very excited about finally making one of these again, especially considering that one of my favorite dynamics in sansûkh is gimli and legolas unlearning everything they’ve been taught re: elves and dwarves, and thorin simultaneously learning to overcome not only what he’s learned, but what he’s experienced re: elves as well.

Hello there !! Thank you so much for your interest in our story ;-; My partner ( @zadi-jyne ) and I are the blogs involved in this project!!
The Sanctuary’s Shadow is a OC story heavily inspired by the universe and lore of the Cardfight Vanguard TCG. Basically taking the limited amount of characters and lore there was, and adapting it into a full little story ( ´ ▽ ` )
The main story follows a set of three characters, Junos, Baara and Aedrix; their relationships to each other, and themselves. To summarize basically, Junos is a grumpy but well meaning knight, Aedrix is a vengeance demon who is exploring her new freedom after she got her revenge, and Baara is a (former?) assassin with a big heart.
The exact timeline is still being worked on, but basically it picks up when they first meet, and follows them in their developing relationship and adventures （＾∇＾） Love is hard and they’re a bunch of bafoons so it takes them a while to figure things out haha; character relationships are my favorite things to write so that’s really what I like focusing on ;//; Someday I’d love TSS to be a webcomic, but I am a collect student and I have no time at the moment 😩

What a weekend! I'm home from the 2024 JUNO awards in Halifax and my hamstrings are still recovering from the enormous hill that Halifax is built into... but it was an incredible experience! The red carpets, the awards dinner, the broadcast, and more - it's a surreal experience to be in a room with hundreds of other people knowing that every single of them is an absolute badass on stage, while simultaneously being such a wonderful experience when there's not an ego in the room - everyone, big and small, came to the table friendly, open, and supportive. It was both inspiring and heart warming.
Nick Maclean Quartet feat. BROWNMAN ALI didn't win our category, but I'm very honoured to have lost to Hilario Duran and his Latin Big Band, who's Grammy-nominated record "Cry Me A River" is just spectacular! In fact I'd have felt honoured to lose to any of the giants who were nominated alongside us in our category - I was surrounded by my heroes and mentors. Heros like:

Canadian Jazz Collective - "Septology"
Mike Murley & Mark Eisenman Quartet - "Recent History"
I had an enormous amount of fun catching up with folks I haven't seen in ages like Noam Lemish, Mike Murley, Denielle Bassels, Caity Gyorgy, Levi Dover, Jenna Marie, and Andrew Jackson.
As well as meeting or reconnecting with new friends like Allison Au, Jocelyn Gould, Laila Biali-Wittman, Hilario Duran, Ben Wittman, Jon Maharaj, Will Bonness, Iman Habibi, Ewen Farncombe, Alex Bird, Mark Limacher, Markus Floats, James Goddard, Jhamiela Smith, and Begonia.
And I know I'm forgetting tons of people because the weekend was more than a bit of a whirlwind!
It was so good to spend lots of time with my bandmates Brownman Ali & Jacob Wutzke (Ben Duff we missed you buddy!), and my amazing wife Erin Brooks who was our on-the-ground publicist!
