I don’t know if you follow kpop Did you hear about Johnny and associates 478 victims have come forward just makes me sick like it was an open secret that kids were being abused but now the company will be force to address it years after the scum died
Johnny's is Jpop, not Kpop, and yes I used to follow it closely when I was a teenager but not anymore since becoming an adult 😅 however, I've heard quite a few things about this scandal and it's deeply disturbing, especially the fact that it went on for DECADES (like, since the 80's if I'm not mistaken?). I wasn't much surprised though that the industry and the media knew about it but refused to expose it in fear of getting pulverized by Johnny Kitagawa. J&A is literally the biggest idol machine back then, and their practices have been known to be the most strict and cruel. they have leverage over everything, ergo several businesses and people are at their mercy.
it's truly sickening just reading the bits and pieces of the case. I have yet to watch the BBC documentary that broke the dam open earlier this year, but once I do, I'll post more about it. the only thing I can really say now is how awful it is that the old man who did all this is now rotting in hell before paying for the crimes he did on this earth.

Johnny’s* Boys
It’s not hip
Saving children
In a culture that’s shot
That does not protect at any stop
Djing djing
Rewind the abuse
Young boys will always sing
Spin the forgiving vinyl
But no one listens
Police didn’t hear media ignored
An inconvenient truth
Curated and controlled
Dream on boys!
Sex dolls to be bathed
Who is to blame?
Abuse that is craved
Its only rumours
The boys still sing Johnny’s praises
Their music mogul’s
Legacy of craze
Boys are vulnerable too
abuse by power is not new
How can these boys begin to heal?
their stolen innocence no minor ordeal!
Note: On the 8/9/23 Kitagawa's sexual abuse crimes against vulnerable boys was finally publicly acknowledged by Japan. Thank you brave hearts for coming forward hopefully you can now begin the healing process.

but the thing is bigshit is not a stable company. usually idc for stock market but their stocks are .. very up and down. they are relatively new and over-reliant on beets. only bc beets has to enlist they started to move resources onto creating new groups... if beets didn't have to enlist they wouldn't have to speedrun debuts. their obvious govt connections could be their downfall, like whygee easily buried their connections to impeached president but bigshit is involved in so many govt promo projects it's weird. it's strangeee. also remember that govt loves kboos bc they bring Moneeey. it's crazy also how they aquire company and talents from other places and pass them off as home-grown asset.......

do you think if japan investigated sexual abuse of japanese female idols after Johnny Kitagawa?
Hey! So, I'm not entirely sure what this question means but I'll try to answer it as well as I possibly can.
So, from what I understand there have been a lot of cases of attempted sexual assault and harassment towards female idols from their male fans, however I am not entirely certain there have been any investigations that have been brought to light regarding companies abusing their female idols sexually. That being said, up until recently the Kitagawa case was something everyone in Japan was aware of, they just chose to keep it under wraps so I can only imagine how many other cases of people in power abusing their subordinates sexually there are, taking in consideration the way Japanese society is set up, I don't doubt they will take time to come out as well.
Personally, I can only hope that everyone in that industry is being kept safe and sound, but I know that might just be wishful thinking.

Why is Japan redefining rape? (Tessa Wong & Sakiko Shiraishi, BBC News, June 07 2023)
"The Japanese parliament is now debating a landmark bill to reform the country's sexual assault laws, only the second such revision in a century.
The bill covers a number of changes, but the biggest and most significant one will see lawmakers redefine rape from "forcible sexual intercourse" to "non-consensual sexual intercourse" - effectively making legal room for consent in a society where the concept is still poorly understood.
Current Japanese law defines rape as sexual intercourse or indecent acts committed "forcibly" and "through assault or intimidation", or by taking advantage of a person's "unconscious state or inability to resist".
This is at odds with many other countries which define it more broadly as any non-consensual intercourse or sexual act - where no means no.
Activists argue that Japan's narrow definition has led to even narrower interpretations of the law by prosecutors and judges, setting an impossibly high bar for justice and fostering a culture of scepticism that deters survivors from reporting their attacks.
In a 2014 Tokyo case, for instance, a man had pinned a 15-year-old girl to a wall and had sex with her while she resisted.
He was acquitted of rape as the court ruled his actions did not make it "extremely difficult" for her to resist.
The teenager was treated as an adult because the age of consent in Japan is only 13 years - the lowest among the world's richest democracies. (…)
As part of the redefinition of rape, the new law explicitly sets out eight scenarios where it is difficult for the victim to "form, express, or fulfil an intention not to consent".
They include situations where the victim is intoxicated with alcohol or drugs; or subject to violence or threats; or is "frightened or astonished".
Another scenario appears to describe an abuse of power, where the victim is "worried" they would face disadvantages if they do not comply.
The age of consent will also rise to 16 years, and the statute of limitations will be extended. (…)
But the reforms address only one part of the problem, say activists, whose call for change stretches well beyond the courtroom.
Sexual assault is still a taboo subject in Japan and has gained national attention only in recent years in the wake of high-profile cases such as Shiori Ito's court battle, former member of the Self Defence Force and sexual assault survivor Rina Gonoi's public statements, and the Johnny Kitagawa expose.
Part of the problem, Kazuko Ito says, is that generations of Japanese have grown up with "a distorted idea of sex and sexual consent".
On the one hand, sex education is usually taught in a veiled and modest way, and consent is hardly touched upon.
And yet, Ms Ito says, Japanese children have easy access to porn where an all too common trope is of a woman enjoying having sex against her will."

who the phantom thieves would main in mortal kombat 11
characters: akira//ren, ann, makoto, ryuji, yusuke, futaba, haru
type: crackfic; headcanons
note: wow look at me actually writing something
joker;
johnny cage main !!
akiren doesn’t really care about the meta, he just plays johnny cage because he loves the character and how ridiculously over the top he is
even though he doesn’t particularly care about the meta, he still keeps up with all the changes and updates to stay on top of his game; has watched hundred of combo tutorials
spends hours unlocking all the special skins for johnny and makes him wear the most absurd-looking outfits out there
knows literally every special move, crushing blow, brutality, fatality you can think of
in terms of play style, he’s actually a really solid player ; he just can’t resist ending combos with johnny’s signature nut punch but that exact fact is what can make him predictable at times
has some absolutely disgusting combos that take out like 90% of his opponent’s hp and are borderline unblockable but avoids using them when he plays with the phantom thieves to keep the competition fair
he has completely mastered the flawless block mechanic which allows him to take minimal amounts of damage; he never uses it when he’s playing with the phantom thieves and sometimes even lets the them beat him or sets up little handicaps for himself to stop the matches from ending too early (like never using his fatal blow)
overall; solid 8/10 player ; knows most of the mechanics and how to actually use them; just needs to switch to a more meta character
ann takamaki;
jade main !!
garbage player; only knows about two things - 1) how you attack 2) how you block
uses jade only because of her unblockable overhead and spams that single move and occasionally pokes the opponent with her staff
has no knowledge about combos and the crushing blows that she does randomly execute mostly come from random button mashing until the character just does something
due to her lack of knowledge, she can’t take advantage of the the combo opportunities that jade’s aforementioned overhead
overall; horrible player 4/10; she only gets a 4 because some of the others are worse (yusuke) and because her random button mashing sometimes leads to combos and crushing blows by sheer luck (she’s managed to beat joker once)
ryuji sakamoto;
button smasher !! but he actually knows some combos and will occasionally use them when he thinks it’s necessary but can beat most people (i.e the phantom thieves and noobs online without using them)
speaking of noobs, he loves destroying them online
he doesn’t necessarily have a main and can play with most characters reasonably well but he does have a soft spot for scorpion
he gets absolutely destroyed by haru but so does everyone else so it’s not that embarrassing
overall; he’s a half decent player 7/10
yusuke kitagawa;
do i even need to write about him? he’s never held a controller in his life before and he keeps asking joker where the L1/L2 and R1/R2 triggers are every time they play
he can barely land a hit, much less pull off a combo
picked his character based on aesthetics, tries (and fails) to do moves that look aesthetically pleasing
randomly starts rambling about art during matches to the point where it’s incredibly distracting for the other person, i could go on and on
overall; 1/10 player because i don’t have the heart to give him a 0/10 rating
futaba sakura;
mains whoever is meta at the time but has a soft spot for subzero because he was the first character he learned how to play with
knows every character well, she can execute combines perfectly and use move their moves strategically
she has frame data memorised so that she can punish opponents
she’s the only one other than akechi who can actually challenge the phantom thieves
loves smoking noobs online
overall; 9/10 player, she’s good at pretty much every aspect of the game
makoto niijima;
cassie cage main !!
she loves pulling off a good combo, she didn’t think she would be very interested in a game that involved a bunch of button smashing (from her perspective at least)
it was only when she lost to joker the first time and she realised that there was a lot of strategy and execution of specific strings of command that she was truly interested
she ends up learning the frame data for all her main’s moves and most of the combos, she’s nowhere near the level of futaba in terms of knowledge but she knows quite a lot
she’s also very interested in the lore
overall; a 7/10 player and can beat anyone on a good day
haru okumura;
baraka main and by far the best player among the phantom thieves, she prefers characters that just smash their opponents and don’t require intricate set ups or traps (monke brain)
she doesn’t know any combos on any frame data, she just somehow know how to execute some of the most difficult combos in the game
sometimes the person playing against her looks over only to her with a little smile on her face as her character brutally mutilates their opponent
the only person among the thieves who can beat futaba when she’s being serious
overall; a 9/10 player and someone everyone should be at least a little wary of

OUTDATED POST
Last updated 8/18/23, please check the bracket posts for the most up-to-date competitor list.
Sorted alphabetically by game for easy searching.
These are (almost) all of the bracket participants! There are a few who are still up in the air. Please do not get upset with me if your blorbo did not qualify; I did my best to research each game I was unfamiliar with. The most common reason for a character to be disqualified was being from a game without any romance at all.
Note that some of these may be removed, as my attempts at research may not have been sufficient.

About Judgment: In short, I think RGGS was intending to continue the series. There were indeed rumors at one point that the series would end at Lost Judgment due to a disagreement with Kimura's agency, Johnny & Associates, about porting the games to PC--I'm unclear on why, there was speculation but I don't think it was ever stated. Obviously the PC ports are out now, so either that wasn't the issue or they moved past it. There's also just general disbelief around there being a third entry simply because there's this idea (joke?) that Kimura never does three of anything, which isn't true at this point. It is true RGGS historically hasn't done three of anything in terms of spinoff series (Kurohyou, Mobile+Kizuna, and arguably Kenzan+Ishin), but it's also true that none of their past spinoffs have been as successful as Judgment, and we're seeing a lot of "firsts" from the studio lately. The fact is that Yokoyama himself said something along the lines of "and of course, we won't forget about Judgment" (not literally, just the closest English expression I can think of that can be misinterpreted in the way I'm about to explain) while talking about future works. But for some reason, people took it as if he meant it "in mourning" rather than an obvious confirmation of more to come, I guess? A TV show was also announced, so I really don't get why they'd invest so much into a series they were going to end. I know Kurohyou got a show too, but this seems different. Anyway, that's the most recent information, but it's from some years ago. There is a major new development, however: J&A talents' contracts are being cancelled left and right as of the last couple of months due to the agency's dogshit handling of and response to an investigation into Johnny Kitagawa's serial abuse of allegedly hundreds of his talents. That's been going on since the man died in 2019, basically, but a lot's happened this year.
This has left the talents with the incredibly tough decision of either remaining at an agency that refuses to even change its name and is rapidly breaking down or leaving. It has historically been very difficult to do the latter. On top of what you'd expect, J&A controls their talents to an insane degree and has leveraged their control of the media to suppress the careers of those who leave.
Broadly, in terms of how media companies have responded so far, I understand not wanting to associate with J&A and that J&A would likely benefit from the contracts more than the talents, but it still feels like the talents are the ones being punished... I have to imagine at least some of them were victims, so to be victims of the blacklist on top of that... That, and some of these companies kept the truth from coming out for decades.
With J&A losing its foothold in the media, though, there may be no better time than now to leave the agency. I don't know if Kimura will--rumors have been circulating ever since his idol group were forced to break up years and years ago, but while they all went independent, he never has--especially because a lot of seniors like him feel a responsibility to stay and change the agency for the better. As of right now, I'm not aware of Kimura's contracts getting cancelled, so I can't say one way or another if that'd have an effect.
I don't know what happens from here. I'm not sure if RGGS will look at it as collaborating with J&A or with Kimura or both, and how they'll factor in what's going on right now into working with him. Hypothetically, it would be possible to continue the series even without Kimura (any of the other mains do or would make great protagonists), but at the same time, Judgment is hugely reliant on Kimura's charisma. That's why people who play the dub (or people who don't like Kimura) often come away with the impression Yagami's kind of a dick or doesn't stand out much.
So... that's the state of Judgment right now. We won't know until we know, I guess.
OHHHHH OK saucy... sucks about J&A- it'd be cool if yk. they could face the consequences of their actions LMAO but that Could involve displacing hella workers now wouldnt it
