Imagine meeting Kartien for the first time.

Imagine being as narcissistic as your future lover Kartien. Possessing the same healing abilities and beauty. Growing up alone in such a harsh environment, it wasn't surprising you grew up and lived as one of those aggressive awakened ones. It wasn't until you were beaten and put into place of your now friend that you were able to settle down and calm down, not giving a single care about the world.

"What do you mean there an actual world ranking of awakened one based on their beauty??" "You didn't know? You were ranked second." Your friend, now adoptive sibling, spoke as if it wasn't a big deal. But it was for you. Second? Second?! "Who fuck- who's number one?" "Kartien... So- hey? Wait where are you going? (First name)??!"

Imagine going for a hunt, leaving havoc whenever you go as you went for a hunt towards the first rank when it comes to awakened one beauty. Because goddamn it all, second? You're second? Have everyone gone blind? Why should you be on the second place when you're supposed to be on the first place? You cannot accept this. Not in a million years. You need to see whoever the fuck it is that was in the first place.

Imagine the first time you met him, you never knew it was him until later. Going back to Japan for a quick break in your search hunt. Going inside a familiar expensive bar, you spotted your adoptive older sibling inside behind the bar. But that someone in front of them, one who had his back turned into you was the one which caught your attention. Just looking from behind, you can tell that they were beautiful.

Imagine how right you were, grabbing the chance to sit on the vacant seat right beside the person. You grin at your sibling, who raised a brow at your arrival. At the same time, the person you were sitting beside didn't even spare you a glance, nor did that person speak. This makes you pay more attention to them. Tapping the bar counter for a good couple of times until the person next to you turn to look at you with irritation.

"What?" "Why hello there too, handsome." You spoke with a smile. Damn it. This guy, this man is handsome. Like you have to admit, this man could be worthy of your beauty, not bad honesty. With just one look on his face, you wanted to make him yours. He has to be yours. But instead of replying to your greetings, the man just scoffs and rolls his eyes at you, causing your eyes to twitch.

Imagine the way you tried to talk to him as well as make a move on him, but this guy just ignored you like you were nobody. It you were a normal person, you would really mind or perhaps cry in embarrassment, but you aren't. Instead, you continue to talk annoy to him the whole night.

Imagine taking your time to annoy the shit of this guy before leaving, talking to your forgotten sibling across the counter before doing so and leaving without a trace but of course not before leaving your phone number for the guy. Take it or leave it, you say. You're pretty sure he was just playing hard to get. "You have an annoying one hell of a sibling." "You didn't kill them tho."

Imagine after a year of trying to track down the number one awakened one when it comes to beauty. Here you are both standing toe to toe to each other, hands on each other collar as you both look at each other with hostility.

"I can't believe I left you off the hook that night! I should have known that barely above average guy was the one holding the number one title!" "Hah! Coming from a mere number two like you?" He scoffs, refusing to let go of your collar unless you do. "Don't make me laugh. You don't even fit to fill in the second spot coming after me like this."

Imagine the way you held on into his collar tighter before using all your strength to bump your head into him. It was strange, honestly, as both of you have the power of the top fifty among the world ranking, and here you are fighting without using any of your abilities, just pure physical force.

"Oh really?! For your information, not only do I have what it takes to be the second, but I also have what it takes to be the first!" You spoke as soon as you headbutted with him. "You, on the other hand, don't even have what it takes to be my lover." "What did you say?" If looks could kill, you'll be killing each other. "I said you. Don't have what it takes to be my lover." "Says who?" "Me." "Who says I can't?" "I said you can't be. Didn't you said you can't be?" "You bi- I never said that." For the first time, he seems calm as he looks away from you.

Imagine the way you smirk, but quickly put on a fierce look once again. "You didn't? But then you rejected my advances. In the end, you can't be my lover." "I can't be your lover?" He scoffs, pulling away from you before grabbing you by our collar once again. "Listen, if there is someone who isn't have what it takes to be my lover, that would be you." This time it was your time to scoff. "Oh really? Why don't you see it for yourself then?" This time, you smirk. "Let's be each other's lover. Then we'll see who among us isn't fitted to be the lover." There was a moment of silence after that.

Imagine the way you look at him, his eyes staring back at you with some sort of unreadable look on his face. With him will holding you by your collar, you tilt your head to the side before relaxing at his touch. "Can't do it? Kartien?" You smirk, obviously provoking him. "Afraid you'll fall for me-?!"

Imagine the way your (eye color) iris widened and shaken as your words were cut off by a pair of lips. "I hate people talking nonsense." He then licked his lips, you gulp. "We'll see which one of us is scared." Letting you go, he turn his back into you, his lips unknowingly curling up into a small smile before he stops and turn around, there was no smile on his face. "Ask your siblings my number." "I gave you mine didn't I?" "I throw it." "How mean." You chuckle. Truthfully, he didn't, your phone number was saved long ago om his phone, but you didn't know that, nor will he ever admit then, now, or in the future.

So this is my first time doing this so I don't know if it's going to be good or not constructive criticism is appreciated.

So I recently I thought it would be kind of funny if some characters where followed around by a child because the child thought the character was someone they admired so I thought I would write this. The reader is a 3 year old girl here.

Featuring

Kartien, Veremonte

Kartien

He was at the store buying cat food, was definitely a bit extra wearing his full ensemble

He notices pretty quickly that the 3 year old girl is staring at him, it was kind of hard to miss her, given the little light up fairy wings and bright pink tutu she was wearing.

He doesn't really care much and wrote it off as the child just loving magic, until said 3 year old follows him around like a duckling while doing a bad job at hiding. The light up wings gives her away giving her away like a neon sign.

He's actually in a some what good mood that day and decides to talk to the child.

Any reason you're following me around you should be staying close with your mother instead of following strangers.

Child reader quickly shuffles to him with sparkles in her eyes

Mister are you a fairy your eyes are like pretty blue diamonds, and your face is really really beautiful, oh oh if you're a fairy does that mean you have a really pretty unicorn too? Do you have really pretty fairy magic? Since you're so beautiful your magic must be pretty too.

Kartien gives a light chuckle and squats down to readers height.

I'm not a fairy and I too wish I had a pretty unicorn, and you're quite adorable yourself so I think you'll make quite the adorable little fairy.

Really? you think I can be a fairy? You're the best I like you a lot and even if you're not a fairy.

Child reader happily bounces up and down and does a little dance in joy.

Ooh oops I didn't tell you my name I'm Y/n it's nice to meet you mister.

I'm Kartien it's nice to meet you too.

Umm mister Kartien I know you told me not to follow strangers but um I think I lost mommy... sowwy.

Kartien gives a tired sigh and shakes his head, grabs the cat food and takes child reader with him to the lost counter. Gives you a long lecture while you wait for your mother on why you shouldn't trust strangers.

Turns out you're neighbours with Jiwoo whenever you see Kartien you always run up to say hello, and give him something fairy related,like flowers crowns or little drawings. He's the first person you show any magic tricks you learn. The gang has made you an honorary member.

*side note: you don't know that he turns into a cat but you specially made cat Kartien a little sweater with a unicorn. Doesn't admit it but he likes the sweater.

Veremonte

Reader

He and his grandsons are out for simple outing, they finished some sort of important meeting and are now sightseeing realise they are being watched and that it may be a security measure at first. Veremonte realises that there isn't any unknown awakener nearby since he doesn't sense anything.

Jurion is the first to realise it's just a little girl following them on account of the little girl wearing a huge fluffy bright pink coat and a little hat with raindeer antlers.

Ppft aww she like, a little pink cotton ball with antlers.

Veremonte waves at the child and signals her to come over

Little one why are you following us? you must stay with your mother she must be in a fright at this moment.

The little girl cupped her hands around her face like she was trying to whisper

Umm mister Santa Claus are you on spy mode right now?

Santa Claus?

Ppft

Spy mode?

You twiddle your gloved fingers while shuffling your feet

Uh huh spy mode, mama said Santa is super big, has a fluffy white beard,a big coat, and a loud laugh. So um are you on spy mode to see who to put on the naughty or nice list?

Ian is trying not to laugh, Jurion face freezes and Veremonte is in shock.

You walk up and tug at the end of Jurion's coat while looking up at him in curiousty

Um mister if he's Santa does that make you the head of the eleves at Santas toy workshop? Mama said elves are pretty and you're pretty and he is too also my name is Y/n

You say while also starring at Ian who is now attempting to cover his mouth as he choked on laughter

Aww thanks little bud you're hilarious

Ian..*sigh*.. little one I'm not Santa Claus neither is Jurion an elf. I am Veremonte and the one laughing is Ian. Little one you should not run behind strangers just because you think they look like Santa. It could be very dangerous and something bad could happen.

You pout and sadly look at your shoes

Sowwy mister Veremonte

Veremonte chuckles and gently pats your head

Say why were you so concerned about whether or not you were on the naughty list?

Thewe was a boy at school he said my cat Mittens looked ugly so I bit him

Good for you he deserved to be bit

Ian lifts his hands in mock surrender and squats down to your eye level

Ok ok listen I'm sure you'll get back on Santa's good kid list, just uhh eat all your veggies and milk or something okay

WEALLY? Okay I pwomise to eat all my veggies and dwink all my milk

You happily bounce up and down and give Ian a hug

Thank you bye bye mister's

You happily wave and run off

She's probably lost she came from the other direction.

She's going to come back here isn't she?

Definitely I give her 5 minutes max.

You're back in 4 minutes and tugging at Veremonte's coat

Ian holds your hand and they take you to the lost child centre, you receive the stranger danger lecture from Veremonte as you wait for your mother.

Side note: Ian now sometimes calls Veremonte grandfather Santa.

੭ﾞ* 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗞𝗮𝗻𝗴

Suman is very emotional with people he cherishes and loves. Hearing about your sudden death breaks him. He didn't know you were out on a dangerous mission as you didn't want to bother him. You died, killed by your opponent.

Suman will be heartbroken and he needs a lot of support and help to go back on his feet. He leaves Baekdu behind as he can't be proud of what you and he built up again. You two fixed Baekdu and now, a big piece of his and the whole company, gone. His colleges will try to make him forget, but never could he.

He swore himself to you, so no other person will ever reach this far too him. Suman feels lost in the world and he feels even worse since he couldn't say goodbye. When he reached you, you were already in another place. He'd love to tell you one time again how much he loved you, how much he was committed to you and how much he misses you every day and night.

He has nightmares of your death nearly every night. He started suffering from insomnia and got prescribed medication, but it doesn't make his dreams less painful.

Though, after a long time suffering and bathing in hatred, agony and regret, he will see light in Bakedu. He gets himself a therapist and besides that he wants to continue caring for what he did with you. You'd only want him to be strong and care for your company. He takes responsibility again, which was a high rise for Beakdu.

The incident caused Sucheon and Suman to grow closer too in an unexpected way. Sucheon would approach him, dissing him for being useless and how you could love him. Suman and him would fight, which released a lot of frustration off of him. Since then, they talk about their feelings more often and have a brotherly relationship.

Your death painted his heart in blood though and he'd never be able to fall in love again. He loved you so much and cried so much for you.

੭ﾞ* 𝗞𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗶𝗻

If I'm honest, I'm not sure how Kartein would react to such a message. He either would lock himself totally up and act like nothing ever hurt him or he'd fall in desperation and leave himself behind.

He always protected you in some way and seeing your death after a battle scratched his heart open. He bled a lot for your sake but he didn't think you'd die. Kartein tried to use his awakened powers to revive you. Nothing worked. Hatred built up in himself.

He wasn't able to save you, what's the point of continuing now? Kartein would lose a lot of elegance and would see no priority in keeping himself as noble and clean as he was.

Kartein wouldn't dare to help anyone in need anymore, for no knowledge and no money. His power was proven to be useless at yours, so he lost confidence and proudness. Kartein couldn't look an injured in the eyes without seeing you. It would break his fragile personality every time.

I think Kartein would do a form of harm to himself. Maybe inflicting pain or heavy scratching when he faces traumatic pictures of your dead body. I'm not sure why but in my eyes Kartein has a soft and tiny heard which his hard to repair.

He'd may try to sleep his depression away with another person but wouldn't get far with it and break down in the middle of the act. The person would later end up some sort of therapy friend. He'd later find out he's unable to feel any sexual attraction anymore and emotionally he's so engaged with you, that another person wouldn't occur in his life again for some longer time.

੭ﾞ* 𝗞𝗮𝘆𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸

He didn't see your lifeless body nor did he attend your funeral. What can I say? I think Kayden handles a big loss in a way of loneliness. He wouldn't attend your funeral because he sees your death as his fault and he doesn't know how to approach everyone who's there to remember your presence. In fact, Kayden will make a funeral of you for himself. He will bury his engagement ring in order to leave the pain behind.

He's quite cold about it. Of course, emotions will surround and drown him but he can set himself free somehow. After a long time pushing Jiwoo to his limit to see him succeed, at least one he adores, he realized he can't make Jiwoo pay for what happened for you. He softenes up and starts to see good memories of you two.

The mindswitch made him more powerful than ever. He not only carries his bare strength, he owns your pride and life on his shoulders. He will make everyone see how strong and undefeatedable he is with you. Somewhere you live in his mind and he will recall wholesome memories to ease himself up. Finding peace in your death was easy compared to the other two. He accepts your death but he will never forget you.

I see Kayden as someone who starts dating only a year after your passing. Not because he's some sort of therapy idiot but he knows you're on his side and he knows he maybe could find someone with the same destiny. Jiwoo supports him a lot too, he gets stronger to make Kayden feel confident in his powers.

Kayden would pray every evening to a candle that you live a good life somewhere along and you won't bear any pain anymore. He isn't religious or anything but he thinks your soul wanders along him.

੭ﾞ* 𝗚𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘀𝗲𝗼𝗸 𝗖𝗵𝗼𝗶

Gangseok, one of the strongest rookies in Korea, broke into pieces when the message reached him. Gangseok isn't very emotional at all but the surrounding people will see him cry and sob after he heard about your death. He'd fall in a big crisis.

You didn't tell him that you were having a tumor and when it killed you, he couldn't do anything but cry. He was in the hospital some moments after you passed and saw your pale face. It surely changed a lot of things in his feelings. Seeing you pale with closed eyes, knowing he'd never see these beautiful crystals again, gives him stabs in the heart.

Gangseok stops going to training because he's getting overpowered by depression and anxiety. He got afraid of himself and his actions when he caught himself with a knife in his hands and intrusive thoughts. Jiwoo and all the others managed to get his butt up though. Jisuk annoyed him so much he got Gangseok to fight again after a long time.

He unknowingly did force control all the time he seeked in sorrow and sadness. He got so much stronger by your death but he feels like he shouldn't use it too much. That results in Gangseok focusing on his studies and quit training. He endangers himself because he got unaffiliated and is known to be strong but no one beat him yet. Gangseok wants to help people somehow, by facing his biggest fear and trauma: cancer, which took you down.

He will eventually start dating again. Gangseok wouldn't seek in his suffering too long. Shortly an awakened business contacted him which deals with cancer patients in awakened ones. Since then he trains and works there, helping others. It makes him feel a little closer to you and gives him some sort of goodbye.

੭ﾞ* 𝗦𝘂𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗼𝗻 𝗞𝗮𝗻𝗴

Sucheon passed out during a battle due heavy injuries. Little did he know your injuries took your life. When he wakes up in the hospital and sees a picture of you both on the seat and some flowers, he starts crying. Yet another death close to him and this one was his beloved partner.

He never imagined he could feel that much emptiness yet fullness at the same time. He drowns in himself and closes up to everyone. He was unable to protect his dear from danger, yet he was too weak, once again, he couldn't please the important people around him.

Your death would emerge a fire in him that meant revenge and hate. He starts fighting and training until his lungs burst. Suman never saw his nephew this aggressive but powerful. His rage and madness could kill and it was meant to destroy everything that took you away from him.

Where others try to move on and find peace with a death, he sinks deeper and deeper into it, wanting revenge and blood of the one's who killed you. He'd grow so much his power wouldn't be recognized as safe. He is an uncontrollable beast and shortly after your death he wasn't allowed to train with other kids anymore. Only professionals are allowed to fight him.

Sucheon wouldn't be able to let any other finger than his uncle's touch him. Not another love, not another loss, not another weakness should develop. Your death broke him, it gave his rage freedom and it won't be satisfied until he took revenge on everyone who hurt you ever and including himself. He never forgave himself for being too weak.

KARTEIN

✽ — suffice to say this man spent too much time worrying about his dear sibling. You can imagine his absolute exasperation after finding out they’re alive, and well, and away from harm, but not only that; married and with a child too.

✽ — “You are insane,” are the first things he says. “Do you have any idea how long I’ve been searching for you? Idiot. You don’t even contact your own brother?” – most likely goes on a tangent like this. Demands to be told the whole story too, from start to finish. But naturally his mild annoyance wears down and, at the very core, he lets his sibling know he’s just relieved to find them safe, contented, and happy. Might get the tiniest bit emotional and allow a once in a lifetime hug. Might.

✽ — He connects with the MC’s extended family well, after spending time with them and somewhat getting to know their spouse and kid. Kartein, as with all things, prides himself on his exquisite taste for people, so once he’s gotten to know his sibling’s spouse long enough he approves quite well of them. Cue Kartein now sponsoring their fancy dinner dates and overseas flights.

✽ — NOW THE BABY. Oh, the baby.

✽ — At first look Kartein might not be the image everyone’s mind conjures when they think of a person that likes children, but Kartein actually has a very big soft spot for his niece/nephew. Occasionally, he mulls over the fact that his sibling just disappeared without telling him and, most of all, never informed him about his niece/nephew, but he respects his sibling’s choices and decisions and is just happy he gets to spend time with family.

✽ — When I say he spoils them, he spoils them. All the effort when it comes to toys and books and clothes. Birthdays? Kartein has a whole stash of presents ready. Christmas? New Year? Halloween? This uncle is ready for every season and holiday imaginable. All the gifts are expensive as hell too, with some even being personalized or gold-plated or studded with little diamonds — MC has to remind Kartein to go easy on the kids lest they grow up to become too materialistic 😭

✽ — He’s down for babysitting too. The first few times might not be the smoothest, as Kartein still isn’t well-versed in the likes and dislikes of children (they’re mildly gross too, always sticky and eating things off the floor...) but he soon takes up to the challenge of constantly taking care of his sibling’s kid/s. He reads them books and lets them tinker around with his healing apparatus, converses with them on anything they have in mind, and wholly supports their interests and anything their little hearts want to discover and learn. Becomes skilled at braiding hair and washing clothes and sewing/patching up any ripped blankets, shirts, or stuffed toys.

✽ — Speaking of stuffed toys/plushies: the kids would definitely bring any of their broken toys for Kartein to ‘heal.’ Kartein could never say no, so of course he pretends to use his powers (for some reason, it works sometimes,) or secretly repair them. It never fails to make the kids smile and, by extension, see Kartein as their ultimate idol.

✽ — Most likely talks to his nephew/niece about refined culture too, whether it be about music, visual arts, fine arts, fashion, or sciences like astronomy, anatomy, or botany. They visit museums and galleries every once in a while together, Kartein not being able to resist buying them anything they want when they go to gift shops.

✽ — Because it’s Kartein, the kids will be eating haute cuisine every time they come to his place for sure.

✽ — I see him as the type to help kids out with their homework and helps them improve on anything school-related that they’re stuck with, especially with mathematics or sciences. Of course he is greatly proud when the kids come home from school and boast about their accomplishments.

✽ — He’s a great uncle overall. MC has a growing comptetitive streak with him since the kids like their Uncle Kartein a little too much more than their own parent 😭 Either way, it’s just good that they, as siblings, get to see each other again, knowing their family is safe.

KAYDEN

✽ — This man is just relieved that his sibling is alive once he gets to see them. Immense strength runs in their genes anyway, so he was only slightly worried when news of MC disappearing got to him. As always, he just knows they can handle their self.

✽ — BUT THE FAMILY? Man, Kayden uses this to tease MC to no end. You really went all out once you were away, huh? Remarks like that were going to be frequent and then cranked up to a thousand once the siblings reunite. He can’t help it, Kayden is a professional shit-talker.

✽ — All jokes aside though, Kayden is Kayden to the bone and he just respects his sibling’s decision as well. As long as you’re safe, just do what you want to do. He forges a civil relationship with the sibling’s s/o and thanks them for looking out for his beloved sibling. May or may not reveal past childhood stories about his sibling to the s/o during dinner, who knows.

✽ — Onto the most important part: The Baby.

✽ — Now, if the baby were a little older, Kayden would actually know what he’s doing since...he’s got a kid (? a seventeen-year-old apprentice is more or less a kid, right?) that he’s gotten to know over time. But if it was an infant we were talking about, well...Kayden has a tiny fear of, I don’t know, not being able to hold them properly since those things were so fragile and stuff.

✽ — But he does make up for bonding with the baby through playtimes; shaking their little rattle for them and doing puppet shows for the baby, etc. etc. Follows a routinely schedule of mealtimes and naptimes and soaking-the-baby-in-the-sun times, just as he was with Jiwoo’s kitties. Basically carries over what strategies he has from being a full-time cat father, modifies it a bit, then applies it when he’s on Uncle Duty.

✽ — When the kid grows a little older, you bet they’ll hang out all the time with their Cool Uncle Kayden. Now, it can get a bit hard to bond with your niece/nephew when you’re an internationally renowned Awakener with hundreds upon hundreds of bloodthirsty enemies on your trail, but Kayden does his goddamn best to make sure they’re safe, happy, and having a great time overall. Goes along with them to parks, helps them in physical activities (and might even train them upon request too), treats them to ice cream and goes with them to the roller skating rink every weekend on the agreement that they finish their vegetables and take care of their physical health. It’s really a cool time.

✽ — When they’re Older Older, maybe somewhere around Jiwoo’s age or a little younger, that’s where even more training kicks in. To Kartein’s distaste, who thinks Kayden being fight-crazy enough to even teach his niece/nephew as well is sooo absurd (/j all the time of course), Kayden helps them improve on their abilities and powers from a developing stage. He’s always a great mentor as he usually is, and it’s not that different from what we see with how he trains Jiwoo. Is so, so fond and proud of his nieces and nephews when they fully utilize their potential to the maximum and beats their opponents’ asses during sparring.

✽ — Is the basis of gossip at the niece/nephew’s school. I place my bets that these kids have to suffer whispers of omg is that your uncle is he like an actor or a model omg omgomg from both students and teachers alike every time Kayden has to pick them up from school or something.

✽ — 10000/10 Awesome Uncle he’s surprisingly wise, fun, and a little goofy but also kind of a menace which, come on, who doesn’t love a menace? MC kind of gets headaches from it though. Kayden was already a pain in the ass growing up, him letting their own kids join him in being menaces just adds to the trouble. (They all love one another though. One can just say that teasing is a love language in their family.)
