#jordan has.... a very interesting fanbase
Note
can you believe it, a big larrie post an anon called louis "If you believe all that Louis does and says is really Louis - then you'd despise him too. The fragile masculinity, the racism, the macho man, mansplaining, open homophobia and misogyny, chain-smoking, weed-smoking, excess alcohol, a deadbeat dad with a kid with a white racist like Briana and her despicable family, tory racist girlfriends like Eleanor, systematic bully of lgbtq, BFF with people like Nizam and Jordan." i mean, you are not gonna at least pretend to be a fan of louis?
Larriespeak vs. reality:
• Fragile masculinity = Larrie fantasy: Louis doesn’t wear women’s wear but prefers sportswear => reality: Louis has worn clothes specifically designed for women, specifically designs a unisex line of clothing, has described himself as flamboyant and camp.
• Racism = fantasy: Louis doesn’t work with POC artists => reality: he’s worked with POC songwriters, producers, opening acts. He has POC close friends who are childhood friends, who grew up with him.
• Open homophobia = fantasy: Louis denies Larry and doesn’t wave a pride flag on stage => reality: Louis was the first member of One Direction to defend their LGBT audience, has written clearly LGBT inclusive songs, has worked with queer, nonbinary, transgender musicians, makes his fanbase feel safe and loved no matter who they are
• Weed smoking = fantasy: Louis is a drug addict and Harry is pure => reality: is Harry really pure, when he writes openly about using cocaine and has harmed himself while high on psilocybins?
• Mansplaining = fantasy: Louis talks about his life and art articulately, with complexity, with consistency => reality: Louis talks about his life and art articulately, with complexity, with consistency
• Misogyny = fantasy: Louis had the same girlfriend for eleven years and he doesn’t have any women in his band => reality: Louis has worked with women in songwriting, song collaboration, management (Jesse), make up, styling. He has had multiple female acts open for him. He is interested in nurturing and fostering independent women musicians. His songs show an equal partnership with respect for them as human beings. He has always talked about his partners with respect, and he will defend them publicly.
• Louis smokes and drinks = fantasy: Niall and Liam’s caricature of Louis lying around during the pandemic, wasted => reality: I did not know that smoking and drinking were criminal activities? Louis has incredible work ethic and has arguably been multiple times more productive than any of the 1D men for the past couple of years.
• Louis is a deadbeat dad = fantasy: Louis is not a dad => reality: Louis is a dad. No one comes to dissect Larries’ families under a microscope, and I suspect few of us could withstand a hostile interrogation.
• Louis’ friends = fantasy: Louis shares all the views and actions of his despicable friends, and all the unsubstantiated rumors are true => reality: boy do I have some Harry news for you 😂. Larries invoke Jordan Green, but he was gone from Louis’ employment as soon as the SA allegations arose. Harry, on the other hand, chose to keep a friend who sent a dick pic to a fan, chose to go into business with him.
This is very abbreviated, but the Larrie caricature of Louis is designed to distract from their agenda of continuing a mlm group fantasy and promoting Harry. Their whining is embarrassing and childish. They aren’t fans of actual human beings. Louis isn’t perfect by far, but he’s not the cartoon character they make him out to be, and neither is Harry.

Pride Month Ship 2: Batlantern
BatLantern
Fandom: DC Comics/DC Animated Movie Verse
Bat= Batman (Bruce Wayne)
Lantern= Green Lantern (Hal Jordan)
Two founding members of The Justice League, one of the best-known superhero teams in modern pop culture, Hal Jordan and Bruce Wayne have a long history together starting all the way back in the silver age of comics. First and foremost, let’s get into the individual heroes’ histories.
Batman was created in 1939 for Detective comics #27. One of, if not the, most popular DC characters ever created, he is a founding member of the Justice League and part of the main trinity consisting of him, Superman, and Wonder Woman. Bat may have been created at a time of strict censorship, but he was specifically created to be a darker vigilante alternative to Superman.  A very brutal character who would quickly develop a strict moral code that has stuck to his characterization to this day (ignoring Affleck’s B-Man). It’s really hard to talk about Batman just because he does vary dramatically not just between series, but between authors, but here are the basics. Batman even with his moral code is perceived as a darker character from his aesthetic to his personality. He’s known as a brooder who claims he “works alone” even though he collects orphans like there soda caps and has a butler who often acts as his headquarters watcher. He’s a darkly dramatic character and has his snarky sarcastic moments. Though he has another persona as playboy “Bruce Wayne”, a flamboyant rich ladies’ man who likes to flounder his family fortune and delight in the finer things in life. Though this public persona is even more false than his Batman one. In “real life” he’s a father of many, son of Alfred, damaged child, and obsessive individual whose been irrevocably changed and defined by the horrors in his life. Which makes him one of the saddest, but also most interesting characters in the DC canon. Making him one we love to root for.
Hal Jordan first came about in 1959’s Showcase #52, replacing the first Green Lantern Alan Scott, who more or less over time has been forgotten except for avid DC fans who know the history, or general Lantern fans as the Lantern Core exists as its own mini fandom within the DC comics canon. Unlike some other members of the Justice League, Hal has had a wavering fanbase. Specifically, during his time as Parallax in the series “Emerald Twilight” where he threatened the world after Coast City was destroyed, and we were introduced to other GL’s like Guy Gardner, Kyle Rayner, and John Stewart. There were many DC fans during this era who didn’t even really know the character of Hal Jordan outside of witty comebacks and the green suit, instead reveling in the stories of the modern GL’s. It was with Green Lantern Rebirth, which was a controversial series though it has become more accepted over time, that Hal Jordan was welcomed back into the mainstream DC verse after being resurrected and helping defeat Parallax. Hal had to go through a long process of redemption after being possessed by Parallax, regaining the trust of heroes and lanterns, as well as regaining the favor of DC readers. There are some mixed feelings about the Parallax/Hal storyline, but no DC or Hal Jordan fan can deny that it is an integral part of not only who the character is now, but what the Green Lantern core has become.
It was with the New 52 that really brought about the Batlantern ship. Gone was the age where all the superheroes had to be all censored and friendly, now we could get angst and complicated relationships. And though the New 52 is a very controversial reboot and was ultimately erased, one of the best things that came out of the series was probably the Batlantern ship. We got an excellent to-and-fro between Bats and GL, lots of teasing and arguments we wouldn’t have gotten between the heroes in the silver age. And even though we all love relationships with angst, and Batlantern is definitely one of those, they also have their sweet moments. For instance, Hal is the first one of the League that Bat shows his identity to. He’s also the one Bat implored to lead the Justice League in the fight against Darkseid. Hal is a hero that refuses to take Bruce’s bullshit, which is what Bruce really needs. He gives as good as he gets, and won’t let Bruce get away with anything he shouldn’t.
They no doubt have one of the more tumultuous relationships within the Justice League, but that doesn’t mean that it’s a relationship without respect or care. Hal and Bruce have a very interesting mix of similarities and differences. Hal’s flyboy manner and more impulsive side is directly averse to Bruce’s strict and demanding personality, and depending on how much the author likes either character this can make these differences good or bad. In similarities we have the main trauma that set the two off on the path of superhero-dom. Bruce and Hal have both watched as parent(s) died in front of them, which can be a real bonding moment. They also have a more sarcastic manner, though Hal’s is admittedly more exaggerated while Bruce’s tends to be more detached. Or at least appears to be.
So why don’t people ship Batlantern? For one, most people are just not aware of the ship. DC has such a vast array of characters, there are too many ships to become familiar with all of them. Plus, Hal has a on again off again canon relationship with Carol Ferris, who is his Lois Lane and thus is his perceived “endgame”. Batman also has more famous pairings with characters such as Catwoman and even Superman (the latter non canonically). There are some more real issues with the ship though. For instance, the fighting. Sometimes it gets hard to tell if the two even like each other if not confirmed in a given series. There’s a lot of canon to traverse with the multiverse and such which makes it difficult to judge if the pair would be good for each other. But one must pose the question, what Batman ship doesn’t have fighting? Bruce is a combative character, even against those he loves so it really doesn’t matter who he is with, there will be plenty of fighting. To make it a healthy relationship, Bruce would need to be with someone who could take the hit, bounce back, and hit him in turn, metaphorically speaking of course. There’d have to be a balance of temper and action. And Hal certainly has the possibility for that, being impulsive and temperamental in his own right.
With Batlantern we get to examine a really interesting dynamic between a brooding darker individual who hides his lighter side, and a charismatic lively flyboy who hides his darker side. There’s a possibility for unprecedented openness for both characters, opening and sharing the hidden parts of them that connects more with the outwardly shown aspects of their partners personality. Because as people who really study these characters know, with his family and past, Bruce has a very kind and supportive side of himself he pushes back in name of his Batman persona. And Hal has a long history of pain and suffering he’s pushed back in order to put on this mask of cheerful indifference. There also exists the possibility for a four-sided relationship just between these two characters. Because on one side we have Bruce and Hal, and on the other side we have Batman and Green Lantern. Just because the men’s relationship would have to change to have a romantic affiliation doesn’t mean that the superheroes relationship would have to change. In fact, the much more realistic option would be Bats and GL fighting just as much as usual, but then just chilling in Wayne Manor with Titus and Damian off to the side.
Speaking of, another interesting aspect of this relationship is the many platonic and familial relationships that would spawn off of it. Be it the relationship between Bruce and Hal’s friends (Carol and Tom), Hal and Alfred’s possible father son dynamic, or most often explored, the relationship between Hal and the Batchildren. Most fanfics you will find do have one or more Batchildren in it, and each takes a very unique perspective of the given Bat-lings relationship with Hal.
Batlantern is a fun pair to ship. There’s the potential for angst and darker areas, but mostly it’s just funny comebacks, smirks, eyerolls, and Hal endlessly torturing Bruce with the help of his children. The work out there is really amazing, and the fandom has a very loyal shipping base, without a lot of the drama involved in the more popular ships. If you are a part of the DC fandom, I really do suggest giving it a look. I was already a Batman and Batfam fan, but the ship led me into a deeper understanding and fondness for Hal Jordan.

Gameday at the Movies
I once met someone who had no interest in sports at all, and yet one of his favourite movies was Chak De India. It took me years to really wrap my head around it. How can you love a sports movie that much, but have no interest in the real life equivalent? To me, sports fandom is so intrinsic to loving sports movies that I had a tough time separating the two. And, to be honest, being a sports fan, if you look past the numbers and win/loss column, is all about the story and the drama: friendships, rivalries, heroics, tragedies, legacies, all of it. What you get in a movie, you get in real life sports, but messier.
And athletics is one of the few parts of our culture that is still holding on to some of its magic. Every time Dame Lillard throws up a gamewinner from the logo, an arena goes quiet, coiled to explode. When Andy Murray went on his miracle run at the 2023 Australian Open, everyone and their mothers had their fingers crossed, hoping against hope. When Argentina won the World Cup, I watched my relatives (who are, to be clear, not Argentinian) weep with joy.
Tumblr media
But getting into sports, getting so emotionally connected to a game in the first place, that’s tough, especially if you didn’t grow up watching it on TV or playing. There are a million rules for you to learn, while fans and analysts alike are constantly volleying stats at you like they’re decrees from god: usage rates, efficiency, value over replacement and every other forced metric is seemingly unimpeachable. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good stat, but for me as a fan, stats do not give or take away meaning or value from performances or narratives. Is Diana Taurasi the most efficient player in the WNBA? No, but that doesn’t matter to me because she represents something more intangible and everlasting: greatness.
Hell, even the basic starting point of picking a team or player to support is tough if you don’t have a home town team or athlete to turn to. You have to be careful – you might, for example, end up on the Mayweather bandwagon for a couple years before you realize that Pretty Boy Floyd might be the most successful poseur in the history of boxing. And once you do end up on a side, you might discover that the fanbase of which you’re now a part has a belligerent online faction that irritates you at every turn (a very merry fuck you to all Laker fan forums).
Tumblr media
There is that great Nora Ephron line, “You don’t want to be in love. You want to be in love in a movie.” And to some extent, if you play or love sports growing up, you don’t just want to be a pro athlete. You want to be in the movie. I never thought I could be Michael Jordan, but I definitely wished I could be Calvin in Like Mike, with the miracle shoes from the basketball gods. Movies take the everyday magic of sports and package it into 2 easily digestible hours, so how can you not love it?
Plenty of ways, it turns out. You’ll see plenty of jock writers lament the death of their precious genre and that, I think, is just panic. The sports documentary has had a major resurgence in recent years, sparked, no doubt, by the popularity of ESPN’s 30 for 30 series (Winning Time: Reggie Miller vs. the Knicks is among my favourite films all time) and The Last Dance. But when it comes to dramatized features, in the last 20 years, there have been maybe five great sports films (we’ll get to that in a minute) and a diminishing number of attempts (with one subgenre being the exception – we’ll get to that too).
But I think there are a couple obvious reasons for that. First and foremost, they cost a little too much, and it’s not like people are rushing to theatres to watch a movie about tennis or football or the other football. Plus, like with most genres that are so laden with stereotypes and set narrative beats, audiences tend to have a “seen one, seen them all” mentality towards sports flicks.
Tumblr media
And then there is the sense that everything has been gamified, from movies to governance to your daily news of choice. Politics seems to be more "my team, your team” than ever before, and reporting on TV has devolved mostly to talking heads with the loosest grasp on the facts giving hot takes – which is entertaining and only mildly annoying when Stephen A. Smith does it about the NBA, and horrifyingly glib when NDTV does it about life/death situations.
But one of the more insidious ways that sports has permeated a non-sports part of my life is at work. I feel like, for our parents’ generation, the pitch was “your office is like a family”. You watch movies and TV from the mid-to-late 90s when they were entering the workforce, and they’re constantly pitching you this idea that work is a family, one for all and all for one. It’s gross and saccharine, and although it’s blatantly dishonest, the evolution since then has not been much better.
The workplace now is nominally modeled after sports. I think it comes from the transposability of sports-related wisdom to any sort of group effort. “Take one for the team” or “don’t drop the ball” or “that’s a slam dunk” (which, don’t believe the hype, very hard to do) are all things I hear regularly. To be microscopically one-to-one about it, there is the idea that you all come together to work and execute a plan as a fully enmeshed unit that will beat all the other teams competing against you to reach the same goal. At a glance, it might track, but if you have any experience being on a sports team or even spend an extra second thinking about the implications, it’s absolute horseshit.
Tumblr media
Within a team, there isn’t a strict sense of hierarchy and the style of play is crafted around the strengths of the players. That’s not translated into work culture at all, especially within corporations. A worker, regardless of their skills and/or talent, is slotted into place depending on what the company needs. In all honesty, my workplace, like most corporate workplaces that I’m familiar with, is modelled after a factory line. You get your corner of the product to work on, do your job, pass it on to the next person in the line. And if someone fucks up in that line, the shit always flows down the hierarchy. If you don’t do your work or don’t do it on time, that’s a loss. But, especially on the middle and lower rungs of a corporation, there is no work equivalent to winning. You just do what is required of you and maintain the status quo. And that idea of beating the competition in the marketplace at all costs? Studies in the field have posited that maybe, just maybe, it’s not a sustainable model for businesses. Which makes sense. Sports teams, even the greatest dynasties of all time, are build for immediate success. Few of them are successful for more than two years, so why would that be any different for businesses built on the same ethos?
Yet, despite all this, despite the sickening conflation of work and play, despite the declining interest of filmmakers and studios, once in a while, we still get sports movies that hit home. So, beyond making sure that the technical and story aspects of the movies are solid, what makes those select few successful?
You have to cast right. This is the biggest issue with sports movies. If the actor can’t convincingly look like they play the sport at a high level, the movie is pretty much dead in a ditch to me. Even outside the arena, athletes carry themselves with the confidence that they are in control of every minute motion made by any part of their body. This confidence is often referred to as swagger, but let’s call it jock credibility.
Tumblr media
For example, in High School Musical, I totally believe Corbin Bleu’s Chad is a two-sport athlete, but it’s way tougher buying that a local community college would be interested in Troy Bolton, much less UC Berkeley. Zac Efron can spin the ball on his finger but that does not buoy his ghastly dribbling skills. One of the big flaws of High School Musical is choosing basketball as his sport. Basketball requires so much basic technical skill to qualify for an elite level that it requires someone who is actually excellent at the sport (Sanaa Lathan in Love and Basketball) or a generally athletic actor and some extremely creative editing (Wesley Snipes in White Men Can’t Jump).
This is why picking the right sport is crucial. Almost every great sports movie has a significant chunk of gameplay, so it’s always best if the sport allows the actors to easily fake competence. This is, for example, why there are very few great tennis films (a pure swing in tennis or golf is impossible to fake), while baseball (an objectively easier sport to pick up) has one of the best movie rosters.
The other secret sauce to cinematic sports is making sure the audience can identify the players. Again, it almost doesn’t need to be said, but film is a visual medium, and the best movies show the actors’ reactions, body language or expressions, so that the audience is inherently more likely to connect to the characters. This is also why individual (boxing) and individualistic (running) sports tend to be more successful than large team sports (American football).
The final key to a great sports movie – and this is entirely my own theory and thereby is likely to be complete nonsense – is stats. I know I just railed against the inadequacies of using stats in sports, but I think that if you can quantify the effort and contribution of each player in a sport, it makes it easier to portray it in a movie. In these sports, because it’s easier to see the importance of every player and every action, the filmmakers have a much easier job of setting up stakes in a way that even a novice to the sport could understand. Again, baseball comes to mind (it is after all the original Moneyball sport) but the example on the other side is football (as in soccer, not hand-egg). I think I might get yelled at for this one so let’s just start there.
Football is the least stats friendly of the major sports, because it’s such a fluid sport where the players’ contributions are so interwoven that it’s hard to quantify what an individual player means to a team – and indeed the importance of any single character to a narrative about football.
Tumblr media
Quick aside: In Bend It Like Beckham, both Keira Knightley and (especially) Parminder Nagra have unimpeachable levels of jock credibility, which is what sells it to me as a sports movie, even if the amount of football depicted is a bit sparse.
What I find amusing is that the other nearly impossible to adapt sport, tennis, has the opposite issue of football. It’s very easy to relate to the player, but it’s unbelievably hard to fake being good at tennis (see: 2004's Wimbledon – or don’t). There are very few good tennis movies.
Tumblr media
I don’t know if I can overstate how in the pocket I am for any basketball movie. To me, there are 5 great basketball movies, but there will seem to be one glaring omission, a pretender that everyone loves to bring up: Hoosiers. The gameplay in Hoosiers is awful, Gene Hackman (an actor I love) looks legitimately afraid of getting bonked in the head by a ball and the message is hacky and plays on racial prejudice. Plenty of movies have done the tough new coach concept better since then (Coach Carter, The Way Back, Hurricane Season). We certainly don’t need Hoosiers any more.
Tumblr media
I’m not much of a baseball fan, but baseball is the best screen sport for the same reasons that I think the real life version is quite dull. The games go on forever, it is a relatively unshowy sport (in terms of athletic feats) and there is enough time between each ball to have dialogue, make stressful decisions and build tension. Baseball is a poetic sport, the pounding thump of the ball against a glove, the crack of the bat when it connects, a runner sliding through the dirt to get to base. Movies about the great American pastime often tend to be similarly long, with a soothing energy and a quick (if quiet) wit.
To be fair, all of the above this can be said about cricket as well, so why have there been so few attempts at making a great cricket movie? I think the big difference is, where baseball gives the teams the opportunity for a back-and-forth in scoring, cricket is structured in a way that each team only has one chance to score, making it harder to show realistically dramatic shifts in momentum.
And more than any other sport, cricket and baseball are easiest for a newcomer to keep up with: there’s a ball, you gotta hit it. What’s confusing about that?
Tumblr media
With cycling and track sports, there is something that fascinates filmmakers. It might be a yearning for the near-total sense of control over one’s own achievements and failures that a track athlete might feel, which is antithetical to the inherently collaborative nature of moviemaking. Or maybe it’s a sense of kinship with the singular focus of the athletes and their constant tinkering with the most minute aspects of their craft that attracts legendary script doctors (Robert Towne) and detail-obsessed directors (Michael Mann). Whatever the reason, track movies tend to be philosophical and often pure meditations on determination and willpower.
Tumblr media
Pugilism. The sweet science. I started to obsessively watch boxing movies after I read Budd Schulberg's book Ringside. At the end of the book, he included an essay on the best boxing films in which he broke down the artistry in faking a fight for the silver screen. That really seeded itself in my brain and sprouted into such slightly unhinged takes as "Creed is the best Rocky movie" or "Ali examines the complicated public, personal and interior life of an iconic boxer better than Raging Bull".  The stakes in a fight are clear and most actors relish the chance to get into absurd shape and take their shirt off, so the pugilistic picture show will likely never die.
Tumblr media
Sidebar: Million Dollar Baby is often listed as one of the best fight movies and it likely is, but I watched it once a long time ago and it was one of the most thoroughly soul-crushing movie watching experiences of my life. I haven't been able to rewatch it since.
Field hockey is a rare movie sport for the same reasons as football, and even though Chak De India towers over most of the sports movie heap, it is not in general a cinematic sport. Ice hockey on the other hand is a much more dynamic game because it has some element of fight sport ingrained into it. And as much as I love Paul Newman's beautiful, soulful, sparkling blue eyes…
Sorry, what was I saying? Oh yeah, Goon has snatched the title of best ice hockey movie from Slap Shot, because it's basically what if Rocky wanted to be in a team sport.
Tumblr media
There are of course other sports that have received the silver screen treatment: American football (lots of okay movies but honestly none as good as the TV show Friday Night Lights), golf (Tin Cup, starring the movie king of sports Kevin Costner), racing (the impeccable Ford v. Ferrari) and so on and so on. Hell, one of my favourite movies of all time period is The Color of Money, and while that’s only half about shooting pool, it gives the audience, in parts, the ecstatic highs and the rock bottoms of a great sports story.
Tumblr media
But I think the subgenre that is the undisputed king of the sports movie right now is management. Like most non-traditional movements in modern sports, this starts with Moneyball. Is there a greater sports movie with less gameplay than Moneyball? No. Is there a sports movie that makes me choke up as reliably? Also no. It's filled with peeks into the behaviour of athletes, the superstitions and the motivations, the behind-the-scenes drama. One of the very few perfect films in my book. And while that's the peak of the management movie, there are some really strong movies in this category, from aspirational stories (Hustle) to morality tales (The Damned United) to weird experimental movies about the possible future of athlete management (High Flying Bird).
Tumblr media
Odd to close this with management, but that’s where we’re at, with sports movies to sports fandom. Everyone on the internet thinks they can manage or coach a team better than most professional managers or coaches, and movies are here to tell them, “Hey, maybe not.” As usual, I side with the movies.

Last post about this (probably), but.
The whole thing with the Vera-Danso Charmed Ones suddenly appearing at the Halliwell Manor through a multidimensional portal is... the writers did this at the very last minute when they KNEW there was a 50/50 chance they were going to be cancelled (and did get cancelled) AFTER spending four years alienating the original series' cast, crew, and fanbase.
It's WAY too fucking late to pull this off and then claim that season 5 would have delved further into the whole Melinda Warren easter egg back in the pilot + the connection between universes.
What I also find hilarious about this whole situation now that the reboot has been cancelled is... HOW were the writers going to resolve this in season 5 when there's no way in Hades they were going to get any of the original series' cast to reprise their roles after having repeatedly dunked on them for four years straight?
This was a BLATANT hook to drag in OG series fans and as a set up for a fifth season that is now never going to happen, and yet there are STILL reboot stans praising it for its mediocrity and doing the absolute bare minimum.
Not to mention the girls walking into the Halliwell Manor like they fucking own the place, asdfghjkl. I'm-- Yeah, Harry (their Whitelighter) and Jordan (Maggie's love interest and proto-Whitelighter) are never going to see their universe's Charmed Ones again, lmfao.
Like??? The Halliwells have been fighting evil and vanquishing demons in their own home for over twenty years. You don't just walk into their place like you own it, with them having no fucking idea who you are, and expect them NOT to retaliate. Especially not since it’s canon that the two previous times the Charmed Ones have had imposters break into the Manor to steal their powers and the Book of Shadows (s0s6e04 “The Power of Three Blondes” and s08e13 “Repo Manor”), the imposters were immediately vanquished/otherwise dealt with as soon as the Halliwells a) figured out what was going on; and b) got their powers back. (Not to mention that time in the novel Something Wiccan This Way Comes where three evil blonde sister witches try to kill the Charmed Ones to take their place after having kidnapped Piper, and after a battle with them and their followers, Piper just blows them up.)

I'm trying to think of any potential mianite season retellings and tbh I cant think of any? The only one I can remember is Between the Captain and his Journals but its only some bits of Mianite as flashbacks and mostly original story with Smplive/earth. There really isn't any modern representation of Mianite s1-2(spclly 2) proper, which is interesting when you consider how, somewhat different, the modern Mianite fandom interprets the canon. Dragon!Sparklez being more prevalent/near canon, gener+
general lack of Shipping culture with Jordan outside of a very select few things, How everyone views Martha and, her existence, The Demi-godness and the massive wrench thrown in by the weirdness of isle, etc. As a whole I do feel that the fandom has matured a fair bit, and fan writing works have become more celebrated and less stigmatized, which has encouraged a lot more writers to write some truly amazing things. I can write a whole rant about modern fanon cultur but im getting off track lmao
oh there are virtually very few! i know of A Couple only bc i was super active back when everyone else was, and also bc i went Searching, but the ones i remember weren't. Great. and also they're old! like you said, jordan's "characterization" has Drastically changed in the past few years. also back then we really celebrated the writers and their story bc. idk we weren't thinking critically in that sense, why would we? the mianite fanbase has grown and a lot of us are older and more attuned to like, what is better writing wise, paying far more attention to how bad some of it was, lol. nostalgia blinders off. you know. so i really do want to dip into a retelling and rewrite it would just be. SO much. i'd want to do all three seasons 😭

hi!! im the non who couldnt remember abou repeat questions. and i still cant remember about them. sorry again if theres any repeats <3
did tubbo ever... consider a different villain name? i'm assuming crumb did hers in a similar fashion to his?
you mentioned ranboo having powers--does any of the main cast know about them? (also, ranboo seems like a walking hazard. obsessed with that.)
is there social media? do heroes and villains have fanpages? more importantly, are there fancams of sparklez, underscore, and cuptoast duking it out?
how many boxes does crumb have?
thats all for now heehoo. love this au <3
don't worry about repeats!! just send em as you think of them, i don't mind :D
1. he did! jordan said that while he allowed tubbo to become a villain, he drew the line at swear words in his name >:/
2. as of right now, no! if crumb's ever seen him teleport she's definitely forgotten about it. the rest of the misferns know, as does 5up, but that's about it for the moment
3. there are SO many fanpages. none of them have actual official social medias for their sonas. the only ones that come close are michael, ofc, and jordan, but his is for quality content. cuptoast's fancams mostly use hyperpop, underscore's are a mixture of rock and alternative, and captain sparklez's are. uh. so u know Those fancams. the ones with a bit too suggestive music. yeah.
4. she's gone through about five boxes by now! her original was cardboard, which lasted approximately one (1) fight. she and tubbo experimented for a bit with different metals and sturdier materials until they settled on her current one! it'd be fairly heavy for a normal person to wear and run around in, but it's basically nothing for her

i spend... a lot of time reading about, listening to, and learning about hockey and i thought maybe you guys might be interested in the podcasts i follow. i don’t always listen to every episode of every show, but they’re things i have in my subscriptions and listen to frequently.
i’m going to end up having to put this under a cut because it’s getting really long.
general podcasts
the hockey pdocast - without a doubt my favorite general hockey podcast. dimitri filipovic is a stats guy who writes for eprinkside, and his analytic cast definitely shines through in the way he handles the topics. i like the variety of deep dives he does and i always feel like i come away from listening with better understanding of the topic because he doesn’t just talk stats, but gives you context for why those numbers might be the way they are, so if you’re trying to become more familiar with advanced stats this a great one to listen to. also his voice is just so soothing. absolutely my favorite car show.
the athletic hockey show - it’s frequent, long, and informative, but there are different hosts depending on the day and i definitely enjoy listening to some of them more than others (i like ian and hailey a lot, i enjoy the seans, craig and pierre know what they’re talking about but hoo boy i do not enjoy their episodes so much).
staff & graph - they are definitely leafs homers and some of their takes really annoy me especially because they purport to be analysis based and then like... will come out with something that’s not really an analysis so much as it’s, you’re a leafs fan and that’s your opinion, but for the most part i do enjoy it. doerrie is a former front office employee of the devils and she has a lot of very interesting inside knowledge and knowledge based on actually working closely with hockey teams. she still has connections so if you’re interested in ‘sources,’ she usually has good info and stories. again, usually come away feeling like i learned something.
soul on ice - kwame damon mason (film director and hockey fan), akil thomas (kings prospect), elijah roberts (formerly of the niagra ice dogs, currently playing college hockey) hang out and talk hockey and interview guests. they’re all really likeable dudes and have a lot of interviews with players of color and other interesting topics (taya currie!). a solid listen from both a fan and player perspective, for example it was cool to hear akil talking about his experiences during the covid season.
the cross-check nhl show - decent general hockey talk show. andrew berkshire is a habs writer and mary clarke is a general hockey writer but a flyers fan (a show made for me, haha). they’re likeable and have good opinions on social justice related issues within hockey. they cover major stories around the league, discuss their personal teams, and also do a little pop culture segment at the end that i usually skip.
hockey central - unfortunately this is like the epitome of a hockey man podcast (as in, it is literally all hockey men). they come from a variety of backgrounds, including players and coaches, and generally the actual hockey talk is good, even if they get on my nerves sometimes. if you want to know what the average player/former player is thinking this is a pretty good one. and they update a lot.
31 thoughts - jeff marek (also of the hockey central pod) and elliotte friedman talk hockey. if you’re looking for “insider” info this is one of those you’re gonna want to listen to. a bit wishy washy when it comes to stuff like the hawks scandals.
behind the gear - this is an interesting one, because they interview a lot of “lesser known” personalities but it’s always a pretty solid interview. again, i don’t listen to every interview but if there’s a guest that looks interesting, i’ll mark it for later. they have a bunch of interviews with nick and ryan suzuki so that was a personal interest of mine, haha.
puck soup - i almost never listen to this one because it’s too long (like episodes upwards of 100 minutes) and i really don’t like wyshynski as a person. but i do appreciate sean mcindoe. usually only tune in if there’s a topic i’m interested in.
6 degrees with mike mckenna - mike mckenna (former journeyman goalie and flyers goalie of the Eight Goalie Year and former vgk broadcast)’s interview / general hockey show. he’s very personable and a good interviewer.
the press zone - a show mostly focused on prospects, whether that’s in major juniors, the ahl, european leagues, etc. it’s a deeper dive into an area that a lot of the other shows don’t necessarily get to, so i appreciate it.
the hockey think tank - another ‘smaller’ podcast with some interesting and unexpected interviews. again, don’t listen to it all the time but it’s worth a shot if they have a topic you like.
the full 60 - craig custance’s solo show. another “insider.”
missin curfew - i usually only listen to this one if they have a guest i’m interested in because this is also a very bad example of hockey men hanging out and talking and you want to strangle them mostly. it’s two other dudes and kevin hayes’ older brother so you can pretty much expect exactly what you are getting from them.
the broadscast - wish there were more female hockey podcast hosts, but this one is a good one. i like the variety of guests that they have on. i don’t listen to it every episode but will tune in if there’s a topic i like.
flyers-related podcasts
broad street radio - i have such a hate/hate relationship with this one. it’s like the flyers podcast but i hate most of the hosts. i listen mostly for charlie o’connor, who is the only one who can reign in their terrible opinions.
flyers daily - daily news about the flyers, game recaps, and interviews with players. usually short and no-frills episodes, which i appreciate. myrtetus also plays goalie in beer league so he has a player’s perspective, at least, from that level.
flyers talk - nbc’s podcast with jordan hall, taryn hatcher, and joe fordyce. pretty basic talk show from a beat reporter, a former broadcast, and a guy named joe. again fairly no frills, do not always agree with them, but decent enough information.
everything but hockey - andrea helfrich, the most beautiful woman in the world’s, podcast. she does interviews with a lot of people who work with the team in some capacity (for example, nyree, the nutritionist) are associated with the team (she is great with interviewing wives and girlfriends), and the players themselves. she is super charming and good at talking to people so the episodes are usually fun to listen to.
snow the goalie - two flyers beat reporters i dislike but who nevertheless sometimes have The Info.
locked-on flyers - i haven’t actually listened to this much yet but i like locked-on habs a lot and i’m gonna have to give it a chance.
nasty knuckles - this is a podcast i absolutely suffer through. settlemyre is so fucking annoying and maybe the worst interviewer i’ve ever heard. however, if you are interested in the flyers, he has the goods. riley cote is also here. i have to get back to actually transcribing these again because really you don’t want to listen to them.
habs-related podcasts
le support athlétique - arpon and marc antoine from the athletic talk the habs. alternating episodes in french and english, which is frustrating when they are talking in french about something i want to listen to, but i think it’s cool that they provide for the entirety of the fanbase. they are fascinating to listen to, and obviously good friends. i enjoy their insights about the players and coaches.
eyes on the prize - one of my favorites. good hosts, great variety of topics, including interviews with european prospects that you don’t always hear from. it’s also an sbnation podcast but i like it so much better than i like bsh.
habs-statician - statistically-based habs analysis from a fan in toronto. dylan is a really thoughtful podcaster, and i appreciate listening to him very much.
locked-on canadiens - another daily listen. laura and scott continue the theme of the habs podcasts i enjoy which is mostly that they are really reasonable about their view of the team. they criticize when players aren’t doing well, but not in a mean way, and they praise the players who are doing well. i like the daily analysis and breakdown of the news mixed in with sillier segments like who would play the habs in a movie.
habs tonight - former hab and flyer dale weise and a rotating cast of co-hosts discuss habs related topics. i was skeptical at first because i thought it might be gossipy, but it’s actually not that bad. the hockey talk from a former player is all like “wow, that makes so much sense” when you hear it (the episode where weise talks about joël bouchard, in the first negative thing i’d ever heard about him, is one that i am specifically thinking of here). he’s also good at interviewing his former teammates, you can tell they are at ease with him.
history in the making - national treasure marc dumont interviews habs prospects and other people associated with the team. he is so funny and charming and knowledgeable about hockey, it is always worth a listen.
habby hour - i don’t really enjoy these hosts but i will listen if they’re interviewing someone i’m interested in.
other teams-related podcasts that i listen to
steve dangle - i will admit i mostly started listening to this one as schadenfreude, but for the most part i enjoy it. i don’t really like the co-hosts but i do enjoy how absolutely fed up he is with the leafs. :) but on a more serious note, they do some good work, i was very impressed with their recent episode interviewing rick westhead about his work on the chicago coverups.

Bot-fighting
The city’s underground scene has built up an extensive network of organisers, participants and viewers of the notorious illegal pastime of bot-fighting. Most of the time the fights are run by small groups of long-time participants and essential information such as dates, locations and the type of fights taking place are spread around through the community. Most of the time this is done in-person to avoid the police finding out too easily, however some private forums online also spread the info around to those willing to get involved with the digital side of the activity. The fights always take place in the rundown dingy back streets that are too narrow to fit police cars down. In these alleys, makeshift audience seating is created from whatever crates, fire exits or dumpsters are available, all around a central ring where the participants will sit opposite one another.
A well-known organiser of these events is Raya, who used to fight herself but had to stop after she could no longer find the time to build her own bots. She has an air of confidence and wit to her that viewers find appealing. It makes her very good at commentating the fights, as well as manipulating contestants to keep betting which creates more excitement. Despite being a well-known name in the field, very little about her life outside the fights is known. She keeps a low profile, wearing a costume inspired by her Indonesian heritage to the fights so no one really knows her true appearance besides her dark long hair. She is also very good at deflecting people’s attempts to follow her by either catching them stalking her home or just beating them up and leaving them. To this day no one knows much about her and it’s one of the many mysteries of the subculture. Even some people who don’t attend the fights know of her purely because figuring out the secret of her identity is an alluring point of interest.
Betting is a massive draw to the fights. Participants will bet against each other for vast sums of money (which Hiro manipulated to hell and back to win huge amounts). However, the audience regularly bet against each other as well. Riley almost got sucked into this side of bot-fighting before Jordan pulled her back from recklessly wasting a ton of money. If Hiro is in the ring, however, Riley might sneakily bet with people who underestimate him because he’s “just a kid”. Some fanatics may even start keeping note of which fighters become recurring contestants, leading to small fanbases building up around a lot of more established fighters.
Of course, with the fights being illegal the police are bound to show up. Most often if this happens the back streets become both a place of refuge and a ‘death’ trap. The many winding streets filled with rundown shops, abandoned storefronts and fire escapes make for perfect hiding places and escape routes to the rest of the city, however getting caught in a dead end spells certain arrest. One has to memorise the correct routes in and out of this part of the city, sometimes even stooping as low as taking the sewers from one side of town to another. Those caught bot-fighting usually just go to holding and children are mostly let off the hook due to their age, however it is possible for those caught gambling to be tried and fined. This barely ever happens though.
Some bot-fighting rings are more official than others. The ring Raya runs is pretty relaxed, allowing people to simply show up and fight. Rings run by underground house names such as Yama however are a bit more ‘high-brow’, having connections to crime organisations, money laundering and gang activity. While being associated with rings such as Yamas makes a person more renowned, it is also more dangerous as these rings can be a pipeline to more sinister illegal activities. Hiro eventually got pulled into this side of bot-fighting to prove his worth to himself after losing to Penny, much to the dismay of Riley, Jordan and Miguel who had stayed on the fringes of it and only really watched Raya’s fights.
Once in the fights, they tend to be split into two categories: ‘free for all’ and ‘tournament’. In a free for all, anyone is allowed to enter their bots and bet in round of 1v1. This was how Hiro originally broke into the subculture by purposely losing his first fight, betting double and taking the final winnings. Tournaments tend to be for more well-established fighters and the placement in a tournament will greatly affect their reputation within the community. To read more about bot-fighting tournaments, go to the bot-fighting section of this post.
Overall, bot-fights are a staple of the youth subculture of San Fransokyo. Even though they’re illegal, they draw in crowds and cause a lot of talk to spread throughout the community. Most citizens involved with the subculture will have been to at least one by the age of 18, though the average age to watch regularly or participate is early to mid 20s.

The Sims 4 Star Wars Journey to Batuu: Community’s First Impressions
When EA revealed The Sims 4 Star Wars: Journey to Batuu during today’s Gamescom Opening Night Live, players in the community took to social media to let their opinion on the game be known. The Fansite Simsvip ask players on Twitter what their initial thoughts were, so here is a collection of thoughts from players around the community…
It’s basically Strangerville but with a super niche audience. No one will get most of the references unless they’re a Star Wars fan. It’ll probably provide an hour of gameplay and that’s it. Ngl though it looks well made
— Sugar G (@appIause) August 27, 2020
I personally don't see a place for it in the Sims franchise as an actual in-world location. The Sims is supposed to be a life simulation at heart with fantasy thrown in. Not a badly disquised advert for a completely different I.P. If I wanted to play a Star Wars game I'd buy one.
— Alistair Stuart (@Alistu_Sims) August 27, 2020
It's a cool idea. For some reason I love shameless branding like this. It will probably be a nice change of pace at the very least.
— Paul (@ThePJBentley) August 27, 2020
It's not my favorite theme. But since it's here.. I'm going to take full advantage of it 😊
— Mimy S Flores (@mimysf1111) August 27, 2020
Definitely not a pack I would enjoy. Either for the game content. Storyline or the build and buy it all looked very uninteresting, I may still enter in some giveaways for the pack but this will be the 2nd pack including bowling I will never purchase. Just not enough in it:)
— JoJo🕵️‍♀️ (@JoJoPandaX) August 27, 2020
I’m not a fan of the movie series but this pack actually interests me
— Akane (@Aka_RoseGaming) August 27, 2020
Its unexpected but i think it'll be fun. And it also means i can make my swtor characters in sims so thats honestly what I'm looking forward to most with this.
— Shey (@Shey_Shen) August 27, 2020
I’m excited! I love the idea of missions to influence which side wins. I do think it will be fun to play with still might wait for a sale 😅
— Sophie is not Social (@SophienotSocial) August 27, 2020
I've sat idly by while knitting and laundry and university packs rolled around. They weren't my cup of tea or first choice, but I never tore down and ostracized those who were excited because the DLCs didn't fit my own personal expectations. I'm really excited for this pack! 😊
— LanceChristophr (@lancechristophr) August 27, 2020
Literally the first pack I have absolutely no interest in buying. I am very disappointed. It's fine for those who are fans and all, but I feel like this pack is so specific. I usually can find SOMETHING I like even in the packs that really aren't my gameplay style but this? NO :(
— Louise Laursen (@PurpleMio) August 27, 2020
Feel like we already had enough star wars content in the game. I feel like a into the future pack mightve been more well received. At least there are people who enjoy it though so can’t say no one’s getting anything good!
— bag of bones (@savantavocado) August 27, 2020
I hoped it wasn't going to be star wars when I heard. I don't have anything against the franchise, it's the fact that it' so highly specific and caters to a different audience is what baffles me. It's obvious that it's something that was pushed by EA to advertise their new game.
— 🍞𝙇𝙀𝙀💕 (@imCement) August 27, 2020
My thoughts were "Where is my Harry Potter pack?" Like boarding school for children sims, werewolves, fairies, etc.
— 🌈Jordan aka Snow🌈 (@Bookfangirl742) August 27, 2020
I 100% didn't need it right now. I feel like this was more an EA/Disney move rather than the core Sims team. Mainly because we need so much more in terms of gameplay, representation and playability. I could've got behind it if it was released sometime next year instead of now.
— Camille (@CraftyGamer89) August 27, 2020
I think the reason everyone has such an issue is that there are so many things the sims 4 is missing as a life simulation game and then they choose to put the time and effort into a star wars pack..i happy for those who want it but i get why everyone else is so upset
— Lauren Attwood (@LaurenAttwood69) August 27, 2020
We wanted more realistic gameplay and the gave us Starwars?!?! Why??!?!
— willemijn kroon (@williekr2000) August 27, 2020
im just... wow, at least I wasn't mad but rather sad how EA is so disconnected to the Sims fanbase desires and pleas for our favorite game
— I build anything and I stan OT9, OT4, & OT7! (@J_Lanz16) August 27, 2020
im just... wow, at least I wasn't mad but rather sad how EA is so disconnected to the Sims fanbase desires and pleas for our favorite game
— I build anything and I stan OT9, OT4, & OT7! (@J_Lanz16) August 27, 2020
Not feeling optimistic about it at all tbh, looks like it may have about as much replay value as Strangerville buuuuut at the same time it opens up the option to lightsaber duel Judith Ward so I guess I’ll give it a shot
— Dex (@Theyhrite) August 27, 2020
Excited for the droids and lightsabers. Seem like they can be fun and I image there will be a mod out soon for a lightsaber death since the sims will probably not give us one
— 🐁 ғᴇᴀɴᴏʀ ⟴🐀 (@_neonheart_) August 27, 2020
maybe if the game was more complete then sure but, the sims feels very empty and is lacking a lot. the last thing we need is a star wars pack right now
— heather (@heathermk_) August 27, 2020
i think it could be cool if your sims could actually live on batuu (maybe after completing the story or smth idk) but if it just turns out like a vacation world you go to once and then forget about it's gonna be disappointing
— cali (@caligumu) August 27, 2020
baffled, honestly. like. why is this a thing?! I have zero interest in farming or "better babies" but this just feels *really* out of place?? Strangerville has its appeal and Eco Lifestyle was just a very very bad case of "poor marketing", but this is just. 🤔🤔🤔
— Fae (@fae_of_the_rose) August 27, 2020
I said this before but... They are going to add light sabers before inclusive skin tones... let that sink in.
— Lil Ass Kicker (@Firelillx) August 27, 2020
THE SIMS 4 IS NOT IMMERSIVE ENOUGH FOR THIS TYPE OF NICHE GAME PACK!! They have refused to fix some of the most basic features (skin tones & babies) but they have the time and resources for these new special aliens??????? Make it make sense.
— whatamievendoin (@whatamievendo14) August 27, 2020
We already have Sixam which is not exploiting. Why take a franchise that does not reach the players. pic.twitter.com/aPhd1QBmZs
— The Queen alien -🛸 sims - (@The_Queen_Alien) August 27, 2020
Not at all interested.
— Sunshine (@sunshine0375) August 27, 2020
I was a little worried how this would combine with the Sims. It seemed so alien (no pun intended) to the rest of the gameplay. But after seeing the trailer I can’t help with being excited. It looks beautiful and definitely different. The build and buy objects look great so far
— Chantal Noordeloos (@C_Noordeloos) August 27, 2020
I’m still wtf’ing. It’s too niche for a game that is supposed to be a LIFE simulation game, too specific-to-star-wars-fans to appeal to a wider audience. It also makes me sad thinking about the future of the franchise when they seem so disconnected in what the community wants.
— Hayley Marie (@countrystrongau) August 27, 2020

my thoughts on the 100 series finale
okay so just before this episode i watched last weeks episode because i really just Didn’t wanna watch it jroth really had me Dreading having to watch the show
i want to make it clear that i hate jroth and he managed to fuck up Everything in these last few episodes
but, and i don’t know if it was my Lowwwww expectations of this episode or what, i didn’t Hate it
i have So many issues with it and i didn’t Like it, but i Kinda get it
so first off hate that they killed madi that was fucked up and stupid like why did jroth say “everyone clarke loves has to die otherwise she’s not Really traumatized” like fuck him
honestly i think my biggest issue these past few episodes is that jroth just rewrote clarke’s character, like she obviously would never have killed bellamy but she also would Not have been as selfish as she’s been these last couple episodes
clarke griffin is my favorite character of all time (i mean now its a bit difficult separating this fucked version jroth randomly made from the real one in my heart) and so much of this just Wasn’t her
idk like Obviously she’d be focused on madi and Only madi but i just feel like the way she treated everyone else just Wasn’t her
okay so before i watched the episodes i actually knew a lot of what happened because i said “fuck it i’ll spoil myself i don’t give a shit” and while looking at things i was like “what the fuck is the point of the show if the human race doesn’t even technically survive???” but i actually kinda get the point now that i’ve seen it
like although i still do Not like the transcendence plot (honestly wtf jroth) i think the show has tried to convey this idea of violence being the death of humanity, and this episode (especially octavia’s speech) did cement that in a way
oh that reminds me i also hate that raven is the one who beat the test while clarke was just off alone with madi not caring about Anyone else
like i know obviously she’s gonna be Fucked up, but first off she is the main character like the fact that octavia and raven were the actual ones who fixed everything just kinda didn’t vibe with me right (although i love octavia and raven obviously), and second off again she wouldn’t just give up that easily on the test nor would she just abandon everyone else
and when i say this i mean Our clarke, the Real clarke, wouldn’t do that, this clarke that jroth made was born when she killed bellamy, because all of these things that are totally out of clarke’s character make sense when you look at the fact that she killed bellamy, and because Our clarke would Not kill bellamy she also wouldn’t do all this bullshit jroth is pulling
some quick side notes
loved murphy and emori so glad they got the happy ending they Deserve honestly my fav canon couple i the show
also love octavia and levitt they looked so cute at the end
jordan and hope doesn’t make sense honestly it was super forced and hope is Clearly a lesbian and her and echo are in Love (hecho rights)
loved indra killing sheidheda what a good time
so about the actual ending on the beach, i actually liked that singular part of it if everything else before it was fixed (that way madi and bellamy could Also be there, and also they should be able to reproduce honestly that part is weird)
i felt like clarke accepting that she was the one human who couldn’t ascend went back to her selfless nature that jroth was ignoring for some reason (i think she should have killed cadogan but then tried to save the human race and basically had raven’s test too ya know, and then maybe the judge could’ve been like “either you all die, or everyone transcends but you” and clarke could’ve agreed i think that would’v been good)
i also liked that her fam came back for her, like it finally shows them appreciating clarke and giving back what she’s given them throughout the show (although again i think madi should’ve come back too but thats fine)
again, im not saying i Like the transcendence, i think it would’ve been better for humanity to actually be able to survive on its own in peace without promise of becoming balls of light but i liked the beach scene ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
also wanted to talk about the fact that lexa was the judge because i have seen some thoughts on it
so first off i am a bellarke shipper who Also loved clexa and love lexa in general and i was Very happy to see that she was back
something i think is interesting that the judge said the person is not Necessarily the one the person loves most but their greatest Teacher, and i Do feel like clarke learned so much not necessarily by lexa but through her?
personally tho if i was gonna pick a person for clarke i might have gone her dad or maybe wells because rip wells (or obviously bellamy but ya know)
anyway i was so happy to see lexa and clarke looked so happy even for a second which was so good
but despite all this i do want to recognize that bringing back lexa was a Complete manipulation move by jroth because he’s just trying to bring back some of his alienated fanbase
but even though its So manipulative we can still appreciate lovely lexa obviously
okay those are my thoughts idk i’m less upset about it than i thought i’d be but i think that’s peace 1. my expectations were in the literal gutters and 2. i did still like all the other characters and felt that they did good ya know, like its really the ooc clarke that is my main issue (and jroth’s just shit writing in general)
also wanted to say that the cast was honestly amazing tho like they did gr8 and i just wish they had a better writer than jroth
i also hope one day we’ll find out if there really was a fight between bob and jroth and thats why everything got so fucked because apparently he was mad at bob and eliza?? like idk if he’s That petty but.....
anyway have i mentioned fuck jroth

✧・゚:    jordan  fisher  +  cis  male  +  he  &  him    |    if  you’re  ever  by  room  5e,  you  might  see  sterling  thomas  floating  around.  you  know  ,  the  twenty-five  year  old  taurus  who’s  lived  in  the  complex  for  two  years  ?  you  know  ,  the  musician  seems  to  remind  everyone  of  carrying  around  a  guitar  on  your  back,  random  dance  moves  at  any  given  moment,  one  too  many  cups  of  coffee.  i  wonder  if  that  has  to  do  with  their  stand-offish  yet  charming  personality.
hello  again  my  lil  cupcakes  ,  it’s  me  ,  blue  here  with  my  second  lil  dumbass  ,  sterling.  just  like  before  you  can  like  this  or  message  me  if  you  wanna  plot  !
Tumblr media
stats.
name : sterling zachariah thomas.
age : twenty - five
orientation : bisexual
height : 5′10 , yes i am making jordan fisher taller don’t judge me
zodiac : taurus
style : laid back , skinny jeans , round neck cotton t shirts ( favorite colors include pink, yellow, and blue ), usually has his guitar with him
lil things.
pinterest
background.
sterling thomas was born to a single father in palm springs , california. his mother was never interested in raising him but his father stepped up & took care of him with pretty much nothing to his name.
sterling & his dad are incredibly close ! his dads like his best friend and they’ve been through everything together.
because of his upbringing , sterling didn’t really have a lot growing up. they lived in a one bedroom apartment and he did little things around the complex to help earn money for him and his dad. teachers are his school were super receptive and always sent him home with food and things to make sure he was okay.
ever since he learned his mom didn’t want to stick around & was just out there letting his dad do this alone , his heart closed up a bit and he only really gave out trust to his dad.
however , as closed off as he was , he learned to dance his way around words to benefit himself and his dad. anything he could do to make sure they stayed afloat.
as soon as he was hold enough , he was working at least two jobs to be able to support him and his dad comfortably. it was a lot of work , but it was worth it.
once he turned eighteen and graduated high school , sterling already knew he didn’t plan on going to college. it wasn’t something they could afford or really even something he felt like he wanted to do.
but his dad has been saving little by little over the years without telling sterling and had originally planned on using it to get sterling into college. however , he wasn’t going to force him to.
instead , he told sterling about the money and let him figure out what he wanted to do with it.
for a year , sterling didn’t do much with it. however , he did buy a camera and some other tools to help him start a youtube channel.
besides his dad , the only consistency in his life had been music. it was his escape after work or after school. he had friends at school but never really wanted to spend time with them.
was always the kid walking around with a guitar over his back and making people swoon with his music.
SO ANYWAY ! on a whim , he decides to make this youtube channel.
it gains some traction and he begins to work some lil gigs here and there.
as time goes on , sterling wants to be in california less and less. and eventually , he dad convinces him to go on the road.
on a total whim with the saving his dad gave him , sterling leaves california and travels the states working little gigs here and there as well as vlogging his travels to build up money.
eventually , two years ago , he finds and settled down in vegas. theres something about the busy city that just drew him in , and he wanted to spend time really building a bigger fanbase.
he’s not a super super well known musician , but he’s getting there.
headcanons & personality.
character inspo : jim halpert , benji ( love victor ).
his personality is just a little bit hard to describe.
isn’t very open when you first meet him , can be super stand offish and it’s easy to assume he doesn’t like you.
however , it’s not that he doesn’t he just isn’t super quick to trust or let people into his circle.
has been in a few relationships but nothing has ever really worked out for him.
is a super good dancer but doesn’t ever take himself seriously.
beautiful heart warming smile i’ll cry right now
has a very sarcastic sense of humor
visits his dad in california at least twice a month
obsessed w kit kat bars??
can be super goofy once you get to know him but can also be a bit of an ass on any given day
curls. thats it. thats the bullet point.
i know that theres more but my head hurts and i want to get this out before opening so pls baRE WITH ME
sterling is a new muse so i’m still working on him :)

...000. INTRODUCTION.
helloooo lovelies ! my name is naomi (he/him), i’m twenty-two and from the gmt timezone ! i’m super excited for this to open because i’ve got so much muse right now. i’m down for any and all plots, seriously, i love plotting ! this is calvin, he’s an angry mess of a character, but he’s fun to play, so ! if you just wanna get to know the character, you can skip past the other sections and just focus on personality, i’ve also put some wanted connections in there too ! if you would like to plot, then either shoot me a message here or on discord (heterosexual? how vintage!#8600) or alternatively, like this post and i will message you !
Tumblr media
caution: alcohol, drugs, mental health, death.
°☼ ◜ xavier serrano, cismale, he/him ◞ ∗ ∘ good to see you again, calvin marx. you're twenty-three now, right ? i heard you’ve been streaming professionally on twitch  … crazy how time flies. you were always known as the crimson. i’m glad to see you’re just as gregarious as always — and volatile, too .. kidding ! bella used to always mention it …you were her bad influence, after all. don’t worry, we’ll find her soon. what matter is that we’re together now, right ? not really.  + thrift-store clothing, bruised knuckles, a scent of cologne & cigarettes.  + watermelon sugar by harry styles.
...001. BRIEF HISTORY.
calvin grew up very underprivileged for the first 11 years of his life in brooklyn, ny.
his father died when he was 5 years old to a drug overdose, leading his mother became a single mother to him and his younger sister, essentially meaning that calvin had to grow up and be the ‘man of the house’ without having a choice.
because of her new single-mother status, calvins mother had to work 3 different jobs in order for the family to pay rent (a cleaner in mornings, a store assistant in the day and a bartender in the evenings), which meant she was rarely home and left calvin to raise both himself and younger sister.
from a very early age, it was apparent that calvin suffered from anger issues, dyslexia and adhd, constantly getting into fights at every opportunity, his complete inability to focus and never managing to make it through a week at school without a phone call home.
these issues remained untreated, due to his mother putting it down to the ‘boys will be boys’ ideology, and concluding that calvin was just an energetic one at that.
because of this, calvin fell into the wrong crowd pretty quickly and settled into his mindset that he was never going to achieve all that much anyway, because no matter how hard he tried, he could never score well on any test at school.
at the age of 9, calvins mother met, fell in love with and soon married a former client for whom she cleaned for.  calvins new step father was incredibly wealthy, due to being a successful franchisee and also being very largely into stock trading.
calvin, his sister and mother were all moved to his home in wilmington, which calvin struggled to adjust to, as he missed his friends back north.
he quickly made friends with the clique as he was brought into it by jordan and it did put some ease on his pressure, but part of him always felt like he should still be back in brooklyn.
now having access to as much money as he want led him down an early path into experimenting with drugs and alcohol, which soon became a bad habit.
although he wanted to drop out of school, his new step-father would not allow it, which became a large source of conflict for the family over the course of the next few years.
failing to graduate high school at age eighteen, calvin couldn’t deal with living with his family any more and left the house to move into a small apartment, 30 minutes away, with a roommate (possibly a member of the clique).
calvins only real passions were for gaming and sport, and as he smoked and did way too many drugs to make it in any sporting profession, he turned his attention to twitch streaming. he began this pretty soon and built up a solid fanbase (which he wanted to call the marxists, but in calvins words, apparently some dead man already claimed that title).
...002. PERSONALITY.
calvin is a naturally angry person who can lose his cool and go from 0 to 100 in a matter of seconds, he rarely gives off signs that he is getting angry until he boils over, so people tend to watch what they say around him.
calvin is self-serving, his feelings will always come before those around him. although he is getting better at managing this, if something will result in calvin gaining something at the expense of somebody else, he will most likely go ahead with it.
calvin is not well educated, so he doesn’t tend to enjoy arguing with words, as he can never seem to find the ones to correctly express how he feels. instead, calvin is much more likely to act physically when something has irritated him (whether this be on a person or inanimate object).
calvin is an awful liar, he cannot lie to save his life as his face always tends to show when he doesn’t agree with an idea/opion/thought that somebody says. because of this, he is very outspoken, and will just say what he’s thinking regardless of if it’s going to hurt somebodies feelings. he’d rather upset them with the truth, than get caught out for lying.
calvin is an extrovert and gains energy from being around people - the more people the better, because of this, he has become a major party animal and loves attending any and all parties that is going on, despite if he’s fond of the hosts or not.
calvin is a heavy user of drugs, alcohol & cigarettes. this is primarily down to his naturally addictive personality and constant need to feel like he’s happy, so that he doesn’t get sad again. there will rarely be a day where he will not  be intoxicated in some way and he will have a cigarette at least once an hour -- and that’s on a good day.
calvin is very much into sports. although not a natural athlete, nor somebody interested in playing sports competitively, calvin loves watching any and all sports, and he likes to play them when he can. due to his smoking habit, he can’t play sports for too long, but will always give it a good go.
similarly to this, calvin is very much into gaming. calvin loves fast-paced games, because they manage to keep his attention despite him not having a very long attention span. most games that he plays are first person shooters, and he’s usually the guy on the mic screaming when a teammate fucks up during online play. a big appeal to him was that games were the only thing he could focus his mind on as a child.
calvin is very much a boys boy, he genuinely abides by the bible of ‘ bros before hoes ‘ because he’s stupid.
calvin hates movies but loves tv, he finds that watching moves involves sitting still for too long, but tv allows him to take more breaks and keeps his interest for longer. although. he’d probably trade both of them for a chance to leave the house.
...003. TRAITS.
[ G R E G A R I O U S ] (+) — a person fond of company; sociable.
[ I N T U I T I V E ] (+) — using or based on what one feels to be true even without conscious reasoning; instinctive.
[ F O R T H R I G H T ] (+) — direct and outspoken.
[ V O L A T I L E ] (-) — liable to change rapidly and unpredictably, especially for the worse.
[ V E N G E F U L ] (-) — not willing to forgive or excuse people's faults or wrongdoings.
[ H E D O N I S T I C ] (-) — engaged in the pursuit of pleasure; sensually self-indulgent.
...004. BELLA KIM.
when calvin met bella, he never took too much of a shine to her, deeming her to be a rather fake individual and not understanding the rest of the groups investment with her. however, because he was a new introduction to the group and not there from the beginning, calvin felt he couldn’t really speak up and vocalise that without being dropped from the group himself.
for whatever reason, bella herself took a liking to calvin and he decided to use this to his advantage. for a girl with such a clean reputation, it seemed only the sensible thing to try and corrupt her -- which proved successful.
calvin introduced bella to the world of bad decisions and the two spent many nights breaking several laws and it created a sort of bond that only the pair really understood. they never talked about anything personal -- or, if they did, they were too high to remember -- but calvin saw a side to bella that not many others did, which he liked.
after moving out, calvin and bellas meetings became much less frequent as the group drifted apart. they would still meet up for occasional meet-ups, their last one being 3 months before the disappearance of bella.
calvin does not believe that she is alive and is dealing with it, as expected, not very well.
...005. WANTED CONNECTIONS.
CURRENT BEST FRIENDS — Possibly a boy squad? I live for a good boy squad. This person will have similar interests to Calvin, or be able to tolerate his volatile mood.
CHILDHOOD BEST FRIENDS — Someone with a similar upbringing from Brooklyn, most likely they grew apart when Calvin moved to Wilmington.
RIDE OR DIES — Although he primarily looks out for himself, I’m down to have Calvin have one person who he’s loyal to and will refuse to betray, we can come up with a fun reason for why he cares so much if you’re interested in this one.
HIS ROOMMATE — Somebody that moved with Calvin into his current apartment when he moved out at 18.
A GOOD INFLUENCE ON CALVIN — One of my favorite connections for Calvin to have is somebody who knows all of his flaws and attempts to help fix them. They’ll have to be patient, though, as Calvin doesn’t see himself for having any issues.
SOMEBODY HE IS A BAD INFLUENCE OF — On the opposite, I love when Calvin has somebody that he can introduce to bad things, corrupt easily and get a kick out of watching the commotion.
EXES ON BAD TERMS — Cheating on each other is usually an easy one to go with, but if you want, we can think of something more unique as to how it all fucked up and why they now hate each other.
EXES ON GOOD TERMS — Maybe they still occasionally fuck? There could still be an attraction there, but just no romantic chemistry. Alternatively, they tried it and both just couldn’t see it going anywhere.
EXES WITH LINGERING FEELINGS — There’s a ton of different reasons for why there’s still lingering feelings. The feelings could be one-sided or both ways.
EX FLINGS — Started as friends with benefits, one of them wanted more, the other didn’t, they decided to stop before someone got hurt.
FRIENDS WITH BENEFITS — No romantic intention, just a good way to kill time at 2 AM, or maybe it’s easy to know you have someone to go home to if you don’t find someone at a party.
FRIENDS FOR NECESSITY — This friend may not have that much in common with Calvin, they may not really get on in day to day life, but they are always there to get high, attend a party or do something dumb. an easy person to talk to when they’re both bored and wanna get out.
HIS YOUNGER SISTER — If anybody fancies a second character, I’m always down to have Calvins sister in the roleplay. They can either get along or not, we’ll just figure out the details.
EX FRIENDS — Used to be close but now aren’t, plenty of reasons as to why.
ENEMIES — Despise each other, seeing this person literally makes Calvins blood boil. Possibly sexual tension too if that would work, if not, they can just fight a lot.
WILL THEY / WON’T THEY — Lots of leading on and teasing each other, maybe they both think they’re stringing the other along but it turns out neither of them are interested? Maybe they start out not interested and it backfires later, by that time the other could’ve lost interest.
ANY OTHER IDEAS YOU THINK WILL WORK !
...006. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.
Calvin is bisexual but heteroromantic, so any sexual-based connections can be taken by any gender.
Calvins Pinterest can be located here. Please note that it contains triggers for alcohol, drugs, blood & violence.

I recently got an ask regarding why so many people (on Tumblr in particular) have been spreading hateful messages about the St. Louis Blues. I was just going to say all this as an answer to that ask, but as I typed out (what became a very long post) I decided I wanted to make it into a separate post because I went a little off the rails with it.
The answer to why so many people around here hate the St. Louis Blues isn’t clear cut. I have, however, compiled many of the reasons I have heard along with my own speculations into this post.
1. Jordan Binnington
I’m sure everyone knows about this one, but I’ll recap as concisely as I can. On April 9 (the day before the St. Louis Blues were set to play their first game against the Winnipeg Jets in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs) a report from the Winnipeg Free Press came out ‘exposing’ three tweets Binnington had made in 2013/14. The tweets are in that article if you’re interested in reading them. Now, I’m not saying that we shouldn’t call people out on their shit. Go for it, if someone says something insensitive or harmful, ask them about it. Ask them why they think that, why they would say that. Take the time to tell them why what they said was harmful. However, I’m not here for “cancel culture”. I think people change and should be given the opportunity to do so. These tweets were 5 and 6 years old at this point. So, either this person knew about these tweets for some time and waited until the team was about to play their first game in the playoffs. Or, they went digging through his Twitter in hopes of finding something to hopefully shake up Binnington before his first appearance in the playoffs.
1b. Jordan Binnington, again
Binnington was recently nominated for the Calder Memorial Trophy (Rookie of the Year). Obviously, Binnington (and the rest of the Blues organization) have no control over this. However, this has still caused some upset regarding who wasn’t nominated, namely Miro Heiskanen of the Dallas Stars. The nomination announcement came out at the same time the St. Louis Blues were playing the Dallas Stars in the second round of the playoffs, which didn’t help the situation. Binnington’s age has also been called into question regarding this nomination. Binnington is 25. The other finalists are Rasmus Dahlin (19 years old) and Elias Pettersson (20 years old). There is question about Binnington being nominated for a rookie of the year award when he is older than some of the other possible contenders. That being said, the sentiment that I’ve seen on this site regarding other things is that everyone goes at their own speed and the age at which you accomplish something shouldn’t matter. But I guess that only applies to some people.
2. The Blues are a ‘dirty’ team
They’re not. At least, I don’t think so. If you watch the YouTube channel ‘The Hockey Guy’ (who is by no means the authority on hockey, but who has very extensive hockey knowledge, has watched much more hockey than I have AND was cheering for the Dallas Stars) he also doesn’t think the St. Louis Blues are a dirty playing team. The St. Louis Blues, however, are a big team. According to NovaCapsFans (who have taken their stats from a paid site, so I’m sorry to whoever is getting hosed there) the St. Louis Blues average out at the 7th tallest team in the NHL and the 6th heaviest. They have been playing a very physical game. And they have every right to do so. Hockey is a contact sport. Not all hits are dirty and not every time a player falls on the ice is because they’ve been tripped. Obviously, it’s hard to see a player on your team get hurt and nobody wants to see injuries happen, but an injury is not equivalent to a team playing dirty.
3. Appearance
Not trying to call anyone (or any fanbase) out, but most of the people on this site care A LOT about hockey player’s physical appearances. I think the most obvious example of the St. Louis Blues falling victim to this very surface level judgment of hockey is with Colton Parayko (don’t get me wrong, I love him, and I think he’s a great player and does a ton for the team). Parayko is an attractive guy. He is also one of the only players on the team to get much attention on Tumblr outside of specifically Blues centered blogs. I’ll admit that I fall into this to some extent as well. I find lots of players attractive, I’ve watched games because there are players on the team that I discovered because I thought they were attractive. I’m not trying to say I’m above it. What I am saying is that I don’t base my hockey opinions on the looks of the players on the team.
4. Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn
The St. Louis Blues played against (and beat) the Dallas Stars, home of a couple of Tumblr’s most beloved players, Seguin and Benn. They have some truly dedicated fans, I’ll give you that. There’s nothing necessarily wrong happening here, I just think a lot of the animosity comes from that large collective of fans really fueling each other.  Again, I’m not saying it’s bad, but there’s just a lot of very visible and vocal fans of these two (and the Stars in general, I guess) on Tumblr.
5. Joe Thornton
The media had been having a heyday with the idea of ‘Jumbo Joe’ winning his first Stanley Cup due to his many years of playing hockey without winning a cup and the possibility of this being his last year in the NHL. I honestly think this led a lot of people who wouldn’t have otherwise had much of an opinion on this series to cheer for the Sharks and subsequently feel upset when the Sharks lost.
So, that’s an essay and a half. If anyone actually read all that, you’re incredible and thank you!

Good Things Festival 2018 Sydney Review
Note before I begin: This review is limited to who I saw so not everyone is accounted for here.
The death of Soundwave left many rock fans without a decent festival.  Warped Tour had already gone along with Big Day Out.  Rock fans needed more.  Finally Download Festival came to Australia via Melbourne and will go to more states early next year but another legendary festival appeared suddenly which proved to be a good thing…I’m sorry.
Good Things Festival arrived this week spanning the east coast and if yesterday showed anything, it’s that Australia’s rock festival spirit is still alive and well.  As early as the first set with Ecca Vandal, the show got things going with tonnes of energy.  She balanced modern music with a heavier rock edge that made it equal measures perfect for head-banging and dancing most of the time.  Towards the end of her set, she even danced in the crowd.  A fantastic start to an amazing day.
Tumblr media
WAAX soon followed, with the same enthusiasm that saw them excite Fall Out Boy fans earlier this year.  The band powered through every song with ease.  Boston Manor came on next with the crowd growing as the day went on.  Singer Henry Cox did an amazing job on getting the crowd excited while Jordan Pugh packed every track with a pun on drums.
Later on, Babymetal emerged on the other side of the park, their first time performing in Sydney and they made sure everyone remembered it.  Despite recent lineup changes, the band drew a great crowd showcasing how diverse their fanbase is and surprising newcomers with their energy.  While Su-Metal is arguably the focus at this point, Moa-Metal showed she isn’t letting recent departures push her into the background.  A new female member (Saya?) completed the trio and provided enough energy to keep up with fellow members.  The instrumentation was amazing as expected from Babymetal.  Although the members on instruments are not the face of the band, they truly do make the sound work, balancing the metal and j-pop elements of their sound perfectly.  Ending their set with Metal Resistance was a perfect decision the definitely left an impact.
Tumblr media
Scarlxrd seemed an interesting choice for the lineup but his performance showed he can rock a crowd like any heavy rock act.  Calling for a bigger pit, he along with Jacky P, worked the crowd, joking around and screaming with every bit of energy he had.  Like any Aussie set, both guys were soon talked into doing shoeys much to fans’ excitement.  Much like Babymetal, Scarlxrd definitely would have left an impact on those checking him out out of curiosity.
Tumblr media
Tonight Alive then switched things back to pop punk with singer Jenna McDougall showing appreciation for being able to play in her hometown.  Fans sang lyrics back with enthusiasm and Jake Hardy’s guitar sounded great, Cam Adler and Matt Best worked perfectly together on bass and drums respectively.  Much like their Aussie tour earlier this year, Tonight Alive know how to get a home crowd excited.  The set ended with McDougall telling fans to crowd-surf to her, give security a hug then her a high five and fans naturally obeyed.
Tumblr media
All Time Low appeared to get the crowd really excited and singing every word.  While refusing to do shoeys (”Last time I did that, I was sick for two years.”) the band joked around on stage and did everything they possibly could to turn their set into one huge party.  Based on the number of people singing along, it worked.
Stone Sour were a fantastic edition to the lineup.  Corey Taylor has a lot of experience both at festivals and with performing in general and it shows.  Taylor worked the crowd and had them singing along.  Although many were sunburnt and sore at this stage, everybody joined in.
Unfortunately I have very little to say about Thee Offspring’s set as track work meant I left a bit earlier.  What I did see of their set was a fantastic mix of nostalgia, great rock and songs many know every word of.  Singer/guitarist Dexter Holland sounds no different to when he recorded Smash originally and the band played flawlessly.  Overall, it is the festival we really needed.  Taking aspects of past festivals and bringing together a great combination of unique acts.  Assuming they continue next year, go check Good Things out in the future.

My Unpopular Opinions of 2018
This is messy, a bit mean, and full of my mad/irritated feelings. You’ve been warned. No slipping into my asks as an anon to fight with me because I’ve posted this on my account. These are my opinions and I’ve already said that they aren’t that nice to some shows
1) Charmed and Black Lightning are the only good CW shows and it has the best lesbian rep of 2018 (and Rosa from b99 would be the best bisexual rep)
2) Melanie Scrofano/Wynonna Earp is the best part of Wynonna Earp. Honestly lately the rest of the characters for me have either awful or boring or funny but given nothing to do
3) Also even though she’s the main actress, Melanie is somehow the most underrated actress/character in the show. She’s disregarded by so many fans, either in favor of Wayhaught or Doc, and the show treats her like shit by constantly putting her with Doc
4) Descendants fans who pit Dove Cameron and China Anne McClain against each other in the hopes of making the other seem superior are doing absolutely nothing for their careers and are contributing to the unnecessary comparison between successful women
5) Also I don’t care if you don’t like Dove Cameron, but hating her for that Mal/Harry comment she made months ago is so fucking ridiculous. She’s a girl in love who also loves her character, god forbid she make her own headcanons for it, and it wasn’t like she was asking for it to happen (and no she wasn’t disregarding Mal’s current relationship Ben because she was talking about Mal and Harry being exes god damnit)
6) I can’t believe i have to say this in 2018 BUT STOP WITH THE INCEST STORYLINES! IT AIN’T CREATIVE OR SURPRISING BITCHES JUST GROSS
7) ALSO STOP SHIPPING INCEST GOD PLEASE STOP
8) Timothee Chamalet or whatever his name is, isn’t that great. Like he’s fine I guess but like....Have you seen other actors? I mean, there’s Fady Elsayed, Jack Black, Jordan Renzo, Greg Austin (rip Class), and so many more actors that are, in my opinon, significantly more talented
9) Letterkenny and Galavant are the best comedies out there
10) Riverdale is shit for erasing Jughead’s asexuality and queerbaiting fans at the beginning with Beronica
11) I’ve said this before, but people disliking Cole Sprouse because of the abuse allegation against him is incredibly valid.
12) Mike Flanagan, Jordan Peele, and Kate Siegel are the only people I trust to write some bone chilling horror stories
13) The Haunting of Hill House is better than American Horror Story and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrine combined
Now it’s time to get serious.....
14) I have no respect and cannot get along with people who talk about how ugly people are
15) The hellsite is shit for so many reasons but some of its worst qualities are when people take a situation and make it black and white, have zero sympathy or empathy for other people, and twist peoples words and put in meanings that were never there
16) I also hate how how people only care about mental illness when it doesn’t come to their jokes or memes. For example, mental health has been talked about a lot in regards to Ariana Grande, which is good, but once her engagement with Pete Davidson ended, no one hesitated to attack him in almost every way possible even though the man has been very outspoken about his depression. I don’t know shit about Pete Davidson but I’ve seen him relentlessly be attacked and have his depression and suicidal thoughts be joked about.
17) Stanning is a fucked up culture that we need to leave behind in 2018. There are some celebrities who have a lot of projects that I love and I admire their talent, but the concept of stanning either includes an unhealthy amount of devotion to a celebrity or it erases them as a human being and reduces them down to objects. In some cases, both of these are true. It’s a sick thing for both fans and the celebrities. If a celebrity does something wrong, call them out, and if they don’t listen, well forget it or move on. Cancelling them as if they can be thrown in the garbage and disposed of promotes negativity and hatred, which is doesn’t solve anything, and it can inhibit any growth from that celebrity. They are human and will inevitably fuck up. It’s the only way to learn and grow.
18) This is about Wynonna Earp but it’s a serious post. I’ve made my thoughts about this show abundantly clear but there is one thing I haven’t talked about at all and that’s the racism in the show and in the fanbase. Disclaimer: I am white. This show hasn’t treated any of their poc or black characters well. The latest example would be the treatment of Dolls and Kate. The last two seasons Doc has had two women of color as his love interests, and both of these characters have been treated as objects to make Wynonna jealous. There is also the lack of story and villainization of these women. There is also the major lack of story with Dolls, which most likely led to Shamier Anderson’s decision to leave. I won’t get into anymore, this is how I’ve always viewed these poor storylines, but I will say this: white fans of Wynonna Earp, we do not get a say on how black viewers should feel about any of these storylines. White lesbians, you would be livid is Waverly or Nicole were killed, and rightfully so. Black people or people of color probably felt the rage you would’ve felt if you lost one of those characters when Dolls was killed off. Telling people to get over it is cruel. If people want to stop watching, that is their right. We have no place in telling them how they should feel about the treatment of their representation.
19) I made this post a while ago but it holds true: https://uhhhhhhokay.tumblr.com/post/179314393735/shows-with-good-lgbt-rep
20) Everyone needs a break from social media. I know that for some people, it really helps because we have friends on here that we can talk to, but it also has so many negative effects. The real world is nothing like this toxic website. You should take breaks from it every once in a while. You need to get hobbies. You need some other past time than this website. The majority of people on this site aren’t good and everyone should take a breather from it. I take breaks from this site on a regular basis and when I do it feels so fucking good.
21) Random but The Lodgers is the worst movie ever and it’s an even worse horror movie. Would not recommend. Unless you feel like roasting something for an hour and a half. The only good part about watching that movie was that I watched it with my roommate who I am good friends with and we laughed our asses off and made fun of it so much. It is truly awful. Even though I had a blast roasting it, I will never get that time of my life back.
22) The Last Jedi does not deserve that 91% on rotten tomatoes. Just like how The Lodgers deserves far less than 56%.
23) Time to get serious again. I get that a lot of us wished that the shows we loved were real, but they aren’t. That’s a fact that everyone needs to realize and accept. To me, hating an actor for their character’s actions is just as fucked up as stanning. They aren’t their character. They are not responsible for the shit their characters pull. They are carrying out the story written for them. As for writers, sometimes the writers do not support their characters actions either. Just because the character is evil or mean or whatever does not always mean that the people who work behind the curtain support that.
24) Shipping real people and harassing them is sooo inappropriate and messed up. I shouldn’t really have to explain this one but too many people on this site don’t seem to grasp it. I mean, didn’t Harry Styles say a while ago that all the smutty fanfics, tweets, and fanarts about him and his bandmates effect his friendships with him? Him reacting that way is not homophobic, btw. It is him reacting naturally to people fetishizing and sexualizing him and his friends. These are real people. Their relationship, sexuality, and god just so much of their lives is none of our business. They don’t owe us any information about their personal lives. We don’t own them. They are their own people, which also means that they make their own mistakes.
25) Random again, but original Charmed fans put their show too high of a pedestal. I never got really into show. I tried it, think I watched half of the first season, and I did a little research on it and I was in the fanbase for a hot sec but it was very short. From my research, it seems to me, that for a feminist show, the cast (except Shannon Doherty) was the opposite behind the scenes. I know you can’t help who you don’t like but you can control how you talk about someone, especially to the public, and from what I’ve seen there’s been more negative comments from them about their castmates than positive. I don’t think anyone will know the whole story but to me the feud between the og’s leading ladies has always very catty to me, and it’s gotten even worse with the remake. You can be protective of your show without being rude. You don’t have to support the remake, and you can do that without being rude either. By the way, this is more directed towards Holly Marie Combs, who I believe has been the most outspoken about being against it. Three young actresses are doing the job they love and they were given a chance to be the new charmed ones for a new generation. There is no reason to be so negative about it. It looks even more immature when you see the cast of the original Sabrina who gleefully gave their support to the new cast.
26) Adults please stop thinking every show is for you. it’s not. Some shows are for kids, some shows are for teenagers, and some shows are for you. If you enjoy the show that’s directed towards a younger audience then that’s great. If you don’t enjoy it, then that’s fine too. What is not fine is you acting like that show was meant for you and tearing it apart and bullying people of that directed age group online. I can’t believe the amount of times I’ve seen some 19-40 year old dipshit on the internet go and bully a 15 year old only because they said they loved a show. That is not only sick and immature but it’s uncalled for.
27) Also 15 year olds or younger, do not use your age as an excuse to be mean either. You might be young and you will definitely make huge mistakes, but there’s is nothing to justify you telling someone to kill themselves or insulting them just because they don’t like your favorite character or something. You might not be as experienced as some adults, but you’re old enough to know what the fuck you’re doing and how wrong it is. Don’t be cruel and blame it on you being young and stupid. You maybe young and all of us will always be a bit stupid, but that does not excuse your behavior. And @ older people who do that shit too, your older age and power does not excuse your cruelty either. Nothing excuses telling someone to kill themselves. Ever. Especially if it’s over a goddamn tv show.
28) Can Ryan Murphy please just make one tv show and stick with it until it ends? He has so many great concepts but because he wants to do all of them at once they all go downhill after one season.
29) On the same but different note, fuck Ryan Murphy for having Violet and Tate get back together. My girl deserves better than a serial killer/rapist that also got her mom killed because he impregnated her with the anti christ. Fuck that.
I never intended this to be so long lol no one will read this
30) The Hormone Monster is literally a metaphor for hormones. Stop twisting it into pedophilia. That show is so sex positive and is so much better than most of the sex ed that we got.
31) Let’s leave monster fucking behind please
32) Puzzles are a treat to do
33) Funko pops are cute but they make a lot of dumbass decisions regarding which ones to make (like I saw pops of that new nutcracker movie a while before it was released like maybe wait and see how it does first????)
34) Also lets stop thinking of ships/shows as a way to up yourself as more progressive or whatever. We all have our trash shows and ships, stop acting like a saint. Just because someone has a trash ship, does not mean they are lesser than you.
35) Fanbases are usually always trash. This didn’t change at all in 2018.
36) Class’s first season was significantly better than Torchwoods first season. You guys are just mean.
37) While I adore Class, Patrick Ness’s dialogue was really YIKES sometimes (the Charlie April deleted scene nearly killed me). Overall it was good though because it was the closest depiction of how teens speak.
38) Also any teen drama show that has a teen speak seriously in a hashtag should burn in hell (if a hashtag is used in dialogue as joke then it’s fine because it’s funny)
39) An actor being on a show you don’t like does not warrant hate
40) It’s been two years since Class but still, fuck the dw fans who were/are so mean to the class actors, especially Vivian Oparah and Sophie Hopkins.
I think that’s it.
