In an attempt to finally finish this, I am posting the wip here (it's been over a year pls let me finish this pls). Maybe if more than just like two people know of its existence, I'll finally finish this and fill the "backstory" square on my guardian bingo card haha ;-;
#saw a couple other people post their wips today#hoping this can be like an accountability post for myself and help me find the motivation to finish it#also tho it was a mistake to choose to paint the entire kunlun mountain range in a realistic style#should've zoomed in on that central bit and painted it in my super loose and childish and FAST watercolour style instead akfkfkfk#no but originally i was gonna use this as the cover to bind a copy of the novel for myself before the official translation was announced#so the size of this made sense for that and i wanted the cover to look nice so. realistic it was#and now we're in too deep#there's easily 30+ hours already put into this so i have to see it through now#anyways#jay jabbers#art wip#i will never paint a mountain again after this akdkfkd

Pick Your Poison (choose your own adventure whump)
Perhaps this wasn't the best idea. You had just gone for a walk, but as you did things started to get weird. The full moon illuminating the streets, but just barely, as there weren't any houses or streetlights that you could see nearby. It hadn't even been dark out when you started. You must have been going for hours, but no matter which way you went, you couldn't find anything that looked familiar to you. Perhaps it would be best to stop and take in your surroundings.
The street as narrow and unkempt, with just barely a sidewalk on either side before becoming engulfed in thick forest. The road seems to go on endlessly, but there has to lead somewhere, right? You just have to find a house or a car passing by to see where you've ended up. Sure, that could be dangerous, but is it worth the risk?
To your left, you see a narrow pathway that looks tramped down with leaves and branches that winds into the woods. You don't get service, but your phone does have a flashlight. Up until now you'd been trying to conserve battery. And getting lost in the woods sounds less than ideal. But this path looks very well traveled. And if you squint, you can see what vaguely resembled a building poking out of the tree tops far into the distance. But without knowing where you're going, could you even make it there in one piece?
To your right, across the street, there's nothing you can really make out aside from the dark woods. It's late and you must be tired though, because you could swear that every so often you see a faint glow moving between trees. It's not close, and very small. But maybe it is real? And if so… Is it a Person? There's no trail on that side, and there's no guarantee that if it is a person, they'd be willing to help. But on the off chance it is something, should you risk a look?

✨BLOG UPDATE✨
I've been having major issues with insecurity and perfectionism for a long ass time now but I'm tired of letting my fear control me. From now on I'll be posting anything that I write and feel like sharing. It will not be edited. It might not even be a canon scene in the story I'm writing it for or even part of a story at all but I don't care anymore. I'm so tired of caring.
I know I'm being unnecessarily blunt I'm just tired of the expectations I put on myself and I want to be clear that I'm giving myself the permission to be bad at writing so just be prepared for that or leave ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ like we're reverting back to 2014 fandom where we write for fun and we write free (little anime reference there) so yeah I'm embracing the cringe.
I'm also stopping my tag list. It should really only matter if I enjoy writing and am having fun. I'm not here to network so unless someone personally sends me an ask wanting me to tag them when I post whatever I won't be tagging anyone in anything anymore.
I will do better about answering asks about my characters/stories tho because I really do appreciate them and I want to tell you guys more about both. Previously I was letting fear of getting the words right stop me (and honestly I've been kinda exhausted/busy so there's that too) but no longer! So I’ll prolly be going through my inbox soon so be prepared for that.

I've seen so many posts about how Coriolanus is cold and calculating and a user first and foremost but like. y'all are forgetting that he genuinely cared about people. He loved his family fiercely, he had a best friend in school (Festus) and even seemed worried about him because of what Nero Price had done during the war to feed his family (the line, "Did you tell your best friend his crush was a cannibal?")
We see other instances of his compassion throughout, too. Even if you discount everything he ever did to protect Lucy Gray, even if you boil his affection for her down to infatuation and obsession, he cared about other people.
he had the capacity for kindness (shown many times with Lysistrata), for guilt (for Clemensia's encounter with the snakes and for how he ignored her after), for genuine sympathy (he nearly cried for Festus when his tribute died and he left the dais), for regret (over turning Sejanus in), for grief (Arachne, the Ring twins, Gaius, Sejanus—to an extent, we even witness the grief he still feels for his mother's death).
The entire book of tbosas is a constant example of his anxiety, as well.
Yes Coriolanus turns out evil in the end, but discounting his capacity for humanity and genuine warmth will only serve to make us forget that his tale is one of choice.
this was not predestined.
he wasn't born a monster; he was molded into something bitter, and tired, and scared, and shaped himself into something monstrous after. his descent was not a steady decline; it was full of moments where he nearly turned himself around! it was his feeling of obligation to his family's legacy that kept him on a dark, easy path.
Lucy Gray believed they were written in the stars, and the book comments that Coriolanus didn't truly believe in mysticism or destiny or anything like that.
Because Coriolanus made every possible choice he could to delay the inevitable: his own disgrace. He valued his image more than his morals, which is what eventually led to his first downfall and eventually his death. remember what Tigris said? about having to choose between those?
Well, Coriolanus did have a tendency toward greed.
