Confirmation
She nervously released him, not wanting to push her luck. Just in case.
However, he spun quickly to face her. A nervousness flooded her. 'Well, that was real fun world. Sayonara.
His grand height bent, strands of silver starlight cascading. "Woman," his voice seemed to be regaining confidence. Seeing the blood rise in her cheeks, he needed to ask. He needed confirmation, "Are you trying to seduce me?"
Kagome felt her embarrassment fill every ounce of her body. Her tongue felt thick, and she found it difficult to form a coherent sentence in her brain.
The hamster had completely fallen out the wheel.
If he had not held gently to the hem of her robe, she would have bolted. What threw her further from sanity, the beauty before her, smiled ever so softly. That's it. She truly must have died.
Am I eventually gonna ink and color, yes! Is it gonna be right now- NO! 😅

Kagome hummed a melody, enjoying the warmth from the evening summer sun as she sorted through the remainder of her herbs. I wonder where Inuyasha has been all day? He's been acting so weird lately. As if her thoughts summoned him, she stared as he stomped his way towards her, his left hand clutching a bouquet of wildflowers. She patiently waited until he stopped in front of her, knowing she wouldn't have to wait long with her hanyou.
"Kagome." He gruffed, his tone held no heat.
"Yes, Inuyasha?" She blinked up at him, surprised to find his cheeks flushed and had to hold back her amusing smile.
"You've been back for two seasons now and we're practically together."
"Yes, I would assume so since we share a hut together."
"Will you, I mean, could we.... never mind, this is stupid." Oh my, is he embarrassed?
"Inuyasha," She giggled, "Take a breath, then tell me whatever it is you wanted to tell me." She watched as he did just that, his clench on the flowers growing tighter. Taking one final breath, she saw her hanyou square his shoulders, look her straight in the eyes and say two words she did not expect to hear.
"Marry me."
Gaping, Kagome knew her cheeks rivaled his own now. Seconds ticked by and she realized he was waiting for her answer, one she knew in heart from the day she returned to the feudal era. I would marry this man in a million lifetimes.
"Okay."
"Really?" He questioned, almost as if his hanyou hearing didn't catch her words.
"Yes, I'll marry you." She laughed, holding her hands up and he immediately swept her in his arms. He twirled around, both of their laughter filling the field where the Goshinboku sat.
"So," she spoke after a breathless moment, "Are those flowers for me?"
"Like I would give anybody else flowers, cheeky wench." He chuckled, bringing her close and capturing her lips with his own as the sun disappeared from the sky.
A huge shout out to @heavenin--hell with this amazing art work of my fav OTP. I about squealed when I saw the finished piece. Ain't they so freaking talented?💕

I like fanfics where Inuyasha and Kagome are caught in inclement weather, seeing them all cozy together. I was wondering if you had a list of fanfics where our favorite couple is caught in bad weather?

Snow Route by @superpixie42 (M)
Inuyasha thought he had the best idea for a surprise for Kagome. They would spend the longest New Moon night of the year (aka the worst night of the year) together in the market village inn, therefore turning a terrible night into a wonderful night. Except nothing ever goes to plan does it?
--
The Breath of Death by @roseheartwhitefox (E)
He should have seen the warning signs. The sudden chill in the air. The slow but steady increase of the wind as it shook the trees and blew the snow, completely obscuring his vision, burning even his tough hanyou skin with cold. The rapid pacing of the clouds through the sky. The fact that there were no animals out in the forest, despite it being the middle of the day. He had lived through it once before, and should have seen it coming.
A blanket scenario story featuring Inuyasha/Kagome. Takes place during the final act. Rated for explicit content.

The Bus Stops Here by @neutronstarchild, @fawn-eyed-girl (T)
At 6:04pm, while he was waiting to take the bus home, she would appear. He lived for those moments, waiting at the bus stop together, trying to build up the courage to talk to her. Chasing The Vortex by @neutronstarship @ruddcatha @mickisketch @fawn-eyed-girl (E)
Inuyasha knew what happiness was. It was him alone with a tornado, because tornadoes were predictable, and simple. And being alone meant no more getting hurt. Then Inuyasha’s Ph.D. advisor dropped the ultimatum on him: to host a plucky photographer from Chicago to help get their weather institute funded, or else.
Kagome Higurashi, for her part, couldn't wait. She’d always wanted to chase tornadoes, and wanted to see how close she could get to one, to get that perfect shot. And lord knew the chaser needed the help! And for that week stuck together in tornado alley, it’s not just the debris that’s flying.

Fortune Favors The Bold by @mamabearcatfanfics (M)
"Dai-kichi! The person you await comes from a distant place. Be bold! It would be good for you to send them a message." Kagome smiled as she traced her fingers over the printed fortune, picturing a dog eared boy with white flowing hair and amber eyes. Inuyasha definitely fit the description of ‘comes from a distant place’ – you couldn’t get more distant than five hundred years into the past. But what sort of message would she want to send him?

“Dr. Ratio…” Kagome mutters, gloved hands on his thighs – he can feel the nervous tremble in her palms, extending to her whole body. “Please…be gentle with me—” She clears her throat as she sits on her knees in front of him, “Th-this is a mere favor, s-so don’t test my patience—”
“You can call me Veritas now.” He sighs, one of his fully unclothed hands snaking its way to cover her own – but it only makes her tremble and grimace further. “This is no demand from me, I am certain you know this… Correct?”
“Y-Yes, sir…” She nods and stares up at him, her pupils constricted with what he assumes is fear.
He sighs again, eyes now laden with mild frustration and mostly confusion, “Kagome.” He grabs both of her hands, causing her heart to jump into her throat as he pulls her to her feet, “I will not allow you to do this if you are frightened. I do not know exactly what is causing your fright, but I will not be taking advantage of it.” He informs, voice heavy with severity.
“My apologies…” She turns her head away – eyes screwed shut – but he’s quick to angle her face back toward him, “Huh?” Her eyes blow wide open again while a nervous sweat breaks out on her forehead and neck.
“Do not apologize for whatever you believe you did wrong. You have neither offended or upset me thus far. So, quit apologizing over nothing.” He commands with an abnormal amount of fragility in his tone.
“I-I– But, I–”
He presses his lips against her own – deep and fierce, but not with an ounce of roughness. One of his hands slips over the back of her head while the spare one cradles her lower back. She gasps from the shift of words to action, a moan soon following after – leaving wonderful tingles along his lips.
“If you cannot stop apologizing, then I will simply have to silence you.” He smirks, soft and hot breaths brushing against her velvety smooth lips.
She blinks repeatedly – for once taking a long moment to register what’s happening. He lets her take an adequate amount of time, his gilded stare watching her diligently – taking in every subtle reaction she has. Despite their many years of knowing each other, he’s never seen her so emotional – let alone distraught – before now. It makes the hardy plaster around his heart crack a little – it’s not everyday you get to see a member of the Genius Society fall apart before you.
He takes no pleasure from this experience of witnessing her be so scared of him, yet he finds so much intimacy in being what feels like the first person to see her like this – fragile. While he may be as sturdy as stone, he keeps a silent promise to treat her like porcelain.
The fit of giggles that break out from her tears him away from his thoughts, eliciting him to raise a thin dark purple brow.
“What is so funny?” He inquires, leaning dangerously close to her face again.
“Aha– I’m so sorry. I just– You…you’re really, truly, utterly horrific at kissing.” She continues to giggle, “A-And you’re so dorky… So confident about everything you do and are, even smirking when you get a reaction from me… It’s…rather cute.” She flusters, her laughing dying down as she glances anywhere else that isn’t him.
“…I am truly flattered, Kagome.” He deadpans, his voice flooded with sarcasm. “Then, if you are so skilled at kissing… Teach me.” He smirks once more, slowly backing her up into the nearby wall of his office – all with his hands firm on her curvy hips.
“…Proposal accepted. However…” She breathes – the sweet scent of the sakura mochi she had earlier hits his senses, “Do know it’s merely a matter of…experience.”
“I am happy to inform you that I am more than willing to learn.” His lopsided smirk evens out into a thin smile.
Her eyes latch on to his thin lips, all while her hand brushes some of his dark locks away from his eyes. “And…take your time, there’s no rush… I plan to give you ample time.” She snickers, planting a hesitant yet soft kiss on the corner of his mouth.
The praise brings an odd sense of warmth and shyness to all of him, a blush rising to his cheeks despite his slight grimace.
“Hush,” He commands, “Let me conduct my experiment now.” He pivots his head to fully meet her lips again, pressing his mouth deep against her own with his body flush against hers. This time he holds back on his passion, easing his way into her heart – all with her soft, delicate lips in mind.
Tumblr media
“V-Veritas!” Kagome heaves, soft moans rolling off her tongue, “Y-You’re improving so quickly – ngh!” Her toned leg quakes as it rests over his broad shoulder, her other leg is the only thing barely holding her up all while he noses her clit and devours her core with heated, fervent licks and sucks.
When he removes his head from her heat – lower face covered in her wet lust – he grins up at her while licking his lips.
“A higher rating… Now I am more than confident I will get you to cum with no more wasted time.” He immediately dives back in, his licking and sucking even more passionate than before.
His suspicions are correct, too – so he swiftly takes her other leg and rests it over his free shoulder as well. She gasps – with her tearful eyes and broken smile – she finds his ability to hold nearly all of her weight up sexy and endearing. She braces one hand against the wall she’s pinned against, her free hand grabbing a fistful of his thick locks and pulling him further into her.
One of his hands leaves her thick thigh, moving to slip two fingers into her heated, dripping wet hole. A sharp gasp and heavy moan leaves her as she shakes and screws her eyes shut. She moans loud and clear when his fingers curl against her walls, pressing onto a sweet spot.
“Yes, that’s a good girl.” He detaches his mouth from her overstimulated clit, “Now, cum for me.” He commands before giving her clit a hard suckle.
“MMH – NGH–!” She bites down on her bottom lip, nearly breaking skin. Her eyes roll to the back of her head as she throws it back against the now warm wall.
She does cum – all over his chin and mouth, leaving streaks of white fluid along his lips which he promptly licks off. He even sucks his fingers clean, groaning softly at the taste of her.
“Delectable.” He remarks, leaving kisses on her folds a few times before he rises to his feet, moving her legs to wrap around his still-clothed hips while he shifts his position.
“Wh-what a good boy you are, Veri…” She whispers lustfully, grabbing his chin between her thumb and two other fingers. “Now… About that…favor.”
“Do not worry yourself to death about that damned favor. All I need you to do is sit back and relax… I will take the utmost care of you.” He presses several gentle kisses up her neck, moving his way to her jawline one kiss at a time. “…Are you ready now or shall we wait until a proper time and place? My office is hardly the ideal location for me to take you.”
“Let’s have a nice little date first… No formalities or facades – only ourselves in all earnesty. You can pick the time and place… I don’t mind.” She pulls his face to her own, planting a feather-light kiss on his lips,
“Impress me, Veri.”

@rikareena Happy Holidays! I was your secret Santa :) Hope you enjoy. @iyfss
“Eh?” Kagome’s head snaps up in confusion looking from the invitation she held to the cousin that handed it to her. “But I’m not of noble class, Kikkyo, I can’t attend a ball at the palace!”
“It’s a masquerade ball,” Kikkyo retorts, “and you look enough like me to hide amongst the guests.”
“But why?”
Kikkyo waves her hand nonchalantly in annoyance. “All you do is work and go home and never have fun. So, go! Drink! Eat! Dance! If you really hate it, stay a couple hours, and leave by midnight, I don’t care. I’m just tired of seeing you look so… so plain.”
“Eh?! But I—”
“Just show up at the courtiers, I’ve already ordered your garments.” Kikkyo starts to walk away, then stops a moment and looks back over her shoulder with a smile, “don’t worry cousin, you’ll thank me one day, I’m sure...”
A month later, finds the twelfth and final new moon of the year blanketing the evening in darkness. The night of the winter ball has arrived and as Kagome steps out from the carriage, she pulls the fur wrap tight around her shoulders. She closes her eyes to the crisp clean air of the snowy night and takes a breath, opening them to see the white mist of warm wispy air. Only a light flurry of powdery snow falls over the arriving guests, with twinkling through the air from the torch lights bouncing off snowflakes. In front, rising tall is the gleaming palace lit up with lanterns to guide them along the stone walkway. She sighs, and steels herself for the night ahead. Oh, why did she succumb to her cousins’ whims?
Every fiber of her being stands on edge, feeling the stares from all around as she slowly makes her way through the large ballroom. Whether it’s all in her mind or not, feeling like a fish out of water is an understatement, for Kagome is unused to the world of aristocracy. Her parents are well-to-do merchants but hold no title, whereas Kikkyo’s branch of the family had married into the noble class. Just because Kagome’s mother had schooled her in education and manners, it didn’t help her to feel any easier in such a high-class environment.
She takes a deep breath. ‘Breathe, just breathe Kagome and mingle for a couple hours.’ That should be enough to make Kikkyo happy. Then, her mission complete, slip away back into the snowy night. She picks up a glass of wine with a courteous smile to the wait staff, then makes her way towards the balcony.
The ballroom is brightly lit and decorated in festive winter flora. Each column wrapped with green woven fabric, interlaced with red winter berry branches and white Pieris bell blooms. In the arched entry ways leading to the balcony, white sashes are draped in two, half-moons with a large bough of pine and holly juxtaposed by tiny white or red berries hanging between them. In one corner, a band plays lively instrumentals to regale the dance floor, while along a wall are tables covered in sweet and savory delicacies. Spirits fuel the boisterous crowd, beautifully dressed, they laugh with merriment, hidden behind gilded masks.
The dress Kikkyo commissioned for her is a gorgeous full length ball gown of soft white satin, with a sweetheart corset bust, and hourglass waistline before flowing freely to the floor. It is trimmed in silver patterns that resemble snowflakes along with inlaid blue gems all to attract the gaze of a suitor and lead their eyes to the prize. The accoutrements compliment the dress perfectly. A masquerade mask of azure blue with silver filigree, elbow length gloves, white satin heels, and a white fur shoulder wrap for warmth. To finish the look, Kagome’s raven hair is done half pinned up in curled tendrils and half cascading waves down her back. The hairpins have the same blue gems of her dress which sparkle when the light hits it just right. Kagome certainly looks the part of a courtier.
As she sips her wine quietly, Kagome can’t help but feel a sense of sadness while watching the partygoers enjoying themselves. All these beautiful clothes and accoutrements, the refined and polished world of the nobility. Who wouldn’t wish to just once be treated like a princess? It looks like a lot of fun… but there is the worry that someone will realize she doesn’t belong. What is Kikkyo thinking making her come here? Kagome sighs aloud, maybe one dance wouldn’t hurt…
“It hurts to see a beauty so melancholy. Perhaps I may lighten your mood?” The deep voice whispers behind Kagome’s ear sending a shiver down her spine.
Kagome turns to the voice to find a handsome male with long flowing black hair and dark eyes piercing through a golden mask. She quickly looks away to hide the instant warmth on her cheeks. “Please do not worry about me kind sir, I will be okay.”
The man gently turns her chin, forcing her to look up at him. His eyes lower in a heated gaze with a grin that makes her heart flutter. “Nonsense, my lady, as prince my pride would never allow me to ignore someone in distress.”
Her eyes flash wide in the revelation. She never saw his human side before! “Prince Inuyasha?!” Kagome immediately bows her head and averts her eyes. “Y-Your highness, I am just a lowly courtier. I do not deserve such attention.”
“A beauty such as you are always worthy of my attention.” He forces her to look at him again. “And besides, it is only fitting we follow tradition.”
“Tradition?” her head tilting slightly in confusion.
With grin widening, Inuyasha points above their heads to the decorations. “Mistletoe.” He has been watching her from across the room since she arrived, curious of the raven-haired beauty he’s never seen before. So, when he saw where she stopped to watch the festivities, it was the perfect opportunity… to pounce.
Kagome’s eyes flash wide. Mistletoe! Why hadn’t she noticed earlier?! Is he serious?! The prince… kissing… She swore she could feel even more eyes boring into her from around them. “Y-Your highness, truly I am not worthy—”
“I beg to differ.” Inuyasha swiftly covets Kagome’s lips before she can retort, with one hand cradling her head and the other gently holding her waist. Such soft lips… He lingers the kiss as he takes in the light floral fragrance of her hair and natural scent of her body… even without his preternatural abilities it’s an arousing scent that quickly take him by surprise. Who is this woman?! And why hasn’t he met her before?
She squeaks from the sudden action, but whatever concern Kagome held, melted the instant Inuyasha’s lips stole hers. This is her first kiss! So, gentle… and the warmth of his body so close... ‘I can feel his heartbeat…’ His strong hands holding her steady… Her heart flutters wildly as a wave of heat flushes over body, building the longer the kiss lingers. It feels like being hit with a magical spell! Wait! No, no! She must not fall under his spell!
Kagome quickly breaks the kiss and pulls away. “Your highness, I-I need to go. I’m sorry!” She steps back to rush for the exit, but he grabs her arm.
A shocked and panicked look flashes onto Inuyasha’s face. “Wait! What do you mean leave?!” He grips her wrist. “You can’t—”
But Kagome manages to wriggle free from his grasp when her glove slips off. She runs for the exit, leaving the stunned prince behind to the fading clicking sounds of heels and tears building and blurring her vision. As she runs from the palace, all the sounds…The light of the party fading away into darkness the farther she goes. Why does her heart hurt so much! They’d never even met before, and yet Inuyasha’s mere presence mesmerized her. A hanyo’s energy is so much stronger than she’s known. But yes, this is for the best. Kagome steels herself further into the darkness of the night. She can’t risk her identity being found out!
By this point, the ballroom has fallen silent except for the murmuring of the guests filling the air. It must have been a shock to all in attendance to see anyone dare to shun the prince, for any woman would kill to be in Kagome’s position.
“What the fuck are ya’ll staring at!” Inuyasha growls at the crowd who quickly evade his glare. “Anyone know who that woman is?!” But all he receives are shaking heads, no. “Fuck!” He stomps out of the room, heading in the direction she has gone.
When he gets outside, Inuyasha realizes she’s nowhere to be found. Damn his human night! He can’t track her scent! He looks down at the blue glove clutched tightly in his hand. It is all he has of the mystery woman, but hopefully it will be enough to track her down. “Fuck!” He grits his teeth and stomps back to his bedroom. The faster this night ends, the quicker the chase begins!
Fearing the prince or soldiers have given chase, Kagome reluctantly cuts through a forested area that lay between the palace and her home on the other side of the city. With no moon to provide any light, it’s like walking through a treacherous gauntlet. Bushes and branches tear at her gown while dirt stains it’s hem. The heels on her feet are useless against a forest floor of rocks and leaf litter hiding its pitfalls. But all she can do is trudge forward clutching the fur wrap tightly against the cold winter air.
‘Stupid mistletoe! Stupid prince! Damn you Kikkyo for making me do this! Thank you, yeah, bullshit!’ The blinding tears trickle down Kagome’s cheeks, mixing with the freezing wind to burn icy hot against her skin. Too many emotions stir within her. Anger at her cousin for putting her in this predicament, and fear of getting into trouble by the court. What punishment will she receive for talking back to the prince? But also… sadness. This is the first time she’s ever felt such a twinge in her heart. Is this what love at first sight feels like? A moment, even just a second where time stopped and all she could feel was the burn of his lips against her own… Now it’s all over.
It takes Kagome three hours to reach her home and thankfully her parents are already asleep. She sneaks in, quickly shedding the formal wear and bundling it into a sack. Such a sad ending for a beautiful gown, but she can’t let anyone see it and be recognized. ‘Hopefully Kikkyo doesn’t ask me about it…’
News travels quickly, and by the next morning the gossip around town is already in full swing. As Kagome leaves for her work at the local school, she overhears some customers in their store talking about the runaway guest at the winter ball and how the prince didn’t return from chasing after the woman. They also mention that no one seems to know who the mystery woman could be. Does that mean she’s in the clear? Kagome lets out a sigh as she reaches the school and puts on a brave face. The children are sure to make her smile and send away her troubled heart.
But while Kagome may think she’s eluded trouble, at the palace, the prince is nowhere near giving up. At the crack of dawn, he orders his advisor Miroku along with a servant named Shippo to visit every courtier in the area. But by midday, half of the courtiers have been checked with no luck. In frustration, Inuyasha meets them at the city’s main square to regroup.
“Do we really need to check the rest?” Miroku whines, “because I don’t remember any of those houses having a dark-haired female in the family.”
“Maybe it’s a visiting cousin,” Inuyasha interjects. “That is common when we hold such gatherings, ‘cause I’m not giving up.”
“Perhaps we could show the glove to couturiers in the area,” Shippo suggests. “Someone may remember it.”
“That’s actually a good idea—” Inuyasha’s voice cuts off as something catches the princes attention. “There!” He points, shouts, and takes off in a sprint, quickly followed by a surprised Miroku and Shippo. It’s a dark-haired woman with similar hair!
When Inuyasha reaches the woman, he grabs her shoulder to stop her from walking, then spins her around. “It’s— not…”
“What the— wait, prince Inuyasha?” Kikkyo’s eyes flash wide in shock.
Inuyasha quickly lets the woman go, his eyes going from bright to lifeless in an instant. “S-Sorry, forgive me I thought you resemble someone.”
“It’s okay, but is something wrong your highness,” Kikkyo questions.
“You look like the woman who ran away last night from the winter ball…” Inuyasha’s nose picks up on something. “You even smell a bit like her.”
“Oh! I heard about that— wait, she looks like me…” Kikkyo’s voice petters out when the realization hits.
At that point, Miroku holds out the glove. “Do you recognize this?”
“Yes... I believe I know who you are looking for. Is she in trouble?” Kikkyo questions hesitantly, praying that her cousin won’t be in trouble.
“You do?!” Inuyasha blurts out. “But no, no, I just want to find her!” He clasps her hands excitedly, golden eyes shining, begging. “Please I lik— S-She’s not in trouble, so please tell me where I can find her!”
The Higurashi’s store is on the opposite side of the city area from where they’re standing. So, Inuyasha dismisses Shippo and Miroku to return to palace while he follows Kikkyo. As they walk, Kikkyo explains why her cousin was at the party and apologizes profusely for the misunderstanding and trouble caused.
When they walk into the store, Inuyasha’s ears perk up as the gloves familiar scent fills his olfactory senses. “I can smell her…”
“Huh?” Kikkyo is about to question him when her aunt comes to the front after hearing them come in.
“Oh, Kikkyo, what brings you here— and your highness!” Mrs. Higurashi bows. “What brings you to our little store?”
“Aunty, is Kagome here? We’re looking for her.”
“Eh? Well,” Mrs. Higurashi gestures towards the east, “she’s working at the school over on sakura lane. Is something wrong?”
“No, no,” Kikkyo waves her hands to allay her aunt’s concerns. “We just need to talk to her.” She starts ushering Inuyasha away. “Thank you, aunty, we’ll find her there.”
It doesn’t take long for the prince and Kikkyo to make their way to the school. When they arrive, Kagome is outside in a small courtyard playing with the children, so they move to a spot where she cannot see them. Inuyasha could feel his chest tighten and heart flutter at the scene before him. The sun’s rays reflecting off Kagomes raven-hair… her beautiful smile as she laughs along to the children’s antics… Not only is this woman gorgeous, but the warmth radiating from her stirs a feeling in Inuyasha he’s never felt— Kagome’s motherly instincts are on full display and certainly not lost on the prince.
Inuyasha’s head lowers, his eyes glazing over in thought with a small smile creeping over his face. “I no longer require your assistance, Ms. Kikkyo. You may leave.” He directs in a soft but firm tone.
“As you wish, your highness.” But before Kikkyo leaves, she advises the prince. “Please wait until school is over so the children are not affected. Their classes end in a couple hours.”
“I understand and thank you.”
Why does time seem to slow down when you are waiting for something? After watching Kagome for a little longer, Inuyasha returned to the palace to make a few arrangements. There is no way he’s letting her get away again!
“I’ll see you tomorrow!” Kagome waves to the parent and child as they walk away. She wipes at her brow. “That’s the last one,” time to go home for the day.
After locking up the building, Kagome goes out through the gate, pausing to secure the hasp. But she’s so focused on her task, she fails to realize she’s no longer alone. When she turns around, she immediately flinches when her eyes land on a chest?… wait it can’t—
Eyes widening in shock, Kagome quickly bows, “Your highness! I’m sorry I did not see you there. I-Is there something I can assist you with?”
Inuyasha lifts her chin as a grin takes over his face. “Why yes there is!” He pulls out the glove from his pocket as he speaks. “Excuse me, but I’m looking for the owner of this glove.” Taking an obvious whiff of the glove, “and your scent seems to match it perfectly.”
If only she were still wearing the mask because Kagome’s face flushes brightly, giving her answer away so she covers her face with her hands. “I-I— please! I know I shouldn’t have been there, and I’m sorry for running away!”
Inuyasha gently peels away Kagome’s hands, forcing her to look at him. “You’ve got a lot of guts to have disobeyed me Ms. Higurashi, and that demands punishment.”
Her shoulders drop lower as her vision clouds over with tears. Kagome’s voice cracks. “Please have mercy.”
“Your punishment is…”
At that moment, a royal carriage pulls up beside the pair. Kagome closes her eyes, she knew it, it’s off to the dungeon…
“… to become my bride.”
“Eh?” Kagome’s eyes pop open. Did she hear that correctly? “Bride?” She blinks in wide-eyed confusion. “Did you say bride?!”
Inuyasha smiles, caressing Kagome’s cheek as he speaks. “I said bride. You caught my interest that night and today you captured my heart as I watched you with the children in your care.”
“I-I don’t understand, your highness, I am not from nobility. Don’t you have to marry from a higher class? I’m not suitable…”
“The choice is mine, and I choose you.” Inuyasha steps back, taking Kagome’s hand, and bringing it to his lips for a kiss. “Do you accept?”
A stray tear trickles down Kagome’s cheek as she stares at Inuyasha’s face. Time slows around her, and she feels like she’s under a spell again. ‘Is this really happening?’ Her heart flutters wildly, body heating up under the prince’s golden gaze. ‘Should I accept? He seems earnest, but it’s hard to believe… don’t these things only happen in fairytales?’ Kagome sucks in a breath. “Why… your highness, tell me why me?”
“Why not you?” He teases back lightly while thumbing away the drying tear trail. “You’re a beautiful woman Ms. Higurashi, breath taking to look at so of course I would take interest. And I must admit you’re running away only spurred my instincts to chase you. But when I watched you today playing with the children, your affection for them, and their affection for you—. His eyes glaze over as if seeing a vision in his mind. “It was like seeing the future… our future.” Inuyasha kneels still clasping her hands causing Kagome’s breathing to hitch. As she gazes down at him, he smiles softly. “I knew then and there you’re the only one I want to spend my life with.”
“Prince…” tears well up in Kagome’s eyes from the happiness blooming within her soul. How could she refuse such sweet sentiment? Maybe fairytales exist after all. She squeezes his hand with a smile. “I accept.”
Inuyasha stands and wipes away the few happy tears from her cheek. He then takes something out of his pocket and holds it above their heads with a grin smoothly morphing onto his lips. “Shall we continue where we left off?”
As Kagome looks at the mistletoe hanging over her head, to the man holding it, she can’t help but laugh. Oh, this man! “Well,” she pulls him down by his collar, “it is tradition…”

some more early inukag
because i am once again a fool for their love.
(lol once again, as if i ever stopped loving them)
“I don’t see why you have to go back!”
The angry scowl does little to change her mind. “Because I have an exam,” she snaps back, hands on hips, blue eyes narrowing. “And I’d like to graduate with the rest of my class,” she goes on, shouldering her backpack as she puts one foot onto the edge of the well. “I’ll be back Tuesday.”
He doesn’t know what Tuesday means but there’s no time to ask because she’s gone, fading from his time into the future. Just like that, she was gone. “Kagome will be back,” Miroku chimes in, unflinching when the hanyou’s gaze is daggers in his direction instead of the well. “Tuesday is three days from now.” The monk continues, thinking of what the young woman has taught him during their time together. “And it will do us well to rest.” InuYasha curses beneath his breath but does not reply, rather he storms off back towards the village, leaving Miroku there to heave a sigh. He supposes it’s best not to argue with the hanyou- even he’s not brave enough for that, yet. And so, with one last glance towards the well, he follows after InuYasha, hoping they might actually get the rest they deserve.
She can’t understand any of this.
Despite the hours she’s crammed into this textbook, she doesn’t understand a damn thing. Heaving a sigh, she pushes back from the desk she’s sat at for the last several hours, thinking perhaps InuYasha was right, and she should have just remained in the feudal era. There’s a part of her that knows she belongs there- that she needs to be there. But... There’s still a sliver of her that wants to be like any normal girl might be.
But she wonders if life could ever be normal again.
Yawning, she glances at the clock which reads well past midnight and decides she might sleep a while. Perhaps in the morning she might wake with a fresh start, a fresh mind. And so, she rises up from the chair and instead climbs into her bed, fully clothed and not bothering to draw a single blanket over her head. Truth was, the moment her head hit the pillow, she was asleep; it wasn’t just the hours of studying that left her so sleepy, but the days, if not weeks, of nonstop traveling. They had spent the better half of the last month simply on the go- chasing demons and Naraku, too. It was exhausting.
And so, she sleeps, quite peacefully.
When he slips in through her window, he’s quite intent on bringing her back.
But she’s asleep in her bed, one hand tucked beneath her ivory cheek, stalling him in his steps. He’s seen her asleep, of course, but there was something different about this time. Something that steers him in a way he’d not thought possible. A sigh escapes him as he sinks down onto the floor beside her bed, torn between frustration and something that felt soft and warm. Whatever his plans were before, they were gone now, and all that was left behind was his instinct to protect her, to keep her safe from whatever might be out there- in this world, and his.
And so, he closes his eyes, waiting until she opened hers.
She wakes as the first rays of dawn peek through her curtains.
Yawning, she rolls onto her other side, definitely thinking she’d return to sleep for a few more hours. But she’s compelled to open her eyes, and she’s surprised to see the snoozing hanyou at the side of her bed. Sitting up, she blinks, thinking for a single moment that she’s just imagined this, that he’s not there, for why would he be? And yet... There he was, snoring softly.
Something warm seeps into her blood, into her veins, and she can’t help but to smile as she leans forward, all so she might drape her sheet over his shoulders. He stirs, but does not wake, and so she returns her head to her pillow. It gave her butterflies to think he’d come all this way for her, only to have found her asleep and left her as he’d found her.
Something tells her that this was where she was meant to be.
She fails her exam, but she supposes she shouldn’t be surprised.
“Are you ready?” InuYasha asks, though her bag is already on his shoulder, those golden eyes unwavering in their gaze. “It is Tuesday,” he reminds her, though he only knows because he’s asked her mother that very morning when Kagome had left for school.
Kagome stares back at him for what might have been an eternity, before she laughs, a sound he realizes right then that he adores. When had that happened? “Ready,” she says, knowing that deep down, there was no where she wanted to be than by his side. In truth, she was eager to return to the feudal era, to the life she’s begun to grow accustomed to.
“Did you pass?” He asks and she shakes her head, dejected, defeated, quite unlike the Kagome he knows. It surprises him and he reminds himself that this was her usual life, of course it was disappointing that she was not able to live it fully. “Next time then,” he says as they head out the door of her room and into the hallway, thinking back to what her mother had told him to say that morning when he’d asked- right after he’d asked the day of the week, that was. “You’ll do it next time.” Her mother had said to be encouraging! And while he knows it’s not his greatest of strengths, there’s something inside of him that wants to make her feel better.
Was he... Consoling her? Kagome shoots him a surprised glance, eyes widening ever so slightly as his eyes turn back to her. “I hope so,” she replies, a smile spreading across her face as they descend the stairs to the lower level of the house. After a round of goodbyes, they’ve made their way back to the wellhouse, about to jump through back to his time. “Hey InuYasha...” She says, stopping him as one foot is halfway up, ready to jump through. “Thanks for coming to get me,” she grins, perhaps not quite what she’d thought she might say, but the next best thing. He scowls, but his eyes are shining as he offers her his hand, and together, they leap into the well.
Back to the other side, the other life of theirs.

How To Tame A Sorcerer (44)
Series Master list
Tumblr media
Kagome nurses a cup of green tea at the kitchen island. The steam rises from the cup and helps to clear her sinuses. The heat emitting from the mug that reads: Strongest Wifey, is heavenly against the crisp morning air. The coffee maker brews in the background. Her stomach recoils at the smell.
"M'ornin," Satoru greets, his hair disheveled. He wraps his arms around her, nuzzling into the crook of her neck. His warm breath sends the hairs on her arms racing upwards, brushing against the silk material of her robe. She sets the cup down and runs her hands along his forearms, down to his hands, tracing the veins. He gives her one more squeeze before pulling away to pour himself a cup of coffee.
Kagome watches him over the brim of her mug, inhaling the scent of green tea to counteract the smell of coffee in the air. It's moments like these where she allows herself to forget about Naraku's schemes, how to save Yuji in the process of getting rid of Sukuna, and the constant threat of curses and curse users alike just waiting in the shadows for an opportunity.
"I might not be home in time for dinner," Satoru says, slumping into the seat next to her. He shifts the coffee to the other side of him. "Got a lot of missions today. Megumi is gonna stop by later."
Kagome takes a long sip from her drink. She needs to play this cool or he'll catch on to her. He's been paranoid about her going anywhere alone since she got kidnapped, but she needs to talk to Yakeru without Satoru or anyone else there. Even though Yumi came after her, Yakeru deserves to hear what happened from her and no one else.
"Did he say what time? Just planning out my nap schedule." She prays she does not fall asleep on the train. Her energy levels have been at an all-time low lately. Satoru caught her last night, knocked out on the couch with a bowl of forgotten ice cream.
"Nah, depends on when he finishes his mission." He leans over and pecks her lips. "Don't worry. He has a key to the house, so you don't have to worry about letting him in or anything." His eyelashes kiss his cheeks as he stares at her with love reflecting in his eyes.
He's so damn beautiful it hurts sometimes. Any other time, she would be grateful for his attentiveness. She's never had someone dote on her as much as he does, but right now, he's making it a tad bit difficult for her to see Yakeru without him.
"Don't like that they are working you so hard," she says, changing the subject. She'll just have to wait until after Megumi leaves. Silently, she prays he does not stay the night and opts to join the other students back at the dorms. A wave of guilt washes over her. What an awful thing to think, she berates herself. Megumi is such a sweet boy, and she really does not want to drag him along with her. He's still just a kid and shouldn't have to trouble himself.
"Helps knowing that you are at home where it's safe," he picks up his cup and winks at her. She clucks her tongue, moving away from the island.
"Yeah, yeah," she quips. Kagome waves a hand in the air as she retrieves the stack of bentos from the fridge. Left to his own devices, Satoru would just eat sweets all day. "Give some to the kids," she instructs as she places the bentos into a bag.
"You're the best, Gome-chan," Satoru says, his blue eyes unwavering. Kagome averts her gaze down to the bentos. The tips of her ears tingle.
"Any request for breakfast?" She tucks her hair behind her ears. Her stomach lurches at the thought of food. A wicked smile snakes its way across Satoru's face and Kagome wonders if she'll have to lecture him if he requests something sweet.
"Yep," he says, popping the 'p'. Satoru takes the mugs and dumps them in the sink. He stalks towards her. Kagome takes a step back, her back hits the island. Her heart rate speeds up. He lifts her up as though she weighs nothing and places her down on the island. He kicks the chair away; it lands on the floor with a thud.
"Toru?" She bites her bottom lip as he kisses the column of her neck. His large grips her thighs, his fingernails digging into her skin. She shivers at the feather-like touch tracing the sides of her lace underwear. "H-hey!" She pouts at yet another pair of ripped underwear.
"Shhh, let me have my breakfast." He flashes her a lopsided smile before sinking down.
Kagome pushes up the oversized glasses and lowers the baseball cap. She keeps her head down as she navigates through the streets of Tokyo. She has no idea when Megumi will show up, but she figures that his mission will probably take some time, and she hopes he stops by in the afternoon. Which gives her a tight deadline to make it to Yakeru's, talk to him, and make it back home in time to wash off all awful concoction she sprayed herself with.
Easy… hopefully.
She knocks on the door, ignoring the sign that says closed for vacation. No way he went on vacation. The fox loves running his shop too much. She knocks harder, more frantic. The door yanks open while she's in mid-knock.
"Did you not read the sign?" His green eyes are cold. She wets her lips and then removes the sunglasses.
"Can I come in?"
"Kagome-sama?" Yakeru gasps. He sniffs the air. "Why on earth do you smell like that?" He steps out of the way, allowing her to pass.
"I didn't want to take any risks." She tucks the sunglasses into her shirt and takes off the baseball cap. Her fingers glide across the custom hairpins, keeping her bun in place. "I'm sure you know."
"Ah, yes, because of the baby. There are no secrets amongst us foxes." He glides across the room, somehow still looking so unworldly, dressed down in a casual shirt and jeans. "I am honored that you have come all this way to see me."
Kagome sucks in a deep breath. "I wanted to talk to you about Yumi." Her heart thunders in her eardrums, her palms are slick with sweat.
"Did she do something to offend you? I have tried to talk reason into her," he remarks, leading them towards the back room.
"Well… Uh, she kidnapped me." Kagome tightens her grip on the baseball cap.
"Did she? And yet you are here and she is not." He looks over his shoulder, assessing. "I see."
"Y-you see?" Kagome's brows furrow. He should be upset. She shakes her head. "She was working with a demon—a half-demon named Naraku."
"Then the fault lies on my shoulders."
"What? No. You couldn't have stopped Yumi from working with Naraku. And I think she was acting alone from him."
"I should have known that he would try to manipulate Yumi. She was always power hungry and Naraku is a known schemer." His voice is calm, but his fingers twitch with agitation. In a burst of confidence, or maybe stupidity, she wraps her arms around his back. "Kagome-sama?"
"I'm sorry," she offers, her voice wavering. Yakeru's claws dig into his palms. "I didn't want to, but…" Tears cling to her lashes. She was not fond of Yumi and while she does not regret protecting herself and her child—her heart cries out for Yakeru. They stand there for a moment. Her mind dwells on how familiar the others are with Naraku. She wonders how long he has been in this world—clearly a lot longer than she.
"We foxes look out for own," Yakeru says, startling her. "It is how we have survived as long as we have."
"I'm sorry," she repeats.
"Yumi rejected you despite all of the mounting proof of who you are." His shoulders slump.
"She wanted my child. She didn't care about the jewel and I don't think Naraku knew what she was planning."
"No one but you can use the power of the jewel. According to the legend, others have tried, but their wishes have always been twisted and destroyed them in the end."
Kagome unwraps her arms and takes a step back. "A scroll was taken from the school about the Shikon."
Yakeru waves a hand. "They won't be able to open it, just like they cannot destroy Sukuna's fingers in their own strength." He tosses his red locks back. "The power scale shifted with the birth of your mate. He could wipe out Japan with a snap of his fingers if he wanted to. I should have anticipated this."
"Anticipated what?"
"Yumi hated how we have blended in with humans. It was not always this way, there was a time when we dominated… but we demons live a long time…"
"The human population took over?" She wonders if that explains the lack of demons in her world. "But the foxes at the hotel showed us the nursery."
"They won't be mature for centuries. Half demons take less time, but they come with the risk of losing themselves." He walks forward, leading them into an office space. He plops down in the chair, his mask cracks as the weariness settles onto his shoulders. "No one can deny the power of Satoru Gojo, not even Yumi. She must have seen your child as a weapon."
"Please do not do anything rash." Kagome rubs her arm.
"I cannot allow such a transgression. I will let the others know," he murmurs to himself as he opens the desk drawl, rummaging around for something. He pulls out a talisman and holds it out to her. "You do not understand the war that is brewing."
Kagome takes the talisman. "What is this for?" And what the heck does he mean by war? She can't tell if he means an actual one or him just seeking revenge.
"If you call, I will come." He stands up, his lips downturned. "I will take you back home. You should not have traveled alone."
"You sound like Satoru," she grumbles. She can take care of herself. Kagome puts the baseball cap back on. "I took measures to disguise myself." She slides the sunglasses on.
"Be that as it may, Naraku is not the only demon looking to return things to how they were. And your mate would have my head if I let you walk out of here and something were to happen."
"No one else knows that I'm the Shikon priestess," she points out.
"No, but you are a weak point that could be exploited if anyone wanted to take out your mate."
Yakeru trails behind her on the way home, keeping a safe distance where he could jump in at any sign of danger. In his paranoia, he changed his appearance to blend in further with the rest of the civilians. When they arrive at the home, she unlocks the door and then turns to him.
"Don't do anything rash," she stresses.
"You have nothing to worry about," he says, cheerily, "I won't do anything that you wouldn't do. Oh, and Kagome-sama, do be careful about the things you wish for."
"Wait—"
He poofs into a bird and flies off. Kagome groans. Great, just great. Yakeru is for sure going to try to track Naraku down. She takes off the baseball cap as she walks through the door. That went better than she was expecting. She thought that Yakeru would have lashed out in anger, but he was collected the entire time. And what was with the cryptic message?
"I should tell Satoru," she says, walking up the stairs. Aw, crap. She chuckles nervously at Satoru and Megumi standing at the top of the stairs.
"Tell me what?"

The Silence - Part 4 (SKW2022D4)
Tumblr media
SessKag Week 2022, Day 4
And I've always lived like this Keeping a comfortable distance And up until now I had sworn to myself That I'm content with loneliness
- The Only Exception by Paramore
Tumblr media
Exception
He had meant to keep his distance. Given how he’d honed his self-discipline, he should have been able to. He was not someone who gave into whims. He hardly had any of those, to begin with.
Except, of course, when it came to her.
The wind had carried her scent to him. She’d stood there, so close, with the sunlight in her hair, looking so beautiful that his heart trembled in surrender.
How could he have stayed away?
Sesshoumaru had walked over to Kagome and greeted her. He'd basked in her presence, let her aura wash over him in a way that both soothed and settled. He had breathed in her scent, storing it in his lungs and memory. He'd gazed at her features, so luminous in the sun. Her blue eyes had had a distinct sparkle that the candlelight could not quite capture.
It had forced him to realise how much he wanted to see her like this, out in the daylight. Out in the open. Without the need to hide from anyone, as if what they shared was something shameful.
As if he could ever be ashamed of her! How could he be anything but proud that such a powerful, courageous and caring woman had given herself to him?
The conversation they had engaged in had little meaning. It had just been an excuse to meet her, to allow himself a few more precious moments with Kagome.
Easily pleased, he’d told her, speaking of Rin. But the same description applied to him as well. He was content to simply stand next to her and exchange a few words with her.
It was getting tiresome to only visit her in secret, even though he'd chosen to do so to protect her reputation and to save her from Inuyasha’s ire. There were still two weeks before he would be able to visit her and somehow that felt like an eternity. Time had little meaning to a daiyoukai like him and yet it seemed to pass slower than ever.
Unfortunately, there was only one way out of this current predicament, and Sesshoumaru was reluctant to take it. Yet, he could sense it in himself now — that someday soon it wouldn't be enough to see her once in a moon. Yearning was already stirring within, a longing to be by her side every day. To wake up next to her. To sit together at breakfast. To talk with her in the afternoon. To love her into an exhaustion every evening, to hold her in his arms while she slept until sleep would finally find him too.
That was the life that he wanted.
If only he didn’t need his Elders' permission to take a mate! Were he free to do how he wished, he would already be formally courting Kagome. Openly, without any thought for unnecessary secrecy.
But such was not the world. Everyone had their duties and obligations to shoulder.
That day, even though he had spent but a few minutes in Kagome’s company, it was hard to leave the village. As he took to the skies, the further he got from that small, homely hut that Kagome had made her own, the more his heart screamed at him to turn back. To stay. And gripped with all of these impossible emotions, Sesshoumaru had already set his course before he realised it.
When his brain finally caught up with his actions and he understood where he was actually heading, he came to a stop. Staring at the mountains in the distance, Sesshoumaru hovered in the air. Hovered between the present and the future, the safe choice and the possibilities.
And that was why he had been reluctant to pursue this course of action before, he finally admitted to himself. He was was afraid that his request might be turned down and where would that leave him and Kagome then?
If he never dared try at all, would their relationship forever remain stagnant in the current limbo, never reaching the full bloom of its true potential? Now that was the risk Sesshoumaru couldn’t take.
His jaw set, Sesshoumaru continued to travel west. He would go do what he had been avoiding for so long, what he rarely had any cause to do, to begin with. He would go to seek out his Elders. He would make his request and he wouldn’t leave until he finally would get what he wanted — the permission to take the woman he loved as his mate.

Also read on: AO3
There will be spice under the cut~
————————————————————————-
It’s been too long since she was last this lost in him.
He’s been so careful with her.
But this time he doesn’t put the breaks on their usual passion in favor of babying her.
She is pressed against the wall of her shower, the curtain she just bought closed around them and casting blue light over their writhing bodies.
She scratches down his back as his body fills hers and hot water cascades down over their heads.
He licks the water from her neck and shoulders, and she shivers at the delicious contradiction of cold tiles at her back and hot muscles at her front.
This is familiar ground.
Wrapped around him like this, thrusting her hips in time with his, climbing up the peaks of pleasure and plummeting together back to the valley below is where they’d started, and it’s here she no longer feels she is floundering.
She is distracted.
She is on fire.
He latches onto her neck, softly biting down with his fangs, sucking on her skin, and she is roughly shoved into a mind numbing orgasm which he quickly follows her into.
As he catches his breath he rests his forehead on hers, then nuzzles his nose against hers, then presses a lingering kiss to her brow and she is suddenly back in foreign waters and forgetting how to swim.
He dries and dresses her, braids her hair, and she is silent and bewildered and soothed.
And she is tired.
But as she lays in his arms and the want of comfort wars with her lingering friend called Guilt, she has one thing on her mind that she can’t rest without expelling.
“Sesshomaru,” she whispers, and he answers her with a kiss to the back of the neck. “Was he alone? You know, when he…died?”
He is silent for a moment, unmoving, stone still, and she fears she is about to have her worst fears realized.
“I was not with him, but he was not alone.”
The knot that unties itself from her gut was so tight and painful for so long she’d stopped noticing, but with its new absence she feels lighter than air.
Some of the knives affixed in her back fall away, and she struggles not to scoop them up and hold them close.
She’s a mess, she knows.
She knows.
She turns and snuggles close, and Sesshomaru wraps her up without a word.
She falls asleep to the sound of his heart loud and strong in her ear.

A love touching across time
Part 1
This is going to follow the timeline of the manga. Please don't post this anywhere else.
Scroll two: InuYasha resurrected
We got to where Kagome was just in time. That demon had lunged at Kagome. Arrows flew lodging the centipede woman and making her drop my sister. "I'm saved." Kagome breathed in relief. "Really, Kikyo... I'm disappointed..." The boy lodged to the tree and spoke. "Listen you... I don't know who this Kikyo is... But she's not me!" Kagome screamed getting up from the ground. 'Huh, isn't that the name of lady Kaede's deceased sister?' Kagome got in front of the boy with dog ears. "Do you expect me to believe I wouldn't know the stench of the woman who..." The boy started just as loud as Kagome had been but stopped not finishing his sentence. "...Hm?" He uttered staring at my sister. "Get it now? My name is Kagome! Ka... Go... Me!" Kagome screamed punctuating the syllables of her name to get her point across. "You're right, Kikyo was smarter and definitely prettier than you." He spoke. Kagome looked pissed. "So uncalled-for cosplay boy!" I shouted. "Cos what now?" He questioned a dumb look adorning his face. 'Cute.' I shook my head. 'No, bad Asami. He's rude so not cute.'
In the blink of an eye, the centipede demon woman threw two of the village men, before grabbing Kagome who in turn grabbed the dog-eared boy’s hair. "Let..Me...Go." Kagome screeched at the centipede demon. "You let me go." Dog boy yelled at Kagome. Kagome just tugged harder because of the centipede demon tugging her.
"Lady Kaede... Inuyasha....!!!" One of the village men began nervously. "InuYasha... is awake??!!" Lady Kaede exclaimed. "What is it his naptime or something? Does he get angry or something when he's woken up?" I asked. "No child the spell on Inuyasha was never meant to break. But "it has. How?!" Kaede exclaimed shocked. "A spell to put people to sleep? OK uh, how long was his nap time?" I asked. "Inuyasha has been asleep for 50 years." One of the villagers said. I leaned into ask another villager. "Okay so like how long was Inuyasha actually asleep for?” “No child he was asleep for 50 years.” Before I could ask any more questions Kagome screamed. "GET AWAY!!" A small white light emitted from her hand as she tried to push the centipede woman off her Two of the centipede woman's arms looked like they'd melted off and she dropped Kagome. I ran to Kagome. "Kagome are you okay?" I asked. She didn't say anything and just stared at her hands in disbelief. I grabbed her hands and she finally said. "Did I just do that?" "Uh if you mean melt her arms off then uh yeah you did." I spoke. "VILE THING." The centipede woman screeched and dove for Kagome taking her a few feet into the air and biting into her side. "YAAA." Kagome yelled in pain. The centipede woman ripped away from my sister. "KAGOME!!!." I screamed running towards her as she fell. "What--?! Something came out of her...!" One of the villagers exclaimed. "The jewel of four souls--!!" Kaede announced.
"I knew, I knew, I knew you were hiding it! That jewel is mine." Mistress centipede said as the Shikon jewel hit the floor. “What?” Kagome asked. “GIVE IT TO ME.” Inuyasha yelled. Before either of us could react, the centipede woman scooped us up with her body, and Kagome and I were uncomfortably close to Inuyasha. ‘It hurts to move.’ “Heh heh heh heh… Inuyasha who seeks the Shikon jewel… I have heard of a half-demon by such a name… At last, we meet.” The centipede woman spoke. ‘A half-demon? I think I hit my head when I fell down the well.’ “Don’t insult me mistress centipede. If I’d wanted, our meeting would’ve been very short and your last.” ”Hey, you talk pretty big. But can you do anything except talk?” Kagome questioned. “Kagome now’s not the time for this. If he wants to be all macho in our final moments then let him,” I said. “Asami we’re not going to die probably.” She retorted with a scared look plastered on her face.
“You cannot move can you demon boy? That’s quite the spell you’re under.” Mistress centipede said then moved her upper body away from us back to where Kagome had been laying before. “All you can do now is watch!” Mistress centipede exclaimed sticking her tongue out and picking and sticking a small orb into her mouth, “NO! It’s mine!” Inuyasha exclaimed as mistress centipede swallowed the jewel. I could barely hear the shouts from the villagers.  I watched as mistress centipede’s severed arms flew through the air and reattached themselves to her body. “No, her arms..!” Kagome uttered out scared. Mistress centipede was still for a few seconds before her upper body’s skin came off. “Ew, what the fuck!” I exclaimed. “Such power… such joy.” “She’s happy?” Kagome questioned.
Mistress centipede tightened her grip on us making it harder and harder to breathe. “Hey, this arrow do you think one of you can pull it out?” Inuyasha asked.  “Yeah, I think I can.” I spoke reaching for it. I halted when I heard lady Kaede shout. “You must not!! That arrow contains the spell! You must not set him free!” “And what do you want, witch?! To become a centipedes dessert?! Once her body has digested the jewel of four souls… none of us will be able to stop her!” Inuyasha exclaimed. “Well, girls do you want to die here? Do you want your sister to die?” Inuyasha asked. ‘No that’s not what I want. I don’t want me or Kagome to die here.’ I grabbed the arrow and pulled it as hard as I could removing it from Inuyasha’s shoulder. It disintegrated once it left Inuyasha’s body. “HA HA HA HA HA.” Inuyasha laughed as he broke free from mistress centipede’s grasp freeing me and Kagome in the process, causing me and Kagome to land on our buts as Inuyasha jumped and landed a few feet away from mistress centipede. “You child.” Mistress centipede said as she lunged for Inuyasha.” Old enough for you… Hag!” Inuyasha said as he leaped towards her and in one fell swoop while shouting. “Demon be gone!!” He sliced her into bits and pieces. With a thud, he landed. ‘I didn’t think anyone could be that strong.’ “YOU’VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME IT’S STILL MOVING!!” Kagome shouted.
“Can you see a place where the flesh glows?” Lady Kaede asked. “AHH, Holy crap Kaede can you please not sneak up on us.” I said trying to catch my breath. ‘For an old woman, she sure does move quickly.’ “Sorry child it won’t happen again. But back to the matter at hand. The Shikon jewel must be burning her! Unless you remove the jewel, her body will resurrect itself through time without end.” Kaede spoke to Kagome. Kagome looked around glancing at the discarded pieces of mistress centipede’s body until her eyes landed on a specific piece. “Wait, I see it.” Kagome said digging through the piece of flesh before pulling out the Shikon jewel. “Huh, so that’s the Shikon jewel? So much trouble over something so small.” I spoke. “It may be small, but it has way more power than your stupid human brain can fathom.” Inuyasha said. “HEY, WHO ARE YOU CALLING STUPID DOG BOY?” I shouted at him. “Clearly you pea brain. The jewel gives power to demons meaning there’s no point in a mortal keeping it so Kikyo look-a-like be a good girl and hand it over unless you’d rather feel my claws!” Inuyasha said trying to look menacing.

Unwrap Me - Rated Explicit
Kagome has a special gift for Inuyasha underneath the Christmas tree, and it's wrapped in a tiny little red ribbon.
you can find it on AO3!

___
It was a cold Christmas morning as Inuyasha awoke in an empty bed, his beautiful girlfriend nowhere in sight. He thought nothing of it, knowing how Kagome is a huge lover of the holiday, and groggily stood up to brush his teeth and drink his morning coffee. After a quick run to the bathroom to freshen up his face and breath, he made his way to the kitchen where he was expecting Kagome to be.
Turning the corner of the hallway he called out to her, “Baby, what do you want… for… breakfast.” He blinked, too surprised to speak another word.
“Holy shit.” He muttered to himself. Sitting underneath the Christmas tree was his beautiful girlfriend wearing nothing but a red ribbon tied intricately around her breasts, and a little red thong tied around her hips.
“Merry Christmas Yash.” She said sweetly as she stood up from where she sat. The rich, red color made her skin stand out even more and accentuating her delicious curves.
“Babe, you look. Wow.” Inuyasha felt like an idiot as he stuttered in front of her. Here is his girlfriend who looks amazing and stunning in nothing but a red satin ribbon underneath their tree, and he looks like a blubbering idiot.
Kagome giggled, “Do you like your present?”
Inuyasha’s cock was already hard in his pajama pants as he watched Kagome’s hips sway towards him. His throat was dry, and it was like he could not speak. He’s seen her naked more times than he can count, but it doesn’t matter, because no matter how many times he does he will still be in awe of her beauty.
“So much.” He moaned.
She grabbed his hands and intertwined her fingers with his, and leaned in to kiss his lips. It was shy at first, but it grew deeper and passionate with every moment that passed. Inuyasha’s shock melted into something more primal, and a deep desire to get his girl in bed and take her then and there had taken over his senses. His hands roamed her body, feeling every soft curve of her skin to make sure nothing was left untouched. In turn, Kagome was on fire with every caress of his hands in her skin, the bits of her shyness leaving her as he touched her.
Inuyasha gripped her waist as he moved them towards the bedroom while their lips never stopped moving. He sat her down on the mattress as soon as they reached the bed as their kisses grew more heated and sloppy. Inuyasha’s hands smoothed over her bare thighs, relishing in the soft gasps she released and little goosebumps her body made in response. He wanted her immediately, he wanted to drink her in and get drunk off of her flavor.
“You look so good in red.” He complimented her before kissing her neck. “Fuck, you’re so beautiful.”
He kissed her passionately, the movements growing deeper and deeper as a primal desire continued to creep between them.
“Inuyasha.” Kagome whispered. The sound of his name on her lips caused a chill to run down his spine. He stared into her brown eyes as she bit her pink, swollen lips.
“Unwrap me.” She whispered again.
Never breaking eye-contact Inuyasha took off the ribbon slowly, paying attention to the way she looks when she bites her bottom lip. As he tossed the top somewhere carelessly behind him Kagome leaned back on her arms and parted her legs a bit more to allow him to enter the space between them. She was completely bare for him, full and perfect tits ready for his hands to touch and pert nipples for his tongue to taste.
He sucked in a breath and leaned forward, his hands moving before he could process his motions as they slowly caressed her thighs upwards. Kagome’s breath hitched at the touch but refused to break eye contact.
“Look at you.” Inuyasha growled, “So fucking sexy.” He instantly crushed his lips against hers in a hot kiss. One of his hands held her waist to keep her steady while the other continued to move its way up to her bare breasts.
His clawed thumb swiped at her nipple, causing Kagome to gasp in reaction. Inuyasha took the opportunity to slide his tongue into her mouth, hoping to get more of the taste but knowing he would never be satisfied. As he pinched and twisted the pink nub, Kagome’s hands went to grip his shirt while the other gripped the arm that held her waist. She moaned into his mouth, and he kissed her even harder in order to swallow it.
“Inu-“ Kagome cried in a broken voice.
“All this from a little bit of touching?” He replied huskily. He tweaked and pulled her nipple again and watched hungrily as her mouth opened and her eyes shut. “You’re so beautiful like this.”
He kissed her jaw before licking down her neck and giving attention to the spot by her jugular, the most sensitive spot in her neck that drives her crazy. He licked and sucked the area, making sure he leaves a mark for everyone to see and for him to kiss afterward. Kagome jolted involuntarily at his touches, causing her tits to bounce in Inuyasha’s hand and he groaned deeply; the vibrations from his reaction caused wetness to pool between her thighs.
Inuyasha squeezed the breast in his hands and rolled her nipple between his fingers at the same time, his goal was to build her up as much as possible in order to fuck her the way she deserves. He wanted to get lost in her body, learn about what makes her squirm, and rewrite the map in order to pleasure her in all of the ways she likes.
Satisfied with the way he left her neck Inuyasha continued to lick his way down, dragging his tongue down her collar bones and in between the valley of her breasts. Kagome was breathless above him, chest heaving with her cheeks a pretty shade of pink as she waited in anticipation for his next move.
His right hand never stopped pinching and rolling her right nipple, so he decided to give some extra attention to her left. He kissed and licked her breast and sucked the skin around the areola. Kagome whimpered above him as she couldn’t decide whether she wanted to lay back or stay sitting up. He growled deeply causing her to open her eyes and look down at him, and with her attention back on him he flicked her nipple with his tongue. She gasped and her legs parted further, silently begging to be touched right between her thighs.
“Mmm Inuyasha..” Her breathy moans of his name made his cock harder in his pants. The effects this woman had on him were unlike anything he has ever experienced, and he wanted to find out what his limit was when it came to her; if there even was one.
He sucked her nipple hungrily, the lewd sounds were enough to make Kagome embarrassed if it were not for how wet and turned on she was. With Inuyasha’s mouth and hand only on her tits, he continued to pay attention to her face and how her body reacted to his touch. With her head tilted back as she whimpered and moaned his name he swore he could stay like this forever just to watch her fall apart in the most beautiful way.
Kagome was so wrapped up in her own pleasure she subconsciously started to roll her hips to relieve some of the pressure between her thighs. Inuyasha could feel the heat coming from her clothed pussy and he almost faltered, her delicious scent and warmth almost too good to make him devour her from there.
He briefly popped his mouth from her red and puffy nipple and smirked, “Getting impatient are we?”
“Inuyasha, please.” Kagome begged prettily.
He flicked her nipple with his tongue, “Please what baby?”
“Please touch me, touch me more, please?” Her hips rolled again in response.
His fingers replaced his tongue as both hands rolled and squeezed her pink nipples. “I’m already touching you, aren’t I?”
Kagome cried out, practically sobbing at his nonstop teasing. She grabbed one of his hands that were latched on her breasts and placed it on her soaked pussy. “Here, please, touch me right here!”
His eyes grew darker with lust as he watched her use his hand to pleasure herself. her hips rolling in a tantalizing rhythm. Her juices were coating his fingers through her soaked panties as she continued her dance on his hand.
“Fuck Kagome, you’re so fucking sexy, holy fuck, look at you.” Inuyasha’s mouth watered at the sight in front of him, “You’re so wet, baby.”
Kagome looked at him with half-lidded eyes. “Taste me. Please? I want you to taste me.”
Upon hearing those words Inuyasha immediately kissed her lips in a hungry daze. Her mouth accepted entry from his hot tongue while she continued to ride her sopping pussy with his large hand. He bit her bottom lip and sucked while using his thumb to massage her clit, causing her to mewl loudly into his mouth.
“Y-yes!” She whimpered. “Like that!”
Inuyasha laughed darkly, “Baby, you’re so worked up.” He added more pressure to her clit, rubbing in small circles as he watched her spread her legs wider and lift her pelvis up in an attempt to feel more from him. Her cheeks, neck, and chest were painted in a delicious red blush from all of the teasing he has done to her.
“I need more Inu.” She cried, “Need you to touch me more.”
He bit his own lip in an attempt to control himself, hard enough to taste blood, and looked down at her pussy. Her little red panties looked like they had been dropped in a bucket of water, with no dry spot in sight, completely covered in her slick juices and her scent was becoming harder to resist. Inuyasha knew he was torturing himself by holding back, but he wanted to watch her beg for him like this all day if he had the option to. He knew she was ready for him, he could feel her pussy throbbing in his hands, practically sucking his fingers in.
He leaned in close to her ear, “Let’s take these off then huh?” His voice was rich with arousal, and she could feel the deep vibrations coming from his chest. “They’re in my way.”
“Yes, please!” Kagome pleaded, “Please take them off me!”
Carefully Inuyasha used the tip of his claw to sever the red lace through the middle, having them successfully come apart and squelch lewdly onto the floor. The cold air from the room immediately hit Kagome’s dripping pussy and she shivered involuntarily.
Inuyasha groaned as he looked at her glistening wet cunt, her arousal dripping slowly onto the bed and making a small puddle. “Look at you, you’re making a fucking mess.”
Taking in the nipple he had not sucked yet into his mouth, he continued to hold her steady with one hand as he gently coated his fingers with her juices. He touched her everywhere, except
her clit, and reveled in her soft cried and breathy moans. He sucked her nipple and flicked it with his tongue, giving it all the attention he had not given it before. She was squirming in his hold. wanting to run away from his hand but also wishing he could just touch her where she really needed to be touched. His name was being chanted like a spell coming from her lips, and it was taking even an ounce left of his self-control not to fuck her right now.
He let go of her nipple with a wet pop and sloppily kissed her lips. “Spread your legs wider for me baby, I want to see all of you.” Desperate for more, Kagome spread her thighs as much as she could in the position that she was in and moaned pathetically as she felt the pad of Inuyasha’s finger finally massage her clit.
Inuyasha would not be able to successfully describe just how wet Kagome really was to anyone. She was beyond soaked, her arousal was so thick and heavy that his fingers were slipping easily with every stroke of his hand. His fingers were coated in her delectable scent, the squelching sounds coming from her pussy were only turning them both on even further. Kagome finally felt like a match was finally lit from within her, the unimaginable need of having Inuyasha touch her where she wanted was being met. As he quickened the pace her body jolted and shook in response, the pleasure growing too much and too quickly in the pit of her belly. In her pleasured frenzy she fell back on the bed and pinched her nipples, moaning Inuyasha’s name repeatedly until she saw white and arched her back. Her first orgasm crashed through her faster than the wind and her legs shook with the aftershocks. Inuyasha watched intensely, waiting for her to catch her breath.
“Baby, you made such a mess.” Inuyasha teased her. The eye contact between them was breakable as he licked and sucked his fingers. “You taste fucking delicious, I’m going to need to taste you some more.”
In a blink of an eye, Inuyasha was on his knees as he stared at Kagome’s pussy like it was his last meal. He quickly removed his shirt and tossed it somewhere behind him before grabbing Kagome’s thighs and helping her bend her knees so he can spread her out even further.
“You have such a pretty pussy.” He told her huskily before kissing each of her thighs until he was met in the middle.
He ran his tongue across her wet folds and Kagome cried out in pleasure. He lapped her juices and fucked her hole with his tongue. Her taste, her scent, and the way she was crying in pleasure, he could not get enough of it. She was a drug he could not quit and he would take every inch of her every day if possible.
“Inuyasha, fuck yes, like that.”
He said nothing in response because he was too drunk on her taste. Flicking her clit with his tongue he basked in how her body shook and her back arched, one hand pinching her pink nipple while the other was fisting the bedsheet. Wanting more of the same reaction from her he sucked the bundle of nerves, and it caused Kagome to lift off the bed. He held her legs down with both of his arms and continued to pleasure her with his mouth. He fucked her sopping hole while he rubbed with his tongue as he rubbed her clit with his fingers, watching her cry and scream from above him.
“I’m gonna cum!” She wailed, her moans becoming higher pitched. “Please, please, I’m gonna cum!”
Inuyasha continued to hold her body down as she shook on the bed, her orgasm was so powerful she continued to shake for another minute. While he waited for her body to recover Inuyasha kissed and licked her inner thighs gently before moving his way up her body. He kissed his way up her stomach and kissed her breasts, making sure he sucked each nipple once again before meeting her lips for a hot kiss. She moaned into him, the taste of her pussy still on his tongue as they explored each other’s mouths.
“God, I love you.” He told her between kisses. “And I’m not done with you yet.”
Kagome hummed in response, feeling tired but still craving him more and more. She gently touched his ears and ran her fingers through his hair lovingly. “I love you so mu- oh!” Her head tilted back, interrupted by one of Inuyasha’s fingers circling her puffy clit once again.
He backed away from her and finally removed his pants and underwear, and his hard cock sprung out of its confines. Kagome leaned on her arms for a better view of him in his naked form, completely bare and delicious. His body seemed to be sculpted by every famous artist known to man, making sure there were no flaws or missing pieces. She could run her hands on his body all day long and kiss every part of him if she could.
She was not aware that she was biting her lip as she stared at him, and Inuyasha could not bite back his smirk. “If you keep looking at me like that this’ll be over a lot faster than you want it to.”
“I’m sorry, but you look like a god standing over there while you watch me lay here doing nothing.”
“Doing nothing? You look fucking incredible, Kagome.” He pumped his cock and groaned at the touch of his own hand. “If you doing nothing gets me like this, then I’m gonna need you to do nothing everyday for the rest of your life”
She blushed prettily on the bed, her lip-biting not helping Inuyasha in the slightest as he continued to pump his cock at the sight of her. “Touch yourself.” He commanded, “But don’t cum. Only I will make you cum.”
Kagome fixed her position before opening her legs again and slowly moving her hand down to her pussy. She was so wet, her fingers were already dripping with her slick, and it was the hottest she has ever felt. The way Inuyasha was watching her, all she wanted to do was put on a show. Her fingers found her sensitive clit and she began to rub it, building up the speed as she tried to match with Inuyasha’s own hand. Her pussy was pulsing around nothing, and she desperately wanted to be filled, and so she inserted two slick fingers into her hole and pumped herself.
“Fuckkkk yeah.” She heard him moan, “Fuck yourself like that. You look so fucking good baby, keep fucking yourself, I wanna see.”
Kagome cried in delight as she continued to match the pace of his hand. “Mmm, so good!” She whined, “I want more!"
He held onto the wall as he continued to fist his cock, “What do you need baby? I’ll give it to you, you just gotta tell me.”
She could feel another orgasm on the way, and she knew she needed to stop herself soon, but she felt so good fucking herself with her fingers.
“You! I want you, please fuck me!” Almost giving in to her own desires, she stopped herself from cumming, and removed her fingers from her pussy. She could feel herself throbbing from the missing tension, and wanting nothing more than to keep fucking herself if it meant she could have another orgasm.
Stopping himself from his incoming orgasm Inuyasha walked towards Kagome and kissed her passionately. She was what he would want forever, for the rest of his life, and if she was begging him to fuck her after an hour of teasing, then he was going to give her what she wants.
He let go of her lips and grabbed her legs, he bent them towards her chest before spitting on her pussy. Kagome moaned in response to the action, and Inuyasha grabbed his cock and teasingly slid it over her slick folds. He would get close to the entry just to slide back up, making sure he was completely coated in her wet slick. Inuyasha fisted his cock and slapped it on her folds where lewd sounds appeared and echoed in the bedroom. Satisfied with how lubed he was, and with the squirming Kagome was making underneath him, he inserted himself slowly into her sopping hole until he was fully sheathed in her warmth.
They both gasped at the new form of contact, and the feeling of being completely filled had Kagome almost cumming instantly. Whereas Inuyasha needed a moment to focus on the task before him, because Kagome seemed to be sucking him in, and the warmth of her gummy walls was too much all at once.
After a moment of clarity, Kagome began to roll her hips. “Inuyasha, please move. Please fuck me.” She whispered.
Finally being back in control, Inuyasha pulled back and then pushed himself back in, earning a breathy mewl from the girl underneath him. He quickened the pace with each thrust until he was fucking her at a rhythm that had the both of them groaning.
“Yes! So good!” Kagome cried, her hands were gripping onto the sheets for better leverage as Inuyasha fucked her senselessly. He gripped her thighs and spread them open in order to watch where they were connected.
Inuyasha watched her tits bounce tantalizingly, and he bent down to pop a nipple in his mouth and sucked, the extra added sensations causing Kagome to cry out his name. The sounds that were coming out of her mouth are enough to make him cum on the spot and the way she moans out his name makes him feel powerful. She withered beneath him, getting her legs to spread even wider in order for him to fuck her even deeper. Inuyasha continued to slam into her at a delicious rhythm as he got her closer to another orgasm.
He pulled out of her quickly, already missing the feeling of her pussy as he flipped her over onto her hands and knees and slowly inserted himself back into her pussy.
“Oh yes!” She moaned as she arched her back and gripped onto the bed.
Inuyasha watched her ass jiggle from the intensity of his thrusts and he smacked her cheek and smirked at the cry of pleasure she let out. He did it again to the other cheek, making sure they were marked red with his handprints as he continued to thrust into her. Her juices were dripping down his balls as he fucked her, and it made him want to make her cum again.
“You look so good like this baby. You have such a cute little ass. All nice and red because of me.” He smacked one of her ass cheeks once again.
He leaned on her back and rubbed her clit at the pace of his thrusts while he kissed and sucked her neck. The tightrope in Kagome’s belly was going to snap in any second, and she was beginning to see white.
“I’m- cumming!” She stammered out, her body shaking from her third orgasm of the night.
Inuyasha kissed her back, keeping himself inserted inside her as her slick walls sucked in his cock with her orgasm. He wanted to make her cum one more time before he did, and he was determined to make it happen. As she began to relax, he gently pulled out of her and groaned at the loss of her warmth.
“How are ya feeling?” He asked her, lifting her from her position on all fours to having her sit on shaky legs.
“I feel so good, but how come you haven’t cum yet? I thought being your Christmas present meant you’d cum more.” Kagome pouted.
Inuyasha laid back on the bed and helped Kagome straddle his lap since her legs were so weak. “Baby, making you cum is the hottest fucking thing I can do for you. That’s why I haven’t cum yet.”
He aligned his cock with her wet hole and groaned as she slid herself into him. “And I want to feel you cum on me one more time.”
Kagome grabbed Inuyasha’s cheeks and pulled him in for a kiss as she began to ride his girthy cock. The slow and sensual riding is the perfect build-up along with their shared kiss. Inuyasha gripped her ass and helped her move above him, knowing that her legs did not have the strength to keep moving at the same pace.
Inuyasha leaned back and watched her bounce on his cock, her full and perfect tits bouncing with every move as she rolled her hips above him.
“God I could watch you do this all day.” He pinched her nipples and rolled him between his fingers as he watched her mouth open in a silent moan. The way her body moved and rolled as she fucked herself with his dick was mesmerizing. Kagome was a goddess, and Inuyasha was the lucky bastard who got to see her like this. With curves that he was lucky enough to bite and touch and lips he could kiss at any given time of the day, he knew he found the most beautiful girl in the entire world.
“Inuyasha” Kagome moaned beautifully, “Please make me cum again.”
Without an ounce of hesitation, Inuyasha gripped Kagome’s waist and pumped himself into her wet pussy. His thighs were soaked in her juices as he continued to thrust himself into her sopping hole, the lewd sounds coming from them forming a song with Kagome’s moans. He knew she was getting closer to her orgasm as her moans turned into high-pitched squeals, and as she gripped both of his shoulders in her attempt to not fall.
“Yes, yes, please, yes!” She gasped, “Mmmm fuck yes!” Her belly was on fire, and her toes were beginning to curl. She could feel everything and nothing at the same time as the fire ignited in her body and spread throughout.
“Cum for me. Need you to cum on me again.” Inuyasha chanted as he looked at her face.
“I’m gonna! Inu!” Kagome cried, her body shaking above him. He continued to thrust into her as she rode out her orgasm, the strong squeezing of her pussy finally sending him over the edge as he came into her. His cum filled her pussy and he shook underneath her, her name coming out of his lips in a pleasured moan.
As their chests heaved for air, Kagome moved strands of Inuyasha’s hair off of his face before leaning in to kiss him for a sweet and tender kiss. They stayed quiet for a little while as they sat in the comfortable silence of being in each other’s arms.
After catching his breath, Inuyasha leaned back in the headboard and grinned. “Damn babe, what a hell of a Christmas gift.”
Kagome blushed and shrugged her shoulders. “I know you get me like this almost every night, but I wanted an excuse to wear a red ribbon.”
“And now all I want is for you to wear nothing but a red ribbon around me.” He teased her.
“Babe!”
“Hey, you did this to yourself.” Inuyasha put his hands up in defense.
“Mmmm..” Kagome thought, “I’ll only do it if you also wear a red bow for me one day.” “A red bow? Where would you want me to put it?”
“Let’s think.” Kagome teased, “How about right here?” Kagome rolled her hips as they were still connected to each other, and the movement caused the half-demon to choke out a whimpered moan.
“I’ll wear a bow right now if you do that again.” He grinned.
Kagome giggled and kissed him eagerly, her hips already moving above him on their own accord. “Merry Christmas to me.”
He kissed her back lovingly and laughed, “Nah, Merry Christmas to us.”

AN: For the ever so awesome Revang, who has very bad luck involving car hubcaps. I don't usually do repeats of prompts but this is for them, so I'm making an exception. Blame Beneath the Blackthorn tree for the 'fae stealing humans' vibe this fic gives off lol. You can put kid! Kagome at any age from 6-10 but I HC her to be about 7 in this AU.
Prompt: "I've been falling in love with you since the first day we met."
Warning: Some angst involving hospitals. If your loved one is currently in one, maybe put off reading this fic for now.

"Kagome, Kagome- the bird in the cage~"
Children holding hands and hurrying around in a linked circle giggled, buzzing from mischief and the excitement of play. "When, oh when will it come out," they all chanted in song.
"Stop it!"
A young girl bowed in the centre of their swaying bodies, hands clasped tight over her ears. She hated this game. She hated it! Nobody ever listened to her, they always made Kagome the Demon; the person who was forced to sit blindfolded in the middle of the group.
Maybe it wouldn't be so bad if they stopped after the first round, but on and on it went. If Kagome ever tried to leave the circle early, her schoolmates would turn on her, pushing the girl back into the middle until she sat down again. 'Don't ruin the game, Kagome!' they'd scold her. 'You're the only one who can be the demon! Your freaky eyes see weird things!'
"In the night of dawn~" they continued, giggling.
Kagome braced herself, tears leaking out from beneath her blindfold.
"The crane and turtle slipped!"
She held her breath, expecting hands to shove hard at her back. They sometimes left bruises.
"Who is behind you now-?" their joyful voices become strangled with alarm. Someone hit the floor beside her, sounding like they'd been shoved instead of her. Girls squealed, some children whining.
"Who are you? Get lost! You're not part of our game!"
A quiet, boyish voice reached Kagome's hearing, silky and measured. "...Hn? I am not allowed to play?" A beat of heavy, prominent silence came when he seemed to pause, as though savouring their reactions to something. "Are you going to stop me?" the air stirred, agitated.
Hungry.
"A-ah! You're creepy!"
"Creep!"
Rapid footfalls signalled the children backing up and hurrying away, squealing with fear. Shifting, Kagome slowly reached for her blindfold, figuring it was safe to take off now. Inching it up over her forehead, blue eyes cracked open.
"You did not answer their little game. Do you know who stands behind you, girl?"
Kagome frowned, thinking for a moment. She had that itch again. The kind that tickled the back of her neck. It always accompanied seeing strange things.
"A demon, I suppose," she muttered, scrubbing at her cheeks. Turning on bruised knees, she looked over one shoulder at the young boy standing nearby. "But I think I can call you my friend, instead. My friend is behind me."
The boy with short, snowy white hair, chubby cheeks and narrow, rich golden eyes frowned. He wore old fashioned, white clothing patterned with cherry blossoms that clashed terribly with the modern playground.
He tipped his head to one side. "Is that so?" amusement coloured his face. "And you get to decide that, do you?"
She stood, sniffing and dusting herself off. "You stopped them...so you're a good person."
"Even though I am youkai?"
"Just because you're different, it doesn't make you bad. At least, that's what Mama tells me. Aoi, Ryoma and the others pick on me because of my eyes and the weird things I see," Kagome shrugged, "but I'm not bad."
He arched a brow, "your eyes?"
"Mn...my Papa is a for...forie…" she frowned. "He's not from Japan. I take after Mama, but got his eyes. Not everyone likes that."
"What a ridiculous thing to make a fuss over," he huffed. "What things do you see?"
Her brows knit together. Ghostly figures, men with their faces turned upside down. Women with long, snake-like necks.
"Things that other kids can't, for some reason. They always think I'm making stuff up. Papa said they're demons."
"I see," the boy tilted his head curiously.
Giving a huge grin, she grasped his clawed hand without fear. "I'm Kagome! What's your name?"
"...Girl, I do not-"
"Kagome! Ka-go-me!" she pouted.
He huffed, striped cheeks blooming red as he glared at the petite hand holding his own prisoner. "You are strange," he uttered. "I do not know how you discerned my species. Can you… see my markings? Usually humans only see me if I allow it, but none are permitted to look upon my heritage."
"You mean the pretty crescent moon on your forehead and the pink tiger stripes? Mhm!"
He blushed harder, glancing away and mumbling something that sounded like 'pretty?' under his breath.
The boy then stood a little straighter, looking at her with assessing, sharp eyes. "This one donned a glamour. It is impressive you can see through it. You have earned my name. I am Sesshoumaru," he sniffed in a refined manner, round chin tilting up. "We may play together."
Kagome grinned widely, blue eyes shining. "Really?! I'd love to!"
---
From that day on, the odd little pair were inseparable. Strangely he attended none of their classes. Teachers had no idea who Kagome referred to when she spoke of her 'friend' outside in the playground.
"An imaginary friend," they dismissed, causing her to sour.
During break times at school when Kagome's class could run free in the playground, he'd take her hand and monopolise Kagome's attention, which she had no problem with. They'd hide behind the bike shed together and talk about Kagome's strange 'ticklish' feelings, which only heightened when Sesshoumaru let his red, flickering youki rise on his skin.
Experimentally, she'd reached out and touched the energy once- causing him to yelp and flash tiny fangs at a bright pink spark that flashed from her finger.
Kagome had blinked owlishly, staring at her hand.
"You are a miko," Sesshoumaru muttered, sounding almost accusatory. She'd stiffened then, frightened her new friend would turn on her too.
But a look of mild respect had livened his eyes. He seemed to warm to her a little more after that, experimenting with her. They both tried raising their opposing energies, pulling forth their auras without really understanding what they were doing. Kagome found his youki a little cruel, sharp and unusual- but it was also curious, warm and protective.
Sesshoumaru told Kagome that her reiki felt uncomfortable, sparking and big. He liked it for challenging him.
"Can other people do this stuff?" Kagome asked, their hands raised to hover inches away, tiny pulses of power sparking out between them. They felt like tiny electric shocks.
He sneered pridefully, "none of the fools in your class are like us. Demons can do these things easily."
Golden eyes shifted away as he listened to the sound of children playing. "I do not know why I crossed into this side of the veil in the first place. Humans are nothing special."
"I'm not sure what you mean, but...if you hadn't, we wouldn't have become friends. That's something good to come out of it, right?" Kagome smiled at him from behind their hands.
Sesshoumaru's cheeks darkened. He stilled as their fingers clasped and no pain assaulted him. He breathed out slowly, finding her self-control impressive.
"Hn, I suppose so," he uttered. Mikos were strange creatures.
---
Curiously, whenever the school bell rang and it was time to leave, no parent came for Sesshoumaru that Kagome could see. He lingered in the shade with his old-fashioned clothes, slipping away around a corner. Alone.
"Where do you go when you're not here?" she asked during break time.
Golden eyes caught the sun, flashing white for a moment. "Back to my domain. You would fit in better there."
"I would?"
"Mn," a small, clawed hand wrapped around her wrist, lifting her arm and eyeing the bruises. "Your classmates did this?"
Kagome glanced away, tugging her arm back to fiddle with the large bow nestled at the back of her short black hair. "They pick on me during class instead now. Most of the time it happens when we play sports. They keep threatening to lock me in the girl's bathroom on the fifth floor."
"What is so special about that place?"
Kagome shuddered. "Haven't you felt it? There's a dark thing there. Everyone is afraid to go in, even if they can't see the evil."
He paused, as though considering it. A spirit lingered there, certainly. An Aka-Manto. Sesshoumaru had never paid much attention to it- ghosts being beneath his notice.
"You should come with me to my world," Sesshoumaru's voice hardened. "I will keep you."
Blinking, she frowned with confusion. "Keep me...safe?" she guessed he'd meant to finish the sentence with.
His pretty, inhuman face didn't change in the least, perfectly serious. Kagome giggled, thinking it a game. "Okay, we can go!"
---
During the car ride home, Kagome grinned to herself, shoes barely able to touch the floor.
"You seem happy, kiddo. Did something happen today at school?" her father asked, glancing at her from the driver's seat as their car merged with Tokyo traffic.
"Mhm! You know Sesshoumaru?"
"Your imaginary friend?"
Blue eyes blazed, narrowing. She turned away, folding her arms sourly.
"Alright, alright," Mr Higurashi chuckled. "Yes? Your friend."
She softened enough to forgive him, swinging her legs. "I'm going to visit his home!"
"I hope it's nice," her father smiled indulgently, changing gears. He didn't think any further on the matter. There was nothing to fear from a child's imagination.
"Didn't you used to see things?"
"Heh, I did, but that was a long while ago. I think I was seven," he adjusted his glasses, blue eyes warming. "After I was involved in an accident on my bike, I never saw any imaginary friends again. I called them 'demons' because sometimes they could be scary creatures. Guess I was a weird kid."
"I see scary stuff too, Papa. Not just pretty boys," Kagome hummed.
Unbeknownst to Mr Higurashi, Sesshoumaru sat primly within the back of his car. He adjusted himself, sniffing delicately and eyeing the steel ceiling. Kagome shifted to sneak a glance behind her, exchanging impish smiles with him.
---
The second Kagome had changed out of her school uniform and into a pink dress, she raced outside.
Sesshoumaru awaited her at the edge of Higurashi shrine's garden. He cocked his head at her footwear. "What are you wearing, miko?"
"Oh! They're cool, lookit!" she slammed her foot down, causing the skechers to light up, giving off a pink and blue glow.
The demon crouched, cooing with appreciation. "Impressive. You can conjure magic."
Kagome giggled, taking his hand and tugging. "So which way is your home? I need to be back for 6.00, Mom is making stew."
Small fingers laced with hers, tightening as Sesshoumaru took the lead. He wandered around the back of an old storage shed. "Home is everywhere if you know where to look."
Falling silent the second they stepped beneath harsh shadows, Kagome gasped as Sesshoumaru melted into the shade, disappearing and simultaneously tugging her with him.
She stumbled, squeezing blue eyes tightly shut.
"What are you doing?"
Peeling them open reluctantly, her breathing hitched. Humid air caressed her cheeks.
A forest of sturdy bamboo awaited her. Sunlight barely managed to reach them, straining down from the top of the shoots packed tightly together. Looking behind her- Higurashi Shrine was nowhere to be found, but a kind of energy rippled in the space where they'd entered Sesshoumaru's 'world.'
He tugged her hand impatiently. "Stay close," he smirked, "or you will get lost and wander in here for eternity."
Kagome huffed, following as he led the way, weaving around bamboo. "It's not nice to joke around about that kind of thing."
"Who said I was joking?"
"Your face did-" she hurried closer, poking at the corner of his mouth. "You get this twitch at the end of your mouth when you're lying."
Magenta stripes darkened. "I do not."
"Yes, you do!"
"Do not."
Kagome's retort stumbled, cut off as they emerged from within the claustrophobic forest. Sunlight blazed down upon them with full force, allowing her to see what looked like a dragon looping within yellow skies.
Directly before her was a series of dark wooden posts embedded into a wide lake, available for them to step onto from where they stood on the high riverbank. The incredibly difficult series of stepping stones led towards a huge, towering mansion. Traditional Japanese architecture that Grandpa would've fainted at sat upon a raised platform sat upon more posts, the whole thing resembling an extravagant lake house. Beyond it, Kagome could sense hundreds and hundreds of demons. All roaming around- spread wide within unknown corners of this strange world.
Sesshoumaru hopped out onto a post, and then onto another. He achieved perfect balance, gliding onto them as though weightless.
Kagome worried her bottom lip between her teeth.
"Too hard, miko?" he teased.
"No! I can do it. Give me a sec. And for the last time, call me Kagome," she took a breath. Summoning her courage, Kagome lept forth- shoe skidding across the top of a post. Yelping, she anticipated plummeting into clear waters below, only for arms to rush up, catching her.
Kagome gasped, quickly holding on tight around the boy's neck. "I-I didn't know you could fly!"
"A mere trifle in comparison with my other gifts," he preened, white hair fluttering in the breeze.
His house was as magnificent inside as out. Tall, vast halls awaited them, dripping with quality and opulence. The very mansion seemed to hum with energy. The children ran around, playing hide and seek and racing each other to the highest points of the towers. One thing remained consistent throughout, and it was not just the finery of his home.
The place was empty. Not a soul disturbed them. Their squeals and rapid footfalls echoed through lonely halls.
"Where are your parents?" she finally asked, panting and collapsing beside him on the porch.
Sesshoumaru did not answer immediately. "...Father and Mother are often away, wandering through your world. They are fascinated by it," he soured.
Kagome rolled over onto her stomach to frown at her friend. "They leave you alone?"
Golden eyes gazed up placidly at the ceiling. Glazed, apathetic- but she could sense something behind his words. "I am deemed old enough to be left for prolonged periods of time."
Frowning, she inched closer, peering down at him with purpose. Sesshoumaru started, eyes cracking wider. His breath stalled. "What?"
"That's going to change," she vowed. "Every spare moment I have- I'm gonna spend it with you. I won't let you be lonely, Sesshoumaru."
He gazed up at her as though stunned, held in a dream. He then smiled slightly, pushing her forehead away. "How annoying. Sounds clingy," he drawled, ignoring her whine.
---
There was more. So much more to his realm known as 'Demon World.' Sesshoumaru showed her purple beaches lit by twilight, caves of glittering jewels remaining unmined, dens of demon fox-kits and the highest reaches of tall magnolia trees with golden leaves. He showed her these things at every opportunity- almost every day after school. Kagome kept her word, visiting as often as possible. Each night it broke her heart a little to leave him. Sometimes they had secret sleepovers in her room, voices hushed.
This went on for seven months.
The grinning little girl returned home one day to find flashing blue lights within Higurashi Shrine, smile slipping free from her face. The police had pulled up, officers inside talking to Mama.
Kagome could hear animalistic keening from within the house. A terrible, awful wailing.
She, Mama and Grandpa were taken to the hospital. Papa was in critical condition after getting involved in a car accident.
Kagome was allowed to see him only when it became obvious that Papa wouldn't be waking up again. The injuries were too great. Damaged, vital organs were failing.
Machines beeped, wires, tubes and other things hooked up to him. The image of him became obscured by thick tears, but Kagome made peace with that. She could barely recognise him anyway.
Slipping outside, she left Mama and Grandpa to their grief within the hospital room, who didn't think to watch her- drugged and numbed by shock.
Stumbling down pure white halls that smelled too strongly of chemicals, Kagome clapped her hands over blue eyes. She didn't want to see. There were so many grey, wandering souls around. Ghosts of people who had lost their way. She couldn't bear it if she saw Papa walking among them.
"Miko?"
Jolting, she allowed small hands to pry shaking fingers from her eyes. Kagome shuddered, tears leaking down round cheeks. "Se-Sess..."
His features became grave. "This one noticed the blue lights at your house. Humans tend to die whenever those are involved."
She flinched, knowing he didn't mean to be so blunt. "I-it's my Papa," she whispered in a broken voice. Why wasn't she sobbing? Didn't she love him enough?
"I brought this, just in case," Sesshoumaru lifted a big sword into view.
She didn't feel like talking about swords right then. "Oh? That's nice," Kagome muttered numbly.
The demon stepped closer, tone becoming firm. He touched her cheek, claws brushing into her hair. "I will save your Papa, Kagome. I have the power to do so. I will do it if..."
"If what?" she choked, scrubbing at her eyes harshly. "I'll do anything!"
Golden eyes glinted with that strange inhuman quality they gained sometimes, as though experiencing an emotion that did not belong to humans. He gestured to the much too big sword resting at his hip. "This is my Father's sword. It can bring people back from the dead, human or youkai. Come with me," he said in an intense rush. "Come into Demon World. Live there with me. If you agree to this- I will save him."
Kagome stilled, reeling. She grit her teeth, fat tears welling up in her eyes. "And if I say no? You'd let him die?"
Sesshoumaru's expression flickered, briefly contrite. Striped cheeks then puffed up petulantly.
The girl snarled, stamping her foot. "You're a BAD friend!" turning, she marched away.
He flashed tiny canines, blurring through the air to appear before her, grabbing her sleeve and shoving it up her arm to expose purple bruises. "You hate it here," he hissed. "They will never appreciate you."
She ripped her arm away. "I have Mama, Papa and Grandpa!"
"None of which believed you whenever you mentioned me. They never stopped to examine your bruises," Sesshoumaru growled. "They dismissed them as play."
Kagome fell quiet, lower lip wobbling. Everything felt like too much for her to handle. She wanted Mama to decide for her. "I...I guess so," she thought for a moment, shoulders falling. "They do have my little brother on the way to replace me. And I guess I do...have fun in your world."
The bubble burst. Building blocks holding her fragile self together fell.
Sesshoumaru stiffened as she suddenly grabbed him close, hugging him tight and sobbing loudly. "But I'd miss them!" she wailed. "I'd miss them so much!"
His brows pulled together, dipping his nose into her short dark hair. She was dear to him, this silly human. He sighed, burying his face in her shoulder.
He worried. He worried she would grow older and a chasm would open up between their ages. His slow demonic ageing couldn't keep up with her. She was already slightly taller than him. In the demon world, they could age at the same pace due to time not working the same way it did in her realm.
Golden eyes grew conflicted, childish selfishness rose to battle with other emotions.
"Alright," Kagome relented, sniffing. Her cheeks were red and blotchy, stained with tears. "I'll come with you. Just please save Papa."
"I will have to wait for him to die before I can save him," he uttered grimly.
A fresh dam of tears burst, causing her to shudder, pressing muffled sobs into his silver hair. They stood like that for a while, adults ignoring the little girl who seemed to embrace open air. Grandpa finally found her, guiding her away.
She re-joined her Mother, firmly resisting the idea of returning home when asked.
Kagome resolved to stay, watching over Papa while he lay in the hospital bed, his life ebbing away.
---
She awoke upon feeling her shoulder be shaken. Jolting awake, she met her mother's watery brown eyes. Alarm crashed through her small system, tears immediately collecting. It seemed she'd been moved outside the hospital room into a chair against the wall.
"I-is Papa-?"
Mama's brows drew together, and she scooped Kagome up into her arms, careful of the baby bump between them. "It's so strange, Honey. He's okay," she breathed. "He died- briefly. His heart failed. The Doctors pronounced him dead and everything- but then his heart started beating again! His fatal injuries seemed to have healed. Reporters are waiting outside. It's like a miracle."
Blue eyes flew wide. Kagome sprang out of Mama's arms, racing into her father's room, breath hitching at the sight of him sitting up without any tubes coming out of him. No breathing apparatus. He smiled at her gently, wearing his glasses- one of the lenses cracked.
"Hey there, kiddo."
Making a strangled noise, Kagome rushed over, leaping upon the bed and throwing her arms around his neck. She wailed, letting out her emotions with full force. He caught her with a chuckle, hugging her gently.
She sobbed, releasing her fear, worry and stress over the past few hours. She was so happy he was alive- but didn't feel ready to say goodbye yet. Mr Higurashi patted her back, "there was a boy," he said quietly.
"H-Huh?"
"When I woke up- a white sheet covered me. It was pulled back by this little boy standing over me," he pulled away, looking at her. "It was the strangest thing, he said; "I've been falling in love with Kagome since the first day we met. Be grateful I leave her with you."
Kagome's eyes widened, drawing back. "He...did?" she croaked.
Mr Higurashi nodded, confusion in his gaze. "Maybe Papa just has a concussion. Felt real though. Does your imaginary friend have-"
"Stripes? A crescent moon on his forehead?"
His mouth clicked shut, nodding. "Either way, I'm immensely grateful. It felt like he had something to do with saving me- his sword was glowing."
Dark brows pulled together. Kagome busied herself with hugging him again, breathing in his scent that was marred by hospital chemicals and the copper tang of blood.
---
'Be grateful I leave her with you.'
Those words ate at Kagome. After returning home, she looked in every little nook and cranny for Sesshoumaru. She pressed her palms against the old storage shed while cloaked in shadow. The wood resisted, not allowing her passage.
Kagome was persistent.
The bike shed proved to be empty, so she searched almost all the floors of the school, calling his name and listening for a reply.
Sesshoumaru couldn't be found; not a trace of him remaining. Nothing except the memory of him inside Kagome's head.
Just like an imaginary friend.
She bothered her Father continuously about it, pestering him to hold onto his own memory of Sesshoumaru- though his seemed to fade with every passing day.
A month later, Kagome put her foot down. Curling her hands into fists, she stormed into the girl's bathroom on the fifth floor. Marching past lonely cubicles, she swiftly turned to the last in a row of seven- kicking it open.
"Sesshoumaru!" she called. "I'm gonna step into this evil bathroom cubicle if you don't come here right now!"
When nothing but the burgeoning youki of the waiting Aka-Manto could be felt, Kagome set her small shoulders. Sparking reiki sputtered to life on her fingers, urging her forwards. She could defend herself, she could-
Different coloured streams of toilet paper lunged for her- ripped apart by a swipe of claws.
Gasping- Kagome felt herself be yanked backwards into another small body, the bathroom door slamming shut before her, blocking out terrible groaning and floating, multicoloured paper.
"What do you think you are doing, foolish girl?"
Blinking, she twisted in his grip- grabbing Sesshoumaru close.
"Gn- what-?"
"Bad! Very bad friend!" Kagome growled, pulling away to glare heatedly. "You can't just disappear on me like that!"
Golden eyes flattened, flicking away. "You wished to stay with your parents. I do not want to continue being friends if it means you will age and I will not. It is..." his young features pinched, "...it makes my chest hurt. I greatly dislike the sensation. It is like an oni hand clenching- squeezing around my heart. I fear I will die if it continues."
Kagome's lips bent up, fighting a smile. He was so dramatic. She then gentled, taking his hand to guide him out of the bathroom. She let go to stand on tip-toe, looking out of the windows.
"...I made a promise," she mumbled. "You saved Papa. Now he and Mama are happy again. Souta, my brother- he was born last week. Papa was able to meet him because of you," Kagome glanced at him. "I know you're secretly a good friend. You weren't gonna come and collect me, were you?"
"I thought it would bring you misery," he grunted, "and that worsens the squeezing in my chest."
Kagome walked over to him, pressing their foreheads together with a sigh. Dark bangs mixed with silver. "I'll come. Just let me visit my parents sometimes."
His eyes brightened from their dull brass colour but remained guarded. He was used to empty promises. 'I'll be back soon' was a frequent one from his parents. Sometimes he awaited their return for weeks within their palace. "You are certain? You will not age like other humans."
She nodded, clasping hands with him and threading their fingers. "You're lonely. I would be the absolute worst if I let my friend be lonely. "
Dulled gold blazed into a firey inferno. Youki flowed from his palm, gathering around their joined hands. Kagome's blue eyes warmed, reiki lightly joining to mix, hiss and blend. Tiny pulses of heat and static ran up their arms, exhilarating for the childish rush.
A promise was kept.
---
Air rushed around yellow dandelions, twining invisible fingers through the stalks and making them playfully sway. Souta kicked his soccer ball, running after it with the nimble energy only a 10-year-old possessed.
Noticing something out of his peripheral vision, he squinted. Elation abruptly burst over his features, and he sprinted for the house.
"Mom, Dad! They're here! They're back again!"
From beneath the shade, two children stepped forward, having barely aged a year. Kagome adjusted the collar of her fine green kimono, blue eyes unnaturally bright- as though having been influenced by the wild, inhuman world.
Sesshoumaru's small hand remained clasped in hers while they exchanged small smiles.
She'd kept her promise during the years.
He'd never be lonely again, and neither would she.

Monster - Chapter 12
chapter index
damn near almost forgot it was Friday... anyway, this one's a little shorter, but necessarily so. I hope you enjoy it, nevertheless! <3
----------
Kagome was in a grouchy mood from the rude awakening she’d received early that morning. She wasn’t outwardly expressing herself, but it was a little too difficult to wipe it clean from her face. And, Shinosuke was too amused by it.
It was a young lady who’d woken she and Inuyasha up, and immediately Kagome knew she was there to change Inuyasha’s bandages. When Kagome had first arrived the night before, a small stain was noticeable, but as she sat up from Inuyasha’s side, the front of his bandages were completely soddened with his blood. He was weak and fatigued, eyes opened from his own awakening but irises dull, and didn’t even have enough energy to really grasp her hand anymore. His breathing was shallow, but he tried to narrow a brave look at her. Still, she froze with fear.
The woman, Wakana, wouldn’t allow Kagome to help and insisted she leave. Though Kagome persistently objected, demanding she needed to stay by his side, again she was torn away by the strong arms of Shinosuke.
“He was okay last night!” She frantically cried as he let her go just outside of Inuyasha’s room.
“And, he’s okay now. I swear. This is normal with blood loss, but he’s part demon. He’s going to be fine.”
“No, but -“
“Kagome, I promise! He’s just fucking exhausted from healing, and the medication from last night has most likely worn off. I’ve seen this on numerous occasions. And, you want to be with him twenty-four-seven, I get it. You want to personally witness his progress, but you can’t. It’s not good for you. Wakana’s right, you shouldn’t see him like this right now. You both need a little space from each other.”
“No, that doesn’t make sense. He would never leave my side if I was hurt like that, and I don’t want to leave his.” Kagome argued, bleary eyed.
“Don’t you get it? If you’re in there, he’s going to be focused on your well-being the entire time. He wont want to rest because he’s going to want to make sure you’re calm. I already saw him trying; I was right there. And, you? You’re going to see the most traumatizing wound you’ve probably ever laid eyes on. Trust me, something like that doesn’t just leave your memory. Especially, when it’s happened to someone significant to you. It’s going to scar you, and each time you look at Inuyasha thereafter, you’ll either see the infliction or you’ll be absolutely terrified it’ll happen again, so you’ll overcompensate to prevent it. You both need to be apart. You got pretty banged up yesterday, too. When was the last time you just focused on yourself?” That last question came off playfully sarcastic, but Kagome couldn’t perceive anything but literalism at the moment.
“I don’t know, like thirteen years ago.” She responded blandly. “I have a little brother.”
“Oh my god.” He deadpanned, blinking. “You need to eat something.”
“No, but -“
“Kagome, come on.” Shinosuke placed his hand in the middle of her back to guide her. “I promise, he’ll be fine. You, on the other hand, need some food.”
“I don’t want food.”
“You’re eating food.”
And, so here she was, porridge and fruit placed on a tray before her as she sat on a rather large bed in a rather large room she hadn’t been in before. Kagome nibbled on a strawberry, feeling the grumpy pout written all over her face, her stomach in shambles, and Shinosuke snickering at her from a chair by the door.
“Are you going to watch me all freaking day?”
“That’s literally my job. So, yes.”
“Go away.” Kagome grumbled, half a strawberry in her mouth.
“No.” He smiled.
The door opened slowly, cautiously, Wakana walking in with a soft smile on her face. She pulled her long, brown hair from the low ponytail it’d been in, allowing the straight, flowing strands to hang freely now around her shoulders. Immediately, Shinosuke respectfully stood, giving a light bow of his head when their eyes met.
“He’s perfectly fine.” She assured Kagome, approaching closer. “The hole’s actually a bit smaller already. I was surprised to see such quick improvement. The wound is lathered in some herbs, he’s wrapped up nice and tight, and I had him sip on an herbal remedy to help alleviate some pain.”
“Can I see him?” Kagome softly asked, lowering the strawberry from her pink-stained lips.
“He’s asleep.” Wakana grimaced slightly.
“Can I - can I see him, anyway?”
“No.” Shinosuke chimed, robbing a grape from her fruit bowl.
Kagome scowled at the audacious guard, flickering her attention back at Wakana. “Why is he like this? I don’t think I like him.”
“I don’t think I do either.” She sighed, elbowing him in the side. “Sorry. I know he’s a pain in the ass, but he’s the head of our guards, and papa was right to have him watch over you. Though, your friend doesn’t appear to care as much as we’d thought he would. He can’t even move and he seems to think he can do better.”
“Oh, you told him?” Kagome asked, wondering when the topic could have come up. Though, she couldn’t deny that the response sounded very organic to Inuyasha’s nature. Processing everything else she’d said, her head cocked to the side in a quick subject change. “Wait, papa?”
Wakana gave a small laugh, smacking Shinosuke’s hand as he reached for another piece of fruit. “It’s like clockwork. I walk in, Inuyasha asks for you. We’ve told him multiple times that you’re being protected, but much like you, he wants to be by your side. And, yes. I’m the headman’s daughter. I asked Shinosuke to bring you to my room. Figured it would be more comfortable for you. I also have some clothes that should fit you.”
“Oh, that’s okay.” Kagome kindly declined, handing Shinosuke the fork she hadn’t been using with a slice of honeydew on the end. She wasn’t a huge fan of that fruit, so he could eat all of those pieces for all she cared. “What happened to my clothes from yesterday?”
Wakana arched a spekulative brow. “Ruined?”
“What do you mean, ruined?”
“You didn’t actually expect that blood to come out, did you?” Shinosuke asked after swallowing his fruit.
“Oh, shit.” Kagome hissed. “I forgot! Crap, that was my last shirt.”
“I might be able to save the bodice, though.” Wakana mentioned, nibbling on her bottom lip.
Kagome’s eyes widened, a small pout returning to her face. “My bodice? What happened to my bodice?”
“The seams split. And - um - so did the back.”
It really shouldn’t have come as a surprise. After rolling around in the dirt to fight a demon, what else could she have expected?
“R-I-P.” Shinosuke satirically said, snagging another honeydew. Kagome pinned him with a threatening glare, one he finally heeded as he recoiled drastically, crossing back over to his chair by the door.
“I’ve got plenty of dresses, love!” Wakana said, trying to lift her spirits. “You’re more than welcome to any!”
“I appreciate that, but what’ll I do when I leave here?”
“Take them with you!”
“No, I couldn’t.” Kagome shook her head. “That’s so sweet of you, but I really couldn’t.”
“I insist.”
“No, honestly. I can’t fight in a dress.”
“Neither can I.” Shinosuke commented, his mouth full.
“Oh my god, get out.” Wakana groaned, rolling her eyes as she scowled at Shinosuke.
“Can’t.” He grinned, pointing to Kagome. “Scout’s honor.”
“Then, quiet.”
“That, I can do.” He agreed, sealing his lips.
“Okay, here’s the thing: The women around here don’t really wear bodices anymore; everything’s sort of built into our dresses, and it’s rare to see a woman in pants around these parts -“
“Barbarians.”
Both women glared at Shinosuke, and abruptly, with a tension of fear, he stood from his seat, opening the door and dragging the chair out with him.
“Anyway,” Wakana groaned, redirecting her gaze back to Kagome now that they were alone. “As I was saying, I can probably make you another, and if not, I can consult the seamstress at the edge of town. Let me brainstorm a little on this, is that okay?”
“I don’t want to be any trouble for you. It’s not a problem. I can -“
“No, don’t worry. I love doing this. It’s the little things in life, right? It’s no trouble at all, and after what you two did for all of us yesterday, it’s a pleasure.”
“Oh. Well, alright. Thank you.” Kagome reluctantly agreed.
“For the meantime, let me replace your bandages and get you out of your pajamas.”
Kagome flexed her hand in their new wrappings, her split knuckle coated in a thick ointment beneath and tingling from the remedy’s properties. The scrape on her head had a light layer smeared on, the bandage poking from her bangs and covering the entire area to keep the ointment in.
She could see the enthusiasm on Wakana’s face as she pulled out a few dresses from the back of her wardrobe. She’d explained that she’d made them herself, but there was something else there. A joy that told Kagome she hadn’t been able to pull them out in a while.
“I’d put my hobbies aside for the past couple of years. Who was I to have lavish taste and ease my worries with distractions such as sewing while my people were in a depression, constantly afraid of the henchmen’s next visit? Not to mention, the healthier you looked - and I mean that in all regards - the worse treatment you’d receive. It was best not to attract more attention, you know? I didn’t want them increasing their inspections. Not when there was -“ She stopped herself, glancing over at Kagome. “Not when I had people to protect. Their fear is our fear. So is their pain. And, sadness. My papa, he does his best for his people, and he stands right with them no matter what.
“Once Moryomaru starting coming around, that was when we all stowed away our irreplaceable belongings. My mother’s ashes, a few knickknacks from ancestors, and things of the likes from the village people were stored here below ground. In fact, they’re being brought up to return to their homes as we speak.” Her happiness was indescribable. It was like Kagome could physically see the weight had lifted off of her shoulders.
“But, wait.” She couldn’t help but ask. “Are you positive we got them all?”
“Actually, yes. I wasn’t there to see it happen, unfortunately. I was here in the courtyard with the women that live in this home. With Shinosuke and the guards. Moryomaru was in the midsts of taunting us when they left for whatever was going on, and I remember being so confused in that moment. But, papa told me everything. Inuyasha singlehandedly took all of the henchmen on. More importantly, you two killed Moryomaru. You killed the henchmen’s commander. Their leader. I’m not sure if that’s the end of all inspections, but the henchmen are like chickens running around without a head without someone to tell them what to do. And, I may have never met Naraku, but I certainly figure he finds himself too superior to ever sully his hands by speaking with low lives such as them. I’m sure inspections are about to slow substantially from this point forward. I can feel it.”
“Okay, hold on.” Kagome spoke, leaning on the frame of the bed as she digested that information, brown eyes unfocused on the carpet. “Moryomaru. That’s that thing’s name? That creature?”
“Yes.” Wakana confirmed.
“They were - they were the commander? Of all the henchmen? They were the one who called all the shots?”
“Ultimately, yes. Moryomaru liked to boast about their leadership, that was for sure, and while they had a chain of command it seemed - with a leader of each platoon - Moryomaru was the top. Forgive me, but did you not know that?”
“No.” Kagome admitted, glancing up at the headman’s daughter.
“Oh.” Her brows furrowed in contemplation. “This may sound presumptuous, but you guys came in so ready to fight, we’d sort of figured you were hunting Moryomaru.”
“Not at all. Before yesterday, we’d never seen Moryomaru. At least, I hadn’t. Not sure about Inuyasha, but he’d never mentioned them before. We were in the area when we sensed the demons, and then we heard some screaming so -“
“So, you came to help…” Wakana finished, astonished.
“Yeah.” Kagome nodded.
“You came to help even though you’re a conjurer…”
“Well, Inuyasha did. I can’t take much credit there; he’d made me agree to stay behind so they wouldn’t know about me.”
“Even so, he ran in even though he’s a hanyou. I can’t believe… You guys - you still ended up fighting too, you cant tell me you got these wounds from hiding, and I - you two are - I can’t believe -“ Wakana couldn’t finish her sentence. She’d been incredibly grateful to these two from the moment her father had brought them back to their home, and she thought incredibly highly of them from the instant she understood the incident. But, to learn the circumstance a little better, to comprehend that there was plenty on the line for them too, but they still contributed their strengths to save them, and ultimately so many more, Wakana was awestruck. Heedlessly, she stepped forward, wrapped her arms around Kagome’s shoulders to hug her tight.
Kagome had tensed at first, but recovered quickly, returning the gesture. At first, her touch was light, cautious, but as Wakana leaned further into her, Kagome firmed her hold on the woman.
“Are you okay?” Kagome asked, slightly confused.
“I’m just so thankful to you two.” She leaned back to say, smiling. “To know it was your decision to help and not a job makes it even more meaningful. I can see it’s kind of hard to wrap your head around, but you haven’t just saved my village and people. You’ve saved so many others, as well.”
“But, their leaders… the second in commands, I suppose -“
“Chickens without a head, girl. Chickens without a head.”
“I’m sorry, I just can’t help but fear that you’re wrong.”
“I understand. I don’t think I’ve seen nearly as much of the world and its cruelty as you and Inuyasha have.” Wakana rubbed Kagome’s arm consolingly. There was a chance that she was wrong. Nothing in this world was certain, especially now, and if Naraku created Moryomaru for this purpose, he could absolutely create another monster to take their place. But, from what Shinosuke had experienced, what he and his father had come back to inform her father of, she wanted to believe that this was the first step in overcoming the evil that clouded their lives. So, maybe hearing it from their guard would help alleviate the worry in Kagome’s frown.
“Shinosuke, come here please!” She shouted over her shoulder.
“Ma’am?” The tall man poked his head in through the large doors a short second later, his brows raised in question.
“In.”
“Ma’am.” He complied, taking the order and shutting the door right behind him.
“Tell Kagome what you know about Moryomaru, please. No jokes. Give her what you’ve learned.”
Shinosuke gave a single nod of his head, regarding the conjurer with his charcoal eyes. “They’re a creation of Naraku, derived from his own vessel. They took leadership of the inspectors, having nearly a thousand men at their beck and call at one point. They’d admitted that as their numbers began suddenly depleting drastically, that was when they’d decided to come forward and monitor more inspections to see where the disruption was coming from. It was more to show that if villagers were beginning an uprising, they were there to scare them back in line.”
“And, Moryomaru’s chain of command?” Wakana requested.
“Useless without Moryomaru. They were too involved, had a need for control, so none of their ‘officers’, so to speak, were allowed to make calls without their issuance. Therefore, without him, the chain breaks.”
“How do you know all this?” Kagome’s question came out quietly, taken aback.
A small grimace appeared on Shinosuke’s face and Wakana’s gaze fell downward. There wasn’t much delay before the guard looked to the woman at Kagome’s side and asked, “May I?”
“Of course.” She nodded.
Shinosuke lifted his shirt high enough to show the abnormally large scar stretching over the outer portion of his ribcage. “A few of us guards were abducted by that fucker a few months ago; myself, my father, and Nobunaga. Said we got too bold in thinking we could protect anybody so they wanted to put us in our place - which would serve as a warning to our other guards.”
Kagome’s jaw had dropped slightly, her eyes widening at the deformed scar. Her breath locked in her lungs from her gasp and it was almost like she couldn’t look away from the sealed wound. She couldn’t believe what she was looking at. It should have been fathomable, given everything she’d witnessed over the years, but she couldn’t believe she was in the presence of someone who’d survived evident torture.
“They were in custody for five weeks.” Wakana added solemnly as Shinosuke lowered his clothing. “We didn’t know if they’d return. But, Shinosuke, being Shinosuke, used the opportunity to memorize everything he’d seen while with them.”
“If I lived, I was going to make sure I told everyone who needed to know everything I saw and heard. Tell me, conjurer. Are you someone who needs to know, or who’s just too curious for their own good?”
Kagome couldn’t fight her hesitation. Her fingers curled into apprehensive fists as her nerves gave a small wring of her stomach. No one knew of their quest. No one knew their true objective, Koga being the one exception on Inuyasha’s side. But, even after finding out Koga was part of the war, she still decided not to disclose her purpose. Koga didn’t know what she was, though. That was a huge part of her reason against telling him. There was something different about the circumstances at play here. She’d swooped in with her arrow, and with Inuyasha’s blast from his sword, they’d synchronously created an insanely powerful attack. They’d unknowingly destroyed a war machine. They’d unknowingly annihilated a part of Naraku. The people here knew what she was whether she confirmed or denied, and they were allies. Why hide anymore?
“Inuyasha and I, our mission is to kill Naraku. We want to find a way to end the darkness we’re living in.” She said, leveling her chin confidently.
“That’s what you’re working toward?” He asked, and it wasn’t a test. There was the hint of concern on his brow.
“Everyday.”
“Well, fuck.” Shinosuke sighed. “Sounds legitimate enough to me.”
He walked closer so his voice wouldn’t carry, stopping just a few feet away from the women. Kagome had stiffened slightly, and he knew exactly why. She was afraid. It was a learned reaction. Right now, she was vulnerable, and as far as she was concerned, alone. No matter how many times she was promised safety, assured coalition, it wasn’t always possible to turn off that part of your brain that braced you for the worst. Because, you were trained to expect it after so long. Especially, being someone in her position.
So, as he stopped, he made sure to slowly outstretch his hand. He held it out for her to take, patiently allowing her to register that he meant no harm - only respect. As Kagome slipped her small palm within his hold, he wrapped his fingers firmly around it, carefully stepping inward, bending forward, and whispering in her ear.
“Naraku has five creations. Excluding Moryomaru, I encountered two. They were named Hakudoshi and Kagura.”
There was a small abatement from the storm. It was a little humid outside, but Kagome just wanted to be absorbed in the scent of rain. Finally accepting that while she was staying at the village’s headman’s home Shinosuke was an accessory to her person, she decided to drag him outside to take a walk with her.
Wakana had been so patient and kind, so Kagome had allowed her to have some fun and dress her the way she so pleased. Having to put it away for quite some time, Kagome could see the freedom on her pink cheeks as she finally got to dive into her creativity again. It made Wakana happy, and after so much tentative care to both she and Inuyasha, Kagome was glad to be the first she expressed her art on again.
Unfortunately, it was a little obvious she hadn’t worn a dress in well over a decade. Let alone, had never once in her life worn a dress quite this nice. Shinosuke had called her out for her incessant fidgeting three times and kept snickering at her whenever she readjusted the cut around her breasts. It was a little lower than anything she was used to, and the low dip had her feeling extremely exposed. She wasn’t. Each time she instinctually went to put her breasts away she had to keep reminding herself that they were exactly where they were meant to be, but it was just weird to feel so much of a breeze.
The sleeves were off the shoulder, fastened to her upper arms by a material that clung. The rest of the sleeves were long and flowy, cut in the middle for her arms to slip out of had she reached for something. Never in her life had Kagome worn such a pretty shade of pastel pink, nor had she experienced little, blush roses made of silk fastened to her bust, nor had she had the opportunity to feel ribbons made of the same, tied in a bow at the center of her sternum. Tiny leaves were sewn into the fabric just beneath her breasts, cinching the dress to her ribs, and the same was said for her waistline, holding the gown to her as the rest of the length of the skirt was free to flow around her entire lower body.
Kagome’s hair was brushed, waving naturally, but tied half up in a twisted bun that was held in place by pins unseen. Her bangs were in tidy order for the first time in weeks, and Wakana was meticulous to pull the strands that framed her jawline free from the bun. She’d asked to put a subtle hint of glitter on Kagome’s cheeks, and considering it was a huge day of firsts for her, Kagome could only bring herself to shrug in a huge, why the hell not?
Truthfully, the doting makeover was fun for Kagome, too. While she felt more comfortable in pants and a shirt, it was only because it was what she was used to, and functionality called for it. She actually really loved dresses. The look of them, at least. With it being years since she’d even considered wearing one, she wondered so often if she could even pull them off. And, when she finally got a look at herself in the mirror once Wakana had finished, pride gleaming in the woman’s eyes, Kagome couldn’t help but grow incredibly shy. She loved the way it looked on her, but it was so different.
“Tell me you’re not girly without telling me you’re not girly.” Shinosuke jabbed, chuckling at her side as they strolled around the outer pathway of the mansion.
“Hush.” Kagome sighed. “I think I was eight the last time I wore a dress.”
“They’re not going anywhere.” He remarked, regarding the way she kept fixing the bust of her dress. “Believe me, there are women in town with bigger breasts than you that do manual labor in dresses made of thinner material, and they’ll proudly tell you that their tits stay in place.”
Another sigh as she dropped her hands to her side. “I’m just not used to it.”
“I thought you liked it.”
“No, I do. It’s pretty.” Kagome assured, looking up at him and nodding. “I’m just - I mean, like I said, I’m - I’m not used to it.”
“Ah, I get it.” Shinosuke smirked, looking ahead of them. “You’re self conscious.”
She didn’t say anything. She merely looked at the thriving plants to her right, minding how the petals of flowers were still dotted with droplets of rain. The sky was still blanketed in dark clouds, conveying that the storm had yet to fully pass, and the air was thick with the comforting smell of moisture.
“May I compliment you?” He respectfully asked.
Kagome glanced up at him again, curious. “Not if you feel obligated.”
“I just want to make sure I won’t make you uncomfortable.”
“Oh. I appreciate that.” She really did. She understood that he was simply trying to make her feel more secure with his honest thoughts while not trying to offset her by making it seem he was overstepping any boundaries. Not many men had that courtesy. “Sure.”
Shinosuke stopped, turning to the woman at his side. It was interesting to him to see such a strong female who’d participated in taking down a plague to their society seem so small and timid in such a superficial environment. Maybe she was the sort who didn’t realize her beauty. Maybe she was the sort that didn’t really focus on that sort of thing, and this element - delicate femininity - was abnormal to her. Given such, it was irrelevant. Anyone with eyes could see that even when she ran into the courtyard yesterday along her battered companion, covered in scratches, dirt, blood, and fear she was inherently beautiful. Now, cleaned, bandaged, still slightly guarded but overall level, Kagome was enchanting. And, he could easily tell that that was what Wakana was trying to enhance.
It wasn’t that she was merely letting loose and having fun. Wakana was specific to adhere to the minds of others, as well as their hearts. She’d wanted to distract Kagome from her partner’s condition. She’d wanted to make her feel a little better about herself while she knew things, in general, felt off to not have Inuyasha beside her. Sometimes, it was the little things that brought a smile to appear. A genuine smile.
Kagome was brave, fierce, and selfless. That, alone, was gorgeous. And, Wakana was trying to bring that inward appearance outward so Kagome could see the exact way she was looking at her.
Shinosuke took a moment. He noticed the small hint of pink on her cheeks, the way she’d nervously been pinching her lips together since the moment they’d stepped outside - which had inadvertently created a nice, rosy hue, the way her hair was waving just a little bit more than before due to the slight humidity. He smiled softly, tilting his head to the side.
“I think you’re beautiful. I think you worry too much, and that if you just stood up a little straighter, held your head up a little higher, and allowed yourself to step out of your comfort zone, you’d own your radiance. I think you could stop men in their tracks, and I think it’d be cute to see how confused you are when it happens, because you seem just air-headed enough not to understand what sort of affect you have on people. Even looking as worn out as you did yesterday, you were pretty. Right now, you’re - Kagome, you’re beautiful.”
He’d said it directly, compassionately, kindly. It wasn’t from a place that would make her stiffen with shyness, but a place that made her smile from genuine benevolence.
“Thank you.” She said. “You’re pretty, too.”
Shinosuke laughed, patting Kagome’s head and redirecting her to walk along the path through the courtyard.
At the very edge, before the entrance from town and just before Shinosuke turned her around, a little girl with her brother ran up, hand-in-hand. A soft rumble of thunder struck in the distance, and the smell of rain had become just a little heavier in the passing minutes. Yet, the children seemed untroubled by the threat, staring wide-eyed at Kagome.
“Mayu, no. Go home.” Shinosuke quickly said as she opened her mouth. “Not right now.”
“But -“ The little girl quickly went to argue, but her brother was already trying to tug her away. He seemed unwelcoming, protective, and the one that liked to steer a little more on the careful side.
“Has anything I’ve ever said been negotiable?” Shinosuke asked in a firm tone.
“No, but -“
“Then, go home. Your mother probably doesn’t even know you’re out here, am I right?”
“Yes.” Satoru claimed with contempt. “Mayu didn’t want to listen to me and decided to sneak out while mom was napping. So, I came with her. Sorry, Shinosuke. We’re leaving.”
“No, I need to talk to her.” Mayu tried again a little louder, stomping her foot for added effect.
“Not right now, you don’t. Satoru, is your mother unwell again?”
“Yes. Unfortunately.” The identical boy answered.
“Mayu, come on.” Shinosuke bargained, kneeling down before the two children. “Please, don’t stress her out further right now. Wait for the storm to pass, at least. You know how much your mom worries about you. You need to give people time to adjust and recover. You aren’t the only person to consider here.”
Kagome could see the little girl fighting herself. Her dark eyes bounced from Shinosuke to her and then back to the guard, nostrils flaring at her frustrated huff.
“Be patient. Now’s not the time to be selfish. Go home.”
“Fine.” She grumbled, and then darted a glare toward Kagome, catching her completely off guard. “But, I’ll be back!”
Shinosuke stood, returning to Kagome’s side as the two children ran off down the street, taking an alley corner.
“Why - why did I feel like that was a threat?” Kagome warily asked.
“Eh, she’s harmless. Mayu’s rough around the edges, for sure, but she’s a good kid. Satoru’s the one you should watch. He used to be this timid boy a couple of years ago, barely spoke, hid behind his twin sister, the works, but then one day he just switched. Mayu comes off tough, but her brother’s the one that’ll actually scare you. Believe me.” He said, placing his hand at her mid back to turn her around to head back through the courtyard garden.
“Well, what was it she wanted to talk to me about? It seemed urgent.”
“It’s not. She’s just pushy. I can guarantee she’ll be back, hopefully at a more appropriate time, and she’ll be able to bug you then. If you’re okay with that, of course. If not, tell me now. I’ll be able to keep her at bay.”
“Why wouldn’t I be okay with that?”
“Because, you’re a conjurer. And, she’s going to bring that up.”
“Ah, that’s right. She asked me yesterday, but the headman stopped her.”
“I know it’s a touchy subject. She’s going to be a ten year old, and she’s not going to understand boundaries.”
Kagome pressed her lips together again, grazing her fingers over the large leaves that waited for their next dosage of moisture as they strolled along.
“Thing about her is, she keeps secrets better than any adult I’ve ever met. So, if you’d like to see what she has to ask you but you’re worried about you’re answers getting out, don’t be. Mayu would take it to the grave. And, Satoru - because they come in a pair - barely speaks to begin with, and his loyalty lies with his twin. If she’s keeping a secret, so is he.” Shinosuke added, carefully maneuvering Kagome around a puddle.
“It’s alright.” She spoke softly, smiling. “I don’t mind. I’ll talk with her next -“
“There you are!” Wakana cheerfully greeted from over the second story bannister, overlooking the courtyard. “I’ve been looking for you two.”
“What’s up?” Shinosuke asked.
“Inuyasha’s awake. Kagome, would you like to see him?”
Kagome’s heart gave a heavy thump in her chest, and her skin ignited in an excited eruption of warmth. With an anxious breath, she nodded eagerly, rushing the rest of the way toward the main house where Wakana agreed to meet them on the first floor.
“Here’s the thing: he’s a little grumpy at the moment. Not very talkative, speaks with more grunts than words, seems perpetually upset but won’t admit he’s in any pain when we ask…” Wakana mentioned as she guided them through the corridors.
“That’s actually normal.” Kagome replied, pursing her lips.
“Is it?”
“Oh, yeah.” She remarked, nodding. “Inuyasha’s not known for his compassion, I’ll tell you that. He likes to handle things on his own, so I’d say, if he’s not wincing or yelling at you, he’s fine.”
“Oh, okay. Well, in that case, he’s pretty lively. He’s sitting up with minimal problem, but he’s been asking for you. I told him to eat and we’d go and find you after, but he refused. Said he didn’t want food. Or medicine. He really should have something in his stomach before his next dose - given he stops declining it. Maybe you could convince him to try and eat?” Wakana inquired, turning to look at Kagome while they walked as she was a few steps behind.
“He doesn’t listen to me.” Kagome objected with a modest shake of her head.
Both Wakana and Shinosuke shot surprised looks at her, and Kagome felt herself go on cautious alert, almost freezing.
“You’re kidding.”
“No?” She replied, confused. “Inuyasha never listens to me.” Kagome reiterated.
“I’m sorry, I sort of thought you two were on a… how do I put it? I sort of thought you two were on a level where you take each other’s advice.”
“Oh, Inuyasha’s stubbornness puts mine to shame. He doesn’t like to be told what to do. All it does is make him want to do the exact opposite. And, if I give him advice, he just thinks it’s nagging.”
“Wait, hold on, hold on. Pause.” Shinosuke said, stopping in the middle of the hall with a hand held out to halt her. Kagome’s wide eyes landed on him, lips parted in question. “What are you two?”
There was hesitation, dubiety, as Kagome did a gentle sway from side to side before finally speaking again. “What - uh - what do you mean?”
“Like, what are you and Inuyasha?”
Kagome glanced back and forth from Shinosuke to Wakana, noticing the same question was written all over Wakana’s face. “I - I don’t -“
“You know exactly what I’m asking.”
“I - uh - we are… friends.”
“Uh-huh, why did that sound like a question?” Shinosuke interrogated, crossing his arms over his chest while he arched a brow, smirking now.
“I-it wasn’t. It wasn’t.” She ended up saying with more confidence the second time. “We’re friends.”
“You’re friends?”
“We’re friends.” Kagome couldn’t help the nervous smile she’d cracked that time. She bit the inside of her lip, her swaying growing more obvious to speak of her discomfort and uncertainty. And, she cursed herself for that as she fiddled with the long sleeves of her borrowed dress.
“Are you sure?”
“We’re friends. We’re friends. We’re friends.” Kagome repeated awkwardly, nodding as she looked back and forth between the two. “We’re friends.”
“Say it one more time, you might just convince yourself.” Shinosuke remarked, chuckling.
“We’re -“ Kagome caught herself, pinching her lips together as she deflated slightly.
“I’m so sorry,” Wakana started, grimacing. “I thought you two might have been in a relationship. We all did.”
“Everyone thinks that?” Kagome apprehensively asked.
“Could you blame us?” Shinosuke spoke, amused. “I don’t know friends who sleep that close to each other. Not the way we found you two.”
“Well, maybe you should try it.” Kagome feigned attitude, pursing her lips. “It’s comforting.”
“Mhm, I know. I sleep like that with Wakana.” He sassed right back.
Kagome’s attention snapped Wakana’s way just in time to watch her roll her eyes.
“We’re engaged.” She said.
“Oh,” Kagome nodded. “Well, that makes sense.”
“Doesn’t it?” Shinosuke pressed, laughing as he caught Kagome in her own shock.
She’d opened her mouth to speak, to say anything in defense, but nothing came out. She was flustered and confused.
“It’s okay not to know.” He chuckled, patting her head again. “But, I gotta tell you, you’re not just friends.”
An overwhelming sense of bashfulness washed over Kagome then. Her face went hot and she ducked it. She couldn’t remember a time she’d blushed so horribly, and as she gazed down at the floor, she caught how red her chest even appeared at the bottom of her eyes. Her feelings were obvious. By now, she got that. Being called on it didn’t change how humiliating it was, and it only increased her confusion.
Shinosuke placed his hands on her shoulders, guiding her to walk down the hall while she couldn’t help but continue to hide her embarrassment. She and Inuyasha were friends. That wasn’t a lie. But, she couldn’t speak for his feelings. If anyone were to ask her how he felt about her, the only things she was certain about were his undeniable protectiveness, his caring nature whenever she wasn’t feeling well or they were alone, and that she annoyed the absolute hell out of him. If Shinosuke and Wakana were to have asked Kagome for her individual feelings for Inuyasha though, her answer would have been different. And, much more rattled. Because, she cared about Inuyasha now more than she cared even for herself. She appreciated the hanyou more than the water she drank or the food she ate. She had an attachment to him she never wanted to think about giving up. And, after witnessing his brutal injury yesterday, seeing blood stain his body, having to catch him as he fell, she dreadfully feared losing him in more ways than one. She felt it all so deeply. To the point where she couldn’t sleep last night unless she was touching him. To the point where he was on her mind constantly in their mandatory separation. To the point where the closer they got to his quarters, the more unnerved and stable she felt herself becoming - like a walking case of contradiction.
But, the moment the door was open, and Wakana walked in ahead of them to greet whatever staff was alongside the hanyou, and Shinosuke released her shoulders to enter in before him, and the moment her brown eyes found Inuyasha sitting on his futon, lower body covered by the blanket, back leaning against the wall, and torso heavily bandaged, all of those thoughts faded away. They were insignificant and superficial. They didn’t match up to the way he sat up a little taller at her appearance, bringing a small cringe of pain from his lips. They didn’t equate to the way she watched the breath leave his inflated chest, and how his golden eyes stayed on her as she hurried across the room to him. They didn’t matter in the face of how much she just needed to be right next to him at that very instant, and those thoughts that had her feeling scared had vanished completely. Maybe it was momentarily, but that was inconsequential. Because, she was just inches from his arm now, she could smell his clean scent, and she could feel the body heat that reached her like a hand that pulled her in.
Inuyasha had finally caught her scent again. It was something he hated about stormy weather. Rain clouded his olfactory system, and if something or someone wasn’t close by, he’d never be able to tell where they were. It was different to sleep without her aroma near him, and he was sure that if it weren’t for whatever drugs they kept putting in his body, he’d have never drifted off in the first place. The moment he regained consciousness not too long ago, noticing women by his side that weren’t Kagome, cleaning his wounds, changing his wrappings, he felt out of sorts. All he could think about was her, worry about was her. Who were these women? Where was Kagome? She’d been hurt the day before. Was she being taken care of? He vaguely remembered a woman telling him Kagome was being carefully protected for his own peace of mind the last time he was awake, but that was no fucking comfort whatsoever. He didn’t trust anyone with her, let alone someone he had never fucking met, himself.
The moment her calming scent, subtle and light, found its way into his sensitive nose, Inuyasha was on alert, watching the door to his room and ignoring the staff that had been left with him. They were trying to get him to take medicine, trying to get him to lay back down if he wasn’t going to eat so they could put a cooling rag on his head for his splitting migraine, but it was as if they weren’t even there anymore the second he sensed Kagome coming. Then, she entered, and even coherent thought ceased to exist.
That dress. That dress adorning her fair skin. It was both cruel to him and enticing. It complimented her figure, it flowed around her legs, it belonged to her body and should never be replaced. Kagome sped across the floor to rejoin him at his side, cutting off his clear view, and he found himself dissatisfied. He wasn’t done. She couldn’t enter a room like a goddess here to grace his presence and not give him ample timing to properly memorize the image.
Still, be that as it may, his gaze followed her. It wasn’t an order his brain gave to his eyes and head as she sat by his damaged arm, anxious and relieved. Inuyasha legitimately couldn’t take his eyes off of her. If he had that sort of control, if he did himself the injustice by looking away before he was ready, he would have cursed himself for days to come. If he couldn’t take her all in, he was going to take in as much as he could.
He was breathless, dazed, but in his right mind. Kagome had him captivated. She walked in and her smile reached his soul. All at once, he was stunned and comforted. And, he was grateful.
She’d asked him if he was okay. He hadn’t heard her words, spoken so lightly, but he’d watched her lips move. With his left hand, Inuyasha reached across to her, his finger gently rubbing just beneath her chin as he nodded. He was going to speak, but his amber irises fell to her shoulders, the skin he’d yet to be fortunate enough to really see until now. Small, brown and tan freckles dotted her shoulder. There weren’t an abundance, but there were just enough to steal his focus. With everything in him, he wanted to kiss each and every one, and with everything in him, he reminded himself that it was the wrong place at the wrong time.
“This arm,” Kagome mentioned, looking down at the bandaged shoulder and bicep. “You can’t really move it, can you? I should switch to the other side.”
She glanced to the woman that occupied his left, about to ask if she’d mind switching with her before Inuyasha finally spoke.
Now was his chance. The golden opportunity. “No, it’s - it’d be better if you sat in front of me. My neck’s stiff, so turning it sucks right now.” He fibbed.
“Oh, okay.” She obliged with a nod, scooting herself to sit by his thigh. Her back was now turned to the entrance, fully facing her companion as she gently leaned against his leg. “Is this okay?”
“Yeah. Better.” Now he could get a perfect look at her.
Kagome was trying not to concentrate on his torso, on the wrappings that dressed his bare core. It would only increase her obvious concern, and it wasn’t something she wanted to immediately bother Inuyasha with. Instead, she occupied her sights with anything else; his fingers that rubbed against the blanket covering him, his soft gaze on her, his long hair that wasn’t held captive in a high ponytail like she was so used to, then the tray of food at his side.
“You haven’t eaten, have you?” Though she knew the answer already, she figured it was respectful to allow him to speak for himself.
Inuyasha looked down to his untouched food, the bowl of fruit, the bread, the meat, the rice. He couldn’t think about eating before when all that occupied his mind was Kagome. He needed to know she was okay before he even considered taking a bite.
“No.” He lightly replied.
“Did you eat this morning?”
He shook his head.
“That means the last time you ate was yesterday morning, Inuyasha.” She gently reminded, her brow curved in concern. “Do you not have an appetite, or -“
“Have you eaten?” Inuyasha interrupted, eyeing her.
He noticed the way the hollow of her throat emphasized with her inhale as her lips sealed for a second, her shoulders tensing the slightest bit. She was quick to relax, her fingers playing with the loose skirt of her dress. “Yeah, I ate not too long ago.”
“Did you?” He questioned skeptically.
“I did.” Kagome nodded.
The hanyou looked over to the tall guard at the far end of the room, standing next to the woman he’d seen more often than Kagome in the last twenty-four hours. “You the one who’s watching her?”
“I am.”
“What’s your name?”
“Shinosuke.”
“Has she eaten? She tends to not be able to stomach much when she’s uncomfortable or anxious.”
Kagome stiffened at the correct observation. She hadn’t realized Inuyasha paid attention to the mundane details of her characteristics, especially well enough to be able to relay it to others. That was something she didn’t much talk about, nor necessarily know when or how to bring up. So, she’d eat a little when food was placed before her to curb worry, but when her stomach told her to stop, she’d heed the warning.
Shinosuke fought his smug grin, watching the conjurer slowly duck her head. Though he couldn’t see her face from where he stood, he knew - just fucking knew - she was blushing again. Yeah, okay. They’re friends, alright.
“She had some fruit a couple of hours ago. Didn’t eat it all.”
“Just fruit?” Inuyasha’s attention shifted back to Kagome.
“More than you’ve eaten.” She remarked.
He chuckled lightly. She had him there. “I’ll share with you. I’m not that hungry, either.”
“We can go get her her own plate. It’s no trouble at all.” The housemaid on his left said, but Inuyasha shook his head.
“We’ll share. It’s fine.” It was his own way of protecting her from feeling obligated to eat more than she could handle out of sheer courtesy.
Kagome looked at the food as he placed the tray on his lap. The heavier stuff was incredibly unappealing. It looked like it tasted great, but the thought of eating it had her tummy turning upside down. In silent communication to her partner, she glanced from the meal to the hanyou, sucking in her bottom lip nervously.
Inuyasha understood what she was conveying. She really couldn’t eat too much right now. “You like strawberries, right?”
“Mhm.” She hummed, her tone small.
“Here.” Inuyasha picked the strawberries out of his bowl, putting them in the corner of the tray nearest her.
“But -“
“I don’t like them.” He lied. Inuyasha knew she was about to reject, not wanting to take the option of something sweet from him that he may enjoy, but he really didn’t care. He wanted her to eat, and if she liked them, she could have them all.
Both Shinosuke and Wakana had pressed their lips firmly together to hide their grins, giving each other little side glances as their surprise continued to escalate. Their hanyou guest was now eating, something Wakana couldn’t get him to do no matter how much she'd tried. How did Kagome question anything? How did she not see what everyone else could see? It was innocent and adorable, and a crime to interrupt.
“Ladies, let’s give them some space.” Wakana suggested, clapping her hands together once. “There’s no need for us to be here right now.”
The few staff in the room bowed slightly in compliance and rose to leave, the patter from their feet heard as they trailed toward the door.
“I’ll be back in a little while to give you some medicine. If you need anything in the meantime, we’ll be down the hall.”
Finally, they were left alone. Inuyasha felt the tension in his shoulders relax a little. Having eyes on him all the time was stressful and he fucking hated it. While he knew they were merely being kind and doing their jobs, it was still something he’d never grow accustomed to. More than that, Kagome was right where she belonged. No one was taking her away, no one was disrupting their time for the moment, and no one was playing bodyguard to the person he was supposed to protect.
“I need you to eat a little bit more than fruit, Kagome.” He tried, tearing off a chunk of his bread for her. “This or rice.”
“Tear that piece in half and you’ve got a deal.” She wagered.
“Nope.” He chuckled again, giving a minor wince from the pain it brought his abdomen. He recovered, hoping she hadn’t seen, but it was Kagome. Of course, she’d noticed. Her brown eyes were large with worry, a frown appearing, and she sat up a little straighter in preparation to help in any way she could had he needed any. “I’m fine.” Inuyasha assured.
She didn’t speak, sights drifting down to his bandaging. It was like she was waiting for blood to reappear.
“Hey,” The hanyou reached forward, taking her chin in his fingers and bringing her attention back up to his face. “Stop it. I’m okay. Eat the bread.”
“Your arm -“
“I can move it.” He mentioned, releasing her and giving her the chunk he’d torn off. “I just cant reach up or anything. Not yet. Give it another day or two.”
Not wanting to upset him right now, she decided not to argue or fight him on eating. If all he was requesting was for her to eat a few pieces of strawberries and a small chunk of bread, she could handle that.
He’d eaten as much as he could too, and as soon as they were finished, he placed the tray off to his side, leaving it there to be forgotten. Inuyasha went right back to taking the conjurer in, allowing the image of her in that dress to burn into the forefront of his mind. That soft shade of pink complimented her so well, especially when her face tinted just a bit darker. The glitter on her cheeks was a nice touch, but her hair dressed half up the way it was suited her so fucking well. It was cute. She was gorgeous. He was awestruck.
Kagome had caught him looking, quickly growing shy. Remembering the lower cut of her bust, Kagome covered the cleavage that showed, desperately not wanting to make him uncomfortable right now. “Sorry.”
“No, it’s okay.” Inuyasha was swift to assure, reaching for her wrist and pulling it away. “Go back to how you were.”
Her skin was warm, and as her hand landed on her thigh, his own wandered down, playing with the fabric over it.
“Do you like it?” She asked curiously.
“Don’t make me answer that.” He tried not to let his tone convey how imperative it was that she didn’t push him in that direction. Inuyasha would lose his composure. He was already riding a fine line, but if he said yes, he’d feel compelled to further admit just how dangerous it was for him to be so near her while she looked like this. His heart wasn’t fairing well as it was. He wasn’t sure he could handle voicing that on top of it.
Kagome couldn’t help but grow increasingly nervous. He seemed hardened, maybe a little put off. Even though his fingers were continuously playing with the length of her dress, skimming her thigh over and over, she couldn’t help but worry with that answer that the clothing didn’t suit her as well as she’d thought.
“Do you hate it?” She unintentionally asked, her voice carrying smaller.
Amber eyes shot up to hers, then drifted down over the curve of her body. He hadn’t meant to come off any sort of negative way, though he understood how it’d happened. Hate. It was laughable to imagine that, given his current state of mind. If she had a way in, she’d understand that hate was far from what he actually felt.
“No. Not at all.” Inuyasha answered, sucking in a breath to keep himself grounded. Her scent was heavy and soothing, and as he found himself staring at her plush lips, he realized that the strawberry tint had him wanting to kiss her now more than any other time he’d considered it. Unfortunately, he couldn’t even blame the medicine for the thoughts that wouldn’t quiet this time. In an attempt to silence them anyway, he continued to speak. “Where did this come from?”
“Wakana. She likes to make dresses.” Kagome answered, a smile curving her lips upward.
“Is she the lady that woke us up this morning?”
“Yeah, that’s her. She’s the headman’s daughter.”
“Oh, that’s right. I vaguely remember her mentioning that, but I was fucking out of it when she did.”
“She’s super nice. Unfortunately, my clothes didn’t survive, so I’m stuck borrowing some until we figure something out. She mentioned making me something, but it might be easier for everyone if we just head to a shop.” She said, fighting her instinct to adjust her dress again.
“Did your bodice make it?” Inuyasha smirked teasingly. As he watched a dramatic pout form on her lips, he really had to put effort into not laughing. The motion would only hurt him, and he wasn’t sure she needed that right now - though she’d have to deal with the amused expression he couldn’t hide.
“It tore.” Kagome whined.
“Called it.”
“Shut up.” She gave a light smack on his thigh, her pout remaining.
It wasn’t like he hadn’t noticed the bandage on her head, or the one on her knuckles, and it was impossible to ignore the scrape he’d gotten a peek at on the back of her shoulder and the redness that didn’t belong on her cheekbone. It just wasn’t something he wanted to talk about first. Now that they were in the realm of the subject, Inuyasha grabbed her hand, pulling her to lean closer to him so he could push her bangs out of the way. No blood seeped through the bandage, so at least he knew it wasn’t bad. Still, his memory of her condition was extremely foggy.
He hadn’t forgotten the horrible amount of blood staining her stomach and arm, though. How could he? That, unfortunately, stayed with him even while he was unconscious. Without warning, Inuyasha’s palm found her waist and he pressed against it gently, feeling for wrappings he was worried she would lie about. When he felt nothing, his hand continued to travel over the general area he’d remembered the blood being in. If she winced, he’d feel awful but at least he’d know she was wounded and couldn’t keep it from him.
“What are you doing?” Kagome asked, concerned. Inuyasha didn’t answer, but his earlier amusement had gradually vanished, shifting to something pressing and off. His jaw was clenched, but instead of the furrowed look of his brow she’d grown used to, it was curved upward in distress.
The only flinch she’d made was when he pinched around her ribs, and he knew he’d only tickled her; it wasn’t one of pain. Still, he searched, breaking from her abdomen momentarily to pull her right arm out of the part in the loose sleeve, looking for signs of wounds. The flesh wasn’t broken at all along her forearm, but still she’d been covered in blood. She’d said it wasn’t hers, but there was so much. There was so fucking much. It was like he was realizing his worst fear, and all that flashed through his mind was how that green shirt clung to her stomach wherever the crimson had soaked.
“Were you hurt? What happened, Kagome?” He finally asked, once more touching her waist to feel if he’d missed something.
“I’m fine.” She’d stated, almost unsure. But, then it clicked. She understood what he was looking for. “No, no. That blood wasn’t mine. I was attacked by a demon, but that was his blood. I swear.”
“Kagome, how the fuck…” It wasn’t that he was exasperated. It was that he desperately needed to know. He’d agitated his nerves just now, and all he could think about was her hurt, mortally wounded while he couldn’t get to her.
“Do you want to see? Would that help? There’s nothing there, I promise.”
“Show me.” The hanyou hastily agreed.
She was quick to oblige, reaching for a clean towel off to the side. Skillfully, she shoved it beneath her dress to blanket the upper portion of her thighs, covering up what didn’t need to be seen as she then pulled the skirt up to expose her tummy. Kagome allowed him to look as long as he needed, to feel the skin of her abdomen, to reach around to her back and feel for any bandages or wounds - the both of them ignoring his grunt and wince as he leaned forward for better reach.
“It wasn’t mine.” Kagome swore again, lowering her garment as he sat back against the wall. She discarded the towel and breathed out, ready to relay the events that had unfolded. “The demon came out of nowhere, and grabbed me from behind. My arrows spilled everywhere, so it turned into a head-on fight. I got him pretty good.” She smirked with the hint of pride, raising her right hand as she looked down at her bandaging.
Inuyasha tenderly took her fingers, bringing it closer to him. Her knuckles were wrapped tight, and to his dismay, there was the slightest hint of pink poking through the off-white wrappings. He didn’t release her hand. He didn’t want to. He lightly stroked his thumb over her wound, lowering it to his thigh to hold there as he glanced back at her to get the rest of the story.
“The blood came from me stabbing him. He was on top of me so I used my dagger to get him in the side.”
“With purification?” He inquired.
“Of course.” Kagome answered.
“So, he’s dead?”
The memory of the demon’s body collapsing on top of her lit up in her mind, and her throat tightened. Swallowing thickly to try and subdue the discomfort, to try and keep it all from view so Inuyasha didn’t have that to add to his list of worries as well, Kagome took in a breath and nodded. “Yes. He’s dead.”
The hanyou let that information sink in, remaining quiet as he now held her hand with the both of his. His thumbs played over the bandaging, calloused skin scratching on the cloth’s surface, but when it skimmed down to her soft flesh, he felt a small sense of peace spread over him. So, he kept up that action, over and over rubbing his thumbs across her knuckles and toward the uncovered skin, then back. She took care of herself, just like she’d proved she could. Just like he knew she could. He would have felt better ripping that fucker to shreds, though. He’d said it before and he’ll say it as many times as necessary: no one touches Kagome.
Still, he was extremely proud of her. She held her own and then appeared in the nick of time to help his ass out. What a fucking woman.
“In that case, you look pretty good for someone who went toe-to-toe with a demon.” He lightly chuckled.
“Thank you.” She playfully grinned, raising her shoulders in feigned smugness. “I had to show him who was boss.”
“Honestly, I’m starting to think you could actually kick my ass.”
“Nah, that guy was just cocky and talked too much. I used all of that against him, pinned him down, and punched him in the face.”
“You punched him in the face?” He laughed, regretting it but that time he was able to properly hide his discomfort.
“Yes!” Kagome tightened the fingers he held. “He had sharp teeth, so it cut my knuckle, that jerk. But, I still got him.”
She was fucking cute as all hell as she raised her left arm and flexed her bicep, the slit in the long sleeves opening to fall away so he could see the definition. It brought the biggest smile to Inuyasha’s face. She really was okay. She was perfect.
“So, I take it you saw?” Inuyasha had to ask, his grin dwindling to a small, careful one. He found himself needing to know what was going through her mind. Why was she so anxious? Sure, it was unpleasant to be separated while he was wounded; he could see himself physically throwing people off of him that tried to keep him away from her had their positions been swapped. But, he remembered the way she looked when she came in last night. He vividly remembered her visible fear, the frown, but worst of all, there was a vague remembrance of her expression this morning. When Wakana woke them up and Kagome noticed his stomach. The way she’d stopped breathing and looked damn close to panicking. Of course, she’d seen the extent of his damage. He’d hoped she hadn’t seen it uncovered. But, had she seen it take place? “Moryomaru, when he… Did you?”
Her own smile faded then, and after a deep breath, she scooted herself a little closer to his torso, careful of how she leaned on his hip. She took one of his hands then, placing it in her lap as she busied herself, running her fingers over the lines of his palm. Brown eyes could no longer meet amber, instead staring down at the trail she left over his skin. It had been impossible to get that image out of her mind. Kagome knew it was something that, much like Shinosuke had mentioned, would stick with her forever. The only reason it wasn’t crippling her was because she knew Inuyasha was alive, and his condition was only improving.
“Yeah,” She breathed. “I saw.”
“Ah, fuck.” Inuyasha groaned. “I was really fucking hoping you hadn’t since you were busy fighting someone.”
“Our fight ended just before.”
“Kid, I’m sorry.”
“What?” Her gaze shot up to his, her upper lip curled in question. “For what?”
“If I had seen that happen to you, I would have lost my mind. I can only imagine what you felt watching that. I didn’t mean to make you worry. Fuck, that’s why you haven’t been eating, isn’t it?”
She softened, allowing her fingers to trail over the veins of his forearm for a moment. When her nail gently skimmed the thin skin of his inner elbow, she noticed a small twitch from him. A tickle spot.
“No, that’s not it.” Kagome admitted, the corners of her lips very subtly raising. “Well, I guess it’s a contribution, but really it’s because I miss you. I should be right next to you so I know you’re okay every second of the day, but I can’t be and I don’t like that. I don’t feel content not hearing you call me an idiot or kid or something mean because you’re unconscious, and not being able to help in any way doesn’t sit right with me. But, I also understand that they’re right to pull me away. You need to rest. And, you wouldn’t with me here.”
She was breaking him. He could feel any remaining borders between them beginning to shatter like glass with each statement she spoke. Her sincerity was his welcomed demise. The power Kagome had over him with her honesty was so much more incredible than Inuyasha could have ever imagined, and his heart climbed into his throat. How did she say that all so easily? How did she brighten even the worst of his days? She missed him.
Just as he opened his mouth to speak, he caught the sound of walking approaching. Inuyasha outwardly cursed, knowing that it was Wakana coming to force his next dose down his throat and Kagome’s temporary guard coming to take her away. With the remaining seconds he had, he looked back to the conjurer, bringing her right hand to his lips as he kissed her damaged knuckle just before releasing her.
“Sneak back over tonight.”
Kagome’s heart gave a heavy thump inside of her ribcage, damn near bruising the bones in its excitement. With a nervous agreement, Kagome nodded, trying to keep composure as even she caught the footsteps and comprehended his reaction.
The door slid open and in walked Wakana, the housemaid Kagome had threatened the day before, and Shinosuke with his notorious smirk. The housemaid remained by the wall, visibly uncomfortable as she refused to make eye contact with either she or Inuyasha. With a grimace, Kagome’s attention flew over to her companion, silently communicating with an awkward but amused expression that she knew exactly what the girl’s stiffness was about.
Inuyasha read her well. He’d remembered her mentioning she’d almost fought someone to stay with him, and given the housemaids opposition to near either, and Kagome’s humored but ashamed smile, along with the way her eyes flickered between the woman and he, he put two-and-two together. With as much effort he could muster, he tried - really tried - to fight back his laughter. For the sake of the housemaid’s dignity, Kagome’s embarrassment, and his sore abdomen. Still, a small snort left his nose, and he ducked his head to the side to try and further stifle it.
“Matsu, would you mind brewing the tea? Remember, three dashes this time.” Wakana spoke, putting her aid to work. The woman gave a feeble nod, immediately doing as requested but still keeping her head low.
“That woman’s fine whenever you’re not around.” Inuyasha whispered to Kagome, giving a small tug to a section of her free length of hair. Another amused but embarrassed grimace came from her in response as she covered her grin with her hand so that Matsu wouldn’t see how funny this was to her. “You fucking troublemaker.”
“Ready to go?” Shinosuke asked from the doorway.
Kagome peered at him from over her shoulder, curling her upper lip in disdain before turning back to Inuyasha.
“I’ll see you later.”
“Wait.” He ordered quietly just as she began to stand, wagging his finger so she’d lean in closer. As she did, her brows arched in curiosity, he asked, “This guy, is he trustworthy? Do you feel safe with him?”
“Well, he skillfully protected me from a ten year old so far, so he’s not half bad.”
“Seriously, Kagome.” He deadpanned.
“Um, I’m - I’m not lying.” She liked that Inuyasha couldn’t help but crack half a smile there as he rolled his eyes. “He’s attentive, and pretty cool. Likes to joke around, but I can tell he’s serious about his duties. Follows me everywhere -“
“Has he touched you?”
“Yeah, but only appropriately. Unless he’s being a jerk and carrying me out of the room over his shoulder.”
“Like I’m about to.” Shinosuke commented with a chuckle, strutting forward. “You know, you two don’t whisper as quietly as you think you do.”
Inuyasha leveled a glare at the guard as he kneeled right beside Kagome, looking him once over.
“What’s up?” He asked, smiling, unfazed by the clearly unwelcoming attitude the hanyou presented. “Ah, I get it. You don’t know me, so you don’t know if you can trust me with Kagome here. Alright, what would you like to know? Name’s Shinosuke, I’m twenty-four, used to be a chubby kid, favorite color’s red, I like long walks on the beach -“
“Knock it off.” Inuyasha drawled. “You’re not making me like you.”
“Not trying to. That’s not in my pay grade.”
“Shinosuke!” Wakana warned, approaching. “Inuyasha, I’m sorry. He’s got awful people skills, but he is in charge of our guards. With everything you two did for our people, and with how protective papa noticed you were of Kagome, he felt it would give you peace of mind to know our very best was watching over her.”
“Just leave her with me. She’ll be fine. She doesn’t want to go, anyway.”
“And, what’s to happen to her while you’re in your medicinally-induced coma?” Shinosuke challenged, that smug grin never fading.
“Kagome can take care of herself.”
“So, you’d rather she be left alone to worry about you. Alright. Makes my life easier.” He shrugged, rising to a stand.
“Oh, you son of a bitch.” Inuyasha ground out through clenched teeth. He turned to Wakana. “I don’t like the mind games he plays.”
Wakana quickly used the back of her hand to slap Shinosuke’s arm, silently reprimanding him with her scowl. The guard winced, grimacing but still laughing.
“What? I got through to him.”
“Just take her.” Inuyasha rolled his eyes pridefully, giving Kagome’s thigh one last stroke of his palm.
“You heard the man. Come on, tiny might.” Shinosuke boasted, reaching to grab the back of Kagome’s dress and lift her up.
“That name again?” She complained, following his leverage and quickly standing.
“By the way, you don’t have to worry about me touching her inappropriately.” He said down to Inuyasha as the half demon ground his jaw uncomfortably. “Not that kind of guy, and I’m pretty sure your girl here would twist my pinky off. Not to mention,” He gestured to Wakana. “Fiancee.”
It took a small moment, but after watching Wakana nod in reassurance, Inuyasha found himself relaxing slightly. He still wasn’t a fan of the fact that someone else was looking over Kagome, but it surprisingly eased him a lot to know that there was no physical or romantic attraction taking place. Especially while Kagome looked as she did now. Inuyasha found his shoulders dropping an inch, his frown lessening, and a nod of acknowledgment coming forward.
Without another word, Shinosuke grabbed Kagome’s shoulders and guided her toward the door, stopping after just a few steps to make her face the incoming housemaid that carried the brewed tea over.
“See, Matsu. She’s harmless.”
The woman tensed considerably and ducked her head, eyes landing on the floor while her hands wrapped around the tray even tighter. Kagome was taken aback by the woman’s trepidation, her jaw dropping as she couldn’t help but look back over at Inuyasha. Never in her life had she caused a single person to fear her as much as this woman currently did. Not even her younger brother took her this seriously.
“She’s harmless!” Shinosuke urged, laughing. Even he was surprised by the housemaid’s reaction.
“She - uh - she killed Moryomaru, sir.” Matsu softly said as a way to prove Kagome was, in fact, not harmless.
“You know what, I’ll give it to you. You’ve got me there.” The guard bobbed his head. “You seem fine around Inuyasha, though.”
Matsu didn’t say anything. She merely stood there, eyes on the tray of herbal tea as she bounced from foot-to-foot.
“You - you realize he’s half demon, don’t you?”
“I am aware, sir.” She answered.
“Kagome, you damn ruffian.” Shinosuke snickered, shoving her toward the exit and away from the apprehensive housemaid. “You’re seriously gonna tell me the nickname’s still undeserved?”
“I’m sorry!” She guffawed, stumbling, once more looking back at Inuyasha as she laughed. The hanyou merely watched her exasperatedly, his large hand swiping down his face as he silently communicated his dumbfounded nature.
“You scarred the poor girl!” Shinosuke jokingly harassed, pushing her out the door.
Just before she disappeared, she shared one last, bright smile with Inuyasha, waving goodbye to him with the promise to see him soon.

some more inukag.
man i am definitely back on my bullshit when it comes to them lol
"Ow!"
The remark comes sharp and tart, the arm she tends to being yanked from her grip. She sighs, but draw backs all the same, staring at the disgruntled hanyou with sharp but steady eyes. "It burns," he says as if this explains all. Now comes a roll of her eyes as she takes hold of his elbow and pulls him back towards her, shaking her head.
She must wonder how someone such as him- who withstands sword swings and death blows- cries out when all she's done is apply antiseptic. "It wouldn't sting so much if you'd just hold still." She admonishes as she returns to dabbing this wound of his.
They had narrowly escaped Naraku and his minions, this particular wound had come from Kagura, a single wind blade nicking him in the final moments. He’s tough, she knows as well as anybody just how strong he was, but she can’t help but to worry about him, to want to ensure his wounds are clean and bandaged. That tomorrow he would wake up as strong and steady as he was today. “Kagome, I’m fine,” he grumbles, but this time, does not pull his arm away. Rather, he sighs and watches as she wraps his arm in something she calls gauze; truthfully, it does feel better now that she’s finished. “Thank you,” he says a moment later as their eyes meet and a smile tugs at her lips. He loves the sight of it, even if he can’t admit it.
“Next time be more careful,” she says with a wag of her finger, thinking back to that moment. The one where he’d thought it was over, that he’d thought they’d won. But when the smoke had cleared, it was Kagura coming for them, those devilish wind blades making their way towards the both of them. As always, InuYasha had protected her at the cost of his own injury, and she wishes she were stronger, like Sango, like Miroku, like him.
“Hey,” he says, head tilting, golden eyes narrowing ever so slightly. “What is it?” He asks, knowing something was off, something has changed. He’s known her long enough to know her every mood, her every thought, her every move. “Tell me, Kagome.”
She blinks, but chuckles, because despite his usual demeanor, of course he knows. Of course, he notices. “I just wish I was stronger... So, I could protect you and the others.” She admits softly, speaking the words she’s yet to admit to anyone. “In fights like that one, I feel useless.”
“Keh,” comes his reply, followed by a roll of his eyes. But then as his gaze returns back to her, he realizes this is something that really eats at her. It’s something that really bothers her. “Kagome, you are strong,” he says without hesitation, thinking of every moment up until that one where he’s astonished him with her strength, with the fight that lived there within her. “You’re the strongest person I know,” he goes onto say, softer now, gentler now, turning his body so he might fully face her. She was the only person to have nearly killed Naraku, the only person to retain control of her own soulless body, the only person to stand up to Sesshomaru without fear in her eyes. He thinks of her shouting his name in the thick of a fight, thinks of her shedding tears for him, shedding blood for him... There was no one that had done that for him before her. He doesn’t know quite how to say it, but she was strong in other ways, ways beyond wielding a sword or fighting an enemy. She’s making a face now and he’s sighing, shaking his head. “I mean it.”
Hearing his words sends chills down her spine.
“You’re stronger than you think,” he says then, softer than ever before, in a tone she’s not heard before. He’s staring at her with such intensity she thinks for a moment that the world has stopped spinning around her, that the breath in her lungs will not come. Perhaps more words would come, but it’s Miroku and Sango entering now, interrupting as they so often do. Kagome can’t help but to chuckle as she turns to pack up her bag, but his words echo within her mind: you’re the strongest person I know.
Maybe that was enough.

Wish I Could Curse You (7)
Series Master list
Tumblr media
"I think you and Satoru should talk."
Suguru freezes. The rice slips through his chopsticks. "Talk?"
"Yes." Kagome plants her hands on her hips. "I don't know what's going on with you two, but whatever it is, there's no reason you can't talk it out and get your friendship back on track." She wets her lips and takes a seat next to Suguru. "I've been thinking with the loss of my family and Hojo-kun dying, that you're right about life being so short. It's too short for you and Satoru not to make amends."
"I don't think—"
"He'll be over tonight for a movie night. Would you be able to pick up some snacks?" She leans forward and rests her head on her fist. Why is he looking at her like that? Honestly, what could have been so bad that Suguru freezes at the thought of having a civil conversation with Satoru? "I gotta stop by InuYasha's today. You remember Inu right? Well, anyway. His wife, Hana, is due any day now, so I'm gonna stop by and help get their house together."
"That's sweet of you," he replies, setting his chopsticks down. "Now—ahem!" he coughs. "About Satoru stopping by?"
"Well, I don't know what he likes other than kikufuku. That can't be the only thing he eats. And he's your best friend, so you should get something he'd like as a peace offering."
"I don't think that's the kind of offering he would like to receive from me."
"Don't be difficult." She rolls her eyes and gets up. What a hypocrite. He can go on and on about how she needs to live in the present and make every moment count, but he refuses to listen to his own advice. "Either way, Satoru is coming over. Either you can join us, or you can do... whatever it is that you do when you aren't here pestering me."
"Easy. I might think you are trying to seduce me." He laughs, but it's the fakest laugh she has ever heard come from his mouth.
"Look, I'm sure whatever it is, you guys can work through it." She blows out a breath. "I mean, Inu and I didn't always get along and we got past it."
"What could he have possibly done that required your forgiveness?" He peeks at her through those long, dark lashes of his. Kagome bites the inside of her cheek. She messes with the flower vase on the table. She wants to fan herself so badly. Ever since that day, it's been harder to ignore Suguru.
"He did try to kill me the first time we met." She shrugs. "Then there was that issue with his dead girlfriend and her taking half of my soul for a bit." There, the flowers look much better slightly off to the right than in the middle of the table. "... What's with your face?"
"Can you repeat that? Dead girlfriend? Your soul?"
"Oh, it's in the past." Kagome smiles. She and Inu have come a long way. "Besides, I have the rest of my soul back, and Kikyo is resting again. It's not like she wanted to come back as a zombie." She walks back over to him and wraps her arms around him. He smells good. Better than good. "My point is, that whatever happened between you and Satoru, I think you guys can talk it out. It's obvious you guys still care about one another."
"... Can we revisit the soul thing?"
"No." She nips his ear and then freezes. He turns around so fast, she gets whiplash. Her back hits the table. "Uh? Suguru?" Her muscles tense. "I didn't—"
His lips press against hers. His hand, so large and warm, manacles her neck, applying just enough pleasure that her blood sings. She moans as his other hand grips a thigh. His fingers burn as though he's trying to brand her as his.
Wait.
"Suguru," she breathes, pushing back against his chest. His hold over her loosens, but that dark gleam in his eyes grows more heated. His dark shirt stretches, showing off the muscles hiding underneath.
"I want you," he says with no hesitation. His tongue darts out, wetting his lips while his gaze never leaves her. "I want you so badly, I'm willing to entertain this movie date with Satoru." He backs up and helps her off the table. "Text me anything you want and when to show up tonight."
She blinks. He's leaving? He never leaves unless she kicks him out.
"You're leaving?"
"Miss me already?"
"No." She turns her head away, cheeks far too warm than they have any right to be. "I'll see you tonight. Why would I miss you?"
He chuckles as he grabs his bowl off the table and deposits it into the sink. "Should I pack an overnight bag?"
"Who said you could spend the night?"
He just laughs at her before cupping her head and brushing his lips against hers. It's softer. Sweeter. And her knees shake. That's the second time he's kissed her today. She should put a stop to it. Should remind him she isn't ready for a relationship, but her mind is muddled and the longer he kisses her, the quieter those reasons become.
"I'll see you tonight." He pulls away and winks, humming to himself out the door. Kagome touches her lips. She needs to talk to Sango like now. Eri and the girls won't be of any help. They're still mad she broke up with Hojo and then his passing away unexpectedly at such a young age too, has not damped their sentiments in that regard.
So yeah, she needs to get a move on it, so she has enough time to chat with Sango before tonight. Kagome grabs a couple of items and snacks she knows Shippo-chan likes and stuffs them in her still going strong yellow bookbag. They do not make bookbags like these anymore. She shuts the door behind her and tries to sense Suguru.
Good.
He actually left.
Talking about the well and how she time travels is not something she wants to get into. At least not yet. Yes, Suguru has been here for her since losing her family and he knows about InuYasha now, but she needs to be sure he won't try to use the time travel to his advantage.
Maybe she's just jaded these days, but Suguru doesn't have to know everything about her. Kagome jumps into the well and the fresh air of the past greets her. The quality is so clean. So peaceful. If only she could experience this kind of air quality and her way of living back in her time.
She heads out to find Sango. If there is anyone that can give her advice, it'll be Sango-chan.
Kagome heads into the village where she finds Sango trying to wrangle in the twins. "Hey Sango!" she calls, waving her hand. Sango smiles warmly at her. Her simple kimono is yellow with pink flowers. It looks amazing on Sango. But Kagome is biased. She swears everything looks amazing on the demon slayer. "Do you have time for a chat? And I got goodies for everyone."
The twins swarm her backpack and take off with their respective dolls. Sango shakes her head and interlocks their arms together. They head down to the river and sit. Kagome pulls out some snacks and hands some to Sango.
"What's on your mind?" Sango asks, munching on a chip. She crosses her legs and leans back.
"Suguru kissed me again."
"The sorcerer guy that tried to save your family?"
"Yeah, he's been around nearly every day. At least it feels that way. Sometimes we go out and exorcise curses together." Kagome blows out a breath. "He wants more than I can give him."
"I think you are so strong for everyone else that you don't know how to allow someone to shoulder your pain, too." Sango sets the bag of chips down in her lap and looks out at the river. "No one is saying that you can't do both. You can grieve the loss of your family... and the loss of Hojo, while still allowing this Suguru to be there for you. Take it day by day. Isn't that what you told me when I was on the fence about Miroku?"
Kagome frowns. Yes, she did tell Sango to take it day by day with Miroku.
"Are you not attracted to him?"
"I am," she admits. "Suguru is..." Her mind goes blank. There are no words to fully encompass how attractive she finds him. "But there's also the dilemma with Satoru. Him and Suguru are friends, even though they don't seem to be speaking right now."
"That is quite the dilemma." Sango hums. "Are they upset with you?"
Are they upset? Satoru hasn't really mentioned it, but it's as though she's come out and told him she and Suguru have kissed. And he's not her boyfriend. "Satoru doesn't bring it up. Suguru has only complained that I was willing to sleep with Satoru and not him. But Satoru was only going to be a one-night thing. It's not like I knew they were friends."
Kagome falls back on the grass and stretches her legs out. "I should cancel this movie night with all of us."
"... If neither of them cares, why not have both?"
Kagome blinks. Did she hear Sango correctly? Both? "I'm sorry? What?" She turns her head to the side and looks over at Sango, who seems non-phased by the words she just uttered.
Sango shrugs. "Take it day by day?"
"I think Miroku has rubbed off on you."
"I hope he does later."
Kagome closes her eyes and laughs. Miroku has corrupted Sango, that's for sure. She and Sango continue to chat for a while until their legs go numb and it's time for Sango to get started on dinner. Kagome stops by InuYasha's and Hana's hut on her way back to the well. Their child will be born any day now, and Kagome wants them to be as comfortable as possible.
"Oi!" InuYasha calls from behind her while she has one leg over the edge of the well.
"What is it?" It's not like InuYasha to chase her down. At least not anymore.
"What happened with your family. It wasn't your fault." He turns his head away, though she can see the pink on his cheeks from here.
"They were your family, too. Mama always considered you as hers."
"I know," he says softly. "I just... it wasn't your fault, so stop moping around like it is." He shoves his hands into the sleeves of his red fire rat haori. "And stop by more often. Hana likes when you do."
Kagome smiles. "I'll try my best." She swings her other leg over and hops down. The familiar magic warms her bones and before she knows it, she's staring up at the inside of the well house. First thing she needs to do is take a shower and then get some things in order before Suguru and Satoru get here.
Kagome opens the door and takes one step out of the well house when Satoru's curse energy wraps around her.
"What are you doing?" Satoru asks. Kagome freezes.
Why is he here early? And doesn't he know that those sweatpants hint at everything? Is he even wearing boxers?
"Cleaning the well house. What are you doing here so early?" She grips the straps of her yellow backpack and prays her face doesn't give her lies away. "Movie night doesn't start for another hour?"
"I'm actually on time for once. Did you lose track cleaning?" He moves to take her bookbag, but she sidesteps him and motions for him to follow.
"Oh really? I left my watch inside." She goes for nonchalant. If Satoru is telling the truth, then must have got caught up in the past catching up with everyone. Which means then, that Suguru is probably inside. He doesn't have a key, but he gets in somehow. He refuses to tell her how exactly he is breaking in. "Suguru must be inside then."
"... Yeah, I sense his cursed energy inside. Thought it was just going to be us, though," he says, with a huff.
"Really? I could have sworn I said join us for a movie night." Great, did she lead him on? "Well, that's not a problem, right? You and Suguru? He picked out the snacks for us."
"Look, Kagome. Suguru isn't—"
"Sa-to-ru," Suguru greets, opening the front door. "Seems you found Kagome. I've been calling you for hours."
Kagome tilts her head to the side as she slides out of her shoes. "You should wear your hair down more often. I like it." She brushes past while Suguru appears stunned by her admission. It's not a lie. Something about Suguru with his hair down and not pulled back makes him look far more... feral.
Her stomach clenches.
"I'm going to take a quick shower!" she calls out. "You guys pick out the movie list."
"Can I join?" Satoru calls back.
Kagome rolls her eyes. "Sure, after you two have worked out your differences."
Kagome shifts as she gets comfortable on the couch. Sandwiched between Satoru and Suguru, she can feel the animosity brewing between the two of them. She rolls her eyes. Maybe she should leave and give them some space to talk things out? Since they clearly didn't take the time to chat when she was getting ready.
Suguru reaches over and lifts one leg and places it over his. "That's better," he says, looking straight ahead. She can't remember the name of the movie, but the horror aspect of it could use some work.
"For who?" Kagome wonders. It's a bit awkward to the say the least. Satoru stretches and places an arm around her. "Satoru?"
"Hm?" His jaw ticks. The light from the tv highlights the strong cut of his jaw. Her stomach flutters. "Did you want to stretch your legs?" He grabs her other leg and places it over his. With his free hand, he squeezes her thigh.
"... Are you guys going to talk about it? We can pause the movie." Not to mention, this pose is a bit awkward. It's as though they are fighting for a piece of her instead of talking to one another. And the movie isn't all that interesting. Or maybe her standards are too high now with the horrors she has seen? Either way, this pose feels a tad bit scandalous, even with her shorts on.
"Talk?" Satoru scoffs. "With the movie playing?"
"There's no need for us to talk about it," Suguru says, his fingers inch forward. Kagome swallows. Surely he doesn't mean what she thinks he means.
"About getting your friendship back on track," she says weakly, trying to wrangle in this situation. Dealing with Suguru is one thing. Dealing with Suguru and Satoru at the same is another ball park. She didn't prepare for this situation.
"Life is short," Suguru says, drawing circles on her thigh, "Too short for you to keep denying yourself."
"Suguru," Satoru warns.
"The fact that you are still here tells me you're hoping for the same thing." Suguru chuckles. The low, menacing chuckle does wicked things to Kagome's resolve. "Surely you knew I would be here. What were you hoping for?"
There's a dark, sensuous undercurrent in the air. Kagome swallows. It's as though Suguru and Satoru are having a conversation within the conversation. She feels a little off-kilter sitting between the two. Perhaps she should just get up and give them privacy?
"Are you uncomfortable?" Satoru asks, angling his head toward her. She can't see his expression with the sunglasses in the way, but there's a seriousness to him that strikes her as odd.
"No, I'd tell you to stop if I was."
The smirk is instantaneous.
"But you two should talk," she continues, moving her leg from his lap. "Suguru," she says with a sigh, while his hands tighten on her thigh. "Let me up."
"Or what?" He angles his head towards her, his long dark hair brushes against her shoulder. "What if I never want to let you go?"
"You're hilarious," she replies flatly, jerking her leg and attempting to kick out at him. Suguru moves towards her, but she jumps back and hits Satoru. "Sorry," she says, glancing up at Satoru. The blood in her face rushes down her body. Satoru pushes his sunglasses up. His blue eyes are so vibrant in the dark.
They really do sparkle.
"Tell me if you're uncomfortable," he murmurs. His hands lift her up as he bends down, stealing her breath away. Suguru's hands grip her legs, reminding her he isn't going anywhere.
She aches.
Kissing Satoru is like kissing the sun with how warm he is. His warmth seeps into her skin. Her hands fist his shirt.
"Wait," she says, slightly breathless. "Don't you—"
"We've already talked," Suguru interrupts. His fingers toy with the edge of her shorts. "Do I get to kiss you too?" He slides his hands up, hooking his fingers in her shorts, but he makes no move to pull them down. Kagome bites her lip. Is she really about to do this?
With both of them? On this cramped couch? Not that her bed would be any better.
If she does this, there's no going back. She thinks back to her talk with Sango. Kagome nods, not trusting herself to get the words out.
"I want to hear you say it," Suguru says, though he slides her shorts off and closes his eyes, inhaling deeply. "Need you to say it. Isn't that right, Satoru?"
"Say it, otherwise I'm kicking him out." Satoru eyes flit from Suguru to her. Oh. He's serious. Her face must be the color of a tomato with how hot her face is.
"I want both of you," she admits. Suguru has panties off and his face between her legs before she can finish. The moan wretches itself free. "Sug—" Satoru swallows her moans and makes them his own.
Her body burns from the stretch. Suguru swirls his tongue inside of her and she could die right there with no regrets. He eats her as though his life depends on it. As though he's been aching to have her like this.
Maybe he has.
Suguru groans with every swipe of his tongue. Satoru doesn't stop kissing her. Her body is disoriented. It doesn't know which pleasure to focus on. Her legs tremble. She grips Satoru's shirt tighter.
Fuck, she's close. Almost there. Suguru spreads her thighs, opening her up to him. He doesn't let up. Doesn't give her a moment to breathe. Her orgasm crashes over her like a storm.
Wild.
Uncontrollable.
She screams as she comes, but it comes out muffled with how determined Satoru is with taking every breath of hers away.
"Kami, you taste amazing," Suguru says, eyes closed in bliss, while his hands run down her sides. The angle must be uncomfortable with how tall Suguru is, but if he's uncomfortable, he doesn't act like it. "Have you had a taste?"
Kagome sucks in a breath. Her nipples strain. Her body aches so badly. Suguru talks about her as those she is the greatest thing ever.
"Not yet," Satoru murmurs. His fingers pluck at her nipples through her thin tank top. Suddenly, he's pulling her away from Suguru as though she weighs nothing.
Suguru grunts. The light from the tv highlights the crazed gleam in his eyes. "I need to grab some stuff."
Grab some stuff?
She wants to question him, but Satoru repositions her, so her cunt is on his lips, and she has to grip the back of the couch to stay upright.
"Fuck, you are sweet," Satoru groans. He moves her hips back and forth, urging her to ride his face.
She's sensitive from the orgasm Suguru licked out of her, and now Satoru is determined to ruin her more. Her moans are broken variations of his name. He suctions his lips around her nub and her vision goes white.
Shit.
This was an awful idea. There's no way she can look either of them in the eye now and not think about tonight. Day by day, her ass. How is she going to survive this night? Satoru slaps her ass. It stings. She hopes he does it again.
"Stay with me, Gome-chan. Gonna make you feel you good," he coos, squeezing her cheeks. "Ride me, just like that."
She rocks back and forth, eyes closed, head thrown back, as she chases another high. "Satoru," she moans, "Close."
"Yeah?" He grabs her hips and moves her up and down, guiding her while he fucks her with his tongue. "Give it all to me. Just like that. Look at how much ya leaking. Keep coming on my tongue."
"Isn't she sweet?" Suguru asks.
Kagome opens her eyes. Rope? Satoru coaxes the orgasm out of her, and she squeezes her eyes shut again. Her breaths are erratic. Her legs feel like jello. And why the hell does Suguru have rope? Satoru? Suguru? Someone grabs her and helps her to sit upright on the couch.
"What's with the rope?" she asks, trying to catch her breath. Suguru toys with the rope, though his eyes never leave hers.
"I enjoy seeing you helpless."
Of course he does.
She suspects Suguru just likes her in general, but she doesn't call him out on it. "And what if I'd rather tie you up instead?"
"That could be arranged," Satoru agrees, shedding his clothes like a damn snake. Her hand flies to her chest. She figured he'd be big. She didn't think he would be that big. "See something you like?" Satoru grips his cock in one hand and strokes.
Fuck, that should be illegal.
"It's not that impressive," Suguru says with a snort. He kicks his pants off and bends down until he is eye level. "Here, I told you, you could do whatever you want with me." He pushes the rope into her hands and Kagome is speechless. She never thought Suguru would be the type.
Maybe she should stop thinking and just go with it.
"You're just mad because she came harder with me." Satoru walks around the couch and reaches for her shirt. "Just say the word and I'll kick Suguru out."
"That's my line," Suguru says, tapping the rope. "How bout it?" He holds out his hands with a smile on his face. Suguru may be offering to be tied up, but Kagome feels like a mouse, and she is their prey. She clucks her tongue, trying to ignore how Satoru's large hands cup her breast, toying with her nipples idly.
She ties Suguru's hands together and preens at the knot.
"... Have you done this before?" He admires the knot.
"No. Lucky first try?" Yeah, she isn't about to tell him about how often she used to get kidnapped. He freaked out about the whole not having all of her soul at one point. Suguru would probably double down and never let her out of his sight.
"Hm." Suguru doesn't seem all that convinced, but he doesn't press her. "Lift her up," Suguru commands, like he knows Satoru will listen to him.
And he does.
Maybe they did talk?
Satoru holds her bridal style and kisses her. She tastes herself on his tongue.
"Satoru," Suguru warns. Satoru rolls his eyes and eases her back down on top of Suguru. Her cunt clenches, desperate to have him inside of her. Suguru wets his lips. His hands rest behind him with his elbows pointed outward. He looks helpless, but she knows if Suguru wanted to, he could break out of his bindings.
"Is this what you wanted?" she murmurs, stroking his thick cock. He shifts and thrusts into her hand. She spreads the pre-cum over the mushroom shaped head. His cock is like a work of art.
"Don't tease," he says, eyes hooded. The noise from the movie goes silent.
Satoru tosses the remote on the table and then brushes his fingers across her lips. "You're beautiful," he murmurs, before pulling away. Warmth spreads through her. There's an odd reverence to his tone. She can't put her finger on it, but there's a shift in the room,
She rises and sinks down on Suguru. Her breath catches.
"Shit," he breathes, "you feel like... fuck." His eyes slide shut as her walls stretch around him. Satoru has Suguru on length, but damn if Suguru's cock isn't stretching her to the brim. She places her hands on his chest and rides him, nice and slow. Little moans escape her. Broken versions of Suguru's name.
He feels good. Better than good.
"Use me, just like that," he coos.
Satoru places a foot next to Suguru's head and reaches for her, guiding her head down. His vibrant blue eyes darken with such intensity, it should scare her. She opens her mouth and welcomes him in, gagging slightly when he hits the back of her throat. He fucks her face, slowly, allowing her to adjust to him.
"Sorry, Kagome," Suguru says, "Need to touch you." His hands are on her in an instant. So much for those bindings. She moans around Satoru's cock while Suguru takes control and drives into her. His hands grip her hips so tightly, she is sure there will be marks of his hands on her. He slides his hands up and cups her breasts.
"How does she feel?" Satoru asks, as though he and Suguru are having an everyday conversation.
"Like a dream," Suguru replies, snapping his hips up. For two people who pretend to not be friends anymore, they fuck her in perfect synchrony. Her mind is free of anything other than the way they love her. Suguru gives her one hard thrust and then lifts her off him. She swears they must have telepathy with how Satoru pulls out of her mouth and maneuvers her, so she is facing Suguru with her ass to Satoru.
"Fuck, ya do feel like a dream. Should have known with how sweet you taste." He slides into her, and the moan punches her in the throat with a vengeance. "Wanna live in this pussy," he babbles.
Suguru brushes the hair out of her face and kisses her softly. Much softer than the one they shared earlier. Her body hums in pleasure. "I want you," he says. "Can I have you?"
He's asking that now?
Satoru slides a hand around and plays with her clit. She squeezes her eyes shut. The pleasure is too much. She wants to run. She wants to stay. Suguru kisses her again before urging her to take him into her mouth.
"Don't come in her."
"That's not up to you."
Suguru threads his fingers through her hair and grabs a fistful. She gags as he pushes her head further down. Satoru's hips snap into her and then stops. She breathes through her nose and pulls back enough to look up.
Oh.
She blinks.
Suguru grips the back of Satoru's head with his other hand. For a moment she wonders if they forgot about her, but Satoru nips Suguru's lip. The red gleams under the harsh light. Suguru licks at the blood coating his lips.
"Sugr—"
"We'll talk later." Suguru glances down at her. "If I had my phone, I'd take a picture of you with my cock between your lips."
Kagome glares at him, but it lacks all the heat, with her hand wrapped around his cock, and Satoru thrusting from behind. She whines, her throat just a bit raw. "Glad you two—ah!" she swallows the moan. "Made up."
Suguru laughs and then pushes his cock past her lips once more. "Something like that." His legs tremble as he fucks her mouth. Satoru says something, but she can't hear him over her muffled moans and Suguru's. He shoots his come down her mouth, his cock twitching as he spends himself inside of her.
Some of it leaks out, but she swipes it up with her tongue.
"Satoru," Suguru warns, but he's clearly out of breath as he caresses the side of her face.
"Not up to you," Satoru quips, gripping her hips. "Come on Gome-chan, where do you want it?"
Where does she want it?
"I'm on birth control," she says, slightly stunned by her own admission. Her tongue darts out, wetting her lips. She can still taste the slightly salty taste of Suguru.
"Oho," Satoru says, "Hear that Suguru, looks like Gome-chan wants me to fill her up." He lifts one of her legs and she has to hold on to Suguru. "Damn, you're flexible."
"Look at me," Suguru commands, taking her lips once more. Her body wants to give out. She's lost track of how many orgasms she's had now. Satoru pounds into her, while holding her leg up. He reaches places within her she didn't even know could be reached.
He comes, and like magic, Satoru's orgasm triggers her own.
She. Is. Spent.
Satoru eases her leg down but makes no move to pull out. Kagome lifts her head and turns to look back at him. His sunglasses fell back on his face, hiding his eyes from view.
"Give me a moment," he breathes. "That was..." he trails off. His mind must be as jumbled up as hers.
"So about staying the night," Suguru says, because he isn't really asking her, that much she can tell. She suspects he already has an overnight bag packed and probably chilling in the closet.
"Yes, you can spend the night." She rolls her eyes and shivers when Satoru pulls out. "But I need another bath."
"And this couch is too small," Satoru says. "Got any extra bedding?"
"I do?" Satoru is staying too? She worries her bottom lip. Now what? Thank them for the mind-blowing sex? Suguru pokes her forehead.
"Stop overthinking it." He stands and picks her up. "The extra bedding is in the upstairs closet by the bathroom," Suguru says, heading towards the stairs.
"You've been snooping?" She pokes Suguru's chest.
"Do you want it in the ass next?"
Her mouth drops. How can he just come out and ask that?
"Kami, you're cute. It's no wonder Satoru is obsessed as I am."
Kagome looks back at Satoru, walking behind them. He pushes his sunglasses up and winks. Her face burns.
Day by day. She can do that. No problem.

A/N: Happy New Year! Even though is the last update for 2023 lol. Am I going to ignore the smut I just wrote? Yes. lmao.
"Could Suguru have tempted Kagome to the dark side?" - I think he could have by making it seem like certain people were bad. Kind of like how Naraku for awhile was able to trick Sango.
"Do I think Toji's worm was the straw that broke Geto?"- It definitely didn't help since he was running off of seeing Riko get shot and Satoru was possibly dead too.
"Forthright still writes fanfic"- I'll have to check out their published works. If I go down that route, then I need like a really cool pen name lol.
"Is Geto above baby trapping Kagome?"- I don't think so, but he is above getting her drunk since he wants her to want him.
"Do I think Geto neutralized some threats to Gojo?"- No, only because I can't think of anyone that would have gone after Gojo. But, I think Geto having people come to his temple with their curses, helped Gojo in a roundabout way. Geto wasn't really killing a bunch of non-sorcerers. He was using them to get more curses for his 'army' which gave jujutsu sorcerers less curses to exorcise.
"Geto is the king of rizz"- Geto's gaslightlighting is on a thousand. He gaslit Kagome and Gojo in this chapter.
As always, take care of yourselves! I know with the new year, we like to set big goals. I would highly suggest choosing one big goal to work towards and allowing the momentum of that to snowball into completing smaller goals. I have a one-night stand fic that I am hoping to write in 2024, but first at least one story needs to be complete before I do. Stay safe. Drink your water. And if you go out for New Year, try to be aware of your surroundings. Here's to more fics in 2024.

Ask, and you shall receive.
1800 words under the cut. Not edited. Written at work so it was a shoddy rush job and everything is very vague and you'll just have to accept this.
I'll write a proper, better video gamer AU one day. For now though...
Won't You Say (You Love Me, Too)
The thing is—
The thing is that Inuyasha isn’t meant to be here. Sure, he’s a little drunk. And sure, Koga’s stupid face dared him, because Koga is both stupid, has a face, and that face is stupid. Inuyasha didn’t have to listen, though. Inuyasha could have done a billion other things, like walk away, or laugh the dare off, or – or – could have even gotten himself another drink.
That… That would have been the smarter plan.
Inuyasha hiccups, flinching at the noise. He is so not supposed to be here.
“Inuyasha,” stupid Koga hisses from below. It’s probably supposed to be a whisper. It’s not. It’s like…quieter yelling, but yelling nonetheless.
Haughtily, Inuyasha glares down at his teammate. The window that he’s jimmied open to break into the Priestess House is still open. It’s unseasonably warm for an autumn night, but it’s strangely comforting. At least, Inuyasha thinks so. That could just be the alcohol talking, though.
“Inuyasha,” Koga hisses again, “what do you see?”
He blinks, frowns, and then squints into the dark room. There’s not a ton of illumination from either the moon, or the streetlights. He thinks, dimly, that this is a…bedroom? A bedroom. This is not, in fact, the office that they thought they were breaking into.

He takes in a deep breath, brain pinging at him worriedly. He knows this scent. It’s familiar. Too familiar. Inuyasha should know whose room he’s in and it’s on the tip of his tongue – his nose? No, that’s not a saying – when Koga makes another hissing sound.
Ugh.
“What?” Inuyasha snarls, so desperate to glare out the window at his stupid teammate and at said stupid teammate’s face that he nearly stumbles. Bracing himself on the little table underneath, he makes a point to roll his eyes when the wolf demon waves alarmingly at him. “What is so urgent that you need to—”
“I hear them,” Koga whisper-yells, because he’s stupid. “They’re just down the street.”
“What?” he exclaims, but this time it’s desperate rather than irritated. “I thought Miroku said the girls would be gone for at least an hour.”
“Well, his intel is shit,” Koga replies. “Now get out!”
So much for sneaking into their offices to find out if any of their playing strategies would be visible. The regional gaming tournament is only two days away, and every single member of the six-person Priestess team has been dominating the competition. Their battle strategies have taken weaker characters and turned them into something surprisingly efficient. It should be impossible. Character stats don’t lie.
And yet. And yet. The women of the Priestess House have made a mockery of nearly everyone there. And the worst of them?
Kagome Higurashi. The absolute bane of his existence. She came onto the scene about three years ago, rising up the ranks. Inuyasha hadn’t even given her a second thought until The Incident last year.
The Incident, in which she—
“Inuyasha,” Koga hisses again, like an angry cat. A cat. Not a wolf. Inuyasha should tell him this. Inuyasha is desperate to tell him this. “You need to jump out the window, you fuck.”
Right. The Priestess girls were coming back. Kagome would be with them and that would be— That would be bad. Not just because of the breaking and entering, or the trespassing. It would be bad because Inuyasha would have to be around her for likely more than a minute, which would mean that he’d have to stare into those dark eyes and that too-kind smile – like they’re friends, which they are not – and then—
“For fuck’s sake, I’m going to leave you,” Koga states, and that finally drills through Inuyasha’s pretty drunk skull. Can skulls be drunk?
No?
Maybe.
“I’m coming,” Inuyasha replies, pushing upwards, but he’s an idiot. The table underneath him isn’t that sturdy, and so his pressure on it to climb back out the window from which he entered sends a picture frame crashing to the ground.
“Inuyasha!”
“Oh my god, say my name one more time and I will murder you!” Inuyasha snaps. Koga is not helping, that fucking fuck. “Hold the fuck on, we can’t let them know—” And he bends down to grab the frame and put it back. Hopefully whoever’s room this is won’t notice.
And then he sees the picture in the frame, practically mocking him. It’s fucking Kagome Higurashi, no more than four years old and clinging to a small baby who looks distinctly unhappy by the entire experience. It’s undoubtedly her. While there’s more chub to her cheeks, those are the same sparkling eyes and that’s the same beaming smile. He would know that smile anywhere because it always makes him feel off-balance, confused. No one just smiles at people, at strangers. No one just smiles at you while they’re getting destroyed in one-on-one battle, and then shakes your hand with that same happy smile when they’ve lost. They don’t use that exact same smile when they see you again later in the year, at another tournament, and only stop smiling when they beat you so badly—
Oh god.
Oh fucking god.
This is Kagome’s bedroom. This is Kagome’s bedroom and he’s in her room and—
Kagome Higurashi at four years old smiles the exact same way, and she’s clinging to a little boy and that’s a big purple dinosaur right beside her on the couch. A dinosaur. She likes dinosaurs, oh god this is the worst—
“Godspeed, fucker,” Koga whispers-yells. “We hardly knew ye!” There’s the distinct sound of bushes rustling. His own teammate has abandoned him. Inuyasha is going to commit murder.
Firmly putting down the picture frame, Inuyasha starts the careful climb back out the window. He’s got one leg out, half of his body strained to reach the little lip in the brickwork he climbed up earlier. His hands grab at the sill, twisting him, and then he sees it.
It.
The purple dinosaur.
It’s on her bed, perfectly placed and disgustingly cute.
“Oh no,” Inuyasha groans, and then promptly shoves himself out the window. It takes him ten precious seconds to balance, and then another ten seconds to close the window and hide the fact he ever broke in in the first place. At the first sound of voices, Inuyasha freezes against the brick, propped up in a little corner and distinctly not looking down. It’s not a far drop, but the last thing Inuyasha needs is to lose his balance, topple into the garden, and then have the Priestess women come running to see what the fuck happened.
He waits, breath nearly held, until they start opening the door. There’s enough fuss and discussion that Inuyasha feels safe in making his escape, running away like the hounds of hell are chasing him. He doesn’t stop. He doesn’t look back.
When he finds Koga, lounging on the couch and drinking yet another beer at their shared gaming house, it takes a solid ten seconds of very slow counting to remind himself that murder is bad.
Besides, they have a tournament to win on Saturday.

The next day, Inuyasha finds himself looking for purple dinosaurs on Amazon.
This is, well, not ideal.
“What are you doing?” Hachi asks, eyes narrowed in confusion and then widening in concern when Inuyasha flinches to hide this embarrassing lack of restraint. “Wow, okay.”
“Fuck off,” Inuyasha replies, but he’s too mortified to even make it mean-sounding. He just comes off as pathetic.
There’s a snort in the doorway, and Miroku comes bumbling in with a clipboard. He takes his duties as team manager far too seriously. “What did Hachi do wrong now?”
“I didn’t do anything wrong,” Hachi replies, eyeing Inuyasha again. “He’s the one that went all crazy when I asked him what he was doing.”
“And what was he doing?” Miroku presses. He’s grinning like a fool because he’s the worst. The worst best friend a guy could ask for. Inuyasha doesn’t know why he’s teammates with these idiots. It’s bad enough he’s got to deal with Koga.
“I wasn’t do anything,” he tries, but Hachi’s just shaking his head.
“Looking at his phone. I don’t know.”
Miroku turns to him, a shark that smells blood in the water. “Your phone? Who are you texting?”
“No one,” Inuyasha scoffs. “Fuck off.”
This gets a nod, and he has one moment of hope that Miroku won’t push the issue when his best friend hums. “You’re right. You have no friends outside of this team.”
“I’m not his friend!” Koga yells from somewhere else in the house.
Inuyasha sighs.
“So you must have been watching something.”
“No,” Hachi argues, “he was holding his phone like this. He was reading something, or maybe scrolling?”
“Inuyasha can’t read!” comes Koga’s voice again. They all ignore him.
“You’re not on Instagram,” Miroku hums, playing fucking Sherlock Holmes. “And you’re definitely not on TikTok. Discord is just another form of talking to people, so that’s out.”
Growling, he shoves his phone in the pocket of hoodie and gets up. “I am leaving.”
“Ooh, he’s leaving,” his friend continues, blue eyes alight with something dangerously close to glee. “Fuck, it has to be about Kagome then. That’s the only time you get this pissy.”
“Ha!” Hachi laughs because he, too, is the worst.
“That’s my future wife!” Koga yells from the other room, but that’s just because he’s delusional. As if someone like Koga could fucking rub two braincells together enough to impress her. Inuyasha’s face does a thing at the very thought.
“Oh my god, it is!” Miroku cackles.
“No,” Inuyasha answers, and he thinks he does a pretty good job of remaining calm. “But fuck you, anyways.”
“Are you reading her Wikitubia again?” his friend asks and that is it—
“One time!” Inuyasha yells, storming away from the main room. “That was one time!”
His teammates’ laughter follows him all the way back to his bedroom. Shippo, rubbing at his eyes after his nap – because he acts like a literal child, it’s embarrassing – just stares at him confusedly. “What did I miss?”
Inuyasha doesn’t stop walking. “Absolutely fucking nothing.” He gets into his room, shuts the door with a disturbing amount of care, and then leaps onto his bed to try and suffocate himself with a pillow. The walls of their gaming house aren’t that thick. If he tries hard enough, Inuyasha could hear the shit they’re undoubtedly still talking about him.
One time, Inuyasha pathetically whines in his head. He was only caught staring at her Wikitubia page one time. He was sizing up the enemy. Looking for weaknesses to exploit. That’s the only reason he did it. Just like that’s the only reason he watches her YouTube videos religiously, at least once a day, and always at night once everyone else has fallen asleep.
It’s not because of anything weird. It’s because she’s the enemy. She’s the competition. Inuyasha must figure out a way to destroy her.
Later that night, when he goes back to re-watching an old YouTube video of hers – one Kagome had posted within the first month of her rise to so-called fame – that he sees it.
It.
The purple dinosaur.
Sitting propped up on some pillows, like a prized treasure.
“Motherfucker,” Inuyasha snaps. He doesn’t stop the video, though. There could be secrets. Weaknesses to exploit. Yadda yadda yadda, he’s not in denial, this is only his third time watching it, blah blah—
Kagome smiles in the video and his chest does the thing.
Inuyasha sighs. Miroku can never, ever see his browsing history.
