The Family of Destruction- Blind Betrayal.

If you saw my wwe 2k post about Leon and kevins storyline then you will already have some sort of idea what's going on here.

Okay, this was supposed to be about that, but I became..well fuck, I became sad and this turned darker than expected do you know the drill. Read with cation. It just became a way for me to vent instead of actually venting. I hope to do the og idea someday. So here's a gore warning for towards the end. This is fictional (ofc) and vent work. The cult is having some fun and I'm not.

Shawn doesn't know what to say as he holds the ice pack to the back of Leon's head. Leon hasn't said a word since he carried drew back. Drew was quickly shipped off to the nearest hospital. Leon didn't have to say anything, his face said it all. He had just been stabbed in the back by the man he loved the most.

Leon lowers his head as rage simmers in his body. Shawn didn't know what to do. He hasn't seen hunter or vince since this whole thing went down. He looks at the tag belt to see Leon's belt stained with drews blood. Leon let's out a quiet growl before raising a hand to cover his eyes. Shawns heart breaks for the boy. His own family has turned on him.

Shawn looks from Leon as cassie and Rhea run in. "We saw what happened!" Cassie pants. "You alright Lee?" Rhea asks. The room stays silent before Leon is suddenly standing, causing shawn to jerk back slightly, and is throwing his chair against the wall. "FUCK!" He yells. Shawn moves towards Rhea and cassie as Leon finds more things to throw and kick whilst shouting curses. "Ill take that as a no.." cassie whispers watching her brother. Leon's hand shakes as he spots the belt. The trio watch quietly as Leon slowly picks the belt up.

Leon stares at the blood staining his name plate. He doesn't know what's happening to him as he feels a sudden thumping in his chest. He lets the belt hang losely from his hand as he uses the other to grip his chest. "Lee?" Shawn asks softly. Leon does something that takes them all by surprise. He breaks down.

It starts with a quiet laughter which rises to something mad. As he slowly falls to his knees the laughter turns into sobs. "Why! WHY?! Why would he do this?!" Leon cries slamming his fist against the floor. Shawn doesn't know how to answer that. Hell, the one person who's good at dealing with Leon's breakdowns is the person causing it. The other is in a hospital bed.

Rhea and cassie jump as Taker stands next to them. "Get up Leon." Taker orders. Shawn looks at the man confused. Leon ignores his father, not in the mood for the mans judgement. "I said, get up" Taker snaps moving closer. Leon let's himself be pulled up, the belt slipping to the floor as he goes. Taker rests him against the wall and forces Leon to look at him. "We don't do this." Taker tells him. Leon stares at him. "When the world turns it back on you, you turn your back on the world" Taker growls. Shawn pauses. Did his husband just quote lion King? Rhea raises an eyebrow and looks at cassie. Leon's eyes darken before starting to glitch. "I raised you to be a fighter. Someone hurts the one's you love, you make sure they know it" Taker tells him. Leon's eyes glow purple and he nods. "Thats my boy" Taker whispers.

Kevin tilts his head back. What the hell has he gotten himself into? "You did the right thing..." that voice sighs. "Did I?" Kevin growls. "You saved more lives by putting that one in a hosptial bed." It chuckles. Kevin lowers his head as his jaw clenches. 'Youll get what's coming to you...you bastard.' Kevin thinks to himself as his eyes burn into the devil himself.

Vince watches as Kevin paces the ring. "How are the fans reacting?" Shawn asks as he walks in. "Exactly how you'd expect. They hate him but love the new attitude" vince sighs. Taker hums as he watches Kevin speak to the crowd. "Something is wrong about this whole thing" Taker speaks up. "Of course! My bestfriend, Leon and cassies uncle! Has hospitalised drew and stabbed Leon in the back!" Shawn snaps. Hunter leans back in his chair. "No...taker has a point..why didn't Leon go with drew? He refuses to leave drews side if he even scrapes his knee" hunter states. Shawn pauses. "Did you see his eyes yesterday? Before they turned purple?" Taker asks. Shawns eyes widen. "They glitched" Shawn gasps looking at taker.

"Uh guys?" Vince calls. They look back at the screens to seem them all glitching out. "Leon's here" Taker mutters as they clear.

Kevin pauses as the lights flicker and the tron glitches. He can't help but smile. "Hey kid" Kevin chuckles into his mic. "No! No nicknames. No kid, no Lee, no nothing!" Leon yells. Kevin turns to see the demon behind him. Eyes glowing purple. "This doesn't have to go down that road" Kevin states. "You should of thought about that! You know how much those belts meant to me! How much drew meant to me! How much I loved you!" Leon yells. Kevin's eyes widen and his heart stops. "Leon.." Kevin whispers. "Why? Why me? Haven't I been through enough?" Leon whispers causing the crowd to boo Kevin. Kevin lowers his mic at the defeated boy infront of him.

Shawn can't help the tears. His family is falling apart and the world is watching. Its his biggest nightmare. "Who the fuck is that?" Taker asks.

Kevin looks at the hooded figure behind Leon. Kevin eyes the skeleton blade in their hand. All for nothing right?

Leon looks at kevin, his purple eyes glitching as he smiles manically. Kevin can't help but smile back at the boy.

"Something is wrong! Kevin would never! Taker!" Shawn tells. "There's some sort of hex! I can't even walk out of this room-" taker cuts himself off and his eyes widen. "He knew I'd be in here...how did he.." Taker whispers. "Who?" Hunter demands.

Kevin finds himself pleading with God, hell even the devil, as the blade lifts. Leon just keeps smiling, laughing at Kevin. Images of a better time. A younger pure Leon. Flash in Kevin's mind. He needs this.

As the knife goes to stab Leon, his hand moves faster and in a flash the hooded figure is shoved against the ring and Leon is twirling the knife. Kevin smiles wider. 'Thank you' he thinks to whoevers listening.

"What the hell is going on?!" Taker growls at the tv. "Is that kane?" Hunter asks. Takers heart actually races at the idea of kane trying to kill his son. But no. That cannot be happening. Taker is at peace when kane bursts in with cassie and Rhea. "Who is that?!" Cassie snaps.

Leon shoves the hooded figure in the ring and grabs a sledgehammer before climbing in. He stands in front of Kevin. Kevin eyes him before holding his mic out. The crowd watch on confused. "I know your all confused. But you see, the truth is.." Leon begins.

His family stay close to the tv. Leon looks dead at the camera. "Kevin nash couldn't have done it without me" Leon smirks getting gasps and yells of protest. Shawns eyes widen. "Why would he hurt drew?" Cassie whispers in pain. Taker just stares at his son. Why would he do that too drew?

Kevin smirks. "I gave him the perfect set up. Managed to fool all of you. Even my own family. A few breakdowns out back and they were eating out of the palm of my hand" Leon laughs before lowering the mic. "WHAT ABOUT DREW!" A fan yells. "YOU ASSHOLE!" "YOU HURT DREW!" Leon smiles softly and looks down at the blade in his hand. The blade that haunts his nightmares. "Your right. I set my partner up and now he's laying in a hospital bed." Leon speaks softly into the mic. "But he just didn't understand. He couldn't..." Leon slowly looks into the camera. "Get with the program" he smirks as his eyes glitch.

Kane looks at taker. 'Paul' he signs. "It can't be..Leon would never...he wouldn't." Taker growls before looking back at the screen.

Leon nudges the hooded figure with the end of the hammer. "Alright, up you get. You managed to get these fools fearing for me" Leon chuckles. The crowd fall into chaos as the figure stands and Leon pulls the hood down to reveal finn. Finn laughs and hugs Leon.

"Finn?" Cassie whispers. "How did they get the blade?!" Shawn demands. Taker tries to wrap his head around all of this. "Kevin. Kevin is the only one human. Only he could open the case." Taker states. "You don't think anyone else is wrapped up in this...do you?" Rhea asks. Cassie looks at her. "Has anyone seen alexa? Bray?" She asks. Hunter looks at vince. "They never turned up today.." vince states. "What have you done Leon?" Taker whispers as pain surges through his heart.

No one has seen Kevin, Leon, finn, alexa or bray since that night. The lights blacked out and the trio disappeared, leaving the mic, hood and Hanmer. Shawn and cassie went to drews hosptial bed. He too was gone.

Taker is sat, hunched over on the bench. He holds his head and tries to think it through. "What have I missed?" Taker asks himself quietly. He sits up and leans back. Shawn is staring at him. Shawn has became heartbroken. Ironic, right? "What did I miss Shawn?" Taker asks quietly. Shawn looks at taker with dead eyes. He doesn't say a word. He doesn't flinch or move when kane and cassie burst in. "What? What is it?" Taker demands standing up. "Youneedtotirnthetvonrightnow!" Cassie forces out and well..no one catches a word of it. 'TV on now' kane signs. "Thanks kane" Taker sighs turning the tv on.

Takers heart drops.

Shatters

Fuckin explodes.

Paul is smiling at the camera. Leon is sat infront of him like a lifeless doll.

Shawn slowly stands and stares at the tv.

"Thank you for making me the perfect little weapon Undertaker" Paul smirks squeezing Leon's shoulders. Taker clenches his fist as he spots Kevin stood behind Paul and finn next to him. "Infact, thank you shawn. For giving Leon Kevin. At first I thought drew would be the best way to break the boy...but then...then! I remembered about good old uncle Kevin! And how little Leon adores him, looks up to him..seeks his approval. Sees him as a father" Paul spits. The last part causing Taker to swallow and it stings like he's swallowing venom. He will always hate the idea that his own children need to seek out a new father. That he's that bad. That he could never be as good as a father as his.

"And then I figured it out! If I hurt drew...using Kevin? Two for one" Paul smirks. "Say hello to the biggest force to enter the wwe in years" Paul chuckles as the camera backs up to reveal alexa and bray stood with the other two. "Say hello to papa leon" Paul whispers lifting Leon's face. Shawns eyes widen as Leon's eyes are completely white. How lifeless Leon is in Paul's hand. Leon's head tilts to the side before dropping down before the tv turns off.

Shawn stares at the blank TV. "How did he get Kevin.. " Taker whispers. "What has he done with drew?" Cassie asks. Kane looks at her. Taker looks at shawn. "Shawn?" Taker asks going to touch him. Shawn jerks away. "Leave me alone" Shawn growls. Takers eyes widen in pain. "W-what? Pa?" Cassie gasps. "All of you! Leave me alone!" Shawn yells before storming out. Taker stays still, staring at his empty hand. "Hes destroying our family...he's winning.." cassie whispers as tears roll down her face. Kane frowns and pulls her into a hug. He looks at taker. He won't let this family go through this much pain again. Not at Paul's hands. Kane sighs deeply and just holds cassie.

Kane examines the dark room.

"Finally. What's taken you so long?"

'Whats the plan?'

"Listen close. I cannot risk repeating this."

"How's Shawn?" Hunter asks quietly. Taker looks up from his beer. "Hasn't left our room in a week." Taker answers. Scott looks at him. "And kane?" Scott asks. "Probably joined them." Taker mutters lowering his beer. He looks at cassie who's cuddled up to rhea. The girl has finally stopped crying. "Just me and cas now.." Taker whispers. "Nah. You still have us." Rikishi states. "Yeah. You always will." Goldust smiles. "I can't believe Kevin has caused all of this" kid whispers. "We don't know what's happened. You know Kevin wouldn't do this without reason" Scott snaps at kid. Takers eyes widen. "Scott's right." Taker gasps. Taker stands, dropping his bottle, grabbing everyone's attention. "I am?" Scott asks confused. "Drew mentioned Leon's nightmares have been getting worse-" "they weren't nightmares...they were visions!" Cassie gasps standing up. Taker smiles. "Its all going to be okay" Taker whispers. Cassie smiles and rushes, hugging Taker.

Taker does something he hasn't done in a long time. He cries. He finally breaks. "Its all going to be okay" he whimpers as he hugs cassie back tighter. The boys look confused. Rhea kisses her teeth as she pulls her phone out.

'They've worked it out. Have to move now.'

Kevin watches as Paul paces. "It was all going perfectly!" He growls. Kevin let's his gaze settle on Leon who's slouched in the corner. His eyes still all white. "It still is." Kevin states. "I've got you Leon. I've got rid of drew. I've got you finn, alexa and bray. You've got kane. Hell, you have rhea as outside eyes. No one even suspects her. You've got the heartbreak kid, a heartbroken mess! Locked away. Taker is isolated. All he has is cassie and you know how easy she will be to get" Kevin tells him. "We move tonight and that's final!" Paul yells before storming out. Kevin stares at the door as it slams. A small smile working onto his face. "Of course.. " Kevin whispers.

Taker rests his head against the bedroom door. "Shawn...you need to eat....please" Taker whispers, trying to open the door. It doesn't give. "Please baby...me and cassie..we are worried sick." Taker pleads. After 10 minutes of silence taker sighs. "Ill give you your space. But please baby boy.. come out. Eat something." Taker sighs before walking away.

Shawn lifts his gaze from the door back to his window. The house stays still before opening and shutting the windows to show he's gone. Shawn looks down at his phone. 'Tonight or not at all.' Shawn texts. 'Dont worry about a thing kid.'

"I can't find rhea.." cassie states. Taker looks at her. "Seriously? She's not answering her phone?" Taker asks. "No..im scared..." cassie whispers. Taker goes to speak when his office door swings open. The pair stand and stare at it confused. "Dad?" Cassie asks quietly. "Stay close to me.." Taker orders. Cassie gasps as the back door slides open with a bang. Taker watches as the front door opens and slams against the wall. 'The truth is, Kevin nash couldn't have done it without me.' Echos through takers head as the windows and doors go nuts.

'Managed to fool all of you.'

'But he just didn't understand, he couldn't...get with the program'

'Paul?'

Taker raises his hand and it all stops. "They are all in on it." Taker whispers. "W-What?" Cassie stutters. "Leon got Kevin the blade. Kevin give the blade to finn. They were all quick to follow our leads and confusion. Kane..kane knew Leon meant Paul the moment Leon mentioned getting with the program..They all knew before Kevin even attacked." Taker explains. "But what...what are they doing?" Cassie asks. "Something in Leon's vision..They must be trying to stop it. But what? And how? And why haven't they told us?" Taker questions. Cassie looks at her father. "So..papa..rhea and drew?" Cassie asks quietly. Taker pauses. "I don't know about papa and drew..but cassie...I'm sorry" Taker sighs. Cassie looks down and shrugs. "Guess it had to happen to me" she whispers hugging herself.

She pauses before looking at taker. "Why are you so sure this is them trying to protect us? For all we know they could actually be evil pieces of shit now! I mean brays involved! Why would he even be involved!" Cassie snaps. "To make it more believable." Taker smirks. Cassie shakes her head. "We need to get papa and leave. Your not thinking straight." Cassie snaps. Taker stops her. "Hes already left." Taker states. Cassie looks at him confused. "What?" "All the doors and windows were going nuts. And now they've suddenly stopped? Their not continuing since I let them go. And i can't sense him in the house." Taker explains. He allows the girl to run upstairs.

"Papa!" Cassie yells running down the hall. She stops outside her parents open door. "He is gone.." she whispers. "Always told Shawn he was too good an actor.." Taker mutters closing their door.

'They know' kane signs. Shawn looks at him. "Of course they do. Their smart." Shawn smiles. "I hate lying to them" Rhea whispers. "Well, it's for their own safety. The only people who are allowed to know are the ones Leon wrote on the list. And they ain't on it." Finn snaps. "How's drew?" Shawn asks. "Healing. He's a warrior..you know that's the only reason Leon allowed it." Rhea chuckles. All four, well three, fall quiet as the door opens. "Its time"

"Where are we going?" Cassie groans as they rush through the woods. "Kanes house. It the last place we'd think to look so the first place they'd be-" taker cuts himself off and stops. Cassie bumps straight into him and peaks around to see what's caught his attention. Her eyes widen and she pulls him to hide behind a fallen tree.

"Its time" Paul smiles as Kevin places a lifeless Leon across a tree stump. "And this will work, right?" Alexa asks crossing her arms. "Of course. It worked on kane and taker, did it not?" Paul asks. "Well, Leon's already a deadman. A demon. What difference will this make?" Finn asks placing a hand on his hip. "It will make him stronger than the devil himself!" Paul laughs. Bray rolls his eyes as he draws symbols in the mud.

Taker feels dread. "I think you were wrong.." cassie whispers. "So do I.. " Taker agrees. He feels angry at shawn. Why would Shawn do this? To him. To Leon?!

"Shall we begin? God knows how long we have until taker finds Shawn and gets our location from him" Paul chuckles. " was it a good idea leaving the lovers alone? I mean, we all know it won't take long for taker or cassie to break em" finn admits. "We will have time, besides kanes with them" Kevin snaps. "Now cmon" Kevin orders. Cassie frowns. This man basically raised Leon. And now he's about to sacrifice him?

Paul leans over Leon and examines the lifeless boy. "It was a lot easier to break him than I expected. Ministry will be happy with his new vessel." Paul smiles as he reaches for the skeleton blade. "Where is the blade?" Paul asks, his smile fading. "You lost the one thing we needed?!" Bray barks. "Silence! I had to have it somewhere on me" Paul snaps. "Unbelievable" alexa scoffs. "Where is it?" Paul groans. "Its not on the stump is it?" Kevin asks. "Ah! It is." Paul smiles.

Taker watches as Paul leans over Leon to grab the blade. His eyes widen and he quickly pulls cassie down as Leon grabs Paul's tie and pulls him down, shoving the blade straight into the big man's heart. "L-leon" Paul chokes. "Dont keep the devil waiting old friend" Leon growls before shoving Paul back, the blade staying with Leon. Leon sits up as blood squirts from Paul's chest. Alexa hums as the fat man fights for breathe, holding her mallet out for Leon to use as support to stand. Bray stands and watches as the life start to leave Paul's eyes. He kneels down and opens Paul's mouth. The others watch in awe and disgust as bloody fireflies swarm out of the mans mouth.

"Its done." Bray states closing Paul's eyes and mouth. Kevin moves to Leon and Leon immediately leans on him for support. "Its finally over" Leon whispers. "I did it" he adds. "Yeah..you did. Good thing Paul had no idea about the visions" Kevin chuckles. "We need to get you fed. Your body has bascially been shut down for nearly two weeks now" finn sighs as they hear running in the woods. "Worth it though, isn't it?" Leon smirks. "Didnt even know you could do that" alexa admits as rhea, kane and shawn rush over. "You did it" Shawn pants. "Wheres taker and cassie?" Finn asks. "They never showed up" Rhea admits. "Shit.." Leon groans. "And everything was going to plan.." he adds.

"The fuck is this?" Taker demands. Everyone looks at taker and cassie move from the trees to them. "What the hell is going on?" Taker asks. "I can explain...but you can only be angry at me" Leon states. "Go on. Explain." Taker snaps. "I have been having these visions...All the same about ministry and Paul. They try to sacrifice me for ministry. And well it works. They get all these guys under mind control and take my body...all because of you two" Leon explains. Taker pauses and cassie stares in horror. "You both try to save us. And well...Paul uses bray to kill cassie and alexa to knock you out before finishing the job on me" Leon continues. "Which is why you two couldn't know. We needed you too stay in the dark. We needed you too go straight to kane, looking for us where Shawn and Rhea would delay you until I got the kill." Leon adds.

"So..you moved the plan earlier then visioned. You made sure everyone thought you lot were brainwashed to prevent them from actually becoming brain washed?" Cassie asks. "Exactly. We had to convince Paul to do the sacrifice early aswell once we found out you two had bascially figured it out" Rhea adds. "Actually..I had my doubts..dad though, he truly believed you guys were still good." Cassie admits. "What about drew?" Taker asks. "You put him in hosptial to make sure this all went to plan?" Taker growls. "Im glad you care Takes" that annoying Scottish accent calls. Taker slowly looks as drew walks from where Shawn, kane and Rhea did. "Amazing what a few lights out and quick makeup can do" drew smiles. He looks fine. Healthy. "I couldn't sense you.." Taker admits. "That was all Leon. Had me hide away at kanes with a few hexes. Leon knew I needed to be out the picture to make this all more believable." Drew explains.

Taker takes everyone by surprise by pulling drew into a tight hug. "You asshole" Taker huffs. Drews eyes soften as he hugs Taker back. "Thanks for worrying" drew whispers. "So you all lied to us because we are bad at saving, dad actually cares enough about drew he has him on his sensors and Paul is dead. Oh and kevins not evil at all?" Cassie asks for clarification. "Yep. Apparently so" Leon nods as his eyes begin gaining colour again. "This was a scary few weeks. Let's never do this again" cassie shudders. Taker chuckles and nods. "Yeah, you lot ever lie to me again, and I'll kill you all. You coulda just told us" Taker tells them. "And risk Paul finding out via you two? No thanks." Finn huffs. "And yet Shawn was included" Taker states.

"Ah that's the fun part!" Leon claps as drew becomes a support on his other side. "Paul was going to use Pa to get to you. He wanted to isolate you and make you weak. We needed him anyways. And before you ask, Rhea was also included from the fact Paul believed he could unlock a true demon in her." Leon explains. Taker examines all the faces. "God let's just get home and eat...this is all too much to wrap my head around" Taker groans. "I agree" cassie pouts. Rhea chuckles and hugs her. "What do we do about the body?" Alexa asks. "The creatures of the valley will sort it." Bray answers. Taker and kane nod. "Last one back buys dinner!" Finn yells. Which starts a race. Of course Leon gets carried back. A race that Shawn wins and finn loses.

The problem is, as they all turned their back, they didn't notice the body moving away from them all. A small chuckle erupting from a sharp mouth and glowing eyes as clawed hands drag the lifeless body away to be fixed...

I had a breakdown. This is a mess. Do I like it? No. Its a breakdown, I'm not supposed to. Will it still be up tomorrow? Probably. I'll say I'll delete it and forget. Obviously I get this isnt for everyone so I'm not angry if you don't read it. It's mainly for me. Feel free to enjoy it though, I won't judge you. I just got so messed up and I don't even know why. Suddenly this came from what was supposed to be a slightly angst filled but fluff ending story about Kevin betraying Leon. Oh well.

RIP Windham Rotunda aka Bray Wyatt (Saying Goodbye)

Let me start off saying I never thought any time soon would I be posting something like this about Bray Wyatt. I'm still shocked and even speechless at times. I've cried for hours over the loss of this man. This hurt me almost as much as losing my Father.

But I want to write about all the good times i've had with Bray Wyatt and his characters over the years. For a while I wasn't a fan when "Bray Wyatt" was first brought into WWE. But he grew on me, his story telling, the way he performed in the ring, there was something about this guy that I started to love. If anyone knows me i'm huge into the Supernatural characters WWE has presented us over the years.

My favorite being The Undertaker and Kane. Absolutely loved them. I was heart broken to know Undertaker retired and Kane went on to politics which left Bray. I needed the void filled and Bray was it! He was able to tell these stories and perform incredibly well. He won over the fans many times.

I loved Cult Leader Bray and I know you won't believe me when I say this but when Randy Orton started feuding with Bray and even joined The Wyatt Family that was all my idea. I pitched it to Randy one night and he went with it and I've never had a bigger smile on my face when I seen that my idea was being used for a storyline between my favorite wrestler and my best friend! But what stood out the most and won me over as a fan even more to Bray was The Fiend! I loved everything about The Fiend I even designed my characters I use for streaming and promoting my brand as a me version of The Fiend and to this day I still do.

I've seen Bray perform as The Fiend twice and I got to see Bray as well himself before he passed away. I wish I got to meet Bray or be able to tell him how much he's changed my life and even helped me bring that spark back to watch wrestling again.

Windham again amazing story teller, amazing performer, and such a amazing person. I wish he got to tell his story and it's going to leave another hole in my shattered heart. I know Windham was hurting after losing his friend and his family, even his career. But I never gave up, The Fireflies never left his side and even though you are gone and you have reunited with Brodie... You will never be forgotten, thank you Bray for everything you've done for us over the years. I will continue to create The Fiend in your image as I continue to do my streams.

I love you brother and thank you for the memories. I hope my Dad is up there now with you meeting all of you guys. You can finally rest my brother. We will meet one day. This isn't goodbye it's see you later. And I know you'll light up the way to heaven's gate and LET ME IN.

A night in or dinner out? "A night in would be so much more intimate. I would rather have you to myself." Whip cream or chocolate syrup? "On you, both." Chocolates and roses? "Please, neither of us are so sentimental. We don't care for such simple pleasantries that are nothing more than cultural artifacts manufactured by corporate greed. No, for a gift I'd find you something far more suitable, more morbid, even." What makes you a good Valentine? "I love you more than anyone ever would or could. I understand you. I will never let you go." Would you cook for me? "Of course, how do you feel about jambalaya?" Would you let me cook for you? "I would love to have you cook for me." Where would you take me on a date? "The depths of the swamp to show you the beauty of the dark waters at night, when the moonlight shines in the refraction of the ripples."

Who’s paying? "For you, my time is always free." What did you get me for Valentine’s Day? "Eternity."

He doesn't know why he bothered leaving his room. ... Then he downs his shot. Right, right. That's why he was here.

To get absolutely fucking plastered.

To forget.

It's a dark bar, the opposite of reputable, and everything reeks of cigarettes and stale beer and something else. Probably vomit. It's acrid like vomit, at least. He pours himself another glass from the bottle and it makes his nose burn enough he doesn't smell the bar anymore. He drinks that, too. It tastes like paint thinner.

Good.

He's not sure how long he's been sitting here. A few hours, at least. Long enough that the bartender's started giving him glances, but it had taken only one snarling glare to convince the skinny punk there were better ways to spend his time.

He likes to think his bad mood is justified. He's been dealing with today alone, as he deals with most things. Alone is safe. Alone is smart. If he handles it alone, he doesn't have to worry about someone else screwing up. (Or someone else getting hurt.) The only problem is, he's not sure how to deal with Valentine's Day.

He shouldn't care. It shouldn't matter what day this is. This is not a day of sacrifice. He doesn't have a fight tonight (he wishes he did). He has to plan his order schedule for when he gets back, he'll have to check on the Yard soon - it's been a while. A week, give or take, and that's too long. He'd rather be there. Give him souls to govern, skulls to break, laws to lay down, a three-count on the mat. Anything but being alone with his thoughts.

Kane is out with Cody, and Taker is happy for his brother, he is. Cody's a good man. Kane is happy. At the end of everything, that's all Taker wants. His brother is happy. He won't get in the way of that. He'd never dream of it. But still...

"Fuck Chris Jericho." He mutters around the rim of his glass. ('And why should you matter? You're nothing special. You've never been anything - you're just a man.') He swallows back another mouthful of fiery swill. "And fuck Steve Austin." ('What, son, did it bother you when I made those calls? Did it eat you up hearing the truth, remembering what you did? Or maybe, maybe it's the way your baby brother squealed when I snapped his arm again and again and again--')

"And fuck that driver--" ('ADAM-!') He tries to pour another drink. The bottle comes up short. He pulls up from his slouch and raises the empty bottle to the barkeep. "'M gonna need another one of these." And, as the stool beside him creaks, he grimaces. "Make it a double." He keeps his eyes stubbornly forward as Bray talks. He's waxing poetic, spouting off about this bullshit and that bullshit. He's really laying it on thick. If it were any other day, he'd tell Bray he was barking up the wrong tree. In a different situation, he'd take the bottle the barkeep had handed him (accepted with a grunt of gratitude) and smash it on Bray's head. As warped as Taker's perception is, he knows this is weird. There's an ominous river weaving its way through Bray's words that should send up every warning flag in the book.

But you know what?

He's drunk.

He's immortal.

He's miserable.

He's alone.

So he downs one more mouthful from the bottle, swallows, and takes the entire thing with him as he pushes away.

"Fine, fuck it." He mumbles, rising to his feet and glancing at Bray.

"What'd you say 'bout jambalaya?"

15 Questions Tag Game

I was tagged by @maskedemerald and finally got around to filling it out. The rules are to answer these 15 questions as either your OC or yourself and tag up to 15 people.

Since I'm planning to write book 3 for NaNoWriMo, I'll be answering these for Chelsea and Shay from Project Paladin.

Are you named after anyone? Chelsea: Sort of? My mom knew someone named Chelsea and just really liked the name. Shay: Nope.

When was the last time you cried? Chelsea: Uh...probably a few nights ago. I just had a bad day trying to practice magic with this stupid cast on and then Ferric texted me to say the lead he was following regarding my parents was a dead end. Sometimes I feel like I'm doing all of this for nothing and I'll never find them and I just...I really miss them. I'm gonna stop talking so I don't cry again. Shay: I don't...I don't know. I don't remember. Maybe a month ago? It's personal.

Do you have kids? Chelsea: No! I'm only sixteen! Shay: Nah. Never really had the opportunity. Being a Paladin keeps me busy so it just never really crossed my mind. Do you use sarcasm? Chelsea: Sometimes with friends. We goof around a lot and tease each other and that's when the sarcasm comes out. Shay: I'm never sarcastic. Chelsea: He actually is but his sarcastic voice is the same as his non-sarcastic voice so it's hard to tell if you don't know him. What's the first thing you notice about others? Chelsea: Ummm, probably what they're wearing. If they have a cool outfit or a backpack or, oh, if they have really cool hair. Shay: I focus on faces. I talk to a lot of people in this line of work. I help them out and they give me information in return. I study their expressions, try to tell if they're lying to me. I see a lot of grief too and it's better to look them in the eye so they know you care. I see a lot of gratitude too and it's...nice. Seeing that I made a difference. What's your eye color? Chelsea: Blue Shay: Brown Scary stories or happy endings? Chelsea: I'm a sap for happy endings. Like, give me all the drama and angst for sure, but in the end, I just want my faves to be happy. Shay: I used to think scary stories for sure. Anything that could actually creep me out, that was good stuff. But now...now I wouldn't mind a happy ending. Any special talents? Chelsea: I can play the trumpet but not, like, super good or anything. Um, I learned magic recently if that counts? Shay: Why the hell would that not count? Chelsea: I don't know! I'm not very good at that either! Shay: It counts. I also know magic and can play the guitar. Where were you born? Chelsea: Sable, Utah. I've lived there my whole life and hopefully I'll get to go back when all this Paladin stuff is over. Shay: Bray, Ireland. Haven't been back in a long time and I don't know if that's going to change. What are your hobbies? Chelsea: I love camping and hiking. Riding my bike. Roller skating. Hanging out with friends. Spending too much time on the internet. Shay: Being a Paladin doesn't give me much free time, but like I said earlier, I play the guitar. That's how I unwind whenever I can find the time. Do you have any pets? Chelsea: No, which is tragic. I got to babysit some baby dragons recently but sadly, we had to give them back :( Shay: No. I wouldn't have the time or energy to take care of one if I did. What sports do you play/have played? Chelsea: I play softball sometimes. We don't have an official team or anything, but a bunch of kids from my school like to play against kids from Kane Heritage. It's fun and we don't take it too seriously. Shay: I was more into video games than sports before I became a Paladin, so I haven't really gotten into any. Although my sister kept suggesting I join a track team since I'm a fast runner. Didn't help to tell her I was mostly running away from things. How tall are you? Chelsea: 5'3" Shay: 180 cm Chelsea: ...I don't know what that means Shay: *does not translate*

Favorite subject in school? Chelsea: Band class. Our teacher's pretty chill and we get to play fun music. Need I say more? Shay: History. Dream job? Chelsea: Oooooh, I don't know! Being a park ranger could be cool. Or maybe I could be a Foley artist; that's what my Aunt Linda does. Or I could set up a really niche little hobby shop and sell weird knickknacks to tourists. Or since I have magic now, I can be a magician! Or... Shay: The only thing I ever wanted to be growing up was a rockstar. Corny, I know, but I loved the idea of that life. Getting to go on tour and do concerts. I do a lot of traveling now, but it'd be nice if it was for something simple like concerts and not to solve some horribly convoluted mystery that would most likely end in disaster.
