Some people already saw this, but I wanted to spread this little hc around. So, here's my take on the Burromuetro sibling dynamic (specifically Ale and Jose):

Alejandro and Jose were close as children. I just find the idea of Alejandro watching the closest person he has slowly become a terrible person interesting. Like imagine the one person you feel comfortable to confide in suddenly change once your oldest brother stops being favored as he drifts off. That's why Jose knows what buttons to push when it comes to Alejandro. Not just because he can read people, but because he knows how Alejandro's mind works. It's also why Alejandro especially dislikes Jose, because he doesn't understand why his older brother changed. Why Jose saw him differently. It's misguided anger that flourished as Jose (and their relationship) began to worsen.

I'd like to imagine that Carlos was the one their parents paid more attention to, and that's why Jose and Alejandro stuck together. And when their older brother left, Jose was forced into the role of being better. He had to be better to make up what Carlos left behind (you could add that he was mean to Alejandro because Jose didn't want history to repeat. Or because he wants to protect Alejandro from being the "favored brother". If you want to go through the sympathetic route.)

None of this is meant to diminish the actions of Jose. I just wanted to explore why their relationship became the way it is.

These siblings are so tragic, and there's so many ways you can imagine their dynamics. One thing everyone can agree is the fact they all need therapy and that their parents are the worst :DD
