The Spirit Maiden

Since there has been a lot of time going into the main character art posts, I've decided to do these to at least get some consistent posting in the meantime! :) Closeups and more details under "read more." Click them for better quality!

Her Grace, Lady Zelda! This is the Zelda seen in Skyward Sword, a knight in training who found herself fighting a war she had no idea was her own. She recently turned 17 during the events of Skyward Sword, but now is 19. Her birthday is July 16! Zelda likes to spend a lot of time sewing (mostly making dolls) and studying this era's wildlife on the Surface. She is often plagued by nightmares of Hylia's war and glimpses of Link's battle with Demise, as her soul was within the Demon King at the time.

After Skyward Sword, Zelda decided to live on the surface. When Link agreed to join her, he confessed there was something else he meant to talk to her about (the same thing she tried to tell him before Ghirahim sent his tornado). They shared their first kiss beneath the light of the Triforce and above their new home - between earth and sky. They have been together ever since and have formed a small settlement with the friends they made on the Surface World, which Link has nicknamed Hyrule as a running joke. Zelda is hoping such a pun doesn't stick... but it's what everyone in Skyloft calls their small home now.

Now that her father has let her origins as the goddess spill, her old friends have begun to treat her somewhat differently. It didn't sit right with Hylia long ago, and it certainly doesn't sit right now... She has to accept that part of her, doesn't she? There have even been suggestions of her taking a role as the high priestess and ruler of the settlement below. After all, they say, a goddess is most fit to guide humanity. But must they forget that now - and for as long as they've known her - she is one of them?

In Another Life follows a fued of the Goddesses. Tired of the cycle caused by Demise's Curse, the three come to an agreement: they will break the boundaries of space and time and allow the fued to be settled by their Champions. If one seeking destruction, chosen by Din, holds victory, then the world will be erased and built again without the demon's influence. If the heroes blessed by Farore and the princess blessed by Nayru succeed in returning their foe to their seal, then the world will live on. Farore hopes too to end the cycle, but Nayru believes it not to be her place.

The eternal bond between Hylia and her chosen hero will be tested as Hyrule's branches in history reach out to them through broken mirrors. They have found each other in every lifetime - but will their unbreakable connection be enough to save existence itself?

I think it'd be interesting if at some point the royal family just decided to name their kid Link and some random ass Hylian family decided to name their daughter Zelda with the mindset of like “eh, if we do this our kids for SURE will not have to save the world", because they don’t want their kids to deal with that hardship.

Then the universe just laughs at them and still makes their Zelda and Link the ones that have to save Hyrule. We’d have a funky little role reversal where we get to follow Zelda either as a Knight or a swordsman (swordswoman ?) or just an average Hylian, meanwhile Link is the Prince of Hyrule.

Zelda travelling around Hyrule after the Calamity and people are tripping over themselves to tell her stories about the Hero because they love that feral cryptid mad man and are so proud of him

'I met him when I was about to get eaten by a Hinox...he jumped off a horse, fired 12 arrows in the blink of an eye and then got smacked in the face with a tree...but then he came back and hacked away at it's legs with this stupidly big sword until it finally died'

'He was wearing this weird patched together mask that looked like a monster but he made enough curry for everyone so we didn't like to ask'

'But...the hero was a girl? She wore these lovely green silks and every time she came out of the Gerudo Canyon she had a bag full of electric safflina to sell to Beedle over there. The Gerudo think she's an amazing fighter, which says a lot, and she always thanked me for looking after her horses when she went into the desert'

'I swear to Hylia that he ran through here wearing nothing but his underwear and a mask shaped like a leaf...claimed he was looking for the Children of the Forest. Sorry, Princess, but I'm not sure he was quite right in the head at the time'

'He used to creep in here silently wearing this grey mask and with enough lizards and beetles that we could make enough elixirs to last for a month. Not sure I ever saw his face without it'

And the entire time Link is stood neatly dressed, three steps away, listening to every word and no one pays him the slightest bit of attention. Because none of them cotton on that 'prim and proper Royal Knight' Link and 'I will defeat this Lynel with a stick, a pot lid and a bucket load of adrenaline' Wild Child Hero is the same man. Especially with how many masks he owned.

When they walk away and are out of sight and earshot Zelda just raises her eyebrow with a smile and he is like '...I can explain...it made sense at the time'

You know Zelda, most Links actually were children during their adventures. Breath of the Wild Link Georg who was over 100 years old was an outlier and should not have been counted

As you can see, I'm still not over the idea of a younger Link and older Zelda in alttp. She feels so bad about dragging a little kid into this whole mess 😭

Chapter 1/5- people change... in one way or another

an unexpected portal comes their way, sucking them up and spitting them out before they even have time to comprehend what had just happened.

The chain groaned as the swirling black and purple portal spit them out carelessly on the floor, the 8 heroes landing roughly on grass. The uncalled for portals were the worst, they didn’t have time to put everything neatly away before going in, instead of that they just had to suffer being thrown across the floor, and then having their stuff thrown on top of them.

They wondered if Hylia ever got bored of it.

Hyrule was the first to get up, the rest of the chain following the action shortly after. The traveler looked pale on the face, speed walking to the nearest bush and rejecting the contents of last night’s dinner into it, a few of the members grimacing. Four walked over, giving an awkward upside down smile and patting Hyrule’s back, as legend dug through the mess of stuff for the potions.

“So.. who’s Hyrule is this? Cause it’s not mine that's for sure.” Wind piped up, looking to warriors.

“Not mine, i don’t recognize this place at all.. This hyrule looks pretty big.. Twi?” the captain looked to the hero of twilight.

“Nah..I ain't recognize this.. it just ain't feel right either.. and definitely not Hyrule’s. Ya'll think we’re somewhere in between? Time?” The rancher looked to the old man.

"Could be, for now let's just pick up our stuff and start looking for the nearest village or traveller, can't be too far" The eldest shrugged, walking around to pick up the scattered belongings, then added, "Hyrule? are you up for traveling yet?" The hero of time questioned, looking to the boy who just gave a smile and a thumbs up, smiling back and looking to everybody.

"Alright! everybody good to go?" Time smiled and clapped his hands, hearing yes's and yeps all at once from the other heroes. (and the delayed one from sky along with a yawn), "Okay then, we best get going now. its the middle of the day so we shouldn't waste daylight." He explained. So they went along.

as they walked they had the time to observe they're surroundings.

and it was beautiful.

The sky as clear as crystals, the sun shining through and kissing hyrule softly and lovingly through the day, critters and creatures skittered along the tall grass that danced in the winds, mountains and cliffs over top as if guarding the world from any danger and-

"oh shit- is that a dragon-?!" Wind pointed out excitedly, snapping everybody's attention from the scenery and to a giant snake like being floating distantly in the sky.

"sailor! language young man." Time scolded lightly, stopping to look up at the dragon.

Sky snapped out of his mid-yawn, looking to where wind pointed with wide eyes, "oh my hylia they're beautiful." he whispered, looking the most awake he's ever been in a long time.

Then a pile of bananas promptly fell out of a tree nearby.

"Ooo! Free food!" Wind threw fists in the air, walking over to grab it.

"Wait, Wind don't go for it could be a trap-" Time looked to the younger prior to his words, reaching a hand out to grab the sailor.

and then a woman fell out of the tree.

she also had a sword.
