(You don't have to respond to this) I just wanted to say I agree 100% with you. I think fans of any sport, fans of tv/movie actors & actresses, and any other celebrity fall into this trap of believing that every famous person is our friend. Like they tend not to care about unless it for publicity and even if they do actually care about important issues, they cant or wont speak up due to the chance of being outcasted. And on the fans side we do get way to invasive into celebrity private lives

I think there are plenty of famous people who do a lot of good work for marginalized communities and do show up as allies in meaningful, genuine ways, and we shouldn’t assume that all shows of activism are purely performative! But in general I agree with you here.

We need to remember that the NHL in particular is a notably conservative-cultured sports league in just about all aspects (including conservative as in “unwilling to try new things” lol). Just as importantly we need to remember that, as with any celebrity, the versions of these players we are talking about and being fans about are not real. They are by and large characters that are crafted (with varying degrees of finesse lol) by PR teams and managers and media, and beneath all that is a flawed human person who is capable of all the same mistakes and harms as any of us. They are fallible.

In engaging with them as characters, we are going to project a lot of our own values and beliefs into the blank spots of what we don’t know about them, which is a natural human thing to do. And that isn’t inherently harmful. I think we all want to believe that most people hold the same moral codes as we do until proven otherwise. But especially in a league where many players lean conservative, it’s important not to conflate that projection with somehow “knowing” that they’re “one of the good ones” without them every actually making that clear. You are setting yourself up for heartbreak that way.

I think it’s okay to be an enthusiastic fan of players as long as you on some level recognize the difference between the persona and the person. It’s similar to how a lot of RPF fandom operates on the premise of like, discussing a slightly alternate universe where we politely remove the players wives and families (who are typically not celebrities or public figures and thus did not consent to be involved in these narratives) from the picture in order to write about romances between the public characters of the players, with the implicit understanding that most of do not us believe what we’re writing is real in a conspiracy theory sense. The particular type of fandom we do here is a peculiar kind of multi-layered thing, where we both focus primarily in our works and discussions on those fictionalized personas, while also trying to hold the real people behind them to account to improve the fucked-up culture of this sport. Those two things have to be held in tension, with nuance and a constant need to make judgement calls.

Like, a good example of this two-layers fandom approach is how when I talk about/cheer on Ovi, I’m talking about the character that he is in hockey culture and the hockey narrative and in fanon, not the actual man who is married with children and gets chummy with dictators. I don’t actually think that Ovechkin and Bäckström are in love or that he’s even a person I would get along with or find tolerable in real life. I’m engaging with a character. I engage with pretty much all other NHL-ers the same.

With Ovi and the whole Putin+Trump thing, I don’t find it as necessary for me to personally address or consider as, say, Jamie Benn’s transphobia, because I don’t think the fact of whether I personally (via absolutely no financial support at all) enjoy the persona of a famous Russian hockey player is anywhere NEAR an influential factor in the power those dictators hold. We’re at like six degrees of separation at that point. My five posts a week from watching a pirated Caps stream are such a drop in the bucket in Ovi’s influence and Putin’s that it doesn’t even matter at all whether I do it or not. Putin will continue to be a dictator regardless of whether or not I post gifsets of this hockey player.

But I also recognize that there are times and situations when dealing just with the fictionalization of a player isn’t enough, when it is necessary to step back and make commentary and critique about the flawed human person underneath because they are in a position of visibility and power, and their actions have great influence.

Setting that Ovi example aside, I think there’s an important, nuanced difference when it comes to players who are unapologetically and unreformedly racist, homophobic, transphobic, violent, etc. Because those players are harming people, directly. I’m not talking about players who just support awful politicians, I’m talking about those who explicitly express harmful, bigoted personal opinions from their own platforms or enact direct harm on others personally. When they do this, they are making people less safe, they are making this sport less safe for fans and for other athletes. This cannot be separated from the fame and praise given to their fictionalized personas, because continuing to laud and support and cheer for them directly enables their ability to be in a position of power and influence where they can personally harm people, with actions or with words.

So again, it is important to understand that the version of your favourite player you engage with in the act of most fandom is not a real person, but a character. It is also important to make principled judgement calls, based on your own moral code, as to when is the point at which you can no longer justify promoting and/or financially supporting that character because it means feeding into the influence and ability to commit harms of the real person behind it all. You need to know where the lines between it all are, and where you personally draw a line in the sand you won’t cross. Making the hockey community safer and more welcoming should always be your first priority, because getting to not prioritize that and instead “focus on just having fun” is a privilege only afforded to those who are already safe here.

Support those figures in the league and the sport who choose to use their massively influential platform in this league to go to bat for marginalized people, because you’re right, there is a risk of backlash that comes with that choice, and we (as in the broader many-faceted community of hockey fans) should try to positively reward and reinforce them taking that risk if we want to see more of it! It’s an important part of making this sport something that everyone (except bigots and abusers) can be a part of.

But yeah, it isn’t healthy to pretend that you have a knowing personal relationship with these famous people, or to put responsibility/trust for your emotional well-being into their hands when they don’t even know they’ve been given it. Parasocial relationships like that can really fuck you up if you get sucked too deep into them. Understand that you don’t know these people, and be prepared in advance to make some difficult choices if you don’t like it when they show you who they really are.

(And feel free to grieve privately about the outlet or fun thing or favourite character you lose if you decide you cannot support them anymore. That feeling of betrayal is real for you, and it is okay to feel it and work through it as long as you understand that it might not always be appropriate to focus on doing so publicly (an example of it being inappropriate to focus publicly on your feelings would be a white fan lamenting how sad it is for you personally that your fav turned out to be racist).)

Request: Can you do an imagine where you're a kindergarten teacher and Jamie Benn is your bf and he ends up surprising you while you're teaching and then he ends up teaching your class about hockey and you're in awee

“Okay class I need everyone to put their crayons away because it’s story time,” you said to your kindergarten class. You watched as the kids started to put their crayon away and move to the corner in your classroom you have set up with pillows and blankets so the kids can get comfortable for story time. Tommy, one of your students, was still coloring at his desk by the time the other kids moved to the story time area. He was a good kid but faced some issues at home and had some attention problems as well. You went up to his desk and crouched down to get to his level.

“Hey Tommy it’s time to put the crayons away because its story time” you said as you looked over and saw that he was drawing the Stars logo. Tommy was a huge Dallas Stars fan and an even bigger Jamie Benn fan.

“Can I just finish drawing this please Ms. Y/N” Tommy said and looked up at you with a sweet smile. You were just about to answer him when there was a knock at the door.

“Five more minutes okay Tommy,” you said with a smile before heading to see who was at the door. You thought maybe it would be the teacher in the classroom next door asking you for chalk or maybe to watch her class for a minute but when you answered the door you saw your large hockey boyfriend taking up most of the doorframe.

“Hey baby,” Jamie said with a goofy grin.

“What are you doing here?” you said and you came out of the classroom, pulling the door to be semi-closed behind you.

“I told you we were doing school tours for charity stuff, I just forgot to mention I was assigned your school. I just finished up with the group of kids I was assigned so I thought I would pass by and see what you were doing.” He said after giving you a small peck on the cheek.

“I was just about to have story time do you want to come in and tell them a story?” you asked.

“Sure why not,” Jamie said with a smile.

Jamie walked in and most of the class got excited, the one who was the most excited was probably Tommy. His eyes lit up light you had never seen before, he was in total disbelief.

“Jamie this is my student Tommy, he’s one of your biggest fans,” you said introducing Tommy to Jamie. Jamie knelt down to get to Tommy’s height and took a look at the Stars logo drawing “This is pretty cool” Jamie said with a smile.

“You can have it” Tommy said as he handed the picture over to Jamie.

“You have to sign it first,” Jamie said as he handed the picture back to Tommy “that way I can tell the rest of the guys who drew it” Tommy looked so excited as he signed his name and added his number 14 underneath. Jamie spent the rest of the class talking to the kids about hockey, answering all their questions patiently. You watched from the back corner of your class admiring how well Jamie was doing with the kids. He ended up sticking around the rest of the day and even helped you get the kids ready to go home, helping those who needed into their jackets.

“Hey Mr. Benn do you think I could play hockey one day?” you overheard Tommy ask Jamie after most of the kids had gone home for the day. It wasn’t unusual for Tommy’s mom to be late to pick him up so you just let him sit in your class and play games until she showed up.

“If you practice a lot and work very hard at school I’m sure you can play one day,” Jamie said. He was sitting next to Tommy, coloring together, as you got some work done at your desk. Tommy just nodded his head and went back to coloring. Tommy’s mom showed up shortly after and after forcing Jamie to promise to visit again they left with a smile plastered on Tommy’s face. Jamie helped you get your stuff ready and started walking you to your car.

“You were really good today, thanks for being such a great help,” you said as you grabbed his hand.

“The kids were awesome; it shows they have a really good teacher,” he said with a wink.

“Thanks:” you laughed. You guys walked in comforting silence until Jamie broke it.

“Let’s have one”

“One what?” you asked genuinely surprised.

“A kid?” He said and you stopped dead in your tracks. He just looked at you like it was so simple, he was so calm when he said it and confident that you couldn’t do anything but agree.

“Okay,” you answered and continued walking with Jamie hand in hand.

It’s disgusting that you’re going around starting baseless rumors about Jamie and Tyler being romantically involved when they are simply just friends. You are taking fan fiction and blowing it way out of proportion. I hope for your sake, nobody from their PR team sees the things you’re saying about them because that could lead to serious legal problems. Stop speculating about peoples sexuality. If they are anything but straight, they will come out on their own. But it’s disgusting that you are seriously saying they are romantic with each other when they are simply just close friends. People like you are the reason why they aren’t close anymore.

I never claimed that they were romantically involved. I am sure that they are legitimately close friends based on my source. My tea was that were sexually involved with my source having witnessed it/walked in on it at least one occasion. Maybe it was that just one time or maybe it was more- I don't know. I cannot give more details on a public site without jeopardizing my source but I know he is reliable based his relationship with them. I don't believe that either are gay but somewhere on the bi spectrum. I have had this information for at least 2-3 years and haven't spilled the tea because I respected their privacy. When Benn liked the transphobic video in February, it irritated me. Then I found the remarks he and Seguin made about the Sedin twins. I don't care about sex between two consenting adults. I do care about the hypocrisy and deflection. Don't be homophobic and an asshole.

For those of you who follow ColeyDoes Things on youtube may have seen her latest update "The BIGGEST fandoms on AO3". Getting the pleasant surprise of seeing Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin on the tumbnail got me so excited.

I always pictured the fandom of Hockey RPF as a niche on AO3. This fandom got me into tumblr, AO3 along with reading fan fiction all together. I've been part of this fandom for the last 8 years. Hockey in general is a big part of my life. I had so many thoughts, so much knowledge and for years it was the only fandom I read fanfiction for.

I am so excited to see it part of the 20 top fandom on a site like AO3. I didn't expect seeing this fandom so high up, and I'm honestly so excited seeing the video beacuse right now I'm 28 minutes in the video and she's going through place #15 and she still didn't get to HOCKEY RPF and I'm astounded and so excited. I can't wait to find out their placement on the top 20 fandoms. And all through the video I can't wait to see her reaction to the top ships and tags.

Seein in #12 SPORTS RPF and knowing that technically HOCKEY RPF should be under this umbrealla but in actuality HOCKEY RPF usually tagged only under HOCKEY RPF I'm shocked. I know how technically in the last year or so there was a booming in the romance genre of Hockey Romance Books, but I'm not quite sure what it did to the popularity of Hockey on AO3. Plus, hockey is well known as the least popular sport out of the major legues of North America so I am so surprised to see how popular it actually is.

Now after RAVING about the superiority of HOCKEY RPF VS. SPORTS RPF, apparently I was fundementally wrong and got dissapointed.

I was sure that AO3 seperated each and every "sport's field" RPF as a seperated entoty and not logged them together. Through the whole video I was waiting for the moment of the fandom I was so excited about being talked about. With each fandom she would look at the top ships and characters. Through watching the video I was debating with myself about the top 10 pairings. It's been a while since I looked up the exact list. So I was under no impression that Sidney Crosby/Evgeni Malkin would be the number one pair. But as for the others I debated with myself. Just for the fun of it the list I had in my mind who is based on my personal experience and on various post about the top main paieings of Hockey are:

After getting it out of the way. What happened in the video was- she read a bunch of pairing from different sports. Sidney Crosby/Evgeni Malkin was in fact the number on pairings. Which was extra impressive when you take into account the different feilds of sports. But in fairness it seemed like Hockey RPF was one of the OG Sports RPF with continued audience. And as for those two they had the benefit of playing with each other close to 20 years.

Patrick Kane/Jonathan Toews also made the list, at around number 5. It made me so happy. As someone who was a big reader for 1988 it made me so happy. Also Coley didn't know how to read Toews so she read it as TOE-EZ, and through my mind I thought "Patrick Sharp would be so proud". Also it rather fitting to accidently hit a major theme in many of the 1988 fics, especially the older ones.

She also had a big surprise to see Omegaverse as one of the main tags. As someone who adores omegaverse and specifically reading it with the context of sports RPF it didn't surprise me in the slightest.

It also made me really happy to see the second most kudoed fic being a Sidney Crosby/Evgeni Malkin wedding day fic. Especially because I know I put it in my marked for later list and there is a podfic version of it with 5 hours lengh.

Even though it wasn't to the extent that I wanted to, I still enjoyed the video and seeing even the mention of some major pairings who I read many fics about, gave me joy.

It started with a simple follow. You posted an Instagram photo of a rubber duck. You captioned it “What exactly is the fiction of a rubber duck? Tyler Seguin knows.”

It was probably the nerdiest thing you have ever posted. It went viral. The next morning, not only had Jamie Benn liked the photo but so did Tyler. Tyler also followed you.

Tyler liked photos back to the start of your account. Over three years worth. Then he followed you on twitter. Then snapchat.

The hockey fan in you went crazy. It wasn’t Steve Yzerman, but still. Not that he had any type of social media. The rational part of you was wary. You knew the stories. You’ve seen the photos. You wanted to believe, more than anything, that he wasn’t the fuck boy he appeared to be. But even rumors have some truth.

For months, you avoided meeting him. He offered tickets to home games and when you politely refused, he asked if you wanted to catch a football game or baseball game. You told him no, you weren’t a fan. But thank you anyway.

Then he took to twitter. Because he just wouldn’t give up.

His dogs were adorable and you would love to meet them. But you couldn’t shake the nagging thought that he wanted one thing and then you would be old news…and even more so, the one thing he wanted you wouldn’t give. Not until you were married anyway.

That was how you agreed to meet Tyler face to face for the first time. You told him nothing extreme. Just coffee.

Just coffee turned into coffee once a week.

Coffee once a week turned into dinner once a week, when he was in town.

Soon dinner once a week turned into dinner a couple times a week, coffee before practice and movies nights.

You weren’t dating, but you did go on dates. And Tyler was adamant that they were coffee dates, dinner dates, and movie night dates. In fact, the one time you referred to movie night as your weekly hang out with him, he got very upset.

“No (Y/N), we’re aren’t ‘hanging out’, it’s a date. If I wanted to hang out and watch a movie, I’d ask Jamie.” He was mad. Clearly. But his eyes, they didn’t show anger, they showed hurt. “It’s a date then.” You quickly agreed. You never wanted to see that look in his eyes again. So your hang outs became dates.

You knew you should have been honest from the beginning. But in the beginning, you thought you were just hanging out. He clearly thought differently. You didn’t want to hurt him. You cared about him too much. So, you did the only thing you could. You told him you needed to talk. You would tell him tonight.

To Ty: Hey, I have something I need to tell you. Can you stop by my place tonight? From Ty: Sure…everything OK? To Ty: Everything great.

The coffee dates would stop. The dinner dates would stop. The movie dates would stop.

Your heart would break. But he wouldn’t be strung along.

You were a nervous wreck all day. You dusted your entire apartment. Then you reorganized your kitchen. Everything was in alphabetical order by the time you finished. Then you organized your closet. Nice clothes, work clothes, workout clothes, then your casual clothes.

You were visibly shaking by the time Tyler made it to your apartment.

“(Y/N), you’re shaking. Are you sure your OK? Did something happen?” Tyler comes in and lets his bag drop to the floor. He pulls you into a hug. “Did someone do something?” “No. No, no one did anything to me. I’m OK really. Just, uh I have something I really have to tell you. And I’m not sure how you’re going to react.” You stutter out. “So, I’m a nervous wreck. I cleaned the entire apartment, organized the kitchen and my closet.”

“Are you moving away? Did you do something bad?” Tyler jokes trying to lighten the mood. “Because the only thing I can think of that would make you organize your closet, is well if you killed a man and wanted an alibi.” “I like you a lot.” You start. “That’s good because I like you a lot too,” Tyler says leading you to the sofa. “But I don’t know why that would make you a nervous wreck.” “Let me finish.” You say taking a breath. “I like you a lot and that’s why I can’t keep doing this. We’re different people.”

“I don’t see how that’s a problem? We’ve made it work this far.” Tyler says confused. “Look. I’m not having sex until I’m married.” You blurt out. You immediate cover your mouth. “That’s not how I wanted to tell you.”

“That’s what caused this?” Tyler asks with a smile. His eye sparkling. “(Y/N), that doesn’t change anything.” “What?” You all but scream. “What we have, it’s more than anything I’ve ever had.” He says. “And if you want to wait, then we’ll wait.”

You nod. Your worry fading away. Suddenly it all seemed so silly. You were so worried about his reaction and…wait a second.

“What do you mean we’ll wait?” You ask, his words finally setting in. “Well, you’re waiting until marriage. So we’ll wait.” Tyler says as if it’s the most normal thing in the world. “I figure we have about two years until we’re married. So I’m not really waiting all that long.” “Who says we’re getting married?” You ask. “Me. I do.” Tyler grins.

“You’re pretty sure of yourself.” You say with a raised eyebrow. “I am. Because I love you.” He says. “I have patience. I wore you down to agree to a date. I can do the same again.” “You might want to work on getting a girlfriend. Because last I heard you needed that in order to propose.” Now you’re just teasing him “I have one. You.” “I don’t remember agreeing to that.” You say pretending to think.

“Yeah, it was about ten minutes ago. It was super romantic. Candles, flowers, the whole nine. You said yes. Now you’re mine.” Tyler says wrapping his arms around you. “Forever, just as soon as I can get you to agree to marry me.”

“Oh really now?” You say laughing. All previous worry is gone. “Yes, really.” Tyler places a kiss on your nose. “I’ll ask every day until you say yes. Starting now.”

Sighing, I run my hands through my hair slightly pulling for what seems like the hundredth time in the past hour. The past couple months at work have been very hard on me and the troubles with my relationship have not helped. I have been dating Dallas Stars defence man Jordie Benn for the past three years and we have one dog together, Juice. Lately, Jordie and I have been under a lot of stress, the team has been underachieving HARD and I recently started in a higher position at work. This has been putting a massive strain on our relationship now that I barely ever see Jordie and when I do we are either fighting or not even talking. We fight mostly about me never being home when he is because of my work schedule or we fight about me saying the wrong thing about the team that sends Jordie off in a huff. Earlier I would have ran after him when he went downstairs to fix things but now I am so tired of fighting that I will just sit in the nook looking out the window wondering where things went wrong and praying that we would be able to fix this.

If you had asked me 4 months ago if Jordie were to propose would I say yes, and I would have told you in a heart beat. But after these past months of constant fighting and then the silent treatment, I don’t know if I could tell you I would have the same answer. I believe Jordie is it for me, and is the love of my life but I value myself too much to let Jordie treat me like shit and not do anything about it. Since Jordie and I started dating, my job had always been a touchy subject for him. I work at a book publishing company mainly reading manuscripts and meeting with authors to finalize their work. This requires A LOT of my time and that cut into the time I had with Jordie. During my time in the WAG’s room at the Stars games I noticed not many of the wives or girlfriends have careers and I think Jordie wanted that for me too. Well it was the opposite of what I wanted, I love my job and it brings me so much happiness and enjoyment with my adult life that I feel like I would go crazy not having it. Jordie wanted me to go to every single home game, be there to make him pre game dinners before every game, be able to take off on quick vacations when the team get time off, and spend his off days laying in bed. But that was not the case with me, I was focused on my job and furthering my career to see that was what Jordie wanted. I guess this was his breaking point and I was too tired to fight for us.

My assistant drops 5 more manuscripts off to my desk and informs me that they need to be read and briefed all for tomorrow’s meetings. I smile politely and she leaves my office closing the door behind her. “This is seriously what I need right now” I mutter to myself. Eyeing the clock on my desktop I see that it is 5:17 and remember that I promised Jordie that I would go to his game tonight. I was trying but as time was running out and I still had 3 manuscripts left I soon realized I have left Jordie down and once again picked work over him. Its 7:10 when I leave the office still having 2 more manuscripts to look over before tomorrow, figuring I will do it after the game and head to my car to race to American Airlines Centre to try and get to see some of the first period.

I check my phone for what seems to be all day to see 12 missed calls and 7 missed texts. 2 from Jordie, 4 from Jamie, and 1 from Katie (Jamie’s girlfriend). I panic thinking that Jordie was hurt during the game and quickly look at the Jordie texts.

I got traded. Now this is when my world flipped upside down and I stare at the three words that make me want to vomit.

I have to leave for Montreal tonite, call me when u get this. Jordie sent me that at 2:30 THIS AFTERNOON. I can’t breathe while I dial Jordie’s number hoping he hasn’t left yet.

“Hi you have reached Jordie, I can’t get to answering your call right now, but if you leave a message I will be sure to get back to you as soon as possible.” FUCK I scream tears brimming my eyes.

I open Jamie’s texts next.

Jordie flies out at 7. Was the last text I received from the Benn brother. I don’t bother looking at Katie’s text I just head in the direction of Jordie and I’s house. Speeding, tears streaming down my face I get to my house in record time. Jordie’s truck is gone, lights off, the house looks dead, abandoned and I don’t get out of my jeep right away. Hoping and praying that Jordie for some reason is still here and not on a plane moving away from me, to a different country.

I can’t bring myself to open the door of my jeep I just sit there crying, wondering why this happened to Jordie and I. Finally after what seemed like 10 minutes, I slowly get out of my car and head to the front door. I can hear Juice whining from behind the door already so when I open the door he runs circles through my legs.

“Hey buddy.” I reach down to pet him and he ends up jumping up to give me a kiss. All the lights are turned off in the house except one over top of the sink in the kitchen. It illuminates the paper left out on the counter and I feel myself being pulled toward the kitchen. I take a deep breathe when I see Jordie’s terribly, scribbled handwriting filling the page.

My hands tremble as I go out to grab it and slide down the counter, my bum hitting the floor and immediately being swarmed by Juice before he figures out I am okay and sits beside me.

Dear Ellie,

I can not imagine whats going through your head right now. (Same here Jordie I think) By the sounds of it, your phone was turned off all day at work and you were heading to the arena to find out that I have been traded. Or you worked late and are now shocked to find this. Either way I hope you come to terms with what happened because I don’t know when I will. I’m looking around at the life I have in Dallas and in the matter of a phone call it has all been taken away from me. The past couple months have been rough on both of us and I take full responsibility for that El. I resented you because you had something that was other then me. I only have hockey and you and for one of my things to almost be taken away from me was a hard pill to swallow. Yes I wish you worked less but I will have to get over that if I want to be with you.

I wish I knew what you were thinking Ellie so I could help you cope in a way. I know your job is super important to you, mine is too. But you are the most important thing in my life and it took me being traded to figure that out. I cannot ask you to give up your job because as much as I love you, I don’t know if I would be able to do the same for you. Yes that is very hypocritical, yes I just said you were the most important thing in my life and then said I would choose my job over you. But this is where I am at right now. I want the best for you in life and if that means us separating ways I will have to deal with that. I want to be selfish and ask you to give up your job and everything in Dallas to come with me but what kind of person would I be if I did that? A terrible one? YES.

I know I am all over the place in this note but well I can’t even seem to think straight. I am somewhat hoping that this is all a dream or I am being punked but Ashton Kutcher hasn’t came out yet and my flight leaves way too soon.

But I leave you with this. Montreal could be a city for us where we could both start over. In Montreal, I am not Jamie Benn’s brother or the bearded Benn brother. In Montreal, I will be Jordie Benn, defence man for the Montreal Canadiens. I will be writing my own story with one of the most historic franchises ever. We could start over, leave all the shit of the past months behind us in Dallas and sell that house because to me it was never a home. We could find a real HOME in Montreal, one that we love and we build together and Juice could run around in. We could start our family there and you could find a job there that is better then the one in Dallas. Hell baby you could start your own publishing company, I will help you. Give us another chance and I will PROMISE until the day I die that I will show you and tell you how much I truly love you everyday and that our love is worth so much more then what we have been going through.

I also need to tell you this. Stay in Dallas, keep Juice, keep the apartment, I don’t care and live out your dream with this job. You worked so hard to get there and I don’t resent you for a second for choosing your job over me. If this is what your leaning towards, please do not let me slow you down or hold you back from your dreams and the endless potential you have. I’m sure you will find someone that will give you all of your dreams that I couldn’t. I know there is someone out there that can do this for you Ellie. I KNOW because I thought I was that person, but if the last few months were any indicator I realized I am not. I am the most selfish person when it comes to my life and you are the complete opposite. I treated you like shit the past months and I am forever sorry about that and I completely understand if this is the end of the road for us.

I love you more then you know.
