Team Red: Carmen Sandiego, Player, Zack, Ivy, Shadowsan
Aurinko Crime Family: Juno Steel, Buddy Aurinko, Vespa Ilkay, Peter Nureyev, Rita, Jet Sikuliaq & the Ruby 7
Team Red:
Sometimes a family is a skilled super thief, her grumpy mentor, these two siblings she met in Boston and a white hat hacker!
bc i love this fucking show and they're so silly. it's like shadowsan taking care of 4 children (theyre all grown ups) and its so funny. I don't think there's a picture of the 5 of them together since player usually talks through his phone without leaving his house so i had to look up the pngs and make one myself with their canon heights.
Aurinko Crime Family:
Queer! Space! Pirates!! It's kinda your typical "it started as a heist but along the way we became family" story, but in space. And not a single person is cishet. An ex private investigator and sharpshooter with only one eye, his very cool and smart hacker assistant and ex lover thief who he ran away from, because he has problems basically get adopted by a cool crimeboss lady with a metal stomach, her wife, who is a doctor and also generally pro stabbing people, and a big dude, who gives great, but often cryptic advice. Oh, also a car that isn't a car. All of their dynamics are awesome. Buddy definitely has mom vibes. Juno and Vespa definitely have a sibling dynamic. The movie nights. Aaaaaaaahhh!
and on the right you can see juno steel in his natural habitat, on a deadly case as a private eye with rita, enjoying the aesthetic of a brooding detective, running after people shooting at him, and tracking down a certain master thief
If I had a nickel for every broody PI that monologues to themself and is a certified Lady that wears a signature jacket- I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot but it's a little strange that it's happened twice.
I've realised that I have, unfortunately, developed a favourite character archetype in the form of:
"Sopping wet Private Eye full of too much self loathing and a sprinkling of queer energy"
Now this sounds incredibly niche but I have three lined up right here! We got Arthur Lester (Malevolent), Juno Steel (Penumbra) and Jacob Hartliss (SCP The Chicago Spirit)
It’s like. It’s like. AGAHAGAHAGAG. I’ll never be over Murderous Mask. I’ll never be over it. No matter how many times I listen to it, it’s like. It wasn’t supposed to go like that. From everything we know about Nureyev, stealing the mask was supposed to be an easy job. First of all, he was supposed to be able to steal the mask without ever having to be seen, in and out. But he ended up in the middle of a murder case. So instead, he had to disguise as a Dark Matters agent, and under the guise of investigating the case with a private eye, cover his tracks while successfully stealing the mask.
Which is still like. He managed to do all of that. But then what he really didn’t expect was Juno. Juno was supposed to be just another mark. Nureyev is good at manipulating people, at making people he think he cares about them, then using them for his own means. We have absolutely seen that. Juno should’ve been like that old man from Recipe For Disaster. But somewhere along that day when they first met, Peter Nureyev let the mask slip, and he fell in love with his mark. Because it was Juno Steel. I will just NEVER be over the fact that Juno was that special. That their first meeting was that special to Nureyev (which he specifically cites as one of the best days of his life). Nureyev had no reason to give Juno his name. He shouldn’t have done it at all. It’s only made Nureyev’s job harder. But he did it anyways. Because he loves Juno from the start.
