At the very end of the recent Judge John Hodgeman podcast episode Criminal Elm-ement he mentions wanting fantasy-themed disputes to adjudicate. An example given was
“Which is the wildest Wheel of Time? (Never read any of those.)”
So not only is this is a perfect chance to hash out your beef with me on a podcast (I’m kidding please don’t do this unless we’re mutuals and then let’s talk) I also now need to know which is the wildest WoT book.
To make it fit in a Tumblr poll, I am sticking to the original Jordan books 1-11 and also merging books 10 and 11 because it makes the most sense narratively to smash them together.

TIL that the name of Hector's wife, Andromache, means "man-battler". A married couple whose names mean "to bluster, one who teases and vexes" and "man-battler". 😂🤣😂🤣
Concept: Hector and Andromache Troy, a couple whose mutual love language is ridiculous, zero stakes arguments a la "how to pronounce egg"...

Ooo podcast recs! I’ve only listened to a couple here or there, but my roommate LOVES podcasts so here is a mix of ones I love and the roomie loves as well
From Me:
1) Commit or Quit - a short run series from Eric Nam and his brothers, where during the Covid-19 lockdowns in 2020 they watch a suggested tv show or movie (such as Snowpiercer, Tiger King, or Train to Busan) and decide if it’s worth committing to watching fully OR quitting it entirely. Eric is such a delight and so funny.
2) Wait Wait…Don’t Tell Me - a hilarious news quiz show where comedians have to guess the right answer about what happened that week in the news
From the roommate:
• Ridiculous History; • Weirdest Thing I Learned This Week; • Hello From The Magic Tavern; • Wonderful; • Judge John Hodgeman; • Dumb People Town
Hope that helps and that you enjoy them! 💜
added to the list~ 😊 thank you!

idk if you listen to judge john hodgman but he has a very firm stance on the ideal sleeping arrangement in any serious romantic relationship being two separate villas joined by a shared reflecting pool and honestly i agree.
Oh my god .. Shared reflecting pool... He's fuckin ON TO SOMETHING!!!

i love maximum fun dot org which is why they get 10 dollars of my income every month but i hate how they coordinate their promos on EVERY single show so that if you listen to a lot of their shows you have to listen to the same promos for the same podcasts over and over which if you’re hearing them that much you’re probably also listening to the show mentioned in that week’s promo

Bro, Hera playing dubstep during a space fight and everything's fine until The Base Drops.
this is amazing & absolutely canon. i won’t hear any objections. this is the sound of a gavel: [kanan screaming at hera over the dubstep blasting through the ghost that he doesn’t want to go deaf too]

Ok, I just have to get this off my chest because it’s been bothering me.
I listen to a lot of podcasts and lately there’s been a lot of ads for a new one called “Food Court” hosted by Richard Blais where he does a Judge John Hodgeman type thing by having two people who disagree on some kind of food preference and he decides who’s right or something. Like two people who can’t agree about whether pineapple is good on pizza or if ketchup belongs on hot dogs.
I HATE THIS WHOLE IDEA. Food is subjective. I HATE when people tell me what I’m eating is gross. I have my preferences. You have yours. And you know what? WE ARE BOTH RIGHT!
This show sounds like a nightmare and I’m getting upset just thinking about it.
There. I said it. Now I feel better.

Tens
I had kind of a tough 2019 and did not have the will/energy to write about most of the things that happened or the things I did. It was a Soldier Through And Hopefully Come Out The Other Side kind of year.
I can at least come up with some end of year lists though, and mention some of the things I never got around to posting here. Unless stated otherwise these lists are in order of preference but I did not sweat that order very much, so left them unnumbered.
Movies from 2019 that I recommend: (This is without a doubt my worst list, I did not see many movies this year. When I get caught up this list will be probably entirely different)
US
Little Women
Knives Out
Captain Marvel
IT Part 2
Velvet Buzzsaw
Toy Story 4
Endgame
Rocketman
Ten strongest albums from 2019
Sharon Van Etten - Remind Me Tomorrow
Ladytron - Ladytron
Carly Rae Jepsen - Dedicated
Tyler, the Creator - IGOR
Weyes Blood - Titanic Rising
Sigrid - Sucker Punch
Jamila Woods - Legacy! Legacy!

Ten songs I loved in 2019 (that were not on the above albums)
King Princess - Prophet
Big Thief - Not / Cattails (a tie)
Billie Ellish - Bury A Friend
The National - Light Years
Aly & AJ - Church
Dua Lipa - Don’t Start Now
Ohmme - Give Me Back My Man
FKA Twigs - Cellophane
HAIM - Summer Girl
Hatchie - Stay With Me
Ten TV Shows I loved in 2019
Fleabag
Russian Doll
Watchmen (note: I am only on episode 2 but I am confidently placing it at Number 3 right now, to my UTTER SHOCK as I didnt even want this to exist)
The Expanse
The Good Place
Schitt’s Creek

True Detective
Los Espookys
Umbrella Academy
Also: His Dark Materials, Stranger Things, Dark, One Day at a Time

Spiderman (PS4 version)
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
Red Dead Redemption II
Death Stranding
The fact that there are only 4 listed here should tell you how absorbed I was by all four of these. Next on deck: the Outer Worlds
And that was my year. I also traveled to Barcelona and Rome, got a big promotion, subsequently was left holding the bag when everything fell apart at work, a family member died fairly badly, was depressed, had a lot of writers block, also wrote more than I ever have, turned 40, and a whole lot of other stuff that is kind of a blur and other stuff too personal to get into, but it was A Lot. Here’s hoping 2020 is Not As Much, or at least I handle it better.
