Sleeping headcanon!!!

Yeah so Strike can't sleep alone. Like, at all.

He is able to sleep despite being a 'drow' because of Bhaal's design, but when he's asleep and his mind is weakened, he's far more likely to submit to Bhaal's influence (why he kills the bard in his sleep).

He did that before the tadpoles, too; if he falls asleep without anyone to hold onto, he usually wakes up screaming in a matter of minutes because of horrible nightmares he no doubt suffers. Back at the temple, he would solve that issue by sleeping with Bhaalists and letting them share his bed for the night, or by simply keeping corpses in his bed to cuddle up to, and later by simply going to Gortash's; but it gets complicated when he's at the camp post-tadpoles. Lae'zel help and Astarion eventually help.

Durgetash/Durgestarion parallels. They're both trying to be charming. They both manipulate people. They both yearn for power. But while Astarion can be guided to a humbler, better life for him and Durge, Gortash just can't. He is a tyrant to his core. He cannot give up his bitterness. He cannot end the cycle of abuse because he doesn't want to. With my current Durge, I do think that he and Gortash cared about each other, albeit in a very fucked up way, but it's just... ugh.

Durge goes from Bhaal's loyal spawn, his perfect machine of murder and Gortash's lapdog, to being someone worth fighting for. To being someone who makes Astarion a better person. A real "He can make me worse" to "We can make each other better" pipeline.

Also: Cucking Gortash, but that's neither here nor there.

Astarion thinks that I am "delightful".

The others hear me mutter to myself. They see me shake my head like a wild dog when the urges get too loud. They see me eye corpses with greater hunger than I have for whatever meal Gale throws together at camp.

Not my fault that it doesn't compare to fresh

Am I supposed to know that?

They think that I am strange, but Astarion?

He calls me "delightful".

I am starting to think that he is strange too.

He asked me last night how I would like to be killed. My heart still races at the thought for some reason.

Why does my stomach feel so funny?

He favors decapitation if he starts to change.

I told him that I prefer a dagger.

How close it is. How personal.

How intimate.

To feel one's blood flow over your hand. To watch up close as the light leaves your victim's eyes.

I said as much, and Astarion stared at me.

Then he laughed and called me "delightful".

I like it when he laughs.
