For Magnus, Apollo, and that FINE AS FUCK lavender bg3 mc:
I am obsessed with the how others see them, vs how they see themselves, vs how you the all-knowing creator see them.
But also like, with symbolism (ex as a cloud/as a flower/as a type of water, etc) 👀👀👀
THIA I ABSOLUTELY ADORE YOU. I'm about to talk so fucking much. So I loaded some classification things into a randomizer and used one for each character
let's do this
Magnus (Windverse/LoA) - Animal
If you asked other people what animal Magnus is, they'd say a panther, something intimidating and powerful, yet elegant and reserved.
But if you asked Magnus himself, well first he'd refuse to answer because he'd think the question is ridiculous, but then he'd say an owl because they're known as clever and tend to represent wisdom, which is the piece of himself he's put so much value in and relied on his whole life.
However, I've always associated Magnus with butterflies, specifically blue butterflies. Butterflies obviously represent change and rebirth which Magnus has done multiple times, breaking free from his old life for a new one and becoming someone new. But blue butterflies also represent joy and love, and the love of others (both platonic and romantic) and Magnus's own love are what showed him the joy in life and let him become one more version of himself: a happy one.
Apollo (The Elementalists) - Flower
If you asked most other people what kind of flower Apollo would be, they'd say a sunflower for pretty obvious reasons. Apollo is bright, kind, and passionate, and I mean. It's literally called a sunflower. It's very surface level but unfortunately most peoples' view of Apollo is very surface level.
If you asked Apollo what kind of flower he'd be, honestly he'd probably say a sunflower at first too, but if he thought about it for a second, he would say a hibiscus. Hibiscus flowers are bright and colorful and grow tall in warm climates. But they need sun to to bloom and even then only bloom for a day, closing again by night which is exactly how Apollo sees himself. Without his sun attunement, aka his power, he would be nothing. To go even further, when people look at him he's bright and beautiful but as soon as he's alone he's terrified and sad and stressed.
For my assessment, I'd say a lotus flower. I may be biased because it's my second favorite flower but Lotus's bloom up through muddy water and still come up beautiful which is exactly what Apollo did (symbolically at least). He was hunted by Raife from the moment he was born, had his memories erased and childhood stole, lost his parents, was lied to his entire life and was raised without magic and his twin, finally found somewhere he felt he belonged only to be hunted again, nearly lost his friend and almost died, then he was accosted by Kane and tortured, then (in my version of canon) ended up losing his mentor and hunted by his own people. But he came out of it beautiful and bright
Kieran (BG3 Durge) - Element
Most people when asked would definitely say Kieran is fire. Dangerous, unpredictable, (hot-) and passionate, maybe warm, but destructive.
If you ask Kieran themself, they may also say fire honestly, for the same reasons as every one else. But if you find them in a nicer mood they might say earth. Dark caves and sharp things but equally full of life and beauty. Something determined and strong.
But I would say water because more than anything Kieran is adaptable, no matter what situation they end up in, no matter who they're with who what they're facing, they always end up on top. More than that, Kieran just has this deep sadness within them that is best reflected in water. Water is also a symbol of transformation and healing which is a summary of Kieran's entire arc. Even better, it's what he evokes in so many of the people around him, not just themself.

I was sleeping on the bear when I should have been sleeping WITH the bear.
#BG3 Halsin#Ironically this time I took a pivot away from all my DURGE runs and went back to Tav (Mischief is also a Tav)#Don't let Chosen's name or wearing Orin's getup fool you#Look Lynx romanced Astarion and is the only one I've gotten the epilogue with#(I have no save before killing the end Big Bad on my first run so Kieran gets no epilogue OR romance) God!#Gale >:( such a downer#But the hug with Halsin with Lynx had me speedrunning Chosen#Literally speedrunning she never picked up Laezel Wyll or Karlach and only grabbed Gale right before Act 2 in case she needs back up#She DOES have Minthara though#Again Chosen is not a Durge or an evil run#She just doesn't care about anything but nature forgot half the companions somehow picked up Minthara and likes wearing Orin's outfit#Oh and has barely gotten to level 9#Also Halsin is the only romance here (excluding a trip to the Drow Twins)#Basically Lynx hugging Halsin in the Epilogue AND how sweet he was to Mischief who is locked in with Gale made me make Chosen

My durge Kieran. This name given by his adoptive parents means “little dark one” (because of his hair but i like the duality).
His appearance is mostly based on the Slayer avatar of Bhaal (a humanoid male corpse) but more “normal”, without lacerations and other stuff because he shouldn’t attract too much unnecessary attention. His skin often looks even paler than Astarion’s (partly because of the black hair) so I headcanon he’s been mistaken for a vampire instead of Astarion at least once.
I think Bhaal would create a shapeshifter (or shapechanger?) durge. Kieran can change appearance and become any humanoid race. This is his “true” or “original” form crafted by Bhaal. When Urge is “awake” he has fangs and black hands with claws.
At first i made an elf durge but i thought human would suit him better and provide a contrast between common race appearance and the divine features. He is not human anyway. He lives much longer (probably immortal from the beginning), can regenerate (not perfect but still), can meditate instead of sleep and has low-light vision. He also has strong bite force, just for fun.
Divine soul sorcerer. I’m disappointed this subclass wasn’t added to the game.
He’s kind of a trickster archetype, especially in post-canon.
And of course Kieran is in love with Astarion. They’re wonderful together and i like the contrast of their hair lol

(gonna insert genre as "hurt/comfort")
I have various WIPs, so I'll just pick a few~
"CLIPPED" (Adam Hazbin Hotel thing) - well this is self-explanatory, he gets his wings ripped off. that's the hurt. i have yet to write the comfort but it'll be there too.... just a bit.
"bhaals" - a durgetash oneshot thingy. gortash gets fucked up by da BRAIN but lives so.... it's also kinda the same idea. my durge (drace) is there for the comfort UwU
"save fellers as need saving" - kieran lives with no eyes au. the same hurt/comfort thing.

I usually listen to like... those long-ass youtube videos with a bunch of instrumental songs in one. but I do have like a tiny-ass writing playlist on Spotify that I use/add to occasionally.
this is all I have for that playlist so far, but they're good songs to just zone out and FEEL emotions to while i write :3

Kieran (BG3 Durge)
Kieran (no last name) is my beloved Redeemed Dark Urge. They are murdery, awkward, and stressed 25/8. They are also suspiciously unconcerned about the tadpole in their head.
Their love interest is Astarion, to the surprise of no one who knows me, they have tried to kill both him and their adoptive sibling (aka my tav Idris) multiple times in an unconscious state :)

So I've got Kieran, my durge, dating Astarion. However Idris was made first but now shares a universe with Kieran and needs of a love interest of their own. So!
Idris was separated from their family when they were a kid, believing their parents to have been killed. An urchin and tiefling on the streets of Baldur's Gate, Idris found solace in stories and especially in music. They always tried to help people where they could but didn't have much interest in quest or adventure, much preferring their life as a bard. They finally got a massive gig that would be their big break (the gig being for Duke Ravengard, funnily enough) but on their way was when they were abducted by the Nautiloid and got tadpoled.
From there their quest was mainly focused on getting the tadpole out of their head but they were one of the first to advocate to help those in need, feeling a protectiveness and a sense of duty whenever someone was in trouble. They're a sweet and sharp tiefling who finds out through Gale that their magical prowess extends far beyond healing and inspiration like they'd thought.
Their arc throughout the plot is about discovering their own power and learning to branch out, they helping people isnt just something driven by duty but a good thing.

I've finished the game twice, scrapped a character halfway through act 3, have a character at the START of act 3, and now I've made a new one lol.
(Elf Bard Kieran Tav romanced God-Gale - oops)
(Half Elf Druid Lynx Durge romanced Spawn Astarion, she was supposed to be my evil route)
(Half Elf Fighter Lynx Durge RIP Good Gale romance - I had split the character towards the end of Act 1 from the other Lynx)
(Drow Bard Ophelia Durge romancing Spawn Astarion - I have a type I blame Spike and DA Zevran)
Now I've got my Mephistopheles Warlock Tiefling Durge Whimbrel and they're supposed to be holding out for Karlach now that we get an epilogue but Wyll and Gale are testing me. Mostly Wyll.
