in the snow when I carried his tiny body, warm and safe in mine. I stare at the dull green of the pine trees, vivid against the brown trunks and exposed branches. I catch a whiff of smoke again. Two things never say enough: fire and death. Isn’t that the proverb?”
One of my personal favorite aspects of the Art Stew are the writers and this particular style of writing stood out to me. I love bits of writing that end in a question. So well done Ashly. Read the rest of this beautifully chokey piece here.
WEEK FOUR—LUNAR
I thought everyone loved the moon but I overheard one Steward, @kristentillmandesign (nudge, nudge) saying she was utterly uninspired by the “annoyingly boring white blob”. We all have that blob in our life don’t we and yet after Kristen focused on it a bit this is what she concluded,
“Upon further thought, I realized that perhaps I dislike said blob because she asks me daily "What did you accomplish today?" and most days, my honest answer is "not enough." But maybe I'm hearing the wrong question. Perhaps she's asking "Were you loved and did you love today?", to which I can joyfully respond "yes!"—See Kristen’s not so uninspiring blob here.
Tumblr media
Photo by: @hellozorzi (Photographer, I’m guessing she’s a writer too.), “Last week's word for #artstew52 was LUNAR and I couldn't get the right shot anywhere. Not the sliver of the waxing moon, or the opalescent colors, or a photo of my Moon Spells. Nothing was 'it'. And today driving back from my school site, I could have kept trucking ahead in the snow back to Amherst, or taken a right and pulled into the Bookmill. I took the right, shook my boots off before entering the tiny cafe there, and saw @magknowlia's hair from the back-- neck craned into a book of modern poetry. When you see exactly the person you wanted to see and didn't even know it and they have a window seat view of the snow-- get a mug of coffee and join them. Because between us saying how we'll never actually read The Federalist and how we both have eerily similar hidden dreams-- she raised her hand to her chin and THERE IT WAS: the 🌙  I had been looking for. Found you, little Luna.”
WEEK FIVE—A FAVORITE BOOK
Last but not in the slightest least! This week the word torture was tossed around so much you would have thought that we weren’t having the best Art Stewy week of all!
I’m going to list all of the favorite books here so we can add them to our “to read” lists. Click on the name in bold to see more info on the book and contributions for the week.
HARRY POTTER (series)—@jennapaddey (pictured below), @klaing_, @bertillustration, and myself.
ANNE OF THE ISLAND—@ariellebacon
WHEN BREATH BECOMES AIR—@mich.elle.imagery
WINNIE THE POOH (original)—@lipstickandgelato
PRIDE & PREJUDICE—@wilkinsonsophie1
THE LORD OF THE RINGS (trilogy)—@ranilynreed
ST. LUCY’S HOME FOR GIRLS RAISED BY WOLVES—@emilyh_art

CAN’T YOU SLEEP LITTLE BEAR—@teathoughts
JANE EYRE
THE HELP
HEARTLESS
THE BOOK THIEF @gracie_eyre ‘s top four (cuz she couldn’t pick just one) ;)
THE BLUE CASTLE—@a_hilst
ANY HUMAN HEART—@thewordfairy
THE TWO PRINCESSES OF BAMARRE - @teaganolivia
THE LITTLE PRINCE - @lacelit
NEVERWHERE - @themythicalphoenix
@blackberrysquare picked her freshly made gardening book and if I had a garden that would be my treasure book too. (Click her name to see.)
EDIT: To be continued... the week isn’t quite over.
There is your list! If you want, treat yourself to one of these books for your own personal #newbookday and share what you decide on in the #artstew52 tagging the person that inspired it.
Tumblr media
Art by: @jennapaddey (Core and Digital Artist), “I mean, come on. It's not really a surprise is it? I definitely have a long list of favourite books, but I've read the Harry Potter series more than any other, it was definitely a huge part of growing up and i love it deeply. So here's a wee little Harry heading off to Hogwarts.”
The highlight of the whole month for me was the presence of @opallonia! If you ever need her she’s probably already in the comments telling you all the things she likes about you and your work. She has helped me keep this stew cooking all month. I’ve made so many new friends and I bet Appolonia is ALREADY one of yours. So, I’ll leave you with a piece of Appolonia’s awe-inspiring awesomeness...
A video posted by pops (@opallonia) on Jan 19, 2017 at 2:08am PST
SO! How’s that for our first Recapitulation? I’ll post one for every month of the Art Stew because really, there is so much goodness to stew in here.
If you want, send me your feedback and thoughts by clicking the tab under the Art Stew Header that says “Comments & Good Conversation”.

Energy Saving Trees, The Florida Forest Service and Duke Energy Bring Lasting Environmental Benefits to the State of Florida
Energy Saving Trees, a program of the Arbor Day Foundation, partnered with the Florida Forest Service and Duke Energy to bring valuable social and environmental impact to Duke Energy customers in the state of Florida. The program placed 2,200 trees in the hands of area residents, at no cost, throughout three counties in Central Florida (Orlando) area to promote energy conservation through community involvement.
“This Energy Saving Trees partnership exemplifies our commitment to the environment and our customers," said Harry Sideris, president, Duke Energy Florida. “Duke Energy Florida has been designated a Tree Line USA utility by the Arbor Day Foundation for 10 consecutive years. We strive to be good stewards while working to educate customers about planting the right tree in the right place so we can continue to provide safe and reliable energy.”
Through the Energy Saving Trees programs, residents were able to use proprietary, interactive software to determine the best placement for the free trees on their property, taking into account the most beneficial spot for planting resulting in the highest potential for energy savings. Over the next 20 years, this impact of the 2,200 trees distributed is projected to include 2,191,508 kWh of energy saved, 22,612, 907 gallons of storm water filtered, 5,185,450 lbs. of carbon sequestered, and 14,534 lbs. of air pollutants absorbed.  The environmental value of this project is expected to be nearly half a million dollars over the next 20 years.
“This partnership between location corporations, state government agencies and our national nonprofit illustrates the importance of energy savings in our local communities,” said Kristen Bousquet of the Energy Saving Trees program.  “Not only were the partners excited about getting the trees into the hands of residents, but the local residents claimed the available trees in record time really illustrating the need for this program in their community.”
Since its inception in 2011, the Energy Savings Tree program has partnered with 48 communities and partners, planting more than 190,000 of trees throughout 37 of the United States.
