How exactly does anti's strings work? Are they actually strings? Do they seep and embed into the puppet's body? Does it work when you cut them short and still be able to manipulate from afar wirelessly?
i always assumed they were either literal in the sense of him controlling JJ in that one video-up to metaphorical like manipulating you to do something he basically told you to do. I feel like they kind of live under your skin until Anti needs them to be physical.
I feel like if you cut them, depends- if the puppet is basically a corpse, you are pretty much just cutting off Anti's way to use it.
However if the strings are the only thing keeping that person alive? Different story. Its like unplugging life support
Strings don't need to be visible in order for one to be a puppet, ya know~

Thunder
Read on AO3!
A/N: I wanted to play with my deaf Jackie headcanon in a PhantomHero context, and @iamvegorott gave me the idea that maybe Jackie's afraid of thunder.
-
“Jackie?” Phantom waled through the door and frowned at the darkness of the house that greeted him. He shrugged off his jacket, shaking the rain off him before setting it aside to dry, then headed into the house in search of Jackie.
Thunder boomed outside, flashes of lightning lighting the house at intervals and illuminating the abandoned dinner setup in the kitchen. Phantom lifted the lid of the pot on the stove, pulling a face at the smell of burnt curry, and his heart dropped with the thought of how disappointed Jackie would be.
“Sweetheart, where are—” he was cut off by the sound of whimpering, broken by gasps when lightning flashed. Following the sounds, Phantom found Jackie in the bedroom, huddled in the corner with his knees hugged to his chest.
Quietly, carefully, Phantom moved to crouch beside Jackie, hesitantly reaching out to touch his hand. A brief glance told him that Jackie wasn’t wearing his hearing aids, implying he had taken them off while cooking and the thunderstorm had caught him by surprise.
When Jackie flinched at another flash of lighting and rumble of thunder, Phantom gently tapped his hand in a comforting pattern, waiting for him to look up before giving him a smile. He lifted a hand, holding it toward Jackie’s head, then waited for Jackie to nod before cupping his hand over his ear, closing his eyes and pressing his forehead to Jackie’s.
“Are you alright?” he whispered, using his powers to make his hand into a makeshift hearing aid, waiting for Jackie to nod and his breathing to even out before continuing. “I wasn’t expecting the storm either, or I’d have come back home sooner to look after you.”
“I’m a hero, and I’m scared of thunderstorms,” Jackie berated himself, moving his hands to grip Phantom’s upper arms tightly. “The lightning and the vibrations are too unexpected, and they catch me off guard.”
“I know, honey,” Phantom whispered, slowly guiding Jackie to stand so they can sit on the bed. “But being afraid doesn’t make you any less of a hero. Things happen unexpectedly, and there’s no way to prevent it.” He waited while Jackie curled into his side, flicking on the bedside lamp and pressing Jackie’s hearing aids into his hands.
“I’m real grateful that you’re here,” Jackie whispered, tucking his aids into his pockets and resting his head against Phantom’s chest, letting the gentle thump of his heart soothe him. He hummed as Phantom started running his fingers through his hair, pulling the blanket up over them and leaning back so they were more comfortable.
“I’ll be here always,” Phantom replied quietly, knowing Jackie could sense what he was saying. “I’d never abandon my favourite hero, not when he needs me in a thunderstorm.” He smiled when Jackie nuzzled closer to him, closing his eyes and listening to Jackie’s breathing.
“I burnt dinner,” Jackie whispered tearfully, making Phantom chuckle.
“I’m not hungry.”

unhinged thought posting but Anti's apology video would be
"so I heard a lot of you puppets have been listening to some information released at the local iris facility, and I'm here to say that I DO NOT kill people, that is my least favorite thing to do. The security camera footage is clearly under dim red lightning, and I would imagine such a thing would be hard to tell what was going on. That glitchy blurred image was not me and I encourage you please, don't believe anything they tell you....

Anti just smiling sweetly and telling the viewer his only target was Chase! He's the one who killed the guards! He was a danger to himself, Anti was there to save him. The light behind him flickers and an image of Chase appears, dangling by strings.
Anti's head tilts and he smirks, asking if we saw something before going back to 'apologizing'-
