‘tis my birthday today (it’s gotta be one of the worst birthdays to have, we don’t need to talk about it) anyways that’s where this is coming from

(also i’m not trying to imply that jan 1 is eddie’s bday. i wouldn’t wish that on anybody. besides, he is def a weirdo february aquarius)

The second half of the calendar year is nothing short of pandemonium for Eddie and Steve and their three daughters.

Moe’s birthday in late July kicks it off, almost immediately followed by Steve’s birthday in early August, then Hazel’s in September. Robbie’s birthday comes mere days after Halloween, and from there they dive headfirst into the bedlam of the holiday season.

Much to Eddie's relief, they all made it to yet another New Year's Day, and while the girls are definitely feeling the end-of-winter-break blues, Eddie welcomes the reprieve in festivities, brief as it may be.

His own birthday is up next – though not for another month.

He’s really not a birthday kind of guy. Never had been.

He loves making birthdays exciting for Steve and their daughters (they have a whole slew of traditions and everything – there’s names spelled out in pancakes involved; it's a very big deal), but his own…not so much.

It managed to fly under the radar for the past few years, but since this year is the big Five-Oh, he knows Steve won’t let him get away with that again.

Eddie has a complicated relationship with his birthday. When he was younger and the weight of Birthday Importance was at its peak, he never really celebrated the way other kids got to, and now, as an adult, he doesn’t know how to feel the things you’re supposed to feel about your birthday.

Steve does a good job, despite Eddie’s weirdness.

His favorite, Eddie thinks, was the year Moe was born, when Steve had managed to catch him off guard by renting a tiny cottage up in Maine for a few days.

“Moe or no Moe,” Steve had asked, “I’ve got Rob and Nance on standby.”

(They’d taken Moe. She saw snow for the first time. It was amazing, and people who don't want to involve their kids in stuff are a bunch of fucking weirdos).

Steve gives him a letter every year – handwritten on notebook paper and folded into whatever cheesy card he picks out.

Eddie keeps most of the letters in a fireproof lockbox along with all their passports and social security cards and birth certificates (look – Eddie doesn’t fuck around with priceless shit), but he keeps the most recent one – the one Steve gave him for his forty-ninth birthday nearly a year ago – in the top drawer of his bedside table.

He has it pretty much memorized at this point.

It says:

Writing this is making me think about all the ones from the beginning, when I’d write about our future together even though we didn’t have a damn clue what we were working towards for a while.

I think we’re in it, man. Crazy, right?

Anyways, since I have you hostage reading this, I’m gonna take the opportunity to discuss you, because you don’t let me in real life most of the time.

You are gorgeous. Best looking face I’ve ever seen. I wonder how much time I’ve lost off my day just staring at you (actually, not a loss. I take that back)

You suck at puzzles – I know that sounds bad, but it’s great for me. I need that to rub off on Moe because she’s getting pretty good and that’s gonna be a problem for me.

You make me laugh so fucking hard every day. I’m praying the girls get your sense of “elevated” humor or whatever you like to call it

You’re so fucking smart, Eddie. I count myself lucky for it endlessly

You are completely 100% you all the time. I’m still working on that I think but I’m getting there because of you. I’m glad all that shit we went through didn’t take that away from you.

the BEST dad. Can’t believe I didn’t say that sooner. Not to brag but our kids are turning out pretty awesome (can’t go around saying that too much though it’ll go right to their heads and then any power we have left goes out the window)

You’re probably the best person I’ve ever known. Don’t think I’ll be forgetting what a catch you are any time soon, because I won't.

Thank you for loving me even all these years later. My life is better every day that I’m with you.

We’ll keep things quiet this year. Don’t get used to it though. Next year’s gonna be a rager.

I'm a jikooker and I'm done with the narrative change few bloggers here are doing remarks bday because somehow Jimin couldn't meet JK on his bday and they don't wanna accept that. It's exhausting af. Bloggers especially Kanmom already said JK was busy ON THE day of his bday and Mingyu may have met him at company..now that JK already confirmed he didn't went to work and was lying all day, they are changing their narrative to JK being busy on 31st, which he was and Mingyu went to meet him at home. In both cases according to what Jimin said its crystal clear he didn't saw JK on his bday and WHY ARE WE NOT ACCEPTING IT ???? ok, he used to meet JK for all his previous bdays and ? Does that make Jimin not meeting JK for his 2023 bdah impossible? NOPE.

If he saw JK he would've said i saw him yesterday/today (LIKE HE SAID HE COULDN'T MEET JOON FOR HIS LAST BDAY SO HE DOESNT HAVE ANY PROBLEM IN SHARING WHETHER HE MET OR DIDNT MET MEMBERS FOR THEIR BDAYS). But that didn't happened, He spoke to JK on 31st night and that's it, accept it already. Twitter jikookers already accepted it while bloggers here are still writing essays on how Jimin met JK, when we have ZERO evidence. Is Jm meeting JK for bday, the reason yall believe in Jikook? Now if one day JK come live and say he didn't saw Jimin, then what ? Will they change their narratives again???? Can I ask why tf this is so important ? I haven't seen Jkkrs being this invested in what JK does for Jimin's bday. Some years he didn't even wished jimin on sm let alone seeing or giving him gifts..so why is it only Jimin held to a high standards ? In 2021 bday live he said his gift is being shipped and Jimin immediately called out for saying things on cam but not actually gifting him anything. Mans had just dropped one hell of a loud picture then went live on JK's birthday after setting his watch to Jungkook day. I won't hold it against him for not adding spending time with JK ontop of that. It would have been alot. And unfortunately we don't have a Jin to go quiz JK about who did or didn't visit him.

Sorry anon, but I am among the bloggers you are frustrated with. From my knowledge of Jikook, they wouldn't miss each other's birthdays especially since they were both in Seoul during it.

IF JK or Jimin one day come out and say that they weren't together then fine. But as it stands I'm afraid I believe, they kept up their tradition.

Birthdays

An incredibly human tradition not typically practiced by the Na’vi. Jake gave up a lot of human traditions, but birthdays would not be one of them. The man insisted that his family celebrated each others birthdays, and so it became a tradition in the Sully household.

Neteyam would never admit it in fear of being teased, but the boy absolutely adored birthdays. He loved everything about them. In fact, he enjoyed celebrating others birthdays just as much as his own. The idea of celebrating the day someone came into the world was so fascinating to him. The humans got one thing right.

Jake was the type of father that went all out for birthdays so naturally Neteyam followed suit. He had been counting down the days to your birthday planning a big surprise for you. After all, you were his whole world. You deserved an entire day devoted to you (though Neteyam felt strongly that you should be celebrated every day).

Neteyam had everything planned down to the T. He tried his best to make you a traditional human cake, he had loads of handmade gifts ready for you, and he even arranged a feast in your honor. To say he was pleased with himself was an understatement.

“Happy Birthday Ma’Y/N!” Neteyam screamed causing you to jolt awake. You surveyed the area for danger, but all you saw was your mate with the cutest half smile ever, looking like a little puppy. Laying back you placed a hand over your chest recovering from what felt like a heart attack.

“Neteyam.” You breathed heavily still trying to calm your heart. “What are you doing?”

“It’s your birthday remember?” He said like it was the most obvious answer ever.

Growing up, you remembered talk of these ‘birthdays’, but you had never celebrated one yourself. It wasn’t a typical Na’vi tradition so you weren’t bothered by them. Neteyam however had different plans.

This was the first birthday you had since you became mates. He was determined to make up for lost time and give you the best birthday ever.

Your mate pulled you into his chest hugging you tightly. Kisses were scattered along your cheeks and your forehead. Softly giggling at the affection you looked up at him.

“What’s gotten into you?” You asked. “Not that I mind.”

Neteyam gave you an unimpressed look. “It is your birthday.” He said again as if that was a crystal clear answer. “We must celebrate you.” He smiled.

Smiling up at him you nodded letting him ramble on about the importance of birthdays. You still weren’t bothered by it, but seeing him so excited melted your heart.

“Oh, I almost forgot!” He said before placing a quick peck to your lips and running out of your shared home.

He quickly returned with a round looking object on a plate. A stick was stabbed into the middle of it, the end of it aflame.

“Neteyam.” You said with wide eyes. “That thing is on fire Neteyam!” You said panicked not sure why he was unfazed.

“Hush, you’re ruining the moment!” He scolded.

You sat there completely lost as to what was going on. Then it got even stranger. Neteyam started singing.

“Happy birthday to you.” He sang. “Happy birthday dear Y/N. Happy birthday to you.” He was practically beaming as he placed the object in front of you.

Staring from the plate then back to him you were dumbfounded. “Are you trying to set something on fire?” You asked concerned pointing back to the stick on fire.

He threw his head back in laughter at your words. “No. You blow it out.” He explained. “But make a wish first. That’s very important.” He smiled.

Raising a brow you looked at him confused. “But I have everything I wish for.” You said as if it was obvious. “Why do I need more?”

Neteyam smiled at you gently placing his hand on your cheek. “It can be anything my love. Even something small. But you have to wish for something, it’s apart of the tradition.”

You nodded at his words. You didn’t fully understand the importance of it, but you knew it was important to him so you’d play along.

“I wish for-“

“No!” He said panicked. “You can’t say it aloud.”

Eyeing him cautiously you continued. “Alright then.” Making a silent wish to yourself you blew out the flame.

You didn’t think it was possible for Neteyam to be smiling anymore than he was. He was thrilled to be celebrating your first official birthday with you. Pulling you into his chest he snuggled his head into your neck.

“Happy birthday Ma’Y/N.” He smiled.

Snuggling in closer to him you sighed in content. You appreciate all the effort he put into this for you.

“Thank you Ma’Teyam.” You blushed.

“I have so much planned for you today.” He happily explained. “Wait until you see all your gifts.” He proudly said.

“Gifts?” You question still unsure of how the whole birthday thing worked.

“Oh just you wait yawne.” He kissed the top of your head. “I have a whole day of celebrating planned.” He grinned ready to give you a day you’d never forget.

Damn im starting to feel like im that really annoying person when it comes to being their bday. I still place a lot of importance on the age old tradition of the concept of turning another year. Maybe even more than it originally was for. I like to try on a new number like it is clothing. Its a new peice and i look in the mirror and im like hmmm. Feels stranges but i cant take it off and it grows on me n becomes part of me. And i get too excited for the next outfit i get to wear.

Happy STS, and happy belated birthday! How do each of your characters feel about their birthdays? (If your world doesn’t do birthdays, then I guess…*if* they did?) Do Resh, Carr, Nykim etc. care much for celebrating? What about Alaia, Serin, Kadin, etc. (OK I know they’ve literally all got bigger problems…but if they didn’t 😂) Does your world have any traditions related to birthdays, anniversaries, and the like?

Uhhh. Hmm. Okay. I have not needed to address a bday inworld, so I have not um, worldbuilt anything surrounding them 😅

I don't even know when most of their bday's are. Actually, Alaia is the only one, and its vaguely mentioned as being during the spring solstice. Hers was important bc of plot, but nobody else's is, so I've never given them one lol She only cares about it in-so-far-as it means freedom. Or would have XD

Kadin, Serin, Darian, Resh, Orla would've grown up in happy childhood homes and probably have happy memories surrounding their bdays. Well, maybe not Kadin. The seraph don't really measure the passage of time like the other races do. Hmm.

Nykim probably has no happy memories of his childhood, so I doubt bdays mean much to him. He probably doesn't even acknowledge them aside from marking them as yet another year closer to death.

Of all these people, Carr probably is the only one who doesn't know when her bday is. I doubt her mother ever celebrated it, let alone mentioned it, and she found herself on the streets at a young age. Perhaps Resh can help her choose one later on; he would certainly care about bdays :)

Kind of a random question but you post more about cooking than anyone else I follow: should I get an electric wok? My mom's said she wants one before and I'm thinking of getting one for her bday, but I'm on the fence about it. A lot of stuff I'm reading says that they're not worth it and can't handle the kind of heat woks usually get over an open flame- but we don't have that kind of setup, just an electric countertop heater, and she already makes stir-fries in a cast-iron pan anyway, which has like the same temperature range iirc. So basically my conclusion is that like it might not be as good as a normal wok but it works the same as what we're already doing but more convenient. I hope this is like comprehensible at all, and I'm sorry if it's a weird question, but you just seem like you know your shit when it comes to cooking and I'd like to get your opinion :) I hope you have a good day regardless!

i actually have an electric wok! i don't use it much, but it definitely doesn't serve the use of a traditional wok as we know it. You're very right that most woks want a strong open burner that casts radiant heat on the bottom and up the sides. Even heating is super important for even cooking in a wok, which is super hard to do with an induction burner. I'm pretty sure electric woks use internal coils for heating or like an integrated element in the base (like the one I have) which is good for even heating but it doesn't get as hot as a traditional wok on a flame. Can you cook with it? Absolutely! But you wont really get that specific wok flavor which is created when oil aerosolizes and goes smoky in the pan. this specific thing is actually called wok hay, and it's like kind of a huge reason why so much wok cooking is so rich and smoky. You do not NEED wok hay to make tasty food, though. It really depends on what kinda stuff you wanna do! Simple stir fries are totally doable in an electric wok, but they're also just as doable in a standard non stick of sufficient size. Non sticks also, yknow, have the benefit of being insanely easy to take care of. also works well with most induction heaters! Only problem is they dont have great upper heat tolerances. anyway id say look up the specific wok and what temperatures it can get to and its material. also where the heating element itself *is* in the wok. makes a huge difference

Author’s Note: Happy last day of 2022, I can’t wait to kiss this year goodbye! More important than that, happy birthday to my wonderful amazing love Zhongli!!! I can’t believe this is the 3rd year in a row we’re celebrating his bday together, I guess I should narrow down anniversary stuff if he’s gonna be sticking around this long 🥺🥺 I could go on a long rant about the rollercoaster that was this year and everything Zhongli means to me but I’ll let the fic and everything I post going forward speak for itself. This year is going to be a good year, no matter what, and with Zhongli by my side I know it’s not impossible 💕 thank you for reading and I hope you enjoy!

The sun set over the vermillion harbor, ushering in the twilight with open arms and eager eyes. Its light was snuffed out as a delicate bell might extinguish a flickering candle, an analogy that suited the region known for its deep chasms and towering cliffs of ore just fine. It was a land rich in valuable resources and traditions that’d managed to beat the odds and stake their claim as enduring staples of Liyue’s history and culture. Nova never tired of hearing Zhongli discuss the various things she had yet to learn about his home, and even some things she already had. Concepts and thoughts and memories that’d been forcibly ripped away from her, lost as a result of the Fatui’s meddling and the unforgiving flow of time and its penchant for deteriorating anything left in its wake.

Where the latter influence was concerned, it wasn’t anything personal, of course. That’s just the nature of time, of a constantly evolving and progressing world.

The former Archon and his wife had gotten themselves settled at a corner table on the front patio of Third Round Knockout—one of the harbor’s premier eateries that enjoyed a distinguished and unique reputation; it’d more than earned it over the years. Locals and tourists alike were sure to find something to whet their appetites at the humble Chihu Rock landmark, and the visiting duo was no exception. Zhongli especially, considering he’d been frequenting this establishment practically from the moment of its founding, and its reliable and expertly crafted menu had yet to be usurped as his top pick out of everything the harbor had to offer.

Even the lavish luxuries of Xinyue Kiosk and Liuli Pavilion had failed to earn his devoted patronage.

“It’s the last sunset of the year,” the woman wreathed in starlight noted as she rested her chin on her hands. Her feline ears twitched and flicked in response to the constant cacophony that crowded the air as her tail absently swept the ground behind her. She rolled her head to one side as she admired the way the evening’s fading glow made the white caps glisten like stars in a sea of night. “It’s truly stunning, isn’t it?”

A pinch at the tip of her ear got her attention, and she snapped her head around in a flash. The fingers that tangled in her wavy locks coaxed her face closer to their operator, securing her focus on his dazzlingly handsome features. “It’s difficult to admire anything else when I’ve got such an unrivaled beauty by my side.”

He moved in to seal his outrageously embarrassing remark with an earnest kiss, but Nova spluttered and coughed and shoved him back a few inches. Face stoked like a furnace and heart beating with the vigor of a raging fire, she swallowed involuntarily and struggled to calm her nerves as Zhongli’s amber stare likewise swallowed her like a crashing wave. Her dark eyes fluttered shut as she allowed the soothing, tingling sensation to wash over her, drowning her in its frothing depths the same way it always did when he so much as breathed in her direction. Her fur was still standing on end, but it wasn’t like this was the first time they’d ever done something like this…far from it, if they were both being honest. And it certainly wouldn’t be the last exchange of its kind that they shared.

So why didn’t it ever seem to get any easier for her to stomach his magnificence, for her to not pale in comparison to his brilliance and radiance like a shadow seared away by the sun?

Nova was hopelessly smitten with him, wooed and awed by her husband’s charms, his charisma, the very nature of his alluring aura and enchanting presence. He may have been quick to dismiss her arguably overblown perception of him, but it was a perspective he and anyone else would be lucky to rip from her cold, dead hands. Zhongli counted his wife’s devoted affection and appreciation as a blessing every day since she’d crashed into his life like a falling star, drifting perfectly into place to fill the void in the open arms that awaited her so eagerly, intent to never release her from their desperate grasp.

“I’m sorry, I just can’t help myself,” his lips whispered as they traced the edge of her ear, redoubling the bristling of her fur as his enticing tone shot bolts of lightning through her veins.

“Well, it is your birthday, so I suppose you can do what you want,” the flustered girl replied, a little out of breath as her strained voice and tense nerves only made it harder to maintain her grip on the fraying tether of her composure.

“Oh, really?” he teased with an unmistakably amused chuckle. “You’re willing to give me free rein to do whatever I want?”

A sharp gasp escaped her lips as his found her throat, trailing down one side with an onslaught of dizzying kisses that left her vision swimming. She briefly wondered if she really was just going to pass out here and now, but she certainly didn’t want to. She didn’t want anything to ruin his annual birthday celebration, especially nothing that could be considered her fault. At the same time, she couldn’t help feeling a little guilty and lackluster about the mundane nature of the celebration she’d planned.

“To a point, yes, of course you can do whatever you want,” Nova answered firmly, making sure he met her gaze and processed what she was saying before she continued. “I just…I just want to make sure you really are doing what you want, you know?”

Zhongli caressed her cheek as she averted her eyes, giving her wandering gaze some time to drift back to him before he responded. “And what gives you the impression that I’m not?”

“Nothing specific, I guess,” she answered as she swirled the colorful drink in her glass, opting to watch its weak current slosh against the rim rather than face her companion directly. “I just know it’s been hard, for like 500 years and counting. It was hard before that, but it’s been even harder since. And I just…I don’t want to be dull, a disappointment. I don’t want to be tedious or a bore. I don’t want to come back into your life only to make you regret me coming back. On top of that, I feel like…a lot of the time it feels like you’re just too larger than life to make or get surprises and gifts for, and I know that’s my own fault. I just don’t want to drag you down, love, I want to be an interesting and engaging and worthy partner for you, the Archon of Geo, the god of Liyue! Even as a nobody that happened to transcend my mortality, it’s hard to imagine I could ever measure up to someone as remarkable as you. It’s even harder to imagine I could ever make someone as amazing as you happy, especially because—”

Zhongli abruptly ended her dejected speech with a breath stealing kiss, seizing her face as the tips of his fingers grazed her hairline, caressing her as if he was touching the most delicate, cherished thing in the world. Their warm, familiar lips molded together as if they were two parts of a single whole. At this point, maybe they pretty much were. Even after all the years of suffering and separation, there still wasn’t a single soul in the entirety of Teyvat that either party yearned for more than the other. Bound together by an immutable bond and a voluntary contract of sorts, even if they got stranded on opposite ends of the universe, they were certain they’d find a way to close the gap and return to the place, the person, where they rightfully belonged.

The Archon’s gilded gaze coated the object of his affection in gold leaf as he adjusted his hold, one hand shifting to encompass more of her face as he caressed her like a precious gem, an invaluable treasure. His other hand found her knee, fingers tensing on the curve of her leg just below the hem of her skirt before they started to creep upwards towards said fabric; ever so carefully, ever so precisely. Nova slapped her hand over his wandering touch, digging into his wrist with her gloved grasp as her head filled with a distracting, all encompassing haze.

She was a hapless yet fortunate victim of his subtle, insistent, expertly orchestrated ministrations.

“The greatest gift I will ever receive in my lifetime is you, kitten,” Zhongli confessed, clutching the hand that’d grabbed him in order to raise the back of her glove to his lips. “That means all the more now that I know what it’s like to live without you, to live despite believing you were lost to me forever. So, when a day like today comes along, I’m not very particular about what we do, as long as we do it together. Sipping tea with you, reading books with you, watching plays with you, even just sitting next to you, existing next to you…that’s more than satisfying enough. She rose from her seat with an impish smirk, keeping her hold on him as her tail thrashed with an excitement that betrayed the true extent of her interest. “I suppose we could discuss it over tea, if you’re in the mood to turn in for the evening.”

With her next breath he was on his feet, squeezing her hand with a strength that communicated the depth of his longing and subsequently made her heart want to erupt at the mere thought of it. “I thought you’d never ask.”

The 2y/o unfinished pwp

Or more tbh. I keep changing my mind in how I should organise it and then I spend DAYS getting stuck on esthetics, it drains me and I give up on it again.

So what is the idea this time ?

I think I'll just focus on animating 1 episode. I'll give up on trying to explain everything and all the details because this shit is impossible, not in an hour. This is a trilogie TT

So I'll just make the pwp as if my audience is first time viewers of the show. They'll decide based of the pilot if they wanna watch the rest or not.

Then, after I present the episode, we just talk normally and I'll spoil details depending on the questions I get.

I'll present the first 3 chapters. Idk how long that actually means, but I feel it's enough to introduce someone who has no idea what the story is to the most important characters and their initial dynamic to each other.

It's also no too much info dump about the world building, it's just enough for you to get where Leenho is and where he's trying to go. Also it hints at like the magic and mystery part without being the focus of it yet so it's fine if u don't get all the details.

And it ends on a clif hanger that even I didn't know happened until this morning hhh

Outline-

Seortel is a small kingdom formed bearly a century ago out of necessity, to avoid being claimed by the larger and older existing kingdoms. Tensions worldwide are rising and the threat of war is even more looming eachday. The Solarians are descendents of various scientific and creative minds from various kingdoms who migrated on this unclaimed land to explore its diverse ecosystem. Previously, no kingdom ever bothered to claim the land since its resources were few and not deemed valuable. So the land and its people were left alone for centuries, cultivating a mix of cultures that became their own.

AUGUST-Docks, leenho is working as he usually does unloading merchant ships. He gets lost in his thoughts, looking towards the sea, catching a glipse of the castle's towering walls. He wonders if he'll get to see the hortensia petals crash the shore of their small island this year again. He'd be glad if he never had to ever touch another wet petal again. Maybe a few months from now, he'll be the one blowing some out towards the sea.

The blueoming is the most festive night of the year in seortel's small kingdom, altho, the capital has its own unique tradition. But with the blueoming approaching, so did leenho's 20th bday. This year, he'd finally get dispatched to train as part of the royal army, bringing him closer than ever to becoming a knight.

We meet leenho's younger brother, Jin, as he pushes his cart on land. Jin is also thinking about leenho's 20th bday approaching and pleeds him to open the letter their older brother, Woo, sent him a few weeks ago for the occasion.

But being a small kingdom meant that they could only rely on themselves. Resources were few but enough to allow them to support themselves and transform it to make product to sell to their 2 neighbouring kingdoms. Every child and adult contributes to Seortel's economy. Children started early, taking on various easy and small tasks, helping out their communities. Naturally, so did orphans, until their 20th bday, when they become adults and are redistributated to work for the crown.

So weird crack theory/ thought.

What if Lonnie & victor creel are related (like they're brothers or 1/2 brothers or something)? Like lonnie is Victor's younger brother? Son? Etc?

1 )duffers are fans of the xmen comics and reference it every season. ‘ victor creel’ (from ST) sounds like the the xmen character ‘victor creed’ who had an ab*sive dad- and because of that ab*sed his younger siblings , growing up. victor as a kid had a birthday tradition of ab*sing other relatives-specifically on their b days . His fav target as a kid was his little brother. Sort of like how lonnie made Jonathan cry on his birthday ...and in s4 Lonnie may return (near Will's bday) . 2)if creed=creel. creed is also the surname of the main family/characters from the stephen king novel pet semetary. The Duffers love stephen king (and have used him as an influence in St’s plot in the past). Beky ives’ actress-aka El’s aunt- was also in the remake of pet semetary ,and Duffers love referencing shows/films their actors have been in. The young son/boy in the novel/og film was named William Creed who (in the novel) became a zombie and he had a sis named ELlie. Also, Bob referring to Joyce in highschool as " the Joyce byers" implies Byers is HER last name . Not lonnie's- sooo what's lonnie's last name? He's only ever referred to by his first name? If it was Creel... than technically William byers... could be William Creel (zombie boy) which =William Creed (zombie boy from sk novel)

4) Also the kids made a whole joke in s1 of "family " being at penthurst (where creel is) .Nancy in s3, goes to a hospital and pretends to be related to Mrs Driscoll and even changes her last name to driscoll. She claims to be her granddaughter. Mrs Driscoll was also in the hospital because everyone assumed she had a schizophrenic episode. So... someone in the gang is probably related to creel even if not the byers. So that could be foreshadowing that someone will be related to Creel? Of course, who knows, maybe it's just a ref to brenner /papa working at penthurst?

Or total crack theory: maybe el and Will are both related to Creel- aka William &ellie creed. since both were called "schizos" (whenever people talked about their powers in s2 )?And both have maternal aunts who hallucinated things. Also, i think of the did theory,but i do remember in s1 someone remarking El could be "lonnie's kid". So who knows who /how anyone could be related to Creel. XD

5) lonnie's actor said he's a "product of his environment "... what could that mean... hmm 6)maybe lonnie saying trauma makes you "make up things to cope" could be him referring to victor ... and the dialogue isn't just foreshadowing/narrative device for other characters?But he knows from observation of his own family?

7) st s4 movies: trigger warning for s.a which may relate to victor's eye thing

in the s4 movies inspos: they had a guy s*xually ab*se both his kids. 1 of the kids-grows up and ab*ses his other relatives ,repeating what his father did(Lonnie?). And other films also showed the generational cycle of ab*se too. 1 movie also had a "plot twist" of 2 male villains being brothers . And another movie had the ‘plot twist’ of a villain being a 1/2 sibling to another character. The whole creel allegedly stabbing his eyes out reminds of the oedipus story- which again would make sense in relation to such ab*se elements involving parents. Again , oedipus gouges his eyes out after k*lling his dad/ having inc*st with a parent. The eye gouging was metaphorical for the shame he had in regards to this.And a lot , like 20+ movies, had parents/ older relatives conduct s.a on their younger (kid) relatives.

And another movie ex) creel's actor plays freddie creuger. In one of the s4 movies a woman working for a psych ward revealed she was actually related to freddie . But she kept it a secret initially, because they're related because of a r*pe done.

This plot would also show the cycle of ab*se but show how unlike lonnie- Will and Jonathan break the cycle. For instance the stephen king "shinning" book was said to be inspo for st - in the st book "stranger things: worlds turned upsidedown." And "shinning" is on the st movie list. In the novel and the novel's sequel its about how Jack (ab*sed by his dad) repeated the cycle of ab*se by ab*sing his own son, Danny.Danny breaks the cycle and the story ends with him telling his kid- relative (who is also related to jack-aka Danny's father) to not repeat old familial patterns . (He says this to her , on her bday, and she promises she won't be like those relatives ) . It makes me think of jonathan and Will tbh- since jonathan already said to Will to not mimic Lonnie. If jonathan said such a thing to Will, on Will's bday- it would be a very significant narrative contrast to Lonnie : given the whole possible " familial birthday ab*se tradition" that was inflicted on jonathan, by lonnie. it'd show in a very symbolic yet overt way the boys breaking the cycle of ab*se.

Its also possible creel isn't evil at all- just in a psych ward after everything that happened. To subvert expectations :since the actor usually plays villains/ sadly people often demonize people with mental health issues.

Of course, victor creel may be as important as Mrs Driscoll or something lol...who knows.XD

Or “Creel” is based off a different marvel comic book character maybe? : carl creel , who broke out of pr*son with his newfound powers & closed a portal called a “door” to another dimension? Who knows... but I think if victor creel is substantial to the plot... him being related to the byers in some capacity would be interesting.

Hello! Big fan of all ur long essay posts. Please never hold back keep them coming. Also do u think we will get sonething from jimin's bday? Bcoz we never had a live on his bday and we havent gotten a bb yet but we have already got jin's bday vlive which is in december. So is it possible we wont get anything for jimin's bday last year. Its understandable since it was 2 days after ON:E concert and they were all possibly tired.

Seeing as it took a little over a month for us to get Seokjin’s birthday Bangtan B*mb, though we did get a vlive the day of his birthday, I’d say it is fairly clear we won’t be getting anything from Jimin’s birthday. It’s been more than three months already, after all. And I think you’re probably right in that we had MOTS ON:E on the 10th and 11th while Jimin’s birthday is on the 13th, so chances are that the members might’ve gotten a few days off, or had a few days with very loose schedules, to recover and recharge after those two days of back to back concerts.

In the past having two concerts and then a full week of schedules and traveling before the next two wasn’t “that big of a deal”, simply because they got used to that schedule and it spanned a much longer time period, but in these times of the pandemic, that time of getting used to things, building up the stamina and energy for back to back concerts just wasn’t there. They did an outstanding job on both concert days, giving their all in every minute and during every step, so it’s only natural that they needed to rest thereafter.

During In The SOOP while Namjoon sat with Hoseok around the fire at night he said himself that their schedule feels the way it should when they are forty and not where they are in their career right now, that everything is so much more relaxed as compared to an average year for them.

With all that in mind, I’d say that the tradition of a birthday cake and the accompanying Bangtan B*mb, or some video on twitter, simply was omitted. Which isn’t to say that the members didn’t celebrate his birthday or any of that, I’m sure they did, I just mean that they didn’t do anything specifically designed for us. And that’s okay. Most of the members still posted something on twitter for Jimin (where I think it’s important to keep in mind that those posts are also more for us than they really are for each member seeing as they can just wish each other a happy birthday etc. in person or via the phone or even both, no need for public declarations, but it’s a tradition by now that they, for the most part, diligently uphold) and Tae hid his birthday message inside the Exhibition that opened on the day of Jimin’s birthday, something I’ve curiously only seen vminnies talk about while everyone else seemingly didn’t notice it or ignored it on purpose.

event post time lets goooooo. as usual, under the cut there will be some general ideas for event, pls like this post or slide into my ims/dscrd if u wanna plot! i’m trying to be as detailed as possible but like, there is a lot going on, this list probs won’t be exhaustive. i’m also open to p much anything so pls don’t feel limited to any of these plots!! im down for anything!!! either way, continue below the cut if u wanna know more ab what my kids are getting up to (any dates that arent specified i just... didn’t decide on anything and am open to Absolutely anything):

JAEWON:

general: backstage at the concerts is v welcome for any of the days, just idk, hanging out, i’m tryna keep this v general. pros: jaewon is p proud for unity snatching one of the three closing performance slots, dimensions’ pride indeed. cons: he probably has his tits out, jaewon always has his tits out on stage, he rlly lives like this. anyone is allowed to feel whatever way he wants ab either of those two things.

dec 26: jaewon pulls a blue card cuz sexy pool montage of jaewon. ok im kidding (kinda). idk, kick his ass at games, team up w him to crush the competition, drown his stupid ass, literally anything.

dec 26: so SOMEONE learned his lesson from the halloween party, no alcohol at the ball for him. come clown him w/ memories of that night (he sure doesnt have any) or idk, try to talk him into drinking (he won’t)

dec 26: in general, i think jaewon might forego most of the party, just find a quiet spot to hang out, look at the sea or some fake deep shit. if anyone is feeling up to it come hang out w him and, idk, reflect on the past year. it’s a time for realizing stuff. (the muse in question would have to b somewhat close to jaewon for this but like im always down to plot that out!)

dec 27: idk, jaewon will probably forego most of the traveling and exploring, opt for a calm day on board instead, anything re: that is super welcome.

dec 28: jaewon ends up in team red for the day so like, kitchen antics w/ jaewon. he’s a surprisingly good cook (shoutout to grandma park, the real og, for kicking this idiot into the kitchen since a young age)

dec 30: jaewon pulls blue again and... you’d think he wouldn’t be as disgruntled about it? someone pls kick his shins till he accepts going to the spa isn’t such a bad thing sir just relax for one (1) day it will Not kill you

YUANJUN:

dec 26: yuanjun pulls a yellow card cuz dancing king xiao yuanjun sure as hell is fucking involved in this god damn flashmob sUE ME. local enthusiastic dance teacher, will annoy anyone who Doesn’t Want To Be There into having fun and partaking, cutely messing around w people who are having a good time anything you need him to!

dec 26: in their free time after that he’ll def drag someone along to come explore the ship with him so like!!! will they get lost? possibly, but it will be Fun

dec 26: someone decorate sugar cookies w him at the holiday ball pLEASE

dec 27: yuanjun is DEFINTELY exploring the hecc out of taipei, grab dinner w him, go late night shopping w him, sightseeing, ANYTHING

general: first things first, yena doesn’t have a roommate yet so like,,, any female-presenting muses hit me UPPPP

general: yena will be complaining backstage at the concerts tbh, she’s tryna celebrate a vacation here why does she have to WORK, does anyone really care to see gal.actic perform anyway?

Top 5 Books of 2020

Last year I did a top 5 books of 2019 post and I really enjoyed it, so I’m doing it again! Reading was a really wonderful way for me to keep my head above water during this Year Of Hell and hopefully some of y’all will enjoy these <3 Also this is your obligatory reminder to support your local libraries. You don’t need to buy Audible. Many libraries will let residents get access to their online catalogs during the ongoing end times even if they’ve suspended in person service.

5. Something That May Shock and Discredit You by Daniel M. Lavery

Okay, some of y’all know I love personal essays. I never read the The Toast while it was still active, so this was my first time reading any of Lavery’s longform work. I often struggle reading transmasc narratives because my experience of my own gender runs counter to the “traditional” narrative. I feel like I grew into being a man instead of necessarily being born one, it feels disingenuous to refer to myself as a little boy, etc. This collection of essays really saw me. Lavery’s anxiety around what transitioning into a man will “make him become”, his attempts to reconcile his female gendered experiences with is present dysphoria and reality, gah I loved it. Also, the essay about William Shatner just, I feel very seen.

Lavery is Christian and this book is very much from a Christian perspective. His faith is obviously very important to him and I valued the perspective he has in reconciling his religious upbringing with being trans. You guys know that I talk a lot about marrying my own Jewish faith with my gender and sexuality, how I spent years (and still do) attempt to reconcile the two. Ask myself questions like “what does it mean to be a Jewish man?” There were parts of this book that just didn’t resonate with me, but I’m not Christian. If Christian religious references trigger or otherwise affect you, definitely proceed with caution here. But Lavery is very earnest in his discussion of the topic and I think it shows in the final book.

(Also, the metaphor of Joseph wrestling the angel and being given a new name as a double-edged metaphor for transness? How did I not think of this before. It’s perfect.)

I could go on but I highly recommend any transmasc folks who feel like me to read this book. This is the kind of book I want to buy my own copy of, reread, and annotate.

4. The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

This book has been picked up a bit by booklr, as it deserves. I really didn’t think I would like it in the beginning bc of the framing device, and boy was I wrong. Do you want a wlw love story told with honesty and care and emotional depth? Read this book. This book isn’t fluffy, but I didn’t finish it feeling betrayed. Also, I’m absolute sucker for a story set in Old Hollywood.

3. So You’ve Been Publicly Shamed by Jon Ronson

This book is not specifically about “cancel culture” (it was written in 2015) and I think bc of that it’s actually a great resource. While it starts by looking at Twitter, Ronson looks a lot more at how society shames people overall. He looks at the workplace, sex and the sex industry, and the prison system. He’s also just, really funny. This isn’t my first book of his but it’s definitely my favorite.

2. The Long Earth by Terry Pratchett and Stephen Baxter

This book was actually a bday gift from a friend, and she was so right! I’ve read dreadfully little Terry Pratchett and everything I read that he’s a part of, I love. The basic premise is “what if the multiverse was discovered tomorrow and anyone could go there. What happens to society?” It’s hard for me to talk about what I loved about this book without spoiling it, but suffice to say it constantly subverts your expectations. It’s both realistic and optimistic, the worldbuilding feels so cool and real, and a large part of it is just, exploring this new world. It’s been a while since I read a book where the main conflict wasn’t inherently antagonistic, and I really enjoyed that.

1. Go Ahead in the Rain: Notes to A Tribe Called Quest by Hanif Abdurraquib

I have talked my friends’ ears off about this book already but please everyone should try reading some of Abdurraquib’s work. I was only familiar with some of his poetry and spoken word stuff before this, and his books are just as good. This book is more than the sum of its parts: it’s poetry and personal essay and cultural history and music journalism. It’s personal and analytical and real. It’s so, so good. You don’t need to know much about hip-hop to enjoy this book, but if you do it’s that much better. Abdurraquib is so good at slipping you in and out of anecdote. You don’t realize you’re reading poetry until you’re immersed in it. Just, I cannot recommend this book enough.
