Think then act? When there's something you want, better to act without thinking than thinking without acting. The saying "act without thinking" can often have negative connotations, suggesting impulsiveness and recklessness. However, in certain situations, it can be more beneficial to take action than to spend too much time overthinking. When it comes to pursuing something you want, whether it be a job opportunity, a new relationship, or a personal goal, it's natural to have doubts and fears. But if you spend too much time analyzing and contemplating, you may miss your chance altogether. Sometimes, taking action and putting yourself out there is the only way to make progress. Even if you fail or face rejection, you'll learn valuable lessons and gain experience that can help you succeed in the future. On the other hand, overthinking can lead to paralysis by analysis, where you become so overwhelmed with options and possibilities that you end up doing nothing. This can be especially true when faced with tough decisions or complex problems. In such cases, it's often better to trust your instincts and take action, rather than getting stuck in a cycle of overthinking. Of course, this doesn't mean you should act recklessly or without consideration for the consequences of your actions. But sometimes, it's better to take a calculated risk than to miss out on an opportunity altogether. In the end, it's important to strike a balance between thinking and acting, and to find an approach that works best for you in different situations. . . . . . . . . . . #overthinking #overthinker #selfconfidence #selfreflection #shewrites #jamaicanwriter #jamaicanauthors #writerscommunity #naijawriters #writerscommunityofinstagram #amwriting https://www.instagram.com/p/Cp5OXEJOz_k/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

There are times when I like to hold on to my loneliness, sometimes I do all I can to ensure others do not intrude. Loneliness has been there since I was young, loneliness is what remained during all my tough times, sometimes during my best times too. She has been my constant. I've learned to embrace her, to protect her, the same way she protects me.

“Do something today that your future self will thank you for”
I have been wondering what I’m doing with my life and what my next step will be ever since 2018 started. The crazy thing is that even though I know what I want and how to get there, sometimes I feel like I’m not seeing the results I want.

#Repost @caribbeanautobiography (@get_repost) ・・・ Looking forward to reading this new book from @akashicbooks review from the NYT: The complex relationship of black people to their own skin — how it has affected freedom, rights, privilege, safety, opportunities and self-worth — has been central to our experience for generations. The first slave ships arrived in America in 1619, as the recent New York Times Magazine project so powerfully recounts. But the first slave ships arrived in Jamaica in 1517, 502 years ago. In her new novel, “A Tall History of Sugar,” the Jamaican writer Curdella Forbes uses skin as a prism to examine color, race, colonialism, heritage and — most important — love. #jamaicanwriter #caribbeanliterature #magic https://ift.tt/2sOPuUF Follow #ADPhD on IG: @afrxdiasporaphd

It's that time of night again. Where I think about all the things I did wrong and all the things I shouldn't have said and how I said them. How irrelevant these words all now seem, all these feelings that drummed up a stomach of dread and weariness. All this movement that seemed to have taken me nowhere but back to my standstill and pointless day dreams. The trickery of it all is what fascinates me most. The skewed idea that I have grown in some way, accomplished something, was right in the way I yelled or didn't yell. Was justified in my tiredness or overbearing need to do everything I need to do all at once; a silly attempt to try at what only makes me more tired at night fall. Night fall that brings malice more than comfort when my luck has worn itself; a cracked mirror of my own wavering spirit. This same night, that comes over and over and over again.
