“We wanted to pay Wanda the respect of taking her mental health seriously. We had a grief counselor come and speak to the writers of the show, which was really helpful making the story of Wanda's pain.” - Jac Schaeffer
“In a negative way, Wanda Maximoff could be distilled into female hysteria. But the way I like to think of her arc is through mental health. We’re in this amazing time of embracing mental health, and it becoming less taboo to use the language of depression, panic and anxiety.” - Elizabeth Olsen
“She has to choose between this false world she's created, and the safety and happiness of innocent people. And Wanda Maximoff is, in her core, a hero.” - Jac Schaeffer
Meanwhile, in the writers room for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness:
"All of WandaVision, we get to see her go bad, as the best villain ever, the Scarlet Witch. [...] I had a strong perspective on making her a villain from the get-go. [...] 'Why are we letting some other movie get the best villain ever?'" - Michael Waldron

Yeah, see the disconnect there? 🤔 Watching the Scarlet Witch episode of MPower out now on Disney Plus, it's honestly just sad seeing Elizabeth Olsen and the writers of WandaVision discussing how they wanted to provide a nuanced and sympathetic treatment of Wanda’s mental health, and avoid certain sexist tropes that have long plagued Wanda in the comics, only for Multiverse of Madness to play these sexist tropes straight. 😡🙄
Did Netflix Heartstopper ever use girl in red for its soundtrack? Or am I imagining that?
Anyways, not me restarting Heartstopper, lol. Joe Locke and Kathryn Hahn were in Westview Mall on set of what is apparently now being called “Agnes of Westview”—it’s just like the 2021 Infinity Comic—and I’m losing my sh!t.
“‘witches’ road’ we looked at quite a bit for the visuals of power, women and witches, my memory is there were some of those up on the wall that had to do with the finale.” — jac schaeffer on using the scarlet witch comic “witches’ road” as inspiration for scenes in wandavision
I mean, it's a Marvel movie, so it has been meticulously and painstakingly engineered to be, y'know, pretty good I guess? Gotta say, though, those bits where the crude CGI approximation of Scarlett Johansson was doing flips on the crashing air fortress made me feel terrible for the poor sods in the Disney animation sweatshops.
In 2021, Jac Schaeffer, creator of the Marvel streaming series “WandaVision,” told Total Film magazine that the show — in which magical heroine Wanda Maximoff, a.k.a. the Scarlet Witch, accidentally traps an entire town in her grief-fuelled fantasy after a mental breakdown — would not be a sexist portrayal of a powerful woman.
“It was extremely important to me that we not do the lazy thing of having a superpowered lady who can’t handle her powers and goes crazy,” she said.
Patti LuPone estará junto a Kathryn Hahn, Joe Locke y Aubrey Plaza en 'Agatha: Coven of Chaos'.
ok listen. i fundamentally believe MCU Wanda and Vision are gonna get back together and maybe it's delusion but ALSO i do not believe that Jac Schaeffer would give us "we'll say hello again" AND a show about Vision's memories (where I feel like we're gonna get more stolen moments flashbacks) just to end it with... yeah, doesn't this retroactively make Infinity War so much sadder? :/
I BELIEVE she is setting them up to either get back together at the end of Vision Quest or she's doing so much groundwork for them that they can get together in a .5 second scene in a team up movie without it needing really any set up
she's just said SO MUCH about not wanting to throw unnecessary trauma at them and i have decided to believe her
