[ ONE-SHOT ] [ Kokichi Ouma ] [ Danganronpa V3 Killing Harmony ]

This was requested by @sleepyone2three, thank you for requesting it!! The version of the other characters requested you can find it in the masterlist

I have a love-hate for Kokichi, I don't justify Kokichi's actions but I kinda understand him, and from my point of view at the end he was brave and super smart the little bastard. Also, this is my first time writing for him I hope you like it!! 💜

It could be pretty surprising to see someone like Kokichi, who likes to mess with everyone and always put jokes on others, with someone so sweet and patient, people may don't completely understand why you two are together but that doesn't matter, Kokichi loves you and you love him, that is the only thing that matters

Once you two get into the Saishu Academy and the killing game his attitude doesn't change much, however at the start he was a little more calm, still he finds this whole situation pretty interesting and exciting, or at least that was what he tell everyone, he find it interesting in a bad way, he doesn't trust the academy nor Monokuma at all and the posibility of you getting killed terrify him (but he doesn't tell you this)

Kokichi doesn't really trust in people and whenever he is atracted to someone normally is just because that person could be of use or bring him some fun, so for you two being a couple means that Kokichi deeply loves and trust you (not blindly but he does trust you), that is why he wants to win this killing game with you, you may don't like his idea but he doesn't like the idea of losing you, the only person he actually trust

Kokichi really appreciate and loves your patience, he can say a lot of little lies or put on you a lot of jokes and tricks and still you never get truly mad at him, he may annoy you sometimes but you still love him and you still are sweet to him. Under other conditions he will like to test your limits but inside of this killing game it wouldn't be a good idea if he wants to keep you by his side, in addition Kokichi grows more clingy and a little more serious and strict with you (it could seem like he is just joking or may he himself says that he isn't saying it seriously, but with you and only you he gets sincere and you can tell that his worries are true), he loves your sweet and calm personality but in a killing game that is just a disadvantage, you could be easily tricked by someone and end up killed, or worst, use you to kill someone else

Kokichi tried to warn you more than once to don't trust in anyone inside of the academy, anyone could be planning something against you or even use you, Kokichi doesn't trust in anyone there aside from you and he is trying to make you see that too, is his weird way of trying to protect you

However, no matter what Kokichi says or do that doesn't stop you from still trying to help the others, with your sweetness and patience you easily inspire the others and motivate them to work together, specially after what happened to Kaede

Kokichi has his own idea of how to end the game and he doesn't care what he has to do to fullfil his goal he is planning to do everything in his power to make the two of you survived and win this whole game

The killing game was stressful enough, the only situation made everyone nervous and somehow a little paranoid from time to time, adding Monokuma, the Monokubs and the incentives that they bring after every trial it makes things more difficult to endure, even when everyone wanted to end with the game the attitude of some of them doesn't help at all (Kokichi being one of them)

As patient as you can be everyone has a limit, between Monokuma and the Monokubs, Kokichi messing with everyone and you trying really hard for them to not attacking him was driving you crazy, and the situation just get worst when you add the investigations, the trials and losing more and more friends. Kokichi tries to remind you that you can't trust anyone, specially after the trials, and he isn't really good to bring you comfort and support in those moments, in other situation he would have less troubles with trying and show some vulnerability with you, giving you and craving for some comfort, but he can't just let himself do it right now, he has to be strong and keep his facade, Kokichi feels like that is the better way to survive but in his need of survive he forget about you in a more personal way

Everything started with an argument between you two, you wanted to make Kokichi see the things from your perspective, you wanted for him to stop messing with everyone and just try to find a way out of there, a way to end with the killing game with everyone else, into the other hand Kokichi just insisted on his own plan, he insisted that you shouldn't trust anyone in there and that he himself will end with the killing, even if he has to do it alone. The stress were making both stubborn, even it were making you lose your patient, however the problem comes with Kokichi, he was starting to feel desperate and stop thinking on what he was saying and just start to compare you to Kaede, remember what happen to her! she tried to help everyone and now she is gone! Do you really want to end up like her? You can't trust in anyone in here! Heck, you shouldn't even trust in him! He can easily being planning something against you too!

What Kokichi told you hurt, it hurt a lot, the discussion was escalating rapidly, it was just rising and rising in tone, even if you tried to cut him and go away it was too late because your argument bring the attention of the Monokubs, now under the lead of Monodam and he can't just let this happen, everyone is supposed to be friends and don't argument like this

It was just like an instinct for you to shield Kokichi, you were always like this, standing up for him when he gets into problems for messing with someone and trying to calm the other person, so this time you, once again, stand in front of Kokichi like hidding him and tried to reason with Monodam, you tried to tell him that everything was alright, you two are friends and get along really well he doesn't have anything to worry about, but Monodam heard your angry voice, and the hurtful words Kokichi had told you a moment ago it still hurts, as much as you tried to put an smile and look calm the sadness was all over your face and tears were close to fall from your eyes

Monodam obsesion for everyone being friends blind him from understanding that the situation was stressful, that in this kind of situation will be normal to break out just like how you two were just doing, he just take your obvious signs of sadness to say that you two weren't friends and he can't alow that, since now he took the control from Monokuma he has the power to punish the students, his plan was to just give the two of you a lesson, hopefuly after this you two will be friends, but human bodies are diferent from the bodies of his robots siblings and the hit were too hard for you to handle, and since you were shielding Kokichi you were the only one who recived the attack

To Kokichi was like it happened is slow motion, he isn't able to react until your body hit the floor, screaming in desesperation your name he runs to your side, with tears in his eyes he kneel by your side and check all over you, the hit was really hard, the exterior of your body maybe doesn't look too bad but the internal damage was the problem, there is no way to help you now (specially since no one in the academy has the profesional knowledge to do so), from this point there is nothing else to do than wait for your death

Even if Monodam understand what he have done Kokichi won't let him get near you again, not him, not the other Monokubs, not even the other students, he isn't going to let anyone get near you for a long time. On your last moments Kokichi can't do anything else than cry and beg you to please don't leave him, this whole time he just wanted to make sure that you two could get away from that stupid killing game and now, for his stupidity, he is going to lose you

When Kokichi finally start to calm down he quietly apologize to you and promise to end with the killing game for you, even if you weren't hearing him anymore

After Kokichi calms down he returns to his normal self, he isn't going to let anyone see how sad he is, how hurt he is nor how much he miss you or how much he blame himself for your death. However the others can intuit it since he doesn't let anyone talk about you, not even if is something good he imediatly gets irritated and scream at them, also he never tell anyone what happened, if they want to know how you died they will have to find out themself because he isn't going to tell them (nor Monodam, he is too ashame for what he had done)

After this Kokichi is more motivated and eager to end with this stupid killing game, he doesn't care what he has to do nor even if he has to put himself at risk, he is going to to finish this hell for you

Wait?? Miu/Ryoma? Can you explain this one?

It briefly came up before, but swapping around Ryoma and Gonta's narrative places improves both characters. (at the cost of two less chapters of my boi, but what can you do?)

This way, it makes Gonta's inferiority complex an actual tragedy, and not just blamed 100% on Kokichi. Gonta felt so useless and guilty about how much of a hindrance he was trial 1, he devotes his days to helping Himiko with her magic show, since that is something he can do! He tries to get everyone their videos (I'm imaging Kokichi had nothing to do with it in this timeline, and he and Ryoma had another plan- maybe sealing the exits.) because he's okay with the group hating him so long as he's helpful. He tries to help Kirumi out- but keeps making things worse since he has no idea how to do any maid stuff.

Eventually, Kirumi cracks from the stress she's been put under all chapter, and yells at Gonta. Gonta breaks down, and asks if there is anything, anything at all he can do to be useful. Kirumi, having seen her motive at this point, says: then perish.

(to improve Kirumi's chapter 2 characterization, Gonta makes a lot of the mistakes that get her caught while setting up her murder plan for her. She's a perfectionist, but Gonta absolutely would make those mistakes if he was trying to follow instructions.)

As for chapter 4, Kokichi and Ryoma have been working together for several chapters at this point. (it'd be cool if Kokichi learned lockpicking from Ryoma, to show Kokichi did indeed value the relationship.) Since Ryoma is a smart guy, he 100% knows Kokichi is full of shit, but he takes Kokichi's increasingly silly lies and reasons to live anyway, since he can't prove they aren't true.

To make Kokichi less OP, it is Ryoma, not him, that notices Miu is planning to kill to escape. Ryoma has killed before, he knows the look of somebody who's made up their mind.

I'd have Ryoma sabotage Kokichi's headset to cause the memory error, since whatever happens, Kokichi wouldn't have to live with the trauma this way.

Then, the two of them stumble upon the motive. (that one is still on Kokichi, since he wanted to do something nice for Ryoma.)

Ryoma has long accepted he'd rather be dead then to live a meaningless existence in prison. Him realizing nobody has a reason to live, and to escape, would absolutely cause him to mercy kill. Kokichi figured out what he was thinking, and claims the chapter 4 motive was a lie. Ryoma doesn't buy it, since he knows when Kokichi is full of shit.

Kokichi visits Miu, while Ryoma secretly follows him. The rest of the actual case proceeds as normal.

Putting a character like Kokichi in a situation where he doesn't KNOW what the truth is, and thinks he genuinely might have murdered Miu would be way better than the clusterfuck of Kokichi's chapter 4 characterization. And like hell is Kokichi going to die here!

This also works way better thematically with chapter 6. Lies saved early chapter Ryoma's life and gave him purpose, but he overdid it and became obsessive.

Do go off about the logical fallacies in Chapter 4, I always thought something was off about it. I'm curious to know your thoughts

Oh... if you insist... (currently bouncing off the walls with excitement ask??? I love answering ask—) ahem.

I suppose I can categorize my perceptions of Chapter 4 into levels of objectivity, with the highest being "I'm sure anyone with reading comprehension can understand the point I'm making and how this logic plays out" and the lowest being "I'm just petty about this"

Disclaimer: I'm a Kokichi liker but I kinda bash the guy in here. I insist it's out of a sense of love, as in "why the hell did you do that you little—" (my point is maybe don't read this if you're too too attached to Kokichi and don't like the insinuation that he did some bad stuff. Generally I assume this is a safe topic though.)

Let's start with my most objective take!

The murder setup was kinda garbage (might rephrase this heading later) (I didn't. fight me)

I know this sounds like opinion but hear me out. This is where the phrase "logical fallacy" really comes into play.

Let's outline Chapter 4 real quick. Miu is planning to kill Kokichi, and obviously Kokichi doesn't want this.

What are Kokichi's options from here? Apparently, one of them is reusing the motive from earlier in the chapter (the truth of the outside world) on Gonta to convince him to kill Miu under the guise of a mercy kill plan. This way, Kokichi doesn't die. This is what happens.

There's a lot to be speculated about regarding Kokichi's motivation for enacting this plan, but let's take the view that, first and foremost, Kokichi did not want to die to Miu.

With that out of the way, let's move on to the next piece of this defective puzzle: Miu's motive. We can cover this in two parts:

Part 1: Miu wants to kill Kokichi to escape the academy.

We can assume this much because she tried to set up a murder that would be near impossible to solve, as she would have had power over all the information available regarding the workings of the virtual world.

Kokichi makes the point in trial 4 that Miu coerced everyone to enter the virtual world so that she could manipulate the setting of the crime completely. She wanted to set up a murder that looked like it could only have happened in real life, while withholding the information that would reveal it was possible in the virtual world.

Kokichi was the only one who knew quite a few of the finer details that allowed case 4 to be solved, and she planned to kill him anyway, meaning these details wouldn't have come to light. Since her intent was an unsolvable murder, she wanted to get away with it and escape.

Part 2: For what reason did Miu want to escape?

We can see that she wanted to change the outside world with her inventions based on her own words in Chapter 4. In a flashback of the moments before she was killed, seen in the Chapter 4 post-trial, she explains this explicitly.

Her belief is that the outside world can be saved if she can only escape back out into it. She believes this is her duty as the Ultimate Inventor.

And finally, we reach the point that the logical fallacy falls into place. If we first assume that Kokichi Oma is a cunning individual who plans things out meticulously and considers all possibilities (thus allowing him to do ridiculously clever things like plan his own, truly unsolvable murder and write an entire script of dialogue for Kaito to use in trial 5), then we can assume that his actions in Chapter 4 are reflective of what he views as his optimal plan.

And yes, in-game evidence shows that we are, in fact, to believe that Kokichi Oma is inhumanly smart and analytical. A script. A SCRIPT, with lines for every possibility he could possibly envision. It's a freaking tome of borderline clairvoyance ahksfwosfawei (as you may notice I do not like the existence of Kokichi's script. A SCRIPT. I may be a Kokichi liker but am I really supposed to believe he's a freaking clairvoyant????? like can't you clairvoyant the end of the killing game bro????? and I adfkaweoiefdfshkj)

See, the thing is... Kokichi's optimal plan, having Gonta murder Miu... is... not... optimal...

There's an alternative solution. All the pieces are in place for it to work. And the salt in the wound, the twist of the knife...

...Is that Kokichi himself already knew the mechanism I'm about to propose.

If Kokichi wanted to survive Chapter 4, he could have removed Miu's motive to leave.

Using the already planted Flashback Light in the Virtual World which contained the memories of the true outside world, Kokichi could have demotivated Miu from even killing him. Her motive was saving the outside world, and Kokichi had what would have been irrefutable evidence that the outside world was unsaveable.

This logical fallacy could be explained by reasoning that Kokichi's motive for having Miu killed was not only to survive, but what then? What would Kokichi's motive have been otherwise? Maintaining a mastermind act?

Why would he even need to do that if he could have lobotomized the killing game by letting everyone find the Flashback Light in Chapter 4 to begin with?

Maybe that means the logical fallacy stems from the ultimate use of the outside world motive in Chapter 5, when the truth of the outside world is used by Kokichi to demotivate the entire group. If, say, seeing the outside world led everyone to become bloodthirsty for some reason (?) then I guess that dodges the fallacy?(??????) It's just kind of a garbage motive in general... it didn't even work as a motive when Kokichi used it, and it demotivated the others. Makes you wonder why it was even included.

I guess my point is that the logic really doesn't add up in Chapter 4 and 5 in exchange for some thoughtless added drama. Y'know, typical writing issues stuff.

Um... I spent quite a while writing this one part up, and this is the view that I care about most, so I might split the others into another post, if I even do another one.

In case I don't, I'll just do a quick overview because they're really not nearly as necessary to explain in depth:

The cord switching bit. With the rest of the Virtual World segment riffing off of games and gaming knowledge, the dissolution of suspension of disbelief hit me like a truck when I was told to believe that Gonta reversed the cords and the whole thing basically ran fine, with just the one issue of memories not transferring back. I... am a modder. I type C007_Ki-bo instead of C007_Ki-Bo, the game crashes. Hell, even without being a modder, I have a drawing tablet with 3 cords and if I don't plug them in right, it won't do anything (duh). No way am I buying this.

Not a logical fallacy, but more of a story writing shortcoming. It kinda sucks that Gonta barely had a substantial role in this chapter despite being the culprit. He didn't plan the murder he committed, and he didn't defend himself for the murder he committed. I get that the idea was probably to make a case centered around Kokichi more than Gonta, but (and I say this as a Kokichi liker) we see enough of Mister Oma as it is. Too much, maybe even. (I mean Kokichi has Chapter 5. He DIES in the Chapter 5 case but still plays a role in the trial. And we're really gonna just have him take over trial 4 when Gonta isn't seen for the rest of the game?)

(content: discontent towards Kaito) Also not a logical fallacy. Maybe not that much of a fallacy at all. I might just be petty but I thought Kaito was cringe the whole time. (okay me and Seb literally had to get up, close the game, and go take a walk outside because we were losing it from everything Kaito was saying. DO YOU???? NOT KNOW WHAT A HYPOCRITE IS????????)

A bit of a shill I guess, but I did write two fanfics which were heavily influenced by my views on chapters 4 and 5, which tried to remedy these fallacies and others in V3. Canon-compliant Bloodied Hands renders Tsumugi the ultimate mastermind behind every murder (not just Rantaro's) with her dramatic meddling leading to the emergence of V3's logical fallacies, while The World is His takes the same premise, just diverging from canon such that Kokichi lives.

Ougoku flowershop worker x tattoo artist au concepts and excerpts the zorp into my brain

Thinking of writing something for ao3 but my brain cant stay in one place'

Hope's peak academy' is now a research based university. Students are all adults, except a certain protected few. ('warriors of hope' who got in by recommendation and to get away from abusive family?)

but i'm getting off topic...

Gonta Gokuhara, lost in the forests for near a decade, gained incredible insight into insects, found by his rich and well-known family and rightfully dubbed the 'Ultimate Entomologist', now also works part time at a (his family's ?) florist shop. Sweet guy, a gentle giant who's more than happy to teach and learn about the flora that house and nurture his 'bug friends'. With his ways of somehow understanding what the bugs in the gardens were after, he was a perfect candidate for growing the produce. (will continue on how he's such a great florist later bc now it's time for!)

Ouma Kokichi, short guy with baggy clothes and a sharp mouth that just seems to love playing pranks on friends and unruly customers alike, that's all random people know about him anyway. A closer friend group consisting of his classmates from HPA would know the grape as someone whose a lot smarter and agile than he seems - and like playing pranks on his friends. He runs a tattoo parlor with 9 other people who blend into the background and pop out seemingly whenever they please, though he always says there are 10 to those who come, where's the last one? hhh Essentially a smart guy who doesn't show it, and goes on a lot of insanely well planned escapades with his colleagues in between work hours. Such successful escapedes and all round leadership of his group got him scouted by the uni - dubbing him the 'Ultimate Supreme Leader' - not that he'll ever tell anyone exactly how. His talent is real, the detail are between him, his team and the appointed teaching facilities at the HPA now take that or leave (he says to a prettyyy nosy customer who won't stop questioning the grape while he's sticking a needle :) into :) their :) skin :) )

Want Gonta to have a flower in his hair or a bunched of them scattered around in a florist uniformm.

Should i have Ouma have his dice uniform here or nah? just petty crime. Still his uniform would be convenient for hiding him. Here he'd have almost sleeve tattoos (or a number of tattoos on his arms and back but still pretty notable gaps here and there). For his uniform, it could be a simple black vest/shirt and baggy grey joggers lol. comfy clothes for the long sittings, sketching and chatting to customers. His Dice uniform would be pretty similar. 'Cept his cape can be buttoned up into a kind of shawl/poncho for easier movement. Ditches the hat for parkour missions hmmm.

How do they meet?

Gonta walking past the tatooshop longingly, his parents look down on such things harming his skin (its scarred already, they whispered when they thought he couldn't here. When he was in the forest, all the fighters he met said they were things to praise! His human family uttered it like it a bitter to their tongues). He usually sees a variety of people busting around, enough to be able to pick out which were the workers, they all wore similar white articles of clothing and despite being wildly physically different you could just tell they were all together. He walked and looked into the shop windows enough times for the workers to recognize him and give him a wave or a wink mid-work when he looked in. This time should've been no different. He's carrying some planters and rough stems back to the shop when he looks into the clown's stomping ground - they seemed to be having a break

edit - tldr gonta would like a nice tatto but his parents look down on it, slightly envies the tatto workers carefree nature.

kokichi catches a glimpse of him here thru DICE's chatting and throws a casual smirks that gonta freezes at for half a second before a light blush brushes his cheeks and he leaves the storefront.. for nyow(?)

One or two of the dice members take notice and tease kokichi abt it a little bit. laughter , this, that, bleh.

The dorky guys face and totally weird glasses dont seem to leave his mind tho and he offhandedly thinks of making a more lasting impression next time they meet

Ouma going to the flowershop, in his casual gear, hair in the usual mess, out of his pony tail with his signature upwards side curls, a beach outfit in the middle of autumn and star sunglasses he got on the way.

'makes a joke with the guard who holds back a chuckle before -jokingly- shoving him inside. the newcomer's laughter is heard throughout the shop. He strides in and admires all the admitably gorgeous bouqets decorating the walls and walks up to the cashier. Brown haired person with an affininty for green they seem nice,

edit 2 - ey that's chihiro! Ouma and him are on decent term i think with some light bickering here and there. they respect each others talents and work they do b hrkk.

Chihiro - Gonta get the (florist speak witches brew, eye of frog times by two) -- heh heh, fancy flower speak, idk yet--

and he turns to see what he's been offered when he sees a familiar guy with wild green hair and an armful of flowers. The leader's face blanks as one single thought flashes through his mind.

Oh no fucking way...

Do you think whenever Kokichi said "It was a lie" or "That's a lie", he was actually trying to tell them that the game/the reality is a lie? Like, he somehow knew that everything was faked, but he couldn't outright say it because he was either being watched and couldn't risk it or he literally couldn't, so he says "It's a lie" around Shuichi since he hopes that he could figure out what he actually means. Being an ultimate detective and all.

And lo and behold, the one who figured out what Kokichi really meant was Kaito

Hmmmm Y'know one of the key parts of my interpretation of Kokichi is that he's kind of just as clueless as everyone else about what's going on from the very beginning. Kokichi's smart, so I think he picked up on the weirdness of the situation quicker than the others (especially since he probably spent a good amount of his time fucking off by himself and exploring with his lock picking abilities) but I feel very strongly that he was only slightly ahead, and never had all the answers.

I kinda dislike it when Kokichi is portrayed as someone who figured everything out quickly and is trying to communicate this knowledge to everyone else in code, cause often times its accompanied with implications that the rest of the cast is stupid or only getting in his way or just frustrating to interact with. That Kokichi is the only threat to the killing game and everyone else is just passively surviving. I Do think Kokichi indirectly tries to get Shuichi and others to pick up on some of the things he's figured out by lying or saying weird shit and then saying that it was a lie. He knows that if he speaks directly about some of the stuff he wants to say, it'll put a target on his back. But I also think sometimes, he's just lying. Because he does genuinely enjoy lying if it makes things more interesting. And Sometimes, he's asserting what he thinks is true, but just straight up got it wrong.

I think his character is so much more interesting if Kokichi is just someone who doesn't have all the answers and is trying his best. I think Kokichi HIGHLY suspected, if he wasn't convinced, that they were being watched starting in ch5. But he didn't know the depth of ultimate real fiction, or that V3 was a TV show, and I feel especially strongly that he wasn't even all that suspicious of Tsumugi wrt being the mastermind.

When Kokichi is just a clever person with layers of issues and repression preventing him from working with others. When he's just an ultimate leader trying to lead* his classmates so he can try to get as many of them out of the killing game as possible while keeping them at arms length not only due to his own repression but so that he can be "pragmatic" and sacrifice pawns he deems necessary for the overall cause. When he genuinely needs other people's help to achieve his goals and for so long doesn't take any but eventually requests the help of someone so different from him (Kaito). I find that way more interesting.

"Hey, detective."

The words came drawled from the window, Kokichi sat on the windowsill, back against the side and one leg dangling outside. He was the epitome of suaveness—or at least so he hoped. He hadn't awkwardly gotten into this position to not look flirtatious.

"So," —he threw his leg over the ledge and hopped to his feet— "this is where you work?" He was strolling through, hands locked between his back. "It could use some color. But anyway!" He freed his hands, bounding over to Shuichi and seating himself directly on his desk. He placed his hand over Shuichi's paperwork and leaned in close—he wanted his full attention. "It's this late and you're doing boring paperwork? Jeez, you must really miss me. I know I've haven't been around for awhile, but. . ." He trailed off, twirling a strand of his hair around his finger oh-so-innocently.

"Anyway, you know what we've never done and have allllll the time in the world for now?" He paused for dramatic effect, then announced, "Hanging out, obviously! It doesn't even have to be a date." But, of course, his lips curled into a smile, one part teasing and two parts honest. "Unless you want it to be a date. Then I'm totally asking you out on a date. Like, right now. No time to waste, come on!"

And, just like that, he was on his feet and tugging at Shuichi's sleeve.

Working late into the night on paperwork while still at the office: not an unusual sight to find the detective. Shuichi was the only one there now, nothing but the quiet ambience of the night and the scribbling of his pen filling the room. And as he silently works on his paperwork...

"......." He found himself thinking about a certain phantom thief. There were times where they would not see each other for a while, something Shuichi had grown accustomed to; yet each time, he found himself missing Kokichi more and more each time. Wondering what he's up to, jokingly wondering to himself if he did something stupid and got himself arrested.... but he knew he was too smart to ever let that happen to himself.

Between being focused on his paperwork, and in thoughts, when Kokichi greeted him-"?!" His head instantly snapped at the direction of the window, eyes widened and mouth slightly agape. "K.... Kokichi...!!" The moment he started thinking about him, there he was, he thought to himself. Mixed in with the surprise of seeing him there, was a bubble up of happiness racing in his heart, seeing the man he had been missing more than he thought. But as the surprise started to die down, that’s when he noticed the way he was flirtatiously sitting on the window. “Hey there...What’s this, now: trying to woo me, mister thief? Hah.” He couldn’t help but tease, playful smirk on his face. But the way his cheeks turned a light red, indicated that it definitely worked. He was always so weak to Kokichi when he flirted with him like that.

He watches Kokichi fully climb in and stroll around, giving a curious head tilt at his question. “Hm? Oh-” That made him realize that this was the first time Kokichi was really seeing the specific section where Shuichi works at. He just swats his hand in the air at his little critique. “I’m not exactly an interior designer, you could say.” Kokichi climbing onto is desk, then placing his hand over his paperwork makes a soft ‘Ah-’ leave him, staring down at it before staring up at him... heart doing a quick thump when seeing his face much closer up, now.. He got Shuichi’s full attention for sure. “W...Well, I wasn’t feeling particularly tired tonight, so I thought it wouldn’t hurt to get some paperwork done.” He mutters. And at the implication he missed him, his eyes shyly dart down. “W-What the heck... were you reading my mind or something? I mean...” It really must have shown on his face.... which made him feel a little embarrassed, but it was something he couldn’t deny. He truly did miss him... “...P....Perhaps... I mean, how couldn’t I miss the times you drive me crazy, and have me chase you down until my legs practically give out?” He laughs, finally looking back up at him with a shy, but warm smile. “...That was not sarcasm, by the way. It really is... good to see you again, Kokichi. I did miss you. Idiot...”

The word rolls of his tongue affectionately, and as he sees him twirl his hair, goes to also oh-so-innocently jab the bottom part of his pen into his cheek, an airy chuckle leaving him. The warmth in his gaze, in his smile: it was a special kind, that he found himself only ever giving Kokichi. Only when the other speaks back up again, does he snap out of it. “Oh...?” With bated breath, he awaits his response. Then when he says it, he blinks in surprise before repeating after him: “Hanging out? Well...” He gazes down at his paperwork once more, before back up at Kokichi, and gives a slow nod. “I-I... suppose we do, yes.” Since there was no way he was going to continue paperwork right now; not that he would want to, anyway. Plus, it was not something that needed to be fully completed tonight. For once, the workaholic detective would just leave the rest for tomorrow. At the consideration that it could be a date if Shuichi wanted to see it that way, his cheeks grow a worse shade of red. “D...Date, huh...” He could feel his heart starting to race again. Shuichi.. happily did not mind to look at it that way. In fact, maybe he wanted it to be Kokichi asking him out on a date. He liked it that way a lot more.... “Erm....w-well... I s...suppose you’re asking me out on a date, then, huh.... H-Hahaha.... ah-!” He emits a surprised noise at the sudden tugging at his sleeve, which prompts him to quickly start getting up, too.

“O-Okay! But wait, where did you want to go, exactly? Is anything even still open at this time...!”

Who are the top 5 people who you would argue that Kokichi is close with?

If 5 are too many people for Kokichi's standards then you can lower the number lol.

Aaaa this is such a good question!!

Firstly, I want to say during the killing game I think it was very hard with someone like Kokichi to be considered close with someone. So i'll just try to point out the dynamics that were probably significant enough for his character and why I think that dynamic would be considered "good" in Kokichi's standards.

This is mainly just my personal view so please don't attack me and thank you!

There is no particular order in this take.

1. Kiibo and Kokichi:

I think this one is pretty self-explanatory but i'll try my best to breakdown why I think Kokichi would and could have been pretty close to Kiibo.

For starters, Kiibo is very empathetic but he isn't gulliable like Gonta. He knows where to draw the line with Kokichi's misgivings but that doesn't take away the fact that he really does acknowledge Kokichi as his own person.

He also doesn't actively antagonize Kokichi. For example: when everyone looked at Kokichi as the black sheep when he warned Gonta that being gulliable could get him killed, Kiibo was the only one who didn't see any harm in his advice.

Kiibo is a great friend to Kokichi, even though Kokichi constantly belittles him, Kiibo still tries his best to treat him with kindness.

What I really like about their dynamic is how Kiibo tries his outmost best to see eye to eye with him.

Kokichi's teases him constantly, he does that to try to push him away. Why does he try to push Kiibo away? Because someone is finally trying to break down Kokichi's true nature and it touches him and scares him at the same time, he doesn't know how to react.

In ch5, when Kokichi had already revealed he was the mastermind, Kiibo wanted to talk with him first so that Kokichi and the others wouldn’t resort to violence.

This tells us a lot about Kiibo as a character, and it tells us a lot about where he stands with Kokichi.

Kokichi didn't fully trust Kiibo during the killing game, some speculate that its because of the possibility that Kokichi thought that Kiibo could have been an elaborated robot created by the mastermind.

But that doesn't take away the fact that Kiibo's intentions to understand and befriend Kokichi are pure.

All in all, Kiibo was the only one who actually believed in Kokichi's last words while everyone swiftly brushed it off as lies.

I think its evident that Kokichi kept everyone at arms lenght because of his trust issues but I think that if a killing game wasn't a thing they would have defiently been good friends.

During the UTDP and DS games they have multiple interactions were Kiibo makes Kokichi let his guard down for a small moment.

Kiibo really would have been a necesarry friend for Kokichi to have—someone who accepts him as who he is yet someone who draws the line when he goes too far.

2. Miu and Kokichi

Right now you are probably thinking: "whaaat? But she tried to kill him and she tried to kill her! How could you ever consider these two to be close?"

Allow me to quickly get that argument out of the way.

Miu didn't want to kill Kokichi just for the sake of killing Kokichi. She choose him for a reason, but it wasn't because she hated him.

Why did she plan on killing him? Because she is aware of how smart he actually is. Her two options were to kill either Shuichi or Kokichi, she choose to kill Kokichi because she has done plenty of inventions for him and it would have been much less suspicious for these two to hang out in her lab (even for Kokichi himself it would be less suspicious) than for her to tell Shuichi to help her out with an invention when they rarely spent time alone or worked on any blueprints or inventioms together besides the one with Kaede in ch1.

Not only that, but she felt regretful for what she was about to do to Kokichi and even apologized to him beforehand. She didn't mock him at all, she felt genuienly bad.

And now you're probably thinking "okay maybe Miu didn't really want to kill him just because she hates him but what about Kokichi? He could have prevented all of this!"

Actually, before entering the virtual world, Kokichi actually tests Miu's willingness to see if she would actually go through killing him. Begging is not something Miu would do so lightly considering her arrogance.

He also gave out so many hints multiple times infront of Miu, he even questioned Miu various times in the virtual world, showing her that he was aware that she was up to something and trying to make her not go through with what she wanted to do.

He also gave Gonta an open choice, he didn't manipulate him, did he direct him towards the decision? Yes. But he never forced him to do anything, Gonta killed Miu on his own free will and actively agreed with Kokichi's "killing everyone is the best choice" mindset.

Actually, after Gonta killed Miu, Kokichi was acting super angry at him during the rest of the trip on the virtual world. It's as if a part of him hoped Gonta maybe would have backed down on the plan, but Gonta actually accepted the plan with little to no hesitation.

And anyone can fight me on this but post- class trial in ch4 you can just tell Kokichi feels regretful as hell for what he did to both Miu and Gonta. He goes through the lenghts of wanting to actually get killed alongside Gonta. And before anyone tells me he was lying about that, theres so many points that prove quite the opposite.

Maybe Kokichi could have prevented her from getting killed but he would have never been able to actually stop her blood-thirst.

Alright, with all of this out of the way, let me explain why I think Miu and Kokichi was a significant bond to Kokichi himself, excluding the obvious chapter 4 ordeal.

Even during the killing game, Miu and Kokichi seemed comfortable with each other, no masks, no forced antagonism, just both of them genuinely bitching at each other and revelling in being unpleasant.

During the ch1 class trial, when Kokichi called Kaede out telling her that she did save their lives but she did exactly what the mastermind wanted in the first place, she became a puppet for the mastermind to use.

Miu actually sided with Kokichi because as cruel as his words were, he wasn't wrong. She backed him up before Tsumugi could even finish her sentence.

On another note, Kokichi is also one of the only people who is able to genuienly handle Miu's lewd insults and jokes.

While everyone else gets disgusted by her insults/jokes or shut her down, Kokichi easily just fires the lewd insult or joke back at her.

Actually, I remember someone pointing out on once how Kokichi never yells at Miu, and although this seems pretty unimportant considering he always calls her horrible sets of nicknames but thats exactly what makes all of this so sly.

Miu's demeanor completley shifts the moment someone yells at her, because of her upbriniging she isn't used to get yelled at so she actually gets shaken by it.

The fact Kokichi found a surprisingly gentler way to handle her and quiet her down shows how observant he is of others behaviors. Plus, Miu being the massochist that she is, actually doesn't mind the insults and actually sort of likes them.

Also, the fact that Kokichi who has major trust issues had to put his trust in Miu enough on the inventions he asked her to make, and also how he also trusted her enough to tell her about his plan to revolt against Monokuma.

Then theres Miu who entrusted Kokichi with her actual fears of betrayl and also how she considers Kokichi's saftey enough to warn him against working with other people, then it makes it even better how Kokichi didn't mock her fears and genuienly listened to her concerns.

During ch5, Kokichi points out how Miu's constant loneliness and unwillingness to trust others is what made her want to kill, he tells the others about the conversation he and Miu shared and you can just tell he feels regretful about what went down with the two of them.

Danganronpa DS provided us with a few interactions between the two and you can tell that they do get along in their own wierd ways.

Isn't it funny that in the DS Kokichi and Kazuichi's event, Kokichi was indirectly calling Miu better than Kazuichi while roasting her in the same breath? Pure art.

3. Gonta and Kokichi

Things went down in ch4 and i'm never going to justify Kokichi for it, but lets take into account that Gonta had free will the whole entire time. Before anyone starts calling me out on victim blaming or something, let me explain my reasoning.

Kokichi did lead Gonta to the flashback light, but when Kokichi broke down the plan to Gonta, he actively agrees with Kokichi's "mass killing to save everyone" mindset.

Of course, Kokichi lead him to make a decision like that but in the end Gonta accepted it. Kokichi never blackmailed him or manipulated his thoughts, Gonta commited the murder because in the end he did think that it was the best plan when he found out the secret of the outside world.

Gonta has a moral code and knows whats right and wrong, he agreed to kill Miu with no loopholes whatsoever. Although Kokichi lead him to those murderous thoughts, he also gave him a free choice to act on them or to not act on them.

Besides, Kokichi felt crazily guilty over everything that went down in ch4. He lost his composure multiple times during the class trial, he was more eager and constantly yelling at everyone, he even went as far as yelling at Kaito, which shows how he couldn't even keep his carefree composure infront of his rival.

In the end of the class trial, Kokichi is genuienly crying and begging to be punished alongside Gonta. Theres people who think he was lying here, but I disagree greatly.

Kokichi was saying a lot of things here that didn't seem like simple lies, not to mention these crying sprites were rarely even used during earlier parts of the game.

Plus, Kokichi begging to be executed alongside Gonta actually did put his own life at risk. If Kokichi was doing all this just for the act he wouldn't have gone as far as saying this.

He has no idea if Monokuma would've denied or accepted his request since theres never been an incident like this before so why would he say something so risky if he was actually lying?

Kokichi claims he was lying about caring for Gonta so that he wouldn't attack Kokichi but thats the biggest bullshit I have ever heard in my life.

Gonta's initial reaction to realizing that he was tricked by Kokichi to do murder was literally just him in tears asking if all of this was a trick done by Kokichi. He wasn't resorting to violence and Kokichi who is hyper aware of others behaviors knows that himself, so he wouldn't have to lie to make Gonta not hurt him.

Plus, Kokichi is smart enough to know the rules of this school. If Gonta tried to be violent Monokuma would've easily restrained him.

Actually, if Kokichi wanted to strenghten his mastermind plan, he could have acted cruely minutes before the execution but he was so hurt by what happened that he couldn't even keep up his facade and compusure to do it.

And our sweet boy Gonta tells the rest of the cast to not blame it all on Kokichi. He just wants everyone to continue to stay friends, and he asks Kokichi to promise him they would all get along, Kokichi promises him that to give Gonta a sense of peace because he damn well knows these people would never try to get along with him.

Even after Kokichi's wrongdoings, Gonta still cared for him and accepted him for who he was. He always considered him a friend no matter what.

Most importantly, lets take a look at Kokichi's state after Gonta was killed.

Kokichi had never reacted this greatly over an execution, he was silent and wasn't able to regain his composure after Gonta's death, it wasn't until Maki and Kaito kept pressing him about the flashback light when he snapped.

His feelings were basically being trampled on before and after Gonta's execution. The cast instead of understanding Kokichi needed space and time to grieve they start asking him about the one thing that got Gonta killed—the flashback light itself.

Besides Gonta and Kokichi's dynamic in the killing game, the UTDP and DS events they share together prove to us how much Kokichi estimates and cares for Gonta and how much Gonta cares back.

I would also like to quickly mention that Kokichi tells Gonta that he isn't boring which is a big compliment in his own standards.

They have a lot of significant conversations and most of them have Kokichi put his guard down for a second to express his genuine concern towards Gonta.

And although UTDP and DS aren't canon, they are still Danganronpa licensed games that are just non-despair au's. Supposedly, these games are reflections of what could've been.

4. Kaede and Kokichi

This was a very short-lived dynamic but a significant one at that. Their relationship was was interesting because Kokichi gradually helped shape Kaede's perspective while Kaede inspired Kokichi.

Unlike Kaito, Kaede did take some of Kokichi's words and advice into consideration. A clear example of this is when everyone was getting memtally and physically exhausted from trying to escape from the exit and she kept on insisting to keep trying.

Kokichi is speaking for everyone here, they were all emotionally exhausted and needed a mental break.

He tells Kaede that she can keep trying on her own but that she shouldn't drag everyone down with her. He then reasonably snaps and tell her that what shes doing isn't inspiring them but strong-arming them.

That specific line strikes Kaede and she realizes she was actually indirectly harming everyone. Thanks to Kokichi snapping at her, she leveled her positivity back to a natural level.

She is one of the only characters in V3 who actively takes in some of Kokichi's words, the ones she feels that genuienly carry importance.

In the end of the first class trial, Kokichi tells Kaede a very cruel and harsh truth, he tells her how the moment murder filled her brain, she became the masterminds bait. Kaede doesn't shut down Kokichi and tells the rest that Kokichi isn’t wrong.

And lets not forget that Kokichi bestowed Kaede one of his most genuine compliments.

Believe it or not, Kaede did inspire Kokichi. Shortly after her death, he quickly started to make blueprints and requesting Miu to make inventions so that they can all work together to revolt against Monokuma and the Monokubs.

In the ch5 conversation that Kokichi mentioned that he had with Miu, he seemed pretty hopefull about the idea of working together until Miu tells Kokichi her own fears which causes Kokichi to realize that coaporation can lead to betrayl if you're not smart enough.

That doesn't take away the inspiration that Kaede fuels in him which causes him to make a complete 180 and pretends to be the mastermind to try and end the killing game, even if it means his death to follow suit.

Honorable mentions:

1. Kaito and Kokichi:

Hear me out, I absolutely love rivals, but these two were done pretty bad in my personal opinion.

I enjoy when rivals come completley full cycle. Take Komahina's dynamic as an example, Hajime tried to understand Nagito and thanks to him being the only person who genuienly to get his true intentions, he got to solve the ch5 case based on his full understanding of Nagito.

This makes the rivalry come in full cycle, Hajime barely comprehending Nagito to Hajime finally being able to understand him which helped save him and the others.

Kaito and Kokichi's rivalry on the other hand had so much potential thrown in a flaming piece of garbage.

Kaito and Kokichi's concept at first glance seems promising, but do you know what completely crushes their dynamic? Kaito not believing in his last words.

Rivals working together in storylines is usually a way to make said characters to realize each others worldviews.

Kokichi understood Kaito since the beggining, hes very analytical of others behaviors. Kaito on the other hand, never once bothered to get to know Kokichi and brushed everything about him as lies.

Kaito and Kokichi working together in ch5 could've given us a fantastic opportunity were Kaito realizes "Shit. This guy is fucked up but he also has feelings like all of us. He was in the same situation as us and I never treated him as such. I believe in his sacrifice and last words."

Kaito and Kokichi's development was one-sided since it was only done by Kokichi who even bestows Kaito his "you're not boring after all" compliment.

Kaito on the other hand says that Kokichi's sacrifice was selfish and that everything he said in his last dying moments were a lie.

Kaito and most of the v3 cast have every right to be upset by Kokichi, but to belittle his sacrifice and last vulnerable moments was a low blow.

This is the reason why Kaito and Kokichi's was an honerable mention and not in the list, this could have been a great dynamic were the characters foil each other but it was just very one-sided by Kokichi and then Kaito just constantly hates on him and doesn't put effort in understanding him.

However, I will add that their dynamic was necesarry for the storyline, thats the reason why I even added these two here.

I would also like to mention that they had very cute moments in the DS events, they have light banter and Kaito genuienly does try to understand Kokichi in these events. There are very bittersweet "what could've been" moments.

2. Shuichi and Kokichi:

I know people are probably mad that I put these two in a honorable mention but let me explain myself.

These two barley have any canon moments that actually are meaningful to both the characters.

Besides the "you will be alone" moment in ch4 and the "trustworthy" board on Kokichi's room this dynamic is very one-sided.

Shuichi himself wanted nothing to do with him half of the time and tried to avoid him constantly. Kokichi was the one who sort of persued to befriend him but Shuichi quickly shut him down because of his dyanamic with Kaito.

The reason they are even in my honerable mentions is because of how Shuichi's words affected Kokichi more than any other character after ch4.

When Shuichi tells Kokichi that he will forever be alone, he looses his compusure for a moment, he stutters, changes the subject and immedietly comes up with an excuse to leave. Shuichi's words evidently hit him and probably were part of the reason why he did what he did in ch5.

Kokichi having Shuichi as "trustworthy" on the board is a nice touch, but it would have been way more touching if their dynamic was actually explored more in canon. I think the reason Kokichi labeled him as "trustworthy" is because of how they all do rely on Shuichi's detective work and Shuichi never lead them to the wrong conclusion.

But the main reason I have them as an honerable mention is because of the ftes, these two had very nice ftes proving that Kokichi genuienly enjoys spending time with Shuichi, and in the ftes Shuichi actually worries when Kokichi accidently cut himself with the knife (in contrary to canon where he barely blinks an eye when Kokichi's head is bleeding in ch3).

The ftes show us a very interesting and fiery dynamic between the two that never got explored in canon.

I would also like to add the *cough* fanservice *cough* love hotel because not only did Kokichi see Shuichi as himself in the love hotel, but he also was one of the few characters that immedietly backed out when he realized he made Shuichi uncomfortable, plus can u believe that its only in the ftes and love hotels where Shuichi actually wants to know more about Kokichi? How sad tbh.

But anyways, Shuichi and Kokichi barley had any sort of dynamic in canon (the rivalry was practically unexistent since Kaito took the role as Kokichi's rival). But that doesn't take away the fact that Shuichi did impact Kokichi's character.

In conclusion...

- He's eating up all the attention you're giving him, though he tries not to cause you too much trouble

- You are literally an angel that he will silently worship, finally gave him a reason to believe in god again

- Can and will cuddle/hug/nuzzle you when he wants, and you do nothing about it other than return that affection

- Though he'll ask first before touching you, he knows his manners

- He's touch starved so you're effectively making him more clingy

- You're the one who patches him up after every "incident" with Kaito, and he melts at your touch

- Follows behind you like a lost puppy during school/work if he's allowed to do so

- Seems to whine when you leave

- "Why can't you just stay the night again?" "Kokichi, I don't live here..." "I can make arrangements for that to happen."

- Separation anxiety? Yes, very much so. He doesn't like being apart from you for more than a few days (though he'll usually show up at your house on day 2 of not talking to you/seeing you)

- He already felt safe with you before, but your motherly nature gives him a good excuse to sneak out and stay the night with you instead

- You certainly help his mental health improve, that's for sure, as well as his grades, jesus we all knew he was smart but now he can really show it off with pride

- You've probably carried him around a lot, mostly because of just how low energy he can be after school

- Jokingly called you "mom" once, will not be doing that again

Chapter 5. Full stop. I loved Kaito's character from the beginning and Kokichi grew on me but seeing their team up was 😍. I didn't originally ship it in a romantic context until I looked at the fan content and saw just how well the pairing works in a platonic as well as romantic lens. Plus I love a good narrative foil/enemies to lovers dynamic and they have the best I've seen.

2. What are your fave things about the ship?

Narrative foils, the fact that they understood each other better than anyone else despite hating each other, chaotic energy, smart boi/"dumb" boi, height difference, P U R P L E. But mostly the potential the ship has for so many different relationship dynamics. They work in any AU or situation. They came together during their hardest times so it's possible that under different circumstances they'd work as well. Domestically or casually, healthy or unhealthy, whatever you want to explore with the pairing, you can, and it'll stay in character for them. They're two great characters that become amazing when played off each other. Even in a platonic context.

3. Is there an unpopular opinion you have for your ship?

Idk what's popular and unpopular so imma just give a couple headcanons?? Lol.

• Kokichi is a very "show my love thru actions" type of person so he doesn't always say "I love you" or other mushy stuff (except in a teasing way) so he'll get gifts or show kind gestures esp if he accidentally (or purposely) pisses Kaito off, he'll do sweet things to make it up to him.

• Everything is a competition with them. Theyd do dumb shit like "who can give the other more kisses in a day" or "who can get the other a better gift". They're pretty even with who wins, but Kokichi is a much more insufferable winner.

• Kaito would propose first, he'd make it super romantic and perfect and just how Kokichi would want it. But then a week later, Kokichi also proposes in an even grander gesture because he "needs to make sure Kaito wants to marry him just as much as he does."

Kaimaki tho... It kind of teeters on the edge for me. I love both Kaito and Maki as characters, and their friendship is sweet and romantically it's cute, like seeing art and reading fics I always find it adorable but canonically... It feels more one sided than anything. So I'm gonna say

Don't Ship It:

1. Why don't you ship it?

Maki very obviously had feelings for Kaito, she literally says so. However, I relate to Maki in the sense that I've felt unwanted and unloved and struggled to love myself. And I've had people who come along and make me feel special, almost like a replacement for that self love I needed. I think Kaito is that someone to Maki. He cared for her, and saw the good in her when others seemed not to, and as sweet and romantic as that can be, it also has potential to lead to a misunderstanding and over idealization. So from I guess a personal stand point it's one of those "oh yikes this doesn't seem ideal" situations.

2. What would have made you ship it?

Probably if Kaito showed a bit more of reciprocation, but he doesn't. Also if maybe there was a moment of Maki realizing that Kaito kind of has a lot of issues too.

3. Despite not shipping it, do you have anything positive to say about it?

I think it still has potential. It's possible for them to grow and love each other in an equal way, but it requires a lot of effort on Kaito's part to bring down his walls for his friends. I think that Maki would need to also establish herself and understand who she is and what she truly wants because it's hard to tell if her feelings for him come from a genuine romantic love or if she simply loves the idea of Kaito. I just think it would end up very one sided without those things. Which, don't get me wrong, would still make for an interesting dynamic when it comes to exploring that part of their relationship.

Okay, here is the answer to that request, thanks for requesting it and I hope you like it anon and personally I have a lot of scars and everyone think they are from self harm even if they aren’t so just remeber that you are beautiful no matter what and that your scars only remember you of how you surivived to a hard time, love you all~♡

•And now you are here and you no longer self harm, that's more than enough to be proud of yourself

•And he wishes he could help you be more comfortable wearing short sleeves

•Because, well, you are going to melt if you wear those during summer

•Simmilar to Shuichi, she understand you perfectly

•She knows how it is to be full of scars, she has quite a lot of them too

•And she is always covering them so she is no one to talk

•But she wants you to know that she doesn't judges you, maybe you were a little weak back in the time (from Maki's point, I personally don't think so, remember that) but now you are a lot better and she knows you are very strong for being able to stop self harming

•She doesn't really help you feel more confident or something like that

•But she does show you her scars in repay for showing her yours

•And from that moment you two are always confident enough with each other to show your skin even if it has scars in it

•You are glad you have her, now you can be wearing short sleeves when you two watch a movie or play videogames at home

•She's glad too, she was about to burn alive with those clothes

•And at some point you two are so confident with each other that you completely forge about hiding the scars when you go out

•And when you realise that everyone can see them you also realise that you don't care about it anymore

➵Sadly... It was very late (5:09 am). He would think about that in the morning

➵He woke up late, with the sound of a call. But when he tried to answer, they cut the call. Damn, it could be you but he did not saw the name.

➵It was sunday, so he could think about it all the day. Maybe he could do that thing about writing a letter but hidding his identity... He did not wanted to start since 0! But if he had to... He was going to try.

➵He was all the day trying to write a letter that you may like. After lots of failed atempts, he did it. Morning, before you could go to school he put the letter at your locker

When a shadow loomed over you, you both sat up, squinting to see who was there.

The second you heard that voice you went pale, it was most definitely your ex-boyfriend, likely here to start something

Kiibo looked very confused, looking between you and your ex nervously

Gonta had taken you to a bug exhibit at the science museum! He was rushing all over the place, pointing out all the bugs to you and telling you their scientific names without pause.

While bugs weren’t exactly your favorite thing in the world, you loved watching Gonta when he got so excited, bouncing around like a small child.

You had been checking out some of the butterflies when you heard Gonta’s curious voice above the others in the exhibit, catching your attention.

“Gonta doesn't… understand.”

“Wow, she really knows how to pick’em, jeez. But yeah, I’m warning you, you’re going to catch her in bed with some bitch, she’s a total slut. I was smart enough to cut her the hell off before it happened and I recommend you do the same.”

Your ex walked off and Gonta looked even more confused, glancing from your ex to you repeatedly. You quickly made your way over, pulling Gonta to an empty hall and making sure your ex wasn’t around

You nodded, sighing softly. “T-that was my ex-boyfriend, Gonta. And… h-he was talking about him I’m bi.”

“He’s the reason I never told you, when I told him, he, u-um…” You teared up and Gonta scrambled to hug you, nuzzling your hair.

“He said mean things to (Y/N), right? Gonta is very glad he is your ex now, (Y/N) deserves a true gentleman! A gentleman would never call his girlfriend those mean things!”

You smiled into Gonta’s chest, pulling back to kiss him sweetly. “That’s why I’m with you now, because your the best gentleman and I love you, I promise I would never cheat on you.”

“Gonta knows! If (Y/N) was a boy she would be a great gentleman!” You blushed a little, that was some of the highest praise from Gonta and it had you smiling, feeling much better than before

Kokichi Ouma:

It was one of the rare days when Ouma was content with a simple date at a cafe, the two of you sharing a miniature cake.

“Mmm, (Y/N)-chan? Can you get me one of those sweet coffee thingys?” You winced, the last thing Ouma needed was caffeine, but you gave him a kiss and went up to the counter to order the horribly sweet drink

When you glanced back over someone had taken your seat, another glance had all the color leaching from your face. It was your ex and based on the look on Ouma’s face, he didn’t have anything nice to say.

The second the coffee was put into your hand you walked back over, just in time to hear the end of the conversation.

“Hey, no need to get all pissy. I’m just trying to warn you before you wind up walking in on her and some other chick with their legs in the air. Maybe you’ll get lucky and they’ll invite you to join, eh?”

Your ex laughed and smirked at you, moving to get up before Ouma’s hand shot out and grabbed his shirt, an eery smile on his face

“So that’s what you think of her, hmm? Listen, buddy. I’m the leader of a very large, very evil organization. Your ex sighed and walked out, waving a hand in annoyance. Ouma pulled you to sit, taking his coffee and looking you over. “That wasn’t a lie, by the way. I could totally get DICE to do that.”

“T-thanks…” You managed a shaky smile and took a bite of the cake, blinking back tears.

“(Y/N)-chan! Stop looking so sad, ill cry too!”

“Sorry, Kokichi, I just… you weren’t bothered by what he said?”

Ouma shrugged and sipped his coffee, grinning as the sugar filled his system. “What, that you like girls too? I’m bi too, doesn’t bother me.”

You blinked, Ouma was bi? Well, that certainly made things interesting. You smiled softly and took a sip of your own drink.

“Awe come on! You still look all upset! Let’s go to headquarters and play that game you bought!”

Ouma grabbed his coffee and his cake, pulling you outside with his free hand as you stumbled and tried not to fall.

But a couple rounds of Twister with a very hyper (and handsy) Ouma was more than enough to lift your spirits, ending up in a tickling match that had you breathless and giggling.

Rantarou Amami:

The two of you were shopping at the mall, Amami helping you find a dress for a relative’s wedding, when it happened.

Apparently, your ex had finally found a job because he was working at the first store you peeked into, coming up to Amami as you ducked into a changing room

“Hey, dude. I see you’re with (Y/N) there and I figured id give you a heads up about her. She likes chicks, so I figured you’d want to know before you see for yourself.”

“What are you talking about?”

Your ex laughed at Amami’s growing confusion, not realizing the unbridled anger brewing inside him. “Don’t bother asking for a threesome either, little slut likes to keep the bitches for herself.”

“Alright, you need to stop. My girlfriend is wonderful and I know she would never cheat on me, regardless of her sexuality. I don’t know why the two of you broke up but it looks like it was for good reason if this is how you spoke to her. (Y/N), get dressed, we aren’t going to buy anything here.”

You quickly got dressed and followed Amami out, letting him lead you into another store and hiding in a changing room.

“Alright, so I have a feeling there’s something you need to tell me?”

You nod and sit on the bench, Amami holding your hand reassuringly.

“S-so, you probably figured out that I’m bi… I hope it isn’t a problem for you, I swear i-”

Amami leaned down and kissed you sweetly, cutting you off. “Whoa, it’s okay. Two of my sisters are bi, its no big deal. Your not the kind of person who would sleep around, I trust you. Your ex, or whoever he was, isn’t worthy to be around you. You can tell me anything, okay? No matter what, we’ll have a conversation about it and get it figured out, I promise.”

You smiled and stood up to hug him, pressing your face into his chest and relishing in the warmth.

“We still need to find your dress, princess, as much as I would like to stay in here all day.”

You giggled and popped out of the changing room, letting Amami pick out some dresses for you try on, your worries melting away.

Korekiyo Shinguuji:

Korekiyo had convinced you to go around the history museum, spouting off facts as you went from exhibit to exhibit.

It may not have been your favorite date in the world but Korekiyo was clearly in his natural habitat so you were content, it was quite cute to see him bustling around to look at artifacts

It was going great up until a much too familiar face made its appearance, your ex tapping Korekiyo on the shoulder so you would both turn around.

“Well shit, I thought you were a chick. Oh well, this works. Dude, I saw you with (Y/N) and I figured id warn you about her. Shes, like, half lesbian or some shit. Either way, figured you would want to know so you can cut your losses. See ya!”

Before either of you could speak he was gone, leaving you shaking with tears in your eyes, clinging to Korekiyo’s arm. “O-oh god… fuck, I wasn’t going to tell you, I’m s-so sorry Kiyo!”

You were crying hard now and Korekiyo was quick to lead you somewhere else with fewer people, gently rubbing your back.

“Shh, darling, it’s okay. It’s quite common for humans and even animals to have sexual preferences outside of the opposite sex, there’s nothing wrong with that.”

He spoke gently, letting you cry yourself out until you were able to relax a little, getting you to sit down.

“M-my ex… when I told him he f-freaked, he accused me of c-cheating and called me n-names. I was too scared to tell you, I d-didn’t want it to happen again.”

“I would never call you such horrible things, especially when you’ve done nothing wrong. Come on, smile, crying doesn’t suite such a beautiful example of humanity.”

You smiled softly at the compliment, always feeling so special when Korekiyo called you that. Your smile triggered his and you could see it in his eyes as the both of you returned to the exhibit, making sure not to give your ex even a glance as you enjoyed your evening.

Ryoma Hoshi:

You had convinced him to go to a tennis match, the first one in years. The two of you were sitting together, sipping sodas as you watched the players.

“Ryoma, can you explain how this works to me? They keep calling things out but I don’t get it…”

“Love means zero, and-”

He was interrupted by a tap on his shoulder, turning around to see your ex. He had seen a picture before and knew it had ended badly, so why was he talking to you guys?

“Dude, aren’t you that tennis pro who went to jail?”

“Why do you care?”

“Eh, doesn’t matter. I just figured id give you a heads up about your little girlfriend. I don’t know if she told you but there’s a pretty good chance shes fucking a chick behind your back. I never got lucky enough to catch her in the act but oh well, maybe she’ll let you in.”

With that, your ex returned back to his popcorn, muttering under his breath about the match. You had tears in your eyes and Hoshi could see how much you were hurting, looking into your lap as your nails bit into your thighs

Before he has the chance to do anything, a rogue tennis ball flies from the court and hits your ex square in the jaw, pulling a choked laugh from you

Your ex storms off and leaves you with Hoshi, who is looking at you quizzically.

“I-I guess I should explain, huh?”

“You don’t have to, I pretty much get it. Your, what, bi? Or pansexual?”

You nod at the first option, laying your head on Hoshi’s shoulder and smiling softly. “Yeah, bi. I’m sorry for not telling you but after him… i-i couldn’t.”

A quiet kiss on your forehead calms your worries as Hoshi turns back to the game, continuing his explanation of points to you.

One of my friends has ADHD! So I know somewhat what it’s like heh.

Saihara Shuichi:

Saihara is a very calm, collected person.

And then you on the other hand, are very energetic, barley never running out of energy and not staying in one place for a second.

So things get….interesting at times.

He has to try and get you to focus on work all the time, despite your groans that you don’t wanna.

One minute you’ll be working on a math problem, only to be on your phone the next.

He encourages you to get your work done, and he stays up with you to help get assignments finished.

You really tire him out, having the same level of energy from start to finish in a day.

Oh the other hand, he’s tired when he wakes up.

There’s times when even simple tasks have become a challenge.

To which Saihara helps you, softly whispering words of encouragement to you.

He truly never gives up on you, even if you give up on yourself.

Whenever the two of you go on dates, if it’s at a restaurant you’ll bounce your leg or tap your hands along the table, keeping your mind busy.

Of course, there are times when you do get tired.

Saihara cherishes these moments, as you’re in one place for more than 10 minutes, it’s a relief.

Sleeping is also something a bit unusual.

You toss and turn a lot, sometimes hitting him with an arm of a leg.

You end up keeping the poor boy awake most of the time.

At the end of the day, he still loves you.

Because he likes you based on who you are, not what mental disorder you have.

Amami Rantaro:

He can handle your hyper sides just as well as your calm sides.

It’s really no big deal to him?

He enjoys it, its’ like having a little ball of energy at his side, like a bundle of sunlight by his side all day.

He means that in a good way, of course.

School work can be daunting at times, but Amami does fairly well, so he’s able to help you out when need be.

He’s always able to somehow cope with your issues, addressing every situation with a cool head.

There’s times when his patience has been tested- he’ll admit.

You not doing your work- wanting to fly by the beat of your own drum half the time.

He’ll sigh, rubbing his temples as he tells you that you need to focus.

He knows it isn’t easy for you, but you’ll fail your classes at this rate.

You pout- twiddling with your fingers as he takes your phone away.

Focus. Focus. Focus .Focus.

He runs through the worksheet again- breaking down the solution to simplify it- making it easier for you to understand and remember.

Coming up with clever ways to read the equation; instead of just a long list of words.

Once you’ve got that part, he gives you a few questions, gradually increasing in difficulty until you can (hopefully) remember it for the test.

You thank Amami, he chuckles and pats your head, telling you to get some sleep now.

Ouma Kokichi:

‘A match made in heaven.’ As he puts it.

He can be very hyperactive at some point as well, so he’s more than able to keep up when you do get lively at times.

One of the problems being that school work can be challenging at times.

He doesn’t focus as it is, but add you into it?

It’s a miracle if the two of you even get work done.

It’s all fun and games until the report cards come home.

But at least he doesn’t struggle with simple tasks.

He came home one day to you in a mess of tears and anger, when he asked what was wrong you told him that you were trying to set the alarm clock up and it wouldn’t work with you.

He calls the clock an evil bird before comforting you, telling you that he can smash it if it’ll make you feel better.

Despite him fooling around often, he knows when the line has been crossed.

He knows when you need to really need to sit down and work.

He makes sure you take your meds every morning before a test or an important date.

He knows when he needs to take a step up his game to help you.

On the brighter side, he takes you to get candy after every test.

That ends well.

Kiibo:

His battery gets depleted quite quickly some days.

The more he has to think about at once; which is similar to the RAM in computers or androids, the more battery he chews up.

So dealing with Ouma, schoolwork, remembering dates and notes, and then keeping up with you at times is a real circus act.

He’s done all his research on ADHD prior, so of course he’s more than aware of how to deal with it.

He’ll try and make things easier for you, or make it into a game as you learn.

There’s been times where you didn’t want to eat- your medication creating loss of appetite.

One day you broke- telling him you just weren’t hungry ,you couldn’t eat when you’d just don’t want to.

He places a hand on yours, informing you that he’s sorry for making you feel upset, however, eating is important for humans to stay healthy and he wants you to be healthy!

He tries not to force you too hard, but he still wants to make sure you’re doing the right thing!

Outings at the pool are fun, although Kiibo can’t go in it naturally…

But at least he can watch you having fun, while he sits and reads under the shade.

It isn’t perfect, but Kiibo is happy with it nonetheless.

Kaito Momota:

The only who can outlast him is you, hands down.

Your energetic nature can beat his flame fueled passion any day.

Sometimes you two have competitions to see who can stay up the longest.

He’s usually the one to loose, much to your excitement.

He actually finds the fact that you can’t focus on 1 thing at a time cute?

He thinks of it as a hamster- running around in a hamster wheel- trying to go further and see more.

Cute.

He does….not too well in school, so he isn’t much help in that department.

But there’s always the option of tutors! So he and you can both study at the same time!

He honestly likes leaning when it’s broken down to make it simpler, it makes his life easier.

One time you’ve gotten so fed up with work- you actually walked out of the room due to the stress.

He was the first one after you- having to pat your back as you tried to calm down.

He tells you you’re doing amazing.

You work so hard.

He’s so proud of you.

You head back into the classroom, apologizing to the teacher before continuing to work.

He takes you out for Ice-cream after school.

Korekiyo Shinguuji:

He’s met quite a few people that suffer from ADHD.

Though he wouldn’t call it suffering in the slightest.

They are simply more joyful, livelier.

He finds that interesting.

He knows how to handle the condition as well, so he’s a great help when you need to be calmed in public or you need to focus in school.

He’s usually standing stiff, or sitting still while you’re looser and can move and float about.

Like an elephant and a bird.

One day he was explaining a math problem to you, at least he had been trying to for the past hour, when you decided to turn on him.

“It’s so damn easy for you because you’re so fucking smart! Everything is easy for you!”

You’re on the verge of storming out of the room – he has to calm you down.

While learning does come naturally to him, not everything is easy for him.

He tells you this, watching your reaction to see if he’s gone too far.

“How about we take a break, huh?”

It’s not usually his style, but right now he thinks it’s necessary.

He takes you out for a walk, telling an old story as the rustling of trees calms and slapping of shoes on the pavement fills the air.

By the time you two get back, you take another shot at the problem.

He’s happy when you get half of it right- baby steps towards a bigger goal.

Gonta Gokuhara:

He’s constantly worrying.

Whether it’s about your grades or your safety or your health, its worries for him.

He wants to see you succeed, so he tries his hardest to help you out.

Getting items from high places, helping you with sweeping, lending you notes that are easier to understand for tests and exams.

He takes it upon himself to be your personal training buddy, making sure you go on a walk daily and eat fruit with your breakfast.

It’s healthy for you! It’s good for you!

He loves taking you out in the forest.

You can run free there- not having to be shushed or told to climb down from places.

He makes sure that you’re safe, of course, but for the most part he’s happy to see you being happy.

He lets you braid his hair with flowers by the stream, pretending to be a princess in need of saving.

He loves playing with you, climbing trees or sitting by a lake.

It’s fun and relaxing for the both of you.

Ryoma Hoshi:

His life definitely takes a turn for the brighter, I’ll tell you that.

He’s now having someone who’s peppier by his side.

You always can keep conversations, changing from topic to topic as if it’s second nature; that he’s glad for.

During class he had to rally you in, making sure you got all the notes written down

If you don’t he’ll fill the rest in for you.

It actually makes him a better student as he now has someone to try and study for.

P.E is a fun class, he’s sometimes not with you but you’re really outgoing when you want to be.

You do have self-esteem issues; hating how you can’t be normal and just can’t fucking focus.

He reminds you that you’re human, that you’re not going to be perfect at everything. And that’s ok!

He can help with the self-loathing part, he’s gone through a lot of it.

He tries not to worry you with his problems, instead trying to make his life about you.

You always end up making him spill, if he really is feeling down.

He takes you to play tennis sometimes.

It’s exciting for him, to have someone be actually play with.

He teaches you, and you get the hang of it fairly quickly.

It’s now a routine thing the two of you do, head down to the court to play a game before going to get slushies before heading home.

In a way, he likes your ADHD, it makes you yourself.

sometimes i feel like my parents care more about my grades than my wellbeing,, i havent heard a "how have you been?" in forever. its always a "how are your grades?". its gotten so bad that if my parents call me i get genuinely scared that ill be yelled at. its just so hard to do the work assigned and i dont want to fail. if i ever cry about it or even just talk about it to my mother (my dad is usually playing games) she'll brush it off because "did i know how much she was suffering?" idk its just so tiring. a hug would be appreciated,,

Hey there anon, hopefully Kaito, Kokichi and I can help you out. I can understand how you feel, my parents are pretty obsessed with accomplishments over anything else. I'm sorry all you're getting are questions about your grades, you deserve a lot more than that. Aw man, I'm real sorry that you're just living under all that stress. Doing the work is hard, and I'm real proud of you for continuing to try with all of this pressure. No matter what your grades are, you're a genuinely incredible individual, and I wish your parents could see that. I'm real disappointed to hear that your parents act like that whenever you try to express your feelings.

All your dad does is play games, huh? Well from that alone, I can tell that you're a way more motivated person than him. It takes a lot to keep going with all the work like you have. What I don't get is how your mom is suffering. It sounds to me like most of the suffering is going onto you. Either way, you're completely right, it's exhausting. Since you can't seem to catch a break at home, I'd look for support outside of your home life. If you can, maybe reach out to a teacher or counselor if you trust them. This isn't something you have to handle alone, and maybe some extra backup could help you get a break from it all. You could also ask for extensions on assignments to give yourself a little extra time to make sure that your work is as good as possible, or maybe use that to get some downtime.

Man, I hate the sound of that. Having someone only ask about your grades sounds like a nightmare, and it sucks that you have to actually live through that. I'm not too great in the school department myself, so I can imagine how much stress you're feeling to do well. What I can say is this, your grades don't define your worth or you as a person. That's something I had to learn, and I hope it can help you too. No matter what your grades are, that doesn't change your value or make you matter less, no matter what your parents say. You're so much more than just grades. You're an entire pretty dang awesome human being! And I wish those around you could see it.

Damn, I kinda want to know what games your dad is playing so I can try to beat him or something. He sounds pretty absent from it all, and it sucks that you have to deal with that. I agree with Rantaro, your mom doesn't seem to be the one struggling here. Man, I'm so sorry that you're getting no help or support from your parents, you deserve so much better, like a million times better then you have it. I think Rantaro had a pretty good idea with what he said. I know going to a teacher or counselor can feel lame, but sometimes it's really the best choice.
