Style: I SHIP IT SO HARD AHHHHH. I don’t really know when exactly I started shipping it, but I know some of the main contributors were the episodes “Super Best Friends”“You’re Getting Older/AssBurgers” and “Cupid Ye.” (Not to mention The Post Covid movies hehehe.) One of my favorite things about the ship is definitely their emaculate “yes, and” dynamic, and the way their traits compliment each other. I also looooveeee friends to lovers in teen romance, and adore domestic bliss in older romance. An unpopular opinion I suppose I have is that both Stan and Kyle are dorky loser assholes. Neither of them are “fem” or “masc.” They’re just stan and kyle. Kyle and Stan. OH AND ANOTHER UNPOPULAR OPINION I HAVE!!! They’re BOTH on the asexual spectrum!! Kyle is demigrey-sexual and Stan is sex repulsed asexual!! I will stand by this till I die.

Kyman: Urggg this one is iffy for me so I’m going to answer a mixture of both yes and no questions. I appreciate the ship from other people but don’t personally ship it because I like domestic bliss and fluff, and I can’t see them having a non-toxic dynamic. I’m all for a good enemies to lovers, but their situation is more complex than that. I feel like Kyle would never feel romantic love for Eric. He is definitely cursed to forever care about Eric, and have a deepest belief that he could somehow fix him that has the potential to verge into obsessive territory, but that’s all I see. One sided Kyman though? That’s literally just canon. Like fr Cartman is psychosexually obsessed with Kyle and if you don’t see that you did NOT watch the same show as me. I would probably like the ship more if Cartman showed lasting positive character development that wasn’t either shown to be fake or reversed for laughs.

Buttman: Euahhg. Sorry. I’ve NEVER liked this ship. I envoy their canon dynamic, and I know butters was taken a turn for the worse in more recent seasons, but I still HATE it. Because it’s abusive. At least with Kyman, Kyle and Cartman equal each other out in terms of hard-headedness. Even with his new changes in conviction in the recent seasons, if Cartters was real, it would end up like another damn heidi situation. Cartman would cling to Butters as a source of comfort and stability, while simultaneously belittling him and manipulating him. It would be so unhealthy. And I’m still not over Cartman laughing and watching as Butters was beat by his dad because of something Eric intentionally caused. As someone who grew up in a similar household to that of the Stotch’s, that scene makes me fucking sick. I… don’t really have anything positive to say about this ship tbh. It would probably be palatable to me if Butters was stronger willed, and if Eric showed more compassion to Butters in canon.

I’m not sure exactly what my first sight of the ship was, but it may have been either @mysterionrisez or @saprozoicworm. Not sure though. Regardless, I love the idea of Kenny playing around with gender-fuckery, and/or being in a Mysterion kinda mood and Henrietta being all like, “Woah,,, that kinda goth…” Like their dynamic would be that one “doing whatever my hot witch girlfriend wants” meme with the guy in a summoning circle smiling. ALSO, Henrietta would 100% do Kenny’s makeup. EEE i just love it. I can’t see it as a long term thing, but they would DEFINITELY give it a go in highschool. I love them your honor. Doesn't even have to be romantic, I just want to see them being obsessed about each other. I'm also a pretty big obianidala fan, hence why I added her too. (I'm a multishipper really. I have my otp but there's a lot of ships that I enjoy)

1. Obi-Wan Kenobi/Anakin Skywalker(/Padmé Amidala) (Star Wars)

When I first watched star wars (not that long ago, I only watched it because I wanted to see the sequels in theater lmao) I wasn't a big fan of the prequels so I mostly ignored them, but then a couple years ago I randomly rewatched them in the middle of the night and suddenly I was obsessed. I'm not even sure how I ended up on AO3 (did I go look for obikin? Did I stumble on it? Idk) but eventually I started reading Pining in Preschool, then realised that @palfriendpatine66 was on tumblr, I started interacting with more people around here, and now I'm (slowly) writing fics, and I'm having the time of my life here, so thanks Pal!

I don't think any if my past fandom brainrots reached my current level so I'm pretty sure I'm here for the long haul (at least it's not stopping anytime soon).

It's not super obvious here but I'm actually a huge Marvel fan (well, the MCU, I've never read a comic), and especially Captain America. Stucky is just, 🤌 so tasty (a lot of similarities with obikin actually imo). I'd like to talk to whoever thought "I'm with you 'til the end of the line" was a straight sentence to repeatedly say to your bro throughout an entire century though. Like?? I'm all for relationships that defy the boundaries of platonic and romantic, but still, that's kinda gay.

2. Steve Rogers/James "Bucky" Barnes(/Peggy Carter) (Marvel Cinematic Universe)

The first MCU movie I saw was actually captain america 2 (and not the first one lol) in theater, and I was instantly hooked, though since Endgame I've been less into it, since my fav is gone (and I have to agree with tumblr on that one: they're making too many movies and shows, I can't keep up 😩)

(And I'm still super salty about what they did to steve in canon, they should have killed him off instead of whatever the fuck that was, honestly)

I also added Peggy because she's great, and polyamory is so much better than love triangles or shipping wars. (I'm not polyamorous but I believe in their beliefs. I think it's because of the aromanticism)

Same as with obikin (and stucky too tbh) I don't really care how they love each other, I just care that they do. They're the most important person to each other, be it romantic, platonic, familial, idc.

3. John Watson/Sherlock Holmes (mostly BBC Sherlock, but from the RDJ movies and the books too)

I've obsessed over (non-existent) clues during the last season, and deluded myself into thinking they'd become canon, alas, it didn't happen.

I've translated a couple of fics in french for that ship, but I've never written for it (I thought about it tho), and I've read a lot. That's the fandom where I've read some of the best queerplatonic fics, and that's my favorite interpretation of the ship, especially sherlock being some flavor of aroace.

4. Aziraphale/Crowley (Good Omens)

I love them as a queerplatonic relationship, and I genuinely think that's what they are in canon, the haters can suck it, that's not queerbaiting even if they dont become a canon couple.

5. Elizabeth Bennet/Mr Darcy (Pride and Prejudice)

Not quite the same vibe as the others, but I've read sooo many fics and books (straight up published fics lol), I've watched a bunch of different adaptations (even the one with zombies)... The worst part is that I think I've only read the og book once, oops.

I actually inherited that fandom from the women in my family lmao. My mom, sister and sister-in-law are all obsessed with it, so I read it to see what all the fuss was about and, yeah, I get it.

And that's it! There are other fandoms I'm into, and other ships in those fandoms, but that's pretty much it (the main one that's missing is Dinluke, the others are mostly smaller ones).

I'm not super actively in those fandoms (apart from Star Wars obviously) but i come back to them now and then. Usually I re-watch it then binge-read a bunch of fics (while my main fandom stays in the main spot in my brain) then I let it go again until it comes back (while obikin still stays in the main spot).

Also Harry Potter used to be my main obsession but JKR kinda ruined that for me so I'm not really into it anymore (hence why I didn't list it even though I have written fics for it).

dunno if you were asked this before but what you most favorite dynamic out of all your supermassive ships?

i don’t think, that i answered it on such a scale before tbh. i’ve been asked about my supermassive otps separately tho, so like mmmm….

idk. i can’t say, that i have a specific favorite among all of them. each pair has elements that fascinate me, and while they all have smth that tangles them together, they’re also fundamentally different. i look at chris x ryan, and john x andrew, which at first glance is what i’m calling a caretaker + their silent, younger companion sort of gimmick, but they’re also go deeper than this, and there is very big difference even in how chris & john handle situations or how andrew & ryan react to things. how andrew will always be more pushy, and how ryan essentially can enter yandere mode, where andrew seem to be just kind of prone to violence of less motivated, less personal kind…..or even a big separation in how chris always tries to cling to imagery of a good person, and john is just kind of embraces the fact, that he’s not a decent man. still, chris somehow fucks up more royally bc of it all vs john, who’s just kinda goes with the flow lol. and then, the roles of who defends who in both ships are reversed. in the quarry, ryan canonically goes out of his way to pretend like everything around him doesn’t scream ‘my mentor isn't who i think he is'. it's so plain. so into your face, yet rayn being unresponsive, being abrasive. and then, he also gets hella passive-aggressive, once someone suggests that he's in denial (he is lol). in LH, it’s john, who canonically closes eyes on andrew’s mishaps and stunted disturbance, downright to forgiving him accidently killing angela (in some routes). i talked in more detail about john & chris’s differences and similarities here. but while they do share the same roots of dynamic, i feel like it evolves into its own category along the way. so honestly, even between those two, it’s kinda impossible for me to pick which is the most preferable or interesting. bc they both are! i'm a sucked for complicated pinning & favoritism, that makes person pick side based on their own selfish pref rather than logic. i love how creepily easy it is for ryan & john to endanger others, if it means that they can keep chris & adnrew 'safe and sound'. i love how this is their first, organic reaction. the quarry kinda messed it up toward the end, but y'know lol. it's the narrative point / the main intent, that counts with me. and where LH wasn't very shy about andrew & john being a 'thing' in whatever way, you might see it....like them being stuck together as oddly 'similiar' unlucky folks or as john being there to mislead you, well, they still were very *cross fingers* like that. in the quarry, you have to actually look a bit more closely to see how much of plot is revolved around ryan & chris's relationships. around ryan trying to save someone, who is in fact, was partly to blame for everything. but honestly, this is what i like about the quarry vs until dawn. at least, chris had someone, who did try to see the best in him. vs until dawn, where by unpopular opinion, i always stuck feeling like josh deserved better friends. i can't watch the prologue and not think, that aside from sam, the rest of josh's friends actually suck tbh. including chris, bc dang, he just abandoned him like that. for a girl..........so while josh did messed up thing, i struggle to feel any sort of sympathy for anyone, but sam in that game. naturally, some characters grew on me and chris was even my fav back at the time, but i don't and cannot respect a half-assed commitmet he showed josh. like man, be more like ryan, dude. point a gun at weird looking gal, that suggest that she's about to kill your camp leader. be like john, and literally ignore safety of everyone, but yourself and that one, young dazed student that you like lol. chris from until dawn is too weak for it. even non-existent dr hill was more devoted to josh vs his best bud. i mean, it kinda sucks, when your mental illness is the only thing, that agrees to keep you company, bc your bff wanna gets laid and just forgets about u. it's realistic tbh, don't get me wrong. but it still stings lol.

*clears throat* sorry, tangled lol.

anyways then, we have the other 2 ships, which are kind of opposites of one another. i mean, dulie & dalim do have similar narrative bits, esp since both pairs have power imbalance as its main trait. but where du’met x charlie will always be a predator/prey, with prey barely being able to do anything against its pursuer, in dalim it's never fully established, who 'controls' the situation in the end. bc realistically, salim would kick dar’s ass, if he saw so fit lol. and the funny part of their relationship is that dar is completely unaware lol. he seems to consider salim to be weaker, more naive and less likely to fight against his commands, since he's kind of a kiss-ass lol. it never occurs to dar, that salim can rebel against him. and if/when salim does, dar basically instantly gets angry/absolutely enraged with him, bc how dare he lol. in dulie, du’met kind of expects charlie to struggle and whine, and cower, and try his hardest, so he’s not holding it against him. he even humors him kinda. still, it's where the big diffence is. charlie is du'met 'prey', whatever intentions he has for him are always 'justified' inside his own mind. dar would only hurt salim, if he goes out of line. he won't randomly harm salim, or consider doing it, even if he might have such impulse. like, i do believe, that he does have them. still, where charlie being du'met 'favorite' means, that du'met would exact more pain and fear on him....with dar, it's the opposite. he would try to keep salim from harm's way, at least to some degree and he certanly won't treat him as poorely as he treats those other people, who are unimportant to him. canonically, out of the whole unit, dar only searching for salim. he's not sorry for all those wasted lives, it seem to barely register with him even. more so, he's actually allows salim to stick in the background for the most part, when he shots around like a maniac lol. it must mean smth comming from a war dog like him. also i must say, that dar & du’met, while both clearly sociopathic, still have very, very different stans there, not to mention, that even their sadism is kinda different too. not even in level, but also in how they apply it. they both clearly love hunting down people. they both enjoy the thrill of chase. but dar in a way uses his position, the situation he’s in as an excuse for it. while, du’met is just like that lol. salim & charlie are also opposites. there is SO very little to connect them by. besides, a very surface level things, such as them being the low-key hyperfixation/main companion for antagonists, and then how they both wander around with a lighter. so once again, its kinda impossible to pick between them, bc they represent very different things, and the characters themselves have way less in common up close vs the chris/ryan and john/adnrew. 

taking all 4 ships into account is like examining 4 of your favorite foods. it’s not the matter of which you prefer more, it’s more of what you wanna eat at the moment lol. the silver lining of all my supermassive ships be that they all have a specific brand of fixation/care/pinning/longing for one another. and they usually all have smth, that makes it difficult to approach those relationships/feelings. at least, for one party lol. but it’s kinda impossible to shove them all into some check-box tbh. i mean, it will be very hard to fit let’s say, caring chris, who tries to be good to ryan, even when he scolds him, and dar, who backhands salim, the second he fails to answer him fast enough. or compare andrew, who can push john around and shut him up by mere suggestion of disagrement, and charlie who would most likely fell on his knees and suck du’met off, rather than risk invoking his displeasure. even if simply bc du'met is capable of murdering him lol.

so idk, i can't name the most fav one tbh. i love them all for their own reasons. not to meation, that there is so many ways to explore obsession and other bits, that i love in each ship in its own way. before, i assumed, that i might have a secret fav, but looking at it now, i don't think that i do, haha.

i think forte would be wearing something skin tight, midriff showing (kinda similar to what clear wears while dark hunting tbh) and clear would be experiencing major blood loss in the background.

clear would be wearing something kind of drapey and soft (forte just wants him to be COMFORTABLE and REST), sleep clothes basically take ur ass to Bed.

31. Can they sit side by side without touching the other or are they handsy? (lacing fingers, touching knees, etc.)

even before they got together they were always a BIT handsy. but it’s more of the companionable, touching shoulders, knees, standing close type of thing. when together they’re not like Hella PDA-y with their relationship but clear really enjoys holding hands or having a hand or arm on each other’s waists and the like and who is forte to deny him?

32. Who's the better story teller?

points to the bard’s son aka forte. he has a real natural knack for it and is very good with suspense and embellishment when necessary; clear is a bit more to the point or jumbled when he tells stories there’s no in-between.

33. Who's the better cook?

honestly neither of them are good at it LMAO 💀💀

34. Who's more likely to tell a dirty joke or story to make the other blush?

honestly both of them are likely to make dirty jokes, but i think they both say it offhandedly and in a somewhat sly way—so others may not 100% get the reference up front. however, clear is definitely more likely to blush; in general he gets more flustered than forte does about like anything especially when it comes to relationships or romance etc. forte can usually dish it right back if clear instigates a joke lmao.

35. Who's more artistic?

once again pointing to the bard’s son (forte) however he hasn’t really wanted to pursue anything artistic bc he wants to be his “own person.” clear wasn’t really allowed other outlets growing up so i think he’s fascinated with the arts, and he does have a pretty decent singing voice, but he feels a bit awkward pursuing anything.

hmm. what’s something we won’t cover in canon- OH. so, he has two older sisters, and  his maternal grandparents had three kids- two girls, and a boy, with the boy being the oldest (koba mom (yuriko) is their youngest child). so koba and his siblings are a mirror reflection of their mom and her siblings. also, her mom has a very dear friend she’s been close with for forever, and is also close with his wife now. koba considers their children to be his cousins- this is why he has some french knowledge, they live in france! has one cousin who he especially likes, a lass a few years older than him.

- How i feel about their canonical writing/handling

i feeeel… like he can feel a bit one note/flat? but.. i think completing his ftes will show a sort of depth to him that comes through in the main game, if you know it’s there. (also some of his feeling flat does come from me boyfailing in the past when it comes to writing. so.)

- The one thing i’d want to make canon about them

hm. less so something i want to make canon, moreso… something i hope people pick up on? my boy is constantly trying so hard to protect his peace. the only reason he comes across as okay as he does is because maeda only sees him at breakfast and dinner, and maeda is kinda a dunce, so he hasn’t noticed that kobashikawa is connnstantly self soothing. again. maeda is our protag and oh how that limits things. but- OH. holiday event, the start of harus arc. the way he tries to console himself, but then just distracts himself until things go away? yeaaah.

- My number one favorite ship for them

kisaragi! cuz kobas huge on building planes, and kisa is a inventor. i think they’d have fun working together!! parallel play :]. also koba has a fwend he knew for like.. a year? in elementary school. who also attends hopes peak! that year of school was Really Rough on koba, so he kinda. just isn’t as eager to reconnect? bc of poor associations. but fwend is… maybe he doesn’t quite understand, but he’s trying! and he has a very good heart. so i don’t really ship them but sometimes i see stuff that makes me go “oh… it’s them 🥺” so. ya know!!

no “enemies to lovers” with him and higa don’t even try to slide that shit by. that’s a bigot x the person he hate crimed. mmm.. i’m actually redesigning his fit rn but i think his general color palette is a vibe!! it’s been consistent since betas inception and has stayed the same. i kinda tend to give up on his fit cuz it never works with me,, but surely this time it will all work out for me… yes…..

uhhhhh. like or like like - miniature tigers. specifically the chorus/“do you like or like like me? juuuuust sayyyy youu do…” gives me him vibes. i think he tends to make people go 👀 at him so if he was ever uncertain if someone liked him back he wouldn’t really be able to deal with it well? like or like like works because the phrase is a more light hearted/less serious way of seeing if someone feels the same, but it’s also like… again that line is accurate to what koba would want- for that person to just say they like him (tho, while that’s what he’d want to ask of them, if they actually just said yes bc he asked. he’d be v upset)

the king - conan gray, is similarly kobashikawa trying to Cope if the one time he wants someone, it doesn’t come easy to him. this song is one i have down for both him and otori lol. the only exception - paramore, is also very much so a them song. theres probably other songs i associate with him that i’m forgetting about but he’s being spoiled rn compared to the other kids. so.

No clue how this will go, but Dick Grayson/Robin/Nightwing/Batman III

ooh, interesting... you'll have to forgive the fact that I'm most familiar with Dick Grayson through the Cartoon Network Teen Titans show (and only a bit from Batman since it's been a while ^^;; but I'll answer to the best of my ability. Maybe once I've rewatched the Batman animated series with my best bro I can come back to this if anything's changed.

My NOTP for them:  hmm, can't say as I have one per say since I'm not really sure of who the fans ship him with that I would have problems with. I mean other than a non-platonic ship with him and Bruce Wayne (Batman), that would be a bit of an issue.

My BROTP for them: really I'd willingly BROship him with the whole Teen Titans gang, they have a great dynamic. The Teen TItans comics seemed to have a few members I don't know well so IDK about them as much but it could work. I do like the unofficial father/son relationship he has with Bruce Wayne too tho that's a bit less of a BROTP and more of a found family type thing I guess?

My OTP for them: Tends to be Koriand'r (Starfire) but it's not my only ship for him.

My second choice pairing for them : tbh I ship him with Raven from time to time, they seem to have an unspoken bond. I think a lot of it has to do with their own feelings of being outcast that can make them relate to one-another.

My fluffy pairing for them: I'm not picky, I'll take wholesome fluff of any ship on this list.

My angsty pairing for them: Some Angst with Raven would be very nice.

My favorite poly ship for them: Hmm, hadn't really thought about it too much, since I was way into shipping with Dick Grayson when I was much younger and didn't think of polyships as much at that time. I remembered reading how in the comicbooks (a presently evil) Raven interupted his wedding with Koriand'r and that did kinda peque my interest even if the canon reason Raven interupted the wedding was due to being under her father's control. So, maybe I'll combine them? I could work perhaps..

My weirdest pairing for them: I don't think I have a weird pairing per say, if I ever do start to gravitate towards an unusual ship with him I'll let you know tho!

you thought i was going to talk about magolor huh, WELL actually this is a kracko fanblog now. look at this funky little cloud guy he fights kirby in practically every game bc he will never let go of a grudge and also he summons waddle doos hkjdfs

jk i still want to talk about magolor >:3c (rtdl and magolor epilogue spoilers incoming)

ok so magolor is the antagonist in rtdl/rtdldx, you start off seeing him crash land his ship and kirby offers to help him collect the ship parts, then he lies to kirby about his crown getting stolen by this dragon so kirby steals it for him + he attempts to use it to gain power and take over the world. master crown corrupts him, kirby kicks his and the crown's ass, he falls through a portal to hell and loses his powers. magolor epilogue happens, he kinda redeems himself by defeating the crown, then jumps into the universe of a previously non-canon kirby game and does microtransactions for a while until he has enough funds to make an amusement park for kirby as an apology

he's my favorite for many reasons!!! first of all bc i was talking about character design and personality in the last ask i'll start with that, wizards and wizard-y designs are great, also he's got little kitty cat ears and his hood looks very comfy... then ofc he's a very silly little guy, he has a fun way of talking (in jp he uses mixes in a lot of katakana which the devs refer to as 'magolorese', this was localized to having him use some slang like calling kirby a 'cool dude' and being like 'high five, low five, all that' etc chill phrases), his animations are really fun (like giggling after blasting enemies with a giant energy beam or spinning in the magolor races), etc - and i like characters that are mischievous or twist villains too ^^

i have so many thoughts about him. first of all i love that his two main goals are like a) build an amusement park and b) world domination. i kinda interpret it as him just wanting to have some sort of power and control, whether it's in a positive or negative way, he's just got a big ego i think hjkdfs. and then even in his amusement park it's filled with bombs and shurikens and etc dangerous things ^^;; anyway more series should have their villains redeemed and start amusement parks i think

also love how his master plan is working perfectly and then. oh fuck it's controlling him now, local wizard fucks around and finds out immediately (and the pause screens even reflect this like throughout all the phases/variations of his final boss they go from 'stop magolor he's an evil liar' to 'the master crown is amplifying the darkness in his heart... save the world and save a new friend, too' - like look at these two from true arena 🥺), lots of angst potential too for true arena where 1) that's the one where the bgm has him crying for help and 2) when you defeat him the crown stays on his head when he gets sucked into a portal so it's implied he's stuck corrupted by the crown in another dimension forever ;-;

he's also very silly in the light novels, people don't really like them bc they paint him in a very negative light but sneaky con artist magolor is also very fun (i mean i'm a redd animal crossing stan this should come as no surprise hkjdfs)

also i haven't read any of the mangas yet but from what i've seen they also have some fun portrayals of him

tbh i don't really headcanon characters stuff very often!! unless i'm hardcore projecting on them hkjdfs but i mean. at least half of kirby characters are neurodivergent probably

I thought about this after this post where @ichiro51 made a great explanation for the difference between the Violetta fandom and the SL fandom.

So people told me always that SL is the show with the ships - and I never quite got that. Of course, they have some good ships, but besides Simbar there wasn’t any… canon ship, that interested me very much. I did not like Lutteo in the slightest, and Gastina was ofc very cute, but I was more of ”Yeah, it’s cute 😊” and didn’t have much else to say about it. This isn't to say I didn't care about the ships at all, it's just that the ships I DO care about are non-canon.

People say that Violetta is much more into crackships, and we are that. But if you’d go outside Tumblr, then we are basically like the SL fandom is here. Just take instagram for example.

It’s pro Leonetta. It’s very much Diecesca. People have Brodemila as their favorite ship - would anyone have that on their fave ship here? Nah. With crackships, people are pretty ok with it but their biggest ships are the canon ones - just like with the SL fandom. There’s one (1) big crackshipper on instagram and legit, they said just the other day ”Oh I wish people could ship Marco and Diego, they would be cute” and I was like ”👀👀👀”

But then, yeah, the SL fandom does focus more on the romance than maybe the wacky storylines (cause there IS a lot of wacky storylines in SL too!). But back when Violetta first came out, we focused a LOT on romance too. It was ship wars. It was ”I think Tomas should’ve stayed”. It was ”Marco was a better boyfriend than Diego”. But as we all grew up, and rewatched the show in a more nostalgic and retrospective view, we focused more on other things. Like how unbelievably crazy this show can really be. And then, the romance plot wasn't our main focus anymore. It still mattered a lot to us, but now there was so much else we noticed that we were like "wow this was not how I remember when I was little" or "wow this is way fruitier than I thought it was". And we brought that energy with us so when new fans joined, they just got that same energy.

And for a lot of us, we perhaps didn't see SL until much later - and then we kinda brought in our energy from Violetta there. I can often see if someone have seen one of the shows first - often, when a person has seen SL first and they watch Violetta, they go "Yeah Diecesca is the only good ship tbh :/" cause Diecesca is perhaps the one closest to Simbar, which is easily the most popular ship (and with good reason, obviously!). I wouldn't say everyone in the SL fandom is like this, but for the ones who focused a lot on the romance part of SL and then went into the same mindset in Violetta, this is usually how they reacted. While I personally would say there are a lot of good ships in Violetta, more than I was invested in than SL. But it may be that I had my romance focus on that show already - the fandom already had that, and while we obviously still love to talk about the canon ships, we have considered the non-canon ships more, cause now so much time has passed that we just view the show differently than how we did the first time we saw it. Cause when I first saw Violetta, Leonetta was the ship that was literally everything I watched the show for. I used to watch scene compilations of them before I went to sleep, in hopes I would dream about them. It was on that level. And as I grew older and rewatched the show, I still loved them, but I realized "oh wow there is so much else going on that I just didn't focus on as much!!". And we see new ships - non-canon ships that we didn't notice as much when we were younger. And since we see SL now too, we have that same mindset and perhaps see more non-canon ships there too, than canon ones.

So for me personally, Violetta is the show with the ships. This is because I had focused so much time on the ships there, more before than now - and now, I focus more on the non-canon ships, but with the canon ships I like, they still live in my heart rent free. It's very nostalgia-based, of course. But in SL there was only one endgame ship I liked - in Violetta I liked at least 4 endgame ships. So. You know. I don't have any nostalgia to SL - I don't really think you can have that since it's so new (unless you were like, a child when you saw it for the first time, then I guess I can understand lol)

But SL has the family mystery plot, and I think y'all should start telling more people about this. You have the main character more or less be kidnapped (even if the person doing it wanted to save her, but yk) and put in an orphanage in another country? Arson? Mysterious deaths? Faked identities? THIS was so interesting. When many of you described Ámbar, it was in the context of Simbar. But Ámbar on her own?? I loved this girl from episode 1! I noticed right away there was a depth with her. I loved analyzing her mind, her choices, the way she acts and why she acts like that. Her relationship with Sharon. Her relationship with Luna. I AM SO OBSESSED WITH THIS CONCEPT OK why do you think I've made oneshots about this, plus my longer fic where Luna and Ámbar grew up together? That concept makes me so intrigued!!

I feel like some people who saw SL first have a harder time getting into Violetta because they've been into the romance aspect and when people tell them Diecesca is the "only good ship" then what are they gonna do for 2 seasons? I personally love S2 the most, so I am VERY fine, but like... for y'all who claim you only watch for Diecesca, what do you even watch the show for in S1 and S2? What was your main focus BEFORE that?

To get me to watch SL, I didn't start to watch it because of the ships. I started watching it because I saw someone post a scene that was completely out of context and looked super funny. THAT was what drew me in. The chaos.

But you know what? BOTH of these shows do have a lot of good ships - both canon and non-canon. AND both of these shows have a lot of chaos. It's just that one fandom focuses more on the ships and the other more on the chaos, but it doesn't actually mean that the one show is "the one with the chaos" and one show is "the one with the ships". Cause that's always personal to whoever is watching.

I don't really know what point I was trying to make, I just went on a little thought spiral after thinking about the difference between the fandoms. So conclusion: It all depends on the people watching, and their experiences before. But who knows, maybe the SL fandom will be a little like the Violetta fandom once some more years have passed, and perhaps people who watched it when it came out has become older and can reflect on it. Cause the Violetta fandom I do think is like it is a lot due to the nostalgia and the fact that it's been so long now that we've gone through the "phases" of fandoms and we've been chilling down now.

But anyway. The only thing I think we can agree on is that Violetta has the better songs. Like SL has some bangers but Violetta has MORE bangers!

Favorite character: Alina Starkov tbh. I love her entire arc, her embracing her gifts. That whole line, "I wasn't ready before" when coaxing out her light. I wish her story ended differently, but still I very much am loving show Alina especially.

Character I most identify with: Probably Nina. I too love waffles, crushing the hearts of my enemies and being delightful.

How I feel about this character: i literally love him. i love him so much. he is my husband. i want him to make me biscuits. i am begging for him to make me biscuits. also i hope he continues therapy because oh my god.

Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character: like. me? but otherwise, i don't really know? i kinda think i wanna see him get better and work through his shit before he gets really romantic with anyone.

My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character: rebecca, 100%. i shipped them when i started watching it, but now i've changed my mind and i think i much prefer them as friends. i like that the show gives us such meaningful nonromantic relationships.

My unpopular opinion about this character: i honestly have no idea what popular consensus is about ted, but i doubt i have any unpopular takes tbh.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: i just hope he continues to heal and process his grief, man. that's all i want for him.

Why I hate canon Kailor sm

Im not gonna tag Kailor on this for obvious reasons plus this is kinda a long post, I don’t mind fanon Kailor mostly because tbh I don’t think it’s really a big thing and most I have seen of it is fine. Don’t read this if you like Kailor and don’t want to hear it bashed

Okay listen, s4 is my favorite season out of all ninjago, but if theres one thing I hate about it the most is Kailor. This ship has always been really annoying to me throughout the show, and I’ve hinted towards that in my blog. But why?

1. It’s basically jaya redone

Kailor brings nothing new or interesting to the table because honestly? It’s literally just the same dynamic as jaya. Socially awkward guy simps for usually unimpressed girl until she eventually caves in and they start dating.

Not only has this already been done before with jaya, but is also completely out of character for Kai to do.

While I admit seeing Kai as a flustered dork is kinda funny, once you realize the context of the situation that they’re in it’s pretty clear that Kai would never actually do this.

Reminder: Kai JUST found out his dead friend is alive and is forced to recognsizle with friends in order to get him back

Usually when Kai is presented in a situation like this, what he normally does is set himself dead first on the task at hand and usually ignores any distractions. He’s mostly distance and seemingly uncaring

((note this is after Zane died and Kai ran away from the ninja because of cole and jays bickering, knowing him he wouldn’t be the most excited to be back. His arc should have revolved around coming to terms with lost friendships due to death or distance but that never happens)).

What Kai DOESNT do is immediately fall head over heels for a girl he JUST meet to the point where even when he sees his DEAD FRIEND ALIVE AND WELL he completely ignores that for a girl he meet less then a week ago

This is something JAY would do, not KAI, Kai is a loyal friend who do anything to save his friends, he cherishes them and would fight god to help them with anything they need, he doesn’t forget them for someone new

It also does skylor unjustice as well, but we’ll get there when we get there

2. It adds nothing to the characters and is otherwise never mention again

You know how bad you fuck up a relationship if the best aspect of it is how it’s rarely on screen

Even considering the fact Kailor is just jayas dynamic, the connection between skylor and Kai feels completely non existent or one sided

Most of Kailor revolves around Kai simping for skylor

They have no common interests, common goals, they rarely actually talk outside of lloyds plan to overthrow chen

The whole relationship feels forced every time it’s brought up because of how disconnected they both are to eachother, Kai only likes skylor because she’s hot and that’s it, nothing else about her is actually interesting to Kai in anyway ((again sort out of character for him in this situation))

Skylor and Kai don’t form any genuine bond with eachother, it feels hallow and empty

Let’s compare this to lava, wait no that would be to easy, let’s compare this to pixane

Pixal and Zane both genuinely like and respect eachother, they both share bonds outside of being robots, they both care about eachother enough to know when they’re uncomfortable or need help

Kailor is barely mentioned past s4 and most of it in s4 is Kai being a creep

Oh yeah let’s get to that

3. It’s really really creepy

Im sorry I don’t find incest jokes funny ninjago, it’s just really uncomfortable and creepy

Hopefully this goes without saying but Kai thinking skylor is hot, figuring out they might be related and no longer finding her hot, and then finding out they aren’t and thinking she’s hot is really weird and creepy

Not to mention scenes like, Kai looking into her room without her knowledge or consent

Or Kai fighting people for her when it’s not necessary

Or him trying to impress her everytime he sees her

This isn’t cute or funny, it’s gross, privacy invading, and overall just very creepy and uncomfortable and most definitely not healthy

Again, this is REALLY out of character for Kai, Kai knows when to back off and respect people’s privacy

Literally the season before this he didn’t get involved in the love triangle probably because he knew that would make Nya’s situation worse

So for him to suddenly become this privacy evading perv is so grossly out of character for him and makes the whole relationship feel off and unhealthy

And finally

4. The whole thing is misogynistic

During this entire thing skylor doesn’t get a choice in the show once, she follows the commands of her dad before Kai tells her not to like her dad and follows his lead.

She doesn’t come to disliking her dad by her own thought, she was told to by Kai

She doesn’t get to do anything that SHE actually wants to do until LITERALLY the VERY END

She’s told by guys around her what she should do constantly, even without her being a love interest that’s just screams misogynistic to me ((Afab speaking anyways))

Everything about her character, down to the way she talks, who she’s allied with, and even sometimes how she looks is determined by male characters

Conclusion

If canon ships were shrek movies then kailor is easily shrek the third, a constant tired unfunny mess that caused everyone to think that these ships were shit ((to be fair Jaya is kinda bad to but at least it tired to get better))

There’s nothing redeeming about it to me, every time it’s viewed in a romantic setting it makes me groan or upset

What’s even more frustrating is how people constantly say lava can’t be canon because of it

Im going to go on a side tangent so you can just skip this part as it doesn’t add any actual substance to my argument

But it’s so frustrating to see people say that

Cole and Kai have had a much healthier relationship and would be a lot better for there characters

But no, this stupid misogynistic creepy ship where one side isn’t even consententing to it half the time is the one that has to stay canon because “it’s what the creators intended”

Lava isn’t the superior possibly canon relationship because it’s gay, it’s superior because it’s closer to a healthy working relationship in show then kailor has been ((fanon lava and kailor doesn’t count here because they’re isn’t any better fanon ship, Im just talking about in show))

But no it can’t be canon and it’s unfair for people to want it to be canon because tommy created this rlly shitty straight relationship for Kai instead

how i feel about this character: i absolutely adore him. i think he has a lot of really good moments--especially when everyone thought he was dead but then he wasn't and rather than saving himself, he risked his life to save the people who, essentially, saved him from a rough life on the streets. not to mention that this was probably the first time they realized people cared about them. like, the group was so happy to see that he was alive, and before he joined the air acolytes, he probably didn't have anyone who would have mourned them. he shows so much courage and passion when he gets invested in something and i love them for it.

all the people i ship romantically with this character: kainora my beloved !!! and like shipping him with pretty much anyone but jinora and maybe ikki would be. weird and kinda gross tbh. but he and jinora balance each other out yet aren't afraid to encourage the other and have fun together and that's just. that's so good.

my non-romantic otp for this character: mako and kai !!! like... they both have a lot to learn from each other and i love them for that. it's after mako realizes that bolin is old enough to take care of himself, he fixates on kai as his younger sibling to try and make up for that and to feel needed and able to protect someone because he sees bits of his younger self in kai. and it's kai showing mako that he doesn't always need to be the big brother, that he can depend on other people but also loving having an older brother figure and not knowing how to process that so they act out because that's all they've ever known... it's messy and weird but it's them and their odd sibling-esc relationship and i love it<3

my unpopular opinion about this character: idk if this qualifies as unpopular but demiboy he / they kai rights !!!

one thing i wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: i wish we got more backstory for him--like, that we learned more about his life as a child and that they explored the mako and kai sibling-esc relationship more but's it's all good--i can always headcanon :)

how i feel about this character: hakoda my beloved !!! ngl, at first i didn't like hakoda because he seemed like the perfect person for awhile--swt chief loved by everyone, best warrior ever, can do no wrong... and that bothered me a lot when i first watched the show two years ago ??? anywas, i love he now. he's a good dad and the love he has for his kids is extraordinary and heartwarming and i love it and him<3

all the people i ship romantically with this character: bato !!! sometimes i forget that bakoda isn't canon... like... genuinely i forget that it's a fannon ship. that is how deeply i ship bakoda.

kyoda is obviously wonderful too! bakoda just holds a special place in my heart. but i wish we got more kyoda scenes in flashbacks or something because they were adorable.

my non-romantic otp for this character: hakoda & sokka, hakoda & katara are my two biggest ones. i mean,,, that reunion hug at the end of boiling rock ??? like,,, yes that family is everything to me. plus, as much as i love the possibility for great dynamics and healing with hakoda being a father figure to zuko, there are more fics under the tag 'hakoda & zuko' than there are with both watertribe siblings which is just. very sad. so i feel like zuko's possible relationship with him gets more attention than hakoda with his kids. like... don't get me wrong, i love the hakoda and zuko dynamics... but like. sokka and katara...

also hakoda and toph. i feel like they'd get along really well and would be too powerful for this world.

how i feel about this character: oh boy, where do i staRT !!! i love bumi ii. he is my 1.5 favorite lok character and i absolutely adore him. i wish we got more of him--i do. and that is me being greedy because i think we got more of him than kya ii, but still. he is everything i love in a character--feels useless compared to the others because he can't bend, feeling disconnected an unimportant in his own family because they're all super powerful benders and he's just... he's just bumi ii, the nonbender. acting out for attention because, at this point, even negative attention is better than constantly being overshadowed. and despite the resentment he may feel towards his siblings for being "better" and "more important" than he is, he's still a big brother at heart and would do / sacrifice anything for them.

all the people i ship romantically with this character: no one !!! bumi ii is aroace thank you and goodnight <3

my non-romantic otp for this character: bumi ii & izumi. i just,,, i just feel like they would get along so well??? like. i cannot describe it, but in the gaang's kids crew, they are the best friends. izumi is one of the first people he comes out to as aroace and bumi ii is the first person izumi comes out to as nonbinary. they find solace and peace in each other and understand parts of the other that no one really understands.

bumi ii & sokka also. they have so much in common and they deserve to be besties. bumi ii needs reassurance from someone who understand being the resident nonbender, and sokka needs someone who recognizes and verbalizes that he's amazing and someone worthy of looking up to.

also, naturally, bumi ii & his family. i mean, the sibling relationship was a bit strained, but the three care about each other so much even though they don't get along well. bumi ii is used to looking out for them and taking the blame if kya ii or tenzin did something bad because he wants to protect his siblings the best he can and he may not have magic bending powers, but he can do this. and bumi ii's relationship with aang and katara is definitely better than how they made it seem in the show--change my mind. aang may accidentally give tenzin more attention due to, ya know, airbending, but there is quite simply no way that aang or katara would ever neglect a child as much as the show made it seem. the kataang parents are good parents and i stand by that.

my unpopular opinion about this character: bumi ii has tourette's !!! he got it from his uncle sokka and actually, i headcanon that he actually doesn't curse or say vulgar things a lot because he has some form of coprolalia and always has to curse / say vulgar things against his will, so he does his best not to curse if he isn't being forced. also aroace bumi ii rights.

one thing i wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: i so desperately wish that bumi ii had tourette's in canon... y'all have no idea... i also hate the way that the show had him join the military like ??? that's just weird and i just. did not like it that much ??? so i wish it happened differently. no. you know how i wish it happened? since he has coprolalia, he struggled to find jobs willing to hire him. the other sailors didn't care that sometimes he yelled inappropriate things--it didn't matter to them.

and, lastly, may i suggest reading never been in love (and it's all good) by my bestie @zukkaclawthorne ! it is an aro bumi ii fic about him coming out and it's the content we don't deserve but cherish <3

How I feel about this character

he's my favorite person on the show. i could go on forever about how much i love him, but we'd probably be here forever lol. his character had such an important impact, but i think what i loved most was watching him get to experience ups and downs in his relationship and have to confront the ways that his trauma made things difficult. i wish we could’ve seen more of it, but it’s always been so satisfying to me that there were real consequences for everything kurt had been put through. i can’t say enough about how much i love it.

blaine. that's it tbh. i think he found something with blaine that i never saw with anyone else, and i think, while he and blaine aren't perfect (no one's perfect, let's be real), they are perfect for each other. they make each other better and feel like real partners to me, through everything life has and will continue to throw at them. My non-romantic OTP for this character

mercedes and elliott, tbh. i don't hate hummelberry as much as a lot of people do, but if it's in terms of who i think is best for kurt, it's both of them. he's his most honest and unguarded around them.

mercedes has a way of getting through to kurt that reminds me of burt. he can't hide anything from her, and she sees him, in such a real and honest way. he always seems a little less distant when he's around her.

elliott is someone i feel like kurt trusts bc there's no baggage or complicated history (and elliott didn't know him in high school) and i love the openness of that. they play off each other really well and i love kurt having someone in his life who performs and goes all out costume-wise (through starchild), the way he's fond of doing, to prove to him that success isn't limited to one way of presenting yourself. i don't think kurt was perfect, and i preferred when he wasn't. i kinda hate the way people make him into some flawless angel that is just wronged by everyone else. i also think a lot of his coping mechanisms can be super unhealthy and just not talked about in that way because he's perceived to be more "functional" than some other characters, which i really don't like.

they'd addressed (beyond throwaway lines/subtext) how everything he'd been through had a significant impact on how he acted, mainly throughout s5, and gave him the space to process the numerous traumas he'd endured without lumping more and more on top.

How I feel about this character

he is the human version of the sun and i absolutely adore him. he's one of the kindest, warmest, most generous characters on the show, in my mind. All the people I ship romantically with this character

kurt. i don't like multi-shipping, clearly. i just think that kurt fits with blaine and knows blaine better than anyone else. talked about it above with kurt, but yeah, i feel like kurt balances blaine out really well and they just make the most sense to me as lifelong partners/husbands. My non-romantic OTP for this character

sam and tina. both of them were instrumental for blaine in picking up the pieces after the first breakup, and i really love how organic them friendships seemed to be.

blam is one of my favorite friendships on the show, for how pure and genuine it is. sam knows blaine (and vice versa), and there's a level of intimacy there that i feel like is so important for both of them.

tina sometimes acts as the push blaine needs to do things, and i feel like she loves him and cares so much about his happiness. their friendship has definitely been....interesting, but i love how comfortable they are with each other and how much love there is between them.

(also love the thought of quinn/blaine friendship, but that's completely fanon sadly)

My unpopular opinion about this character

he's overhated as fuck and it's cruel i don't hate that he cheated. i think it makes a lot of sense with the context, and i understand exactly how it happened. i wish we'd gotten a little more build up to it, but i think that the pieces are very clearly there. the people who are mad at blaine for cheating need to a) remember that every person on this show has done the same and b) recognize that blaine is his own character with his own feelings and not simply an extension of kurt's story.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.

i wish we'd met his father, and spent more time with his mom. but especially his dad, because, while i def don't believe that his parents were abusive, blaine definitely has some daddy issues i really would've loved to have seen more fleshed out.

When I started shipping them: tbh... a Hamilton/Turn (BenWash-including) fanfic was the reason I found out about Turn, so I kinda saw them together before I even watched it. But when I consciously fell for them? Somewhere during season 2 I guess (can’t remember well as I binged everything in 4 days)

My thoughts: (a perfect portrayal of my feelings when I see/think of them)

What makes me happy about them: their synergy, their brains, their tension, their relationship, I JUST LOVE THEM OKAY?????

What makes me sad about them: how bad they handle feelings and stubbornness (period-typical homophobia put aside)

Things done in fanfic that annoys me: ehh... ehh... not particularly with BenWash, but generally OOC

Things I look for in fanfic: character depth, writing style as from @grumblebee-trilogy because omg,

How I feel about this character: she’s badass and a psycho but loyal and cunning af and I adore her. While she did mistakes, too, they were mostly a result of Abe’s stupidity. She deserves better
