vedic astrology observations
every revati i personally know has a dysfunctional relationship with either/both parent. there are celebrity examples as well
Angelina Jolie, Ellen DeGeneres, Rihanna, Cardi B (all Revati Moon)
2. two tier naks like uttaraphalguni & purvaphalguni, uttarashada & purvashada, uttarabhadrapada & purvabhadrapada often appear together
Tumblr media
Jin is UBP moon & Yoongi is PBP sun
Tumblr media
Jisoo is Purvashada Sun & Jennie is Uttarashada Sun
Tumblr media
Bella is Purvaphalguni Moon & rising, Anwar is Uttaraphalguni rising
3.i have noticed that many punarvasu natives veer between either extreme in their early life, i.e, either they grow up extremely wealthy & comfortable or they grow up struggling/have difficult childhoods.
many royals have Punarvasu nakshatra (ex: Charlotte Casiraghi) and its generally seen as a wealth giving nakshatra but many famous Punarvasus have had rough childhoods, like drew barrymore, keanu reeves, eartha kitt (all punarvasu moon) and meghan markle (punarvasu rising) ive often noticed that the father being absent/being abandoned by the father is also a common theme in the lives of these natives (literally all the people i just mentioned grew up either without their father or saw him very less).
4. "The Nice Guys"
certain celebrities have a reputation for being "a nice guy"; they're humble, cordial, very grounded and polite. Ardra, Punarvasu & Pushya were the most common nakshatras among them. its not surprising to me that these celebs who have a reputation for being "nice", have naks in the Gemini-Cancer spectrum. im not saying other naks aren't capable of being nice, just that these naks have a tendency to make you known for being nice.
Tumblr media
Tom Hanks, Punarvasu Sun, Pushya Moon
Tumblr media
Keanu Reeves, Punarvasu Moon & stellium
Tumblr media
Adam Sandler, Ardra Moon
Tumblr media
Emilia Clarke, Ardra moon
Tumblr media
Paul Rudd, Ardra rising
Tumblr media
Mark Hamill, Pushya moon
Tumblr media
Chris Evans, has Mercury & Venus in Ardra. His luminaries also consist entirely of Deva gana naks (Mrig sun, Swati moon & Anuradha rising)
Tumblr media
Chris Hemsworth has Mars in Pushya
ive often been asked why i include placements other than the "big 3" when making observations and i want to say, please dont be misguided by pop-astrology narrative that your sun, moon & rising are "the most important" placements. they represent your ego, mind and appearance but its a very western mindset to say that "importance" is confined only to these aspects of an individual. a person is more than just the sum of their parts. every placement affects you. your mercury is how you communicate and express yourself, does that not sound important to you? mars is how we assert ourselves and conduct ourselves, venus is how we channel beauty, love and abundance. all of these are "important"!!!
6. Serpent Yoni (Rohini & Mrigashira) natives are probably some of the most private people ever. They're extremely protective of their personal space & it's not uncommon for them to stay off of social media entirely. If you consider the fact that snakes live in hidden spaces, away from the reach of most animals/people, it makes sense as to why these natives exhibit similar behaviour
Tumblr media
Adele (Venus in Mrigashira)
Tumblr media
Enya (Mrigashira Moon), she lives alone in a castle in the middle of nowhere in Ireland 😭😭thats sooo Mrig coded
Tumblr media
Sandra Bullock (Mrigashira stellium) she's also been subject to stalking & harassment (a common Mrig theme) her home was invaded in 2014 etc but she's in semi retirement now and says she will never join social media
Tumblr media
Jennifer Lawrence (Mrigashira Moon)
her privacy has been invaded brutally but she has always been adamant on protecting it.
Tumblr media
Brigitte Bardot (Rohini Moon) she retired in the 70s and has since lived in the French countryside
Tumblr media
Cillian Murphy (Rohini Sun) we lit rally know nothing about him
7. ive noticed with bharani men is that they tend to have difficult relationships with their fathers/the father is absent somehow, they're however very fond of their moms and sooo many of them have an older sister??? who they are also very close to???
Tumblr media
Robert Downey Jr had a very complicated relationship with his father who encouraged his son to do drugs with him as a child etc
I had already mentioned that Revati natives often come from dysfunctional families, Rob has a Revati sun & stellium and he is Bharani moon. His rising is Ashlesha which is also often seen in natives who come from abusive or controlling homes.

give their favourite bands right this minute. which one likes weezer. eliminate them/j
oh this is a good question. Hope you don't mind if I take "band" and turn it into "music in general" sjdlsmds
Gordon would probably like McCafferty. He isn't nearly as sad in this au as his HLVRAI canon counterpart is but there's something nice about how cathartic McCafferty is. He's also 100% obsessed with Tom Cardy because he appreciates the art of Making Entire Songs Complaining About Mild Inconveniences
Benrey definitely likes the Oozes and also Dazey and the Scouts. Bastard music supremacy, good for ruining karaoke nights and getting everyone sent home at 2am /hj. Listens to that shit so loud you can hear it through her headphones. If you comment on it they grin at you and play it louder
I don't think Tommy listens to music much, to him it's one of those things where you don't touch it for ages and then Very Briefly But Strongly Hyperfixate over. That being said they probably listen to The Scary Jokes and Hozier for comfort purposes when they're overwhelmed every now and then
Bubby... fucking loves Queen. You'll rarely, if ever, find it listening to anything else. you're ever wondering why ze's still up at 3am it's because ze was listening to Queen and dancing around his room with the air of a true performer. Fat-Bottomed Girls is a particular favorite of hers <3
Harold, like Tommy, probably doesn't really listen to music as much as the rest. He probably likes listening to old music in other languages than English because he likes the feel of different sounds and syllables. He also likes when the team sends him really low quality songs that sound like they went through a paper shredder
Gwendolen probably almost exclusively listens to piano music/piano covers of music on YouTube. Circus Contraption, Tom Lehrer and Tally Hall are the only artists she listens to normally without vigorously scouring the web for piano covers of their music (because they are just so good on their own). Her and Harold have a playlist of piano covers and old music with like 200 songs - Bubby got ahold of one of their phones at some point and changed the playlist name to "Nerd music" and they haven't changed it back
The Weezer enjoyer trembles in the corner, sweating profusely, on the verge of tears. Forzen does not want to be votekicked.
(Just kidding, Forzen probably listens to fuckin Green Day and shit like that just because he thinks it's cool. He discovers Will Wood one day through the team and goes a little bit insane? Belts I/Me/Myself in the shower and everything. He's very normal you see)

This was sent to me and I had fun, so I hope you do too!
when you get this you can post 5 songs you listen to, then send this ask to 10 of your followers/mutuals! COMPLETELY optional!!!!
! I would love to! :D
Honestly all of my 'currently playing' stuff are songs I use for workout music, so here are the current Natalie Top Hits
1 - Mob Choir: Theme for the 3rd season of MP100! I adore every OP honestly, idk how they keep doing it... (this is so high energy and fun I wanna jump for 3 minutes straight)
Cold Cold Cold - Cage The Elephant: Today's favorite bc I just watched an edit with it (edits/AMVs shaped 90% of my music taste tbh) it's funky and one of those 'I heard it on the radio a bunch years ago but suddenly now it's Special' scenarios
Run Baby Run - 2WEI: Pretty much standard movie trailer music lol BUT that's good bc I always make even more edits/AMVs in my head with music I'm listening to. I really wanna do something with this like I got the visuals and audio and cuts all my my mind but my track record says it will absolutely not come to life.
I'm gonna cheat and just say Tom Cardy in general bc his songs are goofy with a sort of 2011 humor flavor updated for Now but they slap regardless of being silly...would highly recommend Fruit Salad, Party Dog, and Flirt (with your dad) (the personal fave tbh..)
Start a Riot - Duckwrth & Shaboozey: Since @gaycey-sketchit watched Spider-Verse I've been listening to the soundtrack again so! Lots of hits in there. Elevate is also very good but this is only in the movie for like 3 seconds so maybe it needs a boost lol

yeah hi I do this a lot when listening to music but I HAVE ANOTHER POSSIBLE ENTRY FOR QUIN'S VOICECLAIM. who wants to see the potential entries? yes? put now? okay, you got it.
youtube
potential 1: this nerd. song sent by an old old friend and I refound it not long ago.
youtube
potential 2: yes I know, Penny. love her. spectacular voice. want to rub my face all over this song like a fuckin cat. bonus because Johann, the one the song is about, was Quin's crush.
youtube
potential 3: Tom Cardy is just good in general. have yet to hear a song from him that I don't love.
youtube
potential 4: listen. I just....I initially listened to the ten hour loop of this without realizing and I got an hour and a half in before my brain registered that it might be a little weirdly long, how long IS this song anyways. the idea of the announcer/narrator from Battleblock Theater being Quin's voiceclaim? fucking comedy gold.
more potentials: there have been so many more I am too lazy to track down currently just take these four for now. maybe later I'll add more. but. gods fuck.

Task Switching
Tumblr media
Growing up I’ve always had adults discourage me from multitasking. They’d say, “If you want to accomplish a task efficiently do one thing at a time Robert,” but DJing has completely altered the way I look at the brain’s ability to balance its attention on multiple things at once.
Here is a 140 second excerpt of my last College GameDay set where I transition between 5 different songs of varying speeds in distinct ways. I encourage my Brolic Army DJ School students to learn it over the Christmas holidays because achieving comfort when tasking during a DJ set brings a level of energy and excitement that generic mixing can’t!
vimeo
Transition 1
“Are You Gonna Be My Girl” into “Finesse” remix features a quick baby scratch into a 4 E AND UH (16th note) drop. The intro I use from “Finesse” is an acapella. This means the vocals you hear are absent from a drum beat I can use as a guide to match the speeds between both songs. Also, being limited to tracking what measure I’m dropping to on “Are You Gonna Be My Girl” by following handclaps that appear on the AND of every 1/4 note requires extra focus! Not to mention there are very loud guitars I have to purposely ignore to better stay in sync with the song’s tempo.
Transition 2
Here I echo out using my Rane One’s effects toggle switch on a ONE (1/4 note) then hold the right joggle wheel with my left hand while my right quickly moves to the laptop and switches from “Are You Gonna Be My Girl” (Jet) to “Genius of Love” (Tom Tom Club). In a split second, my eyes verify “Genius of Love” is engaged and I launch it on a FOUR (1/4 note). This exchange takes place in just 3 beats!!!
Transition 3
As “Genius of Love” is mixing with the “Finesse” (Bruno Mars) acapella, you’ll notice my head turn towards the laptop. You might presume my attention moves over to the laptop screen inorder to beat match by looking at the Serato waveforms but that’s not what’s happening. Carefully watch! Once I successfully merge the speed of “Genius of Love,” my right hand moves to my laptop’s keyboard to highlight the next song. Both songs are blending together for the entirety of 4 bars before I must switch again!
Transition 4
After fading out “Finesse” there are 4 bars for me to do some Rane One reconfiguration. Meaning, I have to turn the loop I previously set for the incoming Jay Z (“I Just Wanna Love You”) acapella then bounce my controller back to Hot Cue mode so I can trigger “It’s about to go down” on the ONE (1/4 note) of every bar as I perform my scratch routine). All the while remembering to adjust the pitch dial on the left jog wheel so that Jay Z’s vocals sit in the pocket properly!
Transition 5
The following 8 bars are the most physically demanding section of the set because I’m required to trigger the sample and scratch it with precision. Ironically, this portion of the routine is also the least stressful because I’m not having to think so much. That’s how automatic scratching on cue feels to me. It’s like breathing, I don’t think about it.
Transition 6
This is the final and most difficult song changeover. At the top of the 7th bar of my “It’s about to go down” scratch routine, I stop the right jog wheel with my left hand and I have 1 bar (4 beats) to switch out of “Genius of Love” to “Up”. Without hesitation I move the jog wheel’s pitch dial faster, drop “Up” on the one, swap over to the left jog wheel and proceed to incrementally slow down Jay Z’s voice to maintain pocket! When this transition happens, did you notice I had to engage the loop feature on “Up” so that Cardi B’s vocals didn’t start prematurely? After 8 bars, I disengaged the loop on “Up” and we hear Cardi start spittin’ as I echo out Jay Z’s vocals.

3, 8, 9, 13 & 18!!!
SYDNEY I AM KISSING YOU RIGHT NOW
ill put this under a read more bc unedited long posting is a cruel practise
3: How do they show their love?
Archer is suuuper affectionate to her close friends; she'll hug and kiss, hold an arm or lean on them {if they're allowed, they understand boundaries after all} or scream "I LOVE YOU!!!" at them. Especially to Belphie, it usually ends up as a cuddle pile where they can nap holding eachother. <:) She also has a knack for cooking and baking, and makes treats as a gift for others! She doesn't take out the stuff they don't like! Do it yourself whore! {affectionate}
8: What would make them end a friendship?
Generally people doing shitty things to them or someone else, like any person would. Archer can be pretty sensitive, but they also don't take shit from people. She's very stubborn in that fact, and if something hurts her, she'll make it known.
9: What song best describes the relationship they have with the person they’re closest to?
o.ok youre gonna have to like not judge me on this but uhm.,.,., https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjeF8aiQgLU
soft fuzzy man. trust me on this.
cuz like....archer is fuzzy and soft...and belphie sleeps...archer invades his dreams and he;s like fuck andn jfr iejfverivnefonvwe[bfveubontlookatme rjnervwnojoqnev
also rene is probably some tom cardy song you know what im talking about syd
13: Do they prefer to befriend people that are similar to them, or so they prefer those with different interests?
Similar! It makes Archer happier when she's able to shoot the shit with someone like them.
Of course, she has friends who have different interests, and she loves them all the same.
18: What’s their worst nightmare?
Their nightmare is probably being annoying? p generic p sadge ik but there's something about that. She gets overexcited over having friends and does everything they can to make them laugh!
She fears she'll have a day where nobody really likes her presence and they can kinda just close up at that thought.
They don't let it really get it to them though, they have fat stacks and fat ovens to spoil their friends with :p

The Rap Grammy Nominations Are Weird As Hell | Nov 25, 2020 11:12 AM BY TOM BREIHAN
The very first time that the Grammy Awards recognized rap music, it was an utter fiasco — a clear case of an aging pop-music establishment failing to understand this vital new youth music that had sprung up and rewritten the rules. For the 1989 awards show, the Grammys added one rap category, Best Rap Performance. DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince won it for “Parents Just Don’t Understand,” beating out LL Cool J and Salt-N-Pepa and Kool Moe Dee and JJ Fad. The show didn’t deign to recognize Public Enemy, N.W.A, EPMD, Slick Rick, Big Daddy Kane, Eric B. & Rakim, or Ice-T, all of whom had released classic albums within the voting window. The award wasn’t televised, and most of the nominees, Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince included, skipped the show, attending a “Boycott The Grammys” party instead.
Since that night, the history of rap at the Grammys has been a series of baffling, embarrassing decisions. It’s Steely Dan winning Album Of The Year over The Marshall Mathers LP. It’s Gretchen Wilson winning Best New Artist over Kanye West. “It’s weird and it sucks that I robbed you.” It’s also a history of rappers getting angry over the Grammys: “I never let a statue tell me how nice I am,” “You think I give a damn about a Grammy?” In 2019, Drake showed up to accept Best Rap Song. In his acceptance speech, he talked about how the Grammy voters weren’t necessarily the right people to define rap success. The broadcast cut him off mid-speech. Earlier this year, Kanye West, a man who once cared more about Grammy Awards than anyone else not named Neil Portnow, tweeted a video of himself pissing on one of his Grammys. (The Grammys still nominated West this year, for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album.)
Yesterday, the Grammys nominated Freddie Gibbs and the Alchemist’s Alfredo in the Best Rap Album category. That’s great! Freddie Gibbs is a great underground rap success story, a guy who bet on himself and kept doing great work in his own lane even after multiple major-label situations fell apart. Gibbs has never made a hit song in his life, and he’s gotten himself into a position where he doesn’t need to make hit songs — where he can just follow his instincts and keep his own style intact. Alfredo isn’t my favorite rap record of the year. (Even in the field of Alchemist-produced 2020 rap albums, I’d give the slight edge to Boldy James’ The Price Of Tea In China.) But the nomination for Alfredo is still a very cool surprise, the kind of thing that I would’ve never expected to see from the Grammy nominating committee.
youtube
And yet Gibbs’ nomination doesn’t exactly announce a new golden age of Grammy rap consideration, a time when Recording Academy voters are finally figuring out how to approach the genre. Instead, his nomination points toward something else: An institutional recognition of middlebrow, middle-aged, respectable rap music.
All of this year’s Best Rap Album nominees are Black men between the ages of 35 and 47. The oldest nominee is Nas, who is now on his fifth Best Rap Album nomination and who has never won the award. (The Best Rap Album Grammy didn’t exist in 1994, when Nas released Illmatic, but there’s no way in hell that Nas would’ve won it anyway. The Academy would’ve given the award to Coolio’s It Takes A Thief or something.) The youngest nominee is D Smoke, a former high school Spanish teacher who is also the brother of the TDE R&B singer SiR. D Smoke made his way into Grammy contention after winning the first season of Rhythm + Flow, the Netflix rap-competition show. (Two of the three judges from Rhythm + Flow, Cardi B and Chance The Rapper, have won Best Rap Album themselves. T.I., the other judge, has been nominated three times and never won.)
youtube
D Smoke isn’t exactly a revered or popular rapper, and I have’t seen anyone calling his perfectly-OK album Black Habits a masterpiece, though the man has certainly done better than anyone could’ve expected from a rap reality-show winner. But D Smoke raps exactly like a diet version of Kendrick Lamar, so his nomination works as a clear indication that the Grammy voters really, really wish they had a Kendrick album to nominate. D Smoke is also up for Best New Artist, alongside fellow rappers Chika, Megan Thee Stallion, and (I guess) Doja Cat. Presumably, Megan’s Good News would also be nominated if it had come out early enough to be eligible. Meanwhile, Chika hasn’t released an album, and Doja Cat is nominated in the pop categories, not the rap ones.
Instead, then, we’re looking at five guys hovering around the age of 40, all of whom are respected technicians with boom-bap inclinations. Jay Electronica, who’s nominated for A Written Testimony and who should probably be considered the front-runner, is technically a New Orleans native, but nobody thinks of him as a Southern rapper. (Jay-Z is all over A Written Testimony, to the point where anointing Jay Electronica feels a bit like throwing awards love to Jay-Z in a year with no Jay-Z album.) All the albums up for Best Rap Album are, at the very least, solid. A couple of them, Alfredo and A Written Testimony, are very good. But this is still a remarkably stodgy list — one that shows that the whole middle-aged respectability fetish that’s long plagued the Grammys is now embedded in its rap voting wing.
Freddie Gibbs and Nas and Jay Electronica and D Smoke and Royce Da 5’9″ are all gifted rappers who have done great work. Most of them could justifiably be considered legends. But none of them really show the world where rap music is, let alone where it’s going. By recognizing those albums, the Grammys have pointedly elected not to recognize something like Lil Baby’s My Turn, which is probably 2020’s most popular album in any genre and which is also a fine example of the 808-heavy depressive melodic-goo rap music that currently dominates the genre’s mainstream.
youtube
Other hugely popular, artistically important albums are also absent: Lil Uzi Vert’s Eternal Atake, Roddy Rich’s Please Excuse Me For Being Antisocial, Polo G’s The Goat, Gunna’s Wunna, Rod Wave’s Pray 4 Love. Instead, the rap albums getting nominated are the 2020 equivalents of the Steely Dan album that famously beat Eminem. That’s not an indictment of the nominated albums. It’s an indictment of the stuff the Recording Academy values. It’s also a cautionary look of how things might look if the Recording Academy ever gets its way, if rap comes to rely on accepted ossified skill-sets instead of its current state of constant, furious stylistic evolution.
As someone who’s around the same age as this year’s Best Rap Album nominees, I’m not all that amped to see emotionally troubled, pill-gobbling 20-year-olds dominating rap music. But those kids are crucially moving the genre past whatever old men like me might want it to be. Fortunately, there’s at least one Grammy category that has done a pretty good job capturing where things are right now, and that’s Best Rap Song. The list of nominations there — Lil Baby’s “The Bigger Picture,” Roddy Ricch’s “The Box,” Drake’s “Laugh Now, Cry Later,” DaBaby’s “Rockstar,” and Megan Thee Stallion’s “Savage” — isn’t necessarily perfect, but it’s a fairly accurate representation of the kind of rap that moves people right now. I don’t know why the division between the Best Rap Album and Best Rap Song nominees is so stark. Maybe it’s a signal that the album is increasingly irrelevant. Maybe it reflects two different voting bodies. Either way, it’s striking.
youtube
Look, the Grammys are weird. They are always going to be weird. Fiona Apple’s Fetch The Bolt Cutters should’ve been the biggest lay-up in the world, but it isn’t up for Album Of The Year. Instead, the Academy’s voters went for Coldplay and Jacob Collier and a deluxe edition of a Black Pumas album that didn’t even come out in the eligibility period. “Rockstar” and “Savage” are both up for Record Of The Year, but Post Malone’s Hollywood’s Bleeding is the only album that’s even rap-adjacent that’s nominated for Album Of The Year this year. I thought for sure that Lil Baby’s My Turn would be the token rap album that would inevitably lose to Taylor Swift. Instead, we didn’t even get one of those, and My Turn got snubbed even in its own category. Nothing makes sense.
But this year’s Best Rap Albums nominations still show a weird alignment between Grammy Voters and a certain streak of real-hip-hop rap conservatism. Watch out for that. Nothing good, except maybe a Freddie Gibbs Grammy win, will come out of that.
FURIOUS FIVE
1. Roc Marciano – “Downtown 81” It’s not on streaming services yet, but Roc Marciano’s new album Mt. Marci is out in the world now, and it is marvelous. (I can’t tell you whether the digital download is worth the $40 that Marci is charging on his website. Make your own financial decisions.) Right now, the only song out for general consumption is one of the few that Marci didn’t produce himself. (It’s a Jake One beat.) But otherwise, “Downtown 81” is exactly the sort of laid-back, intricately worded deadpan splendor that you can expect to hear on the LP, whenever it goes wide. So maybe that’s worth the price of a full tank of gas.
2. Meek Mill – “GTA” (Feat. 42 Dugg)
Meek Mill released his Quarantine Pack EP on Friday, and the track currently getting the big push is the downbeat Lil Durk collab “Pain Away.” But the real thrill here is in hearing Meek and 42 Dugg getting bracingly urgent over a Detroit-ass bassline.
3. Chief Keef & Mike Will Made-It – “Status” Sosa and Mike Will have evidently chosen to name their new song after this column. Gentlemen, I see this tribute, and I appreciate it. I love you too.
4. Willie The Kid & V Don – “Mother Of Pearls” (Feat. Eto) This is pretty.
5. Statik Selektah – “Play Around” (Feat. Conway The Machine, 2 Chainz, Killer Mike, Allan Kingdom, & Haile Supreme)
Once upon a time, maybe 13 years ago, I was apparently such a recognizable and influential part of the New York rap press that Statik Selektah noticed me at an MOP show, introduced himself, and tried to get me to listen to his mix CD. All these years later, Statik is a globally acknowledged boom-bap specialist with enough juice to put three of the world’s greatest middle-aged rappers on a track together. I’m proud of Statik. I bet he gets nominated for a Grammy someday.

Students sorted in 1992
Tumblr media
// Because...there were too few characters in the 1992 year?
I tried to keep the total number of students in each year per house at about 10, which is the what both books and movies sort of suggests. However, i did want to keep some variation in the number of boys versus girls, for a hint of realism.  I also decided to allow a few more students in the Hufflepuff house, simply because that is the house where students who don’t fulfill the requirements for the other houses, sort of fulfill the requirements for all the houses, or just fit into Hufflepuffs valued traits. To me, it makes sense that more students would be sorted into Hufflepuff, the house that welcomes all, than the other houses.  I also decided to place a few more pure-bloods in the Slytherin house, because that was a ‘trait’  that he valued. Good choice? No? Do let me know your opinion on this I’m a bit torn tbh.   If no blood-status is mentioned on a character, assume they are defined as half-bloods.  My definition of pure-blood: A wizard or witch who can trace an entirely magical heritage back at least four generations on both sides, or have no known muggleborn or muggle ancestors at all. (depends on your definition of ‘pure-blood’, individual witches and wizards will have a more strict view than others.)
Ravenclaw 1. Benjamin Yaxley  / Pure-blood / 2. Percy Peet / Muggleborn / 3. Tom Farley 4. Joel Fischer 5. Sean Anderson 6. Paul Darby 1. Luna Lovegood 2. Lizzie Doyle 3. Miriam Stepney 4. Cathy Fischer
Total: 10
Slytherin 1. Dominic Harper  /Pure-blood / 2. Duncan Gastrell 3. Edmund Runcorn / Pure-blood / 4. Hugh Moore 1. Betty Marlowe / Pure-blood / 2. Jane Ingham 3. Florence Derland 4. Emmeline Rogers / Pure-blood /  Twin to Rosaline Rogers 5. Tamsin Higgs / Pure-blood /
Total: 9
Gryffindor 1. Colin Creevey / Muggleborn / 2. Jack Byron 3. Felix  Cardy 4. Jonathan Gavin 5. Lionel Cliff 1. Ginny Weasely  / Pure-blood / 2.  Vivienne Green 3.  Lucia Leverton / Pure-blood / 4.  Bryony Moore
Total: 9
Hufflepuff 1. Christopher Hou 2. Lionel McCaughey 3. Oliver Chatham 4. Ian Dugall  / Muggleborn / 5. Daniel Hinckley /Pure-blood/ 6. Malcolm Bradley 1. Lydia Ramley 2. Rosaline Rogers / Pure-blood / Twin to Emmeline Rogers 3. Betha Quinn 4. Robin Crane 5. Natalie Ivanok / Pure-blood / 6. Alice Cliff

The Geek's Guide To Movies In 2020
New Post has been published on https://www.coolgamingzone.com/the-geeks-guide-to-movies-in-2020-6/
The Geek's Guide To Movies In 2020
Tumblr media
With 2020 looking to be a great year for video games, we wanted to look ahead at all of the movies plotted out for the new year. While the Marvel Cinematic Universe is in a state of refresh following the cataclysmic events of Endgame and Star Wars is taking a breather on the heels of The Rise of Skywalker, there are plenty of films in nerd culture to look forward to this year.
Check out our list below and start planning which ones you’re going to leave the comfort of your house for, and which you’ll probably wait until they’re streaming to see.
Winter
Tumblr media
Dolittle – January 17
We’ve previously seen the likes of Eddie Murphy and Rex Harrison take up the role of Dr. Dolittle from the Hugh Lofting children’s books, and now we get to see how Robert Downey Jr. handles the role of the doctor who gains the ability to communicate with animals. Downey is joined by Antonio Banderas and Michael Sheen as live-action actors, while a star-studded cast with the likes of Rami Malek, John Cena, Emma Thompson, Kumail Nanjiani, Selena Gomez, and more handling the animal voices. Fans of Marvel movies will even be able to enjoy a psuedo-reunion between Iron Man and Spider-Man, as Tom Holland plays Jip, a dog who wears glasses.
Bad Boys for Life – January 17
Nearly 17 years later, the long-awaited conclusion to the Bad Boys film trilogy is finally here. Will Smith and Martin Lawrence return for one last action-packed showdown, this time taking on a cartel mob boss before retiring from their jobs at the police department.
Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) – February 7
The prevailing notion of 2016’s Suicide Squad is that while it wasn’t a great film, Margot Robbie does an excellent job giving Harley Quinn her live-action silver-screen debut. While 2021 will bring a new take on the Suicide Squad with a mix of new and returning cast members, in the meantime, Robbie returns as Harley in Birds of Prey. The storyline follows the crazed clown princess after she breaks up with Joker. However, she hasn’t completely escaped trouble, as Black Mask (played by Ewan McGregor) starts stirring things up. This film promises appearances from other beloved female superheroes like Black Canary, Huntress, and more, but according to Robbie, we shouldn’t expect to see Jared Leto’s Joker appear at all.
Tumblr media
Sonic the Hedgehog – February 14
After outrage ensued following the reveal of the original design of Sonic the Hedgehog for the upcoming live-action film, Paramount pushed the release back to February 14, 2020 to create the version of Sega’s iconic blue hedgehog you see above. In addition to Ben Schwartz voicing Sonic, the live-action cast features James Marsden as Sonic’s friend Tom and Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik. In typical Sonic fashion, the story revolves around collecting rings and stopping Robotnik from conquering the world. Here’s hoping it can defy the odds and continue the trends set by live-action, game-inspired properties like Detective Pikachu of delivering an enjoyable end-product.
Onward – March 6
As the magic-using power of society diminishes thanks to the convenience of science, two teenage brothers set out on an adventure to recapture the abilities their world once wielded in order to save their father. This Pixar adventure stars Tom Holland, Chris Pratt, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and more.
Bloodshot – March 13
While Marvel and DC may reign supreme in the comic-book movie world, Valiant Comics is trying its hand at producing a blockbuster based on its property. Vin Diesel already looks and sounds (and has a name) like a comic-book character, but to this point, he’s been relegated to voicing a single line of dialogue for a sentient tree in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Bloodshot brings him out of the voice booth and into the spotlight as the eponymous technologically augmented killing machine on a quest for vengeance.
Tumblr media
A Quiet Place: Part II – March 20
The tense first part, which stars John Krasinski and Emily Blunt, delivered a compelling and daunting tale of a family trying to survive in a world invaded by blind extra-terrestrial hunters who will tear anything they hear to shreds. Krasinski returns to the director’s chair once more, with Blunt joining the remaining cast in front of the camera.
Mulan – March 27
Disney’s live-action remakes with Aladdin, Dumbo, and The Lion King have consisted of varying degrees of quality, but everything of Mulan looks terrific. Those familiar with the source material will revel in seeing iconic scenes recreated in stunning live-action sequences, while the uninitiated will be able to enjoy the tale of Hua Mulan overcoming obstacles put in her way as a result of the Imperial Chinese Army’s perception of women as she strives to join the ranks of the military in place of her ailing father.
Spring
Tumblr media
The New Mutants – April 3
Though Disney is poised to absorb the X-Men property into the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a part of its acquisition of Fox, the final 20th Century Fox Marvel film is set to release this April. The New Mutants was originally supposed to be a jumping off point for a trilogy based on the comics of the same name, but with the acquisition and Disney likely already putting things in motion to bring mutants and the X-Men into the nearly all-encompassing MCU, we’re not so sure how this fits into the Marvel puzzle.
No Time to Die – April 10
Daniel Craig takes up the mantle of 007 for the fifth time in No Time to Die. This time, he’s opposite Mr. Robot, Bohemian Rhapsody, and Until Dawn star Rami Malek. The story centers on a post-retirement James Bond who, predictably, gets sucked back into the secret agent lifestyle through the abduction of an important scientist.
Black Widow – May 1
After the events of last year’s climactic Avengers: Endgame (and the wrap up in Spider-Man: Far From Home), the Marvel Cinematic Universe has slowed down just a bit while it readies the stage for its next major narrative arc. Despite being set immediately after the events of Captain America: Civil War, Black Widow is said to serve as the jumping-off point for the next phase of the MCU. Whether that comes in the form of villain Taskmaster or some other way remains to be seen, but it will be great to finally see Natasha Romanoff take the spotlight for a long overdue solo film.
Tumblr media
Scoob! – May 15
This origin story tells the tale (tail?) of how Scooby-Doo met the Mystery Inc. gang. With movie posters featuring puppy Scooby-Doo and the film possessing an endearing computer-generated art style, Scoob! looks like a cute and fun adventure for theater-goers of all ages. Throw in a voice cast featuring Will Forte, Zac Efron, Amanda Seyfried, Tracy Morgan, Ken Jeong, and Mark Wahlburg, and you can see the studio is hoping to create something more than simply another adventure with these beloved characters.
Fast & Furious 9 – May 22
For a series that started as a story about Paul Walker and Vin Diesel racing cars illegally at night with an occasional high-speed truck heist, the recent movies sure veer closer to the superhero genre than anything else. Who knows what we’ll see in the ninth mainline entry of the series: Tanks flying through the sky? Cars backflipping over bodies of water? Vin Diesel punching through a nuclear reactor? Sure. Why not? None of the plot matters, but that doesn’t mean these movies aren’t relentlessly entertaining thrill rides, and we can’t wait for the next entry. Oh, this one has John Cena and Cardi B.
Artemis Fowl – May 29
Based on the books from Eoin Colfer, Artemis Fowl is about a 12-year-old genius who comes from a family of brilliant criminals. However, when his father mysteriously vanishes, Artemis must investigate the disappearance, which kicks off an adventure. Disney has brought in a supporting cast that features Judi Dench, Josh Gad, and more to help tell the story.
Summer
Tumblr media
Wonder Woman 1984 – June 5
As the sequel to the best film in the DC Extended Universe, Wonder Woman 1984 has lofty expectations placed on it by fans. Gal Gadot has shown to be the perfect casting for Diana Prince, and with Wonder Woman set to face off against both Maxwell Lord and Cheetah with a 1980s backdrop, it’s easy to see why this is one of the most anticipated DC live-action films in years.
Soul – June 19
Pixar makes this list for the second time with Soul, a film that features Tina Fey, Jamie Foxx, Questlove, Phylicia Rashad, and Daveed Diggs in both writer and voice-actor roles. The story is set to tell the tale of an aspiring jazz musician whose soul gets separated from his body. The dynamic duo of Atticus Ross and Trent Reznor are set to provide the score in what is sure to be a crowd-pleasing animated film.
Top Gun: Maverick – June 26
Set 30 years after the events of Top Gun, Maverick looks to do for the Top Gun series what all direct sequels that come 30 years later do: revitalize the series with a mix of heavy-handed nostalgia from the original cast while giving the audience reason to be excited for the future thanks to a charming cast of new characters. Top Gun: Maverick places a keen focus on Maverick, reprised by Tom Cruise. With a story that involves the son of Maverick’s late best friend Goose, and Val Kilmer returning to the role of Iceman, this sequel has all the nostalgic trappings fans of the original are likely looking for.
Tumblr media
Ghostbusters: Afterlife – July 10
Set 30 years after the events of Ghostbusters II, Afterlife looks to do for the Ghostbusters series what all direct sequels that come 30 years later do: revitalize the series with a mix of heavy-handed nostalgia from the original cast while giving the audience reason to be excited for the future thanks to a charming cast of new characters. As you might expect, much of the core original cast returns in unknown capacities, but we’re just excited to see Bill Murray as Peter Venkman once again – we just hope he has a bigger role in Afterlife than Luke Skywalker had in The Force Awakens.
Purge – July 10
With creator James DeMonaco saying the 2020 entry will be the final entry in the series, those who have been following the franchise are hoping the team can close it out in a satisfying manner. Unfortunately, not many details are available at the moment, but Everardo Gout is set to direct.
Tenet – July 17
Christopher Nolan films always garner a certain level of attention, but Tenet was off many fans’ radars until IMAX theatergoers were treated to an extended Prologue for the film before screenings of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. A secret agent with the ability to time travel must use his powers to prevent World War III in what is sure to be a mind-bending, action-packed film that hits way too close to home in 2020.
Tumblr media
Bob’s Burgers: The Movie – July 17
After the success of The Simpson’s Movie, Fox hopes to effectively transition another one of its beloved animated series to the silver screen with Bob’s Burgers: The Movie. The voice cast from the popular show returns for what is being described as a “musical comedy.”
Jungle Cruise – July 24
Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt headline the newest Disney film to be based on a Disney ride – hey, it worked for Pirates of the Caribbean. The group heads out into the jungle in search of the Tree of Life while avoiding dangerous wildlife and racing a rival expedition.
Morbius – July 31
Jared Leto may not be in the Birds of Prey film, but that doesn’t mean comic book fans will be completely deprived of his acting. The Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman and (former?) Joker actor steps into the role of Michael Morbius in the newest film in Sony’s Marvel Universe based on the characters surrounding Spider-Man.
Bill & Ted Face the Music – August 21
Set 30 years after the events of Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey, Bill & Ted Face the Music looks to do for the Bill & Ted series what all direct sequels that come 30 years later do: revitalize the series with a mix of heavy-handed nostalgia from the original cast while giving the audience reason to be excited for the future thanks to a charming cast of new characters. This August, Keanu Reeves will take some time out of running around Night City in Cyberpunk 2077 with us to join Alex Winter on yet another nostalgic time-travel romp.
Fall
Tumblr media
Monster Hunter – September 4
If Capcom has demonstrated one thing with its loose game-to-film adaptations, it’s that it loves Paul W.S. Anderson and Milla Jovovich. The spousal combo that ran and starred in the Resident Evil films respectively returns to similar roles in Monster Hunter. Milla Jovovich stars as Natalie Artemis, a captain in the United Nations military team. Her team falls into a portal that leads to an alternate world full of giant monsters, and the adventure begins to save Earth from the invading beasts. Did I mention it’s only loosely based on the games?
The King’s Man – September 18
A prequel to the over-the-top action franchise Kingsman, The King’s Man tells the story of a man who must stop a group of history’s worst tyrants and criminals in order to save the world from a devastating war. If you’ve seen the first two movies, you probably have an idea of what to expect, but having it set in the early 1900s and starring a completely different cast gives us something new to look forward to.

Venom 2 – October 2
Two years after one of Spider-Man’s biggest rivals kicked off Sony’s Spider-Man-less SpiderVerse, Venom is back for a direct sequel. Tom Hardy returns to the role of Eddie Brock, while Woody Harrelson looks to deliver on the post-credit tease of his interpretation of the popular and brutal villain Carnage. Additionally, rumors have circulated that Tom Holland could have a small role in the film, which would connect Spidey (and potentially the MCU) to the Sony SpiderVerse.
Snake Eyes – October 16
The G.I. Joe film franchise has been dormant since Retaliation in 2013, so it would make sense to bring it back with a prequel film telling the origin story of one of the most popular characters in the series. Previously played by Darth Maul actor Ray Park, the titular character is now portrayed by Crazy Rich Asians star Henry Golding.
The Eternals – November 6
While Black Widow kicks off Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in May, The Eternals looks to continue it by telling an extraordinarily different kind of story. Taking place over the course of multiple millennia, theatergoers will learn about this immortal alien race created by the Celestials. The Eternals also signals the entry point to the MCU for several high-profile actors including Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, Kumail Nanjiani, and Kit Harrington.

Godzilla vs. Kong – November 20
Legendary’s MonsterVerse comes to a head with Godzilla vs. Kong, the fourth film in the franchise. Bringing the Godzilla that has starred in 2014’s Godzilla and 2019’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters face to face with the King Kong from 2017’s Kong: Skull Island should be an exciting cinematic affair for those who love kaiju films. The human actors are often meant to convey that everyone is afraid and things are out of control, and Legendary has tasked Alexander Skarsgård and Millie Bobby Brown in those roles.
Dune – December 18
Based on the classic novel of the same name, Dune adapts the first half of the iconic science-fiction book with a star-studded cast. Those who watch the film will see the novel brought to life by actors like Timothée Chalamet, Oscar Isaac, Zendaya, Josh Brolin, Dave Bautista, and Stallan Skarsgård.
West Side Story – December 18
The beloved musical gets a modern interpretation. Directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Ansel Elgort and Rachel Zegler, this story of forbidden love is said to follow the original script more closely than the 1961 film many know.
Coming 2 America – December 18
Set 30 years after the events of Coming to America, Coming 2 America looks to do for the Coming to America series what all direct sequels that come 30 years later do: revitalize the series with a mix of heavy-handed nostalgia from the original cast while giving the audience reason to be excited for the future thanks to a charming cast of new characters. Eddie Murphy returns to star, joined by a star-studded cast featuring Arsenio Hall, Jermaine Fowler, Leslie Jones, Tracy Morgan, Wesley Snipes, James Earl Jones, and more.
Tom and Jerry – December 23
The timeless and iconic dynamic of Tom and Jerry makes its way to the big screen just in time to close out the year. This time, the classic animated series joins the trend of animated characters joining the live-action world. It will be interesting to see how the eternal game of cat and mouse translates to this latest cinematic trend this holiday season.
