“okay, flour, eggs, milk.. what else are missing?” you ask observing the ingredients in front of you, moving them around to make sure nothing was hidden.
“are the strawberries on the table? oh man, we almost forgot the butter too!” your boyfriend remembers walking to the fridge, reaching for the said items.
you and your boyfriend joshua have been together for three years and the two valentine’s days you’ve spent together have been nothing short of wonderful. for the past two years, you’ve gone out on valentine’s day, but after he came back from a recent europe trip, both of you decided to stay at home this year. you wanted to give him some time to relax and get readjusted to being back at home.
in recounting his europe adventures, he told the story of the time he took a cooking class in rome. he made four different pastas from scratch, all with delicious sauces and wine pairings. hearing joshua tell you of his experience with the excitement and joy made your heart swell, which led you to an idea.
“hey josh, instead of going out this year, why don’t we make our own dinner at home? it sounds like a lot of fun from what you just told me. ooh! we could even bake something too! i’ve been looking at a ton of new recipes lately!”
your boyfriend sweetly laughs at your enthusiasm and kisses your forehead, “let’s do it then! we’ll have a nice candlelit dinner at home this year.”
back in the present, you two have finally gathered all the ingredients to get started with your dessert course - vanilla cookies with a strawberry cream icing. since dinner wouldn’t take as long to make, you decided to get the dessert portion out of the way first.
“hmm let’s see, i’ll work on the flour mixture first, do you wanna work on the icing?” you ask joshua, setting the stainless steel bowls out on the counter. “sure! can you pass me the heavy cream and sugar?”
soon, a comfortable silence surrounds the kitchen, the two of you working side by side, mixing and whisking ingredients together. there is one moment where you accidentally reach for the butter at the same time, gently laughing together as joshua rubs your hand, admiring your soft, delicate skin. you can’t help but blush at the feeling of his hand on top of yours.
more time passes and now, you’re working on molding the shape of the cookies together. joshua is just about done with the icing as well, testing the ribbons of cream as it drips off the whisk and back into the bowl.
“babe,” he turns his head toward you, still focused on flattening what is now your sixth cookie. you hum in response, not looking up just yet. “can you taste the icing for me? i think it’s done, but it might be missing something.”
you finish molding your cookie and quickly grab a spoon from your utensil drawer. you scoop a small bit of icing on the edge of the spoon, nearly melting at the sweet taste and smooth texture of the icing dancing across your mouth.
“josh, this tastes so good!” you exclaim happily, scraping a bigger spoonful this time, giddy as ever as you put the spoon to your mouth again, loving how everything combined to make such a delicious icing. “you did amazing baby! it has the right of amount of sweetness and everything!”
this time, joshua can’t help but blush at your continuous flow of praise, but he also couldn’t help but get hot from watching you taste the icing - your cute lips pressing together and the humming you made the second time you taste tested was not helping the rush of blood that went down to his body.
joshua quickly notices that you have a little speck of icing left on your lips, quickly seizing it as an opportunity to give into temptation and get his hands on you.
“hey baby, you have a little something right-“ he drags out the last word as he holds your jaw with his right thumb gently, his soft, gentle lips meeting yours. the kiss takes you by surprise, but you quickly melt into your boyfriend’s touch as you tilt your head to give him more access inside of you. the two of you establish a rhythm for a few moments until you pull away first, slightly breathless and a pleasant, heavenly daze taking over your body.
“there,” joshua finishes, chuckling as he holds you by your waist, lifting you up so you can sit on the edge of the counter. he swipes his left thumb across your lips and licks his own while you watch, the motion sending arousal down your spine.
he doesn’t hesitate to kiss your neck soon after, quietly moaning as his lips nibbled on your body’s sensitive spots. you push your bowl full of cookie dough to the side as joshua’s hands come underneath your tank top, roaming your soft skin.
with ease, he takes off the piece of clothing, lips moving from your neck to the center of your chest. this time joshua becomes bolder, letting his tongue get some action as he licks and sucks on the space between your breasts.
“sh-shua.. shua, o-ohhh,” you moan out louder this time, wanting him to hear how good he’s making you feel. you’re so caught up in the pleasure that he was giving your chest that you don’t even notice his fingertips walking along your thighs, then underneath your skirt - and eventually to your panty line.
before you can even say anything, joshua’s fingers pull the waistband back and let it go, snapping against your waist. you gals and bite your lip in pleasure as your body goes slightly forward and joshua smirks in return. his fingers continue to tease at your panties, the pink lace nearly making him form heart eyes in front of you.
“you’re so pretty for me,” he breathes out, dragging your panties to the side with two fingers. “always, so, so pretty,” he repeats as he slowly inserts another two fingers inside of your core, chuckling at how wet you already are.
“coating my fingers and i haven’t even started with you yet,” he scoffs. “just a needy little girl, aren’t you?”
“only for you,” you whine back with doe eyes. “only you make me this wet.”
“good to know,” he smiles as he starts pushing his fingers in and out at a steady pace, your whines becoming more breathy and high pitched. “mmmm, more, shua - please, more…” you request, eyes starting to glisten like diamonds.
“i’ve thought about this before.. taking you down in the kitchen, especially while i was away taking those cooking classes.. just even imagining you pressing up against me while prepping the ingredients was enough to get me hard,” joshua confesses. “seeing you get so excited over the icing, i couldn’t help my myself baby,” he softly smiles as he holds you by your chin again and kisses you, this time, his fingers making a circular motion inside of you.
whatever noises you release now are deep inside of his mouth, craving for more of him as you entwine your tongue with his once again. you feel the pressure in your body start to build, knowing that you were going to come soon.
joshua then begins a scissoring motion in your pussy, the highest pitched noises you didn’t even know you could make were pouring out of your mouth like a river. you were practically panting joshua’s name out now, begging for him to make you come, promising you will come like a good girl.
after one particularly good thrust, you release all over his fingers, coating them in your deliciousness. you pant into his chest, leaning forward as you take in his scent again, trying to regain your breath, but not wanting to come down from the amazing high.
“i don’t know what tastes better, you or the icing,” joshua teases when you sit up, looking into his eyes.
“you flatter me,” you playfully roll your eyes as you hold his hand, turning around to take a look at the clock. “well, we still have some time left before we actually start cooking the main course.. did you wanna-“
before you can even finish your sentence, he hoists you up again, and laugh, legs immediately wrapping around his waist as he walks you to the bedroom.
“i haven’t even done half the things i wanted to do with you yet this valentine’s day.. c’mon my pretty girl,” joshua swoons, moving your hair from your eyes. “dinner can wait just a bit longer.”

Letting Her Go // JTK
Tumblr media
Characters: Jake x Fem!reader Warnings: As always, 18+ so minors, please DNI! Angst. Heart break. Drinking. Swearing. Smut. Kissing. Sex. Penetrative sex (p in v). Unprotected sex.
Summary: Jake makes the mistake of letting you go. You come back to collect your things and having the closure you both don't want but need to do.
Hearing the front door open and close, you perk up on the couch and see Jake fly past the threshold of the living room and to the kitchen where you hear him rummaging through the fridge. Pushing off the couch, you go into the kitchen to find him filling a cooler with beer and ice.
“You’re going back out?” You ask as you lean against the doorframe of the kitchen.
“Uh.. Yeah..” He bustles around the area as he gathers more cold items and puts them inside the cooler. “Josh is inviting people over for a bonfire, super small.”
“Oh, okay. Should I-”
“I’m sorry babe, it’s only for work.” He says as he approaches you and kisses your cheek.
“Oh..”
“I promise I won’t be out late,” He says as he goes back to the cooler and pulls it off the counter. “I love you.” He gives you another kiss before disappearing out of the kitchen.
“I love you…” The door shuts as you speak and your shoulders slump. “..too..”
Huffing and looking around the kitchen, you go over to the stove and turn off the burner and move the pan to the side. You pull the lid from the pan, allowing the steam to flow up into the air. You cooked one of his favorites, one you texted him about and he responded with his excitement. Seems like you’ve been placed on the back burner… Again.
It had been a few hours since Jake had left for the bonfire. You had cleaned a little, showered, and now relaxing in the living room with a movie playing in the background. It wasn’t until you were scrolling through instagram when you saw Sam’s partner post a video on her story. You sit at the sight of Josh’s backyard. She was filming a video of everyone gathered around the fire pit. She’s there? But Jake said it was only for work. So why was she there?
It only got worse when you saw Danny’s and Josh’s partners gathered around the fire.
You begin to wonder why he lied to you? And also what bullshit lie he told his brothers when you didn’t come with him?
Locking your phone, you toss it to the other side of the couch before leaning forward on your knees.
Thoughts raced through your head, anger and hurt surged through your veins. You didn’t realize you had been sitting there for as long as you have until you heard the front door open. You didn’t want him to see you like this, so you quickly made your way to the bathroom and shut the door.
A knock comes on the door a few minutes later. “Babe?”
“Yeah?”
“I’m heading to bed, are you coming up?”
“Uh yeah.. Just uh.. Give me a few minutes.”
“Okay..”
You listen to his footsteps as he makes his way towards the stairs and climbs them to the second floor. Coming out of the bathroom, composed and calm, you make your way upstairs to the bedroom. He’s already in the bed by the time you get up there. Light snores fill the silence.
Grabbing your phone again, you open a new thread with Josh.
‘Are you awake?’
Josh: Hey! Yeah, I’m still awake. Too much energy. We missed you tonight at the bonfire! Are you feeling better?
So he told them I was sick?
‘Oh uh, yeah yeah I’m feeling better.. I’m sorry I couldn’t make it..’
I wasn’t allowed to come.
Josh: Oh no! Don’t worry about it! Will I see you this weekend?
This weekend? What’s this weekend?
‘I’m not sure, actually. I made plans with my sister.’
Josh: Oh bummer! I thought Jake told you a couple weeks ago, he said he would! But hey not a big deal! We’ll have to plan for something soon to get together, I miss hanging out with you!
‘Of course! Goodnight Josh.’
Josh: Goodnight!
Putting your phone down, you glance over at Jake. Why is he keeping you from everything? Not including you anymore? What happened? Did you do something that you aren’t aware of? Does he not love you anymore or want to be with you? Oh god.. What if this is his way of trying to break up with you without actually having to do it? Maybe if he keeps freezing you out then you’ll leave?
The anxiety rittles your body and you find yourself not able to sleep.
You had woken up the next morning before Jake so you took the opportunity to ask your sister to meet you for breakfast. Coming home though afterwards, you find Jake in the kitchen and drinking coffee. He glances up at you and lowers the mug to the counter.
“I woke up and you were gone,” He says as you hang your keys on the hook. “Where were you?”
“Went out to breakfast with my sister,” You say. “I brought you this back though.” You were nice enough to grab him his favorite bagel and a muffin, both of which were still warm when you got back to the house.
“I already ate..” He mumbles.
“Oh… Okay..”
He stands from the island stool and cleans out his mug before placing it in the dishwasher. “I’ll be gone this weekend,” He says. “Still hanging out with your sister?”
“Yeah uh, about that. I was hoping maybe I could come with you?”
“Babe, it’s just us guys..” He says as he turns to face you.
“Oh.. Well, the only reason why I asked was because Josh thought I’d be coming too..”
“You talked to Josh?” You nod your head. “When did you talk to Josh?”
“Last night.” You say as you fold your arms over your chest. “Which is interesting, because he also told me that they missed me last night because I was sick.. Care to explain?”
Jake lowers his head and fidgets with the hem of his shirt. “I didn’t know they were bringing their partners,” He says. “If I had known, I would have brought you with me.. So instead of seeming like an asshole for not bringing you along, I told them you were sick..”
“You could have called..” You mumble. “I would’ve come over.. And this weekend? Is it really just the guys?” You ask. “Or do you just not want me to go?”
“Babe..” He sighs.
“Don’t babe me, Jake,” You say. “And don’t lie to me either. What the fuck is going on? I’ve been so confused and hurt for the last few months because it always seemed like I wasn’t invited to things anymore but in reality you just don’t want me there.”
Your eyes begin to fill with tears and you shake your head.
“If this is your way of trying to get rid of me–it’s fucking cruel, Jake.. Just fucking tell me if you don’t want me to be with me anymore. Tell me you don’t love me so I can just leave. Fuck.. I’m tired of being left out of things, I’m tired of sitting at home wondering what the fuck I did to be treated like this.”
A tear slips down your cheek and you quickly wipe away. He hadn’t spoken a word. He just stands there twisting his shirt.
“Fucking say something!” You shout, slamming your hand on the counter top.
He lifts his head, revealing tears in his eyes. Your shoulders drop and you step back from the island.
“It’s not been easy..” He says. “I love you, I really fucking do–but..”
“But what?”
“I think we need some time..”
“Some.. Some time?” You say. “What did I do?”
He violently shakes his head. “You didn’t do anything, I just.. I just need some time to figure out what it is that I want.”
“And I’m not what you want, am I?”
“I’m sorry..”
You straighten up and turn on your heels without another word and calmly make your way up the stairs to the bedroom. Grabbing a bag, you begin to fill it with some of your things. Feeling him in the room, you pause and glance over your shoulder.
“You don’t have to leave..” He says.
You toss a shirt into the bag and zip it up before going into the bathroom and grabbing your toothbrush and essentials. You come back out to find him sitting on the edge of the bed with his head buried  in his hands.
Grabbing your bag and slinging it over your shoulder, you pull out your keys and take the house off of the metal ring and hold it out to him. He looks up at you, his eyes growing red and his chin quivering.
“Don’t do that, Jake..” You shove the key into his hand. “Don’t sit there and cry. This is on you.” Turning on your heel, you start for the door before stopping and turning back to face him. “You can change this, you know.. But I am warning you. Once I step out the front door, I'm not coming back.”
When he doesn’t say anything or give you any kind of acknowledgment, you nod your head and turn to leave. Your hand rests on the door handle of the front door, hesitant to even want to leave. But he’s made it clear to you, with little to no words.
Yanking the door open, you step outside and take one last look in hopes that he’d be coming down the stairs after you. But he isn’t. There’s only silence. Pulling the door closed, you make it to your car before the tears finally hit and roll down your cheeks like a waterfall. It wasn’t until you were driving away did you see him appear outside.
He stood on the front porch, his hands at his sides balled into fists. Part of you wanted to turn the car around and go back but the other part of you, the dominant part, kept your foot on the gas pedal moving your car further and further away until he was no longer in your line of sight.
–Two Months Later-
Jake
..
He drops an empty bottle of beer into the trash can before retrieving another one from the fridge. There wasn’t a day he had ever left the house. Not since the day you left. The day he let you walk away without a fight.
He knew he made a mistake. The moment he heard your car start up, he knew.
Most people go through a midlife crisis when they’re older. Significantly older than he is now. You could’ve worked things out. He could’ve made that decision but he’s the undecisive one. And making a decision so drastic that affects his whole life and his future, he can’t do it. He shuts down, he removes himself from the situation. Or in this case, his relationship.
He hasn’t heard from you, nor did he ever expect to. You don’t answer his phone calls or even respond to texts. It wasn’t until one day that he got a response to one of his text messages but it wasn’t you. It was someone else, explaining to him that he had the wrong number.
Wrong number?
You changed your number?
No one had your new number. Not even Josh.
Josh.
Fuck.
He wasn’t happy with Jake. He lost one of his best friends. They had a heated argument and didn’t speak for a couple weeks but eventually Josh being Josh couldn’t stand being angry anymore and they made up.
Popping the lid off of the bottle, he chugs down half of it before setting it down on the counter and pulling out his phone. He starts to dial your number only to remember that it won’t be you on the other end. He drops it back on the counter and finds himself slowly sinking to the floor where he’s ended up multiple times.
He hadn’t realized he had fallen asleep until he was shaken awake by Josh. Worry paints his face as he stares at Jake from above him, his hands holding both of his shoulders.
“Oh thank god..” He breathes in relief as he pulls Jake up into a sitting position.
“What are you doing here?”
“I was worried about you.” He says. “You missed a band meeting that was scheduled for today.. No one could get a hold of you. And I come here only to find you passed out.”
“I fell asleep..”
Josh waves the beer bottle in front of Jake’s face. “Fell asleep.. My ass. Come on.. Get up.” He says as he pulls Jake up to his feet. He dumps the beer into the sink before directing Jake to the stairs and pulling him to his room. He sits him down on the bed and moves to his closet to get him fresh clothes.
“Why are you changing me?” Jake says as Josh tosses a shirt and a clean pair of jeans at him.
“Because..”
“Because why?” Jake grumbles.
Josh takes a deep breath. “I ran into her today…” Josh exhales.
Jake straightens up, his eyebrows furrowing as he stares at his brother. “You saw her?”
Josh nods his head. “She mentioned needing to come back here—to get her things..”
“Why did she wait so long?”
“I don’t know, Jake..” Josh sighs. “Maybe she never came back after you let her leave like that..”
Jake huffs and shakes his head. “I thought we moved on from that..”
Josh runs a hand through his hair. “We did… I’m sorry…” He drops his hands to his sides. “But you need to get dressed, make yourself look not so…you know..” He starts to go for the bedroom door before stopping and turning around. “And trim your facial hair. You look like you’ve been wandering the desert.”
Walking up the driveway towards the front door, your heart pounds in your chest. It’s been two months since you’ve left here–refusing to come back to get your things, unable to see him. You clench your fists at your sides to control their shaking as you lift your hand to knock on the door.
It took a few minutes before the door was being pulled open. Standing there dressed neatly with sunglasses resting over his eyes is Jake. You notice his facial hair has grown out more than it was before, connecting completely around his mouth and covering his chin.
“Hi..” You breathe out, giving him a slight nod of your head.
He returns the nod and steps aside to let you inside. “I uh, boxed up everything that I could find.” He says, clearing his throat and rubbing the back of his neck. “Although you’re welcome to look around to make sure I didn’t miss anything.”
“Uh.. Thank you.” You say as you pick up a box. “I guess I’ll just take this out to the car.”
He offers to help you, carrying each box out to your car. When the last box is brought out, you reach up to close the trunk door. He stands idly by in the driveway with his hands stuffed into the pocket of his jeans. He rocks gently back and forth.
“Umm… Well, if you happen to find my sweater–let me know..” You say, giving him a light giggle. “You know that it’s my favorite.”
A smile tugs at his lips and he nods his head. “I know it is.. But if you have time, you can go look.”
“It’s late,” You say, shaking your head. “I’m already taking up too much of your time.”
Jake shakes his head. “It’s okay, really..” He says. “It won’t take too long.”
“Oh uh.. If you’re sure..” You stammer.
“Yeah, I’m sure.” He says with a slight nod of his head.
He leads you back into the house and upstairs to the bedroom. You pause in the doorway as he keeps walking towards the laundry basket in the corner of the room. You realize you hadn’t moved or acknowledged him walking back over to you until you hear him speaking.
“It’s kind of wrinkled,” He awkwardly chuckles. “Sorry about that..”
You lift your head to look up at him as you slowly take the sweater from his hand. You couldn’t stop yourself before you’re bringing your lips to his and kissing him. You can feel his surprise as his body tenses but eventually he relaxes and his arms find solace wrapping around your body and pulling you closer.
You wanted this. Just one last time. Even though you know that you’ll be breaking his heart in the end, you need him just this once. Closure. A weird way to find closure after breaking up.
You feel his hands trail down your waist and cup your thighs before he lifts you up and rests you on his waist. He carries you to the bed, your kissing not once broken even as he lays you down on the bed. You do eventually pull away to catch your breath.
You had removed his sunglasses, revealing his worn and tired eyes. You softly run your hand down the side of his face. He nuzzles into the palm of your hand as his eyes close shut.
You know that he knows that you won’t be staying after this. That you will still be leaving. But for right now, he has you and and for right now he can show how much he loves you and how much he regrets the decisions he’s made.
He presses his hips into yours, allowing you to know just how much he wants you.
Barely any words are spoken as the two of you become naked in front of each other. His eyes wander all over your body. Mesmerized. Stunned. Amazed. You name it, he was that and more.
Entangling himself with your body, he pushes himself inside of you. He gives languid strokes as he pushes his hips into you and buries his face into the crook of your neck and kisses your jaw. His hand travels down your waist and grips your hip as he starts to pound into you. Your moans fill his ears as he pushes you closer to the edge.
You grip him tightly, nails digging to his back as he fills you and stretches you with every thrust. Your vision begins to blur as tears fill your eyes. All of your emotions hitting you all at once. Your heart breaks as you feel him pouring out his love. You hug tighter as a tear escapes from the corner of your eye and slips down the side of your face.
But all of that is overridden by our orgasm as it rips through your body. You can hear him speaking to you as he fucks you through it. Praising you, loving you. Seconds later he’s spilling inside of you and filling you up.
Coming down from your highs, his body relaxes on top of you and he rests his head on your shoulder. Neither of you makes an effort to move but eventually he pulls out of you and lays on his back beside you.
You start to make a move to leave but he grabs hold of your elbow. You look over your shoulder and his eyes alone are begging you to stay. You know you shouldn’t. You know you should leave, but that small part of you is begging for one night. You give a light nod of your head and crawl back into the bed. He holds you close as you curl into his front side. His fingers graze your spin lazily. Soon the both of you are falling asleep in each other’s arms.
Waking up the next morning and rubbing the sleep from his eyes, he feels the cold bed beside him as he rolls over onto his stomach. Sitting up in the bed he finds you gone. Everything is gone except for your sweater that still lies on the end of the bed. He climbs from the bed and pulls on a pair of sweats and retrieves your sweater before leaving the room.
His worst nightmare comes true as he finds the house completely void of you. Pulling the front door open, he looks outside to the driveway but your car is gone. It’s as if you were never there, but you had been. He can still feel your touch lingering on his skin and with each memory that comes to his mind, his heart breaks a little more.
Slowly closing the door, he holds your sweater to his chest as he leans against the door. You’re gone. For good. He knows now that there is no coming back to once was or ever will be. He made the mistake of letting you go but now he has to live with it. Forever letting the one get away.

Tumblr media
It had been just over a week since you got caught by Jeonghan and Joshua over the game mic. They haven’t dropped it once ever since that moment. They never overtly said what they learned or witnessed to the others, it was just subtle teasing. Now sitting in Wonwoo’s lap again while they play games you’re just waiting to hear one of them tease you both. Wonwoo had forgone the headset today, he said he was tired of the indents it would create from his glasses behind his ears. For the most part, you just heard Jun yelling at Seokmin to get his shit together and stop dying all the time. You hardly noticed though, you were contently tucked into the junction where Wonwoo’s neck meets his shoulder. Your arms wrapped around his neck relatively comfortably.
“You keeping him warm again?” you hear Jeonghan tease suddenly.
“Fuck off Jeonghan, no one cares.” Wonwoo’s deep voice pierces through the voice chat.
“He’s just asking a simple question though.” Josh instigates.
You still don’t respond, you had honestly forgotten that they had cams on today and they could see you when they weren’t focused on the game screen. And while yes, you were seen on the screen by the others, they couldn’t see past where the desktop is, just above your waist. Your boyfriend was very quick to deflect the question though for two reasons. One, he knew you were half asleep and didn’t want to talk. Two, you were in fact warming him. Burying your face further against the crook of his neck they had all assumed that you were simply tired and falling back to sleep. In reality, you were blushing up a storm at the idea that you might’ve been caught again.
“Are you okay, my love?” Wonwoo whispers against your ear, “If you want you can always go get comfy in bed, I’ll join you soon.”
You shake your head, “No, I’m comfy here. Just getting a little clingier.”
“Are you slipping?” he immediately asks.
You just nod and cling to him tighter. It doesn’t happen often that you slip into your submissive headspace, you decide against trying to figure out why it’s happening now of all times. You vaguely hear Wonwoo say that he’s not going to play anymore, but will stay and chat while they continue to play. Knowing he’s stopping to care for you makes your heart burst with butterflies. After a few more moments of clicking keys, you feel the chair recline back slightly as your boyfriend sits back. His hand comes to rub up and down your spine in a soothing manner. You can hardly keep your eyes open at this point but at the same time, you want more than to simply sit on him. In the back of your mind, you knew it was a horrible idea to try to move, but his camera is still on. Everyone would be able to see if you tried to start moving in your boyfriend’s lap.
Your thighs tighten around his hips hoping it would convey at least a portion of what you wanted to communicate. You feel Wonwoo’s hand falter slightly as he feels the slight change in pressure around him. He tries not to show any reaction to the others though. He places a soft kiss against the shell of your ear, something so simple but it lets you know that he understood what you needed.
“Hey, I need to go guys.” he speaks clearly in the middle of the conversation, “They’re not feeling good, you know I can’t just sit here and do nothing. Enjoy the rest of the night! Seokmin please stop sucking.” he jokes at the end.
Josh and Jeonghan both give Wonwoo a look as if knowing what was happening again. Your body leans back when your boyfriend moves to leave the call. The moment you feel your body move back into the comfortable position against his chest you pull your face away from where it was hidden. Your brain feels hazy but you still feel present enough to communicate your needs and consent to everything that was happening.
“Can you talk to me, baby? I can see how glossy your eyes are.” he speaks softly, “Do you want to go cuddle and watch a movie instead of this? The last thing I want is to do something you don’t one-hundred percent want.”
“I- yeah, I want more.” you admit, “I don’t just want to sit here anymore. I need you.”
“And you’re one-hundred percent sure you consent to all of this?” he reassures, you nod at him, “No, I need to hear words.”
“I promise I completely consent to this. Please, I just want you to fuck me.” you whine.
His arms stay wrapped around your waist, only pulling you closer to him, as he slowly starts thrusting up into you. You absolutely adore these moments with him, to have him just like this. Gentle and attentive to everything you need while ensuring not to overwhelm you.
You sigh in pleasure when his slow smooth thrusts meet you fully. He lays fleeting kisses along your shoulder and neck hoping to further comfort you and carry you through your headspace safely. Your whimpers and whines only grow as he continues to thrust into you. Occasionally he lets out his own sounds of pleasure letting you know just how good you make him feel despite the hazy state you’re in.
“You can cum whenever you want to, love, I won’t last very long with how you’re sucking me in.” he groans softly.
“I-” you cut yourself off with a gasp, “please, I want to so bad.”
“You don’t need to ask baby, cum if you want to.”
You move your face to be directly facing Wonwoo’s. Immediately, you envelop his face in your hands and pull yourself down to kiss him. Just as you do so you feel your orgasm overtake your senses. A loud moan escapes your lips. Wonwoo’s kiss would’ve swallowed the noise had it not been for his own orgasm hitting him harder than he expected. An uncharacteristically loud groan passes through his lips as well. He continues to guide you down on him for another minute or so to help you both come down from your highs.
“Jesus fucking Christ are they finally done?” you hear Seungcheol’s voice burst through the speakers of the computer.
You feel the heat of a blush creeping up your chest and neck when you hear him. Wonwoo just sighs though. He acts as if nothing is new, or out of the ordinary when he hears his friend’s voice.
“Yeah did you not hear that loud ass moan coming out of them?” you hear Minghao chime in with a tsk.
“I told you! Those two are maniacs!” Jeonghan adds.
That’s when Wonwoo decides enough’s enough, rolling his gaming chair forward he shakes his mouse effectively waking up his monitor. He chuckles, actually chuckles, when he notices he managed to miss the hang-up button on the screen. He simply pressed the ‘turn off camera’ button instead which just happened to be next to the ‘leave call’ button.
“That’s enough out of all of you. We aren’t the maniacs here, you all could’ve easily left the call but you all chose to stay. All seven of you stayed. Speaking of which, why is Soonyoung so quiet.”
You hear Josh giggle, “He, um, wanted to be alone for a moment. He’s here though.”
“In his words, and I quote: ‘It’s too fucking hot in here, I need a minute’ and promptly muted himself.” Jun adds.
The conversation devolves as Wonwoo continues to talk to his friends and cleans both of you. It seemed almost normal to him. You didn’t question it though. With how often you managed to get caught it really is a normal encounter for everyone.

I Got You- Chapter 3
Tumblr media
Pairing- Jake 'Hangman' Seresin x Female!Reader
Word count- 2,817
Warnings- Language, mentions of domestic violence, injuries, and abuse, abusive boyfriend, hurt reader, protective Jake. Hospital, and police. If I missed something, please let me know.
A/N- Before we get any further into this, there will be a few differences from the movie. Ice was sick, but beat it, the aviators are there for a six-week training, not three. This one has been sitting in my WIP since last fall. First Jake story, I hope I can do him justice. The first few chapters will be a little heavy, but we will move past that. Thank you to @slightly-psycho-multifan for beta'ing!
Summary- When you have finally reached a breaking point, you call the one person you trust for help. He’s never seen you as more than a friend, but he is the person you know you’re safest with.  It’s been months since he has had so much as a text from you, but Jake Seresin would do anything for the Navy princess he met years ago.  The pilot knows she means more to him than he ever will to her, but he will do anything for her.
Series Masterlist
Somewhere along the ride you fell asleep, Jakes’s soft voice stirs you.  It takes you a minute to remember where you’re at, and the soreness you feel is quick to remind you of what has happened.  Finally, it dawns on you that the truck is no longer moving.  Looking out the window you see you’re in a parking lot.
“We’re just south of Santa Ana, I thought this would be far enough away to stop.  I can’t find a parking place up close, and I don’t want to make you walk any further than you have to.  So I’m going to drop you off by the door, find the first available park in the parking garage I can and be right back.  You can wait by the door or go in and register, alright?”
“Okay,” you croak out.  Is that really your voice?  You must still be a little tired.
Jake pulls up to the door and hurries around to your side to carefully help you out. He sets the peas back down in the bag, as you slowly move away.  Watching you walk up to the door he cringes, your bruises have darkened up since leaving the apartment.  He hadn’t noticed the ones around your neck before, but they definitely stand out now. Once you are safely inside he pulls away to find a parking spot.  Your phone in the passenger seat catches his attention, he wouldn’t put it past the bastard to have some kind of tracker program on there, so he shuts it off until he can deal with that. It takes until the third floor of the small parking garage to find an empty place, but he grabs your IDs he had stuck in the truck console and takes off running as soon as he is out.
Meanwhile, you have every intention of just waiting inside the door for Jake to come back, but a security guard has caught sight of you and immediately calls someone over.  You keep trying to tell them about your friend, but they aren’t listening, just talking to each other over you.
“He’s coming,” you finally manage to get out loud enough for them to notice.
“Don’t worry honey, you're safe now,” a nurse tells you.
That’s great, you think, but you would feel even safer if Jake was here with you.  It’s a flurry of activity as two nurses take you back to a room and start taking your blood pressure while the other is asking questions, the first one being your name.  When one of them touches near your left wrist you scream.  She carefully pulls back your sleeve and gasps “wow” at the dark swollen wrist.
“Kelly,” the other nurse quietly reprimands her.
The one asking you questions, Nancy, you read on her name tag finally turns to you, as Nurse Kelly stops prodding.  She seems nice, she looks a little bit older, maybe around your moms age.  “I can see the cuts on your arm, the bruising on your wrist, face and throat.  Is there anything else that hurts you?”
It throws you off when she says your throat has bruises, is that why it hurts to talk?  That’s never bruised before, but then you remember.  Josh had never choked you before tonight.  That is why you were finally scared enough to call Jake.  Before today, there had been some bruises from his hits, and a sprained wrist. Maybe he’d throw a few things at you, or there was that one time two weeks ago you were doing your damnedest to forget.
“Y/n?  Honey, is there anything else?” Nancy asks again.  “You can even just point to it if that’s easier for you instead of talking.”
Taking inventory of your body, you notice the only other place you hurt is the left side of your chest and you point there.
“Can you tell me how you got these injuries?”
The response you usually go with is falling, or an accident of some kind, but you know you aren’t going back this time.  “My boyfriend got mad at me.”
She talks to you for a few more minutes before leaving.  “I’m going to go over all this with the doctor, and one of us will be right back okay?”
You want to ask about Jake coming back, but they are gone too quickly.  Sitting back against the bed you wait for someone to come back.
Out in the lobby Jake is looking all over for you, it’s a little after 11 pm, but there are still a few people waiting to be seen by an ER doctor.  When he can’t find you, he goes up to the registration desk where a security guard is talking to a young nurse.  She notices the attractive aviator walking up and gives him a smile.
“Hi, can I help you?”
“Hi, my name is Jake, I’m trying to find someone. Her name is Y/N, I just…”
“You’re him, she said you would be here.” She quickly interrupts, her eyes narrowing.   “You have a lot of nerve showing up here.”
“I’m sorry, I don’t understand,’ Jake responds, more than a little confused.  “Can you help me find my…”
“No.  You will not be getting near her.”  Turning to the guard, she speaks to him now.  “Paul, did you say you already called the police for that poor girl?”
“Yeah, they were sending an officer down to take her statement.”
“This is the guy she was trying to tell us was coming.”
“What is going on here?” Jake asks.
The guard turns to look at Jake with disgust, “you and I are going to take a little walk buddy.”
“If that walk is to go find my friend, that would be great.”
“No, you aren’t going to see her again.”
“What is happening?” Jake pushes for an answer.
But that answer never comes for Jake, the guard grabs his arm and pulls him down a hallway and pushes him inside a small empty waiting area.  “You’re going to need to wait in here.”
“Can you please tell me what’s going on, and how my friend I brought in is doing?  I really need to find her.”
The door just shuts in response.  He’s too wired up to sit, just paces the small area hoping someone will give him some answers soon.
Back in your room, a doctor is just leaving after explaining what lab work she is sending you for.  You are left waiting for someone to come take you for your x-rays, and constantly checking the door for Jake.  Where is he?  He wouldn’t have just left you here, right?
Forty five minutes later, you are finally back in the exam room, still without any word from Jake.  The orderly who took you out of the room, didn’t have any answers for you about someone looking for you.  You aren’t used to carrying a phone anymore, so you had left yours in Jake’s truck.
A knock at the door has you hoping for your friend, but it’s just nurse Kelly.  Scratch that, nurse Kelly, and a police officer.  The officer gives you a small smile as the nurse begins to speak.
“You don’t have to worry, the police have the guy who you said was coming for you.”
Panic starts to set in, and your heart rate monitor is screaming.  How in the world has Josh found you already?  He should still be at the bar, or passed out with whatever chic took him home tonight.  Where is Jake in all this?  Did he see Josh and go after him?  That would not be good for his career.  Why did you drag him into this in the first place?
The thoughts running through your head would have kept going, if the nurse hadn’t come over to draw you out of it.  When you are paying attention to the two of them again, the officer starts talking.
“We’re holding your boyfriend down the hall, my partner is talking to him right now.  Is there anything you want to tell me?”
“How did he find me here?”
The officer throws a questioning look to Kelly.  “Didn’t you tell them he was coming when you arrived here?  Was he following you?”
Did you tell them that?  You didn’t think so. You weren’t expecting him to find you so soon. All you wanted was Jake here now.  “Do you know where my friend that brought me is?  His name is Jake.  Said he would be right here.”
“Your boyfriend?” Kelly asks, as she remembers the guy's name that came looking for you with disgust.
Shaking your head, you take a small sip of water to coat your throat before speaking again.  “He’s not my boyfriend.  He took me away.”
The two women in the room are slightly confused, the officer speaks first.  “Your boyfriend took you away, or the man that’s here took you away from somewhere?”
“Jake got me out.  Where is he?”  You aren’t even aware of the tears falling down your face from the frustration you are feeling along with the pain from the injuries and the tightness in your throat.  “He said he would be right here, should have been in here by now.”
The officer looks at the nurse, then back to you.  “I’m going to go look into something, I’ll be right back.
Nurse Kelly is left to try and find something to calm you down.
Jake is dealing with another officer, down in the waiting room.
“Can you tell me your relationship to the patient?”
“We’ve been friends for about eleven years, but I haven’t heard from her for a while before tonight.”
“Did that make you angry?”
“Not as angry as this is.”
The officer does not look impressed.
“Maybe a little frustrated, hurt I guess.  What does this have to do with me going to see her now?”
“We can’t let you do that.”
“That's what everyone keeps saying, but why the hell not?”
“You know why Mr. Seresin.”
“It’s Lieutenant, actually officer James.”
“Did the military teach you how to do that?  Fight the enemies overseas, and come home and throw a few more punches?”
“What are you talking about?”
It’s then that the door opens and a female officer comes in and asks to speak to her partner in the hall.  Both return a few minutes later.  She starts the questioning this time.  “Can you tell us how your night went?”
“Where do you want me to start?” Jake shoots back trying to avoid rolling his eyes.
“Your first interaction with Miss Kazansky.”
“I was at the Hard Deck, it’s a bar near base in Miramar. Been there maybe 15 minutes when my phone rang.  It was Y/N, she said she needed help, I left and drove up to LA.  I met her at her shared apartment.  When I saw her, I told her she needed to get out of there.  So I packed up her stuff, she wouldn’t let me stop at a hospital there because her boyfriend would find her.  So I drove until we got here.  Now can someone tell me what I’m doing here and why I haven’t been allowed to see her yet?” He finished his recount, struggling to stay calm and not snap at the officers in front of him anymore.
The two officers look at each other.  “There may have been a small misunderstanding,” James tells him.  “We’ll be back in a few minutes.”
Ten minutes later one very ticked off Jake Seresin is finally being shown to your room.  After speaking with you one more time, the officers told him they were under the impression he was the boyfriend responsible.  He had to bite his tongue not to say anything that would get him in trouble and keep him from you any longer.  He gave them your address back in LA and what he knew of Josh before leaving them behind.  Jake wasn’t sure how much they could really do about your ex, but that’s a problem for later.
You are extremely relieved to finally see Jake enter your room.  He pauses in the doorway, the sleeves of the hospital gown don’t hide your bruised arms from him.  The doctor knocks on the door right behind him so he doesn’t say anything, just takes a seat right next to you.  Your x-rays are back, your wrist, as everyone figured, is broken.  Luckily the pain around your ribs is just bruising, nothing broken there.  You do have signs of a concussion, and they tell Jake what to watch for should it get worse.  He is also given some prescriptions to get filled for you in the morning.  Once ortho has a cast on your wrist, you are going to be free to go.
That takes another hour and finally around 2:30 am, you exit the hospital, with instructions to find an orthopedic doctor in your area and see them in two weeks.  Nurse Nancy waits with you by the door while Jake runs to get the truck. Once he’s back, he hops out to come over and help you inside the cab.  With a ‘thank you’ to Nancy, the two of you are headed back to the highway.  The pain medications they gave you for tonight are starting to kick in.  For once you aren’t leaving the hospital with a giant pit in your stomach.
It’s quiet between the two of you, but from the corner of your eye you have caught Jake’s hand slide over toward you, before he pulls it back to rest on the center console.  In your tired state it doesn’t dawn on you until you start to see some of the road signs, you aren’t on your way back to Lemoore with Jake.  He wasn’t there when you called him, he said he was at…Oh crap.
“Where are we going?” You ask, suddenly more awake than you were two minutes ago.
Your raspy voice surprises the aviator, and he glances over at you in shock, not having expected to hear anything more from you.
“It’ll be almost 4am by the time we make it back.  I was going to take you back to the house I rented, but I can take you to your parents house if you’d rather?”
“No. No, they can’t know.  Dad would be so disappointed in me.”
“Darling, I don’t think he would.  He might be more inclined to fire a missile at your ex.  Maybe if I ask nicely, he’ll give me the honor.”
“Not funny.  Please don’t tell anyone I’m here, Jake.  Please,” you beg of your friend.  The worry you thought you left behind quickly comes back.
He can hear the panic in your voice, and see you shaking from the corner of his eye. “Okay, okay, if that is what you want, I won’t say a word.”
“Thank you.”
When you arrive at the house not too far from base, Jake rushes around to help you out of the truck, and grabs some of your things before assisting you up the walk.  Once inside, he leads you to the couch, while he does a quick check of the house.  Not that he really thinks Josh is here, but just for a peace of mind.  When Jake’s sure you’re alone, he comes back to check on you before getting the rest of your things from the car and locking the house up tight.
“I don’t have extra bedding for the guest room, but you can stay in my room tonight and I’ll take the couch.  Alright Princess?” he quietly asks.
Slowly shaking your head, you can’t even look at him when you whisper, “I don’t want to be alone.”
It takes Jake's tired brain a minute to process that. “Does that mean you want to hang out on the couch with me or..”
“We both need some sleep, will you lay with me please?”
“I’ll do whatever I can to help you darlin. I got you, always.”
Jake grabs the bags with your clothes and you follow him up to the bedroom.  He allows you to use the bathroom first.  While you are in there he pulls a tshirt and some gym shorts out of his drawer for you to sleep in.  He figures you can sort through your things tomorrow, or later today.  While you change in the bedroom, Jake slips into the bathroom, coming out in a shirt and boxers.
He guides you to the side of the bed away from the door and lifts the covers up for you to crawl in.  Moving to the other side of the bed, he situates himself making sure to give you plenty of space.  The last thing Jake wants to do is make you uncomfortable.  After the rough night, it doesn’t take long for either of you to pass out.
Thank you for reading!

her friends had been quite adamant about the outfit that she was currently wearing. it was a period-type: long dress, hair pinned up into a half up-do. it was supposed to be the character of rose from the titanic. the red, seemingly expensive, fabric of her dress wrapped around her figure snugly, and she couldn’t help but find herself gazing just a bit too long at her own reflection in the mirror.
“move your hair out ‘f your face, hon.” she turned to look at her good friend, mavis williams, who was currently giddy at the thought of painting her friend’s face. she complied, pushing the straggling locks of hair on her face behind her ears. she tries to sit as still as possible as mavie attempted to place the light dust of blush on her cheeks and accentuated her eyes just slightly by adding a swipe of eyeliner to each. she marveled at her friend’s ability, knowing that she would have used much more time to complete the same task to the level at which her friend could.
after she was done, she stood up to smooth the wrinkles in her dress, grasping on the necklace at the vanity while mavie went on to do her own makeup - having dressed as cher from their collective favorite movie: clueless.
dottie had left about a half-hour ago to meet up with her ravenclaw friends, and martha had just left to go find her boyfriend. on the other hand, mavie and herself would meet with mavie’s hufflepuff boyfriend, and all three of them would head down to the gryffindor common room, where fred and george, with the help of angelina johnson, had organized a halloween party - advertised as transcending house boundaries, cause no one should be able to recognize anyone anyways.
she was excited to go, not seeing her own friends outside of classes that much and now finally getting a chance. she also did love the weasleys’ parties, a common sentiment shared through the school.
she watched as mavie finished up her own outfit, popping the signature stick of gum in her mouth, before - as if on cue - they both heard a knock at the door. mavie rises up, a smile she tries to suppress still beaming over her cheeks, as she opened the door and greeted her boyfriend. well, she says greeted - the girl pulled him into a jovial kiss almost immediately, having not been able to spend much time with him over the past few weeks. after the show, she joined the cute couple, and nodded at her friend’s boyfriend. he’s quick to greet her, friendly smile ever-present on his face.
“hey, connor! josh, right?” she refers to cher’s love interest in the movie, pointing at his boring-for-anyone-else outfit. truly, it didn’t work without the appearance of his girlfriend, but it didn’t really seem like the two of them would separate for much time tonight anyways.
as soon as they near the stairs, they can already hear the heavy bustling and chatter standard of a weasley party, seeing the common room flooded with people in all sorts of costumes as they ventured down. many were the standard: zombies, vampires, werewolves. there were a few fairies, elves and the like. then, there was an assortment of movie and tv characters. she glanced around for her friends, immediately finding dottie - who was in a white shirt and tight corset - with her ravenclaw friends, emulating a team of bloodthirsty pirates. martha went to greet her, with her boyfriend in tow, and she marveled at the cute outfit: baby and johnny from dirty dancing.
her friends were all talking amongst themselves, being shockingly distant to her and, for the life of her, she couldn’t tell why. deciding to ignore it, she broke away to go find the refreshments counter - a butterbeer had never sounded better. she filled a glass with the stuff - the sweet drink having been infused with something slightly more potent to really make this a party, and she absentmindedly glanced at who else was attending.
well, she says absentmindedly, but, truly, she’s looking for one person: cedric diggory. see, the girl had had an almost embarrassing crush on the boy for some time now, and the only people who knew that were her dorm-mates and close friends. half the reason she’d come to this party was because mavie had heard that he’d be here and, as pitiful as it was, she was really excited to see him.
“’lright there?” she’s broken out of her thoughts by a loud voice - voices. in the blink of an eye, she’s surrounded by hogwart’s double trouble, and fred and george both have somewhat expectant looks on their faces.
“hmm? yeah, yeah, i’m great! ‘t’s a nice party.” she nods back at them, plastering a smile to make it look like she was more tuned in to their conversation that she actually was.
“how come you sound surprised? all our parties are nice -” started fred, but george was quick to cut to the chase, knowing they had other guests to talk to (see: bother).
“we just wanted to say that you’ve got a cute outfit. pretty original of a couple this year, y’know? most of these other ones are pretty similar.” she’s nodding along, but, suddenly processing what they said, she’s a bit confused.
“couple? wait, what?” fred and george look at her for a moment, before looking at each other.
“uh, jack? like jack & rose?”
“yeah, we tend to zone out when dad puts muggle movies on but even we know that one.” then, suddenly fred smacks his brother’s shoulder.
“oh, george, she’s just messing with us,” if there was one thing the weasleys hated, it was getting beat at their own game of sarcasm, “good one, but you won’t pull fast one over good ol’ freddie that easily.” he laughs at his own comment, before him and his brother waved her off. except, the issue was that she truly had no idea what they were talking about. of course, she was well aware of the implication of jack when she was rose, but it was fairly obvious that she had come alone, right? and that jack, in fact, was not here with her?
she figured that the boys had just been messing with her, deciding to gulp down the rest of her butterbeer and make her way back to dottie. she was struggling with clipping on her corset as she spoke with a friend, so she went up behind her and helped her out.
“hey, dot.” she mumbles, and she tightens the clasp. her friend gives her a sweet smile of gratitude. suddenly, dot’s friend gasps and looks at her.
“oh my god, your guys’ costumes are so cute!” she smiles back at the friend, a little confused by her way of speaking but grateful nonetheless.
“yeah, haha, thanks. mavie really helped me out and, honestly, dot looks like she’s really gone all out for this -”
“oh, no, not dot!” the friend’s quick to clarify, “i mean the handsome jack to your beautiful rose.” she sent a playful wink to her confused face and, when she turns to look at dottie, she sees her suppressing a smile.
“dot? dot, what did you do?” she hisses to her friend, and all she does in response is shake her head.
“ask mavie and connor, it was their idea!”
“what was?” dot just shrugged. a little exasperated now, she left and set off on the quest to find mavis, infinitely more confused now than she was before.
as she weaved her way through the groups of people, she found herself looking back to apologize to someone whose toes she'd stepped on, prompting her to walk right into someone. they grasp at her biceps to steady her, a polite litany of apologies already leaving their mouth. as soon as she hears them speak, she recognizes them, hoping her ears haven’t gone too red.
“it’s - um, cedric, you’re fine. it was my fault, i wasn’t looking-” as she glances down to look at his own outfit, she stops. he does the same. for a moment, they’re both examining the other, the gears in their heads clicking into place with each second.
“connor…”
“i’m gonna kill mavie.” they both mutter the names of their traitors, before cedric looks up at her, and laughs lightly.
“god, i’m so sorry, this must be so awkward.” she immediately goes to shake her head, laughing as well.
“no! it’s not awkward. just…oh, mavie’s always been a bit extra about things like this.” she mumbles, trying to find a way to diffuse the situation. luckily, cedric’s much better at that then she is as, after taking a half-step back, he daintily grabs her hand in his and presses it lightly to his lips.
“rose.” he says it with affection, and she blinks, having to remind herself that it’s for the sake of the bit.
“jack.” she curtsies lightly in response, hoping the low light covers her blush.
“i was just about to get myself a drink, would you like one?” god, he’s such a damn gentleman, she thinks, before shaking her head.
“i’ve already had one, but i’ll go with you, if you don’t mind?” there’s the faintest hint of desperation in her voice, and she’s just hoping to god he doesn’t pick it up.
“that’d be lovely.” he holds his arm out for her, and she takes it delicately, knowing anything more would come off as too intimate. he’s really playing into the bit.
after getting himself a drink, they find seats near the edge of the room, the place slightly more reclusive and giving themselves an environment to talk.
“how’s your night been so far?” he asks conversationally. she sighs in faux exasperation.
“it’s felt pretty orchestrated, to be completely honest,” he laughs, and she does too, “y’know, mavie’s always trying to play matchmaker, but i usually figure out her ploys ahead of time.” he nods in agreeance.
“it’s the same with connor - he seems to be a bad influence on his girlfriend.” he says it in humor, with a fake accusatory tone.
“oh, i’m sure it’s the other way around.” there’s a beat of silence.
“we do make a cute couple.” he lingered on the word, before rephrasing, “a cute couple’s costume.” then, having noticed her face perk up at the first sentence and then again depress at the next, he attempts to hide a smile behind his glass, “i think we’d make a cute couple too.” she stares at him with narrow eyes for a moment.
“y’think so?” it’s a mumble, because she really, really hopes he isn’t playing games with her right now. he’s silent for a moment, before clearing his throat. his usual air of confidence had dwindled slightly, and she looked at him with big, questioning eyes.
“i’d - uh, i’d hope we make a cute couple.”
“you hope?” he laughs, before shaking his head and moving closer to her.
“i am trying to ask you out here. can ya, uh, help me out?” the last bit’s a joke, but she’s too busy processing his first sentence to notice.
“you - you want to ask me out?” she’s baffled, having assumed that all her previous affections towards him had been one-sided.
“i mean, if you’d let me. ever since connor introduced us, i thought you were just so sweet and i - uh - i guess i just didn’t have the courage before.” still in shock, she doesn’t answer for another moment, and he looks down at the ground, “i’m sorry, you can just say no, i didn’t -”
“no!” he deflated at the exclamation, ready to accept the rejection, before she shook her head, taking his hand, “no, i mean yes! i’d love to go out with you.” he looks confused, and it makes her laugh, “cedric, please. i would really enjoy going on a date with you.” he smiles, pressing another soft kiss to her hand.
“y’think we should tell them that this worked?” he said after a moment, in reference to mavie and connor. her eyes widened.
“oh, absolutely not!”

Intentions
Tumblr media
Jake Kiszka X Fem Reader
This was gonna just be a blurb, but I've decided to turn it into a little mini series of blurbs? is that a thing?
Warnings: Angst
You sat staring at the empty plate in front of you. The anger had passed about a half hour ago. Now you just felt numb, let down, disappointed, but not shocked. This wasn't the first time. You picked up your phone to look at the time, the last little flicker of hope being snuffed out by the empty home screen. Not even a text. You felt tears starting to well in your eyes and your throat start to burn.
Your anniversary, he'd forgotten the date on your anniversary. Your one year anniversary.
You swallowed down your emotions, putting them on the back burner until you got out of this restaurant you'd been so excited to experience with Jake. You waved down the waiter and asked for the check. After signing it and leaving a tip you grabbed your bag and made your way out to the uber you'd called for yourself. You gave them Jake's address and then pulled out your phone, texting your closest friend and asking if you could stay with them a few days. This was when the tears started to break free, you sniffled quietly to yourself, not wanting to make the driver uncomfortable.
He dropped you off at the apartment complex and you started to make your way up the stairs. You were digging in your bag for your keys when Josh opened the door. Sweet Josh, you adored him. He and his little brothers were some of your favorite people in this small town you grew up in. The town you now desperately wanted to leave. You'd always planned to leave with Jake, even before you started dating. You had planned to travel together while he played his music.
"Y/n," He said, eyes getting wide as you pushed in past him. You had been basically living her the past 6 months. "Are you ok?"
"No, I'm not." You said, void of any infliction or emotion, you weren't mad at Josh. "Where is Jake?"
"He stayed late in the studio, he-he didn't text you?" He asked as he followed you to Jake's room.
"No." The tears started falling faster as you pulled a big duffle bag out of the closet.
"Oh-I'm sure he meant to" he said softly, watching from the doorway as you moved about the room.
"If he wanted to, he would have." your voice wavered as you glanced to Josh. He swallowed hard and then walked away, he couldn't argue with that.
You started going through drawers, getting all your stuff and shoving it into the bag. After about 10 minutes you heard the front door slam,
"Is she still here?" You heard Jake say, Josh had texted him you assume.
"In your room" Josh replied dryly.
You heard the sound of his boots hurriedly making their way to you.
"Baby," He said as soon as he stepped into the room, "I'm sorry I-I lost-"
"Yeah, you 'lost track of time' Jake. Just like you always do" You snapped as you shoved past him to go get your stuff from the bathroom,
"I'm sorry! We had some last minute things to work on, I-" He rushed out words as he followed after you,
"Stop saying that!" You abruptly turned, almost causing him to run into you, "Saying sorry doesn't mean anything if you don't change! How many times have you stood me up Jake?!" He stared down at you in shock, "Too many! And I'm fucking done!" You turned and continued on to the bathroom, using one arm to sweep all that was yours off the counter into your bag.
"Y/n please, I-" he reached for your arm as you passed, and you let him stop you for just a moment
"You what Jake?" You said, watching as he took in the look on your face, the tear stained cheeks. "You'll change?"
"I- Yes, I will, just please don't leave" His voice cracked and his throat bobbed. You looked away, you couldn't see him like this, it would change your mind.
"Nothing is going to change Jake." You sighed, "It's blatantly clear to me that I'm not a priority for you right now, the band is, and I can't do it anymore. I just keep getting hurt over and over."
"Thats not my intention" He said softly, sniffling as he tried to pull you closer, forehead resting on the crown of your head. "I'm torn in two different directions and I-I just fuck up sometimes, you know I love you-"
"Intention doesn't matter, actions do." you gently moved his hand from your arm, and moved past him towards the door. You loved him, god you loved him. You couldn't keep putting yourself through this.
"Baby please," he pleaded, trying to follow after you further but was intercepted by Josh, "Y/n!" You could tell by the choked sound of his voice he was crying too. "Josh get off me" You heard him snap
"You need to stop." Josh said back sternly.
You didn't turn back, you walked out of the door and stopped there. You were frozen.
"I-god I fucked up" Jake said angrily and you heard something crash to the ground.
"Jake, stop. Breaking shit isn't going to fix anything." Josh commanded, "And yeah, you did fuck up you dipshit. She was perfect."
"Then why didn't you let me go after her?" You heard Jake argue
"Because she's fucking right, don't you know that-"
That was the last thing you heard as you walked away.
---4 years later----
"Mom, I forgot to get dad's muffin, one second!" You said as you turned to hurry back to the little coffee shop. Pulling out your phone to check what kind he requested you stumbled into someone who so graciously caught you. "Oh my god I'm so sorry I-"
"Y/n?" The voice said hesitantly, steadying you on your feet as you looked up to him.

“can i ask you something, jake?” you speak up, turning your head over to look at your boyfriend. he turns his head to look at you as well, raising his eyebrows in question.
the two of you were laying on the trampoline in the back of his family’s house in frankenmuth, visiting his parents for a couple weeks while the band has a break from touring. since it was a warm summer night, you two decided to have a little sleepover on the trampoline, underneath the stars.
“you can always ask me anything, you know that,” he replies, his right hand coming up to stroke your cheek softly.
“when did you fall in love with me?” jake grins a little and keeps his hand on your face. but seconds later, he moves to sit up, the comforter falling off his chest and onto his legs. you follow suit, desperately wanting to know.
you two haven’t been together for long, just under a year, but you and jake have known each other since forever, since you were freshman in high school. but with the band taking off and them getting signed a few years later, neither of you were able to admit your feelings.
but with you getting to see them in michigan when they were just on tour, you and jake met up after the show and admitted everything to one another, leading to a relationship blossoming.
that night, jake had told you that he’s loved you since you were young, but he never said anything further about it. but now, you wanted to know just how long it has been.
“remember when the band was first starting out? how we’d play in our garage and that was what we were used to? no audience, just us?”
“yeah. and i’d come and sit and watch you guys because you wanted me to hear.” jake smiles and nods, reaching for your hand.
“and do you remember the first gig we had? at jan’s bar?” nodding along, you wait for him to continue, not having any idea where this was going. “i had trouble facing the audience. i was so used to it just being us four, and occasionally our parents or a couple friends.”
“your mom even had to tell you that they want to see you,” you step in quickly. jake laughs and looks down at your entwined hands.
“she did. but you…you were the one to help me the most.”
“what?” you gasp softly, your free hand falling on his bicep.
“after our second song that night, you ran over to my side of the stage and waved me off as josh talked to the crowd. you gave me this little pep talk to get me to look to the crowd instead of with my back to them. you told me that you’d be standing in the back, on my side, waiting to see my face. to imagine that it was just you in the room, no one else, like we were back in our garage. to just focus on you, not the crowd.”
flashbacks of that night come to your mind as he recalls the moment. it is vivid in your mind, the way jake was so nervous he was shaking, you taking his hands to attempt to calm him down, his pick still between his fingers.
“and as soon as you went back to the crowd, i walked back on stage, turned around, and saw you. in the back of the bar, smiling widely upon seeing me, clapping along with everyone else, bobbing your head along to the beat. i…i felt all my anxiety wash away as soon as our eyes met. i had so much confidence all of a sudden, and it was all thanks to you.”
“oh jakey…”
“and that’s when i realized i had fallen in love with you. if it wasn’t for you, i don’t think i would have made it as a guitarist. because of you, i found my confidence to face the crowd, and everything i have today, i own it to you, my love.”
your heart bursts in your chest at his confession, tears springing to your eyes. you fall into his arms and shove your face in his neck.
“jake, i-i wasn’t expecting that,” you sob out, not at all thinking he would say that last thing.
“you are the reason i am where i’m at. with a couple guitarist of the year awards, the ability to go out on stage every night and feel so confident and safe because i imagine you, somewhere in the room, waiting to make eye contact with me.” with each word he says, more tears stream down your face. “thinking back to that night even helps me get on stage some nights. when i’m feeling so lost or anxious, i think of you and what you told me all those years ago.”
“i love you,” you whisper, pulling back to cup his cheeks. you crash your lips onto his, the force of your body making jake fall on his back, with you pressed to his chest. his giggle breaks the kiss for a moment, but he soon collects his laughter and goes back to moving his lips against yours.
“i love you too, my darling,” he mumbles against your lips, his hand trailing to the back of your head to keep you pressed to him.
you continue kissing for a little while longer, just because you missed him so much, and could never get enough of the way he tastes and the way his lips feel. you finally pull away to catch your breath and fall back beside him, though still keeping close to his body, curling into his side.
“come on tour with me,” he asks, or really demands, after a few minutes of laying in silence. gazing up at him, a smile begins to tug at the corners of your mouth.
“really?” you confirm.
“yeah. i need my lover, and my good luck charm, with me. i hate being away from you for so long. just come on the rest of the tour with us, please?” his voice holds so much pain, making you wonder what he went through alone when you were apart. he was always open with you, but there were still some things he was scared about telling you, and you respected that.
“i’ll have to move some things around, but i’ll see if i can make it work,” you tell him.
“i can’t be away from you anymore. i thought i could do it, but i can’t. i miss you so much, it’s hard to sleep at night, all i can think about is when i’m going to have time and call you, i need you with me.”
“why didn’t you let me know you were struggling with that?” you ask softly, stroking his cheek. he sighs and his eyes flutter closed, a shiver running through his body as a sudden gust of wind blows over the both of you.
“i was scared. i wasn’t even sure what was happening to begin with, so i thought it would go away. but after sleeping next to you every night for the past five months, then nothing for the next two, i guess i got used to it, and you comforted me, so because i didn’t have that, it was hard.”
“I’ll come with you,” you finally state. “i hate knowing that you’re in pain and struggling alone, so don’t worry. i’ll come with you. i mean, i really do want to, but knowing how hard it’s been for you, i don’t want you to go through it anymore.”
“I love you,” he repeats, kissing you once more. you snuggle closer to him, nuzzling your face in his neck.
“you’re my world, jake. no more being away from each other, okay?”
“so does that mean you’ll move in with me?” he wonders with a smirk.
“i thought you’d never ask.”

That’s two more gone. Ten remain. Half of them are careers. You stare at the fire blankly.
You don’t want to be on this island anymore. You don’t want to think about how Wonwoo died less than thirty feet away, but you know on this island you can get fresh water and a good supply of food, so you don’t dare move the boys.
“Y/N-ah.” Jihoon’s voice is soft as he approaches you. He sits down next to you and wraps his arms around your waist, resting his chin on your shoulder. You slightly melt into his arms, enjoying the safety of his arms locked around you, just for a moment.
“I’m okay Ji, I just need a minute.”
“I know, I know. I just wanted to tell you that Hansol and I are going to sleep soon. Please don’t stay up all night. Wake one of us up to take watch, okay?”
You nod. “Let Hansol-ah into the sleeping bag tonight, okay?”
“Okay. Don’t forget to put the fire out soon.” Jihoon presses a kiss to your forehead. It’s the first time either of you have shown any physical affection other than hand holding or cuddling at night. The feeling lingers there even after Jihoon gets up.
You huff. That’s another problem that you don’t want to worry about. The stupid crush you have on your fake boyfriend. You think you may have had a crush on him even before either of you were reaped, but now it’s real. It’s not just a passing crush on the idea of someone. No, now he’s here and real and holding your hand and kissing your forehead and making your heart go crazy.
You don’t think it’s healthy to feel this many emotions at once. Being in the Hunger Games is not for the faint of heart, you will say that.
You grieve for Wonwoo. He was your friend and your ally and he saved your life. By morning though, you will be back to good and ready to assess the next problem that arises. You have to be if you want to keep Jihoon and Hansol safe. You have to push all personal emotions aside so you can think properly and just get through the next challenge.
It’s late when you put the fire out. It’s way past the nightly recap. You didn’t bother watching tonight. You sit in the silent dark and stare at the moon. It’s not real, just another thing made by the Gamemakers, but it still brings you some comfort.
You think about your family. You hope your sister is sleeping right now. You hope your father isn’t worrying too much about you. Joshua is probably up right now. He’s always been a night owl.
“Hey Shua,” you whisper into the night. You use your old nickname for him. The one you gave him when you two were in elementary school. You’ve graduated to calling him ‘Josh’, especially in public, but every once in a while you’ll revert back to the old nickname. It helps remind you both of your past together and how far you have come.
You’re not sure if he’s going to be watching. He was never someone who would watch intently. Neither were you, but you kept more tabs on things than he did. Maybe he’s watching just because it’s you. Maybe he’s not watching for that exact reason.
“I miss you. I miss you a lot. You know after thirteen years of friendship you’d think we’d be tired of each other, yet it’s only been a week away from you and it’s like I’m going crazy. It’s hard not having you here. It’s like a part of me is missing. Well, not like. A part of me is missing. You.
“Remember when you used to accompany me during work and you’d complain about it the whole time while I chopped down tree after tree, but you stayed because it meant we could spend more time together? I wish we could go back to doing that. Jihoon and Hansol are good company, but they’re not you. I’ll love you forever, my Shua-yah.”
You’re pretty sure the Capitol isn’t going to air your little speech. You don’t care though. It makes you feel better being able to talk to Joshua in some way.
The rest of the night you wonder what District 7 has been up to. When the sunrises you look over and smile softly at the sight of Jihoon and Hansol in the sleeping bag. They’re adorable smushed together with their sleeping faces.
You stand up and all of your bones crack from sitting in the same place the whole night. You stretch your body out and grab the bag. You find the tap and put it in a tree before collecting water for the day.
You hear rustling coming from behind you and soon arms are wrapping around your waist, a sleepy face pressed to your back. “You didn’t sleep last night.”
“I’ll sleep later, after Sol wakes up.” You lean back into Jihoon’s embrace. “I wouldn’t have been able to sleep anyways.”
“Remember, you have to take care of yourself too.”
Jihoon’s words make your mind flash back to your final conversation with Soonyoung.
Promise me one more thing? Take care of yourself as well, yeah? I know your new focus is on Jihoon, but you’re important too.
You know that if you don’t care for yourself, you won’t be much help to Jihoon either. It doesn’t matter if you actually take care of yourself to take care of yourself, it won’t matter in the end. You need to be at your best for Jihoon though.
You turn around so you can face him. His hair is a mess and you reach up to fix it. “Let’s go to the shore today. I wanna wash in the water.”
Jihoon nods, though you have a feeling he’s only half listening. You lean down and kiss his forehead, as payment for the one he gave you last night. As you and Jihoon are in your own little world, you can hear Hansol starting to wake up as well.
Jihoon squeezes you once more. “Go sleep. We’ll go to the shore later.”
You nod. With a yawn you climb into the sleeping bag, and let sleep overtake you.
When you wake up, it’s way past noon. The sun shines bright in your eyes and you crawl out of the sleeping bag. Hansol and Jihoon are both lounging about and both perk up when they see you’re awake.
You three walk down to the shore where you get into the water. You clean your body off from all of the dirt and grime and blood from the last few days. The salt water still doesn’t leave you feel completely clean, but it’s something.
Hansol and Jihoon do the same and you’re all feeling slightly better afterwards. You stand on the sand, waiting for them to finish up. You glance over at the island in the middle of everything. You can see the glint of the metal Cornucopia in the distance. The place where all the careers reside.
“Y/N-ah,” Jihoon pulls you from your thoughts. “Ready to go back?”
“Yeah.” You pull your eyes away from the Cornucopia and grab Jihoon’s hand.
Another canon goes off later that evening. You guys are sitting around the fire, eating roasted nuts that Hansol found. The sound of the cannon doesn’t make you jump anymore, but it still caches your attention.
There are only two other non-career tributes out there. You wonder if it was one of them. You don’t have to wonder for too long because the nightly recap starts. When you look up at the sky you’re not expecting to see a career.
The picture of the District 4 boy you attacked on the very first day sits high in the sky. Hyunwoo? Something like that. You wonder if his leg injury got to him, or something else did. It doesn’t really matter. What matters is there are now only four careers left.
The night is peaceful. The next morning is as well.
You find a hunk of wood and grab a knife. You’re not sure who’s knife it is anymore, but it doesn’t really matter. You’re glad one of your hobbies can be done with even the simplest tools you have available to you.
The Capitol citizens have to be finding this funny right now. People are dying and you’re sitting here carving wood.
“Hey, that’s my song,” Jihoon says. Your concentration is broken and you look up at him.
“What?”
“You were humming,” Jihoon explains.
“Oh, sorry. Force of habit.” Whenever you’re working you end up humming a song. You don’t know many songs though, so you always go back to the same two or three you’ve heard Jihoon singing.
“Don’t apologize, I like hearing it.” Jihoon looks a bit shy and you think it’s adorable.
“You two are gross,” Hansol says, breaking the moment. “It was better when Wonwoo was here, so I had something to focus on that wasn’t you two.”
You laugh lightly. “Sorry Sollie, we’ll tone it down.”
You don’t want to tone it down though. You want to keep it going. You want to do more and have more and be more.
The rest of the afternoon is quiet. Then evening comes.
While everyone is sitting around, you sit up from where you’re leaning against one of the trees. There’s a rustling of leaves and in an instant you’re up on your feet. There’s a flash of something and suddenly you’re pulling both Jihoon and Hansol up, pushing them ahead of you.
“Mutts!” You yell out and start to take off at a full running pace. You glance behind you and quickly look away. It looks to be a mutation between a rhino and a large feline. It has the horn and build of a rhino, but the coat, teeth, and paws of a jungle cat. There’s only one, but it’s large and fast and you’re doing your best just to get through the thick foliage of the jungle.
The only thing that makes you feel even a sliver better about this situation is that you can clearly see Jihoon and Hansol in front of you. As long as you’re between them and the mutt, everything will be okay.
You’re a bit too focused on the boys though, because you trip. You land with a hard thud on the ground and you can barely even think before the mutt’s on you. You let out a scream as it tears sinks it’s claws into your arm.
It doesn’t let up and you’re sure you’re going to die. You feel something digging into your side and you remember your axe is on your belt. You struggle to detach it from your belt. As you do so, the mutt moves and grabs right onto your leg with it’s teeth. You’re sure if it wasn’t for the sheer panicked state of adrenaline you’re in right now you’d be dead.
With a cry you lift your axe and slam the blade down into the skull of the mutt. The mutt’s teeth loosen up on you and falls dead. Your arms fall limp as well and you do your best to remember to breathe.
Your ears are ringing and you can hear the faint sounds of Hansol and Jihoon but your vision is starting to go and you’re scared. You’re so, so scared.
Tumblr media
Jihoon can’t breathe. There’s a lump in his throat and a stab in his heart and you’re going to die and Jihoon can’t breathe.
He sinks down next to you and cradles your head in his lap. There’s fear in your eyes and that scares Jihoon the most, because he doesn’t think he’s seen you scared a day in his life.
“J-Ji,” you call out to him.
“Shhh, shh, I’m here. Hi, baby, I’m here.”
A tear rolls down your eyes and Jihoon quickly moves to brush it away. He doesn’t feel too far away from crying himself. There’s so much blood. So much blood and your leg doesn’t even look like a leg anymore and you’re breathing is slowing and you’re gasping for air.
“Ji, Ji,” you sob, tear freely falling now, “I don’t want to die. I don’t want to die anymore. Please Jihoon.” Your fingers dig into Jihoon’s arm, pleading for his help in some way.
“Shh, shh, you’re okay, it’s okay, you’re not going to die. I- you’re fine. We’re gonna be fine.” Jihoon tries to keep the panic out of his voice as he comforts you, but he knows he’s failing. “I- Soonyoung please help.”
Jihoon cups your face with his hands, and brushes his thumb over your cheek, hoping to calm you some. Jihoon leans down to press a kiss to your forehead. The taste of salt and dirt linger on his lips.
Ding.
A parachute falls down next to Hansol. He quickly picks it up and opens it. Inside is a plethora of medical supplies and Hansol quickly gets to work. Death may work quick, but Kwon Soonyoung works quicker.
“My mom’s a medic,” Hansol explains quickly as he feeds you a couple pills. “I don’t know as much as she does, but I can do this.” His hands are shaking, but Jihoon doesn’t have a doubt in his mind that he can save you.
Hansol takes a piece of cloth and ties it around your thigh and uses a stick to twist until it’s tight. Jihoon’s never seen a medical procedure like it before but he assumes it’s to cut off blood so you don’t lose even more than you already have.
He then moves on to your arm. He takes some of your water reserves and cleans off your arm before grabbing the needle and thread that was already in your first aid kit grabbed from the Cornucopia. His fingers are still a bit shaky as is his breath as he stabs into your arm the first time. It seems like he’s also trying to keep himself from crying, the only thing stopping him is having to stitch you up. It’s clearly a novice job, but Hansol eventually patches up your whole arm.
Despite your arm being taken care of, your leg is still mangled. Jihoon can’t look at it for too long or he’ll actually throw up. He can see a bit of bone though and it’s all meaty and bloody and slightly bent out of shape.
Even Hansol looks disgusted as he looks down at it. Inside the container that Soonyoung sent is some ointment, but Jihoon isn’t sure how much that can help when you have a literal chunk of your leg gone. Still Hansol rubs it onto your skin where he can and then wraps and splints your leg.
You’ve calmed down and your breathing is soft, but steady, and Jihoon thinks it has to do with the medicine Hansol fed you at the start. Jihoon has been petting your hair the whole time, watching Hansol meticulously. There’s a tight feeling in his chest and it doesn’t go away until your body shifts just the slightest bit.
You weakly reach out for Hansol and he helps you by grabbing your hand in his. “Th-thank you.”
Jihoon’s thankful for Hansol and Soonyoung as well, but he also knows that if you don’t real help soon, you won’t make it much longer. The suffocating fear that you’re going to die creeps up Jihoon’s throat and he does his best to swallow is back down.
From that start, it was clear you were going to die. You were going to lay down your life to say Jihoon’s. It was something he had to come to terms with. Now that he’s faced with the reality of it though, he can’t accept it. Not yet. He’s not ready to let you go yet. He needs more time.
So maybe he likes you. Maybe he’s always been a little interested in you. The strong, reliable woodsman from District 7. Now you two are here together and he has you but he’s about to lose you and he can’t handle it.
Hansol gets up and leaves to go back for the supplies. Jihoon’s took shaken to do anything other than pet your hair. Hansol comes back soon and Jihoon finally gets up.
Together they make a shelter. They tie the tarp to a couple trees like a lean-to and put branches and leaves over it so it’s more hidden.
Your face isn’t in the sky when night falls though, and that’s all that matters right now.
The night is long and Jihoon doesn’t sleep a wink. He can’t, too busy monitoring you. When morning comes Jihoon finally gets a good look at you in full light. Your skin looks dull and sickly and Hansol’s stitching on your arm looks even worse in the broad daylight.
Jihoon takes a peek down at your leg. It’s still all bandaged up and Jihoon can’t even imagine the monstrosities that lay under the coverings. Jihoon can only hope that more medicine will be sent soon.
You’re sleeping right now and Jihoon keeps a hold on your hand, but only so he can keep his fingers pressed to your pulse. It’s slow and faint, but it’s there.
Soonyoung sent the group a good portion size of soup and Jihoon must think the sponsors feel bad for them. Jihoon doesn’t really care, as long as it helps you stay alive.
The next few days are slow. Other killings happen, but to other tributes, and Jihoon doesn’t really care as long as it’s not you. None of it’s okay, this whole situation is fucked up, but deep down Jihoon knows that every canon that fires gets you and him closer to winning. To surviving.
You spent most of your time sleeping. Jihoon doesn’t care though, because it seems little by little your strength is coming back. Especially with the extra healing cream Soonyoung sent. It came with a note to Jihoon to keep it up and Jihoon thinks it relates to the fake dating act they’re putting on.
Jihoon’s cried multiple times since you got attacked and he spends all of his time coddling you. Soonyoung must think Jihoon is putting on an act for the camera and the Capitol is eating it up, but little does Soonyoung know that Jihoon is genuine in everything he does. Every forehead kiss, every hand squeeze, every sweet word, he means it.
The cream is doing its job though and you’re slowly starting to recover. Your arm has healed nicely and you’re able to stand and even walk a little bit, but your leg is still messed up and it bothers you if you use it too long. Capitol technology is a wonder, but it’s still not perfect. But you’re alive, and that’s all that matters right now.
Tumblr media
It’s down to seven tributes. You think about how that means there’s going to be family interviews. Your dad and your sister and Joshua. You miss Joshua. You’re glad the leg that got fucked up isn’t the one that has your bracelet on it because you’d honestly be more upset about the bracelet than your leg.
You’ve been dying lately though. Jihoon keeps coddling you, and it’s not that you don’t like it, but you so desperately hate being a sitting duck. You made Hansol find you a large stick that you’ve carved into a walking stick for you.
You force yourself to get up and walk every once and while. It’s been four days since you got attacked and you’ve been doing nothing for too long. Another island has sunk since then and two tributes have died, one being the other District 1 girl. Nayeon, maybe? That means it’s just three careers, your group of three, and one more tribute left.
The three careers left are the ones you like the least. Seungcheol and Jeonghan from District 2, and Mingyu from District 4. Not only do they have disgusting personalities, but they also pose a large threat to your group, especially now that you’re injured. If you don’t get your leg back in working shape soon, your whole group is in a lot of danger.
It’s the next day when you realize that you’re just about out of food. Your leg has been screaming at you since you woke up and even with the painkillers Hansol keeps feeding you, your leg is still killing you.
“We need stuff,” you groan.
“We’ll go get it, you rest,” Jihoon tells you.
“No,” you protest. “My leg is so stiff, I need to move it. Please. It’ll be okay.”
“No. Remember, you need to take care of yourself. I’m not kidding this time Y/N. Hansol and I will be back soon with food. If I found out you’ve moved from this spot, I’m not going to be a happy boyfriend.” Jihoon’s commanding voice and the use of the word boyfriend has you shutting up.
Jihoon drops a kiss on your forehead before he and Hansol head out in different directions. Just a week ago you were roaming these woods with Jihoon and killing a hog together. Wonwoo was still with you guys and he and Hansol were out finding you guys nuts and fruits. So much has changed since then.
You sigh and reach for the bag. You can luckily grab it without much effort and you grab your piece of wood and your knife out of the bag. If you can’t do anything, the least you can do is go back to your carving.
The sun is starting to move and you’re wondering where the boys are when you hear a blood curdling scream. It sounded like Hansol.
“Sol?” You call out experimentally. No response. He didn’t sound that far away. Dread starts to fill you. Something isn’t right. “Sol?” You struggle to your feet and look around frantically. Where is he?
"Y/N! Y/N!" The voice is panicked and high pitched and it makes your older sibling mode kick into gear. As quickly as you can, you start to race through the trees. Pain shoots up your leg, but you keep going. You’re not sure where you’re going but you need to find him.
"Sol-ah? Hansol!”
You nearly miss it. Nearly miss him while running, but a glint catches your eye and you sprint over. Lying on the ground is Hansol’s body, blood soaks his jumpsuit and his eyes are barely staying open. The glint you caught was his knife, still in his hand. His leg is tangled up in some jungle vines.
“Y/N?” Hansol reaches his hand up and you drop to your knees and grab onto his hand and pull it to your chest.
“What happened? Who did this?”
“The District 2 boy. I got caught in the vines. He found me and I tried to fight him off with the knife but he overpowered me.” His voice is soft, and his breathing is unsteady, his words taking a while to come out.
“I can save you. Like you saved me. I can fix this, just-”
Hansol clutches your hand tighter. “No Y/N, you can’t. You can’t save us all, it’s okay. Jihoon should win.”
You can’t save him. Hansol is going to die and you couldn’t protect him. You grab your axe and start to cut the vines away from his leg. When he’s finally free, you scoop him up and start to walk towards the edge of the island. Your leg is screaming at you, begging you to stop, but you can’t pay attention to it. You can’t when you have to focus on Hansol.
You set Hansol down on the sand and cradle his head in your lap. You don’t care if it’s fake, if it’s just made by the Gamemakers, Hansol deserves to have this. The sky is a myriad of colors over the ocean and you pet Hansol’s hair, trying not to drop tears on him.
It isn’t fair.
“It’s okay Y/N.” Hansol’s hands reach up to grab your face. He uses his last bit of strength to pull you face down to kiss your cheek. “Thank you for taking care of me.” He pats around his jacket pocket before pressing something into your hand.
You press your hands over Hansol’s as his eyes go blank and his arms go limp. You close his eyes and hold his body tight to yours. A cannon goes off. You don’t move until you hear a hovercraft coming to take Hansol. You gently lay his body down and back away as he’s lifted into the air. Your own outfit is now dirty with his blood and your leg is now even worse than earlier, but you don’t care.
You look down at your hand and sitting in your palm are two matching bracelets. Faded, worn leather braided together. District tokens. You clutch them close to your chest. One belonged to Hansol, the other to Chan, his district partner.
“Y/N? Hansol? I heard yelling.” Jihoon pushes through the trees but stops when he sees you on the sand. “Y/N…?”
“He- he- I didn’t even know they were on the island. I don’t know where they came from or where they went but I couldn’t save him and now he’s-,” you can’t continue, your words getting caught in your throat. You wonder if the pain in your chest will be enough to kill you.
“Oh, oh. Oh no.” Jihoon quickly moves to you, sinking down to his knees as well. You bury your face in his chest and sob. Jihoon cries too. Soft, silent tears, his chest taking shaky breaths every once in a while.
You cry and you cry and you cry until it’s it dark out and then you eventually just…stop crying. You’re too dehydrated and your head hurts and you know that crying won’t do anything. It won’t bring Hansol back, and at it sure as well won’t help you avenge his death.
Jihoon helps you back to the shelter and you basically fall to the ground as soon as you get back. Pain is overtaking your whole body and as soon as you hit the ground your eyes white out and the world goes black. Your last thought before you pass out is that there’s only six people left now, and District 2 is going to get it.

I have this theory that Josh has a slight pain kink and is into overstimulation. I do too so like..I just think about him continuing to fuck you after you’ve both cummed and neither of you want to stop because it hurts so good. You’re begging him to keep going while he’s desperately moaning and snapping his hips against your own. 🤤
These new pics of Josh has me absolutely bending over backwards for this man.
Oh I know this man has to be vocal in bed, I would be utterly shocked if he isn't, like I am so positive I would bet my entire bank account on that right now. Just the way he would moan and cry out your name while he cums deep inside of you while you ride him. He wouldn’t pull you off of him like other guys in the past have, he would hold you even closer. His grip on your hips so tight as he makes you slam down on to him over and over.
He is a wreck the entire time, "Fuck, oh god, shitshitshitshit. Mmm fuck baby, holy shit you feel-ah fuck- you feel so good, so so good." His voice hoarse and rough as his head falls back until he snaps up, practically doubling over with you in his arms. His hands grip holding on to your back like you are the only life raft that could keep him from falling into a stormy sea, to be taken out into the tide of pure pleasure that washes over him, all consuming, mind, body and soul. You can feel him fucking all of the cum out of you, dripping down your thighs and onto Josh. You don't wanna stop, the way your pussy is pulsating around him, his whimpers and the neediness and desperation of him beneath you makes you feel like a goddess. "Fuck, Josh, oh baby fuck me please don't stop, don't stop, don't stop!" You cry out, your hands weaving into his hair, pulling him tighter to you, he bites down on your shoulder with a groan so deep and primal you can't control the orgasm that slams into you, this one so much more intense than the last and just like that you're falling apart in Josh's arms too.
Both of you are nearly in tears it just feels so good and its so fucking much more than you've ever felt, the pain and overstimulation only makes you more braindead. Soon you can no longer move your hips against his, your body spasming at the mere touch to your clit, your moans so pitiful and pure you can't even find the energy to hold them back. Josh and you sit there together, arms bound around each other, not daring to let go. Taking in the feeling of him going soft inside of you, both of you sighing and gasping when you feel the other shift or when you can feel the cum run down to your ass and thighs. You two just continue to hold each other, catching your breaths, playing with the other's hair, little kisses on the other's skin, and stroking fingers over the other's spines, just coming down from some of the most intense sex you have both ever experienced.
"Fuck."
"Mmmm."

tags/warnings: female! reader, FINGERING, backstage quickies, shua’s not an idol, but he’s the main vocalist/guitarist in a local band, established relationship, very slight dirty talking

85. “i didn’t know you were so sensitive.”

[11:00 p.m.]
“goodnight, everyone!” you hear your boyfriend scream out, met with supportive roars from the audience. he runs backstage and embraces you the second he sees you, sweeping you off your feet momentarily. when he puts you down, you two share a sweet kiss.
“you were amazing, babe!” you exclaim. joshua, your boyfriend, is the main vocalist and guitarist of a band in your city. they’ve taken off within the past year and they’ve been selling out gigs left and right. tonight, they just finished the last concert of a six show series. you can feel his adrenaline as he smiles at you, caressing your cheek -trying to slow his breathing.
“i couldn’t have done this without you, y’know. thanks for supporting me these past few weeks.” you can hear the sincerity in his voice.
“no problem, honey. that’s what i’m here for,” you say as you bring him into a kiss, angling his neck so you can go deeper. he moans into your mouth, gripping at your waist.
you two continue to make out, ignoring the “get a room” comments from his band mates and tech staff as they pass you, joshua’s hands now moving from your waist to groping your breasts, sitting so pretty in the crop top you wear wearing.
he pulls away from you for a second, and you already miss his touch.
“do you wanna move someplace more private?” he whispers into your ear.
“yeah, not being interrupted would be nice,” you say as you hold onto his broad shoulders.
what you didn’t realize was that your idea of “a private place” was completely different from his. you assumed he was gonna take you back to his place, or at the very least his car.
you just ended up in a secluded area backstage.
“josh, i-i’ve never done this before.. backstage sex? what if someone catches us?” you slightly panic as he takes off your crop top, leaving you in your black bra and denim jeans. he then starts to unbutton and unzip your jeans, fingering teasing your clit from the outside by rubbing your panties.
“i doubt anyone will find us here, besides - they all saw us earlier. they’ll think twice before they look for us,” he smirks as he goes inside your panties, and you moan out at the feeling of two of his fingers pleasuring you.
“mmm, i didn’t know you were so sensitive.. are you like this after all the shows?”
“i think this is just for tonight.. it’s your last show for a minute, and i get you all to myself. i guess that would make me a bit horny,” you bite your lip as you make eye contact with him.
“nice to know,” he smiles as he inserts another finger inside of you, and you grip onto his arms, your moans growing louder and more consistent.
“josh, j-josh - i-i think i’m getting close,” you whimper, your body letting you know that your orgasm was not that far off.
“already? we just got started baby!” he laughs, clearly enjoying how far gone you were for him. “i guess this means we’ll have even more fun back at my place - getting you to cum over and over until my bedsheets are filled with your juices.. would you like that, honey? me making you cum so much all night?”
his words send you over the edge and you cum all over his fingers, gasping for air after experiencing such a high.
“damn josh.. you really know how to pleasure a girl,” you laugh breathlessly, rubbing his chest and feeling his muscles.
he smirks at you, more than satisfied with how he’s left you. “you wanna skip dinner with the band? we can just pick up something and get to what we have planned.”
“say less,” you say without hesitation.
and true to his word, later that night, he did fill his bedsheets with your juices.

Six Weeks // JTK
Tumblr media
Pairing: Jake x Reader
Warning: Fluff
Author's Note: Full House has been inspiring me lately. Quick little Jake blurb.
Summary: You and Jake begin making plans for your wedding.
Relaxing in the living room with his guitar resting on his lap, Jake strums a random melody that’s been swimming around in his head for the past three days. He’s so focused on his playing that he doesn’t even notice you walking into the room. That is until you’re sitting in front of him on the coffee table. He lifts his eyes to look at you, not once faltering as he continues playing.
You give him a wide smile and he chuckles.
“Okay..” He smiles as he halts his playing and puts his guitar off to the side. “What do you want?”
“Your mom’s asking if we picked a venue and a date yet.” You say.
“No, we haven’t.” He says. “Though we should soon.”
“Yes and I was thinking we could do that now,” You say. “If you don’t mind.”
Jake shrugs his shoulders. “I don’t mind.”
“Great. Do you have any ideas?” You say as you move to sit next to him on the couch.
“Pirates.”
Your shoulders drop. “Pirates?” Jake eagerly nods his head. “Jake, I adore your love for pirates, you know I do. But I do not want pirates at our wedding.”
“Oh come on babe, think about it.” Jake stands from the couch and walks around the room. “It’d be so much fun.”
“So not happening.”
“Okay, so what do you have in mind?”
“I was thinking maybe something simple, small. Oh there's this perfect little white chapel in my hometown that would just be the most beautiful place to have it.”
“Babe, it’s too country for me.”
You feign offense. “No it’s not.”
“Yes, it is. I am not wearing cowboy boots and yelling “yeehaw” when we tie the knot.”
You cross your arms over your chest. “You won’t have to wear cowboy boots and yell “yeehaw”. But I don’t want to struggle down the aisle wearing a dress that cuts off all air to my lungs and looking like I just stepped out of a Johnny Depp movie.”
The front door opens and Josh steps into the house. “Well hello my lovely engaged couple. Have we settled on a place and date yet?”
“Currently figuring that out now.” Jake says. “But she doesn’t like my ideas.”
“Let me guess, pirates?” Josh says, raising an eyebrow.
“He wants to dress as a pirate.” You say as you stand from the couch.
“I don’t think mom would like that either.” Josh says, noting the look on your face.
“Well help us out here.” Jake says.
“Umm no..” Josh says, shaking his head. “I really only came by to pick up those lyric sheets.”
“Oh right, right.” Jake sighs. “I’ll be right back.”
When he leaves the room, you grab hold of Josh’s shirt in the grip of your hands. “Help me please.” You beg.
“Woah there babe,” He says, prying your hands off of his shirt. “Damn, I just ironed this shirt too.”
“You gotta convince Jake to pick the white chapel. Please. It’s super simple and small and intimate.”
“Babe, I don’t like meddling with yours and Jake’s issues. Especially something like this.”
“If you don’t do this, you’re gonna be standing on that altar wearing a pirate costume.”
“Would it be that bad?”
“Oh Josh..”
He laughs and lays his hands on your shoulders. “I’m kidding.. But like I said, I’m not meddling.”
You groan and stomp your foot. “You suck..”
Jake comes back into the living room and hands the lyric sheets to Josh. “I added a few more things, I hope you don’t mind.”
Josh shakes his head. “Not at all.” He says as he reads what Jake added. “In fact I think you made it more intimate.” He says and shoots you a wink.
Jake narrows his eyes at you. “What’d you tell him?”
You shake your head. “Nothing.”
“I have to go.” Josh says. “Have fun!” He quickly slips out of the living room slamming the front door closed behind him.
Jake folds his arms over his chest. “Let’s compromise.” He says.
“Okay, compromise how?”
“I’ll do small and intimate but you have to-”
“I’ll let you dress like Johnny Depp.”
“Hoop earrings?”
“Fine.”
“Okay so we’ve got that settled,” Jake says as he pulls you into his arms. “What about a date?”
“It has to be special.” You say looking up at him.
“What if we made it easy?” He says. “Make it the day we met.”
“That would be perfect.” You say.
“Alright then it’s all done,” He says. “I’ll call the chapel in the morning and get it booked.”
“Jake..”
“Yeah?”
“Tomorrow is Sunday. The preacher won’t be available.”
“Mmmkay, I’ll call on Monday.” He says. He hugs you tightly. “Geez, can you believe that in six weeks we’ll be married?”
You smack your hands to his chest. “Six weeks?!” You exclaim. “Shit, Jake! That means we only have six weeks to find my dress and you need a tux and catering and we can’t forget about the flowers. Oh god, we have to get the save the dates out and the invites and–”
“Babe, babe!” Jake chuckles. “It’s going to be okay. You’re freaking out over things that we can get help with.”
“What if we eloped?” You say. “Quick and simple and-”
“No offense babe, I’d marry you tonight if we could but my mother would kill me if she doesn’t get to see us get married.” He grabs your hands. “Listen, I’m calling the chapel on Monday and after that I’ll rope Josh into helping me find a caterer while you go with Ronnie and my mom to look for a dress.” He still holds your hands and presses a gentle kiss to the top of your knuckles. “We can do this."

Masterlist- to start from the beginning
__________________________________________
“I was hoping maybe we would have a moment alone together,” Andy said as he moved forward, raising his hand above your head and trapping you in the closet with his body.
“You know, as much as I’d love to stay and chat, I really need to get these shoes back to Sam. I told them I’d be right back so,” you said as you started to push past Andy. He placed a large hand on your shoulder and pushed you back into the closet. “Why are you in such a rush, hm?” he asked, his face getting uncomfortably close to yours. “Because, Andy, I have a job I need to do. And if you don’t get out of my way, I promise this won’t end well for you,” you replied, your sharpness surprising you. He pushed you back again, his hands likely leaving a mark as he squeezed you harder. “I just need three minutes,” he said as he leaned forward, his hands fumbling with your clothes.
“Three minutes is about all you have to get the fuck out of my sight,” a voice barked from the corner. Andy jumped backwards, his hands leaving you immediately. You turned to see Danny standing with his arms crossed, Emily by his side, eyes wide as she talked into a walkie talkie. “You heard me. Go. Don’t be surprised if you don’t have a job after this gets back to your boss,” Danny said, his voice loud and threatening, a stark difference from his usually either soft-spoken or goofy demeanor.
Andy turned and pointed a finger at Danny. “I have a contract, you can’t just dismiss me. I didn’t even do anything! We were just talking!” Andy spat. Danny looked past him to you. “Is that true?” he asked, his voice gentle. You shook your head. “You make my team uncomfortable, you get booted. I don’t care what the contract says. Try and fight me- I am sure the lawyers we have on retainer will have a field day with you,” Danny replied with a sneer. Two security guards boarded the bus and Emily pointed towards Andy. They moved to grab ahold of him, but he threw his arms up and walked towards the front of the bus.
Emily was at your side in an instant, taking hold of you and pulling you into her chest. Danny explained the situation to the security guards who nodded before following Andy off the bus. You took a deep, shaky breath before pulling away from Emily. “Are you okay?” Danny asked, instinctively reaching out to place a hand on your shoulder but stopping. “I’m okay. I’m just glad you guys showed up,” you replied with a weak smile. “Okay, well lets head back inside, no use hanging out here,” Emily said, taking your hand and leading you behind her back into the venue.
Emily dropped you back off in Josh’s dressing room, sitting you on the couch and promising you she’d be back as soon as she made some calls to replace Andy and get him fired from the company.
Josh's voice brought you back to reality. “Oh, I’m going to kill him,” Josh barked as he shot up from his seat, face red after Danny had explained what had just happened. “Josh, he’s already been taken care of, it’s not going to help anything. Besides, what are you gonna do? Do a routine in your dance costume? Chill out,” Jake said.
“It’s ice skating,” you said quietly and Jake bent down next to you. “You’re right, I’m sorry,” Jake said softly, reaching out to gently take Sam’s shoes from you. You hadn’t even noticed you’d had them, but the marks in the soft leather proved you’d been clutching them rather hard for the past few minutes.
You looked up to see four sets of brown eyes staring at you intensely. Josh’s eyes were hardened with anger over the situation, Danny’s had softened into worry and Jake’s were deep with concern. Sam was a little harder to read.
“I shouldn’t have asked about the shoes. Or I should have just grabbed them myself,” Sam said quietly as he came to sit down next to you. “Sam, there’s no way you could’ve known this would have happened. And wardrobe is my job, you have other things to focus on,” you replied. “I’m still sorry,” he whispered.
You stood up, crossing your arms. “You guys are treating me like something horrible happened. It didn’t. Luckily Danny showed up at the perfect time. Besides, Andy is gone, we have nothing more to worry about. And we have a job to do. The first set of openers are on and only one of you is dressed so, please, go get ready so I can do my job and ensure everything is perfect before you have to go do yours,” you said, your voice more steady and confident than you felt.
Sam was the first one to move, standing and nodding before heading out into the hall. “Okay, but we will be following up when the dust has settled,” Danny said, giving you a stern look before following after Sam. Jake stayed for a moment, deep in contemplation. He had sat on the coffee table facing you and his eyes traced over you, looking for something. Finally, he spoke. “If you want to move along, we will. But I want you to know that this isn’t just some little thing. And it’s okay to not be okay.” You nodded and reached forward to squeeze his shoulder before motioning to the door. He nodded and headed after his brothers, closing the door on the way out.
That left you and Josh, alone in the room where you’d had so many electrifying feelings just minutes before. Your encounter with Alan had zapped any spark you had felt. You took a deep breath. Now is not the time to break down.
The couch cushions dipped next to you as Josh filled the space that had been utterly empty after Sam had left. You could feel his hesitation as he wrestled his want to support you with his want to maintain your comfort. You decided to close the gap between you and answer his unspoken question of whether or not you could handle touch at the moment. The second your head rested against Josh, the tears started. He wrapped his arms around you and pulled you into him, the sequined portions of his jumpsuit acting as a painful contrast to the warmth of his embrace.
You sat together for a moment, your breathing slowing as you calmed yourself back down. “I’m so sorry. I can’t even imagine how scary that must have been,” he whispered against your hair. You took in a deep breath- he was right, it was scary. You nodded against his chest and he pulled you closer to him. Somehow, just being connected physically to him seemed to help ease your anxiety.
You sat back, taking in a deep breath. “I’m sorry. I’m okay, I promise,” you said as you reached for a kleenex to clean your face. “Don’t be sorry. And, like Jake said, it’s okay to not be okay,” Josh said as he reached out to place a hand gently over yours. You nodded and finished wiping your face. “Yes, but I am okay. I will be. And we have a show to focus on,” you said, giving him a weak smile.
You composed yourself just in time for Sam to burst back through the dressing room door. He was panicked and you stood, instantly absorbing some of his panic. “What Sam? What’s wrong?” you asked, looking him over to try to find the problem. “The button!” he said as he pointed to the button on his pants. Sure enough, the button above the fly had fallen off and was missing.
“Okay, see, this is why we get ready a little early,” you said as you turned to look for your bookbag. You found it in the corner and pulled a tackle box out of the main pocket. “Alright, take them off,” you instructed as you opened your makeshift sewing kit. “I should’ve just made these elastic,” you hissed to yourself as you searched for the right sized button as Sam stripped the pants off. He handed them to you and you started your repair.
Completely zeroed in and focused, you were able to attach the button within seconds. “Shit, you’re fast,” Sam noted as he took the pants back from you, carefully sliding them on and testing the button. “Alright, one fire out. Where are the other two?” you asked.
As if on cue, Danny and Jake walked in at almost the same moment. They both turned to show you the entire outfit, and you nodded to each of them. “Looks good. Do either of you have any issues?” you asked as you put away your makeshift sewing kit. They both shook their heads and you nodded. “Alright, you guys are good to go then,” you said, forcing a smile.
They all watched you in silence as you packed your things back up into your bag. “Are you still watching? From seats? With Ava?” Sam asked. You turned to face him, aligning your backpack down by the side of the couch. “Yeah, I guess,” you answered. “Well, let me make you a drink then,” Sam added with a smile. He headed over to the corner of the room to inspect the selection in Josh’s dressing room.
Sam made a disgruntled noise before turning and heading towards the door. “Josh, you have a shit selection. Don’t worry, I have better stuff on my rider,” Sam added as he headed out into the hall. Josh had sat down on the couch and patted the cushion next to him. “Come sit. Sam will be a minute,” Josh said gently. Jake and Danny had wandered off into the hall and were chatting with some of the techs, likely talking shop. Emily popped her head in and pointed at you. “I’ll be back in a minute. Are you okay?” she asked and you nodded.
Josh gently laid a hand over yours. “You are okay?” he whispered and you nodded. “If people keep asking me if I’m okay though, I’m going to not be okay,” you said with a chuckle. Josh gave you a sympathetic laugh and you saw him nod out of the corner of your eye as you texted Ava.
You: Still good to watch from seats?
Ava: Hell yeah! I’ll be down to get you in a minute!
“What’s the setlist for tonight? Did you guys finalize the ‘normal’ one you talked about?” you asked, turning to face Josh. He gave you a smug smile before shaking his head. “It’s a surprise. I think you could use a good surprise right now,” you said, his smile softening. “I suppose I could use one,” you added with a nod.
Sam came back into the room, dragging Ava behind him. “Look who I found! And, I brought you this,” Sam exclaimed, pushing a drink into your hand. He watched you and nodded, waiting for you to take a sip. You did and instantly made a face. “Fuck Sam, that’s strong!” you choked and he nodded proudly. “Good! That means you’ll have a great time. I made Ava one too,” he said, pointing to the matching drink she was holding. “Less strong though, because I apparently don’t hold liquor well,” she said before flipping Sam off. “Oh, and a shot! For good luck!” Sam added, grabbing a bottle of vodka and some shot glasses he’d dropped onto the table upon entering the room. He poured four shots and handed you one.
You slammed the shot and made a face. “Fuck, I hate vodka,” you said through gritted teeth. Josh shook his head at the shot Sam tried to hand him. You took it from Sam and shot it back, chasing it with your strong drink. “Well, that was a choice,” Sam said with a laugh. “I’ve had quite the evening Sam, and you’re the one bringing me drinks,” you added and he shrugged. “Touche,” Sam retorted.
Jake and Danny came back in and Jake poured his own shot before downing it. “Sam, Jason has a bass question,” Jake said after straightening, pointing towards the hall. Sam nodded and reached over to squeeze Ava’s shoulder. “Make sure she makes it back on the bus, huh?” he said, motioning to you before heading out into the hall.
“Wanna try?” you asked Danny, offering him your drink. “Did Sam make that?” he asked and you nodded. “Then respectfully, hell no. I have a job to do still, but you should definitely enjoy that,” he added, giving you a smile.
One of the techs poked his head into the room. “Two minutes guys, let’s go,” he barked. Josh turned to give your shoulders a squeeze before turning to Ava. “Make sure she makes it back in one piece please,” Josh said with a chuckle. “You guys are acting like she drank half the mini bar, relax and go put on a show for us,” Ava said, pushing them out into the hall. “See you afterwards,” Danny said with a smile before turning to head towards the stage.
Ava pulled you the opposite direction, both of you scrambling to put on your credentials and find the seats you’d been given for the show. The seats were much closer than you thought you’d be, nearly a few feet away from Sam’s side of the stage. You and Ava took your seats and did some people watching before the lights turned down and the monologue started. “This may be the third rendition of the monologue and I have heard it tons of times, but it still gives me chills,” Ava whispered. You nodded as you listened to Josh ramble, his word choice always utterly poetic.
The curtain dropped and you couldn’t help but smile as you saw your designs come to life by the people you’d grown to love as they did what they enjoyed the most. Everything fit perfectly, the red stark against the crisp white and grays of the set design, bringing life to each move they made.
You sipped your drink as you listened, your eyes never leaving Josh. He had such a magnetic presence about him, a star quality unlike anything you’d ever seen. Josh moved effortlessly, his jumpsuit an extension of self as he moved across the stage. “These may be my favorite designs yet,” Ava yelled to you over the music. You nodded, tears filling your eyes as you watched the art and music meld into one.
Sam took his jacket off, carefully handing it to a stagehand before finishing the drink he’d placed on his piano, chucking it off to the side of the stage. “Thank god he didn’t throw that jacket,” you said with a laugh. “He knows better,” Ava replied with a chuckle. You watched her for a moment and realized she had been watching Sam with the same look of awe you’d likely watched Josh with. I need to ask Sam about that. You turned back to see Sam walk towards your seats, blowing you and Ava a kiss before jumping back onto the stage. The people in the seats next to you screamed and you swore the woman to your left nearly fainted. You turned to Ava and both of you laughed as you sipped on your drinks. I fear these people have no idea who we are.
The show continued and you remained utterly starstruck. The presence they had on stage was unlike anything you’d seen, and seeing it live and so close altered how you thought of them as people and performers. You knew these were characters they played, but you saw small glimpses of who they were privately too. You saw the real Danny when he watched Sam, always laughing at his best friend. Sam turned back into his goofy self when he saw something in the crowd that caught his attention, his focus fleeting for only a moment. Jake and Josh were their normal selves when they connected on stage, their bond unmistakeable.
Ava nudged you as you finished your drink. “We should head back now, they’re almost done,” she said and you nodded. She stood, helping you up as you headed out of the aisle and up the stairs. Both of you laughed as you headed towards backstage, throwing your cups away before showing the security guard your credentials. He nodded and let you both through without an issue.
Emily was the first familiar face you saw once you got back to the dressing rooms. “There you are! I wanted to check in on you,” she said as she hurried over. “Oh, you had one of Sam’s drinks, didn’t you?” Emily asked, her face paling as she backed up. “God, the smell of alcohol makes me queasy,” Emily added as she found her way to a chair. “I got you guys pizza, once again. It was actually Jake who wanted it this time, to my surprise. It’ll be here at,” she checked her phone, “shit, now. Ava can you be a dear and go meet the delivery person out back?” Ava nodded and headed towards the back lot.
Emily patted the seat next to her and you went to take a seat. She fished in her backpack and pulled out a piece of gum, shoving it into your hand. “Please, dear god, chew that,” she said with a grimace. You obliged. “I didn’t even drink that much, I think you’re just overly sensitive and pregnant,” you added and she shook her head. “If you had a Sam drink, it had at least three shots in it,” she said, giving you a knowing glance. You held both hands up, “okay, well I’m still sober enough to function.”
Emily nodded and turned to face you, the gum apparently working. “Andy was fired, and they have a replacement headed out now. He should actually be here soon,” she checked her phone again, “luckily in time to head out. Dean said he will be driving your bus until Albert is back or the end of the tour, whichever comes first. No exceptions.”
You took a deep breath and flopped back into the couch, tension you didn’t even realize you had leaving your body. “Thank god. How is Albert?” you asked. “Great actually. He’s out of surgery and they’re expecting a full recovery. They’re hoping to take him back home to Tennessee in the next few days. I talked to his wife and she wants to meet you. They’re hoping you’ll come and visit during our break time.”
The good news made you smile. “Of course. You’ll have to give me their info. When I’m more sober than this,” you added with a chuckle. “Oh, for sure. Listen, legally I don’t think there’s much we can do against Andy. But, he did get fired from the company and he’s blacklisted from transport for the foreseeable future,” Emily said, placing a hand on yours. “That’s fine. I really just wanted him fired so he couldn’t pull that shit again,” you said, giving her a tight smile. “Okay, well, if you need anything, you let me know. Okay?” she said, leaning forward to pull you into a hug.
Emily pulled away, gagging slightly. “God, you stink like vodka,” she choked and you scooted further from her. “Let me go figure out this food situation,” Emily said before heading towards where Ava was ushering in a few venue staff who were carrying pizza boxes. You stood too and decided to see what needed to be done to help.
“So, what’d you think?” The voice came from behind you and you jumped before spinning to see Sam standing behind you, a huge grin on his face. “Of what?” you asked, thrown off by his abruptness. “Well, the show of course,” Jake added as he came up behind Sam, unbuttoning his pants as he put an arm around his brother. “What are you doing all that for,” you said pointing to where his pants were now hanging open. Jake laughed and pushed past you as he headed for his dressing room.
“The man always strips before it’s time. You should’ve seen him this one time we came off stage and we didn’t know there was a group of like, big wigs all waiting to congratulate us, and he just walks out and his dick is practically out and,” Sam rambled. Josh walked up next to Sam and held his hand up, silencing Sam. “Go shower please, Sam,” Josh said, giving him a sideways glance. Sam rolled his eyes but nodded and headed off towards his dressing room.
“You good?” Josh asked before shaking his head. “Let me try that again. You feeling that drink?” he asked and you nodded with a laugh. “Yeah, I think it hit about halfway through whatever Sam was saying just now,” you said as you turned to walk with him. “I’ll get your thoughts on the performance on the bus. Please go eat something,” Josh said before pointing you towards the table scattered with various types of pizza.
How you ended up on the bus, you have no idea. But here you sat, Josh to your right and a plate of pizza in your lap as the bus rolled onto the highway. You picked up the slice from your plate and took your bite, nodding as you chewed. “So, your thoughts,” Josh inquired as he turned to face you. “I’ll be honest with you, I don’t think I can form sentences that describe what I saw in enough detail,” you said as you chewed. Jake laughed from across the bus and you turned to look at him. “Sam is a hell of a bartender,” Jake added with a smile.
You nodded, taking another bite of your pizza. “Is it just me or is there a thing going on?” you asked. Josh stiffened slightly beside you and you felt the air crackle with tension. “What do you mean,” Jake asked, clearly feigning nonchalance. Even when I’m drunk I can read these men like a book. We are spending way too much time together. “Ava and Sam, duh,” you said with a chuckle.
Josh relaxed next to you. “Oh, yeah. I think they’re a thing and they’re just trying to go as long as they can thinking it’s a secret,” Jake said with a laugh. “I think she’s good for him, honestly. But they’re both kinda stupid,” Josh added.
You sat back on the bench and laughed. “I’m so glad he’s moved right along,” you said as you reflected on that desperate drunken kiss he’d pressed against your lips a few weeks earlier. You felt Josh’s eyes snap onto you and you looked up to see Jake giving you a questioning glance. “Oh shit, did he not tell you guys?” you said with a laugh. “Oh, no, I’ve said too much. I’m just going to eat my pizza,” you said, suddenly aware of how loose your lips were.
“Please tell me you did not have sex with him,” Jake said, his voice filled with dread as he stared intently at Josh. “Uh, hello, I’m over here,” you said and his eyes snapped to focus on you. “Did you?” Jake asked, repeating his question. “Fuck no,” you replied with a laugh as you took another bite of your pizza.
Jake took a deep breath. “Thank god,” he said quietly. “What are you freaking out about?” you asked and Jake shook his head. “He’s an idiot. And I wouldn’t want you to have to deal with him,” Jake added with a shrug.
Josh had been uncharacteristically still as you had talked. You turned to him. “And what’s your deal, hmm?” Josh shrugged, “nothing.” His voice was flat, which worried you. “Jesus, you guys are stressing me out. He kissed me when he was super drunk and it was hilarious. For both of us. End of story,” you said, leaning back into the bench. “Oh, okay,” Josh said, shooting Jake a glance. “We will be having a discussion about that, for sure,” Josh added, shaking his head.
You could tell he had relaxed slightly, but you felt your mouth opening once again. “You’re not one to judge,” you said, pointing to Josh. He caught your glance and shook his head slightly, as if he was silently begging you not to expand upon your thought. The way he was staring you down seemed to instantly sober you up and you nodded. Just shut up.
______________________________________
You woke up in your bunk, the sounds of the road whooshing quietly underneath you. You found your way to the main portion of the bus and found Jake and Josh sitting at the middle table. “Hey,” Jake greeted with a smile. “What time is it?” you asked, your eyes adjusting to the dim light coming through the shades covering the windows. “Uh, 9:00?” Josh answered, turning to hand you a coffee cup. “It’s chai. I made it for me but I think you need it more,” Josh said with a chuckle. You nodded and took a seat at the end of the table.
“How far are we?” you asked, handing Josh his cup back after taking a long sip. “Two hours out. We are in traffic though and have been for about an hour. So who knows, honestly,” Jake answered, turning to pick up a guitar from the bench behind him. You nodded and started on your wardrobe cleaning routine, something you’d neglected to do last night. The routine calmed you and you fell into a rhythm as you listened to Jake strum lazily.
Josh had moved to the opposite side of the bus and was buried in his sketchbook. “Did I end up saving some of your stuff?” you asked and Josh looked up, his concentration broken. You thought back to the drawings of you, the words he’d written so carefully in the margins. It was nothing. Josh nodded and gave you a smile. “I don’t know how you did it, but you saved most of it,” he said, his grin widening. “The most prized possession, saved,” Jake dug lightheartedly and Josh flipped him off. “And if it was your precious guitar, what would you have done?” Josh shot back and Jake nodded. “You’re right, you’re right,” Jake said, lifting his hands in agreement.
The procession stopped at a local bagel shop one of the roadies had recommended to pick up breakfast. You caught Jake giving Sam a warning glance that wiped the smile off of his face before the group filed into the small brick building located just off of the freeway. Sam made his way over to you, leaning to whisper in your ear. “What’s their deal?” he asked, giving you a nudge. Shit. “So I may have accidentally told them about that time you kissed me,” you whispered back, turning to keep an eye on Josh and Jake, who were at the counter ordering.
“You what?” Sam wheezed, his voice raising slightly above a whisper. Ava, who had been standing next to Sam, turned to look at the two of you. Sam gave her a smile before turning back to you. “Well, it’s not like anything happened and you were drunk so it’s not like it meant anything,” you replied, turning to look back at the menu as the twins came your way.
“So,” Jake said quietly, breaking the tension. “Look, I know you guys are probably mad at me about what she told you, but it was a total mistake and-” Sam started but was cut off by Josh raising his hand. He then did something you didn’t expect- he laughed. His laugh was infectious and soon Jake started to chuckle too. “We are just glad she didn’t quit on us, but you can’t just be kissing people all the time Samuel,” Josh chastised. Ava popped her head around Sam, her eyes wide. “What?” she asked, an air of panic in her voice. “Oh, uh, nothing. What are you going to get?” Sam asked as he turned to point at the menu, effectively ending the conversation.
Once everyone had gotten their orders, you headed back to the buses. “Can I ride with you?” Danny asked as he jogged to catch up to you. “Of course,” you replied with a smile as you watched Josh head directly for your bus, seemingly an automatic choice. “I’ll join you again I think,” Jake said and you nodded, gesturing for him to board the bus.
You were the last on the bus and took your usual seat. “No Sam?” you asked and Danny shrugged. “Ava had an interview thing she needed him to do. Something about the production he did on that one album. I can’t remember which one,” Danny added, shaking his head as he unwrapped his sandwich. “Interesting,” Jake replied before taking a bite of his sandwich.
The ride was quiet while everyone ate, the exhaustion settling in. You were able to make the needed changes to the outfits for the next show by the time the buses pulled into the hotel parking lot.
Everyone sat and waited for the inevitable hurricane that was Emily to board the bus, barking instructions and updates, but she didn’t show. “Let me text the force of nature,” Jake said, pulling his phone out of his pocket. As soon as he started to type, Emily appeared, her face white. “Shit Em, you good?” Danny asked as he stood, placing a gentle hand on her shoulder.
“Fantastic,” she huffed as she took Danny’s spot on the bench. She shook her head before pulling her clipboard out from under her arm. She unclipped the room keys from the board and handed them out. “I gave Sam the set to your room,” Emily told Danny and he nodded. “Is he coming over for the briefing or-” Jake asked and Emily shook her head. “No, you can fill him in,” she said with a tight smile. You shot Josh a look- something was off. Sensing the tension, Jake prompted Emily to continue. “So, what’s the plan for today, boss lady?”
Emily nodded, bouncing back to her usual self. “Well, you have the rest of today and tomorrow off. I know there’s a group wanting to go to the beach tomorrow. They wanted to go today, but the weather is obviously not the best,” Emily said before gesturing to the windows. It had started to rain, ugly dark storm clouds continuously rolling in. “Todd’s parents run one of the local restaurants so we are going to dinner there. But, other than that, I think the rest of the afternoon is free and open,” Emily finished with a sigh, flopping back into the bench and closing her eyes. You all exchanged glances- something was going on and you couldn’t tell if it was just pregnancy or something more serious. “God I would kill for a Crunchwrap supreme right now,” Emily blurted out, the group erupting in chuckles and agreement.
Emily sat up, placing a hand on her belly absentmindedly. “Alright, so I will be going to Taco Bell. Who wants in?” she asked. Everyone nodded in agreement- cheap Mexican food sounded surprisingly good. Sam walked down the hallway, face flushed and eyes wide. “Ah, just in time for Taco Bell, why am I not surprised?” Jake said with a chuckle. Sam gave Emily a nod before taking a seat on the bench across from her. “I can go get it,” Sam offered, giving Emily a tense smile. “Yes, you can. Take Daniel too, I don’t trust you by yourself,” Emily added before scribbling something on a piece of paper. She handed the paper and pen to you. She had written her order on the top of the page and you followed suit.
A few minutes later, Sam and Danny took off in search of any other orders and keys to a van. Josh and Jake had turned and were packing up their stuff when Emily turned to you. “You know Ava pretty well, right?” she whispered and you scooted closer before nodding. “I know her well enough. I figure you know her better though,” you said with a smile. Emily shook her head and leaned in. “I just caught her and Sam together. Did you know about this?” she said quietly and your eyes widened. You shook your head and chuckled. “No, but I guess it makes sense. Why?” you asked. Emily shook her head, clearly stressed. “Emily, what’s wrong? They’re consenting adults, who cares what they do?” you added with a chuckle.
Emily shot you a look. “I have a feeling he’s going to fuck this up like he always does and then we will be losing a vital member of our team,” she said quietly. If only she knew about the conversation that had happened earlier. You shook your head, placing a hand over the one she had draped over her knee. “It’s fine. Ava is smart- she wouldn’t get into anything she couldn’t handle. And they’re not serious or anything, so it’s fine. I’m sure it’s just tight quarters and long hours taking their toll. I’ll keep an eye on her too, okay?” you added and Emily nodded. “Yes, well,” she stood, straightening her shirt before turning back to you. “I’m going to lay in bed and await my Crunchwrap delivery. I suggest you both,” she pointed to the twins, “rest and stay out of trouble. Please?” They both nodded and the three of you watched Emily head off of the bus.
Josh turned to give you a devilish grin. “Do you smoke?” he asked and you raised your brow. “Smoke what?” you asked. Josh dug in his bag and pulled out a transparent orange pill container that contained a few pre-rolled joints. Josh gave Jake a smirk, which Jake returned. You took a step forward, taking the container from him and inspecting it closer. “How’d you get this? It’s illegal in the south,” you said quietly. “We have our ways,” Jake replied with a chuckle. “It pays to be rich and famous,” Josh added as he slung his arm over your shoulder. He put the container into his pocket and pulled you along with him down the bus hallway. “Let’s go find a spot before the boys get back with our food,” Josh said with a chuckle.
If someone had told you that you’d be eating Taco Bell and smoking a joint with your employers in the future, you wouldn’t have believed them. Yet, here you were, taking a bite of your second taco as you watched Josh Kiszka take a long drag of the second joint of the afternoon. The way he exhaled the smoke through his nose made you weak in a way you didn’t know it could. You’d smoked a little here and there when Jen was able to smuggle some weed back home for you, but it was hard to access in the south and you didn’t have time to go looking.
Jake took the next hit before handing the end of the blunt to you. “Finish us off,” Sam said from his spot reclined in a lounge chair. You took a deep drag and coughed slightly before passing it to Danny who refused, handing it to Sam instead. “Wouldn’t you like that,” you quipped and Sam let out a laugh before putting the joint to his lips. “Dirty,” Sam said as he exhaled, smoke curling its way around his sharp features. You rolled your eyes and relaxed back into your own chair.
“Well, I’d rather fall asleep in a bed after that,” Danny said as he stood. He pulled Sam up from his sunken spot, patting him lightly on the cheek. “Yeah, you need some sleep after that,” Danny added, leading his friend towards the hotel. “Shit, a nap sounds fucking splendid,” Jake said as he stood too, gathering the trash from your picnic lunch. “Josh?” he asked as he turned to throw the trash into the nearby garbage can. “Mmmm, leave me here,” Josh said as he settled back into the cushions of an outdoor couch. “Fine. You good?” Jake asked and you nodded. “Yeah. I’ll keep an eye on him,” you added with a chuckle. Jake gave you a salute before heading back towards the hotel.
You and Josh sat in the silence for a moment, enjoying the quiet. The clouds had stayed, but the sun was starting to peek through, warming your skin. “You look comfy,” you said and Josh grunted in agreement. “More comfortable than that thing,” he said, motioning to the wicker chair you were sitting in. He patted the space next to him. “Come on,” he invited.
Crossing the deck and sitting down on the edge of the couch was something you didn’t even register doing until you felt Josh’s warm hand on your knee. “Here, come here,” he whispered, pulling you down onto the couch. You obliged, the warmth of his body comforting you and stilling your reeling brain. Both of you shifted until you were laying side by side, pressed against each other. Josh reached out and took your hand in his, bringing it to his chest. “Is my heart beating slow or fast?” he asked. You took a moment to feel his heart pounding against the back of hand. “I don’t know, I guess normal?” you answered with a chuckle. “Oh good, because it feels like it may just come out of my chest,” he said with a sigh. “Why’s that? Are you anxious? I wouldn’t take you to have an anxious high,” you said, turning slightly to face him more.
Josh shook his head and chuckled. “No, it’s only because you’re here. Next to me,” he said quietly. “Oh, I can go,” you said, starting to rise before he pulled you back down next to him. “No,” was all he uttered before tucking his head into your shoulder. You laid still, not daring to move as you focused on your breathing. He’s just high, this doesn’t mean anything.
_________________________________________
A gentle hand shaking the body next to you woke you up. It was starting to get dark now and you were sweating profusely. An arm was draped over your stomach and you turned to see that it was attached to Josh, who looked equally as confused as you. “It’s time to get ready for dinner,” Jake said gently. Jake watched as you and Josh pulled your bodies apart and straightened yourselves. He didn’t seem angry, but there was a strange feeling lingering in the air as Josh stood, turning to pull you up from the couch.
“I don’t think I’ve ever had a nap that good. Whatever strain that was, it was magical,” Josh said as you trailed behind Jake towards the hotel. You nodded in agreement, although you weren’t sure how much of your relaxed state was due to the weed or being pressed against a warm body as you baked in the Florida sun.
The elevator ride up to your floor was quiet. “Emily said we are leaving at 7:00, so we will see you in about twenty-five minutes,” Jake said to you as he and Josh headed down the hall. You nodded and inserted the key card into the door of your room.
Twenty-five minutes was barely enough time to shower and change given your utterly relaxed state. The warm water of the shower stung as it hit your freshly sunburnt skin, the pain grounding you in reality once again. You dried yourself off and changed into a casual, loose outfit to protect your sensitive skin. There wasn’t enough time to do makeup or your hair, so you left it to air dry as you gathered your purse and headed out the door, only a minute late.
You walked out into the hall and your phone rang. “Hey Em, I’m coming down right now,” you answered as you ensured your room was closed and locked before turning to head towards the elevator. “No! Go get Josh first please! Everyone else is loaded up and ready, we just need the two of you!” Emily said, her voice exasperated. You agreed and turned to walk back down the hall.
Double-checking the list of rooms Emily had sent out, you approached room 342 and knocked. There was no answer, so you knocked again. A moment later, the door flung open, an irritated Josh standing in the doorway. His face softened when he saw it was you. “Oh, hey,” he said quietly, giving you a slight smile. “I was sent to collect you. It seems we are both running late,” you said as you reached out to take his hands from off the door frame. “Hold on, phone,” he said before darting back into the room and reappearing a second later, tucking his phone into his pocket. He reached out to take your hand, pulling you behind him down the hall.
Josh didn’t let go of your hand until the elevator doors opened on the ground floor. You followed behind him, still tethered to him somehow. Emily was standing outside of the van, arms crossed when you both approached. “Get your asses on the van,  we are going to be late,” she chastised as she swung open the door and pushed you both inside.
It was dark and crowded- Emily had kept one last van for the stragglers, which ended up being more people than she’d thought. Josh sat in the last open seat and pulled you onto your lap, crossing his arms over your lap. You could barely breathe he was holding you so tight. “You ‘kay?” he whispered to you and you nodded, the street lamps barely illuminating your face.
But you were not okay, not in the slightest. You were still high and overcome with a feeling of desire unlike anything you’d ever felt. The urge to turn around and run your hands through Josh’s grown out curls and pull his mouth onto yours was so strong that it worried you.
Professional, professional professional you chanted to yourself, taking a breath after every third repetition. Josh must have felt your tension and eased up slightly on his hold. You continued to focus on your breathing, ignoring the conversations happening next to you. Josh stayed quiet too, likely in his own head from his high.
The restaurant was a smaller local establishment and you were greeted by the group when you made your way inside. Everyone was finding their seats but you joined Ava up at the bar.
“Hey,” she greeted with a smile as she was handed the beer she must have ordered. “Where’d you go today?” she asked as she took a sip. “Can I get a shot of tequila?” you asked and the bartender nodded, pouring you out a shot and sliding it to you. You nodded and shot it back, tapping the glass back on the counter before turning to face Ava. Her eyes were wide. “You okay?” she asked and you nodded although you knew she could tell you were lying. “Let’s go sit,” she said quietly as she led you towards the table.
You and Ava grabbed the last two seats at the end of the table and she watched you from over the menu. She leaned forward and asked you again about what you’d done today. “Would you believe me if I said I went and got high with them?” you answered as you leaned forward to dip a chip into the salsa that had been put on the table between you and Ava. She shook her head. “Yes, because I know Sam was high when I saw him today,” she said with a giggle. You cocked an eyebrow and she shrugged. That shrug was all you needed to confirm your suspicions- they were hooking up. You were unsure in what capacity, but you knew it was happening.
You ordered a drink and started to relax more as the alcohol compounded with the effects of the weed left in your system. The small talk went ‘round and ‘round as everyone enjoyed each other’s company and the food. You stole glances down the table at Josh, who was sticking to water and likely working to sober himself up. Every so often, he’d catch your gaze and give you a small smile, his pink sunburnt cheeks flush even in the dim restaurant lighting.
The food was good, as was the company, but you were ready to get back to the safety of your room. No complicated feelings, no noise, just the sterility and silence that was only reserved for hotels and hospitals. When you stood up from the table, you realized you had probably exceeded your limit and Ava was next to you instantly, taking your arm in hers and leading you out to one of the vans. She helped you crawl to the back and strap on your seatbelt as you waited for the rest of the group to join you.
“What is up with you?” Ava asked, her voice a whisper. “What’s up with you?” you echoed her question and she sighed. “Sam and I are hooking up, but that’s old news. Well, not old, but I think we are being more open about it. Your turn,” she said, giving you a nudge. You shrugged and she gave you a look that, even in the dark, told you she needed an answer.
You both turned to watch the rest of the group file out of the restaurant. She turned to face you. “I was honest with you, so you be honest with me,” she started, lowering her voice as Dean climbed into the driver’s seat. “Are you and Josh together?” she asked.
Suddenly you felt sick. “What do you mean?” you asked. Ava sighed and adjusted her seat before continuing. “I don’t know. I just feel like there’s something there,” she added. You shook your head “no, there can’t be.” She gave you a confused yet worried look, but dropped the conversation as the group started to climb into the van, Danny sliding into the seat in front of you and Ava.
Danny turned to face you and Ava, a smile on his face. “Are you guys excited for the beach tomorrow?” he asked, his excitement palpable. “Yes! We were just talking about how excited we are!” Ava said, giving you a nudge. You nodded in agreement.
Danny nodded and looked at you closely before pointing to your nose. “We are going to need to get a tent for you and Josh. I think you both got a little burned today,” Danny said, giving your shoulder a light squeeze before turning around and starting a conversation with the tech that had sat down beside him.
You ignored Ava’s stares and closed your eyes instead, the nausea increasing the second Josh climbed into the van. You were silent the entire drive back, your eyes closed tight to avoid dealing with reality.
Once the van came to a stop, you felt two pairs of hands helping slide you out of your seat. Your eyes flew open and you saw Danny helping Ava move you into the aisle. “I’m fine,” you snapped, pulling your arms out of Danny’s grasp. “Okay, okay,” he said, rocking back in the seats as he raised his hands. “We thought you were asleep and wanted to help get you upstairs,” Danny added, watching you closely. You crawled off the bus and headed towards the entrance of the hotel, Ava catching up to you and taking your arm. You turned back to see Danny talking to Josh, something that made your stomach flip.
“I’m not fucked up,” you whispered to Ava who shrugged. “Well, you were high before you had three drinks, so I don’t think you’re sober,” Ava added with a chuckle. “I just don’t want to feel for one single moment,” you said quietly once you were both settled on the elevator. She turned to look at you, her face showing clear concern. “You better tell me what’s up,” she said before reaching forward to hit the button for your floor, “or I will go ask Josh.” That sobered you up quickly. “No!” you exclaimed, grabbing onto her hands. She rolled her eyes, “so tell me what’s got you fucked up.”
You took a deep breath. “I kissed Josh. Like a long time ago, but I don’t think the feelings went away and I just can’t,” you said, the words running out of your mouth. “And I don’t think he feels the same but he also had all these drawings of me and my body and I don’t know what that means, but I do know that he’s my boss and I just-” you took a breath, “I don’t know.”
Ava’s eyes were wide as she nodded, leading you out of the elevator and to your room. She fished your key out of your purse and let you both into your room before sitting you down on your bed. “Listen to me very carefully,” she said, leaning forward to meet you on your level. “There’s something there. That’s very clear. And I think it would be a waste not to explore that. Screw the dynamics- I’m fucking Sam on the regular and have yet to hear anything about it. I mean, shit, Em walked in on us and just left and hasn’t said a thing sense.”
Ava shrugged before taking your head in her hands. “There’s something there. There is no way to deny that. Even I see it. So I think you need to stop being a wuss,” she said before dropping her hands to squeeze your shoulders. “And if not Josh, I know Danny is into you,” she added with a chuckle. “Oh god, don’t say that,” you groaned before flopping back onto the bed.
You covered your face with your hands before groaning again. “I need to tell you something else,” you said and Ava took a deep breath. “Sam kissed me,” you whispered and Ava snorted. “Oh, I know. He told me. And I don’t care,” she said with a chuckle. You removed your hands from your face and looked at her. Sure enough, her face was relaxed, her eyes clear as she watched you. “Now, you need to go to sleep and wake up, get on a sexy suit, and make your move tomorrow,” Ava said, leaning down to pat the top of your head. You groaned but agreed and Ava headed out the door.
You groaned once more before sitting up, nearly falling off the bed when you saw Josh standing in front of you, probably as wide-eyed as you were. “Shit,” you whispered as you reached out to get your bearings. “Sorry, Ava let me in,” he said quietly, his eyes watching you closely, scanning your face to gauge your reaction. “Can we talk?”
__________________________________________
You nodded and Josh walked further into your room, pacing slightly before leaning against the desk on the opposite side of your room. “Josh, what’s up?” you asked, faking nonchalance even though you felt like your heart was about to beat straight out of your chest. The alcohol still had you swimming in your head, and the nerves weren’t helping to sober you up. He looked at you, his eyes wide and clear, before he shook his head.
He was silent for a moment and you could see some sort of turmoil happening deep inside his beautiful head. “Josh,” you coaxed gently, unsure of what he would say next. He’s going to call me out for being inappropriate. Tell me I need to back off, be more professional. Tell me he doesn’t feel the same way I do. You watched him take a deep breath. Or tell me he’s firing me. This may not even have anything to do with the way I feel about him. Oh god, what if he actually doesn’t like my designs and they’re letting me go.
Josh caught your eye and you both held each other’s gaze for a moment. “You’re an over-thinker too, aren’t you?” he said with a knowing glance. “Where’d you go just now?” he asked quietly. “You first. You’re the one who came into my room to talk at-” you checked your phone “- nearly midnight. And you’re more sober. By a long shot.”
He ran a hand up and lightly through his curls, the motion loosening them slightly. “I guess I’ll just say it. I’m into you. Really, truly, into you,” he said, his voice pitching higher than usual. You sat for a second, just staring at him. He continued. “And I feel like there’s something here. Between us. And if there isn’t, I understand and I apologize for being unprofessional. And Emily will have a field day over this,” he added with a deep breath. He hadn’t looked back up to meet your eyes and he was clearly stressed as he picked at the beads he wore loosely around his neck.
You were sober enough to understand what was happening, but too drunk to stop yourself as you stood and crossed the room in record speed. Your hands kept you grounded as you planted them on his chest before leaning in to press your lips to his. The action must have surprised him because he remained tense for a moment, hands still dropped to his sides. A moment later though, he returned your enthusiasm, his hands trailing up from the outside of your upper thighs and coming to rest on your hips. He pulled you closer to him as the kiss deepened, the intensity ratcheting up to a new level.
Your hands found their way to his hair and you pulled the loose curls into your fingers. Josh moaned slightly as the feeling and dropped his hands down to cup your ass, pulling you closer to him. He pulled back after another minute, both of your sets of hands starting to wander around each other’s bodies as you yearned for more contact.
“You’re drunk,” Josh started before pausing to swallow the noticeable lump in his throat, “we should stop.” You groaned and pressed your face into his chest. He rested his head on yours and you listened to his heart beat steadily. “Why does this keep happening, I just want to have sex with you damn it,” you groaned and his chest shook as he chuckled. “At least we know where we stand. And I want you fully coherent when the time comes,” he replied quietly as he rubbed a hand up and down your back. The act was a sweet, caring gesture- a stark contrast to the way his tongue had moved in your mouth just moments before.
You pulled back to look at him. “Where do we stand then?” you asked, your words slightly slurred as the alcohol was joined by the absolute high that was kissing Josh Kiszka. “Well, hopefully together,” he replied with a chuckle. “Well, duh,” you added as you pulled him behind you as you climbed onto the bed. “I shouldn’t,” he said as he watched you move more onto the bed. “Just lay with me. I know we aren’t having sex, relax,” you said with a laugh as you flopped back into the pillows.
Josh complied and kicked his shoes off before sliding up next to you in the bed. You turned to face him and intertwined your legs with his as you both laid on your sides facing each other. “What are we though? Really?” you asked and Josh sighed. “I’ll be whatever you want me to be. A hookup, a friend,” he looked up to meet your eyes, “a boyfriend. A lover.” You grimaced at his last offer and he gave you a questioning glance. “A lover? That sounds so overly poetic, like something some middle-aged divorcees would say,” you said with a chuckle and Josh nodded in agreement.
You leaned forward to press your lips to his again, this kiss sweeter and more relaxed. Josh’s phone buzzed incessantly on the side table and he pulled away with a groan, rolling to reach for it.
“Yeah,” he answered, clearly irritated at being interrupted. He rolled back over to face you as he listened to whoever was on the other end of the line. “Yeah, I’ll be there in a moment,” he said quietly before hanging up. He sighed and rested his head back down on the pillow, his eyes searching yours. You raised an eyebrow in question and he rolled his eyes. “Jake wants me to come put icy hot on his shoulder. Having a twin is having a constant cock-block I swear,” Josh added with a chuckle as he leaned in to kiss you. You lifted your hand up to the side of his face and deepened the kiss. “You know,” you said between kisses, “I’m more sober now. You can tell Jake to put his own icy hot on.” Josh chuckled and shook his head before giving you one final kiss and rolling off the bed.
“You have no idea how hard it is to be saying no to you right now,” Josh said quietly as his eyes trailed over your body. “So don’t say no,” you shot back, narrowing your eyes slightly to challenge him. “Like I said,” he leaned forward and kissed your forehead, once again cooling the heat with a sweet gesture, “I promise I’ll make it up to you. When you’re sober and can feel every single thing I’m going to do to you.”
His words sent bursts of electricity up your spine and your mouth opened slightly as you watched him throw you a smirk. “Goodnight sweet girl,” he said before grabbing his phone off the bed and heading out into the hall.
You laid completely still for a few minutes after he had left. Everything had changed, yet it really hadn’t. All that had happened was a conversation- a big one, but there was no sex, no solidifying act of passion. You were completely and utterly dissatisfied, but in the same breath, you felt light and full. I’ll be whatever you want me to be.
It was 12:45 am and you knew Jen would be asleep, but you couldn’t help but shoot her a text.
You: So… I have a lot to catch you up on. Josh and I mayyyyy be a thing? Not sure. And remind me to stop drinking so this man will actually fuck me. Thanks, love youuuuu
And with that, you fell asleep, phone in hand and a smile on your face.
___________________________________________________________
Your phone jolted you awake, the buzzing next to your head putting you into a momentary panic. “Hello,” you answered, still half-asleep and feeling the effects of a hangover. “Hey, I’m at your door. Can I come in?” You groaned and huffed as you rolled out of bed and made your way over to the door to swing it open before making your way back to the bed.
“Well, good morning to you too,” Josh said. He handed you a to-go cup and sat on the edge of the bed, his eyes never leaving yours. You took a sip and moaned as the chai settled into your stomach. Josh watched you, eyebrows raised. “Do you remember last night?” he asked as he took a sip from his own cup, likely filled with the same thing.
“What about last night?” you asked, taking another sip and watching him over your cup. His face hardened and he did his anxious tell- he chewed ever so slightly on the middle portion of his lip. It was something you’d noticed he’d do right before he went on stage or before an important conversation. “What, like how you wouldn’t have sex with me? But you said you’d do anything I wanted?” you added, giving him a smirk.
Josh sighed and rolled his eyes, clearly glad you were sober enough to remember the key points of the evening. “I said I’d ‘be’ anything you wanted,” he said as he lightly kicked at your leg with his foot. “Ahhhh, I think you may be right,” you said with a chuckle, watching his brown eyes sparkle as he laughed along with you, the tension gone. “Well, I came to tell you to get a swimsuit on and pack a bag- we are headed to the beach,” Josh said with a smile and you nodded before getting up and setting your cup on the side table. You went over to your suitcase and rummaged through your stuff, looking for your suit.
Josh’s strong hands on your side made you jump slightly as he leaned in to press a kiss into your neck. “Wear something sexy,” he whispered and you chuckled. “We aren’t even dating and you’re telling me what to do,” you said with a laugh as you turned to put your arms over his shoulders. “Mmmmm, neither of us said anything for or against dating if I remember correctly,” he said before leaning in to kiss you.
You both stood there for a moment before you heard a knock on your door. You pulled back, your eyes wide and Josh chuckled. “It’s probably Jake. And he knows,” he said as he turned and walked to the door. You grabbed your bikini and a change of clothes and headed to the bathroom to quickly change.
Even from behind the closed bathroom door, you could hear the twins’ conversation. “Is she almost ready? Ava said she wants to head out in about 5 minutes to stop at Walmart for beach stuff, drinks and snacks,” Jake said, his voice mellow. “Yeah, we’ll be there in a second,” Josh said and you heard the door close.
There was a knock on the door and you opened it. Josh’s eyes widened as he took you in- you’d had enough time to change into your bikini but not much else. “So, five minutes?” you asked. Josh stood, completely zoned out for another few seconds before blinking twice and nodding. He walked past you and sat on the closed toilet and watched as you finished getting ready.
“You’re something else, you know that, right?” Josh said as he ran a hand through his curls, loosening them slightly. You chuckled as you brushed your teeth and turned to face him, leaning against the bathroom counter. “Says the man who goes out on stage half-naked,” you said, shooting him a glance. He raised an eyebrow suggestively and you giggled. The sexual tension between the two of you was palpable, but you knew you didn’t have enough time to act on it.
Another knock on your door interrupted your thoughts and Josh quickly stood before pulling you in for a kiss. His hands rubbed up and down your back, clearly indicating he wanted to do so much more than just kiss you. “Guys, come the fuck on,” you heard Jake say from outside the door and you broke the kiss to giggle. “If we don’t get out there they’re gonna think we were doing something dirty,” Josh said with a chuckle and you pushed his chest lightly before turning and following him out of the bathroom.
When Josh opened the door, you were met by the rest of the band, along with Ava and Olivia. They all stood there and watched as you both came out of your room and you turned to close the door. You and Josh both smiled as you were clearly inspected by the group. Jake gave Josh a smirk and nod before breaking the silence as he headed down the hall. “To the beach!” Jake exclaimed as he walked down the hall, holding a bottle of tequila above his head.
_________________________________________
It was a perfect day for the beach- slightly overcast, but warm with a slight breeze. The group set up camp with the cheap beach chairs and tent you’d gotten from Walmart. You and Josh were forbidden to leave the tent given your already sunburned status, and you were happy to comply as long as you got to be with Josh. He had tried to protest, saying he wanted to “ground himself in the sun,” but Emily had given him a look before plopping down nearby. “You will not be getting on that stage tomorrow any more red than you are today or it’ll be my neck,” she said before popping open the container of watermelon she’d purchased. She offered you a piece and you leaned forward to snag one before agreeing with her. “Your outfit is already red. Red with a slight tan looks good, but red with a sunburn is no good,” you added and Josh huffed before leaning back in his chair.
Jake handed Josh a beer before picking up a frisbee they’d found in the dollar section. “Daniel?” Jake asked as he held up the frisbee. Danny nodded before following Jake out into a clear section of the beach. You could tell Olivia wanted to join by the way she perked up, but she had just laid out on her blanket with enough tanning oil to cook a couple chickens, so she settled down to watch instead. You turned and gave Josh a glance, which he returned with a knowing chuckle. Ava and Sam had gone on a walk to look for shells and you watched as they disappeared down the beach.
It was a lovely afternoon of enjoying each other’s company and having some well-deserved time off to relax and recharge. You and Josh had sat together in comfortable silence, his hand reaching out and resting on top of yours occasionally when everyone was turned away and busy. You understood why he wanted to keep it quiet and knew it went without needing to be discussed.
Emily interrupted the silence intermittently with questions and ponderings, mostly about her own twins that she was growing. “What if they come out and hate one another?” she had said while rubbing a hand over her small bump. “I don’t think that’s possible,” Josh mused quietly, his head resting back on his chair as he closed his eyes. He raised his head and looked out to where Jake and Sam were kicking a soccer ball with Ava and one of the techs that had come along. “There’s something about being connected from conception that makes you in-tune with one another. Platonic soul-mates,” Josh mused, a smile spreading across his face.
Emily sighed and nodded before turning back to her phone. “What do you guys think of the name Ember?” she asked, you and Josh both groaning in response. Olivia turned to add her input. “I think it’s kinda cute,” she said, sitting up to reach for her water bottle. “Emily, Ember and-” Josh questioned and Emily scrunched her face as she thought. “Echo?” she asked and you and Josh grimaced, this time Olivia agreeing with you. “Sounds like something a Kardashian would use,” she said with a shake of her head. “Don’t you want to wait until you know what you’re having to decide on names?” Josh asked, taking another sip of the beer he’d been nursing for most of the afternoon. Emily made a face. “I guess you’re right,” she said with a sigh before setting her phone down on her lap.
You stood up and stretched before reaching out to Josh. The sun was starting to set and you knew that meant you’d be allowed out from under the tent. “Come on,” you encouraged and he nodded before taking your hand and allowing you to lead him out to an open spot on the sand. You let go of him and twirled before stopping to sway and laughing before reaching out to him. “Come dance with me,” you said and he chuckled before nodding and taking you up on your offer. He swung you around effortlessly, both of you laughing as you talked each other through a few different dances you both knew.
Josh pulled you close and wrapped his arms around your waist as the sun finally set, using the darkness to his advantage as pulled you in for a kiss. You swayed with him for a moment, enjoying the sounds of the ocean and the feeling of his heart beating against your chest.
“Hey, guys, time to go” you heard Sam call from the tent and you both separated. It was dark, so you were sure nobody could really make the two of you out as you walked towards the tent, Josh holding your hand slightly behind him as he walked in front of you. Emily turned towards you with a flashlight before motioning towards your stuff. “Let’s get a move on,” she said, her voice tense. “What, are you scared of the dark Em?” Sam said as he walked up behind her to take her chair from her. “No, I am just ready for dinner,” she sniffed and the group laughed.
Danny, Sam and Eddy, the tech, collapsed the tent under the watchful eye and direction of Emily. The walk back to the vans was quiet, everyone hungry and tired from the day on the water. Emily had made reservations for a local seafood restaurant and Sam was ecstatic. “Fresh seafood from the Atlantic? It can’t get better than that,” he enthused. “They better have chicken tenders because the thought of anything from the ocean,” Emily fake gagged and the van erupted in laughter. “You better sit far from me then Em, because I’m getting oysters,” Sam said, turning to give her a poke in the arm. You could barely make out her disgusted reaction in the streetlights, but it caused you to giggle again.
Sam stayed true to his word, and Emily took him up on the suggestion and sat at the other end of the table. You sat next to her, opting for fish tacos which you hoped were less offensive to her than the raw seafood being enjoyed at the other end of the table. “Nasty,” she said as she chewed on a fry and watched the others enjoy the various cold crustaceans. “Not going to disagree with you,” you said with a chuckle as you watched Josh turn to eat one of the oysters. You made a face before turning back to your own food.
“So,” Ava started from across from you. She pointed to you and Josh and you nodded in silent approval. Josh was busy arguing with Sam about something, so you gave her a big grin before putting a finger over your lips, signaling for her to keep it quiet. Emily missed the entire thing, finding her fries more interesting than you and Ava’s silent conversation. “Bathroom?” Ava asked and you nodded before getting up to follow her towards the back of the restaurant.
“So? Tell me everything!” Ava exclaimed the second you were out of earshot of the group. “Nothing much yet. We aren’t sure where we stand, but we are both really into each other. So, we will see,” you replied, your smile growing as you talked. “Thank god- I don’t know if I could’ve taken any more wistful glances Josh was throwing your way,” Ava said with a chuckle. “He was not,” you shot and she nodded. “Did you guys hook up yet?” Ava asked as you made your way into the bathroom. Ava waited for your answer as you checked your hair in the mirror. “Not yet. He didn’t want to because I wasn’t sober last night,” you whispered. Ava shot you a knowing glance. “Is that why you’re both more sober than the entire group?” she asked and you shrugged. She squealed in approval before pulling you back out into the restaurant.
The rest of dinner was relatively peaceful, everyone settling into their exhaustion. Josh’s hand had found it’s way to your thigh, gently rubbing up and down as he talked with the group. Every so often, it’d get higher and higher, his hand finally squeezing your upper inner thigh. “So, shall we get the bill?” Josh asked and Jake turned to look for your waiter.
Josh leaned over towards you, his curls tickling your ear. “Tonight?” he whispered before pulling back to look at you. You nodded and he moved his hand slightly higher on your thigh. “Perfect,” he replied quietly, the entire table somehow missing the electricity crackling between the two of you.

Hold Me Steady - Josh Kiszka x F!Reader
Tumblr media
Summary: Josh catches you having a nightmare and comforts you
Warnings: mentions and descriptions of abuse
Josh Kiszka knew a lot about you. No, that wasn’t even the right words to encompass it. He knew you. He was probably the only one that knew most of your deep, dark secrets. The insecurities, fears, hopes, dreams, all of it. He knew and he loved you regardless, and you loved him in return.
Despite that, there were details about your past that you hadn’t told him. Not fully. He knew about your ex boyfriend, Carson, the one you dated before him. He knew that the break up was messy and difficult. You just couldn’t muster up the nerve to tell Josh about the abuse. The way Carson would verbally manipulate you and put you down almost daily, the way he would hit you if he didn’t like the way you spoke to him or behaved around his friends or family.
As much as you hated to admit it, you were too ashamed to confess it all. You had been with Josh for a year or so, and you trusted him with all your heart, but you couldn’t say it. Even with the chapter of your life permanently in the past, it still held some power over you, and you absolutely despised that.
It was then, about a year into your relationship with Josh, that he found out about it all.
One night, you had went out with Josh and you saw a man that looked so similar to Carson. You thought it was him. Even though you had moved from Atlanta to Nashville after the break up to ensure he’d never find you again, the man looked similar enough that that fact slipped from your head. It didn’t matter that it didn’t make sense for him to be there, you were just planning how you and Josh could slip out of that bar as quickly as possible.
“Baby, what’s wrong?” Josh furrowed his brow in concern as he eyed you.
You had gone stiff ever since the man entered the bar, but once he got closer you realized it wasn’t Carson after all. Still, you were visibly afraid. “I’m okay, Josh. Thought I saw someone I knew, but it wasn’t.”
His gaze told you he wasn’t sure he believed your brush off, but you loosened up and gave him a smile. You didn’t want this to ruin your night.
“You sure you’re fine? We can leave right now if you want to.” Josh assured you, expression turning serious in an instant.
You shook your head. “No, let’s stay. We haven’t been out in a while. I’m good, I promise.”
Josh nodded and you both finished your drinks before heading to the dance floor. His brothers eventually showed up with their girlfriends and you all ended up having a great night. Everything was fine.
Then, like it tended to do, your past snuck up on you. As soon as your eyes closed in bed that night, you drifted off into the worst nightmare you’d had in months.
You were back in your Atlanta apartment. As you slipped off your heels, you sighed and hung up your coat on the rack. Carson followed silently behind you as you plopped down on your shared bed. You had been out clubbing all night and you were thoroughly exhausted.
“What the fuck was that?” Carson growled from the bedroom doorway.
You propped yourself up on your elbows. “What was what?”
“All that flirting with the goddamn bartender, you whore.”
You groaned. “Carson, not this again. You know it wasn’t like that at all.”
He took a step toward you, rage radiating off him. You scrambled back until you hit the head board. The smallest thing would set him off and as soon as he started acting this way you knew what was coming.
“Who the fuck are you to tell me what I saw. Because you know what I saw, Sweetie? I saw a shameless little slut trying to fuck a stranger right in front of her own damn boyfriend.” Carson stalked right up to you and grabbed your chin in his hands, holding tight to the point where it hurt.
You shook your head as much as you could with his grip on you. “Please, I swear I would never do that. I love you, I promise, I love you.”
Your pleads were interrupted as he slapped you across the face. “Don’t fucking lie to me! I don’t want your bullshit, Y/N. You get what all lying whores deserve.” He spat the words in your face and moved his free hand to your neck.
Just before his fingers closed around your throat, you were pulled from the dream.
You bolted upright in bed, panting and frantic. You looked around the room wildly.
“Where is he? Where is he?” You muttered repeatedly.
“Where is who? Baby, what’s going on? Are you alright? You were screaming.” Josh lightly placed a hand on your arm as he looked at you with pleading eyes. Scared eyes.
You jumped back from his touch and instantly hated yourself for the way he winced out of guilt. You surveyed the room until you were once again sure this was your bedroom in Nashville that you shared with Josh. Carson wasn’t here. He never had been. It was just a stupid, awful nightmare.
“Y/N, please talk to me. I just want to know that you’re okay.” Josh’s broken whisper broke your trance.
You looked over at him and fresh tears fell on your already soaked cheeks. You crawled over to him and flung your arms around him.
“It was just a dream.” You mumbled into his chest as you clung on for dear life. “All a dream.”
He brought his arms around you in return, holding you loosely enough to not feel trapped, but closely enough to be comforting. He didn’t bombard you with an interrogation or demand answers immediately. Josh simply sat and held you. Again, he knew you and he could always sense what you seemed to need in a given moment.
After what felt like a small eternity, you felt calm enough to pull away from him and wipe away the old tears staining your face.
You took a long, shaky breath before you spoke again. “I’m sorry I scared you.”
Josh’s terrified eyes instantly turned sad as he shook his head. “No, never apologize for that. You don’t need to apologize for something you’re feeling, especially something you can’t control. I just hate that you had to feel that at all.”
That in itself almost brought about a fresh wave of tears. He was too good to you. Well, that’s what it felt like sometimes anyway.
“I just…it had been so long…I thought maybe they finally stopped.” You whispered.
Josh was silent for a beat. “Do you want to talk about it.”
You thought for a moment. Of course you didn’t necessarily want to talk about it, but you did want to tell him. You were tired of feeling like you were hiding something from him.
“That guy at the bar earlier. He looked like Carson. I guess it just brought up some bad memories. I used to get these nightmares after we broke up, but they had pretty much stopped by the time I met you. Seeing that guy tonight must’ve made them resurface. Carson…he was abusive. I didn’t move to Nashville for work, I was running from him after I left him.” You admitted.
Josh sat in patient silence as he let you spill all the gory details of your previous relationship. By the time you finished, you ended up back in his lap, folded in an embrace.
“Thank you for trusting me enough to tell me, Y/N. I’m so sorry. I wish I could take it all away. I wish I could undo it for you.” His voice broke and you noticed how glassy his eyes had grown. “I promise, as long as I live, no one will ever lay a hand on you like that ever again.”
You gave him a sad smile and pulled him into a kiss. It did feel better to tell him. You felt just the smallest bit lighter.
As the two of you finally started to fall back asleep, still entwined, you had a thought. Maybe it wasn’t a coincidence that the nightmares stopped as Josh entered your life. He helped you realize that you finally felt safe.

Chapter 2- Ready for the Garden
Tumblr media
Pairings: Jake Kiszka x Reader
Genre: angst
Word Count: little over 1.7 k
Warnings: being held at sword point, Sam’s a little crazy and Josh has trust issues, talking about killing someone but just as a pirate tale, brief mention of prostitution
--------------------------------------------------------
Your hands fly up in surrender as you hold your breath, afraid that even the smallest sound would earn you a meeting with The Master.
A taller man who also bears a striking resemblance to Jacob comes into view; his long brown hair pulled back with a small scrap of purple fabric as he grins at you maniacally, his eyes alight with an intense hunger.
“What do we have here, Jacob? A hostage? Please tell me it’s Helena’s right-hand man.”
Jacob reaches for the sword at your throat, pushing it away from you and allowing you to take a much-needed breath now that the threat of the blade is gone.
“They’re not, Samuel. This is Polaris, and no harm will come to them on this ship.”
“So we’re collecting pets now, Jacob? What the fuck were you thinking, bringing them back to the ship with you?”
He takes a step towards the other man, using the inch of height he had on him to his advantage.
“My judgement will not be questioned, Joshua. This is my ship, may I remind you. My question is, what are you doing off The God Song?”
Joshua sheaths his sword, glaring at his brother as he responds shortly, “Daniel and I came over to find you as soon as we heard the first cannon fire. We need to leave, now. How many times have I told you not to venture into town alone when we make port?”
“You are not my master. As I said, this is my ship, and I will do what I please.”
Joshua squares him up for a few moments, clenching his jaw before turning his attention back to you.
“You will stay out of the way. Our downfall will not be because of some street rat my brother found in an alley.”
He turns his attention to another man, standing on the other side of Samuel quietly. “Daniel, you stay here and keep them out of the way. Samuel, you’re coming back to The God Song with me.” Is all he says before turning to walk across the deck towards a large plank of wood connecting the two ships.
“What? Why can’t I stay here with them?” Samuel turns towards you with a glint in his eye. “I bet I could have some real fun with Jacobs new pet.”
“And that is exactly why you are coming with me. As much as I disagree with Jacob’s choices, this is his ship. I have no jurisdiction over what becomes of them here.”
Samuel bares his teeth before turning to follow his brother onto The God Song.
“Alright, lads! Get a fucking move on, there’s no time to waste!” Jacob shouts at his crew as they quickly scramble to ready the ship to set sail.
“Take them to my quarters, keep them safe and out of the way.” Is all he says to Daniel before he too springs into motion to ready the ship for sailing.
You feel a warm hand take ahold of your bicep as Daniel begins steering you towards the captains’ quarters. “C’mon.”
Just as Jacob had directed, you say nothing, allowing him to lead you down corridors as men scurry past you. You come to a stop at a large room, taking a seat by a table covered in various hand drawn maps as Daniel closes the door behind you.
“So, Polaris, right? You must be something special for the captain to take such a quick liking to you.”
“You’re The Archer.”
Daniel laughs at this as he takes a seat across from you. “Yes, I am. But you can call me Danny.”
You say nothing as you eye the man, not sure whether to trust him or not.
He waits for you to say something and when you don’t, offers a small sincere smile. “You hungry?”
At the mention of food, your stomach answers the question for you, having not eaten since that morning before you had gone down to The Black Smoke.
“I’ll take that as a yes, then.” He stands, making his way towards the door before turning back to you. “Don’t leave this room, or it’ll be both our heads.”
With that he disappears, leaving you alone to take in your surroundings. Much like the table before you, the walls were covered in hand drawn maps and battle plans, the planks of the walls hidden by hundreds of pieces of parchment. Various daggers, swords, and pistols lay scattered across multiple tables around the room, and you make a mental note of each one as a backup plan. Set into the wall across from the door sits a large bed, covered with expensive-looking sheets and fabrics mainly dyed blood red and black.
Daniel returns moments later as he enters the room and securely closes the door behind him. He tosses you a ripe apple, bright red with streaks of yellow.
“We were planning on restocking our food supply in town but, that didn’t happen for obvious reasons. It’s not much but, it’s something.”
You eye the apple in your hand, still unsure whether to trust The Archer, Danny, or not. Your stomach protests as you set it on the table, turning your attention once more to Danny as he takes the seat across from you.
“You can eat it, I swear it’s not poisoned or rotten or anything like that.”
You say nothing, keeping your eyes fixed on him and your features blank.
He sighs, shaking his head with a small smile. “You don’t have to trust me, but it’ll make your life a hell of a lot easier if you do. I trusted you not to make a run for it or try and kill me with one of the many weapons we both know are in this room. Now you must choose if you want to trust me. If I wanted to kill you, I would have done so already.”
You consider this for a moment, deciding you would find out if he was telling the truth sooner or later.
They’re probably going to kill me eventually anyways.
Bringing the apple to your lips, you take in its intoxicatingly sweet aroma before finally taking the first bite. You groan at the taste, quickly taking another bite as its flavor melts on your tongue.
Danny cocks an amused eyebrow at you, smiling as he observes. “It’s good right? We got those from Giapan. I swear, all other apples are ruined for me now.”
You say nothing, your mouth full as you quickly devour the apple until it is reduced to nothing but its core. You set it back on the table, moving a few maps so that its juice wouldn’t tarnish the parchment.
“Thank you.”
“Of course. So, Polaris, tell me about yourself. How did you meet the captain? He was only gone for a few hours before the attack started, your brief interaction must have been something special.”
The look on his face instantly tells you how he thinks you met Jacob.
“I’m not a street whore.”
“Didn’t say you were. There’d be nothing wrong with it if you were.”
“You were thinking it, weren’t you?”
“Maybe. Jacob doesn’t get attached to strangers easily, especially enough so to save them from Lady Helena’s blade.”
“I served in a pub, The Black Smoke. I happened to be next to him when the attack started, I don’t know why he saved me.”
“Huh, you and me both.” He pauses for a moment. “Again, Polaris. Your parents were sailors then?”
“Yes. Well, my dad was. He took… morally questionable jobs.”
Danny grins, “Ah, so he was a pirate?”
“You could say that. Although, Polaris isn’t actually my name, Jacob gave me that.”
“So then, what is your name?”
You pause before responding, the memory raging through your head of your town set alight. “Doesn’t matter anymore. Whoever I was before now died along with my home.”
“That’s fair. Do you know what it means? Polaris?”
You only shake your head as your hand comes up to toy with your star pendant, a nervous habit you’d had for years.
Dannys eyes shoot down as the light catches across the worn metal, a smile on his face as he puts two and two together.
“It’s the North Star; our most reliable way of navigating the seas. Looks like you’re Jacobs North Star.”
Your hand stops as you look at Danny quizzically. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
He shrugs, still smiling at you from across the table. “Ask him.”
You say nothing for a few moments until your curiosity gets the best of you.
“How did you get your name, “The Archer”?”
“Have you not heard the stories? Working in a pub by the docks, I would have thought so, with all the sailors that must come through your doors.”
“I’ve heard you shot a British Admiral in the eye straight through his telescope from a mile away, dangling only by a single rope from the Figurehead of The Ether.”
Danny laughs loud and bright at this. “Through his telescope? From a mile away and dangling from a rope? These tales really do get tall. Well, I hate to ruin the story for you but, it was only 500 feet. And while I did shoot him in the eye while I was perched on the figurehead, it was not through his telescope nor while I was dangling from it.”
“500 feet. Still impressive.”
You fail to contain a large yawn, your mind and body exhausted from the day you had had.
Danny motions towards the bed with his chin. “You can sleep if you need, we still have a few hours before we make dock next.”
Sensing your hesitation, he continues. “I promise I won’t kill you in your sleep. Trust, remember? Plus, Jacob told me to keep you safe.”
“Alright…” you stay as you stand. You awkwardly climb into the bed, not knowing how Jacob would feel about you sleeping in his bed, but your body instantly relaxes into the soft silks of the sheets despite the thought. Before you know it, you’re falling fast into a deep, dream-filled sleep.
--------------------------------------------------------
Suddenly, the sound of water drumming violently against the planks above rips you from sleep, your eyes going wide with fear.
“What is that?”
Once again, Danny flashes you a toothy smile. “The waterfall. We’re here.” He says as he stands, making his way towards the door and waiting for you to follow.
“Where is here?”
“The Garden.”

Without further ado, here we go. Each song has a particular meaning in Elias' life. I'll break down each one as best as I can and perhaps provide some bonus tracks.
1. "Happy & Sad" by Kacey Musgraves
Kacey Musgraves explained that "Sometimes I find myself not being able to enjoy the height of a good moment because I start thinking about the fact that it’s about to be over." Since the trauma of the Philippine revolution affected him so deeply to the point that he lost so many people he cared about, Elias became a very cautious person, feeling like the highs he feels now will become lows very soon.
2. "Eyes Shut" by Years & Years
Y&Y frontman and songwriter Olly Alexander said, "The song is about self preservation and wanting to hide from disaster." This song is like a sort of follow-up to "Happy & Sad" for Elias, wherein he convinces himself that by detaching himself, he won't feel any hurt or loss. He feels the need to be stronger for his mom and himself. This is essentially the reason why he genuinely cannot bring himself indulge in the idea that he could be happy.
3. "Screaming" by CHVRCHES
The past five years Elias experienced since the attack on his home village has swept Elias into a tornado of unpredictable events. It feels as if misfortune has control of his life. He is both victim and witness to all that unfolds in his life and is forced to go with the flow of it all. He is frustrated over the trauma that holds his life. But towards the end of the song, Elias decides he cannot give up and keeps fighting for a better future.
4. "A Song to Come Home To" by Jinkx Monsoon
The song is a dedication to Elias' mother and his chosen family (his dear friends at Hogwarts). It's clear and simple a message: he will love them all no matter what. They never left him when the going got rough for Elias in so many ways, and he will reciprocate that for them as well because of the love that connects them all.
5. "panorama" by Hayley Kiyoko
"Wait, have you seen the view?"
This is Elias finally becoming in touch with himself and the world around him, finally being able to process all that has happened to him, l making peace with it all, and moving forward and accepting wholeheartedly the love and happiness he deserves. He can finally stop and look at all the good that has happened to him and enjoy it all. Sure, the feeling of the storm coming after the sunshine is still there, but learns to manage that feeling as well.
Author's note: If you all want a full Spotify playlist for Elias (and Sebastian as a couple), please do let me know. I'm willing to share it hehehe.
Bonus tracks under the cut!
6. Three Versions of Ave Maria
Okay, now hear me out before you think this is a weird thing to add to a playlist. Remember Elias was born during the Spanish colonization of the Philippines, which means Catholicism was rampant then. As a magical practitioner, Elias never felt a real connection with the religion but for some reason felt one with the Virgin Mary. Maybe it was that she reminded him of his mother, Ma. Aurora: kind, caring, and loving.
Now, why do I have three versions of Ave Maria listed? Let's explore them!
A. Franz Schubert/Josh Groban
Josh Groban, who is my voiceclaim for Elias, sings this version passionately as if he's pleading for help. In a way, it harkens to "Ellens Gesang III", a derivation of Sir Walter Scott's poem, "The Lady of the Lake". In the poem, the heroine, Ellen Douglas, is praying to the Virgin Mary for help, anxious over the fate of her father on the eve of an important battle. The same way, Elias secretly "prays" for safety as he and his mother leave the Philippines and will lead new lives in a foreign country.
B. Charles Gonoud & Johann Sebastian Bach/Amira Willighagen
This version by Bach and Gonoud and performed by Willighagen has a more angelic and heavenly approach to it. I used this iteration to represent Elias at his calmest and happiest. It is in this moment that he finds something good in his situation like a strongly-lit lighthouse in a stormy midnight. In a way, he begins to find this light when he learns to let his own guard down and open his heart, starting with Sebastian (to Anne's delight, that little schemer). This is Elias "praying" that this joy will last forever.
C. Franz Schubert/Beyoncé
The conclusion to Elias' Ave Maria trilogy is a wedding song by Beyoncé. This is that point in Elias' life where there is calm, joy, and the sense of stability that he's longed for since he and his mother were displaced. Elias is finally happy with his life. He has everything a boy like him could need: his mother, his best friends, and a loving husband. (Yes, Elias and Seb get married who wants to attend the wedding yaaaas)
It also makes sense to have this as the end to the trilogy as it is a rewrite of Franz Schubert's original Ave Maria, as performed earlier by Josh Groban.

More songs will be added at some point so stay tuned, I guess?
