#thank you anon I've been wanting to draw proper lizard fashion for a while and this gave me the motivation I needed#dracula daily#re: dracula#dracula#lizard fashion#The colours I chose here make Drac look like Harry Du Bois - which is appropriate given how I tend to depict his personality in my shitpost#bonus under the cut featuring Dracula's Weed Smorking Girlfriends#personally I really like the theory that the three vampire women are actually dracula's wife and two daughters#since the book never actually calls them his wives and the two subordinate girls are specifically described as looking similar to him#the idea that he turned his family but is no longer capable of loving them (or being loved by them) adds a whole extra layer for me#because he still goes through the motions - goes out to get them food (babies) and provide for them/fulfil the role of a patriarch#but its hollow and loveless and done out of strange obligation/habit - like an echo of being alive#BUT for the sake of comedy I will always draw them as his three weed smorking girlfriends because it's just funnier#or rather as I like to think of them - his three weed smoking EX-girlfriends who spend all day making fun of him and and freeloading#I'm going to tag any art with them in it from here on out as#the ex-wives of dracula#he's going to england to escape their ridicule

someone else could write it better than me but i love how the fucked up nasty shit you can make harry do/say/be in disco elysium isn't just like, random stuff caused simply by the player having free will and control over him but they're parts of who he is and who he has been
you're not a tabula rasa. you're a sudden shock of blank pages in a big, aged, damaged book and sometimes the paper you're trying to write a better man on is torn and you see something through the gaps nobody needed to see ever again. and it's just there now again, back to the surface
#sorry for some reason i feel like i write about DE better in tags than the post. idk why. TAG ESSAY AHEAD.#the gap between tags is a nigh irreplacable form of punctuation#to me#anyway#the one that really got me thinking was how failing an authority check can make you call kim a racial epithet#even if you've played a vocally anti-racist harry up to that point#that line feels like the underbelly of a calving iceberg you were never meant to see#floating to the surface as the whole thing turns and rights itself#the joyous moment is over. the celebrations end#you stop dancing and you step outside with kim#you can profusely apologise#but that thing#that piece of harry before he forgot everything#it doesn't come out of nowhere#nobody just randomly blurts out something like that#it crests the surface#and then it's just... gone again#under the waves#disco elysium#dibi

Feb 4 & 5. Prompt: Old & Hormones. Word count: 206 @jegulus-microfic
James walks into the kitchen, his hair even messier in the mornings, pillow lines still visible on his cheeks, and his glasses a little crooked. He finds Regulus sitting on their kitchen counter, sipping his tea, holding the Daily Prophet in the other hand. He slots himself right between his husband’s legs, wrapping his arms around his waist and burrowing into his chest. Regulus puts his mug and the paper down to hold James and kiss his unruly hair.
“Morning lover.”
James looks up at him and smiles. He’s starting to get smile lines, especially around his eyes, and Regulus thinks they make him even more beautiful. He holds James’ face in both hands and presses his lips against his. Of course, James perks up and pulls Regulus even closer to him, his arms still wrapped around him, and they get lost in each other.
“Eww. Get a room you two! Your’re like old now, haven’t your hormones settled yet?”
They look up to see the disgusted look on Harry’s face and they can’t help the laugh that bursts out of them.
“Fucking teenagers” Harry mumbles as he goes to make his own coffee.
“Harry! Language!” he hears his parents simultaneously yell, their smiles still audible.

I occasionally see posts/get messages about the various harry potter references in the bright sessions, etc. and I've gotten a bunch of new followers recently so just so any new/younger listeners of my shows know:
jk rowling is a terrible transphobe whom I hold zero respect for and I haven't given a dime of my money to her since she revealed who she truly is. I want the whole bright universe to be a safe space for trans people (including the trans folks in our cast and crew!) and if I could go back and remove those references, I would. but I can't! harry potter was an extremely significant part of my life until...well, until it became very clear who she really was. it makes me so sad to think that folks might be finding TBS now and get thrown out of the story by these references, but just know that the people who made the show do not stand by jk, and that in many ways, the show is a product of its time.

I wanted to give her a chance to learn and grow#and she did....not do that#but TAMA was written in that little grace period#and then a few references in TCT were taken out during recording bc june of 2020 was when she really started to go mask off#and so we were making changes in real time#we didn't know what to do about quidditch#bc we were like 'this is a sport that people play in college and it's just called that?'#'and it's already canon that caleb plays?'#and it wasn't called quadball yet#anyway not trying to make excuses!#just know that none of those references were put in with any malice#and I guess I *could* go back and rerecord all those lines and replace them#but I know enough about my original audio engineering to know that it woudl be VERY hard to make it sound natural#and idk I do think there's something to be said for not covering up errors in old work#I'm not going to try to pretend HP wasn't important to me#EDIT: I've turned off reblogs for this post#also this is not me trying to tell other people how to approach their own HP fandom#fanworks especially - there's no benefiting jo in that - and I think it's totally legit for ppl to want to take HP as their own!

harry definitely not heterosexual potter is the funniest thing to me because i literally cannot remember a single time in the book where he thinks “i should probably be nervous about draco trying to kill me because i am literally convinced that he is willingly working with voldemort.” no. he was like “oh draco? yeah he is definitely working for voldemort and he is so evil because did you see the way he is combing his hair now? probably switched shampoo. he would never change conditioner, that thing works wonders. what do you mean, this is common knowledge. anyway, he is so evil and definitely working for voldy. but of course he won’t kill me, are you crazy? who would he talk to across the great hall? like literally you don’t even understand.” and everyone just WENT WITH IT.
Hahahahaha I KNOW! Would he feel this safe around literally any other person who he suspected of being in league with Voldemort? I think tf not!
Even once Draco has Harry incapacitated and totally at his mercy on the train Harry at no point thinks that he's in danger. Even after Draco breaks his nose he doesn't think it. After that incident Harry still is all 'can't wait to break into the Room of Requirement BY MYSELF while Draco is in there so I can see what secret evil mission he's working on for Voldemort' and at no point does he worry that going in without backup could end badly. And HE'S RIGHT. When Draco has Harry at his mercy he never seriously harms him and risks everything multiple times in book 7 to protect him. This is NOT Harry seeing Draco with rose tinted glasses. This is Harry deeply and intimately understanding that Draco will not hurt him and feeling comfortable around him on an instinctual level despite every reason he has not to.
And let's not forget why Harry finally stops investigating Draco in 6th year. It's not because he decides he's wrong about his whole "Draco is a Death Eater on a mission from Voldemort" theory nor is it because he gets worried that since Draco is a Death Eater on a mission from Voldemort looking into this could get Harry or his friends hurt. No. He stops because his investigation leads to Draco getting hurt. And Harry is so horrified by this that he completely backs off and gives up trying to stop the super secret evil mission from Voldemort that Harry is sure Draco is on. Harry is like 'foiling an evil plot masterminded by Voldemort himself isn't worth it if it could lead to me hurting Draco.' He really said 'I can excuse putting myself in mortal danger on a regular basis to stop Voldemort's plots but I draw the line at Draco being upset.' In canon.
And yeah Harry cares about people in general but not to this extent. When Umbridge gets carried off by centaurs Harry doesn't even think of going after her. He's just like 'lmao bye bitch.' He straight up KILLS Quirrell in first year and when he finds out he's like 'well that sucks for him.' Tons of Death Eaters get hurt and maimed at the Department of Mysteries and Harry never even stops to check if they're ok. In second year he forces Lockhart to enter the Chamber of Secrets first in case there's a Basilisk waiting at the bottom of the chute.
But anytime he sees Draco in danger he does whatever he can to help without even thinking about it. From the time in first year in the Forbidden Forest when he immediately throws his arm out to stop Draco walking towards Voldemort to 7th year when he risks his own life and that of his friends to pull him out of the fiendfyre and reveals his presence while running through the battle so he can stun a Death Eater threatening Draco. And he does it automatically, without a second thought because Harry can't fathom a world where he wouldn't protect Draco.
