The animators had no right to make this scene (nor this man) look so good... but I appreciate it.

* Minor Spoilers for Swordsmith Village Arc*
Demon Slayer: Swordsmith Village Arc had its moments but I felt like the weird pacing hurt the story. I think this arc was better told in the manga. While this arc wasn’t as exciting the as Entertainment District arc, there were a few scenes that really stood out to me.
I think having the characters be split into 3 groups and having to jump around between eps didn’t work so well compared to the previous arc. It was jarring especially when the fights didn’t feel continuous. Some scenes felt dragged on.
I really liked the way Mitsuri’s Love Breathing was animated and how her backstory was expanded with original scenes! Her fight scenes were definitely the highlight! Muichiro’s fight with Gyokko was kinda lackluster but I think it’s because Gyokko wasn’t the best villain.
Muichiro’s backstory was also well-done! One of my favourite scenes (the “Mu” in Muichiro) got me really emotional!
I’d also argue that the highlight of this arc isn’t the fights but rather Tanjiro and Nezuko’s relationship. The final ep emphasized the heart of the story.
Tanjiro and Nezuko’s relationship is under-appreciated so having the climatic scene revolve around them was emotional! Despite knowing what’ll happen, the scene still made me cry. The fact that Tanjiro couldn’t decide between his duty and his family broke my heart.
Nezuko making the choice for him and Tanjiro not looking back when he ran to the demon was so good! Kamado Nezuko no Uta playing with the flashbacks made the scene even more emotional! The absolute relief on Tanjiro’s face when he saw Nezuko again was everything!
This was still a good season of Demon Slayer despite not being the most exciting one action-wise. We’ll get more of that later.
8/10
