So this looks like a good read. Text: after half a year of work, my academic zine on the history of antisemitism & appropriation in western occult movements is done 🖤 a 22-page PDF full of citations, illustrated with historic & public domain images, pay-what-you-want (or FREE!): https://ezrarose.itch.io/fyma-a-lesser-key
twitter thread
Update (not that anybody is looking at the original post anymore): I have now read this and it is, indeed, very good.
Also, the author/artist is here on tumblr! Check out @sheydgarden

Glasgolem, 2022
earlier this year i was honored to be asked to do the cover for issue #1 of Golem Zine, a series showcasing voices from lesser-known Jewish communities around the world. this first issue celebrated Jewish life & culture in Glasgow, and creating this cover involved a deep dive into the history of Glaswegian Jewish art & architecture.

This is a jewish tombstone
from a small hungarian village, Tuzsér. It is standing in the middle of litter, as the place of the jewish cemetery is nowadays used as a garbage dump.
Tumblr media
When I found this place, I knew I should include it in the zine that we created on the Art of Abandoned Jewish Cemeteries of Hungary, since we wanted to raise attention to the sad state of jewish cemeteries of the country. As it is visible by the blessing hands symbol, this tombstone belongs to a kohanite person, who is a descendant just like all other kohanites, of the high priests of the Temple.
What we can read at the tombstone is just a short line, which says Here lies the elderly Yehuda, son of Cvi Ha-kohen, died in 1906.
This is how it ended up eventually in the Art of Abandoned Jewish Cemeteries zine, the symbol was reproduced with lino cut and the surrounding text explains the symbols and share a bit about the history of the community of Tuzsér:

If you wanna support our project to preserve the memory of the former jewish communities of the hungarian countryside along with the cemeteries themselves, you can order from the zine here:

TikTok took this video down. I don’t want to sound paranoid, but maybe check the links before this video is taken down, too.

Hey guys, I'm excited to show off some snippets of the monster descriptions I've been writing for the 13 Days: Monsters & Myths zine! Here's the second one, about the shedim, mischievous and often malevolent creatures from Jewish folklore.
If you want to read the rest of it, and learn how to tell the difference between humans and shedim, check out @13daysadvent and buy a copy of the zine & advent calendar before August 2!

[image description: A horizontal rectangle. graphic. The background is half red tartan plaid fabric and the other half is gold glitter. The two textures are placed diagonally with the plaid fabric over the gold glitter a bit. On top, diagonal & in large yellow orange letters, in a font that is bold but looks aged, as if it was chipping a bit, it reads: issue #3]

SIX SONGS, 2017
a short zine illustrating a chapter of the Hechalot Rabbati, an ancient Jewish mystical text which describes—in gory detail—the dangers of listening to the angels singing around the merkavah (holy chariot). it features detailed pen & ink artwork drawing from both Jewish symbolic tradition (including panel borders inspired by antique Ashkenazi gravestone carvings) and a modern macabre visionary style.
incredible to look back at this one 5 years later! my first Jewish zine. folks' response to this really changed my whole creative practice & it helped me find my voice after almost a decade of artistic burnout.
still available as a free/pay-what-you-want digital download at itch.io, physical copies occasionally in my Etsy shop
