random warcross headcanons pt. 2
emika is a boba addict—she always is looking for new flavors to try
at some point after wildcard, emika and annie pattridge (the girl emika was friendly with in high school, who was involved in the incident that led to emika’s criminal record) happen to cross paths randomly at an event, and the two become close friends
roshan has tried at least six different instruments, but he is best at the viola and often does recitals for his family
hammie is good at hip hop dance, and she and her dad have one-on-one dance competitions together in their free time; brooke and her mom cheer on the sidelines
after wildcard, tremaine makes sure to visit his mom at rehab more often and talks to her about anything important going on in his life (he talks a lot about roshan and emika)
asher was/is terrible at chemistry, and he got his worst grade ever in that said subject
it takes a while for emika to come out to the phoenix riders about her criminal record, but when she does, asher almost passes out in disbelief (because he’s an overdramatic dumb dumb (affectionate))
emika is an excellent seamstress and painter—she became obsessed with these hobbies after her dad passed away, since she wanted to keep any part of him she could
asher (and daniel) has younger twin step-sisters from his mom’s new husband’s side; he enjoys babysitting them sometimes
while under house arrest, hideo learns how to cook emika’s favorite dishes, as well as new ones she can try
asher has a pet golden retriever named ‘duke’ and a goldfish named ‘finny’
hammie and brooke are two years apart, and they fight relentlessly when within a meter of each other; hammie gets extremely annoyed when brooke borrows her clothes and has even locked her bedroom before to prevent her from taking any more clothes
jax likes italian soda pops and carrot cake

A Good Sequel That Did Not Ruin the Series
I was afraid of getting into Wildcard because of how much I loved Warcross. Who hasn't been burnt by a disappointing sequel to a series one loved, right? And honestly, that was my thought through the first third of this book. I felt the storyline was moving so slowly and going nowhere. There was no plot or character development and the lack of action seriously began boring me. Not that I hated it while going through the first third of Wildcard but I was not exactly fascinated by it.
In spite of that, it was a relatively easy book to breeze through or in other words, an easy page turner. I guess it is because the plot was going nowhere and the only way I could get all my questions answered was to read on.
However, the minute my questions started to get answers, the flow of Wildcard just went over the roof. So much was happening within a short span of time and if not for the kind of action needed in this kind of story, it would be too much. Furthermore, I could tell Lu was having the time of her life with the plot twists, they came at every few chapters it was a little hectic.
All in all, I had fun with Wildcard. Lu structured the Warcross duology really well and it was extremely evident once I finished this book. Reading these two books gave me a feeling that this story was created from the ending as in Lu thought of her ending before she moved backwards towards the introduction in Warcross. I am not saying that was exactly what happened during the process of creating this duology but that was what I felt.
Ending this review with a deep sigh, will we get a movie adaptation for Warcross and Wildcard? I mean, if it was written right and well (with the assistance of Marie Lu on the side), I can see the movies becoming big.
