GRIMWALKER BIOLOGY & ANATOMY STUDIES [pt 1 / ?? ]

(aka, my ideas and thoughts on how these bad but sad boys work!)

with pictures :D !

ok for starters! I tried my best to make real life connections with actual biological stuff and yeah but there are some things ima have to bullshit lol

i hope yall like rambling

[ ^ Basic ideas ]

Lets talk about anatomy!

From what i can tell from the grim walker ingredient book they have some pretty ... interesting ingredients...

GALDORSTONE:

Heart and Power apparently. What i can make of this is that the Galderstone not only powers and animates the non-organic materials but acts as a circulatory system, flowing blood and nutrients to keep the body stable by creating magical pulses of pressure that makes the blood flow. Blood is kind of ideal for homeostasis and living and om pretty sure we've seen hunter bleed at least once... Perhaps the Galderston can create an artificial vascular system to carry oxygen, magic, and nutrients throughout the growing body instead of just making veins from scratch. I want to say the Galderstone can generate energy for the grimwalker but that would mean they wouldn't need to eat, and I don't think that's true. I think its main purpose is just activate the magic materials and is like the generator to a car, keeping it running. If the Galderstone were to break or fail, the grimwalker probably come unglued and fall apart to its components (which would be pretty horrifying)

ORTET BONE:

Very key component! The ortet bone kind of helps form the blueprint for the species of the grimwalker, as well as supplying blood, a skeletal system, and components of DNA. The most basic definition of the word ORTET is as follows: the original plant from which the members of a clone have descended. Fun fact: since were using cloning terms, Hunter is to Caleb as Ramet is to Ortet (Ramet is an individual clone) I did research for cloning and as it turns out you kinda need a complete genome for cloning but for bullshitting reasons (which will be explained) we can clone with incomplete DNA and make synthetic dna from scratch! I hypothesis that the reason grims can look different from the ortet instead of just straight carbon copies is due to the bone that is used and how much of i there is. Like example a grimwalker made using just a toe phalange is going to look A LOT less like the ortet compared to a grimwalker made from something like the cranium and bigger bones and such. Basically smaller bones dont carry as much dna info and leads for room to fill in the blanks. Sadly this means alot of Grimwalkers had A LOT of health problems (this can range anywhere from immune system problems to liver failure which is quiet typical in clones, that and it is often that clones appear different from the ortet due to enviromental factors and influences)

[ As the image above shows, subject #103 has a very close resemblance to the ortet due to the bones that are used ] There are pros and cons to using bones! Pros being that they can hold DNA for much longer than tissue, but the thing is bones can degrade really easy if not preserved, and i don't think belos had a bottle of hydrogen peroxide laying around that he could dunk Caleb in, so let's just assume he made sure his brother's corpse was well cleaned and kept. Biggest con is the human body only has so many bones (about 206) I believe that the reason Grimwalker can generate organs is by using the ortet and making the stem cells created from bone marrow. Stem cells are very important because they can turn into different types of cells like blood and tissue cells as well as repair tissue. I believe the process of growing grimwalkers is kind of like "Self-renewal" the process in which stem cells divide and make more of the body

STONESLEEPER LUNGS:

Im just gonna assume stone sleeper had very small lungs because aint no way those t rex lungs fit in a teenage boy. I originally thought The reason that Grimwalkers can stay underground for so long is because the lungs, similar to how a stonesleeper hibernates for centuries (kind of like how wood frogs can basically cryo-hibernate) by petrifying but a grimwalker IS growing and therefore needs resources to grow, like how a baby does in the womb. So it has to be actively getting said resources so it cant be petrified. I now think the reason that grimwalkers have these lungs is because theyre easily compatible to the galderstone, which needs oxygen for the blood and that they can be easily harvested and stored in stone form. But that does give room for cool adaptations like self-petrification! (which i will get into next time :D )

PALISTROM WOOD:

Ok its says that the wood is used for keratin, which is a fiberous protein which can make all kinds of things like scales, hair, nails, feathers, horns, claws, hooves, and skin! And since its also a plant means it can grow 4 times as fast as normal keratin can! This explains why hunters hair grew so ridiculously fast in season 3, was because his hair can produce its own carbohydrates and nutrients on its own... This means his skin and surface wounds can heal quite fast! (down side is it might give him something similar to PSS (Peeling Skin Syndrome ) ...) I think Palisman is very important becasue of several reason! 1 Like palisman, it can "animate" if you will, more or less help pull off the illusion that he is alive. 2 Like mentioned before, Grimwalkers need nutrients to grow and I believe the palistrom wood aids in that! Using a process called cellular diffusion, the grimwalker can take in nutrients from the ground around them (which i theorize to be highly fertilized) through THEIR SKIN! and into the veins and flesh of the grims 3 I believe that in the process of forming, the galderstone "activates" the palistrom wood, forming into skin or hair but this process of rapid growth leaves the skin all undone and fragile because a proper cutaneous barrier was not formed yet (which is useful for being malleable. This is why Hunter's ears are so 1 .god blessed big because they are fake and molded to look like that. Its also why The grimwalker Belos possessed fell apart so easily, like he said "It wasnt ready")

SELKIEDOMUS SCALES:

This one kind of confused me because... well why do we need the seal flesh when the ortet can just regenerate it?? I think its kind of like the stuffing if you will, it also speeds up the process of producing flesh by a lot! Especially if you want to make grown grimwalkers! Im thinking that Grimwalkers don't have a set "age" theyre just as big as however many materials they are given to work with. Even though the book says they can start as babies, if you look closely there is a check mark towards the more adolescent figure, so im thinking that they are not ready to be unearthed until they reach a certain growth ima guess around the age of over 10-ish?? We don't know how young Hunter was pulled out of the floor but it seems like he was fairly young, or atleast younger. This means while Hunter appears to be 16, he might have only been living for around 5 years or so.

Now typically normal seals have a lot of blubber which is a thick layer of fat, also called adipose tissue, directly under the skin of a marine mammals. Its used for insulation. The thing is tho, it says Selkiedomus Scales, not flesh... Dont worry there are mammals that have scales like Pangolins but i dont know if these scales are like thick plated or small and stretchy. Magic bullshitting time, Im goin to assume Selkiedomus scales refers to a layer of scale-like flesh that protect the creature from boiling but is also highly malleable and easy to work with. Maybe the reason they can withstand such heat is due to unsaturated bonds of butadiene molecules mixed into the blubber that are highly heat resistant Selkie domus flesh is molded and into the relative shape of desired body and using the DNA of the ortet the flesh is reshaped and reused into the desired muscles shapes. The vascular system created by the galderstone spreads throughout the flesh and binds with it. healing together and becoming flesh, kind of like a speed up version of skin graft maturation! This is useful for growing them quickly because they don't have to grow an entire adult body from scratch so this speed up the process by eeeerrm 20 years or so lol

Thats only the basics for now, sooner or later i shall get into the more fun stuff, like adaptaions of Grim walker, the growing process, ad more!

Here’s how things stand on Wednesday, February 21, 2024:

Fighting and humanitarian crisis

Doctors Without Borders, known by its French initials MSF, said the Israeli military has bombed a shelter hosting MSF staff in al-Mawasi near Khan Younis in southern Gaza.

In the 24 hours between Monday and Tuesday afternoon, 103 Palestinians were reported killed and 142 injured by Israeli attacks on Gaza, according to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).

The World Food Programme said it has paused deliveries of food to isolated northern Gaza because of attacks and the breakdown of civil order in the region. The weakening of the aid operations threatens to deepen misery across the territory, where Israel’s air and ground offensive has killed over 29,000 Palestinians.

Regional tensions and Diplomacy

The US vetoed an Arab-backed and widely supported UN resolution demanding an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in Israel’s war on Gaza.

Before the vote, Algeria’s UN Ambassador Amar Bendjama said: “A vote in favour of this draft resolution is a support to the Palestinians’ right to life. Conversely, voting against it implies an endorsement of the brutal violence and collective punishment inflicted against them.”

China’s Ambassador to the UN Zhang Jun said that the US’s veto “stifles” an “overwhelming consensus” among the UNSC’s members on a ceasefire in Gaza.

Separately, South Africa argued at the United Nations’ top court that Israel is responsible for apartheid against the Palestinians and that Israel’s occupation of land sought for a Palestinian state is “inherently and fundamentally illegal”. Israel rejects such claims.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has described Israeli soldiers’ reported looting of homes in Gaza as a “symptom of genocide and ethnic cleansing”.

And in Yemen, the Houthi rebels claimed they struck an Israeli cargo ship, the MSC Silver, in the Gulf of Aden near the entrance to the Red Sea with a number of missiles.

Violence in the occupied West Bank

Israeli forces destroyed infrastructure and fired live rounds in Jenin, as raids on dozens of homes continue in the city in the occupied West Bank, according to the Palestinian news agency Wafa.

The Israeli military said it had targeted a “terrorist cell” with an air strike in Jenin, killing three people. Palestinian armed groups said they had responded by using explosive devices against Israeli military vehicles.

Israeli forces also arrested a minor in the town of al-Khader, south of Bethlehem.

MOVING IN A NEW DIRECTION

To secure our attention and place us on the pathway God desires, there are strategies that He employs that are very effective. As much as we are not to be ignorant of satan's devices (2 Cor. 2:11), we must be even more knowledgeable of the ways of the Lord (Ps. 25:4). Knowing God's ways will result in us experiencing His mighty acts (Ps. 103:7).

Three ways God works to move us in a new direction:

DISRUPTION OF OUR PLANS

When stuck at an impasse, it is a natural tendency to return to familiar surroundings. We see this in the lives of the disciples after Jesus' death. They went back to fishing even though they had clearly been mandated to forsake their vocation and follow Christ (see Luke 5:10-11; John 21:3). Because they were commercial fishermen, there may even have been economic motives behind their actions. Nevertheless, we see clearly that there was no lasting provision and no permanent peace in returning to past environments.

When God leads us out of a place of familiarity and the way forward is blocked, what is the solution?

There are some breakthroughs reserved for us that can only be accessed through prayer. We must seek God until we receive a clear answer from Heaven. Whether it was Paul's night vision of the man in Macedonia summoning him, or the voice of Jesus speaking to the disciples on the seashore in Galilee, the New Testament Christians received clear direction from the Spirit and were able to regain momentum and experience breakthrough.

DISSAPATION OF RESOURCES

Just as Elijah had foretold, the word of the Lord came to pass. "And there was a severe famine in Samaria ..." (1 Kings 18:2).

During the famine, God looked after Elijah. He gave him specific instruction relative to how he would be sustained. "Then the word of the Lord came to him, saying, 'Get away from here and turn eastward, and hide by the Brook Cherith, which flows into the Jordan. And it will be that you shall drink from the brook, and I have commanded the ravens to feed you there.' So he went and did according to the word of the Lord, for he went and stayed by the Brook Cherith, which flows into the Jordan. The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning, and bread and meat in the evening; and he drank from the brook" (1 Kings 17:2-6).

Cherith which means "place of covenant," was where the Lord demonstrated His faithfulness in taking care of Elijah. However, the day would come when the brook would run dry and the birds would no longer fly (see 1 Kings 17:7). Although Elijah had come to depend on such provision, God seemed to have no compunction at all in cutting off these resources.

Has Your Brook Dried Up?

Have you experienced something similar? Your streams of resource have dried up. During such a time, trust that the Lord will soon speak to you like He did to Elijah. "Then the word of the Lord came to him, saying, 'Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and dwell there. See, I have commanded a widow there to provide for you'" (1 Kings 17:8-9).

You will see that the place where He leads you will be the place where He feeds you. Where the Lord guides, He provides!

DISSOLUTION OF RELATIONSHIPS

Here is a powerful truth to embrace when a key connection you value has dissolved for no apparent legitimate reason:

The Lord is turning the hearts of men in the direction He desires (Prov. 21:1) and is, in fact, making it easier for you to let go and move forward into your next assignment. Therefore, do not take the matter personally nor become bitter with people as though they are rejecting you.

TRUSTING IN GOD'S GOOD GUIDANCE

Sometimes Father God's ways do not make sense to us. Scripture even attests to this reality. "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts" (Is. 55:9).

No matter how it may appear on the surface, He is actively involved in the affairs of our lives. On occasion, He may even interrupt our plans resulting in us experiencing a sense of anxiety due to a perceived loss of control. However, as uncomfortable as we may become, we must trust that He is leading us along the best pathway for our lives. "I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with My eye on you" (Ps. 32:8).

“The God Who Heals” By Bayless Conley:

“One of the most powerful and precious names that God ascribes to Himself is the name Jehovah Rapha, translated in Scripture as “the Lord who heals.”

We find God describing Himself this way in Exodus 15:26, where He says,

“If you diligently heed the voice of the LORD your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the LORD who heals you.”

This is powerful because whenever God says “I am” something, it’s a revelation of what and who He is by nature. And He is, by nature, a healer.

The psalmist describes this attribute of God this way in Psalm 103:1-3,

Bless the LORD, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases.

If you believe He forgives all your iniquities, then you must believe His next statement, “Who heals all your diseases.” It is as much in God’s nature to heal as it is to forgive.

If there’s one area where people are searching for answers, it certainly is over the issue of healing. So many people are confused, misled, and missing out on a blessing God intends for their life.

One of the fundamental teachings of Scripture is that healing is conditional. In Exodus 15:26 quoted above, notice that the first word of that verse is “If….”

“If” is the biggest little word in the Bible. And what God tells us in this passage is there is a condition He places on healing…“If you diligently heed the voice of the LORD your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep His statutes.”

Now, God is not requiring perfection. If you’re living for God and not consciously and willfully disobeying Him, then you have access to His healing. But if you’re living in known sin, it creates a barrier between you and God.

The Bible is very clear on this when the psalmist tells us in Psalm 66:18, “If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear.” So one vital key to accessing the healing power of our Lord is to live honestly before God…obeying His Word to the best of our ability and being quick to repent if we miss the mark.

Today, focus on the God who heals. Give Him your heart and trust Him with all of your tomorrows.”

the situation with the jabamis is just so... hog wild, and low key (high key) quite tragic because i think the ruination of this family is (in part) the result of childish innocence.

i do feel bad for tsugiko to a degree though because she sincerely believes her family is cursed by ludomania and she’s done some heinous shit to try to stop it from getting to her nieces

but now souko is traumatized, and we know she’s going to be institutionalized, and tsugiko is likely going to get metaphorically pummeled by a six year old yumeko then get ousted from the family she was trying to preserve. just because yumeko is Like That.

i’m starting to wonder if yumeko flashed back to souko when asked about “feeling regret for those whose lives she’s ruined” because it might up being her actions that broke the jabamis apart. souko is already Going Through It with the revelation about her parents, but we’ve already seen that she was willing to forgive or at least try to understand her aunt. at the heart of things, i think souko just wanted what was left of her family to stay together.

but because yumeko wanted in on the fun and was deemed by kirari to be eligible to play, it's looking very likely that she's going to defeat tsugiko, which will get her kicked out of the family and ultimately trample on whatever string souko is still holding on to.

yumeko displays this kind of...blasé tendency even now, but it hits differently when she's a child because children simply do not perceive the world like adults do - they lack a concept of severity and associated forethought, and ergo they don't fear things that adults do and they often don't share any adult concerns.

it's thespian, almost. i don't think yumeko is old enough to really realize what she's doing here, which in turn is making this game vs her aunt land differently to the reader from other gambles we've seen her in. like idk what you'd call "a child who just perceives everything as a game breaking her family apart because she wanted to play" if not a tragedy.

Azul moves into a rickety apartment with his mother and their old dog in tow. There's not much to do in such a secluded, small town and a lot of the residents made him want to do a wide berth around them. However, it still offered some good things too. Like the guy with a mask who looked much too intruiging for his own good.

Azul wasn't quite sure what he thought of the apartment his mother chose. Of course, it was her decision in the end - he didn't pay for it anyway. Still, couldn't she have gotten a place that's a bit nicer than this?

It was a 5 story apartment complex, 4 rentable rooms on each floor. It was a boring upright rectangle with more rectangles for windows, evenly spaced apart. Everything looked grey and sort of grimy, but in a way that wasn't very surprising for an old building like this. At least, it looked old but this style of architecture couldn't have been from too long ago.

He didn't want to continue wondering over this, so instead the boy walked into the lobby or well, first floor. One of the doors, 103, had a mailslot in it. "Addison" was spelled out on it and considering that was the same name the apartment complex was named after, he guessed the owner lived there.

Strange, he had never seen an owner actually live in one of the apartments they rent out. Well, maybe they couldn't afford much more. No wonder the building looked so run down, though at least the inside looked clean enough.

The teen stuck his right hand into his pants pocket and took out the key he had crammed into it. 104 it read on the tag attached to it. As if it were a hotel room key or something.

Whatever, at least this way the residents wouldn't be able to lose them. If anyone found them, they'd know immedietly who to go to.

He opened the door, looking at the empty space in front of him. Light shined through one of the dusty windows and illuminated the particles flowing around in the air. It looked peaceful.

Part of him wished they could have moved into one of the higher floors but they didn't have much of a choice. They had an old dog with a limp foot and he didn't like to use the elevator. Putting him through the stress of going up and down every time they walked him would border on abuse.

Speaking of, his mother was currently going around the block with their dog because they had driven for so long to get here. She should be back soon and then he'd have to help her move all the boxes inside. As well as the furniture.

How fun.

Now, Azul appreciated the fact they were on the ground floor a bit more. Though not by much, considering they did have an elevator they could have used had they been higher up. Still, it meant less distance to cover to get all those boxes and furniture inside the apartment and he'd take anything less difficult at this point.

Of course they had to move during the summer holidays and Azul understood why, but the heat made him think that this really wasn't the best time to move to a new place at all.

Sweat was dripping down his forehead and made stains under his arms and on his back. It didn't make any sense to go shower now unfortunately, since they weren't quite done yet. He hated this sensation.

"Sweetie?", his mother called from the kitchen, "How about you get us some ice from the kiosk we saw on the way here and we take a little break?"

"Sounds good", he replied just loud enough and stood up from the couch.

Over to the kitchen he went to receive some money and a wet kiss on the cheek he secretly wiped off when he was out of sight, before making his way to the kiosk. He glared upwards towards the sun and blinked away the bright spots it left behind in his vision. It felt like the weather was trying to make him as uncomfortable as possible, really.

The kiosk wasn't too far, just close enough that the ice would have a good chance not to melt on the way. The inside was cool and refreshing, making goosebumps appear on his arms. Over by the counter sat a man looking to be in his forties, smoking a cigarette and reading a newspaper.

Azul went to the freezer, looking through the glass top to see what options they had. His mother liked those orange flavored ones on a stick and it was good to see they had those. Now, for him...

The bell at the door chimed as it was opened again, letting in two teens around Azul's age. They hadn't seen him yet and he hoped it would stay that way. Sweat made his hands feel clammy and disgusting but he knew it wasn't because of the heat outside. Not when it was so cool in the shop.

"Oh hey, I haven't seen you around before", the taller of the two commented, clearly addressing Azul. The smaller one soon chimed in too and the masculine voice only sort of surprised him. The blue pigtails and the inability to see the teens face made them look very androgynous.

"Nockfell isn't that large, you know? Did you move here recently?"

"Hey, maybe they're one of the new tenants in 104!"

"It's he", Azul finally spoke up, his voice cracking and making him have to clear his throat. It was obvious he hadn't been loud enough.

"It's he, I'm Azure. You can call me Azul though."

Though he still wasn't fully looking at them - leaning on the freezer with one hand, the other fiddling with the edge of his shirt and shoulders pushed sort of up and inwards - at least he had managed to talk. His heart wasn't thanking him, pounding inside his ripcage. At least he could attribute any redness on his cheeks to the weather if anyone asked.

The fact they hadn't outright assumed he was a girl was sort of a win at least, though it still hurt that they didn't realise he was a boy. Though maybe they just didn't want to assume anything, in which case he could still look way to feminine-

"Oh yeah, sorry. Hey Azul, I'm Larry and that's Sally Face next to me."

He looked at the teen with the mask and frowned.

"Sally Face?"

It was a weird nickname and an even weirder name if it wasn't. 'Sally Face' hit Larry's side with his elbow.

"It's Sal, but my friends call me Sally Face. You can too if you want to."

Sal's voice sounded gentle, like he didn't want to scare Azul or make him uncomfortable. At least it must have been obvious how uncomfortable he already was, which was sort of good. He didn't like how good he was at pretending he was ok when he wasn't sometimes. It made people less likely to see him as weak and vulnerable, yeah but it also made them not believe him when he told them he struggled with something.

"Oh, ok," he just said, knowing full well how awkward he sounded. What was he even supposed to say now? Ah, right.

"And yeah, I moved into 104 at Addison Apartments with my mother or well, we're still moving in actually. We're just taking a break right now. Do you guys live there too?"

Nice job, Azul! He high fived himself inside his head.

Larry answered again this time, letting his hand fall from his side again which he had been lightly rubbing after Sal's attack on it.

"Yeah dude, Sal lives up in 402 and I'm down in the basement with my mom. She does all the maintanence stuff there."

"Here, take this card" - Sal handed him a card with a bunch of numbers on the back. - "You'll need it to get to the basement and Larry's mom always has a few extra. Now you can just come down and join us whenever you want to."

An invitation to hang out with them whenever you wanted without the pressure of actually having a set time and date. Azul looked down at the card for a moment before raising his gaze and putting it away into his pocket.

"Thank you, I'll see when I can come down."

He appreciated a lot, though he wasn't sure if it showed. However, Larry smiled and Sal nodded before they left him to do what he had intended: buying some ice and return to the apartment again.

Since his mother must have been waiting already, he just chose something quickly and bought it. One last glance into the store when he left through the door showed him Sal waving goodbye at him.

He waved back.

At home, Azul quickly got inside and gave his mother her ice popsicle. To avoid it melting too much, he had already opened his own and eaten most of it by the time he arrived. His mother thanked him and asked why it took so long. After all, the kiosk wasn't that far away.

"Oh I just... met some guys who live here too. They're around my age I think and they said I could come hang out with them when I wanted. You need a card to access the basement apparently, as well."

After a bit more chatter, they continued setting most of everything up and called it a day. The only thing left to do was get out all of their things from the boxes and sort them into the closets and shelves and cabinets. That could wait until tomorrow.

For now, it was time to sleep and Azul wanted nothing more than to collapse on his bed and let the darkness engulf him. So he did.
