Vande Bharat Express Trains Trials Likely on 10 February for Mumbai to Shirdi and Mumbai to Solapur Ghat Routes
The trial for Vande Bharat Express trains on two routes will take place on 10 February in the ghat sections. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be present to launch the said train for the routes Mumbai to Solapur and Mumbai to Shirdi. The high-speed train from Mumbai to Shirdi will probably run through the Thal ghat in Kasara clocking 5.25 hours and 340 kilometers.
And the Mumbai to Solapur Vande Bharat train will possibly run through the Bhor ghat, which is placed between Karjat and Khandala in the direction of Pune. It will cover 400 kilometers in 6.35 hours. Currently, additional locomotives or bankers are used to haul the trains that pass through both these ghats. The bankers also help to avoid train rollback if the parting of coaches occurs. A railway official said that they may receive trains within the next week and later from Chennai-based integrated Coach Factory.
And after this, the trials will begin for the ghat sections. The bankers attaching and detaching consumes a few minutes, leading to an increase in travel time because of technical halts. Vande Bharat Express will assist in substituting the bankers for the ghat sections as it will come with parking brakes. These brakes will avert the train from rolling down on a gradient. The trains will have a gradient of 1:37. It indicates a rise of 1 meter for every 37-meter run.
Thal ghat also known as Kasara ghat is 14 kilometre long. It runs between Kasara and Igatpuri sections. The Bhor ghat is known as Khandala ghat as well. It is around 25 kilometers long and runs between Karjat and Khandala stations. These ghats are also the toughest railway sections in India, with high via ducts and multiple tunnels.
Vande Bharat Express trains are equipped with automatic plug doors with sliding footsteps, a control management system to keep air-conditioning in check, a touch-free sliding door in the coach itself, and passenger infotainment and information system for each coach. The train also has ‘kavach’, which is a collision-avoidance system. Last but not the least, the train also has bio-vacuum toilets like those in airplanes.
There are a total of eight trains of Vande Bharat Express to date, which the center has launched for different inter-state routes. It also comprises one that runs between Mumbai and Gandhinagar. This is a semi-high-speed indigenously designed train. It is a self-propelled automotive with a set of 16 coaches, with a speed of 160 kmph covered in only 140 seconds, giving a better comfort and riding experience to passengers.

Monsoon night trek to KALSUBAI to watch sunrise
5 friends catch the 9:50 pm train to Kasara from Dadar on 18/06/2022 Saturday night. We reached Bari, the base village of Kalsubai at 2 am on Sunday night by hired vehicle from Kasara railway station.
We started the night trek with torches at 2:30 am and reached the top at around 6 am. It was very windy up there. We crossed 4 iron ladders which are quite sturdy and really helpful to traverse the vertical rock patches.
If you carry food items in plastic bags, you may be attacked by monkeys while crossing these ladders. So keep your belongings in your rucksack and climb the ladders using both the hands for support.
I was keen to see the rising sun from the top, but we were engulfed by the clouds. The Sun looked like the Moon through these thick clouds. The wind was howling and it was unbearable to withstand the strong winds, laced with pricking rain drops.
Route: Dadar > Kasara > Bari > Kalsubai > Bari > Kasara > Dadar.
Expenses: (All common expenses were equally shared in this TTMM trip/ trek as usual).
Rickshaw between home & railway stations = 85/-.
Return train ticket = 70/-.
Snacks = 125/-.
Shared vehicle = 600/- (3000/- for full vehicle).
Total = Approx. 880/-.

If it rains at night, it becomes difficult to trek.
Visibility is hampered at night.
PROS:
Since the way is not seen, one has no idea of how long or difficult the route is and it is a blessing in disguise. You can actually trek at ease.

Kasara Brown was only 24 years-old when she was tragically killed on September 15th, 2019. The young woman was eight months pregnant when she was shot multiple times at her home in Fitzgerald, Georgia. Both Kasara and the baby died as a result of the gunshot wounds.
According to reports, Kasara was already raising a 4-year-old and was looking forward to having a second child. She was expecting a baby girl whom she planned to name Avionna. The murder left the family to grieve not only the loss of Kasara, but Avionna as well.
Various news reports about Kasara's murder state that "investigators believed Brown’s murder was gang-related or that she may have been mistakenly killed or killed to send a message." It is unknown what, if any, evidence investigators have that indicate Kasara's murder might be gang related. Further details about this theory are unknown.
In 2021, Kasara's boyfriend/father of her unborn child, David Little Jr., was convicted for aggravated battery on a pregnant woman. That pregnant woman was none other than Kasara Brown; the charges stemmed from an incident that occurred prior to Kasara's murder. Kasara's family members told reporters that they had no idea that her relationship with Little was abusive. In that same report, a detective working the case was asked if Little was a suspect in Kasara's murder. The detective stated that information could not be provided.
Since then, very few updates in Kasara's case have been provided. There are several agencies involved in the investigation, including FBI, GBI, and the Ben Hill County Sheriff’s Office. There is a monetary reward offered for anyone who could lead to the conviction of Kasara's killer(s). If you have any information that could help the investigation, please submit a tip.

Sunrise at Kalsubai, the TALLEST peak of Maharashtra
Build up before the sunrise from Kalsubai or KalsuAai:

1. Experience.
We were 16 of us together and we called ourselves, "sweet 16" & the sharing and caring under able leadership of my friend, DrJVT was wonderful.

LONG QUEUES TO ASCEND & DESCEND LASTING MORE THAN AN HOUR with unruly tourists masquerading as trekkers is the norm now.
↑ Serpentine queue to climb the ladder. The 4 long ladders en route make the trek safe, but now you need patience to cross them. ↓
2. How to go?
Grade - medium, since it is a long trek. Best part of night trek is that since you cannot see anything beyond the short reach of the torch, the sense of distance is not felt and one reaches quickly. In he daytime, when Kalsubai looms large over you, it really feels long in the hot sun.

Two non-AC 8-seater Omni passenger vans were hired from Kasara railway statiion to Bari & back.
3. Time frame:
2/3/24 Saturday night.
Second last train to Kasara reaches at 1:30 am on 3/3/24.
3/3/24 Sunday night.
1:45 am - start from Kasara to Bari in vehicle.
3:15 am reach Bari.
3:30 am - trek starts.
7 am - reach temple at the peak.
9:45 am - descent trek starts.
12:30 pm - reach Bari & return journey to Kasara in vehicle starts.
2 pm - reach Kasara railway station.
2:40 pm - train from Kasara taken.
6 pm - home sweet home.
4. Expenses:
70/- rick between home to station (twice).
70/- return train ticket.
400/- Maruti Omni Van ferrying 8 passengers = 3200/- total.
200/- snacks.
TOTAL = 740/- per head in TTMM as usual!

In March 2024: Balu Khade was providing twin or triple sharing tent with foam mattress for insulation on the floor with breakfast & dinner at Kalsubai peak, for 1000 INR/- per person (These things are variable and will change as per season, demand & supply).
